TODAY'S TOP STORY
Storm devastates Washington as Biden administration plans for Israel to concede land

One of the worst storms in decades ripped through Washington DC, over the weekend, leaving devastation in its path. The storm comes as the Biden administration announced negotiations with Saudi Arabia that would require Israel to make massive concessions in land to the Palestinians. While the two seem unconnected, students of history know that milestones in the “land for peace” process have always been accompanied by natural disasters.

More than 200,000 residents were left without power, and many roads, including part of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, were closed through early Monday morning as crews cleaned up fallen trees. More than 16,000 residents remained in the dark after the two-day storm passed.

A Virginia man was killed when a tree crashed down on his home. The  Smithsonian National Zoo remained closed until the cleanup was complete.

The storm hit the nation’s capital directly after the White House announced that they are negotiating with Saudi Arabia. Media reports claim the negotiations include a normalization agreement with Israel that would require massive concessions to the Palestinians. It is unlikely that the current coalition government would agree to such a deal, and some sources are suggesting that the White House will turn to the leaders of the opposition parties in the hopes of forming a unity government devoid of right-wing parties that will appeal to the anti-Israel elements of the Democratic Party. (Israel365News) Read more here.

- Holy One, we thank You that Your Word is true and does not lie: whoever touches Israel touches the apple of Your eye. We thank You, God of mercy, that the toll of this storm was not worse, even while we mourn for the one life that was lost.

Holy One, we ask that this storm would serve as a wakeup call to the Biden Administration that their current policy, which would divide the land of Israel, would harm not only their land but ours, too. We pray that the scales will fall off of their eyes, and that they would know the truth and the truth will set them free. In Your Name, Lord God, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.
- "For thus said the lord of Hosts—He who sent me after glory—concerning the nations that have taken you as spoil: “Whoever touches you touches the pupil of his own eye." (Zechariah 2:12)

DHS Secretary Mayorkas ‘Not Familiar’ with California’s Sanctuary State Law
Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas says he is “not familiar with the particulars” of California’s sanctuary state law that shields countless criminal illegal aliens from arrest and deportation every year.

During a hearing before the House Judiciary Committee this week, Rep. Kevin Kiley (R-CA) asked Mayorkas his views on sanctuary jurisdictions. The secretary, though, refused to criticize California’s sanctuary state law — the strictest in the nation — and went as far as to say he is unaware of the details of the law.

“I do not consider it in the service to public safety to release an individual into the community when that individual can be released to Immigration and Customs Enforcement for prompt removal,” Mayorkas said when asked by Kiley if he believes sanctuary jurisdictions risk public safety for Americans. - Lord, we are concerned when a public official who is in charge of our nation’s borders is not aware of the laws of border states. We ask that this man be held accountable for all that has transpired under his tenure.

DOJ Asks Judge To Set Sentencing Date For Hunter Biden’s Former Business Partner Ahead Of Testimony
The Justice Department has asked a judge to order Hunter Biden’s former business partner, who is scheduled to testify about alleged past criminal business dealings involving President Joe Biden on Monday, to report to prison on previous charges.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York requested in a letter to U.S. District Judge Ronnie Abrams to schedule a date for Hunter’s former business partner, Devon Archer, to report to prison after a jury convicted him of defrauding a Native American tribe and various investment advisory clients of tens of millions of dollars. Archer’s sentence has been postponed due to several appeals from his legal counsel.

“In light of the foregoing, the Government respectfully requests that the defendant be ordered to surrender, at a date and time determined by the Court, to a facility designated by the Bureau of Prisons to commence his term of imprisonment,” DOJ said. “The Government has conferred with counsel for the defendant about this request and asked that counsel propose a date for the defendant’s surrender.” (Daily Wire) Read more here.

- Lord, this smacks of intimidation against a witness who was set to testify behind closed doors yesterday. We pray that You will grant his man wisdom and protect him against any backlash from the Justice Department, Bureau of Prisons or any other entity that might plan to derail his testimony. May he find Christ in a powerful way through this situation.

- “And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death.” (Revelation 12:11)
FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Israel PM Adviser Says Road to Deal on Saudi Ties is ‘Still Long’ - Algemeiner

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s national security adviser on Monday said the road to normalising ties with Saudi Arabia was “still long” while members of his hard-right cabinet ruled out concessions to Palestinians as part of any deal.

U.S. officials have sought for months to reach what would be a historic agreement that Netanyahu has said would be a huge step toward ending the Arab-Israeli conflict but that Riyadh has signalled would rest on Palestinian statehood.

