TODAY'S TOP STORY
NATO warns of military challenge posed by China

Nato leaders meeting for a summit in Brussels have warned of the military threat posed by China, saying its behaviour is a "systemic challenge".

China, they said, was rapidly expanding its nuclear arsenal, was "opaque" about its military modernisation and was co-operating militarily with Russia NATO chief Jens Stoltenberg warned China was "coming closer" to NATO in military and technological terms.

But he stressed the alliance did not want a new Cold War with China.

Why is NATO focusing on China?

According to the summit's communiqué (concluding statement), China's "stated ambitions and assertive behaviour present systemic challenges to the rules-based international order and to areas relevant to Alliance security".

"We remain concerned with China's frequent lack of transparency and use of disinformation," it says. (BBC) Read more.

- Father, we thank You that the nations are joining in an alliance to hold China accountable for its wicked ways. Thank You, Abba God, for leading the kings of the earth to do Your will in this matter, in Your Name, amen and amen.

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Lapid to take lead over Bennett on foreign ties, peace with Arab states - Jerusalem Post

Foreign Minister and Alternate Prime Minister Yair Lapid is expected to take a leading role in Israel’s international relations, unlike the past 12 years in which the prime minister did so.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett plans to focus on his domestic agenda, at least at first, a source close to the new premier said. Any diplomatic decision or statement Bennett makes will have to be coordinated in advance with Lapid because of the delicate rotation government they formed on Sunday.

Former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu led Israel’s foreign policy throughout his time in office, often keeping key information from the Foreign Ministry. He also served as foreign minister at the same time as prime minister in 2012 and 2015-2019.
In his transition ceremony with former foreign minister Gabi Ashkenazi on Monday, Lapid said the Foreign Ministry would be in charge of normalizing relations between Israel and Arab states, following last year’s Abraham Accords. (Read more)

2. Bennett's first day in office - Israel National News

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett had a busy first day in office Monday.

Bennett toured the branches of the Prime Minister's Office in Jerusalem, met with the workers, and wished everyone continued significant progress in their positions.

The military secretary to the prime minister and the head of the National Security Council also presented Bennett with reviews on security matters.

In the morning, at the end of the traditional photograph of the new government at the President's Residence, Bennett visited the grave of Lt. Col. Emmanuel Moreno, an officer from the elite Sayeret Matkal unit who served alongside Bennett. Moreno was killed during the 2006 Second Lebanon War. (Read more)

3. Israel Ramps Up Iron Dome Defenses as Hamas Readies Incendiary Balloon Unit - Algemeiner

The Hamas terrorist group, which rules the Gaza Strip, stepped up its threats against Israel as tomorrow’s Flag March in Jerusalem approaches, while the White House conveyed its concerns about a possible outbreak of violence to the Israeli government.

The march, which celebrates Israel’s reunification of the city in 1967, passes through various Muslim areas of the city, and is seen as a major flashpoint for the conflict.

There have been calls in recent weeks to cancel the march, and its route has already been changed once in hopes of damping down tensions.

N12 reported Monday that Hamas’ incendiary balloon unit, which launches arson attacks on Israel’s south, said that it will return to activity, and Hamas is calling for a march on Jerusalem to “protect” the Al Aqsa mosque. (Read more)

4. IDF, Israel Police Thwart Arms Smugglers from Jordan - Jewish Press

IDF troops and the Israeli Police thwarted a weapon smuggling attempt on Monday evening along the Jordanian border in the Arava area.

During the incident, IDF soldiers confiscated a number of weapons and apprehended a number of suspects, according to the IDF.

“The troops, who were operating to thwart the smuggling attempt, spotted a suspect attempting to cross into Jordan from Israeli territory and fired towards him,” the IDF said in a statement.

An IDF reservist was moderately injured during the exchange, along with one of the suspects. (Read more)

5. Israeli firefighters gain control of Jerusalem area blaze, investigation into cause ongoing - World Israel News

An area of forest the size of New York’s Central Park in the hills surrounding Jerusalem was destroyed by fire in recent days as hundreds of firefighters worked alongside water-bombing aircraft and police to extinguish the blaze.

More than 2,650 dunams (about 650 acres) of woodland were destroyed by the fire with 267,000 liters of fire retardant used.

Multiple apparatuses were utilized during the operation, including a Mercedes-Benz Unimog 20 fire truck equipped for fighting fires in the heavily forested central region, donated through Jewish National Fund-USA by national board member Edward Blank.

