"Standing United Together . . . Under the Cross of Christ"
TODAY'S TOP STORY
Leftist Protestors Interrupt GOP Lawmakers Inquiring Into Treatment of Jan. 6 Prisoners

A small cadre of Republican lawmakers gathered outside the Department of Justice on Tuesday afternoon to air concerns about the treatment of prisoners arrested for allegedly participating in the Jan. 6 Capitol Hill riots. “We weren’t even let in the lobby,” Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) said, standing at the DOJ’s doorstep.

They weren’t left alone outside of the lobby, either. After about 15 minutes, a group of what appeared to be leftist protestors swarmed Greene’s podium and the surrounding area. As Greene was speaking, protestors appeared to be circling behind her and the other Republicans—much to the concern of the staffers and security. “We have to wrap it up,” a man near Greene could be heard saying, before more urgently repeating, “We have to go. We need to break.” “The left is interrupting the press conference,” the man then announced to the crowd.

Seconds later, the group of protestors walked through the podium area as the Republican lawmakers and others scattered.

Despite the interruption, the Republicans did have about 15 minutes to explain why they were at the DOJ: to demand answers about how the Jan. 6 prisoners have been treated. According to numerous reports, Jan. 6 inmates have been beaten, held in solitary confinement, and denied access to evidence about their own cases.

The Republican lawmakers said that they have attempted to investigate these reports, but have been stonewalled by the DOJ, as well as the Washington DC Department of Corrections and Capitol Police. A joint letter from Reps Greene, Matt Gaetz (R-Fla.), Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) and Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) lists six unanswered inquiries Republicans have sent to federal authorities.

“Are we housing political prisoners?” Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) said at Tuesday’s press conference. “We need to know the answers.” A former defense attorney and Texas district judge, Gohmert said he’s spent his career fighting for due process for all defendants, including those on death row. During his time as judge, Gohmert said he would make unannounced visits to jails and prisons to make sure the conditions weren’t abusive. “No matter whom you are in this country, you have the right to a fair trial and the right to see the evidence against you, including all potentially exculpatory or exonerating evidence. A plea agreement should not even be offered until these requirements are met,” Gohmert said. “These are basic, fundamental requirements of our law that are ingrained in the justice system of these United States. Disregarding these procedures is a violation of any American citizen’s civil rights.”

The lawmakers also have unanswered questions about the security failures of Jan. 6. Acting Capitol Police Chief Pittman has testified that her office was notified in advance that “armed extremists” were targeting the rally, but House Speaker Nancy Pelosi did not call for the National Guard or other reinforcements. Nor were the Republican lawmakers notified of the threat. “When the Capitol Police requested to Nancy Pelosi on Jan. 6, asking her office for the National Guard, why wasn’t that request [granted]?” Greene said on Tuesday. “Why wasn’t the National Guard brought in?” (Read more)

1.  Knesset Passes Law Making Sure Bennett Hands Keys Over to Lapid- Jewish Press

Following a marathon debate of more than 15 hours, and after all the reservations had been rejected, the Knesset Plenum on Tuesday evening gave its final approval to a proposed amendment to Basic Law: The Government (Amendment No. 10).

The bill, which passed its third and final reading by a vote of 61-2, states that the parity voting mechanism that applies to the Government plenum in a power-sharing government will also apply to the ministerial committees. It further determines that mechanisms will be added to the power-sharing government arrangement to increase its stability, according to which, if a law for dissolving the Knesset is passed in the first half of the government’s term, and at least two MKs affiliated with the sitting Prime Minister supported the law in its third reading, or if the Knesset was dissolved due to the failure to pass the budget law—the Alternate Prime Minister will assume the post of Prime Minister, and the Prime Minister will serve as the Alternate Prime Minister.

In addition, under the bill, an arrangement was established applying to all governments, according to which the Prime Minister will be entitled to appoint two deputy ministers in the Prime Minister’s Office, instead of one deputy minister as is the case today. (Read more)

2. Gantz concludes trip to France -Israel National

Defense Minister, Benny Gantz completed a 10-hour trip to France during which he met with Minister of the Armed Forces, Florence Parly, Head of the DGSE, Bernard Emié and leaders of the French Jewish community.

