Cruz and 24 Senate Republicans file amicus brief defending Second Amendment right to carry

EXCLUSIVE: Sen. Ted Cruz and two dozen Senate Republicans, including Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, filed an amicus brief Tuesday in a Second Amendment case the Supreme Court is set to hear this fall, arguing that New York gun law violates the right to bear arms under the Constitution.

Cruz and his GOP colleagues filed a brief in New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen, which the Supreme Court granted cert for in April.

The high court, in its October 2021 term, is set to consider whether the Second Amendment allows the government to prohibit ordinary law-abiding citizens from carrying handguns outside the home for self-defense.

New York law prohibits carrying a firearm outside the home without a license and then makes it extremely difficult to get a license. New York requires people to show cause why they should get a license.

The Republican senators argued that the New York law violates the right to bear arms under the Second Amendment, arguing that the point of including this right in the Constitution was so that the decision would be taken out of the hands of state and federal legislators.

"Legislators—whether in Albany or Washington D.C.—have neither the power nor the authority to second-guess the policy judgments made by the Framers and enshrined in the Constitution," Cruz and his Republican colleagues wrote in the amicus brief. "Firearms policy can be complex, and members of Congress, like state and local officials, may disagree vehemently," they wrote. "But elected officials swear to support and defend the Constitution and so much respect when the Framers took a decision out of their hands. The Second Amendment’s guarantee of the right to keep and bear arms cannot be second-guessed by legislators across the country who simply disagree with the choice the Framers made," they wrote.

Cruz and McConnell were joined by GOP Sens. John Barrasso, Marsha Blackburn, John Boozman, Mike Braun, John Cornyn, Tom Cotton, Kevin Cramer, Mike Crapo, Steve Daines, Josh Hawley, John Hoeven, Cindy Hyde-Smith, Jim Inhofe, Ron Johnson, James Lankford, Mike Lee, Cynthia Lummis, Roger Marshall, Jerry Moran, Jim Risch, Marco Rubio, Rick Scott, and Thom Tillis in their brief. - Thank You, Father God, for these men and women in the U.S. Senate who stand
ready to defend our rights under the U.S. Constitution. We praise You that they have now formed a coalition, and have banded together to present this case before the Supreme Court. We ask that Your Hand of Protection would rest upon each member, as well as their families; and that the Supreme Court would rule in their favor when that time comes. We ask all of this in Your Mighty Name, amen and amen.

- "Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord."              (Psalm 150:6)

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. PM Bennett: We won't tolerate rocket fire from Lebanon - Jerusalem Post

Israel will not tolerate rocket fire from Lebanon, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett said Tuesday after two rockets were fired into Israeli territory early in the morning.
“I say this sharply and clearly: We will not allow harm to Israel’s sovereignty and security,” he said during a visit to Ma’alot-Tarshiha in the Upper Galilee several hours after the rocket fire. “Whoever tries to harm us will pay a painful price.”

“Lebanon is on the verge of collapse, like any country in which Iran bases itself,” Bennett said. “Its citizens were taken hostage by [Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei and [Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan] Nasrallah for the sake of Iranian interests... This is unfortunate, but we will not accept a spillover of the situation in Lebanon into Israel.” (Read more)

2. Chief of Staff: We will respond overtly and covertly to attacks from Lebanon - Israel National News

IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi, visited the Northern Command today to inspect the IDF's readiness on the northern front.

Kochavi responded to the rocket fire last night from Lebanon towards Israel, saying: "The state of Lebanon is in the process of collapsing. Hezbollah has a significant part in this collapse. However, we do not intend to allow firing of the kind that occurred the morning towards the northern settlements. We will respond and attack, openly or covertly, to any breach of our sovereignty from Lebanon."