“I feel a deep sense of gratitude for Israel’s brave firefighting men and women who valiantly battled the fires and brought them under control,” said Blank. “The fact that there was no loss of life is a testament to their skills, and it was important that they had the right equipment to achieve this outcome.” (Read more)

1. AOC agrees with calls for Breyer to step down from Supreme Court - Fox

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is "inclined to say yes" to calls by progressive organizations and at least one fellow Democrat in Congress for 82-year-old Supreme Court Justice Stephen Breyer to retire at the end of the current term of the high court.

Ocasio-Cortez, the two-term representative from New York who’s arguably the most high profile progressive in Congress and the most well-known of the group of diverse of lawmakers on the left known as "the Squad," was asked Sunday in an interview on CNN’s "State of the Union" whether Breyer should retire.

"You know, I – it's something that I’d think about but I, I would probably lean towards yes. But yes, you're asking me this question so I've just, I would give more thought to it, but, but I'm inclined to say yes," Ocasio-Cortez answered.

Some progressive are urging Breyer to step down now – while the Democrats control both the White House and the Senate, which confirms Supreme Court justices – so he can be succeed by another younger but equally progressive-minded justice. (Read more)

- Father, we pray that Justice Breyer would make his own mind about retirement and not succumb to the pressures of the left. Let Your will and only Your will be done regarding the Supreme Court.

2. Local Alabama ABC anchor who broke Clinton tarmac story dead at 45 - Fox

A "passionate" Alabama TV anchor and former college football player who broke the infamous Bill Clinton tarmac meeting with then-Attorney General Lorreta Lynch died Saturday, according to reports and his employer.

Christopher Sign, 45, was found dead Saturday morning by Hoover police in his Scout Terrace home, according to Al.com. The death is being investigated as a suicide, Hoover Lt. Keith Czeskleba said, according to the outlet.

"Chris was a tremendous leader in our newsroom," wrote ABC 33/40 on Saturday in tribute. "He worked with our reporting staff on a daily basis, but also worked behind the scenes with the I-Team and with news managers on coverage of major events. You were very likely to get an email from him with a story idea in the middle of the night. He was passionate about journalism and showed it each and every day as he pushed himself and his colleagues to be the best."  (Read more)

Father, we pray that any nefarious actions by any of the Clintons or their followers be revealed to all. Let everything hidden be revealed. We pray for the family and coworkers of this anchor and ask that you draw them to Your heart.

3. Biden congratulates Israel’s incoming PM Naftali Bennett, vows support for 'Israelis, Palestinians' –Fox

President Joe Biden on Sunday congratulated Israel’s incoming Prime Minister Naftali Bennett after Israel’s parliament voted to approve a new government, effectively ending Benjamin Netanyahu’s historic 12 years in office.

The "United States remains unwavering in its support for Israel’s security," Biden said in a statement addressed to Bennett and other members of his incoming cabinet. "My administration is fully committed to working with the new Israeli government to advance security, stability, and peace for Israelis, Palestinians, and people throughout the broader region."

Bennett tweeted his thanks to President Biden, writing: "I look forward to working with you to strengthen the ties between our two nations." In a similarly worded statement, Secretary of State Anthony J. Blinken said the United States remains "unwavering in our commitment to Israel’s security." (Read more)

- Lord, actions speak louder than words, and the actions of this administration have not been solid toward Israel.  Let nothing this administration does be used to damage the nation of Israel or Your people around the world.

- “I the Lord search the heart and test the mind, to give every man according to his ways, according to the fruit of his deeds.” (Jeremiah 17:10)

4. Omar retweets video by anti-Israel group investigated by FBI for possible terrorism ties- Fox News

"Squad" member Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., retweeted a video produced by an anti-Israel organization previously investigated by the FBI for possible terrorist ties.
On Tuesday, one day after she posted a now-infamous tweet likening the U.S. and Israel to terror groups Hamas and the Taliban, Omar retweeted a post including a video produced by the International Solidarity Movement (ISM). The video shared by Omar depicted a Palestinian child being carried off by Israeli police forces as an explosion is heard in the background.

In 2010, ISM was deemed by the Anti-defamation League (ADL) as one of the top 10 anti-Israel organizations in the country. The FBI has also investigated ISM for possible links to terrorists, but FBI documents reported in 2020 by the Intercept did not detail any charges levied.

ISM was also criticized by the ADL in 2014 for the group's response to the kidnapping and murder of three Israeli teens, with ISM saying the teens were "missing" and dismissing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s attribution of the murders to internationally recognized terrorist organization Hamas. While ISM promotes itself as "non-violent," its founders have endorsed Palestinians’ right to "armed struggle" in the past. 5. Biden redirecting billions approved for wall to environmental and safety concerns at border --Washington Examiner

The remainder of billions of dollars that Congress appropriated for border wall construction during the Trump administration will instead be spent on safety and environmental concerns left from the projects, the Biden administration announced Friday afternoon.