Minister Gantz spoke about the strategic defense relations between the two countries, the need to contend with Iran’s nuclear aspirations and the risk that Iran may spark a regional arms race. He emphasized that Iran is a global issue, a regional issue and a threat to the State of Israel. He further emphasized that Israel will take all the necessary measures to defend itself. Minister Gantz also discussed the crisis in Lebanon, the need for initiatives to strengthen the Palestinian Authority and ways to stabilize the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Minister Gantz expressed Israel’s concern with the delivery of weapons to Lebanon. At the same time, he emphasized that Israel is prepared to provide Lebanon with humanitarian aid or to assist countries seeking to provide Lebanon with humanitarian aid, and noted that this is conditioned on the prevention of further regional destabilization.

Minister Gantz addressed the topic of NSO and stated that Israel is taking the allegations seriously. He noted that the State of Israel approves the export of cyber products exclusively to governmental entities, for lawful use and only for the purpose of preventing and investigating crime and counter terrorism. He also informed Minister Parly that officials visited NSO’s office today and that Israel is investigating the allegations thoroughly. (Read more)

3. Bennett government votes down Judea and Samaria sovereignty bill - Israel National News

The Knesset voted Wednesday afternoon to reject a bill which would apply Israeli sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria. The bill was introduced by Likud MK Mikki Zohar, along with cosponsor MK Shlomo Karhi (Likud).

In the preliminary vote in the Knesset plenum, the bill was rejected, with 50 MKs voting in favor and 64 against. The Bennett government voted against the bill, ensuring its failure in the plenum.

Zohar excoriated the government for voting down the bill, calling the coalition an “evil, left-wing” government, and lambasted it as “opportunistic”. (Read more)

4. Israeli and Palestinian Government Ministers Meet for First Time in Years - Algemeiner

Ministers from the governments of Israel and the Palestinian Authority met Wednesday for the first time in years, Walla reported.

Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz and Minister of Environmental Protection Tamar Zandberg met with their Palestinian counterparts in Jerusalem, at the initiative of the Minister of Regional Cooperation Issawi Frej, who is seeking to encourage a renewal of ties with the PA after years of estrangement.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s office confirmed that he was aware and approved of the meeting.

Throughout the tenure of former prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu, contacts between Israel and the PA steadily deteriorated, and for the past 18 months the only contacts have been through security officials and former president Reuven Rivlin.

The last time Netanyahu and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas spoke was in 2017. (Read more)

5. ‘Meretz meetings with PA officials don’t mean peace talks’ - Jerusalem Post

This coalition does not have the political means to hold peace talks, so meetings and phone calls between Israeli and Palestinian officials should not be viewed as such, a source close to Prime Minister Naftali Bennett warned on Wednesday.
Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz and Environmental Protection Minister Tamar Zandberg, both from Meretz, met with their counterparts in Ramallah earlier Wednesday.

President Isaac Herzog, Defense Minister Benny Gantz and Public Security Minister Omer Bar Lev spoke separately with Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in the past month. Prior to that, Abbas had not spoken with any Israeli ministers since 2017.

The source close to Bennett cautioned against seeing the meetings and phone calls as a move toward a peace process with the Palestinians in a coalition that is deeply divided on the issue of settlements and a two-state or other solution to the conflict. (Read more)

1. National Police Association slams Jan. 6 probe as ‘dog and pony show,' calls for investigation of Floyd riots - Fox News

The National Police Association on Wednesday slammed Congress’ investigation of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot as a politically motivated "dog and pony show" that has no intention of uncovering the truth of what really happened that day.

In an interview with Fox News on Wednesday, association spokeswoman Betsy Brantner Smith, a retired police sergeant who describes herself as a conservative, said Congress should hear from the thousands of police officers who were injured during the George Floyd riots last year.

"People need to see that police officers go through horrible things, and Jan. 6 was a horrible thing for some of those officers," she said. "But, quite frankly, I find this whole Jan. 6 Commission, frankly, a dog and pony show. It doesn’t tell the whole story."

"Myself, like millions of Americans, sat there watching the testimony thinking, ‘Wait, where are the police officers who appeared – appeared – to let some of the protesters in?" she asked. "Where is the police officer who shot Ashli Babbitt? In fact, why aren’t we talking about Ashli Babbitt? I mean there’s so much more here."

