IRS Denies Tax-Exempt Status to Christian Non-Profit Saying 'Bible Teachings' Are Affiliated with Republican Beliefs
|
|
The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) denied tax-exempt status to a Texas Christian non-profit last month, arguing it was not eligible for 501(c)(3) status in part because "Bible teachings are typically affiliated with the Republican party and candidates."
Christians Engaged, an organization dedicated to educate and empower Christians to pray for the nation and elected officials, vote, and be civically engaged, was denied the tax exemption in a letter from IRS Exempt Organizations Director Stephen A. Martin.
First Liberty Institute, a religious rights law firm, is representing Christians Engaged and has appealed the IRS's decision.
Christians Engaged incorporated in July 2019 as a Texas nonprofit corporation "formed exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, or scientific purposes." From its religious perspective, the organization provides nonpartisan religious and civic education, focusing on encouraging and educating Christians to be engaged citizens as a part of their religious practice. Christians Engaged applied for tax-exempt status in late 2019.
On its website, the organization states it is educational, Christian, and non-partisan.
"Specifically, you educate Christians on what the Bible says in areas where they can be instrumental including the areas of the sanctity of life, the definition of marriage, biblical justice, freedom of speech, defense, and borders and immigration, U.S. and Israel relations," Martin wrote. "The Bible teachings are typically affiliated with the Republican party and candidates. This disqualifies you from exemption under IRC Section 501(c)(3)." (Read more)

1. Iran says it has 6.5 kg of 60%-enriched uranium, inching closer to weapons-grade - Times of Israel
Iran said Tuesday that it has produced 6.5 kilograms (14.3 pounds) of uranium enriched to 60 percent purity and 108 kilograms of uranium enriched to 20% purity in five months, far ahead of the schedule set by a law passed earlier this year by Tehran.
The move takes the Islamic Republic even closer to the nuclear weapons-grade level of 90% purity.
The development came amid talks between Iran and world powers in Vienna aimed at rebuilding the 2015 nuclear deal that put curbs on Tehran’s nuclear program in exchange for sanctions relief. Iran has been increasingly violating the terms of the deal since the Trump administration withdrew the United States from it in 2018. (Read more)

2. Gaza Arson Balloons Spark Fires in Southern Israel for Second Straight Day - Algemeiner
i24 News – Arson balloons launched from Gaza sparked fires in southern Israel for the second straight day on Wednesday, with a total of four blazes caused by incendiary balloons, according to fire and rescue services for Israel’s southern district.
The fire services reported that all of the fires were located in the Eshkol Regional Council area in thorny fields and that the fires were small and not dangerous.
Gaza-based terrorists continued launching the balloons despite the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) attacking targets in the Gaza Strip with airstrikes early Wednesday in response to Tuesday’s incendiary balloon launches from Gaza that caused a series of fires in southern Israel.
The IDF said it hit several Hamas locations in Khan Younis and Gaza City, with the military warning that it is prepared for all scenarios, including resumed hostilities with Gaza terrorist organizations such as Hamas, which controls Gaza. (Read more)

3. No-confidence vote filed against new government - Jerusalem Post
The first two no-confidence votes against the new government of Prime Minister Naftali Bennett were filed on Wednesday.
The Likud wrote in its no-confidence motion that “the government was formed with lies and tricking the public, and has no mandate from the public.” The motion was filed by Likud faction chairman Miki Zohar and will be presented on Monday by MK Ofir Akunis.
A separate no-confidence motion, filed by Shas and United Torah Judaism, relates to matters of religion and state. (Read more)

4. Egypt, Jordan hold back in congratulating new PM - Israel Hayom
Moroccan King Mohammed VI congratulated Wednesday Prime Minister Naftali Bennett on taking office, becoming the first non-Gulf Arab leader to do so.
In his letter, the monarch wished the new prime minister success and emphasized that the kingdom was "determined to continue its active role and its best efforts to advance a just and lasting peace in the Middle East."
Bennett was also congratulated by Crown Prince of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed Bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Crown Prince of Bahrain Salman bin Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa.
Several countries have so far held back from congratulating Israel's new leader, among them Egypt and Jordan.
A senior official at the Egyptian embassy in Tel Aviv explained to Israel Hayom that the delay did not stem from a deliberate disregard for the political change in the Jewish state. (Read more)

5. IDF soldier wounded, female terrorist killed in attack at Jerusalem checkpoint - World Israel News
A female Palestinian terrorist was shot and killed by Israeli security forces on Wednesday morning after she wounded one soldier during a combination car-ramming and stabbing attack at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Jerusalem.
According to the IDF, the woman tried to run over soldiers stationed at the Hizma checkpoint on Route 60, between Jerusalem and Ma’ale Adumim.
She then exited her vehicle and attempted to stab the soldiers.
“A soldier was lightly wounded in his limbs in a ramming attack next to Hizma,” said emergency response group Rescuers Without Borders in a statement. (Read more)