U.S. President Joe Biden last week dispatched his national security adviser to Riyadh to discuss a possible deal, and on Friday said a rapprochement was “maybe under way”.

“I can identify with what the United States president said in an interview a few days ago, where he said that the road is still long but that he thinks there will be a possibility of progress,” national security adviser Tzachi Hanegbi told public broadcaster Kan, adding that Israel is not involved in the U.S.-Saudi discussions. 2. In first, all 15 Supreme Court justices to hear petitions against ‘reasonableness law’ curbing their power - World Israel News

All 15 justices of Israel’s Supreme Court will hear the petitions asking them to cancel the “reasonableness law” that the Knesset passed last week, Supreme Court President Esther Hayut announced on Monday.

The hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sept. 12, three days before the start of the High Holidays. The government will have to file its response to the petitions 10 days earlier.

It will be the first time in the court’s 75-year history that a panel of 15 justices will preside over a case.

On July 24, all 64 lawmakers in the governing coalition voted into law a bill to restrict judges’ use of the “reasonableness” standard. The amendment to Basic Law: The Judiciary bars “reasonableness” as a justification for judges to reverse decisions made by the Cabinet, ministers and “other elected officials as set by law.” (Read more)

3. In Shot Across Bibi’s Bow High Court Unanimously Cancels Coalition Candidate for Mayor of Teveria - Jewish Press

A 9-judge panel of the High Court of Justice on Sunday ruled, at the end of a five-hour hearing, that the “Teveria Law” (Tiberias) will not apply in the upcoming mayoral elections in that city and the head of the caretaker committee, Boaz Yosef, a relative of former Interior Minister and Shas Chairman Aryeh Deri, will not be able to run.

The High Court ruled that the “Teveria Law” will apply only starting in the 2028 municipal elections. According to the law, the chairman of the caretaker committee, or any of its members, is allowed to run in the city the committee governs without a cooling-off period, except for this election. (Mah Nishtana, why is this election different than any other election?)

The law which the coalition recently amended was intended to prevent members of caretaker committees from running in the cities which they had been appointed to govern temporarily. On January 13, 2020, Minister Ze’ev Elkin decided to remove then-Teveria Mayor Ron Cobi and disperse the city council, replacing them with a caretaker committee. (Read more)

4. Thousands of recruits join IDF combat units this summer - Jerusalem Post

The main recruitment period for the IDF's combat units, during which thousands of young men and women will join the ranks and begin their basic training, has begun in July and will continue until September.

Of the new recruits, 57.6% are men, while 42.4% of the new combat soldiers will be women.

Not all of the new recruits are 18-year-old recent high school graduates, however. While the average age of the recruits is 18.9 years, the ages vary from the youngest recruit, who is 17 years and 7 months old, to the oldest who is 30 years and 10 months old.

Almost 500 of the new soldiers are recent immigrants (olim hadashim). 478 soldiers are olim, 313 of them men, and 165 are women. (Read more)

5. Israeli man abducted in Ethiopia freed after shootout - Israel National News

Vodu Adebabai, the 79-year-old Israeli man who was abducted in Ethiopiathree weeks ago, has been released from captivity and is expected to return to Israel tomorrow (Tuesday).

Adebabai was freed following a chase and shootout between special forces and his abductors. Adebabai has already met with his family members in the city of Gondar.

When he was abducted, Adebabai sent a voicemail message to his family in which he said: "Help me. I'm in the middle of the jungle. It's raining hard. Help me. I'll probably stay here. Help me, help my kids. This trouble I wouldn't wish on my enemies. Help me." (Read more)

1.  Jim Jordan Obtains Facebook Files Showing White House Pressure to Censor Americans - Breitbart

Never before seen emails from within Facebook obtained by the House Judiciary Committee led by chairman Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) have shed further light on how the White House and Biden appointed government officials pressured the tech giant to infringe on the First Amendment rights of Americans.

Facebook initially resisted the Judiciary Committee’s subpoena of internal communications about White House pressure, leading the Committee to schedule a vote to hold Mark Zuckerberg in contempt of Congress if his company did not turn over the documents.

After this threat of Congressional censure, Facebook appears to have turned over the require documents, which reveal more of the Biden administration’s furious pressure campaign against the company to suppress discussion about important issues affecting Americans.

Rep. Jordan also revealed that the White House demanded to know why Facebook had not censored a clip from Tucker Carlson’s show on Fox News. In response, Facebook was “ready to tell the White House that it had demoted a video posted by Tucker Carlson by 50% in response to the White House’s demands, even though the post didn’t violate any policies.”

