"Show Us the Way to Zion" -

Finding a Door of Hope

Last night's teaching by Rabbi Eddie Chumney

Dear Friends,

In these increasingly chaotic times, it is mandatory that we each "dig deep" into the Scriptures to hear what our Lord is speaking in this hour.

On last night's call, Rabbi Eddie Chumney has done exactly that.

To view a summary of this teaching, please go here.

(Posted on Bridge Connector Ministries website.)

To hear the actual recording of last night's call with Rabbi Eddie Chumney, please go here.

As we continue in repentance for our personal and national sins, Abba WILL hear from heaven, forgive our' sin, and (still) heal our land.

Blessings to all,

Focus on Israel

1. Iran-linked sites around Damascus said hit in Israeli strike - Times of Israel

Military sites linked to Syrian regime forces and Iranian militias were targeted Monday in Israeli strikes near Damascus, according to a monitoring group.

The London-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said the aerial bombardment caused several explosions around Damascus.

"At least six Israeli missiles hit several positions belonging to regime forces and pro-Iran militias south of Damascus," Observatory head Rami Abdul Rahman told AFP.

"Air defenses did not intercept a single target," he said, adding it was unknown if there were casualties and the extent of damage remained unclear.

2. Israel to remain closed to foreign visitors until at least September - Times of Israel

Restrictions preventing foreign visitors from entering the country due to the coronavirus pandemic will be extended until the the beginning of September, the Israel Airports Authority announced Monday.

The ban will continue until September 1 due to the recent surge in virus infections in Israel, the IAA said.

Recent weeks have seen daily infections climb consistently to nearly 2,000, although on Monday the Health Ministry reported a drop to 1,139 cases in the previous 24 hours. The death toll increased by six overnight Sunday and Monday morning, to 415.

The ongoing ban allows only returning Israeli citizens or those who obtain special permission from the Population Immigration and Border Authority to enter the country. All those who do arrive are required to self-quarantine for two weeks.

3. Government said to weigh weeknight lockdowns as cases pass 50,000 - Times of Israel

Senior government officials on Sunday were reportedly weighing imposing weeknight lockdowns in addition to the ones planned for weekends, amid concerns that young Israelis will resort to gathering at public parks and squares, as a result of the shuttering of restaurants, bars and cafes.

The news came as Israel's case count passed 50,000, standing at 50,289 Sunday night, with 28,205 of them active, and serious cases reached 252, of which 70 were on ventilators. The Health Ministry said 1,438 had been diagnosed in the past 24 hours.

Kan news reported that nightly lockdowns were being considered for at least the remainder of summer vacation, during which larger amounts of young people are prone to go out. Without such an order, some government officials are concerned that Israelis will begin hosting house parties which are harder for police to enforce against, the report said.

4. Education Minister guarantees next school year will start on schedule - Jerusalem Post

Education Minister Yoav Galant told N12 on Monday evening that the next school year will start on schedule.

In light of the uncertainty surrounding the reopening of schools because of the coronavirus pandemic, Galant discussed the challenges that need to be addressed, while being very clear when asked about the next school year."I want to turn to all Israeli citizens and say that the next school year will begin on September 1st, period," adding that he and Finance Minister Israel katz had reached certain agreements recently.

5. Arab rioters attack police in Jaffa - Israel National News

Hundreds of Arab rioters clashed with police Sunday evening in Jaffa, part of the greater municipality of Tel Aviv-Jaffa, in protest of plans to clear a Muslim cemetery for a construction plan to move forward.

Rioters hurled rocks at police officers and set dumpsters on fire, while officers responded by firing smoke and shock grenades into the crowd to disperse the rioters.

A police spokesperson said officers had closed several streets to traffic because of the ongoing riots.

The City of Tel Aviv has pushed forward with plans to build a shelter for local homeless people on a plot of land used ninety years ago as a Muslim cemetery.

6. Abbas: We Are Ready to Return to the Negotiation Table - BFP

Monday, 13 July 2020 | Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas told Russian President Vladimir Putin last week that the Palestinians are prepared to resuscitate Israeli-Palestinian peace talks to hash out a plan that will bring more than seven decades of bloodshed to a harmonious close.

According to the Palestinian news agency Wafa, Abbas informed Putin of his decision during a telephone discussion on Wednesday. Wafa and perhaps even Abbas himself seemed rather impressed with the magnanimous concession of returning to the negotiation table alongside their Jewish neighbors. The reality is, however, somewhat different.