Brantner Smith’s comments came the day after four law enforcement officers who responded to the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol gave testimony to a House select committee about their experience. Brantner Smith said those officers have been "politicized by Congress," and that while their stories are important, the American public also deserves to hear the stories of the "more than 2,000" men and women in law enforcement who were injured during last year’s violent protests. She cited a poll last week by the NPA and Rasmussen Reports that found 66% of likely U.S. voters think Congress should investigate the riots spurred by Floyd’s murder last May. - Father God, during this week of the Jan. 6th Committee hearings on Capitol Hill, we thank You for the National Police Association and their own stand on this issue. We praise You for a voice of truth coming forth in a sea of confusion --and especially a voice of truth from law enforcement personnel.

We ask that You keep every member of the National Police Association safe, under the shelter of Your wing, now and in the days ahead. In Jesus' name we pray, amen.

- Psalm 91

2. RASHIDA TALIB CALLS FOR IRS TO TARGET PRO-ISRAEL GROUPS - Israel 365

Congressman Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) sent a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury, Janet Yellen, urging her to review the status granted to “organizations that fund the expansion of Israeli settlements.”

Tlaib called for the Treasury Department to remove the 501c3 status of any organization that supports the right of Jews to live in Judea and Samaria. The letter was signed by Congressmen Cori Bush, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Andre Carson, Mark Pocan, Betty McCollum, and Ayanna Pressley.

It should be noted that a case brought in 2017  seeking to force the IRS and other Treasury departments to investigate not for profits backing Israeli settlements was dismissed for lack of standing and on the grounds of redressability. (Read more)

- Lord God this has been done before and we are seeing it replay before our very eyes. We just ask for your supernatural protection for alll Israeli groups, supporters of Israel, and your Christian people. Give us downloads from heaven and wisdom on how to handle tyrannical leaders and outmaneuver the enemies' plans. In Jesus name amen.

- "But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one." (2Thessalonians 3:3)

3. Judge rejects churches’ challenge to Virginia’s LGBT antidiscrimination law - The Christian Post

A judge has ruled against a group of churches, schools and a pro-life pregnancy center challenging a Virginia law that adds sexual orientation and gender identity to state antidiscrimination law.

Judge James E. Plowman Jr. issued a ruling from the bench last week in favor of the Virginia Values Act, which was passed by the Democrat-controlled state government in 2020.

Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring released a statement last Friday expressing support for the ruling, which will be entered as an order within the next few weeks.
“Our landmark civil rights protections will remain in place, and Virginia will remain a place that is open and welcoming to all, no matter what you look like, where you come from, how you worship, or who you love,” stated Herring. (Read more)

- Lord, You have called us to follow your son, Jesus, regardless of the cost. May Your Holy Spirit give us courage and wisdom to be faithful disciples and of the truth. Amen.

- “Blessed are those who have been persecuted for the sake of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." (Matthew 5:10)

4. CDC director says European-style health passes 'may very well be a path forward' in US - Washington Examiner

European-style health passes for admission to public venues "may very well be a path forward" in the United States, said Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Rochelle Walensky.

France passed a law Monday requiring health passes to enter restaurants, bars, and other public venues. To receive a health pass, people must prove that they are fully vaccinated, recently tested negative for the virus, or recently recovered from the virus.

They're issuing health passes there [in Europe], right, where you can go to a disco, or a disco-tech as they like to call it there, if you have a health pass," a host told Walensky during a Wednesday morning interview. "Is that something that the CDC would ever lean in to, or perhaps advise here?" (Read more)

- Lord God a year and a half ago we were all told that lockdowns, masks, and all health precautions were to just slow the curve of the virus and then that would be the end of it. But we now see what it looks like when too much power is given to any government or any person in leadership. They are not our source. We repent Lord for going along with this madness in the beginning and we ask for your discernment going forward. In Jesus name.

- “Yet for us there is [only] one God, the Father, Who is the Source of all things.” (1 Corinthians 8:6)

5. DOJ issues warnings to states on voting laws and audits - The Hill

The Department of Justice took aim Wednesday at post-election audits and a flurry of voting laws passed after the 2020 elections, warning states some of their actions may run afoul of the law. The two new guidances released by the department follow a commitment from Attorney General Merrick Garland in June to offer states a refresher on legal obligations as DOJ ramps up its enforcement of voting rights statutes.

