"Violence will not be heard again in your land, Nor devastation or destruction within your borders; But you will call your walls salvation, and your gates praise."(Isaiah 60:18)

As He says also in Hosea,

"I will call those who were not My people, 'My people,'
And her who was not beloved, 'beloved.'"
"And it shall be that in the place where it was said to them, 'you are not My people,'
There they shall be called sons of the living God."

Focus on Israel

1. Netanyahu vows all settlements will be annexed July 1, but other lands may wait - Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told settler leaders on Sunday that he still intends to annex all West Bank settlements on the July 1 date that is the earliest allowed by his coalition deals, but he acknowledged that annexing other lands allocated to Israel under the Trump peace plan will likely take more time, several participants in the meeting told The Times of Israel.

The remarks reaffirmed Netanyahu's self-declared July 1 target date for extending Israeli sovereignty to all West Bank settlements but also appeared to mark the first time he has admitted to long-reported delays by the joint US-Israeli team tasked with mapping out the further territories to be annexed, mainly in the Jordan Valley.

Netanyahu's comments would mean the government would initially annex about three percent of West Bank territory, covering the 132 settlements, home to some 450,000 Israelis. The remainder of the roughly 30% that the Trump deal grants to Israel - most of which is in the Jordan Valley - would be annexed at a later period, when the joint US-Israeli mapping committee finishes determining the exact territorial divisions beyond the pre-1967 Green Line.

2. Jerusalem: Police Arrest 21 Arabs Operating on PA's Behalf in Capital - Jewish Press

Jerusalem's police on Sunday night arrested 21 Arab residents of the capital on suspicion that they illegally operated on behalf of the Palestinian Authority (PA) in the city.

The police stated Monday morning that it raided several homes in eastern Jerusalem and arrested the group of suspects who operated on behalf of the PA in Jerusalem, a PA attempt to assert its sovereignty in Jerusalem.

During the search, the forces seized tens of thousands of shekels and vehicles used by the suspects during their activities.

"The operation is a result of covert activity and targeted intelligence collection by Israeli police against suspects operating in eastern Jerusalem in violation of the law," the police stated.

The suspects allegedly served as PA representatives and acted on behalf of the PA security forces in eastern Jerusalem and the Arab villages surrounding the city.

3. 'Raise a gun': Calls for violence against Israel by Hamas in light of Trump plan - World Israel News

The leader of the Hamas terror group in Gaza praised his rival, Palestinian leader Mahmoud Abbas, for cutting off ties with Israel and called for a new armed uprising against the Jewish state.

"We welcome the Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's decision to disengage from all agreements with the Israeli occupation, but we need real actions," Ismail Haniyeh said.

It has been proven to all liberation movements around the world that liberation cannot be achieved unless a gun is raised," Haniyeh said in comments carried by the PIC news agency affiliated with Hamas.

Haniyeh welcomed the support given the Palestinians by some Arab and Muslim countries, including objections to annexation by Jordan, calling for a rejection of the proposal by President Donald Trump earlier this year for a peace deal that would see a Palestinian state alongside Israel.

"No to the deal of the century," Haniyeh said.

4. 169 coronavirus patients diagnosed in last 24 hours - Israel National News

A total of 169 new coronavirus patients have been diagnosed over the last day and the number of active cases stands at 2,607, according to data released by the Health Ministry Monday night.

The death toll stands at 298. 15,127 Israelis have recovered from the disease so far.

During the meeting of the government's 'Coronavirus Cabinet' Monday, the Health Ministry again demanded the closure of the education system following the spread of the virus in schools. One official told Kan News: "It's best to close now and open in a capsule format." The ministers opposed this position and the proposal was rejected.

Earlier Monday government froze plans to gradually lift restrictions put in place at the height of the coronavirus pandemic, following an uptick in the number of new reported coronavirus infections.