Jordan also revealed that the U.S. Surgeon General also intervened to ask why Facebook had not censored the so-called “disinformation dozen” — a group of accounts questioning official COVID-19 policy. (Read more)

2: Senate Passes Defense Bill With No Block On Funding For Abortion Travel, Setting Up Battle With House - Daily Wire

The Senate passed its own version of the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) on Thursday without adding an amendment to pull Pentagon funding for abortion travel, setting up a likely fight with the House.

The Senate’s NDAA was widely backed by both Republicans and Democrats, passing in an 86-11 vote.

What’s happening in the Senate is a stark contrast to a bipartisan race to the bottom we saw in the House where House Republicans are pushing partisan legislation that has zero chance of passing,” Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) said. “House Republicans should look to the Senate to see how things get done.”

The group of Republicans who voted against the bill included Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT), Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY), Sen. J.D. Vance (R-OH), and Sen. Mike Braun (R-IN). [Read more]

Father in Heaven, we pray for an awakening in our government so that they understand Your heart for the unborn. Bring repentance and truth to all.

3.  Illinois college ordered to pay Christian student $80K for silencing conservative views - msn.com

An Illinois college has settled with a conservative, Christian art student who claimed the school censored her speech and discriminated against her after complaints from classmates.

As part of the settlement won by Alliance Defending Freedom, three professors at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville (SIUE) will take mandatory training related to free speech on college campuses.

The settlement also stipulates that SIUE officials must revise their student handbook and policies to "ensure students with varying political, religious and ideological views are welcome in the art therapy program."

Officials also must pay $80,000 to dismiss the lawsuit successfully. (Read more)

- Lord, thank You for granting this win to the Christian student. We ask that you move on more colleges and universities to have fair and open discussions, that Your Spirit might have opportunities to bring many to Your Kingdom.

- “For the kingdom of God does not consist in talk but in power.” (1 Corin.4:20)

4. Biden admin unveils latest effort to crack down on gas-powered cars, push EVs - Fox News

The Biden administration proposed new fuel economy standards for passenger cars and light trucks which it said would save Americans hundreds of dollars at the gas pump — but will also drive car prices higher.

The new Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) standards — unveiled Friday by the Department of Transportation's National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) — requires passenger cars and light trucks to improve fuel efficiency 2% and 4%, respectively, beginning in 2027. Under the rules, pickup trucks and work vans must boost fuel efficiency 10% every year starting in 2030.

By 2032, the agency said average U.S. fleet fuel economy could reach 58 miles per gallon. According to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the estimated average fuel economy for model year 2022 cars was 26.4 miles per gallon, meaning the proposed standards Friday would mandate automakers more than double fuel efficiency in less than a decade or face substantial penalties. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that repentance would come to these officials who are simply doing everything in their power to destroy those who cannot afford to use an EV.

- “Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.” (Proverbs 28:26)

5. Terms 'husband' and 'wife' could be canceled under new proposal - Yahoo News

A House Democrat's proposal to scrub the terms "husband" and "wife" from federal law, replacing them with "spouse," has members on both sides of the aisle talking.

"I think that some of the wokeness here in Congress is laughable," Republican Kentucky Rep. James Comer told Fox News.

Democrats are "not fighting for better jobs, they're not fighting for a secure border… they're fighting for a woke agenda to satisfy an extreme left wing contingency that's taking over the Democrat Party here in Washington," he said. "It's just another joke in the far-left overreach of government." (Read more)

- Father, as this agenda moves forward, we pray that You will set up an obstacle that it cannot overcome. Let no more words be changed but rather hearts and minds.

- “For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.” (Matthew 12:37)

6.. Kim Jong Un just showed off two new North Korean aircraft that look shockingly similar to US military drones - Business Insider

North Korea had another parade of weapons this week, but there were two oddities in the mix of the usual missiles. The country unveiled two new aircraft that look nearly identical to a pair of US military drones: the MQ-9 Reaper and the RQ-4 Global Hawk.

Although the exact combat and reconnaissance capabilities of the new systems are unclear, their development and visual similarities to American unmanned aerial vehicles highlight efforts by North Korean leader Kim Jong Un to elevate his country's drone program and potentially emulate that of the US.

Photos and videos of the military parade held in Pyongyang on Thursday showed a convoy of trucks carrying drones that closely resemble the Reaper, a powerful and well-armed combat drone able to carry up to eight AGM-114 Hellfire missiles that can also carry out effective intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that You will protect Western nations against the agenda of Kim Jong-Un. We bind that prideful, arrogant spirit and ask for a move of Your Holy Spirit all across North Korea.

