Biden Had ‘Casual’ Conversations With Son’s Business Associates on Multiple Occasions, Devon Archer
Tells Lawmakers

Devon Archer, an associate of Hunter Biden, informed members of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee on July 31 that President Joe Biden spoke to his son’s business associates on multiple occasions.
In a closed-door interview with Mr. Archer, members of the House panel sought more information on an ongoing investigation into the business activities of the president and his son. After the hearing, Democrats and Republicans delivered different analyses of the testimony, with Democrats downplaying the allegations and Republicans suggesting that they provided crucial new evidence to the probe.
Speaking after the panel interviewed Mr. Archer, Rep. Dan Goldman (D-N.Y.) told reporters that the president had engaged in “casual conversation” with his son’s business associates “20 times over the course of a 10-year relationship” between Mr. Archer and Mr. Hunter Biden.
In 2019, on the presidential campaign trail, Mr. Joe Biden insisted that he had had no role whatsoever in his son’s business dealings—a contention that has increasingly come under scrutiny as Republicans have learned more about Mr. Hunter Biden’s business activities.
House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said, “Devon Archer’s testimony today confirms Joe Biden lied to the American people when he said he had no knowledge about his son’s business dealings and was not involved.
“Why did Joe Biden lie to the American people about his family’s business dealings and his involvement? It begs the question what else he is hiding from the American people.”
However, Mr. Goldman downplayed the significance of these interactions, saying the president’s comments amounted to little more than greetings and small talk. He emphasized that Mr. Archer told the panel that these discussions never touched on business dealings. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

‘TikTok Is Built Like an Indoctrination Machine’: GOP Senator Sounds Alarm on App’s Impact on American Youth

Sen. Jim Risch (R-Idaho) has asked the Federal Trade Commission to explain what it is doing to prevent adolescent TikTok users from being exposed to Chinese Communist Party (CCP) propaganda and the app’s problematic data procedures.
In a July 31 letter (pdf) to FTC Chair Lina Khan on Monday, Risch, the ranking Republican on the Senate Foreign Affairs Committee, labeled the Beijing-backed social network “the perfect storm for concern” with respect to its impact on American youth.
“Given its connections to the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and the way it collects and controls sensitive personal information, TikTok poses one of the greatest long-term threats to the health, safety, and privacy of millions of Americans,” Mr. Risch said in his letter.
He asked Ms. Khan a number of questions and requested a “prompt response” by Oct. 30. The lawmaker wants to know what measures the FTC is taking to safeguard children’s data and keep them safe from potentially harmful video trends, and he also wants to know what steps are being taken to stop “the development of algorithms that directly promote CCP propaganda.”
“TikTok is built like an indoctrination machine, and its user base is comprised of one of the most impressionable and vulnerable populations: children,” Mr. Risch said. “The nature of TikTok’s application and its content are tailor-made to appeal to younger generations.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

Confidence in US Military at Lowest Point
in 26 Years: Gallup Poll

Confidence in one of the most trusted institutions in the United States, the military, has fallen to its lowest point in more than 25 years, according to a new poll by Gallup.
On Monday, Gallup shared the results of a June poll, which found about 60 percent of U.S. adults who were surveyed expressed either a “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in the U.S. military, while the remainder expressed “very little” or only “some” confidence in the military. This figure marks the lowest level of confidence in the U.S. military since 1997.
The drop in support was most significant among respondents who identified as Republican. Since Gallup began polling trust in the military in 1975, Republicans have typically held the highest degree of confidence in the U.S. military. In the final year of President Donald Trump’s presidency, 91 percent of Republican respondents had expressed moderate to high confidence in the military. Now only 68 percent of Republican respondents feel that way, a 23-point drop.
The U.S. military also lost a significant measure of trust and confidence from independent voters. In 2019, 73 percent of independents felt a moderate to high confidence in the military, but that number fell to 68 percent in 2020 and has since dropped an additional 13 points.
While trust in the military has reached a low point not seen in a quarter century, the military still remains one of the most trusted institutions in the country. In fact, the military was second only to small businesses as the most trusted institution, with 65 percent of respondents expressing a “great deal” or “quite a lot” of confidence in those businesses. 80-mph winds rip through Washington, DC,
causing significant damage across metro

The National Weather Service said winds gusts were estimated to have topped 80 mph in the metro area.
|
|
|
While many in the region questioned whether a tornado moved through, the FOX Forecast Center said it is possible parts of the district were the victims of what is known as a downburst – a push of wind from a thunderstorm that can cause wind gusts in excess of 100 mph. These damaging wind events can down trees, cause structural damage and are a major threat to aviation.
The storm was well-forecast, and a Severe Thunderstorm Watch and subsequent warnings were in place before the dangerous weather arrived.
Data from PowerOutage.us showed at least 250,000 outages in the metro region after the storm, and authorities urged residents to only use 911 for life-threatening emergencies. As of Sunday morning, that number had dropped significantly to just over 80,000 outages reported.
Side note: Is this possibly an Eye to Eye consequence related to Washington's push to make concessions to the Palestinians in efforts to normalize relations with Saudi Arabia?

