Today's Top Story
Former President Donald Trump at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Fla., on Jan. 31, 2022.
Court Orders Trump to Sit for Deposition in New York Investigation; Trump Responds

Former President Donald Trump and two of his children must testify in an investigation being conducted by New York Attorney Letitia James into the Trump Organization, a judge ruled on Feb. 18.

Trump’s lawyers argued that the probe violates the U.S. and New York constitutions and thus the subpoenas issued against him and his children should be quashed but New York Supreme Court Judge Arthur Engoron disagreed.

Engoron said he’s considered the arguments “and finds them to be unavailing and/or non-dispositive.”

James, a Democrat, “has the clear right” to question under oath principals of an entity after uncovering “copious evidence of possible financial fraud,” he added in his 8-page ruling.

Trump, Ivanka Trump, and Donald Trump Jr. must sit for depositions within 21 days of the order. However, each can invoke their Fifth Amendment rights, the judge said.

... Trump said James is “selectively prosecut[ing] him and his family.

“After viewing millions of pages of documents over many years, they come up with a ‘fringe benefits’ case on a car, an apartment, and on grandchildren’s education,” the former president said in a statement. “She is doing everything within their corrupt discretion to interfere with my business relationships, and with the political process.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

- Father God, we pray that President Trump and his two children will each plead the Fifth Amendment in this case, so that their own rights to privacy can be honored, and this witch hunt can be stopped. In Your Name, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

- "Let the wickedness of the wicked come to an end, but establish the just." (Psalm 7:9)
Canada Goes Tow to Tow with Truckers
They blasted their horns and sang "O Canada!" Some of the protestors linked arms as Ottawa police moved through the 300 semis and campers, arresting people along the way. Others locked themselves in their cars or defiantly rolled canisters of diesel down the blockade. But that was the extent of the "backlash." When officers started cracking down on the Freedom Convoy Friday morning, there were no Molotov cocktails. The truckers didn't torch government buildings or throw fireworks at mounted police. Ever since the demonstration started, they've been composed, peaceful. And the American Left can't stand it.

South of the Canadian border, if it's not on fire -- it's not a protest. That's what Democrats and their anarchist friends have taught us since George Floyd's death sparked a nationwide mob in 2020. After more than a year of looting, vandalizing, arson, and general domestic terror, what the Canadians have managed to accomplish is almost unrecognizable to the U.S. Left. To the rest of America, it's a refreshing reminder of the kind of civil disobedience this nation used to embrace for change. It's a peaceful protest, Senator Rand Paul (R-Ky.) told the Daily Signal, "clog things up, make them think about the [vaccine] mandates."

In American cities, for months, there was no time to think about anything. People were too busy reaching for fire extinguishers, barricading their doors and boarding up their buildings like we were forced to do here in the nation's capital. So it's no wonder that the majority of people in this country applaud the truckers in Canada for showing the world how effective nonviolent disruptions can be.

. . . At the end of the day, the most important part of this protest isn't who's funding it or where it's happening -- it's the motivation behind it: personal freedom. No one in a civilized society -- least of all Canada or America -- should want to violate the rights of conscience, FRC's Owen Strachan argued. "I wouldn't want to do that as an American citizen, even if I'm not a Christian -- because the rights of conscience are not like 37th on the list of important factors in a free society, the rights of conscience are basically first. If you take those away, you no longer have a free society."

As more North American leaders are exposed as tyrants, he said, let's all be in prayer that some good -- some genuine good -- comes from this. Hopefully, one day soon, the freedoms that our country's very first protestors fought for will find their way back into the government's respect. (Tony Perkins; Family Research Council; excerpt. Rebels announce evacuation from east Ukraine
Biden sure Putin will invade Ukraine in days as civilians bussed out

MOSCOW/KYIV/DONETSK, Feb 18 (Reuters) - Russia's Vladimir Putin has decided to invade Ukraine within days, U.S. President Joe Biden said on Friday after separatists backed by Moscow told civilians to leave breakaway regions on buses, a move the West fears is part of a pretext for an attack.

In one of the worst post-Cold War crises, Russia wants to stop Kyiv joining NATO and accuses the West of hysteria, saying it has no plans to invade, while the United States and allies are adamant the military build-up continues.

Warning sirens blared in the breakaway regions of Donetsk and Luhansk on Friday after rebel leaders there announced the evacuation of hundreds of thousands of people to Russia.

"We have reason to believe the Russian forces are planning to and intend to attack Ukraine in the coming week, in the coming days," Biden told reporters at the White House, adding that Kyiv would be a target.

"As of this moment, I am convinced that he has made the decision."

Asked about the evacuation, White House press secretary Jen Psaki said it was a "good example" of what Washington fears.

"We have ... long predicted for all of you that the Russians would take part in pretexts or steps that would lay a predicate for either war or to create confusion or spread misinformation on the ground," she told reporters. (Reuters) Read more.

In Context: Excluding the Indispensable Supports
Senate Majority Leader Schumer has scheduled two items for Monday, 2/28, after its recess for President's Day and Washington's birthday next week.

