News from National Day of Repentance

News from the National Day of Prayer:

A Message from Kathy Branzell, President
National Day of Prayer

"Prepared for His Glory to be Revealed"

National Day of Prayer is NOT canceled nor postponed!

"For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory that is to be revealed to us." (Romans 8:18 NAS)

I pray that you had a worshipful Easter even as you prayed, sang, and heard the glory-filled message of the resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He is risen and He reigns! It is with that knowledge that we can press on in these unprecedented days and challenges; being found faithful and fruitful in preparing for the glory He will reveal each day, and even more as He has planned and promised us.

I also pray that you have heard that The National Day of Prayer will NOT be canceled nor postponed. While the number of people you pray beside in person or in the same room may be different this year, the prayers we pray will be multiplied and amplified. Across our homes, neighborhoods, cities, states, nation and the world through many creative and innovative ways, our NDP leadership team and coordinators are planning to, "Pray God's Glory Across the Earth!"

The National Day of Prayer National Observance will still take place on May 7th from 8:00 -10:00 ET. It will be broadcast, streamed and posted in many ways including on our website at nationaldayofprayer.org. In addition, it can be seen on our Facebook Live that will be cross-posted by many of our partners, Instagram, and more. It can be viewed on television on GodTV, Daystar, NLC, and possibly more to come, and on radio through Moody and Bott Radio Networks.

[The conference line will be published shortly!]

In the meantime, please go here to find just a few of our plans and suggestions for you.

These are just a few of the ideas we have put into place, so please continue checking our website over the next few days for more information.

If you have an innovative and creative idea that you would like to share with us, we would be delighted to hear from you. Serving together, National Day of Prayer may have more prayer and more pray-ers than ever before. Please join us as we, "Pray God's Glory Across the Earth."

Please pray with us now:

Lord Jesus, we love You and praise You as our resurrected and reigning Lord and Savior. We yearn to see the knowledge and the worship of You fill the earth. We pray that the many messages that were preached and shared over Easter weekend would continue to fill the earth, the hearts, and minds of the people who may have heard it for the first time - or who are rejoicing in faith as they hear it again. We lift up thanks and praise as we also intercede for our nation and neighbors next door and around the world for Your provision and protection, for health and hope. We lift up our prayers and watch expectantly for Your glory to shine and spread across the earth.

Serving Him with Gladness,

Kathy Branzell, President

Focus on Israel

1. Netanyahu: Land of Israel is National Home of Jewish People according to Bible - Breaking Israel News

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu marked the 100th anniversary of the San Remo conference on Sunday in a Facebook post where he said: "The Land of Israel is the national home of the Jewish people, according to history, the Bible, justice, and international law."

Netanyahu also said in a video address on Sunday that "the promise of Zionism" would be realized in just a few months, when Israel extends its sovereignty to the Jordan Valley and parts of Judea and Samaria under the aegis of the U.S. "Peace to Prosperity" plan.

In a video message to the European Coalition for Israel, an evangelical Christian group, marking the 100th anniversary of the San Remo Resolution, in which the world powers recognized the national rights of the Jewish people in the Land of Israel, Netanyahu said that soon Israel and its supporters would be celebrating "another historic moment in the history of Zionism."

2. Woman, 62, Stabbed by Terrorist in Kfar Saba on Memorial Day, Suspect Neutralized - Jewish Press

A woman, 62 sustained moderate to severe injuries Tuesday afternoon from a stabbing near the G mall in Kfar Saba. The woman was standing at a bus stop and was stabbed several times by the Arab, 19, who arrived on the scene, and then chased after her as she tried to escape. A civilian who drove by got out of his vehicle and shot the Arab twice with his firearm.

An MDA team arrived at the scene, adjacent to Weizman and Galgalay Haplada Streets in Kfar Saba, found the injured woman lying on the pavement and gave her medical treatment. She was then evacuated to Meir Hospital in the city, fully conscious and suffering from stab wounds.