5. Half of Jewish heritage sites in Syria damaged 'beyond repair' - Israel Hayom

Almost half of the Jewish historic sites in Syria and a quarter of Jewish sites in Iraq have been destroyed, research published this week finds.

In Iraq, at least 68 of 297 Jewish heritage sites have been irreparably damaged, and only 11% of the extant sites remain fully intact, according to the London-based Jewish Cultural Heritage Initiative (JCHI).

In Syria, 32 of 71 sites have been destroyed, the JCHI found. Almost all the structures date from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Structures in danger include the Bandara Synagogue in Aleppo and the Prophet Elijah Synagogue in Damascus.

7. Caroline Glick: We are Witnessing US "Rent-A-Mob" Riots - Pulse of Israel

Are the protests in Israel and the United States related? Caroline Glick claims that there is actually a lot more here that is well orchestrated and planned than we may think.

The timing especially always seems to be around 6 months before a major election in order to make an impact on the minds of voters. Caroline even takes it up a level and notes that many of the major media companies are even all seemingly reading from similar scripts. She notes that former senior Obama administration officials all seem to have the same talking points - this is no mere coincidence.

Moreover, many of the rioters - not the protesters - seem to be paid - again, not spontaneous. Not only are the looters being given an incentive, but they are being choreographed to work together all across the United States. The line needs to be made clear. Protests are perfectly fine and even wonderful. Rioting, looting, and destroying is horrible, illegal, and poses an existential threat. This simply cannot go on.

1. Trump withdraws National Guard from DC now that 'everything is under perfect control' - Fox News

President Trump announced Sunday the National Guard would withdraw from Washington, D.C., saying that "everything is under perfect control" following nearly two weeks of peaceful protests and violent rioting and looting in response to the death of George Floyd.

"I have just given an order for our National Guard to start the process of withdrawing from Washington, D.C., now that everything is under perfect control," Trump tweeted. "They will be going home, but can quickly return, if needed. Far fewer protesters showed up last night than anticipated!"

Army Sec. Ryan McCarthy said Sunday that within the next 48 to 72 hours, all out-of-state National Guard will be withdrawn from D.C. (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You that things have calmed down significantly across the nation. But we also pray that as the National Guard leaves, there will be no flare-ups in our nation's capitol. There are rumors and misinformation rampant about a divide between the President and the Military - we pray against those things and speak SHALOM to them.

"Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification." (Romans 14:19)

2. Chicago's South Side Left With Few Food Options After Weekend Violence - CBS

It was bad before and it's even worse now. Food deserts in some South Side communities have even fewer choices for groceries after the weekend's violence.

CBS 2's Marissa Parra has more from Bronzeville with a look at how it's impacting the community. For neighbors, the Jewel-Osco on 75th is the grocery store. But no longer. "It's kind of a sad thing to think about," said resident William Wright. "I take my grandma here every Sunday." On Sunday night, it was ravaged by looters, as you can see by the aftermath captured in video from the next day, leaving neighbors frustrated.

"It's not what you do. It's how do you do it," Wright said. "What did we accomplish, aside from take our property value down and embarrass ourselves?"

Wright, his grandmother and so many around here are trying to figure out which stores on the South Side are even left right now. Chicago now has food deserts in places that weren't food deserts before. (Read more)

- Father, we ask that Your provision come to these "food deserts" where there are few choices for something to eat. We ask that Your Spirit arise over these people - let them see Your mercy and love, turning to You in faith.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God." (Philippians 4:6)

3. 'Get the *** Outta Here!': Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey Forced to Leave Protest for Refusing to Defund Police - Breitbart

Angry Minneapolis protesters told Mayor Jacob Frey (D) he was no longer welcome to demonstrate against the death of George Floyd - an African-American man who died in police custody in the city - after he refused to commit to defunding its police department.

Footage shared to social media shows a masked Frey, who is under fire from both Republicans and Democrats over his response to protests and violent unrest, telling a crowd of protesters that he believes the city's police department must undergo "structural reforms" and that a "systemic, racist system needs to be revamped."

