Trump to sue DOJ for $100M over Mar-a-Lago raid, alleging 'political persecution'
Trump attorney says 'unconstitutional' raid should never have been approved by Garland, Wray

Former President Donald Trump is set to sue the Justice Department for $100 million in damages over the government’s unprecedented 2022 raid on his Mar-a-Lago property in Palm Beach, Florida, with lawyers arguing it was done with "clear intent to engage in political persecution."

Fox News has obtained Trump’s memo claiming "tortious conduct by the United States against President Trump."

Trump and his legal team intend to sue the Justice Department for its conduct during the FBI’s raid on Mar-a-Lago on Aug. 8, 2022, amid the federal investigation into his alleged improper retention of classified records.

After the raid, Special Counsel Jack Smith was appointed to investigate. Smith ultimately brought 37 felony counts against Trump, including willful retention of national defense information, conspiracy to obstruct justice, and false statements. Trump pleaded not guilty to all counts.

But U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon, last month, dismissed Smith’s case against Trump altogether. Cannon ruled that Smith was unlawfully appointed and funded, citing the Appointments Clause in the Constitution. (Fox News) Read more.

- Thank You Jesus, for walking with President Trump through this fire and granting him the wisdom and grace to deal with such political persecution and ignominy.  We pray for a powerful rebuke of the DOJ and FBI through this court case that extends out to all of the political persecution activities these agencies have been participating in, in Jesus name.  We declare a full stop to their outrageous indifference to US citizens and our Constitution, in Jesus name.

- "Hear, all you peoples! Listen, O earth, and all that is in it! Let the Lord God be a witness against you, The Lord from His holy temple.  For behold, the Lord is coming out of His place; He will come down And tread on the high places of the earth." (Micah 1:2-3)

President Biden admits pressure from Democrats contributed to decision to drop out
Nancy Pelosi recently revealed that she and Biden have not spoken since he dropped out of the race

President Biden offered some more insight into why he dropped out of the presidential race on Sunday during an interview with CBS News, and said his Democratic colleagues told him his campaign would hurt members of the party down-ballot.

"A number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races. And I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic, you’d be interviewing me about why did Nancy Pelosi say -why did - and I thought it’d be a real distraction," Biden told CBS News' Bob Costa.

Biden announced at the end of July that he would be bowing out of the presidential race and quickly endorsed Vice President Harris. Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Chuck Schumer and other Democrats reportedly called on Biden to drop out in private in the weeks following his first debate with Donald Trump.

"The polls we had showed that it was a neck-and-neck race, it would have been down to the wire," Biden added.

Pelosi recently revealed that she and Biden have not spoken since he dropped out of the race.

The former House speaker also continues to deny she told the president to drop out. She told reporters during a recent interview that the president didn't have a path to victory.

"Now I was really asking for a better campaign. We did not have a campaign that was on the path to victory. Members knew that in their districts," Pelosi told reporters. (Fox News)

- Father, this matter with Joe Biden and his mental aptitude has been critically important over the last four years, and we are now seeing and living the consequences of him being used in the hands of far greater powers surrounding him. Bless him and draw him to You, Abba. It is a tragedy to realize that the presidency of the greatest nation on earth has been subjugated to those who demand control by using an aged man who seems incapable of understanding truth and justice. We pray for our nation to be restored to honor, integrity, the rule of law and God-fearing people in government and the deep state to be deeply dismantled, in Jesus' holy name.  Amen!

Hezbollah launches 30 rockets into Israel, no casualties reported: IDF
Fighting between Hezbollah and Israeli forces in the north has intensified in recent weeks

Hezbollah launched 30 rockets from Lebanon into northern Israel early Monday, though no casualties were reported, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed.

"Following sirens that sounded a short while ago in northern Israel, approximately 30 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon toward the area of Kabri, a number of which fell in open areas," an IDF spokesman said. "No injuries were reported."

The barrage came amid anticipation of retaliatory strikes by Iran and its proxy forces in the region against Israel for the assassination of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran late last month.  (Fox News) Read more here.

- Holy One of Israel, we thank You for keeping these projectiles from landing where they could cause harm. We praise You for protecting and defending Your people and land during such a fragile time. We pray that You continue to hold this nation in the palm of Your hand and be their strong tower in response to all attacks against them, in Jesus name.