Abbas demands that the prospective peace talks be based on "international legitimacy" and held under the auspices of the Quartet on the Middle East-a foursome comprising the US, Russia, the United Nations and the European Union, tasked with mediating peace between Israel and the Palestinians-with international input, Wafa reported.

The bottom line? The PA rejects the territorial exchanges offered in US President Donald Trump's Peace to Prosperity plan that paves the way for Israel to apply sovereignty to existing Jewish communities amounting to 30% of Judea and Samaria and the Jordan Valley existing alongside a demilitarized Palestinian state on the remaining 70% of the territory.

Instead, the PA wants to push a path to the peace they want in line with their agenda and based on their rules.

. . . This was the first time the Palestinians offered a formal response to President Trump's peace plan, which was released in January. (Read more)

- Beseech the Lord that the true motivations behind the recent Palestinian statements be made clear. Pray that the negotiation table is closed to them until they come with an honest agenda that accepts the presence of Israel as a Jewish state and is based on a sincere desire for peace. Scripture

Do not take me away with the wicked and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but evil is in their hearts. Give them according to their deeds. (Psalm 28:3-4a)

9. Prayer Points over the Peace Talks - IFi

Reunification: The extension of Israeli law over 30% of Judea, Samaria, and the Jordan Valley that was part of the Trump peace plan unveiled in January has hit a snag and it does not look like it will move forward at this time. The snag is partly in Israel as COVID-19 numbers soar and government focuses on that. In addition, Gantz and his Blue & White party does not want to do this until the entire world agrees. And in the White House reportedly Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner has placed unreasonable demands on Israel and Netanyahu that were not part of the original plan, before America will support this move. (Read more)

- Remind Netanyahu of how he said this would happen as soon as he became prime minister again and convince him to go ahead with this - America or not (Matt. 5:37).

- Lord Yeshua, extend Your sovereignty over Bibi and lead him in Your direction (Psa. 32:8).

- Give him a forehead of flint to do what is right in Your sight and to not fear man (Ezek. 3:8-9).

- Clear out all roadblocks in front of the reunification of Your land with Your people (Deut. 26:15).

- Wake up American Christian Zionists to perceive how dangerous these extra conditions on Israel are to that nation - especially in the light of the November Presidential elections (Lev. 25:23; Num. 24:9).

- Lord God, deal with Jared Kushner who as an Orthodox Jew has no excuse for hindering this.

1. New Jersey federal judge's son killed, husband shot at home - Fox News

A gunman wearing a FedEx driver's uniform on Sunday killed the son and wounded the husband of a federal judge linked to high-profile cases involving Jeffrey Epstein, a "Real Housewives of New Jersey" couple and gangs, in a shocking murder now being probed by the FBI.

The shooting occurred at the North Brunswick, N.J., home of Judge Esther Salas, a source told The Associated Press. The AP report, citing the state's chief district judge, said the son, 20, was killed. NJ.com reported that the shooting occurred at about 5 p.m.

"The FBI is investigating a shooting at the home of Judge Salas. We are working with our local and state partners," Doreen Holder, the public information officer for the bureau's Newark office, told Fox News.

U.S. Marshals and state and local authorities are also investigating. (Read more)

- Father, this is an obvious "hit," making it a particularly deadly situation. We ask that the perpetrator and all who were behind him be found quickly and brought to justice.

"Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand it completely." (Proverbs 28:5)

2. Rep. Collins: Portland mayor 'probably needs to step down' amid violence in city - Fox News

One day after Portland police said protesters broke into the Portland Police Association building, set it on fire and started dumpster fires in the city as demonstrations over the death of George Floyd intensified for another night, a Georgia congressman called out the city's mayor.

"The mayor of Portland probably needs to step down because he is definitely not being a mayor, he's just being a social commentator," Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., told "Fox & Friends Weekend" on Sunday, reacting to the violence in the city.

The Trump administration has enlisted federal agents, including the U.S. Marshals Special Operations Group, to protect federal property.

The unrest had frustrated Mayor Ted Wheeler and other local authorities, who had said a small group of violent activists were drowning out the message of peaceful protesters. Wheeler also said the federal presence in Portland is now exacerbating the situation and has said he wants them to leave.