President Joe Biden suspended wall construction after taking office in late January and ordered his administration to review all $15 billion in wall spending, of which $4 billion came from Congress, and $10.5 billion was diverted by former President Donald Trump from the Defense Department. Of the $10.5 billion in money redirected from the Pentagon, just $2 billion was unspent.

The Department of Homeland Security is legally obligated to spend the remainder of the funds appropriated by Congress on border-related construction. For example, the remainder will be spent to install a levee system in 13.4 miles of low-lying borderland in Hidalgo County, Texas. The need for a levee system arose after border wall construction started and then stopped. (Read more)

- Father, we ask that You protect our borders. Our leadership will not help us, so we pray for Your help.

6. Pelosi: 'No intention' of abandoning Democrats' infrastructure goals- The Hill

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Sunday said she has “no intention” of abandoning Democrats’ infrastructure goals, as negotiations continue with Republicans for a bipartisan package. A group of Democratic and Republican senators on Thursday announced an agreement on a “compromise framework” to invest $1.2 trillion in infrastructure over the next eight years.

The package includes more funding than the Republican offers that were unveiled last month, but is still less than what the White House previously put forward.

When asked by host Dana Bash on CNN’s “State of the Union” if she could agree to the package as long as there is a promise for “a second bite at the apple,” Pelosi said “as Congress works its will, we will just see what the possibilities are.”

“I have heard him [Biden] say with Republicans in the room, let's figure out what we can agree on, on infrastructure. Let's see if we can come to a reasonable amount of money to get that work done, but I have no intention of abandoning the rest of my vision about the better -- building back better,” Pelosi said. (Read more)

- Lord, this woman in leadership refuses to release her ‘vision’ even for the good of the nation. We pray for righteous leaders to replace those who have forgotten who they represent.  Let a wave of repentance flow over our land, and let Your church complete its mission on earth!

- “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

7. Kamala Harris at D.C. Pride Parade: Transgender Community Must Be ‘Protected’ = Breitbart

Vice President Kamala Harris and her husband, second gentleman Doug Emhoff, made an appearance Saturday at the Pride parade in downtown Washington, D.C.

During her appearance, Harris spoke to those in attendance and called for the Senate to pass the Equality Act, legislation the U.S. House of Representatives passed in February which would eliminate the legal definition of biological sex, cater to gender ideology, and designate protection for the unborn as “pregnancy” discrimination

“We need to pass the Equality Act,” Harris said. “We need to make sure that our transgender community and our youth are all protected. We need still protections around employment and housing.”

“There is so much more work to do and I know we are committed and we understand the importance of this movement and our roles of leadership in this ongoing movement,” Harris added. “So happy Pride, everyone.” (Read more)

- Father when our leadership condones and actively embraces something Your Word calls a sin, we are in serious trouble. We pray for Your mercy, forgiveness and repentance over all of the nation. We pray that the ‘Equality Act” will fail resoundingly.

Republican Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan and House Judiciary Committee Republicans reintroduced legislation Friday that would amend Section 230’s immunity from liability for internet content providers.

The Daily Caller first obtained the legislation, titled the Protect Speech Act, which was put together by Reps Jordan, McClintock, Bishop, Tiffany, Spartz, Steube, Johnson, Fitzgerald, Issa, and Fischbach. The bill would amend Section 230, which is the portion of the law that gives internet companies immunity from lawsuits over content that users post to their sites. (Read more)

9. Kevin McCarthy Sends Letter To Members Outlining America’s Declining Condition Under Biden, Democrats – Daily Wire

House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) unloaded on Democrat President Joe Biden in a letter sent to Republican lawmakers on Sunday, warning that the Democrats’ policies were doing significant harm to the country.

McCarthy’s letter started off by noting that the Trump administration’s Operation Warp Speed was paying off big time as communities across the country come back to life following the coronavirus pandemic, which killed hundreds of thousands of Americans and devastated the economies of many states.

However, beneath the surface, the policies of the Biden administration and of Democrats in general are causing a variety of problems, McCarthy argues. (Read more)

- Lord, we ask that all Republicans heed Rep McCarthy’s letter and find a way to do something to stop the insidious creeping of evil in our nation.