Sirens were sounded overnight Monday in communities located in the Western Galilee near the border with Lebanon. (Read more)

3. International Delegation of Ambassadors Begins Diplomatic Visit to Israel - Algemeiner

JNS.org – A delegation of foreign ambassadors to the United States and United Nations began a week-long visit in Israel on Friday, hosted by Israeli Ambassador to the United Nations Gilad Erdan and sponsored by the American Zionist Movement (AZM).

Diplomats from Australia, Argentina, Bhutan, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Hungary, Kenya, Guatemala, Ukraine and Tonga are participating.

“It is our sincere pleasure to sponsor this diplomatic visit in partnership with Ambassador Erdan,” said AZM President Deborah Isaac. “We hope that the participants will come away from the experience with a deeper and more realistic perspective of Israel and the threats it faces, as well as an appreciation for the rich and diverse culture of the State of Israel. The American Zionist Movement looks forward to forging new and lasting friendships with the members of the delegation and their host countries.” (Read more)

4. Lapid to make historic visit to Morocco - World Israel News

Foreign Minister Yair Lapid announced Monday that he will be visiting Morocco in the coming weeks as Israel and the North African kingdom continue the process of diplomatic normalization which began last year.

“At the end of last week, I agreed with the minister of foreign affairs of Morocco, Nasser Bourita, on the first official visit of an Israeli foreign minister to Morocco, as part of the renewal of full diplomatic relations,” Lapid tweeted.

“This is a historic event. I would like to thank the King of Morocco, His Excellency Mohammed VI, for his leadership in promoting the visit and renewing relations,” he said. (Read more)

5. Israel expected to require all travelers entering the country to self-isolate - Times of Israel

Israel is likely to soon impose mandatory quarantine on all travelers — including the vaccinated and those who have recovered from COVID-19 — entering the country, aiming to stem the resurgence of the coronavirus, according to television reports Monday evening.

The development came as more than 1,100 cases were diagnosed in the country as of Monday at 10 p.m., and as authorities urged Israelis to avoid unnecessary international travel due to rising global COVID-19 cases, but said the government was not currently weighing closing the country’s borders again.

The Health Ministry is expected to recommend a self-isolation period of between four and seven days to the coronavirus cabinet during a Tuesday meeting, and ministers are expected to approve such a move, the Kan public broadcaster and channels 12 and 13 reported. (Read more)

1. China is buying up American farms. Washington wants to crack down. - POLITICO

The push to drain China’s influence from the U.S. economy has reached America’s farm country, as congressional lawmakers from both parties are looking at measures to crack down on foreign purchases of prime agricultural real estate.

House lawmakers recently advanced legislation to that effect, warning that China’s presence in the American food system poses a national security risk. And key Senate lawmakers have already shown interest in efforts to keep American farms in American hands.

The debate over farm ownership comes amid broader efforts by Congress and the Biden administration to curb the nation’s economic reliance on China, especially in key industries like food, semiconductors and minerals deemed crucial to the supply chain. The call for tighter limits on who owns America’s farms has come from a wide range of political leaders, from former Vice President Mike Pence to Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), after gaining momentum seeded in farm states. (Read more)
- Thank You Abba that there are lawmakers who seem to care about the future of our nation's farming economy.  May this legislation be enacted and may American farmland remain in the hands of American farmers, in Jesus name.  Let no opposition prosper and may everything move forward so that the enemy and naysayers are unable to hinder it.

- "I am the vine, you are the branches.  He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing."  (John 15:5)

2. North Carolina county launches 'doses to doors' vaccine campaign | Fox News Fox

[Click on the title to find the original article.]

Health department workers and community outreach groups have kicked off a "doses to doors" COVID-19 vaccination campaign in Mecklenburg County, North Carolina, where just 49% of residents have received at least one jab. The program, which officials say offer a convenient way for residents to get the shot without having to worry about travel, was met with mixed reaction on Twitter.

"They don’t move that fast to help people when they know a hurricane is coming," one Twitter user wrote

The program, which has a health professional on standby to administer a vaccine to eligible residents who want one, follows a community canvassing effort launched in May. Volunteers had been providing information about vaccines in previous weeks, focusing primarily on neighborhoods with low vaccine rates.