1. White House Scrambles to Walk Back Joe Biden Nod Indicating He Can Trust Vladimir Putin - Brietbart
Biden briefly appeared with Putin for the press ahead of their meeting in Geneva, Switzerland. During the chaotic press scrum that ensued, NBC News producer Elyse Perlmutter asked the president if he trusted Putin.
Biden looked at her and nodded in the affirmative, according to her account.
Other journalists in the room reported the same thing. But the White House press office scrambled to explain what the president meant by nodding, even before they had a chance to talk to Biden personally.
It was a chaotic scrum with reporters shouting over each other. The president was very clearly not responding to any one question, but nodding in acknowledgment to the press generally,” White House communications director Kate Bedingfield wrote on social media. (Read more)

2. Federal judge blocks Biden's bans on leases for drilling for oil and gas on public lands - Just The News
A federal judge in Louisiana has blocked President Biden's temporary ban on new leases to drill for oil and gas on public lands, setting back his efforts on climate change.
U.S. District Court for the Western District of Louisiana Judge Terry Doughty issued a preliminary injunction Tuesday blocking the administration from enforcing its ban. The judge's order applies nationwide.
"Millions and possibly billions of dollars are at stake," Doughty wrote in a 44-page memorandum accompanying the injunction, according to NBC News. "Local government funding, jobs for Plaintiff State workers, and funds for the restoration of Louisiana’s Coastline are at stake. Plaintiff states have a reliance interest in the proceeds derived from offshore and on land oil and gas lease sales."
In January, Biden's Interior Department paused new leases of land to review if it should allow oil and gas drilling on federal lands to continue. (Read more)

3. Congressman: House should investigate Fauci for possible profit motives related to COVID-19 - Just The News
Alabama Republican Rep. Jerry Carl told Just the News that he wants the House of Representatives to investigate Dr. Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, for possible profit-making motives related to COVID-19.
Carl, a member of the House Armed Services Committee, said he came to the conclusion that such an investigation should take place after reviewing about 700 of Fauci's email messages, which he said were "easy to read" because they were heavily redacted.
"I would like to know if he made any money off of this COVID-19," Carl told "Just the News AM" on Monday. "I think that's a fair question. What most people don't realize are the true bureaucrats in Washington are in your state capitol, on your local government, they control so much of what's going on. And when you're like Fauci and you can step out on the stage at any given day, make a statement and turn the stock market, it's easy to predict that. (Read more)

4. Ducey, lawmakers stop university COVID-19 vaccine mandate in Arizona - Just The News
Gov. Doug Ducey has put a stop to Arizona State University‘s plans to require students to have COVID-19 vaccines to attend campus this fall or face rigorous safeguards
Dr. Joanne Vogel, ASU’s vice president of student services, emailed students outlining their COVID-19 protocols for the fall 2021 semester. While they don’t require students to be vaccinated against COVID-19, those who don’t will be required to follow a rigorous set of safeguards such as daily health checks, twice-weekly COVID-19 tests and required face coverings in all indoor and outdoor spaces on ASU grounds.
“COVID-19 vaccines currently available in the United States and in other countries are highly effective at preventing COVID-19 infection and reducing the spread of the virus,” Vogel wrote. “The vaccine is the greatest tool available to mitigate COVID-19 and its negative health outcomes, including death, and we believe it is imperative for the health and well-being of our community for all to be vaccinated.” (Read more)

5. McCarthy Vows to Remove ‘Anti-American’ Ilhan Omar off Foreign Affairs Committee if GOP Wins House - Brietbart
During a Tuesday appearance on FNC’s “Fox & Friends,” House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) promised that if the GOP wins the House, he would not allow Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) to serve on the Foreign Affairs Committee. McCarthy pointed out that Omar has made “antisemitic” remarks in the past, adding “she’s anti-American now” that she is equating the United States and Israel to terrorist organizations.
After calling for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to remove Omar from Foreign Affairs, McCarthy promised he would take action if the GOP is “fortunate enough to have the majority.”
“ I think Nancy Pelosi should remove Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee,” McCarthy outlined. “This is an individual that has not once but on numerous occasions been antisemitic. Her own entire Congress had to rebuke her in the last one. But she’s not just antisemitic. She’s anti-American now. She’s equating America to Taliban, to Hamas. 6. House GOP leaders demand answers from Biden Education Department about combating CCP influence on campus - Washington Examiner
House Republican leaders demanded that the Biden Education Department say whether it intends to enforce the law related to foreign funding on campus and crackdown on Chinese Communist Party influence at U.S. colleges and campuses.
Rep. Jim Banks, chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, and Virginia Foxx, ranking member on the House Education Committee, sent a letter to Education Secretary Miguel Cardona on Wednesday “to express concern and request information regarding the Department of Education’s administration of Section 117 of the Higher Education Act, which requires higher education institutions to disclose large gifts and contracts from overseas sources to the Department” because “the American public deserves to know that their money is not being compromised by Communist China and other adversarial nations.”
The Education Department declined in May to weigh in on investigations into foreign funding on campuses initiated by the Trump administration when asked by the Washington Examiner. Department officials wouldn’t comment on possible future inquiries after Trump officials increased pressure on China. (Read more)