On Friday Wheeler said, "Keep your troops in your own buildings, or have them leave our city." (Read more)

- Father, Portland has become a center of total chaos as anarchist groups are being allowed to create violence, set fires, and injure police. We ask Your mercy over that city and the residents who just want to live normal lives.

"In wrath, remember mercy." (Habakkuk 3:2d)

3. In historic move, Asheville approves reparations for Black residents - Asheville Citizen Times

In an extraordinary move, the City Council has apologized for the city's historic role in slavery, discrimination and denial of basic liberties to Black residents and voted to provide reparations to them and their descendants.

The 7-0 vote came the night of July 14.

"Hundreds of years of black blood spilled that basically fills the cup we drink from today," said Councilman Keith Young, one of two African American members of the body and the measure's chief proponent.

"It is simply not enough to remove statues. Black people in this country are dealing with issues that are systemic in nature," Young said.

The unanimously passed resolution does not mandate direct payments. Instead it will make investments in areas where Black residents face disparities.

"The resulting budgetary and programmatic priorities may include but not be limited to increasing minority home ownership and access to other affordable housing, increasing minority business ownership and career opportunities, strategies to grow equity and generational wealth, closing the gaps in health care, education, employment and pay, neighborhood safety and fairness within criminal justice," the resolution reads. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for a move of Your Spirit over all of America, showing them the truth. May Your love begin to flow over all of these issues with evey race. Let not one be above the other, but let Your equality be manifest.

"For God shows no partiality." (Romans 2:11)

4. Antonio Sabato Jr. announces he's starting a 'conservative movie studio': 'No more blacklisting' - Fox News

Antonio Sabato Jr. recently announced that he's starting a new business endeavor.

The 48-year-old actor revealed on Thursday on Twitter that he's developing a "conservative movie studio for all patriots" and plans on taking on projects that other Hollywood studios "would never" do. "We are putting together a plan to create a conservative movie studio for all patriots to do projects that Hollywood would never do. No more blacklisting and no more injustice from the socialist's elites," he wrote.

Sabato declared his support of President Donald Trump at the 2016 Republican National Convention and since then has said he's been blacklisted in Tinseltown and lost out on a number of projects.

"I was the first celebrity to come out and talk about the president, and he had my vote from day one," Sabato explained to Variety in March. "I was the first one to say he was going to win. My integrity is intact. What I believe in is still intact. What doesn't break you makes you stronger - that's what they say. So I'm stronger than ever, and I didn't have to lie about who I am." (Read more)

- Lord, we praise You for this idea that would surely help Your people not have to see the kind of vile things that are prevalent in Hollywood. We ask Your blessing on Mr. Sabato as he moves ahead with his plan.

"He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands, lest they hold a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking on evil, he will dwell on the heights; his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be given him; his water will be sure. Your eyes will behold the king in his beauty; they will see a land that stretches afar." (Isaiah 33:15-17)

5. As 'cancel culture' activism peaks, big tech and its algorithms quietly fuel the flames - Fox News

By now, we've all heard of "cancel culture" -- a form of social media-fueled activism condemned by President Trump but supported in some ways by activists as a tool for achieving social change.

In recent weeks, everything from Hollywood stars, Confederate statues and canned beans have been in the crosshairs. But while much of the outrage has been driven by legitimate groups, experts say modern technology makes it easier than ever to destroy companies or ruin careers.

Algorithms developed by big tech companies have become the gasoline on the flames, bringing the complaints of a few to the attention of millions, often with the help of media coverage.

Susan Campbell, a lecturer in the Communication, Film and Media Studies Department at the University of New Haven, says savvy social media users can easily create a firestorm with memes and "pithy hashtags." (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that You will stop the destruction from these social media methods. We cancel the cancel culture now in the Name of Jesus and by the power of His Shed Blood!

"There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers." (Proverbs 6: 16-19)

6. Secretary of State Pompeo Slams 1619 Project Examining Slavery: 'A Slander on Our Great People' - Mediaite

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo slammed the New York Times' 1619 Project in a speech at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia Thursday afternoon. During his address, he said the project must make the Chinese Communist Party "gleeful" and called it a "slander on our great people."

The 1619 Project, an ongoing re-examination of US history around slavery, was first released in August 2019. While some historians have offered criticism about the project, Nikole Hannah-Jones, one of its co-creators, won a Pulitzer Prize for commentary this year for the extensive essay. The 1619 Project is currently being adapted for film and TV with Oprah Winfrey on board.