- Lord, as this campaign moves forward, we pray that You will protect those who do not wish to be vaccinated. Let this be voluntary, not mandatory.

- ''Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.'' (Romans 12:2)

3. Florida man Paul Hodgkins gets 8 months in prison, is first Jan. 6 defendant sentenced on a felony charge - USA Today

Florida man became the first felon sentenced Monday for his role in the Jan. 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, receiving eight months in prison and being ordered to pay $2,000 in restitution for a portion of the damage to the building.

Hodgkins, 38, of Tampa faced sentencing guidelines of 15 to 21 months in prison after pleading guilty to obstruction of an official proceeding for interrupting Congress' counting of Electoral College votes. He spent 15 minutes in the Senate chamber, holding a flag supporting former President Donald Trump and taking pictures.

District Judge Randolph Moss called literally waving the flag for Trump an unmistakable sign of loyalty to a single person rather than the country and democracy.
“Although Mr. Hodgkins was only one member of a larger mob, he actively and intentionally participated in an event that threatened not only the security of the Capitol but democracy itself,” Moss said. "That is chilling, for many reasons." (Read more)

- Father, how dare these so-called judges be exercising their own personal opinions from the bench that is intended to be without bias or malice.  We pray for Paul Hodgkins to be filled with the Holy Spirit and fire, so that every moment of incarceration for him is an overflowing explosion of the glory of God wherever he goes.  This entire judicial system needs a Holy Ghost overhaul.  Let it begin with this man and pour out over all those like him, who are yet uncharged and incarcerated under cruel and inhumane treatment in solitary confinement, receiving blows and limited nutrition.

- "Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops."  (Luke 12:3)

4. Pentagon contractor investigating 'extremism' says BLM web search raises concerns about White supremacy - Fox News

The Pentagon is reportedly working with an extremism analysis company that considers the web search "the truth about Black Lives Matter" and others to be signs of interest in or engagement with White supremacism.

According to Defense One, the contractor Moonshot CVE, which has ties to the Obama Foundation, is working on data that would identify which military bases and branches have the most troops searching for domestic extremist content. While that particular project's contours are unclear, the company previously released a June report, in conjunction with the left-leaning Anti-Defamation League, on purported "White supremacy trends in the United States."

In it, the U.K.-based company said it "monitored a list of almost 1,600 indicators of interest in or engagement with White supremacism, focused specifically on anti-Black and anti-Semitic narratives being used by extremist groups." As examples, it listed the search phrases "George Floyd deserved to die," "Jews will not replace us" and "the truth about black lives matter." (Read more)

- Holy One, this report highlights the activities of such strange bedfellows from England, Europe and the US, which appear to have partnerships with many of those who oppose freedom and the Constitution of the United States of America.  May we see this type of censorship, accusation and mistrust be brought down and defeated so that Your light, truth and holiness is lifted up over this nation, our sovereign national military and freedom of speech.

- "'For it shall come to pass in that day,' Says the Lord of hosts, 'That I will break his yoke from your neck, And will burst your bonds; Foreigners shall no more enslave them. But they shall serve the Lord their God,' . . . "  (Jeremiah 30:8-9a)

5. Trump blasts Maricopa County after auditors demand routers - DML News

Former President Donald Trump released a statement on Monday, slamming Maricopa County, Arizona officials for refusing to turn over the routers used with the voting machines in the November election. Last week, during a state senate hearing, officials responsible for the forensic audit in Maricopa County shared details of several irregularities they allegedly found during the audit process, and said the system was breached in November.

CyFIR founder Ben Cotton, a digital forensics expert w/25+ years U.S. govt and private sector experience, testified that it is critical that they obtain the routers in order to complete the audit.

