Five big upcoming Supreme Court decisions
|
|
The Supreme Court is poised for a whirlwind end of term, with justices expected to clear the court’s docket of more than 20 pending cases before July.
The remaining disputes could yield several landmark decisions and provide the clearest indication yet of the 6-3 conservative court’s increasingly rightward tilt, with former President Trump's nominees now accounting for three of the nine justices.
Here are five big cases to watch.
1. Same-sex foster parents and religious liberty
2. ObamaCare challenge
3. Voting rights (Arizona)
4. NCAA athlete compensation
5. Student free speech
> > > To read the details of all of these cases, please go here.

- Holy Father God, we come before You on bended knee, asking only for Your perfect will to be rendered in all of these five critical cases. We ask that You would move upon the heart of each of these Supreme Court Justices to humble themselves and to come before You, asking wisdom for each case that is now before them. Help them, O Lord we pray, amen and amen.
- "But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him." (James 1:5)

"The IDF is prepared for any scenario, including a resumption of hostilities, in the face of continuing terror activities from the Gaza Strip."

2. Israel on High Alert as Flag Parade Set to Go Ahead Despite Hamas Threats - CBN News
Israeli security forces are on high alert throughout the country, preparing for a possible eruption of violence in the West Bank and/or rocket fire from Gaza after an Israeli flag parade in Jerusalem was given the go-ahead to proceed.
The event is being allowed despite calls from Hamas and other Palestinian terror groups to let Tuesday be “a day of mobilization and a bond towards al-Aqsa Mosque, and a day of anger and defiance of the occupier.”
Israel’s new Public Security Minister Omer Barlev said the police were well-prepared for the march, The Jerusalem Post reported.
“The situation in the Palestinian sphere is volatile and we are prepared for a renewed outbreak of fighting,” said IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, late on Monday. (Read more)

Additional Iron Dome batteries have been deployed in case Hamas decides to fire rockets in response to the march. Police forces are also preparing for potential riots in Jerusalem. (Read more)

6. Palestinians said to assemble new peace negotiating team at initiative of US - Times of Israel
The Palestinians have assembled a new team of negotiators, with the encouragement of the United States, for renewed peace talks with Israel, according to a television report Tuesday as the new Israeli government settled into office.
Citing a “senior official in Ramallah,” the West Bank city where the Palestinian Authority is based, Channel 12 news said the PA negotiating team was set to demand an extension of the PA’s authority in the West Bank as part of talks brokered by US President Joe Biden’s administration. Nobody on the reported team was named.
The demands were said to include blocking Israel Defense Forces soldiers from entering Area A of the West Bank, which is under the full control of the PA, and to have expanded authority — including on security issues — in Areas B and C. The PA has civil control in Area B, while Israel has security control. Israel maintains control over both civil and security matters in Area C.
The PA was also reportedly to demand other unspecified “trust-building measures” aimed at maintaining the viability of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. (Read more)

1. Pompeo launches political group ahead of possible White House bid - The Hill
Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is launching a political group dedicated to helping Republicans in next year's midterm elections. Pompeo confirmed his plans to Politico this week, saying stymying President Biden's agenda and regaining control of the House and Senate should be the top priorities for the GOP.
“It is unambiguously clear to me that if we don’t get it right in the next 16 or 17 months, what will happen over these next four years will make it incredibly difficult for whoever is elected president in 2024. So that is my singular focus,” Pompeo said.
The former senator from Kansas said he told congressional leaders in both parties before starting the political action committee, which he is calling the Champion American Values PAC. Pompeo , a loyalist to former President Trump, is widely expected to be considering a bid for the White House in 2024. He has trips planned to California and Iowa in the coming months to participate in conservative fundraisers and speaking engagements.

- Dear Lord, we bless this effort to place solid, conservative people in office and pray that this begins to bring about changes in the liberal direction of so many elected officials. We leave it in Your hands as to who will run for president against the current administration but pray it will be a wise and patriotic American with a Godly view of Your plans for our country. Lord, raise up a defense for us from the plans of ungodly men for our nation.

2. Trump rips into state GOP senators over audit hesitancy - DML News
In a scorching statement on Monday, former President Donald Trump ripped into two Republican Pennsylvania state senators, for dragging their feet on allowing a forensic audit to be conducted in their state. Trump slammed state senators Jake Corman and David Argall.
His statement comes after a group of Pennsylvania Republicans traveled to Arizona and met with state lawmakers there regarding the Maricopa County election audit being conducted.
“Why is State Senator Jake Corman of Pennsylvania fighting so hard that there not be a Forensic Audit of the 2020 Presidential Election Scam? Corman is fighting as though he were a Radical Left Democrat, saying that a Forensic Audit of Pennsylvania not take place. Why is David Argall playing the same game?
Are they stupid, corrupt, or naive? What is going on? Other State Senators want this Forensic Audit to take place – immediately.” (Read more)
|
|
- Father God, we pray for these two state senators that President Trump has brought into the open and ask that they would walk in Your truth. May they have the courage and spines to do the right thing for their state. Please change them or expose any corruption that needs to be brought before a court of law. Cause their voices of opposition against what's right for Pennsylvania to be muted and of no effect regarding the call for a forensic audit.