1. Hayut Court Pursuing Constitutional Crisis with Netanyahu’s Incapacity Hearing - Jewish Press
On Thursday, a panel of three High Court of Justice judges will hear a petition against the amendment to a basic law that clarifies the scope of determining the incapacity of a sitting Israeli prime minister.
Before we enter the details of the petition, it should be noted that, according to former Supreme Court Justice Aharon Barak, the Knesset Basic Laws are equivalent to a constitution. In interpreting laws, Israeli judges on every level refer to the basic laws, and when the Supreme Court revokes a law, it does so citing its incompatibility with this or that basic law.
With that in mind, for the court to deliberate a petition against a basic law is tantamount to the US Supreme Court deliberating whether to cancel the First Amendment. It’s unthinkable. (Read more)

Commanding Officer of the Northern Command, MG Ori Gordin on Tuesday evening warned that Israel is "ready for any challenge" that might come from enemies on the country's northern border.
Speaking at the "Protector of the North Star" ceremony, which took place Tuesday evening at the Northern Command, Gordin said, "Even during these days, both mandatory soldiers and reservists continue to guard the northern border, with the aim of ensuring the security of the residents of the north."
"At these moments, the enemy across the northern border continues planning how to harm the sovereignty of the State of Israel and perfect its capabilities in an attempt to threaten the security of its civilians.

3. The Middle East is a Powder Keg’: Israel’s UN Ambassador Warns of Hezbollah Provocations Along Lebanon Border - Algemeiner
Israel’s Ambassador to the UN Gilad Erdan in a letter released Tuesday warned of potentially “disastrous” consequences stemming from Hezbollah’s provocations along the Blue Line separating Israel and Lebanon.
The letter to the UN Security Council and Secretary-General, dated 27 July, cites Hezbollah’s construction of military compounds along the de-facto border, as well as Hezbollah’s repeated attempts in recent months to infiltrate or sabotage Israel’s security barriers.
“The Middle East is a powder keg on the cusp of being ignited,” the letter says. “Tensions along Israel’s northern border with Lebanon are higher than they have been in years as a result of Hezbollah’s violent escalations, blatant violations of Security Council resolutions, and dangerous military advancements. If the Security Council does not condemn Hezbollah’s destabilizing activities and demand that Lebanon takes action against the illegal military buildup within its territories– or at the very least, allow [United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL)] to be able to fully implement its mandate – the situation on the ground will continue to deteriorate and the consequences will be far-reaching and disastrous.” (Read more)

4. Amazon Web Services Announces $7.2 Billion Investment in Israel - Algemeiner
Amazon Web Services (AWS) on Tuesday announced a $7.2 billion investment in Israel and the creation of a new service region in the country for cloud computing.
According to AWS, the investment will run through 2037, generating nearly $14 billion in additional GDP growth and will support 7,700 jobs. The new AWS “region” means that Israeli public and private sector AWS customers will have access to three AWS data centers to run applications and store data. The announcement follows Amazon’s $1.2 billion ‘Project Nimbus’ contract with the Israeli government in 2021 to move ministerial services to the cloud. (Read more)

5. Palestinian terrorist attempts stabbing in second attack of the day - World Israel News
A Palestinian terrorist attempted a stabbing attack at a bus station in Judea and Samaria on Tuesday evening before being neutralized by Israeli forces, in what was the second terror attack of the day.
A brief statement from the IDF declared that the “terrorist was neutralized” after pulling a knife and running at soldiers at a junction near the Shim’a settlement near Hebron.
The emergency service, Rescuers Without Borders, reported no other injuries.
The incident came on the heels of a separate attack earlier in the day where a Palestinian terrorist carried out a shooting spree in Ma’ale Adumim, wounding six Israelis before being fatally shot by a Border Police officer.
The terrorist had a work permit to enter Israel and had been working as a cleaner in Ma’ale Adumim for years, the city’s mayor, Benny Kashriel, said. (Read more)