Trump fired off the following statement on Monday:
Why won’t the RINO Maricopa Co. Board of Supervisors in AZ give the routers? What are they trying to hide? They are fighting for life or death. What is going on? Give the routers!
Doesn’t this mean that the voting was, despite their statements to the contrary, connected to the internet? (Read more)

- Our Mighty God, we also wonder why these vital items are being withheld if there is no problem with them.  Dear Lord, we know that You have ways to bring the truth to light as no other can.  We ask You to bring circumstances to pass that will confirm what the real results of the election in this county were and then bring that about in all other counties across the country where there is suspected fraud.  We praise You for how mighty and miraculous Your works are in our land to correct evil.

- "Thou hast a mighty arm:  strong is thy hand, and high is thy right hand."     (Psalms 89:13)

6. State Troopers Hold Back Migrant Border Rush in Texas - Brietbart

Fox News’ Bill Melugin tweeted videos showing a group of hundreds of migrants attempting to push their way through a border barrier in Del Rio on Monday. The videos show troopers from Florida, Nebraska, and Texas coordinating with Border Patrol agents to help hold the group back.

A law enforcement source within Customs and Border Protection tells Breitbart Texas that nearly 500 migrants, mostly Haitians and Venezuelans, entered the United States on Monday. The source reports that “it’s not one single group–nearly 500 have crossed early this morning in an unstoppable wave.”
Texas Governor Greg Abbott also sounded off on the incident Monday.

“In less than seven months, President Biden’s dangerous and reckless open border policies have created a magnet for illegal immigrants, with 20-year record-high numbers surging across our southern border,” Governor Abbott said Monday. “This latest wave of hundreds of migrants rushing our border gates in Del Rio creates chaos for border officials and law enforcement, which is exactly what cartels and smugglers want.” (Read more)

- Precious Lord, we thank You that the troopers from other states have been a great help in restraining the numbers of illegals trying to cross the border.  We pray for angelic reinforcements to come to their aid.  Above all, we pray for these harmful policies to be changed either by a rearranging of priorities by those in charge or a change of administration so that YOUR work of peace and righteousness in the US may continue.

- "And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever."  (Isaiah 32:17)

7. Vaccinated Pelosi and Biden aides test positive for COVID - Fox News

A spokesperson for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tested positive Monday  for coronavirus following a meeting last week with members of the Texas Legislature who fled the state for Washington, D.C.

Drew Hammill, a top aide to Pelosi, said the unidentified staff member was fully vaccinated and did not have recent contact with the top California Democrat, though the speaker's office is taking extra precautions as a result.

"Yesterday, a fully vaccinated senior spokesperson in the speaker’s press office tested positive for COVID after contact with members of the Texas state legislature last week," Hammill said in a statement obtained by Fox News.

On Tuesday, Pelosi and her staff were spotted wearing masks again at the Capitol. Following a loosening of mask restrictions by the Capitol physician, many members have opted against masks in recent weeks. (Read more)

-  Father God, we are disturbed to hear of so many vaccinated persons testing positive for COVID after the government has urged everyone to take "the jab." We bind up the spirit of fear that has permeated the atmosphere of our country concerning this virus and especially come against the oppressive measures that our government has proposed that have not worked. Lord, send a treatment and a safe preventative to combat this plague.  We ultimately look to You to bring this sickness under Your control.  Help us flow in the authority You have given us.

- "And heal the sick that are therein, saying unto them, the kingdom of God is come nigh unto you."  (Luke 10:9)

 8. Fauci, Rand Paul trade 'lying' accusations about gain-of-function research in hearing on delta variant - Fox News

Top government epidemiologist Dr. Anthony Fauci and Sen. Rand Paul traded accusations of "lying" about gain-of-function research at a Tuesday Senate hearing, continuing the long-running feud between the National Institute for Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) director and the Kentucky senator.

Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Rochelle Walensky was also asked about continued health measures like mask mandates on public transportation and vaccine mandates for school children.