 10. Half of all COVID unemployment relief was stolen - and most of of the $400 billion in illegally-claimed handouts were funneled to Russia, China and Nigeria, experts claim – Daily Mail

Up to $400 billion in COVID unemployment relief was stolen - and more than half that cash was funneled to criminals in Russia, China and Nigeria, it was claimed. The United States lost as much as 50% of all unemployment relief, as much as $400 billion, through fraudulent claims, Blake Hall told Axios. Hall is the CEO of ID.me CEO, a company that provides fraud prevention services.

Some experts are considering the theft a matter of national security with cash ending up in the hands of criminal groups based in RussiaChina and Nigeria. More than 70% of the $400 billion feared to have been stolen was pilfered by state-backed foreign criminal groups, Haywood Talcove told Axios. 'These groups are definitely backed by the state,' said Talcove, the CEO of LexisNexis Risk Solutions. U.S. street gangs reportedly stole much of the rest of the money. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that this money be recovered. Let the thieves steal no more, and let Your Spirit convict them of sin. We once again pray for a wave of repentance across the nation, to bring those who will into Your Kingdom!

- “Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his own hands, so that he may have something to share with anyone in need.” (Ephesians 4:28)
The Daily Jot

Welcome Back Carter

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, June 14, 2021

The parallels between President Jimmy Carter and Joe Biden are becoming more and more evident. Remember Carter? He oversaw a doubling of gasoline prices, inflation went from 5% to 14%, interest rates climbed from a little over 7% to 16%, and unemployment in some parts of the country was in double-digits. His foreign policy was as much as a disaster. The Democrat president actually tried to use food as a weapon by embargoing grain sales to the Soviet Union, decimating American farmers, and he promoted Islamic terrorists by trying to normalize relations with the terrorist Palestinian Liberation Organization and helping to foment the Iranian revolution that installed the terrorists Ayatollahs.

While the Biden Administration’s economic and foreign policies have not reached their maturity, it doesn’t take much extrapolating to predict a repeat of the Carter years. Already, burgeoning government spending programs in the trillions are on the precipice of causing the same impacts that we had on the economy in the 1970s. For example, Biden’s economic policies already have caused an erosion of your purchasing power. The Bureau of Labor Statistics most recent report indicated the real earnings of American workers fell for the fifth consecutive month in May. The culprit: Inflation. The mere threat of unbridled government spending, increasing the deficit, and expanding government has accelerated this issue. Read More

Pompeo says Trump admin was ‘very close’ to pinpointing source of COVID-19

Former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said Sunday that he believes the coronavirus pandemic originated with a leak out of a lab in Wuhan, China, and that under the Trump administration the U.S. came close to uncovering the details of how it began.

During an interview on "Fox News Sunday," Pompeo took issue with a question about the Trump administration failing to get enough information from China about the origins of COVID-19.

"We have a really good idea what happened here," Pompeo said. "There is an enormous amount of evidence that there was a leak from the Wuhan Institute of Virology. There is a pile of evidence a hundred feet high, I have high confidence that that’s the case. We pressed the Chinese Communist Party really hard – not just the State Department, but our CDC and others too." (Fox News) Read more.

U.S. Catholic Bishops to Discuss if Biden Should Be Denied Communion over Pro-Abortion, Pro-LGBTQ Stances

This week, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops will convene to discuss whether or not President Joe Biden will be allowed to receive Communion while endorsing abortion and LGBTQ rights.

The bishops, who will meet virtually from Wednesday to Friday for their annual meeting, will determine whether to ask the Committee on Doctrine to draft a teaching document on the topic of Communion, Reuters reports.

If the document is commissioned, it can be a strong symbolic rebuke of individuals with views contrary to Catholic teaching. The bishops would then proceed to review an amendable draft in their fall meeting.

In 2004, the conference issued a statement that said individual bishops could determine whether to deny Communion to pro-choice Catholic politicians.

According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, direct abortion or willful is "gravely contrary to the moral law," and marriage should be between a man and a woman, not members of the same sex.

Biden, a professing Catholic, has caused concern among church leaders because of his support for abortion and same-sex marriage.(Christian Headlines) Read more.

Massachusetts lobster diver survives being swallowed by whale: 'I was completely inside'

A commercial lobster diver says he was swallowed whole by a whale off the Massachusetts coast Friday but made it out alive with only minor injuries following the life and death encounter.

Michael Packard, 56, of Wellfleet, was released hours later from a Cape Cod hospital following his scary encounter with a humpback whale. He told WBZ-TV he was 45 feet deep in the waters off Provincetown when the attack occurred. He initially thought the whale was a shark but realized he was wrong when he didn't feel any teeth or pain.

"All of a sudden, I felt this huge shove and the next thing I knew it was completely black," Packard recalled Friday afternoon, according to the Cape Cod Times. "I could sense I was moving, and I could feel the whale squeezing with the muscles in his mouth."