4. Arab Israelis partner with police, IDF to avert Ramadan coronavirus surge - Times of Israel

JTA - On April 24, the first day of Ramadan, the Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem was virtually empty. A handful of masked worshipers kneeling on prayer rugs, distanced several feet apart from one another, listened to an imam who stood atop an 18-foot wooden pulpit.

"We ask God to have mercy on us and all of humanity and to save us from this lethal pandemic," the imam said. The ban on mass communal prayer in Israel and the Palestinian territories is among the sobering restrictions accompanying Islam's holiest month, during which Muslims fast during daylight hours and typically pray, feast and socialize with extended family at night. Israel's emergency coronavirus measures have closed mosques, shuttered shops and implemented nighttime curfews in many Muslim-majority cities.

5. Bennett: We've moved from blocking Iran in Syria to pushing them out - World Israel News

Israeli Defense Minister Naftali Bennett said Tuesday that Israel has blocked Iran's military buildup in Syria and was preparing to clear the Iranians out, Maariv reported.

"We have moved from curbing Iran's entrenchment in Syria to pushing it out of there and we will not stop," Bennett said. "We will not allow more strategic threats to grow just across our borders without taking action."

Bennett's comments came the day after Syrian news agencies reported on an alleged Israeli air strike on an ammunition dump near the Syrian capital of Damascus.

Israel has routinely communicated that Iranian troops operating near its borders is a red line that it will not tolerate. To that end, Israel has launched a series of airstrikes mainly targeting Iranian and Hezbollah forces in Syria. It rarely confirms the attacks and did not comment on Monday's airstrike.

1. 'Food supply chain is breaking,' Tyson Foods chairman says as processing plants continue to close-Fox News

The chairman of Tyson Foods has issued a stark warning to Americans following the shuttering of multiple meat processing plants across the country: "The food supply chain is breaking."

In an open letter published as a full-page ad in Sunday's New York Times, Washington Post and Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, John H. Tyson outlined Tyson Foods' response to the ongoing coronavirus health crisis, but hinted that further closures - not only of Tyson Foods facilities, but competitors' facilities as well - would put stress on the nation's food supply.

In recent weeks, Tyson Foods has been forced to temporarily pause operations at a number of plants following outbreaks of COVID-19, or because of staffing shortages caused by the pandemic.

2. Trump to sign order compelling meat plants to stay open during pandemic-The Hill

President Trump plans to sign an executive order Tuesday that would use the Defense Production Act to compel meat processing plants to stay open by designating them as critical infrastructure, according to a senior administration official.

The White House plans to work with the Labor Department to "provide safety standards and guidance for workers to make sure they are kept safe and not put in harm's way as they serve the public," the official said.

The White House decided to issue the order, the details of which were first reported by Bloomberg News, following estimates that meat production capacity nationwide could be reduced by as much as 80 percent.

3. IRS employees reopening sites return to 'tens of millions' of pieces of unopened mail-Federal News Network

The IRS on Monday had 10,000 employees return to their offices, according to the National Treasury Employees Union and an all-hands email the agency's human capital office sent last Friday afternoon.

The House Ways and Means Committee, which obtained and circulated the email, said the agency brought back certain employees to answer phones, process mail and other "mission-critical work" they can't complete while teleworking.

The email, sent by IRS Human Capital Officer Robin Bailey and Deputy Human Capital Officer Kevin McIver, also requires recalled employees to report to work with their own protective gear.

- Father God, there are many people in this nation who would love to receive this same order to return to work, even providing their own PPE. However, there's not enough available yet. Please protect everyone who may have faulty PPE and allow the people to get over and through this virus quickly and easily. In Jesus name.

5. REPORT: The Secret Group of Scientists and Billionaires Pushing a Manhattan Project for Covid-19-DML News

A dozen of America's top scientists and a collection of billionaires and industry titans say they have the answer to the coronavirus pandemic, and they found a backdoor to deliver their plan to the White House.