3. Georgia investigating Fulton County ballot drop box forms from 2020 election - Washington Examiner
The Georgia secretary of state's office is investigating whether Fulton County monitored absentee ballots returned in drop boxes for the 2020 presidential election.
Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said the investigation was necessary because Fulton County’s elections leadership "fail[ed] the voters of Fulton County and the voters of Georgia," leaving a void that required "new leadership to step up and take charge."
"New revelations that Fulton County is unable to produce all ballot drop box transfer documents will be investigated thoroughly, as we have with other counties that failed to follow Georgia rules and regulations regarding drop boxes. This cannot continue," he tweeted on Monday afternoon. (Read more)

- Father, we ask You to absolutely expose the truth. May it be shouted from the housetops and in the highways and byways. There is a growing contempt for the apparent cover-up of numerous illegitimate activities surrounding our elections. May this whole thing be shoved into the fire of God, to be purified and cleansed, and that the dross, tares and filth become ashes trampled under Your feet, Holy One.
- "Let both grow together until the harvest, and at the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, 'First gather together the tares and bind them in bundles to burn them, but gather the wheat into my barn.'" (Matthew 13:30)

4. Arizona attorney general defends Maricopa vote audit against ‘hysterical’ DOJ criticism - Washington Examiner
Arizona’s attorney general today warned the Biden Justice Department to back off its criticism of the state Senate’s audit of the Maricopa County 2020 vote, charging that it was giving into “hysterical” liberal Trump haters.
“My office is not amused by the DOJ's posturing and will not tolerate any effort to undermine or interfere with our State Senate's audit to reassure Arizonans of the accuracy of our elections,” wrote Attorney General Mark Brnovich to Attorney General Merrick Garland.
“We stand ready to defend federalism and state sovereignty against any partisan attacks or federal overreach,” he added.
Garland last week mocked election audits such as the one in Maricopa County. “Many of the justifications proffered in support of these post-election audits and restrictions on voting have relied on assertions of material vote fraud in the 2020 election that have been refuted by law enforcement and intelligence agencies,” he said. - Thank you Father, for giving courage and strength to people like this Attorney General and others for standing up to federal overreach against the state of Arizona. We bless them and ask You to continue to call more citizens to the wall in support of sovereign state's rights. Let the DOJ be brought under Your authority to learn Godly righteousness and justice within that department, in Jesus name.

5. Defective COVID shots given at Times Square vaccination site - New York Post
The operator of the pop-up COVID vaccination site in the former “NFL Experience” building in Times Square sent out an emergency notice informing 899 patients that it erroneously injected them with expired Pfizer doses.
The patients were told by ATC Vaccination Services that they need to get another shot because the firm “cannot guarantee the effectiveness” of the doses they received.
“We are contacting you concerning the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine you received at Times Square – NFL Experience vaccination site on June 5 to June 10, 2021. It was recognized after the vaccine was administered, that it had been in the freezer beyond the approved time frame prior to it being administered,” David Savitsky said in an email to patients.
A dad of two teen daughters who were given the faulty shots last week was left fuming after getting the email and a phone call from ATC Vaccination Services about the mix up. (Read more)

- Father God, if the COVID Quagmire is not already crazy enough, we now have expired vaccine/incompetence to deal with. Omnipotent Lord, we ask You to remember the countless numbers of prayers Your people have prayed for protection over all who choose to receive the experimental gene therapy. We stand in the gap and continue to ask for wisdom for all concerned regarding returning for a “new” shot; and please bring healing, as needed.
- Your ears will hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” whenever you turn to the right or to the left. (Isaiah 30:21)

6. Trump Tears Into NATO: ‘Not Fair To America, Or The American Taxpayer’ - Daily Caller
Former President Donald Trump issued a statement on Monday through his Save America PAC criticizing NATO and the amount of money the United States provides to the organization.
“So much USA money has been given away to the ‘Club,’ as President Macron of France likes to call it, and to NATO, despite the fact that those countries have taken economic advantage of the United States for many years – until I came along,” Trump said. “Not fair to America, or the American taxpayer!”
NATO countries agreed at the 2014 Wales Summit to increase their financial contributions on NATO defense to 2% of their country’s gross domestic product (GDP).
Trump has long been a proponent of European countries increasing their financial contributions to NATO. When he was in office, Trump was able to get a commitment from some European countries to honor their commitment on NATO spending. (Read more)

- We thank You, Father, that we have seen an example of how an American president should interact with an organization that has had a great purpose in the past, but which has now taken advantage of the United States. We pray that the work that President Trump did in international relations will prevail over perceived weakness and compromise. We place our current office holders in Your hands to guide as You see fit.