The guidance on post-election audits is a clear shot at an effort underway in Arizona, where the state hired an outside firm with no election experience to review its ballots, prompting concern that ballots were being improperly shared with and handled by the company.

“The department is concerned that some jurisdictions conducting them may be using, or proposing to use, procedures that risk violating the Civil Rights Act,” DOJ wrote in the guidance, noting the election officials have record retention requirements. (Read more)

- Lord God, we find it ironic how the justice department is afraid of these states “breaking laws“ when they didn’t care that states had to break laws to sign new election laws that gave us the mess in the 2020 election in the first place. We ask Lord that accountability and responsibility be had on the parties and individuals who led this election fraud corruption in the name of Jesus amen.

“Take no part in the unfruitful works of darkness, but instead expose them.” (Ephesians 5:11)

6. CDC guidance fallout: House, White House bring back mask mandates - Fox News

Capitol Attending Physician Brian Monahan said late Tuesday that the House of Representatives is reinstating its mask mandate – and therefore the threat of fines to members who don't comply – following updated guidance from the Centers from Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on the delta variant of the coronavirus.

The White House also appears to be going back to mandated masks. A White House press representative was seen Tuesday swapping a sign saying people are required to wear masks if unvaccinated with another saying masks are required regardless of vaccination status.

The CDC said Tuesday that it is recommending people who are vaccinated and in areas with high COVID-19 spread wear masks indoors. The announcement was foreshadowed for days by top officials and demanded for weeks by some activists. The new recommendation is likely to prompt a raft of new mask mandates around the country and has already done so in the U.S. Capitol. (Read more)

- Lord God, we say no to the second wave “variant” of fear! We say no to a second wave of lockdowns and further government control! We as the body of Christ will not be pushed around this time. We will stand our ground and use our authority in the name of Jesus Christ against all evil plans of the enemy. Amen.

- “ . . . say to those with fearful hearts, “Be strong, do not fear; your God will come, he will come with vengeance; with divine retribution he will come to save you.” (Isaiah 35:4)

7.  Scoop: 50,000 migrants released; few report to ICE - Axios

About 50,000 migrants who crossed the southern border illegally have now been released in the United States without a court date. Although they are told to report to an Immigration and Customs Enforcement office instead, just 13% have shown up so far, Axios has learned.

The sizable numbers are a sign of just how overwhelmed some sectors of the U.S.-Mexico border continue to be: A single stretch covering the Rio Grande Valley had 20,000 apprehensions in a week. The figures also show the shortcomings of recent emergency decisions to release migrants.

It's unprecedented for agents to release migrants without an official notice to appear in court. Where it has occurred recently, migrants have instead been given a list of addresses and contacts for ICE offices across the country and told to report to one of them. The hope has been for migrants to show up at these offices after reaching their final destination, to get work permits.

- Lord God a nation that does not have any borders is not a nation anymore. It is bad enough that the border is flooded with hundreds of illegal immigrants into United States and now they don’t even have to report to court while collecting checks and working. This should not be. We repent on behalf of everyone who has aided in these horrible decisions and we ask God that you would restore our borders and the security and sanctity of our country, in Jesus name, amen.

- "And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you." (i Peter 5:10)

 8. Biden Will Announce Vaccination Requirement for All Federal Workers on Thursday - NBC Washington

President Joe Biden is expected to announce on Thursday that all federal workers will be required to get vaccinated against the coronavirus, two administration officials tell NBC News, following an internal policy review.

The announcement will come during scheduled remarks where Biden is also expected to lay out additional efforts and incentives aimed at ramping up the pace of vaccinations as the more infectious Delta variant surges across the United States and a significant chunk of Americans still refuse the shot, according to one official familiar with the plans.

Federal workers will be required to prove their vaccination status or submit to rigorous testing and other mitigation measures.
Biden alluded to the looming announcement on Tuesday, saying his administration was considering the possibility in response to a reporter’s question. (Read more)

- Lord God we ask that your spirit would encourage all your people who are federal workers to pray to you for guidance and wisdom and direction on what they should do in this difficult situation. Let them stand firm on your word and your direction no matter the backlash. In Jesus name amen.