"They want you to believe the Marxist ideology that America is only the oppressors and the oppressed," Pompeo said on Thursday, before accusing the Times of engaging in Marxist propaganda. "The Chinese Communist Party must be gleeful when they see the New York Times spout their ideology."

"The rioters pulling down statues thus see nothing wrong with desecrating monuments to those who fought for unalienable rights - from our founding to the present day," Pompeo said. "This is a dark vision of America's birth. I reject it. It is a disturbed reading of history. It is a slander on our great people. Nothing could be further from the truth!" (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that this Communist Chinese agenda will become so visible to all. We repent as Your people for allowing the lies to be spread, the statues to be toppled, and our history to be revised. We ask Your forgiveness and mercy.

- "And whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone, so that your Father also who is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses."
(Mark 11:25)

7. New initiative urges all Christians to vote in November; pandemic could impact turnout - Christian Post

In 2016, the year President Donald Trump was first elected, white evangelical Christians spoke powerfully in his favor with their votes and are on track to deliver again in November based on polling data. A significant portion of practicing Christians did not vote that year, however, and a new bipartisan initiative called Our Church Votes is hoping to activate them all for Jesus in 2020.

"We are trying to reach every church. We are trying to call every church in America that follows Christ, that believes the Bible is true. We're asking each and every church to engage their congregation and to hold at least one voter registration drive before the elections to encourage and equip the attendees, the members of their church, to be a part of this process," Jason Yates, CEO of My Faith Votes, told The Christian Post in an interview Wednesday.

Our Church Votes, which is an initiative of My Faith Votes, a non-partisan movement that encourages Christians in America to vote in every election, says in 2016, more than 25 million Christians chose not to vote. By focusing on their faith in 2020, Yates wants all these inactive Christians, along with active ones, to exercise their right to vote with the principles of Jesus in mind.

The number of inactive Christians, according to Yates, was arrived at through internal research and includes followers of Christ who practice independent or organized religion.

"We recognize that Christians, God gives us passions and pursuits that may lead people one way or the other but what we are calling people to do is to vote not right/left, donkey, elephant, but the Lamb and to think about what Jesus' principles are," Yates said. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that all of Your people would have faith and see that the alternative to not voting could be dire. Give visions, dreams, and speak directly to every Christian - please do not let fear or personality issues with the President stop them from voting for righteousness.

"But even if you should suffer for righteousness' sake, you will be blessed. Have no fear of them, nor be troubled" (1 Peter 3:14)

8. House Democrats ask watchdogs to probe federal crackdown on protests - The Hill

Three House Democratic chairs are calling for government watchdogs in the Trump administration to investigate the use of federal force against recent protests over police brutality and racial inequality.

The leaders wrote a letter to Justice Department Inspector General Michael Horowitz and Homeland Security Department Inspector General Joseph V. Cuffari on Sunday calling for a probe into the administration's use of federal law enforcement officials in several cities amid the protests, on the heels of recent reports of federal law enforcement officials using unmarked vehicles to detain protesters in Portland, Ore.

"The Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) appear to have increasingly abused emergency authorities to justify the use of force against Americans exercising their right to peaceful assembly," wrote House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.), Homeland Security Committee Chairman Bennie Thompson (D-Miss.) and Oversight and Reform Committee Chairwoman Carolyn Maloney (D-N.Y.).

"Reports from Oregon this week make clear that this misuse of resources and personnel remains a growing threat. Accordingly, we write to request an investigation by your offices into the use of federal law enforcement agencies by the Attorney General and the Acting Secretary of Homeland Security to suppress First Amendment protected activities in Washington, D.C., Portland, and other communities across the United States," they added. (Read more)

- Father, these incessant investigations would be tiring for any man, let alone the President. As he attempts to crack down on the lawlessness, people hate on him for that.

"You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has anointed you with the oil of gladness beyond your companions." (Hebrews 1:9)

9. Hardin Co. couple gets ankle monitors after COVID-19 quarrel with health dept. - WKYT

A Kentucky couple is wearing ankle bracelets after a run-in with the health department. According to WAVE3 News, Elizabeth Linscott tested positive for COVID-19 in Hardin County last weekend. After testing positive but without showing any symptoms, Linscott said the health department contacted her and requested she sign documents that will limit her traveling anywhere unless she calls the health department first. She said she chose to not sign the documents.