Then, one speaker pressed Frey on whether he would defund the police, asking him: "We have a yes or no question for you. Yes or no, will you commit to defunding the Minneapolis Police Department?

The speaker continued before Frey could respond: "We don't want any more police, is that clear? We don't want people with guns in our communities, shooting us down. Do you have an answer? It is a yes or a no."

"If he says 'no,' guess what the f—- we are going to do next year," the protester added, referring to the mayor being up for re-election next year.

Frey responded "I do not support abolishing the Minneapolis Police Department," prompting the protester who asked him the question to shout "get the **** outta here" at him.

Multiple protesters then began to boo Frey loudly and chant "go home Jacob, go home!"(Read more)

- Lord, we ask that You visit the Mayor of Minneapolis, and all of the members of his council, showing them truth and turning their hearts to You. If there is no repentance, we ask for their removal for the sake of the citizens who love You in that city.

"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge; fools despise wisdom and instruction." (Proverbs 1:7)

4. 'Defund the police' wrests support from politicians coast-to-coast - and steamrolls holdouts - Fox News

In the wake of George Floyd's death, calls to "defund the police" have in a matter of days escalated from a fringe campaign to a celebrity-backed cause to part of the municipal mainstream -- and now appear primed to spur official action, to varying degrees, in cities across the country.

The stunning momentum behind the movement has fueled Republican criticism that "radical" ideas are being readily embraced by Democrats.

On the ground, however, there is a visible conflict between Democrats on board with "defund" and those who want to seek reforms without actually dismantling police departments. This split, and the sudden power that activists wield over local officials on the issue, was perhaps best illustrated over the weekend when Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey faced a crowd of protesters asking him whether he would support abolishing the city's police department. (Read more)

- Lord, the folly of this idea should be clear to everyone. Gangs are the largest cause of violence in these larger cities. We pray for a more reasonable solution to the issues between minority communities and police.

"Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but such as keep the law contend with them." (Proverbs 28:4)

5. NY Times editorial page editor resigns amid staff fury over Tom Cotton op-ed - Fox News

The New York Times announced Sunday that Editorial Page Editor James Bennet is resigning -- amid reports of anger inside the company over the publication of an op-ed from Sen. Tom Cotton about the George Floyd unrest last week.

Bennet had apologized late last week after previously defending the piece, titled, "Send in the Troops." Cotton, R-Ark., called for the government to deploy troops as a last resort to help quell riots and looting that emerged amid the anger over Floyd's death in Minneapolis police custody last month.

"The journalism of Times Opinion has never mattered more than in this time of crisis at home and around the world, and I've been honored to be part of it," Bennet said in a statement. "I'm so proud of the work my colleagues and I have done to focus attention on injustice and threats to freedom and to enrich debate about the right path forward by bringing new voices and ideas to Times readers."

For his part, Cotton has criticized the Times for distancing itself from the op-ed. "The New York Times editorial page editor and owner defended it in public statements but then they totally surrendered to a woke child mob from their own newsroom that apparently gets triggered if they're presented with any opinion contrary to their own, as opposed to telling the woke children in their newsroom this is the workplace, not a social-justice seminar on campus," Cotton told Fox News' "Sunday Morning Futures."(Read more)

- Father, Senator Cotton's op-ed was truthful. We ask for You to move among the media now and bring them into alignment with Your Word.

"Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth." (John 17:17)

6. 'This Is A Sham': Tucker Blasts Health Care Professionals Who Signed Letter Exempting George Floyd Protests From Coronavirus Restrictions - Daily Caller

Fox News host Tucker Carlson called out health care professionals who signed a letter saying one kind of demonstration should not violate coronavirus social distancing policies while other kinds should.

During the Friday night "Tucker Carlson Tonight" segment, Carlson explained how, just a few weeks ago, Americans were told the ongoing "medical emergency" was "more important than your rights."