- “Everyone who is arrogant in heart is an abomination to the Lord; be assured, he will not go unpunished.” (Proverbs 16:5)

7: Ford set to lose $4.5 billion on electric vehicles this year, despite increased revenue - Fox Business

Ford Motor Company announced it is projected to lose a whopping $4.5 billion from electric vehicles (EVs) this year, up from the previous projected loss of $3 billion.

The company released its second-quarter financial results on Thursday. The U.S.-based automaker's EV division, called "Ford Model e," has lost $1.8 billion so far this year, according to Fortune.

The projected $4.5 billion loss is over twice as much as Model e's $2.1 billion loss in 2022. The company recently announced that the price of its electric F-150 Lightning pickup trucks will be reduced due to cheaper raw battery materials.

The company touted that its low EV prices "establish[es] leadership ahead of industry’s next-generation EVs" and that the Ford Model e's revenue is up 39%. Ford is also expected to produce 600,000 EVs per year by 2024.

- Lord, we pray that all companies who are advancing the Biden administration agenda will find truth and be aware of what is occurring and stop the plans. WE pray for an awakening among all business leaders across the nation.

- “Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed.”             (Romans 13:11)

8. Maryellen Noreika Issues New Order After ‘Apparent Misrepresentations’ Before Hunter Biden Plea Deal Imploded -  Daily Caller

Delaware U.S. District Judge Maryellen Noreika issued an order Friday to prevent “apparent misrepresentations” related to the Hunter Biden case.

Noreika’s order instructs that all issues with the Hunter Biden case be brought directly to her rather than the Clerk’s Office in order to prevent potential “misrepresentations” in the future.

“I have already discussed my concerns about apparent misrepresentations made to a member of this Court’s Clerk’s Office,” the order reads. “In addition to that, in a submission addressing those apparent misrepresentations, counsel for the House Ways and Means Committee needlessly included on the public docket an email from a Clerk’s Office staff member that contained her personal contact information.”

“THEREFORE, IT IS HEREBY ORDERED that, going forward, any issues or inquiries in the above-captioned cases shall be brought to my attention and not to the Clerk’s Office. Any such issues and inquiries shall be submitted in writing and placed on the docket,” the order concludes.

Prior to Biden’s court appearance, a member of Biden’s legal team allegedly “misrepresented her identity” during a call with the Clerk’s Office about an amicus filing by a Republican lawmaker, causing Noreika to threaten sanctions for Biden’s legal team. (Daily Caller) Read more here.

- Lord, we praise You that this judge saw through the subterfuge and did not allow the misrepresentation to be accomplished. We pray for protection for her, and wisdom as she continues to do her job.

- “For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding;” (Proverbs 2:6)

The Daily Jot

Stick like glue

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, July 31, 2023

After God brought the Israelites out of Egyptian slavery, he taught them his ways. Most of all, he wanted the Israelites set apart, or holy, unto him. The book of Deuteronomy gives specifics on what that meant to the Israelites. It is a book where Moses teaches the people how to live in the new land they were about to enter. He exhorts them not to add to, or subtract from what he is saying, and tells them that they are alive today because they have “stuck” with the Lord. The Hebrew word “devakut” means “cleaving” in reference to communion with God. The word comes from the root word “davak,” meaning to “cling” or “stick.”  A good metaphor to define our relationship with the Lord is to stick to Him like glue.

Deuteronomy 4 is a pivotal chapter of God’s plan for a people to become a nation and live by the laws and standards of God with promises that if they stick to God, God will protect and prosper them even unto salvation. Moses tells the people that if they keep the LORD’s laws and rulings, the people of the nations will see them, “as having wisdom and understanding,” and “What great nation has laws and rulings as just as this entire Torah that I am setting before you today?”  Moses asks in verses 7 and 8, “For what great nation is there that has God so near to it, as the LORD our God is to us, for whatever reason we may call upon Him? And what great nation is there that has such statutes and righteous judgments as are in all this law which I set before you this day?” Read More

Evidence Of The 586 BCE Babylonian Destruction Of
Jerusalem’s Monumental Building – Reconstructed
Conny Waters - AncientPages.com - Researchers analyzed and reconstructed the destruction layer excavated within the rooms of a two-story building in Jerusalem that was occupied until the city's capture by the Babylonians in 586 BCE.

This large structure, dated to the Iron Age II and named “Building 100,” was very large as it measured at least 10 × 17 m, making it one of the largest buildings from this period. Both its architectural style and unique finds suggest that members of Jerusalem's elite used the building.

