Program for Tuesday: Senator Wicker will be recognized to deliver Washington's Farewell Address. Following his remarks, Senate will be in a period of morning business (not to extend beyond 5:30 p.m.).

At 5:30 p.m., Senator Thune will be recognized, and Senators should expect a series of votes on or in relation to nominations and other pending calendar business.


Thursday, 2/13, Senate resumed consideration of two nominations:
  • Howard Lutnick, of New York, to be Secretary of Commerce
  • Kelly Loeffler, of Georgia, to be Administrator of the Small Business Administration

Additional schedule information:

At 5:30 p.m., Majority Leader Thune to be recognized. At that time, Leader Thune is expected to move to proceed to Executive Session for the consideration of Executive Calendar #23 Kashyap Patel, of Nevada, to be Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a term of ten years. A roll call vote is expected on that motion. If the motion is made and agreed to, Senator Thune intends to file cloture on the nomination.

Following that vote, the Senate is expected to vote on confirmation of Executive Calendar #19 Howard Lutnick, of New York, to be Secretary of Commerce.

Additional votes are possible Tuesday evening in relation to a motion to proceed to Cal. #13 S.Con.Res. 7, budget resolution, or confirmation of Executive Calendar #20 Kelly Loeffler, of Georgia, to be Administrator of the Small Business Administration.

Tuesday, February 18, at ~5:30 p.m., at least 2 roll call votes expected:
  1. Motion to proceed to Executive Session for the consideration of Executive Calendar #23 Kashyap Patel, of Nevada, to be Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation for a term of ten years.
  2. Confirmation of Executive Calendar #19 Howard Lutnick, of New York, to be Secretary of Commerce.
The House is in a district work period next week.