"I was completely inside (the whale); it was completely black," he added. "I thought to myself, ‘there’s no way I’m getting out of here. I’m done, I’m dead. All I could think of was my boys, they’re 12 and 15 years old."

Packard said he thinks he was in the whale's mouth for about 30 seconds. He was able to breathe because he still had his breathing apparatus.

In an effort to save himself, Packard said he began shaking the whale's head before the animal surfaced and ejected him. In a Facebook post, he said the whale "spit me out" and that he escaped with bruises and no broken bones. (Fox News) Read more.
- Lord, we guess this incident puts to rest the constant questioning of Your Word with regard to Jonah.

- “Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, saying, “I called out to the Lord, out of my distress, and he answered me; out of the belly of Sheol I cried, and you heard my voice. For you cast me into the deep, into the heart of the seas, and the flood surrounded me; all your waves and your billows passed over me. Then I said, ‘I am driven away from your sight; yet I shall again look upon your holy temple.’ The waters closed in over me to take my life; the deep surrounded me; weeds were wrapped about my head ...” (Jonah 2:1-10)

'Rare, dangerous and deadly' heat wave
tightens grip on western US
The magnitude of the heat across the western United States through the coming week will be one for the record books, according to forecasters. And it's not just how hot it will get that will set this particular heat wave apart from others the region has frequently endured in the past -- it's how long it will last.

The hot pattern could set dozens of new daily record highs through the middle of June, in addition to potentially setting new all-time high marks for the month as a whole in some locations.

The intense heat has prompted the National Weather Service (NWS) to issue excessive heat watches and warnings throughout California, southern Nevada, western and southern Arizona and Utah. Many of these alerts last through Friday, June 18. Read More

Native American Tribe in Maine Gets Back Sacred Island Taken 160 Years Ago
The Passamaquoddy Tribe reacquired 140 acres of their ancestral territory, thanks to help from The Nature Conservancy which granted them funds to purchase Pine Island, known to them as Kuwesuwi Monihq.

The largest island on Big Lake, Maine, the place has deep historical and cultural significance to the Passamaquoddy community. The small tribe of 3,700 Native Americans had lived there for at least 10,000 years.

“The Tribe felt this land loss was an injustice,” explains Indian Township’s Chief William Nicholas. Today with the island’s return, he continues, “There is no doubt that the Ancestors are jumping all over the place over there.”

“The Passamaquoddy People have dwelled on and cared for Kuwesuwi Monihq for countless generations,” said Corey Hinton, Esq., Passamaquoddy Citizen and Lead Attorney.

“The return of the island to the Tribe will allow us to return home and to resume our stewardship of this special place.” (GoodNewsNetwork) Read more.

Thoughts for Repentance
Sunday, July 4, 2021 will amount to a grassroots National Day of Repentance. Pastors are being encouraged to teach, to preach, to model repentance during church services that day. And, following 2 Chronicles 7:14, they are being encouraged to allow time for all participants to spend private time with the Lord during the service, to confess sins, and to turn from our wicked ways: to repent.

It has to start with you and me.

July 4 is also the beginning of a powerful project during the month of July to reach churches throughout the USA: Pray America: PRAY---the humbling of a nation

We would all agree that America is in a desperate need of spiritual awakening that only comes by "holy desperation" of prayer and obedience. We can sense our FATHER inviting us to seek Him for His deliverance and destiny of our nation. Read More

ScriptureI am a rose of Sharon, a lily of the valleys. Song of Solomon 2:1

Lyrics:
I have found a friend in Jesus,
He’s everything to me,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul;
The Lily of the Valley, in Him alone I see
All I need to cleanse and make me fully whole.
In sorrow He’s my comfort,
In trouble He’s my stay;
He tells me every care on Him to roll.

Refrain
He’s the Lily of the Valley,
The Bright and Morning Star,
He’s the fairest of ten thousand to my soul.

He all my grief has taken,
And all my sorrows borne;
In temptation He’s my strong and mighty tower;
I have all for Him forsaken, and all my idols torn
From my heart and now He keeps me by His power.
Though all the world forsake me,
And Satan tempt me sore,
Through Jesus I shall safely reach the goal.

Refrain

He will never, never leave me,
Nor yet forsake me here,
While I live by faith and do His blessèd will;
A wall of fire about me, I’ve nothing now to fear,
From His manna He my hungry soul shall fill.
Then sweeping up to glory
To see His blessèd face,
Where the rivers of delight shall ever roll.

Refrain

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God."