1. Koch Network raises MASSIVE amount to try to sink Trump - DML News
The political network established by the conservative industrialists Charles and David Koch has raised more than $70 million for political races as it looks to help Republicans move past Donald J. Trump, according to an official with the group.
With some of this large sum to start, the network, Americans for Prosperity Action, plans to throw its weight into the G.O.P. presidential nominating contest for the first time in its nearly 20-year history. The network spent nearly $500 million supporting Republican candidates and conservative policies in the 2020 election cycle alone.
Two groups closely affiliated with Charles Koch contributed $50 million of the more than $70 million that has been raised (David Koch died of cancer in 2019). Mr. Koch is a major shareholder in Koch Industries, which contributed $25 million to Americans for Prosperity Action, according to a preliminary draft of Federal Election Commission filings. Hunter Biden told business partner Devon Archer that the Chinese tycoon who helped them secure a multi-million-dollar venture in the communist state loved him for his “last name” and for always traveling with “handsome godlike Aryan men,” according to emails reviewed by Fox News Digital.
In the 2011 email thread, Hunter bragged to Archer about his relationship with Che Feng, a Chinese business tycoon who they referred to as “The Super Chairman.”
The emails show that Feng helped Hunter’s firm Rosemont Seneca Partners and James Bulger’s firm Thornton Group LLC secure their partnership with Jonathan Li’s firm Bohai Capital in order to later launch Bohai Harvest RST (BHR), which is controlled by Bank of China Limited. (Read more)

Joe Rogan suggested that the Jan. 6 Capitol riot was a set-up by the US government’s intelligence agencies to take down former President Donald Trump.
“The Jan. 6 thing is bad, but also, the intelligence agencies were involved in provoking people into the Capitol building. That’s a fact,” the controversial podcaster said during a nearly three-hour episode of “The Joe Rogan Experience” on Friday.
“I think that every other person who was involved in Jan. 6 — who was involved in coordinating a break-in into the Capitol and then instigating people — they were all arrested. This guy wasn’t,” Rogan said of Epps, who filed a defamation suit against Fox News for a series of on-air claims that he instigated the insurrection.

4. Now China is funding America's PUBLIC SCHOOLS: Communist nation has channeled $17M into more than 143 K-12 districts sparking GOP probe - Daily Mail
China is funding America's public schools to the tune of $17 million dollars, it has been revealed, with Republicans now probing the disturbing donations. The report by Parents Defending Education states that the close coordination between the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and U.S. schools to establish Confucius Classrooms has historically included 143 school districts in 34 states and Washington, D.C.
In addition, at least seven contracts are still active in Texas, Kentucky, Minnesota, Oklahoma, Oregon and Washington.
The report called 'Little Red Classrooms' reveals that $17 million has been funneled from CCP-connected financial institutions into U.S. K-12 schools, through Confucius Institutes and other cultural and language programs.
It also states that the CCP has 'ties to school districts near 20 U.S. military bases' and three of the nation's top science and technology high schools have been infiltrated. China has facilitated these relationships through grants and sister school partnerships going back to 2009. Programming and funding has varied between school districts, the report adds. (Read more)

5. CDC detects coronavirus, HIV, hepatitis and herpes at unlicensed California lab - NBC News
Local and federal authorities spent months investigating a warehouse in Fresno County, California, that they suspect was home to an illegal, unlicensed laboratory full of lab mice, medical waste and hazardous materials.
The Fresno County Public Health Department has been "evaluating and assessing the activities of an unlicensed laboratory" in Reedley, the health department's assistant director, Joe Prado, said in a statement Thursday. All of the biological agents were destroyed by July 7 following a legal abatement process by the agency.
According to court documents, city officials inspected the location at 850 I St. on March 3 for building violations and found various chemicals being stored. On March 16, an inspection by county public health officials allegedly turned up medical devices thought to have been developed on-site, such as Covid and pregnancy tests. (Read more)

6. Lieutenant governor leading state while governor is away dies shortly after being hospitalized - DML News
New Jersey Lt. Gov. Sheila Oliver, who made history as the first Black woman to serve as speaker of the state Assembly, has died, her family announced Tuesday. She was 71. Oliver served with Democratic Gov. Phil Murphy, acting in his stead when he was out of state and also administering the Department of Community Affairs, which coordinates state aid to towns and cities and supervises code enforcement.
No cause of death was given in a statement released by Oliver’s family through Murphy’s office. “It is with incredible sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of the Honorable Sheila Y. Oliver, Lieutenant Governor of the State of New Jersey. She was not only a distinguished public servant but also our cherished daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and hero,” the family said.
Oliver had been filling in for Murphy while he was away on a family vacation in Italy. She was rushed to the hospital on Monday with an undisclosed medical condition. (Read more)