These scientists and their backers describe their work as a lockdown-era Manhattan Project, a nod to the World War II group of scientists who helped develop the atomic bomb. This time around, the scientists are marshaling brains and money to distill unorthodox ideas gleaned from around the globe.

The report states that the group has compiled a confidential 17-page report that calls for a number of unorthodox methods against the virus, which has been delivered to Vice President Mike Pence and Trump cabinet members.

6. Biden Peddles Politico's False Report About Trump Owing Millions To Bank Of China-Daily Caller

Former Vice President Joe Biden pushed fake news from a bungled Politico report claiming President Donald Trump "owes" millions of dollars to the Bank of China during an interview with CBS4 Monday evening.

The publication's Friday article first suggested Trump currently "owes" millions of dollars to the Bank of China and that "the loan is due soon." Politico quietly edited its story after it was determined that Trump apparently did not currently owe the Bank of China millions of dollars.

The publication updated the article and later added a "correction" Monday evening. Politico has not retracted its story. Despite the original report appearing to be fake news, Biden ran with it during Monday's interview.

-Lord God, have mercy! We are so weary of outright lies, half-truths, twisted content, and utter nonsense from many politicians and every type of media. We want the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. Lord, bring Biden to repentance while there is still time. Also, Lord, it seems obvious that Biden's cognitive health is declining. May he receive appropriate care, and may his backers stop using him for their treacherous purposes.

-For you are the children of your father the devil and you love to do the evil things he does. He was a murderer from the beginning and a hater of truth-there is not an iota of truth in him. When he lies, it is perfectly normal; for he is the father of liars. [John 8:44]

7. Judge rejects request to suspend immigration court hearings amid coronavirus outbreak-The hill

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday rejected a request to suspend immigration court proceedings amid the coronavirus pandemic.

U.S. District Judge Carl Nichols, a Trump appointee, said steps have been taken to mitigate public health concerns around continued immigration hearings, and that the federal judiciary was "not well positioned to second-guess those health and safety determinations."

"The government has already changed its policies to attempt to minimize any harm to Plaintiffs and others in the immigration system and is making daily and case-by-case determinations about health and safety issues," Nichols wrote in a 27-page opinion.

-We praise You, Father, that Judge Nichols was able to see through the manipulative workings of the three immigration advocacy groups. May truth be told and justice be done.

8. Barr tells federal prosecutors to 'be on the lookout' for overly restrictive shutdown orders-Fox News

Attorney General Bill Barr has instructed federal prosecutors to "be on the lookout" for overly restrictive state and local shutdown orders that may infringe on people's constitutional rights.

In a memo issued Monday, Barr recognized that while some restrictions are necessary and proper for combating the coronavirus pandemic, others could go too far. "If a state or local ordinance crosses the line from an appropriate exercise of authority to stop the spread of COVID-19 into an overbearing infringement of constitutional and statutory protections, the Department of Justice may have an obligation to address that overreach in federal court," Barr said.

- Father, we thank You that we have a watchdog in this Attorney General who is looking out for our rights even as we go through this trying time in our country. Lord, give him the wisdom to put into words the statements that will put on notice some of the chief executives of states, counties, and cities who have overstepped their proper authority. Lord, deliver us from tyranny.

9. CBO says coronavirus debt to exceed World War II record-Washington Examiner

The Congressional Budget Office now expects that the coronavirus will push the federal debt to the highest level in history, exceeding the previous record set during World War II.

Taking into account the trillions of dollars in new spending and the economic downturn caused by the coronavirus and related shutdowns, CBO expects the United States to add $5.8 trillion to the debt in the next two years, bringing the debt to 108% of GDP by the end of 2021.

That would break the previous record of 106% set in 1946, which was the debt that was acquired as the U.S. fought World War II.

- Father, we are concerned about this, but we know You have all the provision that our country needs at a time like this. We pray our leading officials will learn to look to You for wisdom that is from above to solve this situation and that we will be blessed with Your grace and favor.