In his questioning of Fauci, Paul stepped close to the line of accusing Fauci of lying to Congress in previous testimony in which he said that the NIAID had never funded gain-of-function research in China. Citing a paper on research about bat coronaviruses, Paul said that U.S. money had essentially gone to the hazardous and controversial research – an assertion Fauci strongly objected to.

You're dancing around this because you're trying to obscure responsibility," Paul added

https://www.foxnews.com/politics/fauci-walensky-masks-virus-rules-delta-covid-spread-senate-hearing

- Lord God, everyone has their opinions on this matter, but You have the truth. We humbly ask for You to continue to reveal the truth of the virus origin, spread and gain-of-function research. We do know the ultimate answer to this pandemic is JESUS! May all activity surrounding the COVID-19 virus be gathered and pieced together into a true picture. May whistleblowers have favor as they bravely expose evidence, and may nations kneel in repentance before You that You may then heal our lands.

- Then the LORD replied: “Write down the revelation and make it plain on tablets so that a herald may run with it.”  (Habakkuk 2:2)
9. Judge says churches haven't shown Virginia will punish them for violating new LGBTQ law - Just The News

Christian ministries failed to convince a Virginia judge last week that they are suffering ongoing harm from a new state law banning employment discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity.

“Is there an actual controversy here?" Loudoun County Circuit Judge James Plowman asked the lawyer for Calvary Road Baptist Church, Community Fellowship Church, Community Christian Academy and pro-life ministry Care Net at the Friday hearing.

They had made "speculative claims" about how the Virginia Values Act (SB 868), which took effect about a year ago, would be enforced, the judge said. "There are not reasonably foreseeable actions to be taken against these [religious] institutions" from the language of the law itself.

The ministries had engaged in "undisputed" self-censorship and chilled speech, past and ongoing, in response to the crippling financial penalties available under the law, argued Denise Harle, senior counsel for the Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF).  (Read more)

Father God, while we may not understand all of the legal mumbo-jumbo in this case, we surely do understand Your word that calls LGBTQ behavior perverse and unacceptable to You. May Your church, Your organizations, stand tall, do the right thing and trust You for help, as well as appeal this decision. May all Christian churches, schools and businesses find favor to conduct their business based on their Christian beliefs and not fear censorship and “crippling financial penalties”. May our First Amendment rights be clearly upheld, and may we not “fall into the jaws of the trap set by the government”!

- So we say with confidence: "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?"  (Hebrews 13:6)

10. Bezos, crew return safely from space after historic, 11-minute journey - Just The News

Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of Amazon, on Wednesday completed the first manned commercial space flight for his Blue Origin company.

“Best day ever," Bezos said upon returning safely to earth following his and the crew's 11-minute flight to the edge of space.
The rocket – New Shepard – departed from west Texas. The crew was Bezos' 53-year-old brother Mark, an 18-year-old from the Netherlands, and an 82-year-old female aviation pioneer from Texas.

The journey was made on the 52nd anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.
The rocket reached an altitude of 66 miles, which is 10 more than rocket of fellow billionaire Richard Branson reached July 11. (Read more)

- Thank You, Father God, for the safe journey to the edge of space and back granted to Jeff Bezos and the crew of New Shepard. As more and more people travel in space or gaze at photos and videos from explorations, may they marvel at the wonders of Your creation and come to know You as their personal Shepherd and Savior.

- "The heavens tell of the glory of God; And their expanse declares the work of His hands. Day to day pours forth speech, And night to night reveals knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; Their voice is not heard. Their line has gone out into all the earth, And their words to the end of the world."  (Psalm 19:1-4b)

Race Baiting And Truth

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, July 20, 2021

If you listen to the Democratic Party leadership and their propaganda arm, the mainstream news media, all black people view white people as racist, white supremacists, privileged, and just downright evil. They want to teach in public schools from the youngest of grades, a theory that a person’s skin color has historically dictated his character—the very exact opposite of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s teaching that people should be judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin. All black people do not think and believe as the Democratic Party and mainstream media suggest. In fact, if you go to the heartland of America, you may get an entirely different point of view. Scott Turner is one such man.