- "Be on the alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong." (1 Corin. 16:13)

9. All nine members of the Jan. 6 select committee voted to impeach Trump - Just The News

Every member of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's select committee to investigate the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol, which many conservatives view as a partisan game to blame Republicans and conservatives, had voted to impeach Trump.

Of the nine members on the select committee, seven are Democrats: Reps. Bennie Thompson, Zoe Lofgren, Adam Schiff, Jamie Raskin, Pete Aguilar, Stephanie Murphy, Elaine Luria; and two are Republicans: Reps. Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger. All nine of them voted to impeach Trump in January over his alleged involvement in the Jan. 6 riot.
The two Republican committee members publicly feuded with Trump during his presidency.

"My vote to impeach was compelled by the oath I swore to the Constitution," Cheney said at the time of Trump's second impeachment, which resulted in her getting censured by the Wyoming Republican Party. Kinzinger also faced backlash – from his own family – over his vote to impeach Trump. (Read more)

- Lord God this particular committee is obviously partisan just like all the other committees to impeach Trump, to investigate him and abuse him throughout his presidency. There is a better use of our elected representatives' time and taxpayer dollars than these silly partisan games. We cast down this committee's evil plans and purposes that they will not come to fruition and that the truth will continue to be revealed about the set up on January 6.

- "You shall not circulate a false report. Do not put your hand with the wicked to be an unrighteous witness. You shall not follow a crowd to do evil; nor shall you testify in a dispute so as to turn aside after many to pervert justice." (Exodus 23:1-2)

10. Senate votes to start debate on $1.1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure deal - ABC News

Negotiators announced earlier Wednesday that they had reached a deal.

In a key test vote Wednesday evening, the Senate voted in favor of beginning debate on a $1.1 trillion bipartisan infrastructure deal that would provide funding for core items like roads, bridges, waterways and broadband.

Negotiators announced earlier in the day that they had reached a deal on the major aspects of plan. Shortly after news broke that a deal had been reached, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer announced that he would hold the test vote on the bill Wednesday, a critical first step to its passage.

Republican negotiators, all of whom blocked the procedural motion last week, said that they were ready to vote to move the bill forward and on Wednesday evening, 17 Republicans -- including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell -- voted with all of the Democrats to advance the legislation, which was still being finalized. In a surprise split in the Republican leadership, McConnell's deputy, Sen. John Thune, R-S.D., voted no.

Sen. Rob Portman, R-Ohio, the lead Republican negotiator for the bipartisan group, announced the agreement flanked by the four other Republicans in the core negotiating group early Wednesday afternoon.

"As of late last night and really early this morning we now have an agreement on the major issues we are prepared to move forward," Portman said. "We look forward to moving ahead and having the opportunity to have a healthy debate here in the chamber regarding an incredibly important project to the American people." (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for news of this breakthrough, and we continue to ask wisdom for all the Senators in Congress as they now tackle the finer points of the passage of this bill. In Your name, we pray, amen.

- "For the LORD gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding." (Proverbs 2:6)
The Daily Jot

Stupidocrisy: Mask Or No Mask

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, July 28, 2021

The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) Tuesday unintentionally condemned the effectiveness of COVID 19 vaccines by reversing its previous reversal to require vaccinated people to wear masks indoors. The CDC actually said that due to recent spikes in the Delta variant of COVID 19, people who are fully vaccinated should wear masks indoors in areas of high transmission. Everyone is jumping on the CDC for reversing direction once again. A very careful study of the CDC website indicates that this leading source for COVID information is all over the board regarding vaccine safety, mask safety, and effectiveness of the vaccine. If any government agency should be consistent and truthful, it’s CDC, but…

Under CDC’s Frequency Asked Questions section [ https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/faq.html ] is the question: “Do I need to wear a mask and avoid close contact with others if I am fully vaccinated?” Answer: “No. Fully vaccinated people can resume activities without wearing a mask or physically distancing, except where required by federal, state, local, tribal, or territorial laws, rules, and regulations, including local business and workplace guidance. If you are fully vaccinated, you can resume activities that you did before the pandemic.” In the “What You Can Do” section [https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html ] it says that if you are fully vaccinated, you need to wear a mask indoors to reduce the risk of being infected with the Delta variant and possibly spreading it to others. MSNBC, ABC, NBC completely avoid Barbara Boxer assault-robbery, CBS offers less than 7 seconds of coverage
Former Sen. Barbara Boxer said she was assaulted and robbed while in Oakland, Calif., on Monday, according to a Twitter post on her account.  (The Associated Press)

The liberal networks offered little to no coverage of the assault and robbery of former Democratic California Sen. Barbara Boxer as it's become the latest example of the media's efforts to downplay the growing violence that has plagued cities across the country.