"But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere." (James 3:17)

10. Dossier Author Christopher Steele Had Previously Undisclosed Meetings With Lawyers For DNC, Clinton Campaign-Daily Caller

Lawyer representing the DNC and Clinton campaign provided Christopher Steele with information in 2016 regarding an alleged secret communications channel between the Trump Organization and a Russian bank, the former spy told a British court last month.

That now-debunked tip, from Perkins Coie lawyer Michael Sussmann, set off a chain of events that led to Steele publishing a Sept. 14, 2016 memo accusing the founders of the bank, Alfa Bank, of having "illicit" ties to Vladimir Putin, according to a court transcript obtained by the Daily Caller News Foundation.

A week after Steele wrote that memo, he had another meeting with Sussmann's colleague, Marc Elias, according to the transcript.

Christopher Steele shed new light on his work for the Clinton campaign and DNC, revealing in testimony last month that he met with two lawyers for the Democrats as part of his investigation into Donald Trump.

Shedding light on a dark, dark agenda

Democratic Presidential Candidate Joe Biden held a You Tube virtual town hall on the impact of COVID-19 on women. The town hall revealed several dark, dark agendas of Biden and his party that are worth mentioning. Throughout the town hall, the National Domestic Violence Hotline number was displayed on the screen. In addition, failed Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton made an appearance endorsing Biden and noting that COVID-19 shows universal health care is badly needed for women. She said "that this would be a terrible crisis to waste." Think about the optics of this: National Domestic Violence Hotline, Hillary Clinton endorsement, socialist healthcare, terrible crisis to waste.

The National Domestic Violence Hotline is aimed at assisting those who are impacted or threatened by domestic violence and sexual assault. Statistics indicate that many women are at higher risk during the COVID-19 lockdown. Biden is under attack the past two weeks for allegedly sexually assaulting his Senate staffer in 1993. He has denied the allegation. Having Clinton on his town hall is curious to say the least. Clinton is known for persecuting the many women who claimed her ex-president husband sexually assaulted them, while at the same time adopting the "believe them" theme when a Republican is accused of the same. These people say they are against domestic violence and sexual assault, yet infer women are liars if Democrats are accused.

Clinton also used the occasion to endorse Biden for President. She said, "I want to add my voice to the many who have endorsed you to be our president. I am thrilled to be part of your campaign. To not only endorse you but to help highlight a lot of the issues that are at stake during this presidential election." One issue that is highlighted is the charade of being against sexual assault for everyone except them. Another issue is that of socialist healthcare. Clinton said universal health care is needed as shown by the pandemic, concluding, "So I can only say, "Amen," to everything you're saying, but also to, again, enlist people that this would be a terrible crisis to waste, as the old saying goes. We've learned a lot about what our absolute frailties are in our country when it comes to health justice and economic justice."

Two things here: First, countries with universal/socialist healthcare, like Italy, fared far worse during the COVID-19 crisis. Second, the communist idea of not allowing a crisis to go to waste is hard-wired among Democratic leadership: In March, House Majority Whip James Clyburn (D-SC) also said, "This is a tremendous opportunity to restructure things to fit our vision." They use the tragedies of others to advance a dark agenda, while saying that they are advocates of the little guy. Similar to Jeremiah 6:13-15, "Because from the least of them even to the greatest of them, Everyone is given to greed . . . Everyone deals falsely. They have also healed the hurt of My people slightly, Saying, 'Peace, peace!' When there is no peace. Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? No! They were not at all ashamed." So sadly true.

"We can't wait months. We must protect the vulnerable and mitigate without destroying the economy. Standing up to this virus can't be the job of essential workers only. We've been strong, but we're tired, and we need the rest of you to help us. By getting back to work," writes Bronx emergency physician Daniel G. Murphy for the New York Post. (Read more)

3. How Exactly Is The Trump Administration Addressing Food Shortage Concerns During Coronavirus Pandemic? - Daily Caller

President Trump signed a new executive order last night to "address questions in the food supply chain that have arisen during the coronavirus pandemic." The order, leveraging the Defense Production Act, treats meat processing plants as part of our critical infrastructure.