Mr. Turner is chairman of the Center for Education Opportunity at the America First Policy Institute. Previously, he served as the executive director of the White House Opportunity and Revitalization Council. Before entering public service, Turner played cornerback in the National Football League for nine seasons with the Washington Redskins, San Diego Chargers, and the Denver Broncos. He is a strong Christian, and ordained pastor. He is also a Black man. He says, “In spite of what you may hear, black people do not want open borders, we don’t want to defund the police, and we don’t want higher taxes and more spending. Entrepreneurship, innovation, skills training, economic sustainability, and generational wealth creation are equally as important in the black community as in any other in America.” Read More

Jeff Bezos Launches into Space on Blue Origin’s
First Astronaut Flight

LAUNCH SITE ONE, West Texas—The richest person on Earth has now traveled beyond it.

Jeff Bezos, the billionaire founder of the spaceflight company Blue Origin, launched into suborbital space with three other people today (July 20) on the first crewed mission of the company’s New Shepard vehicle—a landmark moment for the man and the space tourism industry.

“Blue Control, Bezos. Best day ever!” Bezos said while in flight.

The autonomous New Shepard, which consists of a rocket topped by a capsule, lifted off from Blue Origin’s Launch Site One near the West Texas town of Van Horn today at 9:11 a.m. EDT (1311 GMT; 8:11 a.m.local time).

The capsule carried Bezos, 57, his brother Mark, 53, 82-year-old aviation pioneer Wally Funk and 18-year-old Dutch physics student Oliver Daemen 66.5 miles (107 kilometers) above Earth, then came down for a parachute-aided, dust-raising landing in the West Texas scrublands. The rocket also returned safely, making a vertical, powered touchdown at its designated landing zone. Its descent was punctuated by a deafening sonic boom, along with raucous cheers from the Blue Origin workers here who watched the flight.

The Good News Corner
Donated Cars and Cash Flood in to South Carolina Mechanic Who Fixes Them And Gives Them Away to Those in Need
A few weeks ago, the CBS Evening News featured a rural South Carolina man who is transforming lives by repairing broken cars and giving them away for free.

Where Eliot Middleton lives, there’s no public transportation, no Ubers or taxi’s. So, if you don’t have a car, there are few options for those with kids or physical conditions.

Middleton, who owns a barbecue restaurant, is also a trained mechanic who rehabs donated cars in his spare time. Before the CBS report, he had gifted 32 cars to rural families since last September.

But, after the report aired on nationwide TV, Eliot received an explosion of donations including more than 800 cars.

A flood of cash also poured in to his Gofundme page—$129,000—and he has thousands of notes from folks offering their help and services to assist his mission. Someone even donated a flatbed truck to help him move all these cars from all over the country.

“My phone started exploding from all over the place,” he told CBS reporter Mark Strassmann from his home in Awendaw.

Middleton’s sister is helping organize the overwhelming response, also pouring in through Eliot’s Facebook page, Middleton’s Village To Village Foundation.

“Whatever glowing feeling is inside me, it just transferred from that TV screen and went inside them,” he said.

“It’s soul-soothing.”  (Good News Network) Read more.

The Republic of South Africa was once a nation that strongly believed in their God, and many battles were fought and won by True Faith in their God. But this faith has been lost over the years, and many have fallen away and are questioning why they should believe. And only a small number of believers are still fighting the battle in prayer and intercession day and night for their beloved country. That fight for God's plan for His nation and His healing is what is keeping this nation from further break down. Read More

Oh, what a Father, Redeemer, and Friend!
Jesus will answer whenever you call;
He will take care of you, trust Him for all.

God will take care of you, through all the day,
Shielding your footsteps, directing your way;
He is your shepherd, protector, and guide,
Leading His children where still waters glide.

Granting you blessings no other can give;
He will take care of you when time is past,

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government.
