Pastor Jeff Daly is an attorney and formerly a pastor of a small church in Middletown, Lake County, California: Jesus Christ Fellowship. He visited Washington DC in 2008 and, walking around the White House, he sensed the Lord was saying "they have forgotten Me." He then studied American Christian history and quickly saw we all had to call the Body of Christ back to its Godly roots, including using the gift of repentance. "Repent" was Jesus' first word when He knew He had to preach: Matthew 4:17.
With two other pastors he founded National Day of Repentance in 2013. Now NDR has grown beyond the USA. Global Days of Repentance now reach up to 4,000 intercessors in 49 nations. On this Monday, August 12, there will be a zoom call at 12 Noon eastern time as part of this Global Day of Repentance. Information is at www.globalrepent.com
Jeff serves on the Board of Capitol Hill Prayer Partners and has written several books, the most recent of which is " Nation Imploding: God's Solution." He will be our guest on our call this Monday night, and our focus will be both the meaning of the 9th of Av in Israel, and the "4:14" prayer initiative now taking place daily around the world. Welcome, Pastor Jeff!

Harris Meeting with Anti-Israel "Uncommitted" Movement Opens Speculation About Arms Embargo
|
|
Vice President Kamala Harris sparked concerns that she would consider an arms embargo of Israel by saying she was open to a meeting with leaders of the Uncommitted movement, who told the vice president about their demand for the policy.
Harris spoke with co-founders of the National Uncommitted movement before a rally in Detroit on Wednesday, hearing stories about people in Michigan who have had family members killed in Gaza, before expressing an openness to meet with the leaders over their calls for an arms embargo, according to a report from The New York Times.
The movement, which was inspired by the Listen to Michigan campaign that sprang up in Dearborn, has been protesting the Democratic ticket over the Biden administration’s handling of the conflict in Gaza, with many vowing not to support Harris unless she meets demands such as negotiating an immediate cease-fire or halting weapons shipments to Israel. - Lord, we ask that You prevent any such arms embargo against Israel. We bind Kamala Harris’ actions or that of any other politician who seeks to destroy the ability of Israel to take down the terrorists that threaten them.

Joni Ernst Rails Against Biden Administration for Erroneously Sending $293 Million to Taliban-Ruled Afghanistan
|
|
Republican Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst slammed the Biden administration on Friday for erroneously sending at least $293 million to Taliban-controlled Afghanistan, according to a letter obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
State Department bureaus failed to properly vet the recipients of $293 million provided for aid to Afghanistan in 2022, raising concerns that the Taliban may have been a beneficiary, according to a Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction (SIGAR) report from July. Ernst told President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken in the Friday letter that the mistake was “unacceptable” and demanded they “take immediate action to rectify these issues.”
“After leaving billions in cutting-edge military equipment behind during the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have given the Taliban $293 million in cold hard cash,” Ernst told the DCNF. “The American people deserve better than the complete amateur hour occurring at the White House and State Department. I’m demanding accountability.” (Daily Caller) Read more here.

US Fighter Jets Arrive to Mitigate Threat From Iran and its Proxies
|
|
“and when the LORD your God delivers them over to you, you shall conquer them and utterly destroy them. You shall make no covenant with them nor show mercy to them. Deuteronomy 7:2
A squadron of United States Air Force F-22 Raptor stealth fighter jets arrived in the Middle East on Thursday to “mitigate the possibility of regional escalation by Iran or its proxies,” the U.S. military confirmed.
In an earlier statement, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), the geographic command responsible for the Middle East, Central Asia and parts of South Asia, said that the planes were dispatched to “address” Tehran’s anticipated attack.
The statement, which was shared on X, was modified to read “mitigate” some 30 minutes after it was first posted online, JNS has confirmed.
Israel’s Security Cabinet, which is responsible for defense-related decisions and composed of senior ministers, was set to meet on Thursday night at the Kirya military headquarters in Tel Aviv.
Both the Islamic Republic and its Lebanese terrorist army, Hezbollah, have vowed revenge for the targeted killings last week of Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh in Tehran and Hezbollah commander Fuad Shukr in Beirut. Read more (Times of Israel)

- Abba, thank You that the US is "stepping up" and sending these fighter jets to the Middle East. We pray that Iran will walk back from their threats to strike back at Israel. May cooler heads prevail. May the leadership in Iran have a fear in their hearts about coming against the God of Israel!

This represents a shift from recent assessments, which suggested that international pressure was restraining Iran from launching a direct attack against Israel.
Iran might carry out an attack on Israel in the coming days, potentially even before the upcoming Thursday summit on the hostage deal negotiations, according to two sources familiar with the matter.
This represents a shift from recent assessments, which suggested that international pressure was restraining Iran from launching a direct attack against Israel.