The order leverages the Defense Production Act to compel meat processing plants to remain open despite discussions within the industry to close roughly 80 percent of all facilities. The action comes just days after Tyson Foods chairman John Tyson issued a full-page ad in the New York Times warning that the food supply chain is "breaking." (Read more)

4. Paula White and Jentezen Franklin: Trump's spiritual advisers are feeding America during pandemic - bizpacreview.com

Coronavirus continues its devastating impact on the world, changing everything about how we live. Millions of Americans now work from home for the first time in their careers. Unfortunately over 26 million have lost their jobs temporarily or even permanently. Millions who just weeks ago lived independent and happy lives enjoying the strongest economy our country has ever seen now find themselves facing deeply uncertain futures. Their homes, their jobs, even their next meals are now in doubt through no fault of their own.

Churches have also had to change how they conduct worship services. Prior to the pandemic, most churches already broadcast their services online. The pandemic has forced many churches to worship exclusively online, while others opt to conduct drive-in services as well.

Pastor Paula White-Cain's City of Destiny in Apopka, FL uses its services to offer hope and celebrate Christ's love and to compassionately serve Americans struggling to get by in the face of the coronavirus crisis.

With millions of Americans now depending on government unemployment and stimulus payments, which only go so far, churches like City of Destiny are stepping in to help. Pastor White-Cain held a drive-in service on Easter, during which the church distributed tons of food to hundreds of families struggling with the economic impacts of the coronavirus shutdown. Hundreds of cars honked their amens to Pastor Paula during the service. As the Easter service ended over 30,000 pounds of food were distributed to 711 families, representing 2,385 family members.

. . . Senior Pastor Jentezen Franklin is also extending Christ's compassion to struggling families. His church, Free Chapel in Gainesville, GA is stepping up to help the many food needs of on-the-job medical professionals and first responders during the pandemic. Pastor Jentezen Franklin made headlines when the president announced he would attend Free Chapel's Easter service online drawing over one million viewers. But away from the media stories, Free Chapel is leading several initiatives and food drives to those helping fight the virus, and who have been put out of work by the shutdowns. (Read more)

5. Ivanka Trump leads coronavirus call with New Jersey officials - New York Post

Ivanka Trump led a coronavirus response call with about a dozen New Jersey officials Tuesday, sources tell The Post. The White House adviser and first daughter joined a video conference to discuss the situation in the nation's second-worst-hit state.

New Jersey has almost 114,000 COVID-19 cases and more than 6,400 deaths.

State Health Commissioner Judy Persichilli briefed participants on New Jersey's response, and Ivanka Trump pledged federal support, according to a source.

A source familiar with Ivanka Trump's donation said her family donated 800 meals to show appreciation for health care workers. The source confirmed the donation after the hospital informed staff that she was the donor. The source said Ivanka Trump's children wrote notes to thank the front-line workers.

The Tuesday call was organized through the New Jersey Regional Operations and Intelligence Center. (Read more)

- Lord God, we thank You that these members of the Trump administration are taking an active role in helping those in need during this health crisis. We speak Your blessings upon each one, in return. In Your name, amen.

Updates: Global Day of Repentance

Updates: Global Day of Repentance

The National Day of Repentance has joined with the leaders in Malawi to call forth a Global Day of Repentance for people, throughout the world. Malawi has been holding a monthly day of repentance for years.  As a result, that nation has been almost totally untouched by Covid-19. It's people have prospered under the blessings of the Lord because of their national heart, expressed in unison, before the King of Heaven.

To fully understand the scope of this initiative for the world, please go to the website: global repent.com There you will be able to register your nation and your heart to join with others throughout the globe.

What this chosen day is calling for is: On Friday, May 1st, 24 hours of repentance to begin at 12:00 noon, Jerusalem time 5:00 AM USA Eastern time (calculate the time in your own zone). At the website, you will see 24, personal and national sins listed, separately or in a group, to help guide you on this journey.