The first item is the reading of
President George Washington's Farewell Address which has been an annual tradition in the Senate since 1896, this year to be read by Sen. Patrick Leahy of Vermont.

Among Washington's words were these:
Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports. In vain would that man claim the tribute of patriotism who should labor to subvert these great pillars of human happiness, these firmest props of the duties of men and citizens. The mere politician, equally with the pious man, ought to respect and to cherish them. A volume could not trace all their connections with private and public felicity.

Let it simply be asked where is the security for property, for reputation, for life, if the sense of religious obligation desert the oaths, which are the instruments of investigation in courts of justice?

And let us with caution indulge the supposition that morality can be maintained without religion.

Whatever may be conceded to the influence of refined education on minds of peculiar structure, reason and experience both forbid us to expect that national morality can prevail in exclusion of religious principle.
The second item on the Senate agenda for Monday, 2/28, is a demonstration of that “exclusion of religious principle” about which President Washington warned generations not yet born—including us.

Following the reading of the Address, the Senate “resumes consideration of the motion to proceed to Calendar No. 139,
H.R. 3755.” Majority Leader Schumer described this action as “the first procedural step for the Senate to consider the Women's Health Protection Act. Across the country, the assault on women's healthcare has intensified to levels not seen in decades. So the Senate is going to vote, when we return on February 28, to take action.”

A
more accurate title for this bill would be the Abortion Protection Act as it removes all restrictions in every state for “abortion services before fetal viability or after fetal viability.” The summary makes it clear this bill is all about abortion.

The conclusion that this is any way acceptable, desirable or necessary is only possible if the supports of religion and morality have been subverted and replaced with education that does not appeal and submit to a Higher Authority, which is no pillar for human happiness or firm prop for citizens.

America is less than a year away from 50 years of the shedding of innocent unborn blood being disguised as “women's health” and being legally shielded from any punishment.

“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap” (Galatians 6:7). In all of the New Testament, the Greek word for mocked is only used here. It comes from the word translated “roar” in Revelation 10:3 which compares an angel's loud voice to a lion's roar.

Our enemy may roar and devour (1 Peter 5:8) and have great influence for now—including over the shedding of innocent blood—but the Day is coming when God will fully disarm principalities and power and make a public spectacle of triumph over them (Colossians 2:15).

God's servants will “will be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand” (Romans 14:4), and for the sake of the Nation's private and public happiness they would do well to avert it from excluding religious principle.

In Memory: Representative Jim Hagedorn
President Donald Trump and Jim Hagedorn at a Make America Great Again rally in Rochester, Minn., on Oct. 4, 2018.

Rep. Jim Hagedorn (R-Minn.) has died, his family confirmed on Friday. He was 59.

“It is with a broken heart, shattered spirit and overwhelming sadness I share my husband Congressman Jim Hagedorn passed away peacefully last night,” Hagedorn’s wife, former Minnesota state Republican party chair Jennifer Carnahan, wrote on social media.

Hagedorn, who previously authored the blog Mr. Conservative, was elected to the House in 2018. He represented Minnesota’s 1st congressional district.

“Jim loved our country and loved representing the people of southern Minnesota,” Carnahan added. “Every moment of every day he lived his dream by serving others. There was no stronger conservative in our state than my husband; and it showed in how he voted, led and fought for our country.”

“While nothing can accurately prepare you for the unimaginable pain, intense sorrow, suffocating grief and seemingly never-ending emptiness that engulfs the entire body, soul and spirit when your forever love passes away; at least we can smile knowing Jim is smiling from heaven encouraging us to keep chasing our dreams, loving unconditionally and fighting for the country,” Carnahan added in her social media post.

Former President Donald Trump issued a statement on Hagedorn’s death, saying he was “a strong and effective legislator for the great people of Southern Minnesota.”

“I campaigned with Jim in 2018, and enjoyed working with him in Congress,” Trump continued. “May he rest in Peace, and his family find comfort during this difficult time. He will be greatly missed!” (The Epoch Times) Read more.

- Father God, we thank You that this member of Congress is now resting with You in eternity. We pray for his wife, Jennifer Carnahan, and all of his family members, that they might know the comfort of Your touch in their time of grieving. We ask that the good work that he began for his people in the State of Minnesota would bear much fruit over time, in Your name, amen and amen.

- "Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matt. 5:4)

Dear Saints,

A lifestyle of REPENTANCE is so close to the heart of God.

Indeed, He commands us to  "Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand!" Matthew 3:2

How, then, can we approach His Throne of GRACE, in repentance?

We invite you to join us every week on Sunday evening, as we explore this vital topic together. We present a different prayer focus each week, leading us into repentance, so that we might approach His Throne of Grace in repentance, presenting ourselves to Him as a pure and a spotless Bride, without spot or wrinkle. (Ephesians 5:27)

Praying together, we desire to fulfill the mandate of Psalm 139:

" Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; 24 And see if there is any wicked way in me, And lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:24

You can join us, any Sunday evening, at 10:00 p.m. EST by calling:

WELCOME!

". . . and if My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

"Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to the prayer offered in this place."
(2 Chronicles 7:14,15)