4. Judea and Samaria leaders demand PM act to remove US sanctions - JNS
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Tel Aviv on Thursday with the heads of the local councils in Judea and Samaria to discuss two main issues: sanctions against so-called “settlers” as well as the severe security situation in the region.
Israel Gantz, head of both the Binyamin Regional Council and the Yesha Council, told the prime minister that “we cannot wait until the U.S. elections to deal with the sanctions. The country already has a knife to its throat. Unfortunately, the State of Israel has not made an outright statement against the sanctions and did not formulate practical steps to put a stop to this threat, the aim of which is to establish a Palestinian state.”
Netanyahu promised to set up a team to deal with the sanctions. He reminded the heads of the councils that the U.S. is in an election period, so everything there is very sensitive, and asked them to wait until November. (Read more)

1. Special Counsel: Hunter Biden Accepted Money to ‘Influence U.S. Government Agencies’- Breitbart
Hunter Biden accepted $3,101,258 from Romanian partner Gabriel Popoviciu to “influence U.S. government agencies” when President Joe Biden served as vice president, Special Counsel David Weiss said in a Wednesday court filing.
Weiss, who stopped short of accusing Hunter of having “improperly coordinated with the Obama administration,” failed to indict him on Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) violations in 2023, opting instead to indict the president’s son on alleged tax violations, potential wrongdoing that Republicans claim falls short of justice.
Weiss could still charge Hunter with violating FARA because his sweetheart plea deal, which was negotiated to give Hunter sweeping immunity, fell apart. The sweetheart deal crumbled under judicial scrutiny, and Weiss subsequently filed separate gun and tax charges in Delaware and California, respectively. The tax trial is scheduled for September. 2. Three Columbia University administrators resign after 'antisemitic tropes' found in text messages- Fox
Three deans at Columbia University have resigned from their positions after they engaged in a texting exchange that "disturbingly touched on ancient antisemitic tropes."
Susan Chang-Kim, vice dean and chief administrative officer, Matthew Patashnick, associate dean for student and family support, and Cristen Kromm, dean of undergraduate student life, all have stepped down.
The resignations came after President Dr. Minouche Shafik and provost Angela Olinto wrote a letter on July 8 to the campus community that addressed actions taken against three administrators who were involved in the text message exchanges on May 31.
"I am writing today to update our campus community on the actions the University is taking following an incident in which senior administrators in Columbia College engaged in very troubling text message exchanges during a Reunion Weekend event entitled ‘Jewish Life on Campus: Past, Present, and Future,’" the letter reads. 3. US ambassador to Japan will skip Nagasaki atomic bombing ceremony after Israel snub- Stripes
The American and British ambassadors to Japan declined to attend Friday’s Nagasaki Peace Memorial Ceremony after event organizers refused to invite a representative from Israel. U.S. Ambassador Rahm Emanuel “will honor and commemorate the day at an event in Tokyo, but he does not want to be involved in a politicized event,”
U.S. Embassy Tokyo said in an unattributed statement emailed to Stars and Stripes on Wednesday. Nagasaki holds an annual ceremony commemorating the atomic bombing of the city on Aug. 9, 1945, estimated to have killed 75,000. This year, perceived sentiments over Israel’s invasion of Gaza has shaded the event.
Nagasaki decided not to invite Israel this year, not based on political considerations, but to ensure the safety of attendees and the smooth running of the ceremony, Mayor Shiro Suzuki told reporters July 31. Read more

4. Liberal City Tries To Tax Buildings Using Gas After Court Smacked Down Its Outright Ban On Gas Stoves- Daily Caller
A deep blue city in California is teeing up a tax on larger buildings that use natural gas after a federal court rejected the city’s attempt to ban gas hookups and stoves, according to The Daily Californian.
The city council of Berkeley, California, voted on July 30 to put an initiative on the upcoming ballot that would impose taxes on buildings that are 15,000 square feet or larger and use natural gas, according to The Daily Californian. In 2019, the city tried to enact an outright ban on constructing new buildings with natural gas hookups, and gas stoves by extension, but the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit overturned the ban in April 2023 following a legal challenge against the policy brought by California Restaurant Association.
The official title for the ballot measure is the “Large Buildings Fossil Fuel Emissions Tax,” and it would affect more than 600 buildings in Berkeley if a simple majority of voters approve it at the ballot box, according to The Daily Californian. The measure’s proponents characterize it as an important step to fight climate change, but its opponents in the food service industry and beyond are concerned that the tax will place a steep burden on businesses and force commerce out of the city. 5. Squad’ Member’s Primary Loss Shows How Wrong Left Is About ‘Progress’- Daily Caller
Democratic Rep. Cori Bush lost her primary race this week to a moderately more sane Democrat. This story is about more than one far-left freak losing a seat in the House, however. It’s a rebuke to the left’s entire worldview.
To the left, “history” is an ongoing process that only moves in one direction: towards “progress.” It’s not cyclical or random, but upwards. And the upward movement of humanity means greater freedom — i.e. the triumph of the left’s self-proclaimed victim groups over their so-called oppressors.
For the left, radicals like Bush and the Squad are in the vanguard of history. She might be among the first, but the rest of us will inevitably follow. But her ouster — in part due to her staunch anti-Israel views — shows that history isn’t fate, and it certainly isn’t left-wing.
History isn’t continually marching towards the “victimized” Palestinians triumphing over their Israeli “oppressors.” People have their own views beyond what historical “forces” dictate. And whether it be in the Middle East or our own cultural revolution back home — it turns out, they don’t much like what the left has to say about progress. Read more