- "'Yet now be strong, Zerubbabel.' says the Lord; 'and be strong, Joshua, son of Jehozadak, the high priest; and be strong, all you people of the land,' says the Lord, 'and work; for I am with you,' says the Lord of hosts. 'According to the word that I covenanted with you when you came out of Egypt, so My Spirit remains among you; do not fear!'"  (Haggai 2:4-5)

WHO Schedules Emergency Meeting Over Mpox Outbreak
The World Health Organization (WHO) confirmed that it will hold an emergency meeting on mpox and the decision whether to declare the virus “a public health emergency of international concern,” its director-general confirmed over the weekend.
The emergency meeting will be held on Aug. 14 to assess whether the status of mpox—a virus previously referred to as monkeypox that has been spreading in about 10 African nations—should prompt the international emergency declaration, WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus wrote on social media.

“If so, it will advise me on the temporary recommendations on how to better prevent and reduce the spread of the disease and manage the global public health response,” he said.

A public health emergency of international concern is the WHO’s highest alarm and allows the U.N. agency to use emergency responses under its international health regulations. Since 2005, there have been seven such declarations, including for COVID-19 in 2020, the zika virus epidemic in 2015, and previous mpox outbreaks in 2022 and 2023.

Mpox is caused by a virus transmitted to people from infected animals, but it can be passed from person to person via close physical contact. Symptoms include boil-like skin lesions and rashes, a fever, and muscle aches. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

- We declare the WHO has no authority to call for a public health emergency world-wide, in Jesus name. This virus has been around at least since 1968; it is not new, and we declare it has no power to become anything worse, in Jesus name. We pray for the WHO to use their capabilities to assist those nations suffering with this virus outbreak and enable them to have all necessary resources and supplies to deal with this virus both now and in the future, in Jesus name. We pray for the handling of this virus to be managed by every nation with the least amount of impact against its citizens, in Jesus name.

- "After two days He will revive us; On the third day He will raise us up, That we may live in His sight. Let us know, Let us pursue the knowledge of the Lord. His going forth is established as the morning; He will come to us like the rain, Like the latter and former rain to the earth."  (Hosea 6:2-3)

1. IDF drone strike kills Hezbollah cell in south Lebanon; 30 rockets fired at north - Times of Israel

Several Hezbollah operatives were killed in a drone strike in southern Lebanon’s Taybeh Sunday, the Israel Defense Forces said, with Lebanese media reporting two people were killed when a motorcycle was targeted.

Meanwhile early Monday, the Lebanese terror group fired some 30 rockets at the Western Galilee.

The IDF released footage of the strike on the terror cell. The military also said other airstrikes struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon throughout the day, including an arms depot. (Read more)

2. IDF closes off southern areas as shadow of Iran attack looms - Jerusalem Post

The IDF on Monday announced new closures starting from 12 noon in portions of the South relating to a Tisha B’Av prayer service, as an attack from Iran loomed.

There is no evidence that Hamas could pose a significant threat to these areas given that its rocket fire has been minuscule since January, with tiny spurts only impacting the closest Gaza border villages.

The Jerusalem Post understands that the specific directive came out after right-wing activists seeking to draw attention to their campaign to resettle Gaza pushed for large-scale Tisha B’Av prayer groups on Monday. (Read more)

3. PMO accuses Gallant of 'adopting anti-Israel narrative' - Israel National News

The Prime Minister's Office accused Defense Minister Yoav Gallant of "adopting the anti-Israel narrative" after he characterized talk of "absolute victory" as "gibberish."

"When Gallant adopts the anti-Israel narrative, he harms the chances of reaching a hostage release deal," the Prime Minister's Office stated. 'He should have attacked Sinwar, who is refusing to send a delegation to the negotiations, who has been – and remains – the only obstacle to a hostage deal."

"Israel has only one choice: To achieve total victory, which means eliminating Hamas's military and governing capabilities, and releasing our hostages. This victory will be achieved. This is the clear directive of Prime Minister Netanyahu and the Security Cabinet, and it obligates everyone – including Gallant," the statement concluded. (Read more)

4. Hezbollah Evacuates Beirut HQ in Dahiya Ahead of IDF Attack - Jewish Press

Officials in the Hezbollah terrorist organization have completely evacuated their headquarters in the Dahiya neighborhood of Beirut.