But now, more than 1,200 health professionals reportedly signed a letter claiming that ongoing protests and riots sparked by the death of George Floyd should be allowed to continue, and should not be "confused with a permissive stance on all gatherings, particularly protests against stay-home orders."

"Those actions not only oppose public health interventions, but are also rooted in white nationalism and run contrary to respect for Black lives," the letter continued.

Carlson accused them of "lying" about the necessity of severe lockdown restrictions in the first place.(Read more)

- Lord, this display of hypocrisy is disheartening to all. We ask for Your justice to prevail over America, the kind that brings life and restoration to all that has been lost from both the virus and the rioting.

- "Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago." (Acts 3:19-21)

7. Powell: Trump Is 'Dangerous' to Our Country - Breitbart

Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union." former Secretary of State Colin Powell called President Donald Trump "dangerous" to our country. Powell said, "I never believed that the constitution was under threat until recently. I have concerns about that. We should all be attentive right now to how the rule of law is being administered in this country."

He continued, We have a constitution. We have to follow that constitution. The president's drifted away from it. I'm so proud of what these generals and admirals have done, and others have done."

He added, "The first thing that troubled me is the whole birther movement. The birthers movement had to do with the fact that the president of the United States, President Obama, was a black man. That was part of it.

And then I was deeply troubled by the way in which he was going around insulting everybody, insulting gold star mothers, insulting John McCain, insulting immigrants-I'm a son of immigrants- insulting anybody who dared to speak against him. And that is dangerous for our democracy. It is dangerous for our country. I think what we're seeing now, those massive protest movements I have ever seen in my life. I think this suggests the country is getting wise to this, and we're not going to put up with it anymore."

He concluded, "We're not the country of just the president, we have a Congress, we have a Supreme Court, but most of all we have the people of the United States, the ones who vote. The ones who vote him in and the ones who vote him out. I couldn't vote for him in 2016. I certainly cannot in any way support President Trump this year." (Read more)

- Lord, we rebuke the words that have come from this man, and cause them to fall to the ground. We ask that You visit him in the night seasons to turn his heart away from angst toward the President and the falsehoods that are actually endangering America.

"A false witness shall be punished, and a liar shall be caught." (Proverbs 19:9)

8. MSNBC Hires Disgraced Ex-FBI Lawyer Lisa Page As An Analyst - Daily Wire

An FBI lawyer who was dismissed from the special counsel investigation into Russian collusion has been hired as a legal and national security analyst for MSNBC.

Lisa Page, whose anti-Trump texts with fired FBI agent Peter Strzok got her removed from Robert Mueller's investigation into whether President Donald Trump's 2016 campaign colluded with Russia to steal the election, was announced as MSNBC's latest hire Friday evening.

"JUST ANNOUNCED: @MSNBC welcomes Former FBI Lawyer @NatSecLisa as an NBC News & MSNBC National Security & Legal Analyst," the channel's public relations account tweeted.

As Mueller investigated the Trump campaign (he ultimately discovered no evidence of collusion, despite years of media headlines claiming the opposite), text messages between Strzok and Page became public in a June 2018 Inspector General's report. The two employees were having an affair (Page is married) and sent each other texts expressing anti-Trump sentiments in early August 2016 - ahead of the election. At one point, Page asked Strzok if Trump would become president. Strzok responded: "No. No he won't. We'll stop it." The pair also discussed an "insurance policy" for if Trump were to win the election. (Read more)

- Lord, MSNBC, and all left-winger media are simply using the most biased "analysts" to push their biased narratives. We ask that You move on them to stop the lies and change their hearts.

"A false balance is an abomination to the Lord, but a just weight is his delight."(Proverbs 11:1)

9. Trump and Biden campaigns targeted by suspected Chinese and Iranian hackers - Washington Examiner

The campaigns of President Trump and his Democratic rival Joe Biden have been targeted by Iranian and Chinese hackers, according to Google.