- Father, we thank You that one more member of the “Squad” has lost an election. We ask that You remove all of them if they will not repent of their hatred toward You and Your people.

6. Smith seeks to delay deadlines in Trump Jan. 6 case – The Hill
Special counsel Jack Smith asked for additional time to settle how to proceed with former President Trump’s Jan. 6 prosecution, asking to bump back a swift set of deadlines ignited when the case returned to a lower court.
District Court Judge Tanya Chutkan had ordered Smith and Trump’s attorneys to jointly propose how to move forward in the case after the Supreme Court handed the former president a victory in determining he has some protection from prosecution as a past executive.
By requesting a three-week delay in that filing, Smith is likely to disappoint those who have called for him to ask for an evidentiary hearing with live witness testimony ahead of the election.
It also shows that Smith’s team is still grappling with the best path forward after after the Supreme Court ruled Trump is immune from prosecution for core actions he took as president and presumptively immune for all other official acts.
“The Government continues to assess the new precedent set forth last month in the Supreme Court’s decision in Trump v. United States,” Smith’s team wrote in the filing. Read more

- Lord, we ask that these lawfare cases be ultimately thrown out. We pray that You would grant President Trump true peace from the attacks and surround him with “songs of deliverance.” Let Your Holy Spirit shower him in forgiveness and truth. We pray that Prosecutor Jack Smith would repent, but if he does not, we ask that all cases involving his plans be dismissed.

In Walz’s state and on his watch, five infants were "born alive" in 2021 during failed abortions, and none was provided life-saving care though two got “comfort care,” the Minnesota Department of Health reported on July 1, 2022 (Just the News) Read more

Harris Accepts Only One Debate, Refuses to Commit to More Against Trump

Vice President Kamala Harris confirmed on Thursday her participation in one debate before this year’s election, which is two fewer than what former President Donald Trump is proposing.
A campaign official said Harris would not agree to the September 4 presidential debate on Fox News that was floated by Trump, ABC News correspondent Selina Wang shared in a post to X.
Wang further reported, citing the same official, that Harris views future debates as being “contingent” on Trump showing up to the ABC News debate that has been set for September 10. (Daily Wire) Read more

Why Iceland’s Recent Volcanic Eruptions May Just Be The Beginning
|
|
To experience a volcanic eruption is to witness nature’s raw power. If you would like to see one for yourself, Iceland is a great location for it. Since 2021, seven eruptions have taken place along the Reykjanes Peninsula, close to Reykjavík.
These recent Icelandic eruptions have garnered attention from Earth scientists like me. The eruptions help us understand how volcanoes work in incredible detail. My team has been taking samples from the erupting lava from the Reykjanes Peninsula and finding some interesting results.
One of our findings suggests that magma from the first eruption pooled just under the island’s surface, where it built up the energy to spectacularly erupt. This initial burst of volcanism made it easier for more eruptions to follow after it.
The island nation of Iceland is sometimes called “the land of ice and fire.” Early settlers witnessed several great “fires” – or volcanic eruptions – along the Reykjanes Peninsula.
After about 800 years without a volcanic event on the Reykjanes Peninsula, the Fagradalsfjall volcano roared to life on March 19, 2021. Then, two more discrete volcanic events occurred at Fagradalsfjall in 2022 and 2023. Subsequently, four more eruptions have taken place to the west at the Sundhnúkur fissure system in 2023 and 2024. A Surprise from Yemen: Former Muslim, Now a Believer in Jesus is Determined to Replace Cursing of Israel With Blessing
|
|
Going on pilgrimage to Mecca is a duty most Muslims aspire to, but John Ghanim was unprepared for what happened to him during the Hajj. Ghanim, who has since changed his Muslim name to John after the beloved disciple of Jesus, was excited about going to Mecca, but found waves of confusion engulfed him as he circled the kaaba. He said he lost his faith in Allah entirely.
Ghanim grew up in an extremist Muslim environment in Yemen, and had been roped into helping the Houthis distribute their message: “God is the greatest! Death to America, death to Israel! Curse on the Jews, victory to Islam!“ The young men of his village had been putting up signs and posters with the radical rallying cry, and the message seeped deep into his soul. He hated America, Israel, and all Jewish people. But all that would soon change. (AllIsrael.com) Read more