“Completely,” meaning they not only evacuated all their personnel, but also took along with them their computers and other equipment, anticipating Israel’s likely destruction of the building, if not the entire neighborhood.

According to Lebanon’s Al-Jamhoriya newspaper, the move indicates that Hezbollah’s leadership “is preparing for the worst in the event of an Israeli response.” (Read more)

5. Hamas Rejects US-Egyptian-Qatari Invite to Ceasefire Talks - Algemeiner

JNS.org — The Hamas terrorist group on Sunday announced that it will not attend a final round of negotiations for a ceasefire and hostage release agreement set for this Thursday.

Israel immediately accepted last week’s invitation by the United States, Egypt, and Qatar to attend the meeting, which is to take place in either Cairo or Doha. Despite Hamas deciding not to send representatives to the talks, the mediators are still planning on holding them, Kan News reported.

In its official statement, Hamas said, “The movement calls on the mediators to present a plan to implement what was agreed upon by the movement on July 2, 2024, based on [US President Joe] Biden’s vision and the UN Security Council resolution.” (Read more)

1. There’s A New Soros In Town. Here’s What He’s Doing To Shape The 2024 Election - Daily Caller

Since The Wall Street Journal first reported that Alex Soros had taken over his father’s political operation on June 11, 2023, he has pumped tens of millions of dollars into an array of efforts to sway the 2024 election, financial disclosures show.

Democracy PAC, the primary conduit through which the Soros family shuffles its wealth into electoral politics, spent roughly $40 million after the WSJ reported that George Soros had passed the reins on to his son, campaign finance records show. The PAC’s spending under Alex Soros signals somewhat of a departure from how his father operated it, with less focus on criminal justice and a greater emphasis on helping Democrats keep the White House.

“I’m more political,” the younger Soros told the WSJ in 2023, comparing himself to his father. “As much as I would love to get money out of politics, as long as the other side is doing it, we will have to do it, too.” (Read more)

- Lord we know the Soros family has been involved a long time in politics and we pray that Republicans raise more finances than the Soros family can ever give to the Democrats.

- "Whoever walks in integrity walks securely, but whoever takes crooked paths will be found out." (Proverbs 10:9)

2. ‘What Are They Hiding?’: CNN Panelists Call For Kamala Harris To Face The Media, Answer Voters’ Questions - Daily Caller

CNN panelists called for presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris to face the media and answer voters’ questions Saturday on “The Chris Wallace Show.” Harris has not formally addressed the press in the 20 days since she was called on to replace Biden.

CNN panelists Lulu Garcia-Navarro, John McCormack and Kristen Soltis Anderson called for Harris to hold a press conference and do media interviews.

Garcia-Navarro acknowledged that Harris is “riding a wave” and understands why Democratic strategists may advise her not to risk changing the dynamic. However, Garcia-Navarro admitted that Harris “does have to sit down” because voters are uncertain about Harris’ stance on issues like the Supreme Court and statehood for Washington, D.C. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray You give strategy to the Republicans in light of Kamala's not answering questions to the media. We pray that this behavior will work against the Democrats; that people will be turned off by her actions; and that her support will dwindle. In Jesus' name, amen and amen.

- "Better is a little with righteousness than great revenues with injustice. The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps." (Proverbs 16:8-9)

3. US Marshals Arrest Over 230 Fugitives, Including Rapists and Murderers, in Maryland Operation - The Epoch Times

The U.S. Marshals Service has announced the conclusion of “Operation Silver Shield,” a 90-day interagency operation that resulted in the arrest of 232 fugitives across Maryland, including individuals wanted for serious crimes such as rape and murder.

The large-scale, public safety initiative, which ran from May through August 2024, targeted non-compliant sex offenders and fugitives associated with violent crimes, the U.S. Marshals said in an Aug. 9 press release. Among the arrested were 36 individuals wanted for sex offender registration violations, 17 for rape, and 14 for homicide.

“The arrest of these fugitives represents a step in the right direction to keep Maryland safe,” Erek L. Barron, U.S. Attorney for the District of Maryland, said in a statement.

As part of the operation, law enforcement also seized seven firearms and successfully recovered four critically missing children. (Read more)

- Lord thank you for this operation that enabled our U.S. Marshals to arrest these 230 fugitives for these violent crimes. Give law enforcement strength and wisdom to continue to arrest and find more individuals that have committed these crimes.