7. FBI operatives were organizing the attack on the Capitol': Tucker Carlson claims the January 6 insurrection was planned by the government - Daily Mail
Tucker Carlson claimed Tuesday that the Capitol rioters who were named as 'unindicted co-conspirators' in court documents, were actually federal agents, orchestrating the attack. Carlson on Tuesday night referenced a report in Revolver News, which looked into the indictments of the around 400 people charged over the January 6 unrest.
Carlson noted that many of the indictments mentioned 'unidentified co-conspirators.'
'Without fail, the government has thrown the book at most people who were present and in the Capitol on January 6,' he said. 'There was a nationwide dragnet to find them. Many of them are still in solitary confinement tonight.
But strangely, some of the key people participating on January 6th have not been charged.
'Look at the documents, the government calls those people unindicted co-conspirators.
'What does that mean? It means that potentially with every single case they were FBI officers. (Read more)

8. Biden Administration Asks Americans to Report ‘Potentially’ Radicalized Friends and Family - Brietbart
In a conversation with reporters, one senior administration official explained the importance of stopping politically fueled violence before it started. "We will work to improve public awareness of federal resources to address concerning or threatening behavior before violence occurs,” the official said.
The official cited the Department of Homeland Security’s “If you see something say something” campaign to help stop radical Islamic terror as a domestic possibility.
“This involves creating contexts in which those who are family members or friends or co-workers know that there are pathways and avenues to raise concerns and seek help for those who they have perceived to be radicalizing and potentially radicalizing towards violence,” the official said.
Biden began his presidency with a stark warning in his inauguration speech about the “rise in political extremism, white supremacy, domestic terrorism that we must confront and we will defeat.” On June 1, Biden described the threat from “white supremacy” as the “most lethal threat to the homeland today.” The Biden administration said it would also work with large technology companies on “increased information sharing” to help combat radicalization. GOP Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel recently tweeted the Republican Party's support for LGBTQ protections during June "Pride Month:"
Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel's official tweet stated the GOP Party "will continue to grow our big tent by supporting measures that promote fairness and balance protections for LGBTQ Americans and those with deeply held religious beliefs." As if saying "Happy #PrideMonth" was not enough, the GOP committed to support LGBTQ "measures" in the future.

The platform strongly rejects the LGBTQ agenda by affirming U.S. Title IX which protects girls' public-school sports by preventing biological males from competing in sports designated for females only. They are determined to reshape our schools — and our entire society — to fit the mold of an ideology alien to America's history and traditions. 10. Trump will visit border on June 30, says America 'is now one giant sanctuary city' - Just The News
Former President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday that he will visit the nation's southern border with Texas Gov. Greg Abbott on June 30. The announcement comes amid a surge of migrants along the southern border. Trump described the present situation "an unmitigated disaster zone" and pointed out that neither President Biden nor Vice President Harris have gone to visit the border since taking office.
"I have accepted the invitation of Texas Governor Greg Abbott to join him on an official visit to our Nation's decimated Southern Border on Wednesday, June 30, 2021," Trump said. Biden-Putin meeting: Republicans outline 5 things POTUS should be doing to counter Russian president

House conservatives released a new memo in advance of President Biden's Wednesday summit with Vladimir Putin calling out the Democrat's "tough words but weak actions" and offering advice on policies that could actually counter Russian aggression.
In a new memo obtained by Fox News, the Republican Study Committee (RSC) – the largest group of House conservatives – outlined five measures that Biden could enact. His face-to-face meeting with Putin in Geneva comes after crippling Russian-originated cyber ransomware attacks, and Republicans say Biden needs to be doing more.
"In the run-up to the summit, President Biden has attempted to escape criticism through tough talk to cover his lack of action," the RSC memo circulated Tuesday said. "While President Trump spoke softly but carried a big stick, President Biden seems to be defined by the approach of ‘speak loudly, but carry a twig.’ It is a fantasy to expect that Putin would change his behavior without the imposition of significant costs on his regime."

