26 Dead as Footage Shows Significant Flooding in New York City and New Jersey
|
|
Torrential rain spawned significant flooding across northern New Jersey, New York City, Philadelphia, and other areas on Wednesday night as the remnants of Hurricane Ida passed over the region.
New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio declared an emergency for the city, while officials on Thursday said that at least 22 people died in New York and New Jersey due to the severe weather, according to The Associated Press.
“I’m declaring a state of emergency in New York City tonight. We’re enduring an historic weather event tonight with record breaking rain across the city, brutal flooding and dangerous conditions on our roads,” he wrote.
New Yorkers and New Jersey residents uploaded footage on Twitter and social media of flooding inundating cars, flooded subways, backflushing toilets, water going into people’s apartments, and buses driving through high waters.
The Newark International Airport was forced to shut down and suspend flights due to flooding. Videos showed the baggage claim area entirely covered in floodwaters.
The Metropolitan Transit Authority suspended subway service for most areas in the city due to floodwaters entering subway stations and the tracks.
At least 12 people died in New York City, police said, one of them in a car and eight in flooded basement apartments that often serve as relatively affordable homes in one of the nation’s most expensive housing markets. Officials said at least eight died in New Jersey and three in Pennsylvania’s suburban Montgomery County; one was killed by a falling tree, one drowned in a car and another in a home. An on-duty state trooper in Connecticut was swept away in his cruiser and later taken to a hospital, state police and local authorities said. (Read more) Source: The Epoch Times

1. Coming soon: Isolation for those who have not received booster shot - Israel National News
The Ministry of Health on Wednesday decided to change the conditions of the green pass so that starting in October, anyone who is entitled to a third vaccine and has not received it - will be considered to be unvaccinated, Channel 12 Newsrevealed.
As such, starting next month, those who have not been vaccinated with a third dose of a vaccine will have to go into isolation if they come in contact with a COVID-19 carrier.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health does not intend to publish new restrictions ahead of Rosh Hashanah and the Tishrei holidays. Citizens will be asked to act responsibly but no restrictions will be placed on having family meals. (Read more)

2. Israeli teacher barricades herself in kindergarten after refusing to vaccinate - World Israel News
A special education kindergarten teacher in Haifa barricaded herself inside the kindergarten Thursday morning and refused to leave over COVID guidelines, Israeli media reported.
The awkward situation developed into a small drama when the assisting teacher was asked to leave because she had refused to get vaccinated for COVID and was not tested for the virus before coming to work.
After she refused to leave several times, staff members alerted the Education Ministry.
Eventually, a team of inspectors was dispatched to the scene and forcefully removed the teacher, before filing a complaint against her with the police. (Read more)

3. Gazan killed in clashes with IDF during nightly border riots - Times of Israel
A Palestinian man was killed and another was seriously injured by Israeli fire during violent demonstrations along the Gaza border Thursday night, authorities in the Hamas-run enclave said.
Thursday marked the sixth day in a row that Palestinians held fiery demonstrations along the frontier, burning tires and hurling explosives at Israeli troops stationed along the border, the Israel Defense Forces said.
The Israeli military acknowledged using live fire as well as non-lethal crowd control measures to disperse the rioters. (Read more)

4. Bennett to take action on China investments after Biden meeting - Jerusalem Post
Prime Minister Naftali Bennett and his staff returned from the US this week with an understanding of how the Biden administration expects Israel to act when it comes to investments from China, a senior government source said this week, and that the prime minister plans to take action. The source would not specify what that action will be.
Among the possibilities Bennett has considered is moving the committee overseeing major foreign investments from the Finance Ministry to the National Security Council, which is directly under his authority.
Meanwhile, the government has delayed a tender to build part of the Tel Aviv Light Rail because a Chinese company submitted a bid, making the situation diplomatically sensitive. (Read more)

5. Knesset Gives Preliminary Approval to Israel’s First Budget in Three Years - Algemeiner
i24 News – Israel’s new government took an important step on Thursday to passing the first state budget in more than three years after the Knesset (Israel Parliament) gave preliminary approval by a vote of 59 to 53.
The Knesset plenum voted in favor of the budget hours after the Finance Ministry and Health Ministry reached a deal to add one billion shekels ($311,696,500) to the healthcare system on top of the billion shekels agreed to earlier.
“I’ve been in this chamber for many years, and I can’t remember a period like this. The budget is a priorities list of the government, and this deliberation symbolizes more than anything the end of this crazy period and the return to normality. This is proof that this government functions and the coalition works,” said Finance Minister Avidgor Liberman.