"My part was if I have to go to the ER, if I have to go to the hospital, I'm not going to wait to get the approval to go," she said.

But Linscott said she would take necessary precautions if she needed to go to the hospital, like letting workers know she has recently tested positive for COVID-19.

A couple of days after she denied signing the Self-isolation and Controlled Movement Agreed Order, Linscott said the Hardin County Sheriff's Department arrived at her home without warning. Her husband, Isaiah, was home.

"I open up the door and there's like eight different people," he said. "Five different cars and I'm like what the heck's going on? This guy's in a suit with a mask, it's the health department guy and he has three different papers for us. For me, her and my daughter."

If the Linscotts travel more than 200 feet, their ankle monitors will alert law enforcement. (Read more)

- Father, this situation over a virus has become evil. We take authority over these actions by the governments and declare them null and void. We also stand against the virus itself, binding it and rebuking Satan's plan for the United States.

"And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19)

10. China tells Christians to renounce faith in Jesus & worship President Xi Jinping instead - Christian Today

China has ordered Christian villagers to renounce their faith and worship the nation's Communist Party leaders instead.

Chinese authorities visited Christian homes in Linfen in the northern province of Shanxi in April and told residents who were on welfare benefits that they had to take down all crosses, and replace any displays of Jesus with portraits of Chairman Mao and President Xi Jinping, according to religious freedom magazine, Bitter Winter.

Any Christians who refused to comply with the demand had their welfare subsidies annulled.

One local pastor reported to Bitte Winter: "All impoverished households in the town were told to display Mao Zedong images. The government is trying to eliminate our belief and wants to become God instead of Jesus."

In one village, a Christian from the state-sponsored Three-Self Church reported how authorities forcefully eliminated all Christian imagery including any images of Jesus in his home. Officials replaced the images with a portrait of Mao Zedong. (Read more)

- Father, we pray Your mighty hand of protection for the Believers in China- both in the underground church and the visible one. May they receive Your provision, strength, faith, hope and victory in the midst of this latest persecution.

"Blessed are you when they revile and persecute you, and say all kinds of evil against you for My sake. Rejoice and be exceedingly glad, for great is your reward in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you."
(Matthew 5:11,12)

11. Trump vows to send feds into cities facing violence, as DHS reportedly drafts Chicago deployment plan - Fox News

President Trump on Monday vowed to send more federal law enforcement personnel to major cities facing a surge in violence, amid reports that the Department of Homeland Security is drawing up plans to send 150 federal agents to Chicago.

"New York and Chicago and Philadelphia and Detroit and Baltimore . . . we're not going to let this happen in our country," Trump said in the Oval Office. "We will have more federal law enforcement. That I can tell you." (Read more)

- Lord, as the President fights for law and order in these chaotic cities, we ask that Your Spirit move among the people. We also pray for Your Mighty Protection against attacks on these law enforcement officers.

"He shall cover you with His feathers and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler." (Psalm 91:4)

The prophetic American valley of decision

Joel 2:1 says, "Blow the trumpet in Zion, And sound an alarm in My holy mountain! Let all the inhabitants of the land tremble; For the day of the LORD is coming, For it is at hand." America needs to sound the alarm for there is a day of reckoning fast approaching. Americans are truly in a valley of decision and the future of this country for generations hangs in the balance. There are two recent news events that underscore a dangerous pattern for America that jeopardizes both freedom of speech and of religion: a recent election in New York, and the ongoing investigation of the Obama-Clinton-Democratic National Committee's use of the secret FISA Court to spy on and undermine a duly-elected president.

Across America, Democratic-controlled cities face tremendous crime waves and financial issues. Yet, the Party leadership continues to advocate for unprecedented actions such as defunding police, deficit spending, and a demand for federal money to bail them out. These socialist ideals are destructive to all Americans because they are led by extremists and radicals who want to deconstruct the country. Last week in the New York City borough of the Bronx, for example, the powerful chairman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Eliot Engel, was defeated by a socialist upstart middle school principal who had the backing of socialists Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. The primary was held June 23, and only now enough ballots have been counted to give Jamaal Bowman a stunning 15-point victory.

