Trump’s Tax Returns Must be Released to Congress: Department of Justice
Tax officials must give former President Donald Trump’s tax returns to a congressional panel, the Department of Justice said Friday. The House Ways and Means Committee has long sought the returns, only to be stymied by federal officials.
Rep. Richard Neal (D-Mass.), chairman of the panel, has said he wanted six years of Trump’s tax returns as part of a possible adjustment of federal law concerning tax policies. The attempt was blocked by the Treasury Department during the Trump administration.
“As I have maintained for years, the Committee’s case is very strong and the law is on our side. I am glad that the Department of Justice agrees and that we can move forward,” Neal told news outlets in a statement.
Trump did not immediately respond to a request for comment. (Epoch Times) Read more here.
- Lord God . . . here we go again. We thank You that, in time, President Trump's tax returns will demonstrate that he is exempt from any charges of wrongdoing; and that once again, he will be vindicated. Thank You, O Lord, for watching over this case, in Your name, amen and amen.
- "For the LORD will vindicate his people and have compassion on his servants." (Psalm 135:14)
White House Walks Back Statement on COVID-19 Lockdown Possibility
A White House spokeswoman walked back a statement on the possibility COVID-19 lockdowns will be reimplemented due to the Delta variant.
On Thursday, White House principal deputy press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre was asked by a Fox News reporter about whether future COVID-19 lockdowns would be considered. Jean-Pierre didn’t provide a direct answer, instead saying that the administration would follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other health experts, leading to speculation that more lockdowns could be in order in the near future.
But hours later, Jean-Pierre wrote on Twitter that the administration isn’t considering lockdowns.
“To be clear, here is what [President Biden] said this week: ‘more vaccinations and mask wearing in the areas most impacted by the Delta variant will enable us to avoid the kind of lockdowns, shutdowns, school closures, and disruptions we faced in 2020 … We are not going back to that,’” she wrote on Twitter.
“We will not be going back into lockdowns. Why? Because we now have the tools to put this virus behind us,” she continued. “The science says the vaccines work—including against the Delta variant. We urge Americans to get vaccinated.” (Epoch Times) Read more
- Father God, we are grateful to learn of this clarification, but we do ask that firm guidelines will now be given to protect the public and to allow each of us to decide, for ourselves, whether to take the vaccine. We bind the spirit of confusion that now encompasses all policies related to the control of both COVID and the Delta Variant; and we loose order and peace. Amen.
- "But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one." (Psalm 5:37)
America's Got Buyer's Remorse
By Gary Bauer
Campaign for Working Families
A lot of insiders here in Washington, particularly at the White House, were privately shocked this week. New polling from the Biden-friendly left-wing media showed that optimism about America's future and the direction of our country dropped by 20 points. That's an unprecedented decline in confidence. . .
The Washington insiders just can't figure it out. Why are Americans so upset and worried? Let me help them sort it out.
In the last 24 hours, 6,000 people crossed our southern border. This has been happening every single day since Joe Biden took office. Many of these illegal aliens have COVID. And Biden won't do anything to stop it.
But Biden was busy yesterday spreading fear to American citizens. White House officials are telling us to mask up again and suggesting that more lockdowns could be coming soon. None of that rhetoric is based on science. They're fearmongering because COVID has enabled the left to massively move America toward big government socialism.
By the way, let me remind you that during last year's campaign Joe Biden said he had a plan to stop COVID. Biden lied, and people died.
But it doesn't stop there.
Another police officer was killed by a thug in the last 24 hours.
Sixteen people were shot in Chicago in the past 24 hours.
Minneapolis just set a new murder record.
Every major American city is in the grip of a crime wave.
Radical leftists are constantly stoking racial hatred.
Medical schools are denying biological reality.
While inflation is skyrocketing, Democrats in Congress are scheming to spend trillions more.
The influential New York Times ran an editorial yesterday saying illegal aliens should be allowed to vote.
In short, it's hard to be optimistic in Joe Biden and Kamala Harris's America. And their falling poll numbers show that many Americans are having buyer's remorse. (Read more)