6. Sweden Bans Travelers From Israel, One of the Most Vaccinated Nations - The Epoch Times
Sweden became the second European Union country to ban Israeli residents from entry due to a rise in COVID-19 cases in Israel, despite the country being one of the most vaccinated countries in the world.
Portugal on Wednesday became the first EU country to ban travel from Israel due to a rise in cases. Both countries are following the EU’s recommendation to remove Israel from its list of green countries.
Sweden also banned the entry of citizens from the United States, Kosovo, Lebanon, Montenegro, and North Macedonia. (Read more)

1. White House National Security Adviser Declines to Call Taliban an Enemy: “It’s Hard to Put a Label on it” – The Epoch Times
White House national security adviser Jake Sullivan refused to brand the Taliban an enemy of the United States during an appearance on MSNBC on Aug 31.
Sullivan appeared on the show just days after the final withdrawal of American troops from Afghanistan, which has seen the Taliban take control of the capital after the leader of the U.S.-backed Afghan government fled the country. When asked by reporters about U.S. relations with the Taliban following their takeover of Kabul and whether they were considered a “frenemy, adversary, or enemy,” Sullivan said he was unsure how to define the relationship with the terrorist group.
“Well, it’s hard to put a label on it, in part, because we have yet to see what they are going to be now that they are in control—physical control of Afghanistan,” Sullivan said. (Read more)

2. Hans von Spakovsky: Missing Ballots in Three States Exceed Joe Biden’s Victory Margins – The War Room Report
Hans von Spakovsky, manager of the Heritage Foundation’s Election Law Reform Initiative and a senior legal fellow of the Meese Center for Legal and Judicial Studies, said president Joe Biden’s margins of victory in Arizona, Nevada, and Wisconsin in the 2020 presidential election were narrower than the states’ respective totals of unaccounted-for ballots.
Biden’s margin of victory in Wisconsin was approximately 20,000 votes despite the number of ballots “missing or undeliverable” in the state amounting to 83,000, von Spakovsky noted.
“Remember the margin of victory in Wisconsin was only 20,000 votes, and that basically 82,000 ballots were either lost or undeliverable or were rejected,” von Spakovsky said on Wednesday’s edition of SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Daily with host Alex Marlow. “That’s four times the margin of victory.”
“Those are the numbers that the Wisconsin Election Commission itself reported to the U.S. Election Assistance Commission,” he added. (Read more)

3. Europe’s CDC Breaks with Biden Admin, Says Covid-19 Vaccine Boosters “Not Urgent” – ZeroHedge
The Biden admin's rushed decision to enforce covid booster shots on the population, is getting pushback not only from the FDA, where two top vaccine regulators resigned from the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday, revealing anger, frustration, and turmoil at the federal agency as it balks at the White House's steamrolling of accepted rules and regulations, but also from Europe.
Overnight, Europe's CDC - the Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) - said there was no urgent need for booster doses of COVID-19 vaccines for the fully vaccinated, citing data on the effectiveness of shots.
The comments follow a similar statement from the European Medicines Agency last month that more data was needed on the duration of protection after full inoculation to recommend using booster shots.
The evidence on real-world effectiveness shows that all vaccines authorized in the region are highly protective against COVID-19-related hospitalisation, severe disease and death, the ECDC said. But the agency said extra doses can be considered for people who experience a limited response to the standard regimen, adding that these shots should be treated differently from booster doses. 4. Letter to the Vaccinated – Global Research
Following their “Open Letter to the Unvaccinated”, an expanding group of Canadian scholars has now written a letter addressing “the vaccinated”. The writers expose the divisiveness of vaccination status and denounce the resulting rift in society.
Giving up civil liberties in exchange for a false sense of safety is futile. We must not accept a descent into medical apartheid in Canada and around the world.
The letter appeals both to those who chose to take the vaccine and those who were coerced. It reflects on the broader implications of our actions in an effort to collaborate on a constructive path forward.
Open Letter to the Vaccinated:
Prime Minister Trudeau recently warned that “there will be consequences” if federal employees do not comply with vaccine mandates. This is a voice of tyranny that has reverberated fear and heightened agitation across our country. It has launched our nation into deep division around mass vaccination and brought our collective recovery from this pandemic to a critical head. In fact, it forces us, as a country, to finally ask: indeed, what are those consequences?
What are the societal consequences of being divided along the lines of vaccination status? What are the consequences of mandating such an insufficiently tested medical intervention? How is this all supposed to end well? (Read more)