There are so many fishy things about this "election." Mail in ballots. A political socialist upstart with no prior experience toppling a 30-year incumbent. This is reminiscent of how socialist Ocasio-Cortez upset long-term entrenched democrat Joe Crowley in 2018. Couple this with the trend of continuous and ongoing "investigations" against political opponents by the Democrats, and America is not-so-suddenly looking like a revolutionary communist state. The declassified documents of the investigation of the Steele dossier, paid for by the Clinton Campaign and the DNC, and used by Obama for FISA warrants to spy on Trump's campaign, clearly indicate the deep state and the Democrats tried to prevent Trump from taking office. Their efforts to remove Trump on false information have continued with Soviet-like tribunals since 2016.

These trends are alarming. The Democratic Party is already socialistic, yet it is becoming even more socialist. Presidential Candidate Joe Biden is considering selecting a socialist running mate, like Elizabeth Warren. The Democratic Party, like the socialists and communists in other regimes across the world, is showing its vast appetite for endless investigations and disruption of the election process. Defunding the police, vote by mail, taking over a month to declare primary victors, vilifying and labeling anyone who disagrees with them are all revolutionary steps. Left unchecked, these people will dictate a police state in the name of justice and freedom that will destroy free speech and religious freedom-the enemies of tyranny. America needs to sound the alarm, for we are in a valley of decision.

Anarchy in the Pacific Northwest

Anarchy In The Pacific Northwest --

Why is this happening?

By Gary Bauer
Campaign for Working Families

The massive demonstrations we saw following the killing of George Floyd have mostly subsided. In their wake, they've left two things. They've left increased gang violence in many major American cities.

And in a few places, they've left something even more dangerous: A complete takeover of parts of these cities by anarchists and communists. That's what we're seeing in Seattle and Portland.

Over the weekend, Portland police declared a riot after the police union building was broken into and a fire was lit. It was the 51st night of unrest in Portland.

President Trump and Attorney General William Barr have sent in federal law enforcement to quell the violence. You'd think local officials would be grateful for the help and be asking for more. But, unbelievably, the exact opposite has happened.

Portland's leftist mayor Ted Wheeler has handcuffed police whose job it is to restore order. On Sunday Wheeler said that federal officers are "not wanted" in Portland and that "we want them to leave."

Congress is back in session this week and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is signaling that she'll open an investigation. But she has no intention of investigating the anarchists who are destroying Portland. Instead, she wants to investigate federal law enforcement, the ones who are trying to restore order and save lives.

The political left in America has gone crazy. None of what we're seeing now has anything to do with racial justice. The Portland and Seattle police departments are more racially diverse than the demonstrators are.

If city officials don't wake up, they'll guarantee that poor, minority communities will never get the economic investments, improved schools and safety they so desperately need to prosper.

Update: New Jersey Killing

Lawyer found dead in upstate NY may be linked to New Jersey shooting at judge's house

A man possibly involved in the fatal shooting of a federal court judge's son in New Jersey was found dead in New York's Sullivan County on Monday afternoon, according to multiple reports.

The man, an attorney from New York City, is being investigated in connection with the shooting, a law enforcement official and a judiciary official told the Associated Press. The man had appeared before the judge in the past, the officials said.

The man was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, law enforcement officials said. Additional information was not immediately available.

Salas' son, 20-year-old Daniel Anderl, was killed and her husband, defense lawyer Mark Anderl, 63, is in the hospital after they were shot around 5 p.m. Sunday, officials have said.

Salas was in the basement at the time and wasn't injured, according to the Associated Press.

The gunman fled in a car, officials said.

North Brunswick Mayor Francis "Mac" Womack told NJ.com Mark Anderl needed surgery shortly after the attack, but is now in stable condition at an area hospital.

Attorney General William P. Barr acknowledged the tragedy and offered his condolences in a statement on Monday.

"I send my deepest condolences to Judge Salas and her family on the death of their son and wish her husband a swift and complete recovery," he said. "This kind of lawless, evil action carried out against a member of the federal judiciary will not be tolerated, and I have ordered the full resources of the FBI and U.S. Marshals Service to investigate the matter."

Three Public School Myths

THREE PUBLIC SCHOOL MYTHS YOU PROBABLY BELIEVE

Christian parents now must consider the discrepancy between what they, as parents, want for their children, and the outcomes the public school desires. With trust in the public school system either destroyed or severely damaged, parents can no longer entrust the children they love to a school system that teaches them to hate God and transforms them into pro Marxists.