- "Strategic planning is the key to warfare; to win, you need a lot of good counsel." (Proverbs 24:6)

4. Abbott Orders Texas Hospitals to Report Health Care Costs for Illegal Immigrants - The Epoch Times

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order on Aug. 8 requiring that hospitals collect data on patients living illegally in the United States and report the costs of medical services provided to them.

In a statement, Abbott said he aims to collect data on illegal immigrants who use public hospitals so that Texas can seek reimbursement from the federal government for their medical expenses.

“Texas will hold the Biden-Harris Administration accountable for the consequences of their open border policies, and we will fight to ensure that they pay back Texas for their costly and dangerous policies,” the Republican governor stated.

Under the executive order, Texas hospitals are required to collect data on inpatient discharges and emergency visits by illegal immigrants, as well as the costs of medical services provided to them, starting on Nov. 1.

Hospitals will need to report the information to the Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) by March 1, 2025, and continue reporting data on a quarterly basis. (Read more here)

- Thank you for this executive order by Texas Governor Gregg Abbott to learn of the cost of medical services to the illegal immigrants. We ask that each state follow this path so the government will realize how much their policies are costing states to support these immigrants.

- "Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves." (Matthew 10.16)

5. States Pressed to Revise Nuclear Power Rules, Regulations to Implement New Federal Initiatives - The Epoch Times

LOUISVILLE, Ky.–With President Joe Biden signing The ADVANCE Act into law in June, United States’ nuclear power proponents are urging state legislatures to adjust regulations, licensing, and incentives to accommodate new technologies, including small modular reactors (SMRs) that the bipartisan measure promotes.

Easier said than done without changing perceptions about nuclear power plants, industry experts and advocates told state lawmakers, legislative aides, and lobbyists on Aug. 7 during the National Conference of State Legislators (NCSL) Annual Legislative Summit at the Kentucky International Convention Center in Louisville.

Nuclear Innovation Alliance (NIA) Research Director Patrick White said many of the 60-plus reactor technologies being developed worldwide bear little resemblance to the massive power plants with hulking concrete silos that most associate with nuclear power.
Story continues below advertisement

That perception is obsolete, he said, as are many state regulations geared to address large-scale reactors, such as the nation’s newest, Georgia Power’s Vogtle Unit 4’s 1,114-megawatt (MW) reactor.

White said the future is “very small nuclear reactors” that generate as little as 1.5 MW “designed for a wide range of outputs to meet a variety of different needs” that tout new technologies “and different fuel forms.” (Read more here)

- Lord we just pray that we are able to remain competitive in our nuclear technologies as other countries are doing, so that we are not overpowered and fall behind.

- "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you." (Psalm 32.8)
6. US Announces $125 Million in Military Assistance to Ukraine - The Epoch Times

The United States announced on Aug. 9 it is sending $125 million in military assistance to Ukraine.

“We will deploy this new assistance as quickly as possible to bolster Ukraine’s defense of its territory and its people,” Secretary of State Antony Blinken said in a statement. “As President [Joe] Biden has made clear, the United States and the international coalition we have assembled will continue to stand with Ukraine.”

According to the Pentagon, the package includes but is not limited to multi-mission radars, 155 mm and 105 mm artillery ammunition, javelin systems, ammunition for high-mobility artillery rocket systems, small arms ammunition, high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle ambulances, Stinger missiles, and demolition equipment and munitions.

This is the 10th tranche of assistance to Ukraine since Congress passed a $60.8 billion bill in April to provide supplemental assistance to Kyiv, according to the State Department. The Pentagon said it is the 63rd batch of assistance since August 2021.
The United States has given the Eastern European country more than $55 billion in military assistance, according to the State Department. (Read more)

- Lord we just pray about the amount of money we have invested in Ukraine. We pray that the Ukrainian situation with Russia will be taken care of and sorted out quickly and that you give wisdom on future funds going to them. In Your Name, amen and amen.

- "Watch out that you do not lose what we have worked for, but that you may be rewarded fully." (2 John 1.8)

The Daily Jot

Of words and covenants

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, August 12, 2024

What is in a word? As followers of Christ, we know that Christ is the Word. The Bible is also the Word. The Hebrew word for “words” is Devarim. We call it Deuteronomy, which begins with “these are the words.” The book of Deuteronomy is structured in the model of a covenant represented by Moses’ renewal of the Sinai Covenant with the next generation that would be entering the Promised Land. There have been discoveries of engraved records of ancient treaties from the time before Abraham and they are structured similarly—beginning with a preamble, a historical prologue, stipulations, deposition and regular reading, sanctions and blessings, and witnesses. The words and covenant in Deuteronomy are deeply unique.