An Iranian group, known as APT 35, attacked Trump campaign staff through phishing attacks, according to Shane Huntley, director for Google's Threat Analysis Group. He said a China-based group, known as APT 31, similarly attacked the Biden campaign. There has been no sign that either campaign was compromised, Huntley stressed. Both campaigns have been alerted to the hacking attempts. Federal authorities were also notified.

"We can confirm that our Threat Analysis Group recently saw phishing attempts from a Chinese group targeting the personal email accounts of Biden campaign staff and an Iranian group targeting the personal email accounts of Trump campaign staff. We didn't see evidence that these attempts were successful," a Google spokesperson told the Washington Examiner. (Read more)

- Father, we take authority over these hackers, and declare every attempt to be null and void. We pray that America's cyber security would be tighter than ever throughout the campaign season.

"And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us." (1 John 5:14)

10. Trump's Troop Plan Stuns Germany and Rocks the Postwar Order - Bloomberg

President Donald Trump's directive to pull 9,500 troops from Germany hits home hard for friends of America like Edgar Knobloch, whose Bavarian town has been home to U.S. service members for seven decades.

Like Chancellor Angela Merkel, the mayor of Grafenwoehr was caught off guard. It's the latest sign of the U.S.'s deterioration of ties with a loyal ally, one that not only hosts most of its troops in Europe but also has seen them fuel the local economy.

This medieval town, with a tiny population dwarfed by the size of the American military presence, shows just what a shadow the U.S. has cast over Europe after World War II and what its retreat symbolizes in the eyes of locals and international observers. Another troop cut would signal a further break with a legacy of two generations.

Located near the former East German border, Grafenwoehr is a place where overseas U.S. military infrastructure and community bonds survived the end of the Cold War. Locals celebrate Thanksgiving and enjoy spare ribs. Every year, they turn out by the thousands for the German-American Folk Festival to share beer, bratwurst and country music with the roughly 11,000 U.S. troops based at NATO's biggest training area in Europe.

"They're completely integrated here," Knobloch, 55, said in an interview. "Restaurants are bilingual. There are mixed marriages, mixed families. You often hear from the older members of the community: 'The Americans liberated us.'" (Read more)

- Lord, we cannot fathom what our President was thinking, or what his plans are, but You know. We pray for Your Spirit to reveal to him Your plans and purposes in all that he does. We ask for a heart healing over everything that has happened to him since before the 2016 election.

"Teach me Your way, O Lord, and lead me in a smooth path, because of my enemies." (Psalm 27:11)

Bridgebuilding or political narrative?

A comprehensive Harvard study of police data indicates that police are less likely to use lethal force against black civilians, but target black civilians with non-lethal force at a significantly higher percentage than with white suspects. The study of a 15-year period on police data regarding racial differences is contained in AN EMPIRICAL ANALYSIS OF RACIAL DIFFERENCES IN POLICE USE OF FORCE by National Bureau of Economic Research's Roland G. Fryer, Jr., an African American Harvard professor of economics, July 2016. The study found that Blacks are 23.8% less likely to be shot at by police relative to whites, but Blacks are harassed far more in police interactions.

Fryer Studied 1,332 shootings between 2000-2015 using detailed data from police reports in Houston; Austin, Tex.; Dallas; Los Angeles; Orlando, Fla.; Jacksonville, Fla.; and four other counties in Florida; 3.5 million arrests from New York City stop and frisk records 2003-2013; and 500,000 observations from 1996-2011 in the Police-Public Contact Survey by the Bureau of Justice. The study found: Black civilians are 30.9% less likely to be shot with a pistol (rather than a taser) relative to non-black suspects. Officers are 47.4% less likely to discharge their firearms before being attacked if the suspect is black; Blacks are 53% more likely to experience any use of non-lethal force; Blacks are 21.3% more likely to endure some form of force.