7. Trump's campaign finances are strained as legal peril mounts - AP News
Donald Trump’s political operation entered the second half of the year in a strained financial position with its bank account drained by tens of millions of dollars that were directed toward defending the former president from mounting legal challenges as he seeks the White House again.
Trump took in over $53 million since the start of 2023, records show, a period in which his two criminal indictments in Florida and New York were turned into a rallying cry that made his fundraising soar. Yet the Republican presidential front-runner burned through at least $42.8 million this year, much of it used to cover costs related to the mounting legal peril faced by Trump, his aides and other allies, leaving him with $31.8 million cash on hand. And that was after receiving a lifeline from a pro-Trump super PAC that agreed to refund millions of dollars in contributions that Trump's operation had previously donated to it.
New campaign finance disclosures made public ahead of Monday night's filing deadline showed Trump's network of political committees spent roughly $25 million on legal fees. But according to a person familiar with the situation who insisted on anonymity to discuss the matter, the number is considerably higher: $40 million this year alone. (Read more)

8. France will start evacuation of French, EU citizens from Niger on Tuesday - Reuters
France will evacuate French and European citizens from Niger, starting on Tuesday, its foreign ministry said, days after a junta seized power in the west African country.
The overthrow last Wednesday of President Mohamed Bazoum - the seventh military takeover in less than three years in West and Central Africa - has sent shockwaves across the region, pitting Niger's former Western allies against the likes of Russia and other junta leaders in the region.
"Considering the situation in Niamey, the violence against our embassy the day before yesterday and the fact that the air space is shut and our citizens cannot leave by their own means, France is preparing the evacuation of its citizens and (other) European citizens who want to leave the country," the foreign ministry said in a statement. In a July 24 interview on FOX’s “Hannity,” House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) said that the mounting evidence of corruption against Joe Biden is “rising to the level of impeachment inquiry, which provides Congress with the strongest power to obtain the knowledge and information needed for oversight.” Thank you, Captain Obvious. Where has McCarthy been? Has he any idea that the information coming out these days about Biden and his crime family was documented and corroborated even before the 2020 Presidential Election? That this information is just confirmation of what was known before Biden was “elected”? McCarthy is finally coming to the conclusion that most discerning Americans already knew.
McCarthy told Sean Hannity, “We would know none of this if Republicans had not taken the majority,” McCarthy emphasized, “this is rising to the level of impeachment inquiry, which provides Congress with the strongest power to obtain the knowledge and information needed for oversight.” McCarthy was referring specifically to all the bribe money that Joe Biden and his family received while he was Barack Obama’s Vice President. Maybe the details weren’t known, but the general information was readily available prior to the 2020 election. The FBI, which was accused at the time of withholding information and actually denying the Hunter Biden laptop story, was stonewalling anything that would help President Trump be reelected. Former President Donald Trump has been indicted on a third set of felony charges relating to the events of Jan. 6, 2021, even as he presses ahead with his third presidential run.
According to the indictment, Trump was indicted on four federal charges arising out of a probe by Special Counsel Jack Smith: conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy to deprive citizens the “free exercise” of constitutional rights.
This is the second indictment arising from Mr. Smith's investigation. The former president is separately facing 40 counts relating to the alleged retention of classified documents at Mar-a-Lago.
The Trump campaign responded to the new indictment, describing it as a politically motivated attack.
"This is nothing more than the latest corrupt chapter in the continued pathetic attempt by the Biden Crime Family and their weaponized Department of Justice to interfere with the 2024 Presidential Election, in which President Trump is the undisputed frontrunner, and leading by substantial margins," a Trump campaign spokesperson said in an email.

The European Space Agency's ambitious Euclid space telescope is on its way to decoding the secrets of dark matter and dark energy.
On Monday (July 31), the European Space Agency's Euclid telescope sent its first images back to Earth. And while these seminal portraits are certainly mesmerizing, they also confirm that the space observatory's instruments are working in tip-top shape.
Euclid's success so far is really exciting because, to put it simply, this machine's purpose is to map out the dark side of our universe by analyzing billions of galaxies that reside up to about 10 billion light-years away. Better yet, the agency also says this ambitious map will be in "3D," because it'll include the element of time to show how those realms evolved in tandem with a maturing cosmos.
"The outstanding first images obtained using Euclid's visible and near-infrared instruments open a new era to observational cosmology and statistical astronomy," Yannick Mellier, astronomer at the Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris and Euclid Consortium lead, said in a statement. "They mark the beginning of the quest for the very nature of dark energy."

Court Orders Biden to Pay Woman Who He Illegally Denied Pro-Life Medical Care

A federal court on Wednesday ordered the Biden administration to pay $65,000 in attorneys’ fees for denying women family planning services through insurance provided under the Affordable Care Act. The Biden administration “illegally” deprived women of the option of “fertility awareness-based methods of family planning as part of health insurance coverage required under the Affordable Care Act, leaving women only with coverage for contraceptive and abortifacient drugs and devices,” Alliance Defending Freedom reported.
“The Biden administration can’t impose its own preferred contraceptive methods on all women without explanation and without even allowing a real public comment period, as required by law,” said Alliance Defending Freedom Senior Counsel Julie Marie Blake in a statement.