7. Federal Judge Nixes Challenge by Hospital Workers, Says Employees Can Be Forced to Get Vaccine or Lose Their Job - CBN News
A federal judge in Texas threw out a lawsuit filed by employees of a Houston hospital system over its requirement that all of its staff be vaccinated against COVID-19.
The Wall Street Journal reported the ruling marks the first time a federal court has ruled on the legality of such an employer mandate because of the pandemic.
The Houston Methodist Hospital system suspended 178 employees without pay last week over their refusal to get vaccinated. Of these, 117 sued seeking to overturn the requirement and lift their suspension, and threatened termination.
In his ruling, Saturday, U.S. District Judge Lynn Hughes of Houston deemed lead plaintiff Jennifer Bridges' contention that the vaccines are "experimental and dangerous" to be false and otherwise irrelevant. He also found that her likening the vaccination requirement to the Nazis' forced medical experimentation on concentration camp captives during the Holocaust to be "reprehensible." (Read more)

- Father God, we are disappointed at the "woke" stance of this large hospital system and stand against this kind of stronghold among American businesses. We also come against the spirit of fear that has permeated decisions made by institutions that infringe upon employees' freedom of choice in certain areas. Thank You, Father, that these employees have sensed a precursor to tyranny that was on the earth in earlier decades.
- "A wise man fears and departs from evil, but a fool rages and is self-confident." (Proverbs 14:16)

8. Former CDC director Redfield explains why he believes COVID-19 emerged from lab, WHO 'compromised' - Fox News
the former director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, explained the reasoning behind his opinion that a lab leak was the most likely explanation for the COVID-19 pandemic’s origins, in a wide-ranging interview with Fox News.
The former CDC director discussed the ongoing debate over the COVID-19 pandemic’s origins during a lengthy interview this past weekend with Dr. Marc Siegel, a professor of medicine at the NYU Langone Medical Center and a Fox News contributor. While Dr. Anthony Fauci and other leading members of the science community have long argued that human contact with an infected animal started the pandemic, calls to investigate the lab leak theory have intensified in recent days.
Redfield argued COVID-19’s efficient human-to-human spread contradicted the behavior of other deadly coronaviruses with similar profiles, such as SARS and MERS, which first reached humans through animal contact but spread at a much slower pace. (Read more)

- Lord, we are so grateful to You when the truth rises to the surface. Thank You also that there is pressure to find the ultimate origin of the virus and that there is pressure on China (and the World Health Organization) to reveal hidden details and motives of their cover-ups. May those who know the facts come forward; give them strength and courage to do the right thing.
- Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or tremble at them, for the LORD your God is the one who goes with you He will not fail you or forsake you. (Deut. 31:6)

9. Arizona Senator: State Lawmakers Prepared to Act on Findings From Election Audit - Epoch Times
The Arizona legislature is ready to take action if the election audit taking place in the state’s largest county uncovers irregularities, a state senator said.“It’ll be our duty to act in whatever way is appropriate,” Arizona Sen. Wendy Rogers, a Republican who has been closely tracking the audit in Maricopa County, told The Epoch Times.
Auditors, led by Florida-based Cyber Ninjas, started reviewing ballots from the 2020 election at Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Phoenix last month, along with machines used in the contest and other election materials. Auditors expect to finish their work by the end of this month. They will then produce a report outlining what they found.
Arizona Senate President Karen Fann, a Republican who authorized the audit, said last month that she thinks some irregularities will be uncovered. (Read more)

- Holy One, we ask for Your light upon the path / highway through this election debacle. We have never been this way before as a nation, so we ask for Godly wisdom for the Arizona legislature as they assess the "irregularities" and determine how to move forward accordingly. This is a very highly charged issue and needs Your divine covering and intervention, so that this challenge against the powers of darkness is victorious because of Your mighty hand at work.
- "The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light." (Romans 13:12)

10. New York, Maryland drop COVID restrictions, Tuesday night fireworks in NYC - Just The News
Maryland GOP Gov. Larry Hogan said Tuesday the state's Maryland COVID-19 state of emergency will be lifted beginning July 1. All Maryland mandates and restrictions will be eliminated including having to wear a mask, unless businesses require it on their property, according to The Washington Post. The state’s virus positivity rate has reached a record of 0.82%, the lowest it has been since the start of the pandemic.
Also on Tuesday, New York Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo dropped all restrictions in the state after 70% of residents received at least one vaccination.
Cuomo said the state can "now return to life as we know it." However, federal guidelines related to schools and mass transit remain. To celebrate, there will be fireworks across the state Tuesday night. They're also meant to be a salute to essential workers, reports, according to ABC-7 in New York. (Read more)

- Lord God, we know that life will never be the same; we cannot go back. Thank You that we can move forward into the future with You, hand-in-hand, marching into the Harvest You have prepared. No matter what befalls us, we can trust in You to love, lead, guide, provide and protect us as we help gather in the inheritance You promised to Your Son. As we go forward, help us to remember what we have learned in the past year and a half; and may we continue to see and seek what is truly important in our lives, Abba.