Russian Navy conducts massive drills in Pacific before Biden-Putin meeting

The Russian Navy has been conducting military exercises about 300 to 500 miles west of Hawaii prompting the U.S. on Sunday to scramble three F-22s to respond to long-range bombers, a report said.
CBS News, citing U.S. defense officials, reported on Tuesday that the Russian bombers never entered the Air Defense Identification Zone. The report said Russian officails called the exercise its largest in the Pacific since the Cold War.
The U.S. Pacific Fleet and the Defense Department did not immediately respond to an after-hours email inquiry from Fox News. The exercises come just as President Biden and Russian President Vladimir Putin plan to meet on Wednesday during the highly anticipated summit in Geneva.
The Russian Defense Ministry said the drills involved "up to 20 surface combatants, submarines and support vessels."
TASS, the Russian news agency, reported that the ships from the Primorye Flotilla of All-Arms Forces have been working on "tactical maneuvers" in the waters. The exercises began on June 10, and included the missile cruiser "Varyag," and an anti-submarine ship "Admiral Panteleev," Reuters reported. The report said TU-142MZ bombers were also taking part in the drill.
The Honolulu Star-Advertiser reported that the military appeared to be tight-lipped on the F-22 deployment from Joint Base Pearl Harbor-Hickam, and cited an "irregular air patrol" that had been requested by the Federal Aviation Administration. A KC-135 Stratotanker was also deployed, the report said. (Fox News) Read more.

Virginia parents furious after graduation speaker's 'incendiary' warning on racism and White supremacy
|

After a Fairfax County School Board member delivered a scathing speech at a high school commencement ceremony, Virginia parents spoke out Tuesday, rejecting the message about students entering a world of greed, racism and White supremacy.
Abrar Omeish, the school board's lone Muslim member, delivered the keynote address before a graduation ceremony for Justice High School in Falls Church, Virginia, on June 7. She warned the graduating – mostly minority – high schoolers that they are about to step into a capitalist world filled with racism, White supremacy and "extreme versions of individualism."
"Our world is overwhelmed with need. We struggle with human greed, racism, extreme versions of individualism and capitalism, White supremacy, growing wealth gaps, disease, climate crisis, extreme poverty amid luxury and waste right next door. And the list goes on," Omeish said, pointing out that the school is on land stolen from the Manahoac people, a Native American tribe.

Israel Sea Level Rose 2 m. in Hellenistic Period,
Could Explain Decline

Some 2,100 years ago Israel experienced a drastic rise in its sea level, which caused the loss of important infrastructure and might have contributed to the decline of some cities in the region, a new study by Israeli and international scholars has shown.
The researchers considered a period of some two millennia, starting from the Middle Bronze Age (2,500 BCE) up to the Roman Period until the 3rd century CE.
“We saw that from the Middle Bronze Age to the end of the Iron Age, a span of some 700 years, the sea rose very slowly, maybe of half a meter, but between the Hellenistic period and the Roman period, the sea rose of 2 or 2.5 meters within 200 years, which is a lot,” said Mediterranean Archaeology Prof. Assaf Yasur-Landau, head of the Recanati Institute of Marine Studies at the University of Haifa and a co-author of the paper published in the academic journal PLOS ONE last week. ABU DHABI, UAE -- Making water out of air seems farfetched but the Israeli company Watergen has become a world leader in this groundbreaking technology. Its vision is to provide everyone with clean and safe drinking water and that vision is also helping strengthen ties between the Jewish state and the Arab world.
Abu Dhabi is a modern jewel in the Middle East and capital of the United Arab Emirates. Located on the Persian Gulf, you might think it has plenty of water. But there’s a problem.
“I'm not talking just about the ocean that you see outside. I'm talking about the ground water. It's all very, very salty, and undrinkable,” said Michael Rutman, CO-CEO of Watergen.
Last year, the UAE became the first Arab state in more than 25 years to make peace with Israel, when it signed on to the Abraham Accords. That opened the door for Watergen.
Dr. Michael Mirilashvili is owner & president of Watergen, which makes water out of air. Now that technology is helping make friends out of former enemies.
“The second I heard and saw the Abraham Accords were signed, I dropped everything I was dealing with and went directly to the UAE in order to strengthen the Abraham Accords,” Mirilashvili told CBN News during a recent trip to Abu Dhabi.
“We started here, almost six months ago, and today, our machines are installed all over Abu Dhabi,” Rutman told CBN News.
“The United Arab Emirates is very, very similar to Israel because it's a relatively young country that is located in the middle of the desert,” Rutman said. (Read more)