5. Israeli Study Shows that the Human Immune System is Stronger Than Vaccines – Pandemic News
The natural immune protection that develops after a SARS-CoV-2 infection is a stronger shield against the delta variant of the coronavirus than the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine, according to a study from Israel.
The newly released data showed that people who had been infected with COVID-19 were much less likely to get the delta variant of the disease, develop symptoms from it, or become hospitalized due to the virus. The same study showed that those who have gotten their full doses were six to 13 times more likely to get infected compared to unvaccinated individuals who were previously infected with the disease.
The researchers also found that those who were previously diagnosed with COVID-19 were more protected against reinfection than those who were vaccinated.
This new work could further discuss whether previously infected people need to receive both doses of the Pfizer vaccine or a similar mRNA one from Moderna. (Read more)

6. Researches Show That Children are Much Safer Developing Natural Immunity to COVID 19 Than Getting Vaccinated – Pandemic News
The U.S. and U.K. governments, as well as public health authorities, are pushing for children to get vaccinated against the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19). But researchers believe that allowing children to develop natural immunity to the coronavirus is better than giving them experimental vaccines that are likely to cause health issues. In the U.S., the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine has now been approved for use in children aged 12 to 17. But only adults are eligible to get the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines because studies in children are still ongoing. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) have not yet approved any vaccine for children below 12-years old. The two agencies await the completion of clinical trials so they can make a decision. (Read more)

7. Over 100,000 Sign Petition Against Vaccination of Australians aged 12 to 15 – The Epoch Times
Over 108,000 Australians have signed a petition to the federal Parliament against the use of vaccines on adolescents aged 12 to 16.
The petition comes after the nation’s immunisation advisory body approved the use of the Pfizer vaccine (Comirnaty) on Australians aged 12 to 15 from Sept. 13 onwards. The petition, Immediately Stop COVID-19 Vaccines for children aged 12-16, which closed on Sept. 1, was signed by 108,892 individuals claiming mass vaccination of children would be a “gamble” on their lives.
“There is no short, medium, or long-term data to support the benefits outweigh the risk for this age group, this is a gamble on children’s lives and the largest experiment known to man,” the petition read. (Read more)

9. Biden Admin Must Provide Detailed Info About Americans Left in Afghanistan: GOP Senators - The Epoch Times
A group of 26 GOP senators, led by Tom Cotton (R-Ark.), demanded the Biden Administration provide the exact number of Americans left in Afghanistan and how they have been vetting a large number of evacuees.
“Our immediate priority is the safety and well-being of American citizens, permanent residents, and allies who were left behind in Afghanistan,” GOP senators said in an official letter (pdf) to President Joe Biden Thursday morning.
The senators said that signatories of the letter might have different opinions about whether the United States should have maintained a military presence in Afghanistan, but “we all agree that the arbitrary and poorly-planned method by which you withdrew from Afghanistan caused this crisis.”
“Of the American citizens still in Afghanistan, how many are currently in contact with the State Department? … How many have expressed a desire to be repatriated to the United States?” the senators asked.
“How did the administration reach this estimate, and what steps is the administration taking to find and connect with Americans who may still be in Afghanistan but who are not in contact with the State Department?” (Read more)

10. Sen. Joe Manchin Writes He Won't Support Democrats' $3.5 Trillion Budget Bill - The Epoch Times
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) on Thursday said Democrats need to take a “strategic pause” before considering a $3.5 trillion bill that is designed to further push President Joe Biden’s agenda.
“Instead of rushing to spend trillions on new government programs and additional stimulus funding, Congress should hit a strategic pause on the budget-reconciliation legislation,” Manchin, considered by many to be the most conservative Democrat in the Senate, wrote in an op-ed for the Wall Street Journal. “A pause is warranted because it will provide more clarity on the trajectory of the pandemic, and it will allow us to determine whether inflation is transitory or not.”
He added: “While some have suggested this reconciliation legislation must be passed now, I believe that making budgetary decisions under artificial political deadlines never leads to good policy or sound decisions. I have always said if I can’t explain it, I can’t vote for it, and I can’t explain why my Democratic colleagues are rushing to spend $3.5 trillion.” (Read more)