Child Abuse Or Normal?
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, June 15, 2021
The Hungarian parliament seeks to outlaw promotion of alternative sexual orientations to children. ABC News reports the legislation also bans showing pornographic material and any content portraying or promoting sex reassignment or homosexuality to anyone under 18.The alt sex special interests say that the legislation brings Hungary into the dark ages of anti-gay propaganda that results in discrimination. In other words, Hungary, like most other countries (including the United States), should allow the alt sex community to recruit children into their lifestyle from their various platforms in school systems under the guise of acceptance and normalization of identifying with dozens of alternative sexual orientations.
ABC quoted David Vig, director of Amnesty International Hungary, saying, “These proposals, which have dark echoes of Russia’s anti-gay ‘propaganda law,’ will further stigmatize LGBTI people, exposing them to greater discrimination in what is already a hostile environment.” Vig used the acronym—LGBTI–for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex people. Here in the US, the acronym is LGBTQ, the “Q” standing for questioning—which in of itself is an expansion of the evangelical agenda of this community to young children who may have, and probably do have, questions about their sexuality. In America, there are laws on the books against adults who would children with sexual intentions. Yet, the LGBTQI community is allowed in schools to normalize the alternative sexual lifestyle—in other words, evangelize. Read More

Russian and Ukrainian Christians unite despite war
|
|
Russians and Ukrainians should be enemies, as a war between the two countries drags into its eighth year.
But Denise Godwin of International Media Ministries tells of Russian churches giving money for displaced people in Ukraine. “What I witnessed was Ukrainians and Russians, in a big church in Kiev, worshiping together and coming together and strategizing together of how to reach people in both regions. It was being reported that churches in the region in Russia had taken offerings for 100,000 displaced people in Ukraine.”
These Christians can do this because they serve a power higher than the governments of Russia or Ukraine. Godwin says, “I think, sometimes in modern politics, we get caught up in all of the debates and opinions. But really and truly, when the rubber hits the road, Christianity and what Christ has done for us is actually working.”
Godwin encourages prayer for fellow Christians around the world, including those who could be considered enemies. “Behind the scenes of politics, behind the scenes of news and incidents that we see, there are individual churches. There are believers and non-believers alike who need God’s mercy, God’s grace, and our prayers.” (Read more)

Philippians 2:1-4 speaks loudly to us in these times when the Lord is shaking all that can be shaken. Here are the first four verses of Philippians 2: " Therefore, if there is any consolation in Christ, if any comfort in love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any affection and mercy, fulfill my joy by being like-minded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind. Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. "
That's a tall order ! How do we begin to get there? It has to begin with me and you. Ask the Helper, the Holy Spirit, to join you in your prayer time. Ask Him where pride first surfaced in your life. Ask Him how pride speaks through your conduct today. If at that point you can confess that sin---which to the Lord is the first abomination He mentions in Proverbs 6: 17--- He will forgive you. You can then take the next step, a free will decision to die to that spirit in you and instead choose His Way, His Word, as your direction from this point forward. Read More

Be Still, My Soul
To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE
Words: Katharina VonSchlegel
Music: Jean Sibelius
Scripture: Be still, and know that I am God. Psalm 46:10
Lyrics:
Be still, my soul: the Lord is on thy side.
Bear patiently the cross of grief or pain.
Leave to thy God to order and provide;
In every change, He faithful will remain.
Be still, my soul: thy best, thy heavenly friend
Through thorny ways leads to a joyful end.
Be still, my soul: thy God doth undertake
To guide the future, as He has the past.
Thy hope, thy confidence let nothing shake;
All now mysterious shall be bright at last.
Be still, my soul: the waves and winds still know
His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.
Be still, my soul: when dearest friends depart,
And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.
Be still, my soul: the hour is hastening on
When we shall be forever with the Lord.
When disappointment, grief and fear are gone,
Sorrow forgot, love’s purest joys restored.
Be still, my soul: when change and tears are past
All safe and blessèd we shall meet at last.
Be still, my soul: begin the song of praise
On earth, believing, to Thy Lord on high;
Acknowledge Him in all thy words and ways,
So shall He view thee with a well pleased eye.
Be still, my soul: the sun of life divine
Through passing clouds
Shall but more brightly shine.

Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government.
