Schedule for pro forma sessions and January 3, 2025
The Senate stands adjourned for pro forma sessions only with no business conducted on the following dates and times:
  • Monday, December 23 at 9:30am
  • Thursday, December 26 at 2:30pm
  • Monday, December 30 at 12:30pm
  • Thursday, January 2 at 12 noon
  • Friday, January 3 at 11:45am — adjourn 118th Congress sine die
The Senate convenes the First Session of the 119th Congress at 12 noon, Friday, January 3, 2025, pursuant to the Constitution.

Following the prayer and pledge, the certificates of election will be presented. Senators will then be sworn in. After the swearing-in, there will be a live quorum. After a quorum is established, the Senate will adopt a number of housekeeping resolutions.
The House meets in Pro Forma sessions during the final district work period of the 118th Congress which began Friday, December 20, 2024.
No committee meetings are scheduled until January 2025.