Breaking! Biden May Have Brought Terror Cells to the US as Americans Were Left Behind in Afghanistan
The war in Afghanistan may officially be over, but the costs and scars from it will haunt America for a generation or more.
The country’s longest conflict ended exactly the way it began: The Taliban are in charge, and though thousands of their fighters were killed over the course of decades, in the end that made no difference.
The way in which Joe Biden left the country was even a disgrace. After taking office nearly eight months ago, the operations to evacuate were chaotic, deadly, and resulted in the loss of tens of billions of dollars’ worth of military gear, much of which will no doubt be used to suppress and murder any Afghans left behind by our government who helped us for years and trusted us to get them out.

Bringing the Afghans with criminal backgrounds here was a cunning plan to turn America into another Afghanistan. A Reasonable Solution To The Ongoing COVID Threat

The House Foreign Affairs Committee Minority Staff Report documents COVID gain of function research was “partially funded by grants from the US National Institute of Allergy & Infectious Disease and the National Institute of Aging within the US National Institutes of Health (NIH), as well as the US Agency for International Development (USAID).” This gain of function is weaponization. Democrats blocked a bill to require declassification of information related to the origins of any role the Wuhan Institute of Virology may have played in the pandemic’s outbreak. This is politicization. The politicization has extended into mass disruption of society with no end in sight, but there is a reasonable solution to this COVID threat.
There is deep divide about the safety and efficacy of the COVID “vaccines.” There is distrust of the reporting of COVID infection rates, hospitalizations and deaths. There is misgiving about treatments. There are those, especially politicians, big business, and media, who rabidly accept the paradigm that the only way to fight COVID is with 100% vaccination. They ridicule, belittle, discriminate against, and ostracize any other point of view. There are those with great concerns about the long-term impact of these hastily developed “vaccines.” Those who attack the unvaccinated often do so without citing the very science that they say they so dearly revere. Larry could rapidly strengthen
into Category 4 hurricane
|
|
|
Larry strengthened into the fifth hurricane of the 2021 Atlantic hurricane season early Thursday over the eastern tropical Atlantic, and AccuWeather forecasters said that the storm is forecast to reach major hurricane strength in the coming days.
Larry was packing maximum sustained winds of 80 mph by 11 a.m. EDT Thursday— up from 70 mph Wednesday evening. It was located 660 miles to the west of the southernmost Cabo Verde Islands as it moved to the west at 17 mph.
The storm is projected to remain over the open waters of the Atlantic for several more days, but it could eventually approach Bermuda -- or even veer toward North America.
The system will continue to move toward the west over the next few days before it makes a turn to the northwest this weekend.
"Further strengthening, into major hurricane strength (Category 3 or stronger with sustained winds of 111 mph or greater), is predicted to occur this weekend or early next week," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Rob Miller said.
The storm is currently forecast to reach Category 4 strength, according to AccuWeather meteorologists. A Category 4 hurricane has winds between 130-156 mph. (Accuweather)

By a 5-4 vote, the Court said Texas' law prohibiting abortions once a medical professional detects a heartbeat will stand. Read the full story from American Family News here.
Advocates for killing babies had filed an emergency appeal asking the Court to block enforcement of the law that went into effect yesterday. Chief Justice John Roberts voted with the liberal members of the Court to keep abortions going in Texas.
The law, SB8, was passed by the Texas legislature and signed into law by Gov. Greg Abbott on May 19.
This is a huge day for the pro-life movement and I ask you to join me in thanking God for this wonderful victory.

A U.S. Air Force crew on an evacuation flight out of Kabul this week helped save hundreds of lives – and delivered a new one before touching down safely at a coalition airbase.
The flight nurse, Capt. Leslie Green, of the 375th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron, told Fox News Wednesday it was the first time she’d ever helped deliver a baby.
"The hard part, she did by herself ... the baby was perfect ... I had no idea she was pregnant just because of the clothing," [Flight Nurse, Capt. Leslie Green] said. "It's very hard to tell. She was completely covered head to toe, couldn't even see her eyes" ... The evacuation flight carried hundreds of people out of Kabul to safety—including many children. They are among more than 80,000 people evacuated from the country since Aug. 14, including over 4,400 Americans.