You are invited to engage as the Lord leads during this 24-hour period. Some may be in a total fast, or a partial one, others will not be able to do that. Some will follow the list of sins, and others may be led to repent of other infractions against the Lord. Some may participate for the full 24 hours, while others may compress the list to be covered in only a few hours.

Whatever the Lord leads, PLEASE intentionally, and with deep commitment, set aside this Friday to seek the face of the Lord. Whether on your face or on your knees -- whether sitting in a chair or walking the floor -- SEEK HIM with a repentant heart, so that a great turning/awakening might arise in our nations. We desperately need a great healing and a great cleansing of our nations. That begins with us. (Published by Insight for Intercessors; Tuesday, April 28, 2020)

As prayer leaders in various nations have recognised a connection between Malawi's commitment to repentance and its low Covid-19 infection rate, they have asked prayer leaders in Malawi to allow them to join them in decreeing a day of global repentance for national and personal sins, say the organisers of the first Global Day of Repentance.

The event, comprising a 24-hour world-wide repentance programme, will be launched on May 1, starting at 12pm (Jerusalem time). Each of the 24 hours will represent a personal or national sin and participants will prayerfully decide which hour or hours to spend confessing and repenting of specific sins.

According to Dr Edward Mikwamba coordinator for National Repentance Week Malawi - an initiative that has been running for 10 years . . . the vision is for 24 nations to each repent for one sin listed in the 24-hour rotation, with Malawi taking the first hour.

After the first Global Day of Repentance the organisers plan to hold regular repentance days targeting different nations.

What People Are Saying About . . .

What People Are Saying About . . .

The Global Day of Repentance

Editor's note: By now, we have received literally hundreds of messages from many who are registering to say YES -- that they will participate in the Global Day of Repentance this Friday. We wish we could print ALL of your comments, but below please do find a few samples of what people are now saying about the Global Day of Repentance!

Although we have purposely left off naming ANY NAMES when we designed our website, so that only HIS NAME would be glorified, we do want to quietly thank the intercessor who first "saw" the need to share the glorious testimony of the Malawi miracle with others; and then to take the call to repentance to the GLOBAL level, that we all might stand in alignment with "what God hath wrought" in that tiny nation.

That inspiration was birthed less than two weeks ago, and all else has now been the SUDDENLY move of God, for He wants all of "My people" to repent!

Hence, this movement has now taken off like "grass roots FIRE" and continues to gain momentum as we write this note to you.

In closing, we also want to honor Pastor Jeff Daly, the founder of the National Day of Repentance, because, when our "hidden intercessor" first heard from our Lord to begin this work, she sought Jeff for guidance and counsel. The rest is now history.

Praise God from whom all blessings flow,
Praise Him all creatures here below,
Praise Him above ye Heavenly Host,
Praise Father, son and Holy Ghost!
Amen!

1. From UK: "I am so pleased to be called to repentance on this day. Thank you Malawi friend leading this initiative. May God hear and forgive from heaven." -- Sally P.

2. From AUSTRALIA: "I'm a prayer warrior with Toowoomba Prayer Intercessors & I would like to join to be a part of the Global Repentance. I'm an Aboriginal First Nations person of Australia & I have been standing in the gap for my Aboriginal People of this nation for many many years. I love God with all of my heart & have been saved for 40+ years." -- Noeleen Dempseynd

3. From AUSTRALIA: "Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Below is a call to join in a day of Global repentance this Friday 1 May 2020, issued by Pastor Jeff Daly the leader of the National Day of Repentance in the USA. Please seek the Lord as to whether He is calling you to participate in this of Global Day of Repentance.

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

"His compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is Thy faithfulness." (Lamentations 3:22-23)

Lyrics

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father;
There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
Thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not;
As Thou hast been, Thou forever will be.