Maybe their school district will follow the guidelines of New York City Schools, as they enlist curriculum writers to develop new teaching units to include such themes as "systemic racism," "police brutality," and "white privilege."

If President Trump and Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos have their way, in a few short weeks, children will return to their neighborhood public schools. Caring parents must make crucial decisions during this interim period, not only about the dangers of contact exposure to coronavirus but also about the possibility of entering a hostile learning environment.

Father, I pray Your direction as Your people rebuild America's educational system, raise up the ancient ruins, and restore the places long devastated. Renew the ruined networks that have been devastated for generations. (Isaiah 61:4)

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

WE'LL UNDERSTAND IT BETTER BY AND BY

"Later you will understand." (John 13:7)

Lyrics

We are tossed and driv'n On the restless sea of time; Somber skies and howling tempests Oft succeed a bright sunshine; In that land of perfect day, When the mists have rolled away, We will understand it better by and by.

Refrain:

Refrain

By and by, when the morning comes,
When the saints of God are gathered home
We'll tell the story how we've overcome,
For we'll understand it better by and by.

We are often destitute Of the things that life demands, Want of food and want of shelter, Thirsty hills and barren lands; We are trusting in the Lord, And according to God's Word, We will understand it better by and by.

Refrain

Trials dark on every hand, And we cannot understand All the ways that God could lead us To that blessèd promised land; But He guides us with His eye, And we'll follow till we die, For we'll understand it better by and by.

Refrain

Temptations, hidden snares Often take us unawares, And our hearts are made to bleed For a thoughtless word or deed; And we wonder why the test When we try to do our best, But we'll understand it better by and by.

Refrain

Lightning strikes 4 as violent storms hammer St. Louis

As violent thunderstorms rattled south St. Louis, Missouri, on Sunday night, four people in the city were struck by lightning.

At 9:35 p.m. on Sunday, the St. Louis Fire Department released information regarding the lightning strikes on social media. The department reported that the four victims -- all of whom were men -- were transported by Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and one was in critical condition.

"Thunderstorms with a tremendous amount of cloud-to-ground lightning affected Greater St. Louis Sunday evening," AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Dave Samuhel said.

"The thunderstorms were most widespread across the area between 7 and 9 p.m. CDT Sunday evening," Samuhel said. "There were around 5,000 cloud-to-ground lightning strikes across Greater St. Louis during this time frame."

Capt. Garon Mosby of the St. Louis Fire Department confirmed that the four men were struck in Marquette Park around 8 p.m.

The group of men went to the park to play soccer before the storm rolled in, which, residents told Fox 2 News, the group did every Sunday. According to a neighbor in the area, one man was struck while the others were injured by the force of the bolt.

All four men reportedly fell to the ground after the strike, but only two remained on the ground, a witness told Fox 2 News. The other two who were able to get up attempted to perform CPR on the victim who was hit directly.

Andrea Ford looked from a window in her home after the lightning struck the park and saw two people on the ground.

"The lightning started hitting real hard but then it was a big old boom and lightning shot out the sky and hit the one guy and the other guy that was next to him fell also," Ford told KMOV4 News. "They were doing CPR, so for like 30 minutes, seemed like 30 minutes, and he was still not responding."

"We Love Law Enforcement":

Church Gifts $1,000 to Every Police Officer in Its Town

"I think small towns all over America feel like we do: that we want our voice to be heard, that we love law enforcement - our local police officers. And if we can do something to support them and encourage them, then that's what we want to do. And we feel very good about what we did." - Pastor Perry Cleek

A small-town church in Tennessee is receiving nationwide attention after honoring its local police department in a public ceremony with a gift of $1,000 for each officer.

The congregation, Lighthouse Baptist Church in Jonesboro, Tennessee, wanted to encourage the officers in light of criticism police have received nationally in recent months.

All total, it cost the church $23,000 to honor Jonesboro's entire police force of 23 officers.

The ceremony was so unique that Lighthouse Baptist Church pastor Perry Cleek was invited to the White House for a July 13 event on law enforcement.

"Our church watched over the last few weeks . . . the way that our police officers were treated all over the country," Cleek said at the White House.

Police officers, he said, have "been demonized and disgraced and dishonored."

"And we got our heads together and thought, 'What can we do as a small church in a small town to honor our police, and to let our voice be known?' The voice of small-town America is seldom heard."

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