Jerusalem has suffered several catastrophic political upheavals, however, the Babylonian campaign 586 BCE was one of the most crucial events in the history of the Southern Levant, and  it “shaped the biblical narrative and theology for generations to come. “

“The widespread presence of charred remains suggests a deliberate destruction by fire, which was ignited at several locations in the top and bottom floors, with heat rising to burn the ceiling of the bottom floor. The rapid collapse of the structure probably hastened the suffocation,” the researchers wrote in their paper.

Pastor locks himself in prayer room until crime gets better
BATON ROUGE, La. (WAFB) - Crime in Baton Rouge has dominated conversations around the Capitol city since the start of the pandemic. One local pastor hopes through the power of prayer the city can be healed. Bishop Dwight Pate with Church Point Ministries in North Baton Rouge originally opened the prayer room in the 90′s when crime and drugs were bad then, and now hopes for another miracle this time. He’s locked himself in his prayer room since the beginning of May praying for God to heal the city and bring crime down. “And the only place it can be solved is in the church. And the teaching and the loving of God’s people. So, I believe that prayer can change the hearts of the individuals that’s creating all the violence in town,” said Bishop Pate.

What started as a used car lot that he purchased in 1981 now stands as the center point of his mission. The 68-year-old pastor first opened it in 1994 where he stayed locked away for nearly eight months. It was there where folks were free to come and receive holy oil. He opened it again in 2000 for five months to identify the pain and suffering of the elderly. And now it’s open yet again. “Our spirit of peace can spread all over Baton Rouge and create a new standard of what I call righteousness and brotherly love. Because we are our brother’s keeper,” added Pate. Bishop Pate said if he has learned anything in his 44 years of ministry, it’s that God works in mysterious ways. - Father, we thank You for this encouraging story of praying-in Your presence and bringing witness for genuine healing in a hurting community. We decree and declare that there will be MIRACULOUS testimonies of the MIGHTY work of God in Baton Rouge, causing unity, love for one another and salvation in Jesus! May this glorious transformation spread across our nation causing  every community to seek the Lord in diligent intercession for restoration and righteousness across America. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen.

- "I will cleanse them from all the sin they have committed against me and will forgive all their sins of rebellion against me. Then this city will bring me renown, joy, praise and honor before all nations on earth that hear of all the good things I do for it; and they will be in awe and will tremble at the abundant prosperity and peace I provide for it." (Jeremiah 33:8-9)
Thought for the Day
"The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength, in whom I will trust;
My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold."

A Special Message
The Sinner's Prayer
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name."

Scripture: Arise ye, and let us go up to Zion. Jeremiah 31:6

Lyrics:
Come, we that love the Lord,
And let our joys be known;
Join in a song with sweet accord,
Join in a song with sweet accord
And thus surround the throne,
And thus surround the throne.

Refrain
We’re marching to Zion,
Beautiful, beautiful Zion;
We’re marching upward to Zion,
The beautiful city of God.

The sorrows of the mind
Be banished from the place;
Religion never was designed
Religion never was designed,
To make our pleasures less,
To make our pleasures less.

Refrain

Let those refuse to sing,
Who never knew our God;
But favorites of the heavenly King,
But favorites of the heavenly King
May speak their joys abroad,
May speak their joys abroad.

Refrain

The God that rules on high,
And thunders when He please,
Who rides upon the stormy sky,
Who rides upon the stormy sky,
And manages the seas,
And manages the seas.

Refrain

This awful God is ours,
Our Father and our Love;
He will send down his heav’nly powers,
He will send down his heav’nly powers,
To carry us above,
To carry us above.

Refrain

There we shall see His face,
And never, never sin!
There, from the rivers of His grace,
There, from the rivers of His grace,
Drink endless pleasures in,
Drink endless pleasures in.

Refrain

Yea, and before we rise,
To that immortal state,
The thoughts of such amazing bliss,
The thoughts of such amazing bliss,
Should constant joys create,
Should constant joys create.

Refrain

The men of grace have found,
Glory begun below.
Celestial fruits on earthly ground
Celestial fruits on earthly ground
From faith and hope may grow,
From faith and hope may grow.

Refrain

The hill of Zion yields
A thousand sacred sweets
Before we reach the heav’nly fields,
Before we reach the heav’nly fields,
Or walk the golden streets,
Or walk the golden streets.

Refrain

Then let our songs abound,
And every tear be dry;
We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground,
We’re marching through Immanuel’s ground,
To fairer worlds on high,
To fairer worlds on high.

Refrain