The study indicated blacks are 19.4% more likely than whites to be involved in an interaction with police in which at least a weapon is drawn; Officers decisions to use lethal force are not correlated with the race of the suspect. The study finds there are no differences in the use of lethal force for black suspects compared with white. There is no evidence of racial differences of the officers who use lethal force. Fryer said, "Much more troubling, due to their frequency and potential impact on minority belief formation, is the possibility that racial differences in police use of non-lethal force have spillovers on myriad dimensions of racial inequality."-meaning lethal force is not racially motivated, but harassment likely is.

This study backs up what the black community has believed for generations-police in general do not serve and protect them the same as whites; that blacks live under a form of soft tyranny that doesn't afford them the feeling of freedom and security. Every time there is a senseless death such as George Floyd's, these concerns grow even deeper. This is where the frustration and perception of being treated unfairly becomes reality. It is a vicious cycle that informs behavioral reactions to police. What is our response as Christians? Christ said in Matthew 7:12, "Therefore, whatever you want men to do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets." It's the Golden Rule and we should employ it in all our relations. Be a bridgebuilder focused on the pith of the issue rather than the political narrative.

Scorecard: Defunding the Police

Scorecard: Defunding the Police

Different Leaders Weigh in on this Topic

1. Barr, in FNC interview, calls defund police push 'dangerous' and 'wrong' - Fox News

Attorney General Bill Barr on Monday blasted calls from protesters and activists to defund police departments in the wake of George Floyd's death - saying in an exclusive interview with Fox News' Bret Baier that going after entire departments is "wrong" and "dangerous."

Barr told Fox News he agreed on the need for changes in police departments to address the concerns of many people of color, but he stopped well short of supporting moves to defund departments.

"The police chiefs, the rank-and-file officers understand the need for change and there has been great change," Barr said in the interview, which airs Monday at 6 p.m. ET on Fox News' "Special Report with Bret Baier." "I think defunding the police, holding the entire police structure responsible for the actions of certain officers is wrong and I think it is dangerous to demonize police."

"If you pull back the police from these communities there will be, there will be more harm done in these communities," Barr said.  (Read more)

2. 'Outlandish,' 'nonsense': McConnell blasts calls for defunding police - Washington Enquirer

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said calls to defund police departments will be rejected by most of the public. "I am all for social work and mental health," McConnell, a Kentucky Republican, said Monday on the Senate floor. "But call me old-fashioned. I think you may actually want a police officer to stop a criminal."

He called the Minneapolis City Council's plan to defund its police department "outlandish" and "nonsense." McConnell said police should not be "lumped in with the very worst examples of heinous behavior." (Read more)

3. McEnany: Trump believes there are 'instances of racism' but most cops are 'good people' - Fox News

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said Monday President Trump believes there are "instances of racism" but that most police officers are "good people."

At a press briefing, McEnany was asked if the president believes there is systemic racism within the police force. "The president has made it very clear that there are injustices in society," said McEnany. "He definitely believes there are instances of racism but he believes our law enforcement are the best in the world."

The press secretary noted that 750 officers were injured "defending this country from rioters and Antifa, as to be distinguished from peaceful protesters."

When pressed to say whether or not Trump believes the racism to be systemic, the press secretary said: "He believes most officers are good, hard-working people, there's a lot of evidence of that. He has great faith in our police departments." (Read more)

4. Biden comes out against defunding police, as movement gains traction - Fox News

Joe Biden's campaign came out Monday against the growing push to "defund the police," saying instead that the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee supports the "urgent need for reform."

"As his criminal justice proposal made clear months ago, Vice President Biden does not believe that police should be defunded," Biden campaign Rapid Response Director Andrew Bates said in a statement Monday. "He hears and shares the deep grief and frustration of those calling out for change, and is driven to ensure that justice is done and that we put a stop to this terrible pain."