Refrain

Great is Thy faithfulness!
Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see.
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided;
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

Summer and winter and springtime and harvest,
Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
Join with all nature in manifold witness
To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

Refrain

Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth
Thine own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

Words: Thomas O. Chisholm, 1923.
Melody: William M. Runyan, 1923

About the Hymn:

According to Chisholm, there were no special circumstances which caused its writing-just his experience and Bible truth. The hymn first appeared in Songs of Salvation and Service, 1923, compiled by William Runyan. It is the unofficial "school hymn" of Moody Bible Institute, Chicago, Illinois, with which Runyan was associated for a number of years.

Runyan wrote the music specifically for these words: "This particular poem held such an appeal that I prayed most earnestly that my tune might carry its message in a worthy way, and the subsequent history of its use indicates that God answered prayer."

Signs and Wonders

Signs and Wonders

After the Dinosaur-Killing Impact, Soot Played a Remarkable Role in Extinction

The interstellar object (alternatively a comet or an asteroid) that killed the dinosaurs when it slammed into Earth didn't work alone. Researchers have shown previously that its after-effects, such as tidal waves and earthquakes, played an important role in the mass extinctions of three-fourths of plant and animal life. Now, new research suggests that one of the most important factors was the soot-rich smoke from fires sparked by the collision.

Clay Tabor, a geoscientist at the University of Connecticut, and his colleagues studied soot, sulfates and dust to see how each type of particle may have contributed to the cataclysm. They found that while all three particles blocked heat from the sun, soot played a dominant role. The results were published earlier this year in the journal Geophysical Research Letters.

When the impactor plowed into the Earth and created the Chicxulub crater in Mexico, it vaporized the crust and created a planet-wide plume of debris that emitted radiation at a rate about 20 times stronger than the sun. It ignited plants and animals in its path. Later, lightning from impact-generated storms ignited more fires, maintaining an atmosphere rich in soot.

"Soot is very good at absorbing sunlight," Tabor says. "As soot gets into the stratosphere, some of it heats the atmosphere and self-lofts higher, increasing its atmospheric residence time."

'Thank You, Jesus': Pa. Woman Who Spent 11 Days on Ventilator Credits God, Prayer for Recovery From COVID

UNIONTOWN, Pa. - A Pennsylvania woman is crediting God and the prayers of her family and friends for pulling her through a battle with the novel coronavirus as it was thought that she might not survive.

Lisa Fields, a custodian at Hutchinson Elementary School in Uniontown, told local television station WTAE that she spent 11 days on a ventilator in the intensive care unit (ICU) at Uniontown Hospital.

"They were preparing my family for me not to come out of the ICU. It was that bad," she explained.

Fields doesn't remember much about the battle, except for walking in the hospital entrance and later waking up.

About CHPP

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]

Reading the Bible Together

WELCOME TO OUR BIBLE READATHON!

"For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD as the waters cover the sea." (Habakkuk 2:14)

> > > Reading the Word of God over our nation, six nights per week!! ALL NIGHT LONG!

We are now reading the Word of God every night (except on Sunday mornings) from midnight to 6:00 a.m. EDT. We are reading through the whole Word, from Genesis to Revelation, and beginning again in Genesis when finished. [As of this writing, over the past three years, we have now "read through" the entire Word of God sixty-five times, nonstop. Hallelujah!]

Our numbers of readers continues to grow over time. All are welcome to join, as we use "the weapons of OUR warfare" to confront our enemy and BRING HIM DOWN through the LOVE of our Messiah and, by faith, setting captives free!

Our conference number is: 712-432-0075. The access code is: 206425#.

Please call at any time from midnight to 6:00 a.m. EST!
EVERYONE IS WELCOME TO JOIN OUR "WARFARE IN THE NIGHT", USING THE WEAPON OF HIS WARFARE - THE WORD OF GOD!

"For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword, and piercing as far as the division of soul and spirit, of both joints and marrow, and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12)

> > > A footnote: 2020 has been declared "the Year of the Bible."

Hallelujah!!

Please join us as, together, we "soak the very atmosphere of our nation" in the WORD OF GOD!

In closing, let us decree together that . . .

"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." (Psalm 119:105)

AMEN!!

Reminder!

Our conference number is: 712-432-0075.