It was first reported on Monday evening that Boxer was attacked by two thieves and had her cellphone stolen while walking in her hometown of Oakland. CNN and MSNBC failed to mention the breaking news during their primetime lineups.

While CNN broke its blackout briefly addressing the incident on its poorly-watched morning program "New Day," MSNBC continued the blackout throughout Tuesday according to Grabien transcripts, focusing much of its coverage on the Jan. 6 committee hearing.

Perhaps the most puzzling element of MSNBC's omitted coverage of the assault was the fact that Boxer was a semi-frequent guest of the liberal cable news network, appearing on-air as recently as this past Saturday to discuss the Jan. 6 committee.

In contrast, MSNBC dedicated more time to the passing of former Republican Wyoming Senator Mike Enzi, who died following a tragic bicycle accident, with early morning mentions on "Way Too Early" and "Morning Joe." (Read more)

Fighting the Good Fight
Pelosi Plays Politics

Speaker Nancy Pelosi's Soviet show trial into the events of January 6th began yesterday on Capitol Hill.  Virtually every American would like to know more about exactly what happened on January 6th, including why there was such a security breakdown especially since the FBI had advance warning that violence was possible.

But it's clear that the purpose of this committee is not to discover any of those details.  And that's the most important point you must understand.

The purpose of these hearings is not to find the truth, but to promote a false narrative that Donald Trump caused the violence, and to indict not just those arrested but to also defame and discredit the 74 million people who voted for Donald Trump. That was obvious given that all nine of Pelosi's handpicked committee members voted to impeach Trump. And it was obvious in her choice of witnesses.  (Here and here.)

This is the strategy of the Democrat Party and their media allies. They are lobbing irresponsible charges of growing white supremacy, comparing conservatives to the Taliban and now putting on a show trial. The purpose of these hearings is to demonize you, to intimidate you, and politically destroy the half of the country that does not want America to become a failed Marxist state.

And you don't have to take my word for it.  The National Association of Police blasted the hearing as a "dog and pony show," and demanded an investigation into last year's Antifa/BLM riots that killed dozens of people and injured 2,000 law enforcement officers.

It is disgraceful that Republicans Liz Cheney and Adam Kinzinger are willing accomplices in this charade.  They are standing with the radical left that is destroying this country because they are so consumed with hatred for Donald Trump and his supporters.

I am 100% committed to ensuring that both are defeated and replaced with solid, America First conservatives!

Mississippi Asks Supreme Court to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Lawyers for the state of Mississippi urged the Supreme Court on Thursday to overturn Roe v. Wade, taking a more aggressive approach than the one they presented when they asked the court to hear the case a year ago. The case for overturning the two main decisions that legalized abortion in the U.S. — Roe v. Wade in 1973 and a later case, 1992's Planned Parenthood v. Casey — is overwhelming, the state said. "The conclusion that abortion is a constitutional right has no basis in text, structure, history, or tradition," it said. By ruling that a state may not impose an undue burden on a right to abortion, the Supreme Court has placed itself "at the center of a controversy that it can never resolve." The state is appealing lower court rulings that struck down a law banning most abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The law, the Gestational Age Act, would allow later abortions only in medical emergencies or cases of severe fetal abnormality.” read more at NBC News