Bates added that Biden supports "the urgent need for reform," which he said includes "funding for public schools, summer programs, and mental health and substance abuse treatment separate from funding for policing - so that officers can focus on the job of policing." (Read more)

5. Top Dems punt on 'defund the police' question - Fox News

Many top Democrats seemingly are reluctant to speak out on the sudden momentum behind the movement to "defund the police," as Minneapolis lawmakers announce they have the votes to do just that in their city -- the epicenter of the nation's unrest over the past two weeks following the death of George Floyd.

House and Senate Democrats on Monday held a news conference to unveil sweeping new legislation that, if passed, would increase accountability of police officers by banning certain practices and curbing immunity from legal consequences stemming from acts committed in the line of duty.

During the news conference, though, the "defund the police" calls were not explicitly discussed as lawmakers guided the discussion more toward reform efforts.

Later, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., were asked by a CNN reporter if they supported the movement to defund the police entirely.

"That's a local decision," Pelosi said, noting that they would have "those debates at the local level."

"That doesn't mean we're going to pile more money on to further militarize police," she reportedly added, without directly addressing whether she supports the radical step some local activists are demanding. (Read more)

6. 'Defund the police' wrests support from politicians coast-to-coast - and steamrolls holdouts - Fox News

The stunning momentum behind the movement has fueled Republican criticism that "radical" ideas are being readily embraced by Democrats.

On the ground, however, there is a visible conflict between Democrats on board with "defund" and those who want to seek reforms without actually dismantling police departments. - Lord, in the mighty Name of Jesus and by His Blood we take authority over every spirit of murder, hatred, and division. We command them to stand down and bind them from doing any more damage to America. We pray, Lord, that You and the Angelic Host will stand watch over the police officers, the military, and the President to keep them safe as the unrest continues. We cancel all plans to defund our police forces, in your Name, and above all, we pray for peace. Amen.

Democrats unveiled sweeping new legislation Monday that, if passed, would increase accountability of police officers by banning certain practices and significantly curbing immunity from legal consequences stemming from acts committed in the line of duty. placeholder

The bill comes as Americans across the country have protested against racism and police brutality in the aftermath of the death of George Floyd, who was pinned to the ground by his neck by a Minneapolis police officer.

"We're here because black Americans want to stop being killed," Sen. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., told reporters at a Monday press conference, but noted that "reforming policing is in the best interest of all Americans."

The Justice in Policing Act of 2020 would lower the bar for police officers to face criminal prosecution by allowing charges not just in cases where alleged misconduct was intentional, but also in cases of reckless misconduct. It also seeks to incentivize independent investigations at the state and local level and allow more "pattern and practice" investigations by state attorneys general and the U.S. Department of Justice.

The bill also includes a provision for a separate crime for conspiring to violate federal hate crime laws, which would theoretically add a charge against mob-style lynchings. A recent anti-lynching bill failed.

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

JESUS IS THE SWEETEST NAME I KNOW

"Thy name is as ointment poured forth.
(Song of Solomon 1:3)

Lyrics

Refrain

Jesus is the sweetest name I know,
And He's just the same as His lovely name,
And that's the reason why I love Him so;
Oh, Jesus is the sweetest name I know.

There is no name in earth or Heav'n above,
That we should give such honor and such love
As the blessèd name, let us all acclaim,
That wondrous, glorious name of Jesus.

Refrain

And some day I shall see Him face to face
To thank and praise Him for His wondrous grace,
Which He gave to me, when He made me free,
The blessèd Son of God called Jesus.

Words and Melody: Lela B. Long, 1924

About the Hymn:
In 1924, Peter W. Philpott was serving as pastor of the Moody Church in Chicago, Illinois. One night he was awakened by a call to come help a young woman staying at a hotel in the city.

He arrived to find her in the company of two family members. The woman-Lela Long-was gravely ill, and in great distress. Philpott prayed for her physical needs, and had the privilege of leading her to faith in Christ. Late the next day, he phoned the hotel to see how she was doing, only to learn the three had checked out. He wondered what had become of them, but had no way of getting in touch.