The covenant made at Sinai was renewed on the banks of the Jordan and recorded in Deuteronomy or Devarim (words). It is a type of Ketubba, a written record of an agreement of obligations to be met by a husband concerning his wife.  Deuteronomy is the book of covenant, defining a unique relationship between God and His people aiming to construct a moral society as a role model for humanity—in the partnership and worship of the one true God. This became the inspiration for the Founding Fathers of the United States. There are several “word” themes connected with Devarim. For example, Moses began by telling God that he was slow of speech. By the time he reached the Jordan, Moses became the most powerful spokesman of God in the Old testament– the man of devarim, speaking God’s words. Read More

Popular arch collapses in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area
A frequently visited arch collapsed in Rock Creek Bay in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area in Utah, the National Park Service reported Friday in a news release.

The “Double Arch” geologic feature was also known by other names, including the “Toilet Bowl,” “Crescent Pool,” and “Hole in the Roof.”

NPS said no injuries were reported from the collapse, which happened on Thursday.

The Double Arch was formed from Navajo sandstone dating back about 190 million years, the news release said.

Since it was formed, the fine-grained sand feature has been subject to spalling and erosion caused by the onslaught of wind and rain. NPS said that water level changes and pounding waves are suspected of contributing to the arch’s collapse.

“This event serves as a reminder of our responsibility and need to protect the mineral resources surrounding Lake Powell,” Michelle Kerns, Glen Canyon National Recreation Area superintendent, said in the release.

“These features have a life span that can be influenced or damaged by manmade interventions.”

Glen Canyon NRA spreads out over 1.25 million acres in Arizona and Utah. It had more than 5.2 million recreational visitors in 2023 to enjoy popular attractions such as Lake Powell and Horseshoe Bend, which is on CNN Travel’s list of the world’s most beautiful places. Read More

Disney Star Encounters the Holy Spirit: ‘I Needed Jesus’
- Abba, we CELEBRATE life-changing encounters with Your Holy Spirit and newly surrendered lives for Jesus Christ! Bless this new believer and his powerful testimony that many more will be brought into the Kingdom as he shares his experience. May those in his sphere of influence see genuine life-transformation and personally desire to turn to Christ. We PRAISE Your Name for diligently pursuing Your children and calling back every lost prodigal, by revealing the truth of Jesus Christ through His Word and the power of the Blood of the Lamb- Amen and Amen.

- "'For this son of mine was dead and is alive again; he was lost and is found.' So they began to celebrate." (Luke 15:24)
Heaven is rejoicing over the salvation of Disney star Joshua Bassett who gave his life over to Christ after vehemently denying Him for years. Bassett, who is known from Disney’s “High School Musical: The Series,” grew up in a Christian household, but mocked Christianity for years, having complete disdain for it. However, on a recent episode of the Zach Sang Show, Bassett revealed how him even talking about Jesus in a positive light today is a testament of who God is. “I mocked God on this couch,” Bassett told Sang. “For me to be the person here talking about Jesus, I’m the last person I would expect.” Bassett said that many people believe he was brainwashed from a service or lost his mind. However, Bassett recounts that after spending a lifetime of seeking truth, peace and spirituality, he now sees that what he was looking for is found only through Jesus.

While trying all kinds of odd spiritual and drug practices, Bassett had a moment where he actually saw the ugliness and hellishness inside of him. “My soul was falling to the pits of hell, a hell I did not believe in,” Bassett said. “I was surrounded by hundreds of thousands of demons who were mocking me and laughing at me and torturing me.” This experience was one that he knew was dramatically different because he was no longer just hallucinating, but rather, he knew that what he was seeing was real. He soon realized that there was much, much more to the spiritual world than he ever thought. After this, Bassett spent the next six months trying to read the Bible while still keeping his feet in the world of addictions. One day, he thought that meditation would help him. However, instead, he experienced something profoundly different when the Holy Spirit took over. “I sit up, and immediately I felt the Holy Spirit which I had never felt before,” Bassett said. “I just knew in that moment that I needed Jesus.” (Charisma News) Read More