THINK.
U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX), Josh Hawley (R-MO), and Mike Lee (R-UT), filed a separate brief in support of Mississippi’s plea to overturn Roe v. Wade. In that decision nearly fifty years ago, the Court created a Constitutional right to abortion, even though no such right is mentioned in the Constitution itself. Since then, it has struggled to clearly and consistently define the legal limits. When judges do not feel bound by the original intent of a law, their decisions lack a firm foundation outside of their own judgment. In her brief to the court, state Attorney General Lynn Fitch argued, “The only workable approach...is to return the matter to ‘legislators, not judges.’...The national fever on abortion can break only when this Court returns abortion policy to the states – where agreement is more common, compromise is more possible, and disagreement can be resolved at the ballot box.” One debate that Congress has the power to resolve is whether taxpayers should be forced to pay for abortions. A bill that obtained the support of fifty members of Congress would ban federal funding of colleges and universities that distribute chemical abortion pills to students. The relevancy of this measure is highlighted by the fact that California will require these abortion pills to be provided to students on all state campuses by 2023. The Congressional pro-life bill likely won’t advance this year but it is a good agenda item if a conservative pro-life majority is established in the 2022 midterms. Last week, U.S. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s archbishop rebuked her for planning to abolish the Hyde Amendment—an annual provision that bans most taxpayer funding of abortion. “No one can claim to be a devout Catholic and condone the killing of innocent human life, let alone have the government pay for it,” he stated publicly. An encouraging case last week occurred when the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a Seattle-area church will not be required to provide insurance that pays for abortions. The church had filed their lawsuit in response to a 2018 state law that did not exempt churches from having to provide abortion coverage. How far we have come from the 1973 rhetoric of “safe, legal, and rare.” While abortion is touted as “essential healthcare,” at its heart, the movement is rooted in upholding human autonomy over God’s value of human life. Therefore, it is relentless in advancing its agenda in every area of society. Whatever its legal status, then, we must be equally relentless in advancing God’s kingdom, which saves us from our selfish sin, and offers mercy and grace in our failures.

PRAY.
The Supreme Court has agreed to hear Mississippi’s case, and oral arguments will likely take place in November or December. A final decision will be released next year. Commit to pray consistently and fervently for the justices during this time. Pray that they will uphold justice for unborn babies. (Luke 18:1-8)

- Lord God we pray that your Spirit would move on the heart of every justice that they will uphold justice for all unborn babies in Jesus name amen.

- "And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off?  I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly." (Luke 18:6-7)

‘WE ALL QUIT’: How America’s Workers Are Taking Back Their Power

Something remarkable is happening in fast food establishments, retail stores, and restaurants across America. You may have seen photos of it go viral. You may have even experienced it in real life if you've dined at a Chili's or Applebee's and the hostess apologizes for extra-long wait times.

“WE ALL QUIT, SORRY FOR THE INCONVENIENCE,” disgruntled employees posted in giant letters on a sign outside a Burger King in Lincoln, Nebraska earlier this month.

"Almost the entire crew and managers have walked out until further notice," Chipotle workers wrote in Philadelphia on a sign posted on the glass doors of their restaurant.

“Closed indefinitely because Dollar General doesn’t pay a living wage or treat their employees with respect," retail workers scribbled in Sharpie outside a Dollar General in Eliot, Maine, after the entire store quit en masse.

In recent months, these mass resignations have been part of a national reckoning over a so-called "labor shortage." On one hand there are the businesses that want to continue to pay workers what they've always made (which is very little). On the other, workers and those who support them say there needs to be a fundamental reassessment of what work looks like in the United States.

Why are low-wage workers quitting their jobs now?

For the first time in more than two decades, fast food, retail, and hospitality workers have the leverage to resign from their jobs in protest of decades of deteriorating working conditions, which often include stagnant wages, unpredictable schedules, and no health care or paid sick leave.

A better social safety net during the pandemic and a tight labor market in the fast food, leisure, and hospitality industries is allowing this to happen. Historically, these sectors are among the least protected by labor laws and the most precarious workers in the country; many of them were deemed "essential" during the worst parts of the pandemic.

"It's an act of protest against abuses and exploitative conditions," said Patricia Campos Medina, executive director of the Worker's Institute at Cornell University. "It’s a sense of empowerment that workers don’t have to tolerate that kind of abuse." (Vice.com) Read more here.

- Father God, in this report, we can clearly see the writing on the wall. This move comes directly out of the Marxist playbook, creating a "workers' uprising" and throwing our entire economy into turmoil.

LORD GOD, WE ASK YOU TO FORGIVE THOSE WHO ARE PROMOTING THIS AGENDA, FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY DO. WE LAY AXE TO THE ROOT OF THIS TREE OF EVIL, CASTING IT DOWN TO THE GROUND THROUGH THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB, THE WORD OF OUR TESTIMONY, AND LOVING OUR LIVES NOT UNTO THE DEATH.