Five or six years later, Philpott was pastor of a large church in Los Angeles, California. At the close of one service, who should come up to him but the three people he had met in Chicago. They had seen his picture in a church advertisement and came to meet him.

An emergency had required their rapid departure from Chicago, and they apologized for not getting in touch. Lela Long thanked him for pointing her to the Savior, saying her life was wonderfully changed, and that she was now using her musical talent to serve the Lord.

She handed Philpott a copy of Jesus Is the Sweetest Name I Know, written shortly after her conversion: "I have written this especially for you, in remembrance of the day that you introduced me to the most wonderful Person I have ever known."

There have been names that I have loved to hear, But never has there been a name so dear To this heart of mine, as the name divine, The precious, precious name of Jesus.

Signs and Wonders

Signs and Wonders

One of world's most famous falls rumbles back to life

The falls, which are a collection of more than 275 waterfalls, sit on the border of Argentina and Brazil.

After an abnormally dry rainy season, South America's world-renowned Iguazu Falls, a World Heritage site, is rumbling with life once more. The flow of the 275 waterfalls dramatically slowed at a time when it typically reaches its peak.

The tourist attraction sits on the Brazil-Argentina border, and is second only in height to Victoria Falls, a set of waterfalls at the border of Zambia and Zimbabwe in Africa. Victoria Falls is recognized as the largest falls in the world and is widely seen as one of the seven natural wonders of the world. Around the end of April, Victoria Falls was recovering from a drought that had left its falls nearly dry as Iguazu Falls, which also saw its thundering cascades dry to a trickle.

From April to May, the falls experienced a drought during what is typically the rainy season. The river that feeds into the falls, Iguazu River, was moving at only 13% of its usual flow by the end of April, Reuters reported. Rainfall had been sparse not only during that month, however.

During the drought, the falls had slowed to a trickle. Iguazu looked like a collection of streams, the basin below relatively undisturbed. Now, the scene has roared to life, the river bursting over the falls and once again creating the iconic scene of rainbows in the mist.

When the falls are flowing at or above capacity, as seen in the video below, they are a magnificent force of nature to behold and to hear.

Good News Corner

The Good News Corner

"COEUR D'ALENE, IDAHO STANDS UP . . . ANTIFA STANDS DOWN!"

If you ventured to downtown Coeur d'Alene [population 51,303], Idaho last night you would think you had entered a Militia family reunion. No one has an accurate count of how many heavily armed citizens came out to support peaceful protestors and protect local businesses and citizens against shipped in ANTIFA members but it was certainly HUNDREDS, perhaps over a THOUSAND.

"We just drove downtown Coeur d'Alene. It is packed with armed citizens. I've never seen so many AR-15s in my life. There's at least a thousand armed citizens walking on the sidewalks and the streets are packed with cars and trucks with guys in the back with AR-15 and American flags everywhere. We saw two protesters wearing their little black clothing and black masks and sitting on a step quietly with their little poster board sign saying "our system sucks!" Guess why they're being so polite."~Keith Gibson, Coeur d'Alene resident.

Word got out that ANTIFA was going to ship in rioters to mingle with peaceful protestors in our quiet little town . . . and indeed they did as several white Mercedes vans were seen with dozens of people that didn't belong in our community. It was also made known that they were planning to use the local WINCO store as their staging ground. After learning this, a well-organized local group of concerned citizens set up a post in the parking lot to ensure that these unwelcomed invaders clearly understood that the citizens of Coeur d'Alene would have ZERO tolerance for any type of violence or destructive behavior in our town.

What was witnessed last night, 06/01/20 in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, was PROOF that Good Guys with guns keep bad guys with evil intent away. There was unity in a cause to protect the community. There were young people, old people, individuals from all walks of life out patrolling the community and believe it or not, EVERYONE, except the ANTIFA creeps felt extremely safe!

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]

Time to Repent!

"Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord, and that he may send the Christ appointed for you, Jesus, whom heaven must receive until the time for restoring all the things about which God spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets long ago."