We ask that a spirit of REPENTANCE would fall upon these workers who are striking,
renewing their minds with common sense and bringing them to You.

Save us, O Lord, we pray from the works of the evil one who is now attempting to destroy America, across the nation, from within. We pray for a touch of the Spirit of the Most High God to move across our land, bringing renewed LIFE, HOPE and SALVATION to the many who are lost! We ask all of this in Your Holy Name, Abba, amen and amen!

- "The axe lies ready at the root of the trees, and every tree that does not produce good fruit will be cut down and thrown into the fire." (Matthew 3:10)

"For the Lord loves justice,
And does not forsake His saints;
They are preserved forever,
But the descendants of the wicked shall be cut off."

(Psalm 37:28)

Twin meteor showers could spark fireballs to close out July

The last week of July will feature an astronomical double-header that will serve as an appetizer for one of the biggest night sky events of 2021.

Two meteor showers are set to peak on the night of July 28 and into the early morning of July 29, culminating in one of the few opportunities to see a meteor shower during the warm summer nights.

The last moderate meteor shower to peak was the Eta Aquarids in early May, but cloudy conditions spoiled the event for many across the eastern U.S. and across the northern tier of the country.

The two meteor showers that are unfolding this week are the Southern Delta Aquarids and the Alpha Capricornids.

In a typical year, the two would combine for around 15 to 20 meteors per hour, according to the American Meteor Society, but the dueling meteor showers will not be as impressive this year due to the moon.

The moon will be around 75% full on Wednesday night, with the moonlight washing out some of the dimmer meteors. Read More

Asia Bibi says years on death row made her 'strong in faith'

Asia Bibi, a Pakistani Christian mother who spent more than eight years on death row for blasphemy, says her experience made her grow "strong in faith".

Speaking through a translator on the last day of the Religious Freedom Summit in Washington DC last week, she told the story of a bird that would come to visit her each morning outside her prison cell - even after she moved prisons - and how she took this as a sign from God that he was with her in her ordeal.

Bibi was accused of blasphemy in 2009 after an argument with the women she worked with. She was sentenced to death the following year and only acquitted by Pakistan's Supreme Court in October 2018.

She now lives in Canada with her family after being forced to flee Pakistan due to death threats.

Recalling her years behind bars, she said she was "totally broken" after her imprisonment but was able to find hope despite her terrible circumstances after making it a daily habit to feed the birds outside her cell with some leftover food and water. "I was sharing my faith even with those birds also, and that has led me to be more strong in faith," she said.

Words of encouragement from her father also helped her to stay strong. She recalled him telling her, "Don't worry about your life, if you are going to be killed, but never compromise on your faith and be strong."

When she was finally released, she knew it was a "miracle" that would not have been possible "without God's intervention." Now her message to other Christians in Pakistan is to "grow in their faith" and "stay strong in their faith," and her call to other believers is to "join hands and stand together so we can be a voice for our Christian brothers and sisters who are suffering and help them out of their situations like the Lord has done for me." Thoughts for Repentance
Dear sisters and brothers in Christ Jesus, part of a growing repentance remnant globally,

Thanks to the Blood of Christ and His Gift of Repentance we can have the Mind of Christ.

Philippians 2:5 says: " Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus...."

In another version it says: " Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus....

I believe the call of the Holy Spirit in this verse is to join with others in repentance, removing the old sin patterns, humbly becoming of one accord, so as to access together the Mind of Christ. Read More

O the Deep Deep Love of Jesus

Words: S. Trevor Francis
Music:  Thomas Williams

Scripture: How wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ. Ephesians 3:17–18

Lyrics:
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, vast, unmeasured, boundless, free!
Rolling as a mighty ocean in its fullness over me!
Underneath me, all around me, is the current of Thy love
Leading onward, leading homeward to Thy glorious rest above!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, spread His praise from shore to shore!
How He loveth, ever loveth, changeth never, nevermore!
How He watches o’er His loved ones, died to call them all His own;
How for them He intercedeth, watcheth o’er them from the throne!

O the deep, deep love of Jesus, love of every love the best!
’Tis an ocean full of blessing, ’tis a haven giving rest!
O the deep, deep love of Jesus, ’tis a heaven of heavens to me;
And it lifts me up to glory, for it lifts me up to Thee!
