1. So Many Jews Are Returning to Israel That the Govt. Is Worried They Won't Be Able to Absorb Them - Breaking Israel News
Unlike immigration to other countries, olim to Israel are welcomed as long-lost brothers, educated and housed at great public expense. A combination of coronavirus and anti-Semitism is creating conditions expected to bring millions of Jews home. But the Israeli government, already stretched to the limit, is concerned they may not be able to fulfill the prophecy in the proper manner.
The Knesset's Immigration, Absorption, and Diaspora Affairs Committee met last Wednesday to discuss a major dilemma: Jewish immigration is expected to double nest year but budgetary constraints will make it difficult, if not impossible to absorb them into Israeli society.
Earlier this month, Jewish Agency Chairman Isaac Herzog reported to the committee that an estimated 250,000 people, mostly young people, will immigrate to Israel within the next three to five years. Herzog added that the number of people who have contacted the Jewish Agency about Aliyah from English-speaking countries has increased by 50%, and by 70% from French-speaking countries.
2. Report: 28 Hezbollah missile launch sites aimed at Israel - Israel National News
The Alma Center's Research Department initiated a project to find the locations of missile launching sites in South Lebanon adjacent to the civilian population, as part of what is known as the "Human Shield tactic".
In their report, Alma notes that, despite the fact that a large proportion of Hezbollah's missiles are located in south Lebanon, the information in public sources on the subject is scarce.
The primary source of Alma's project was the Wikimapia.org website.
"The first locations we found were all close to civilian infrastructure", the report states, "which drove us to further the research on the subject and thus find 28 missile launching locations and the sites connected with these locations".
According to the report, the missiles are medium-range missiles - "The same as those subject to the Hezbollah missile precision guided missile project (PGM's)".
3. Israel Air Force Establishes New Special Forces Wing - Jewish Press
The Seventh Wing was officially established Sunday at a special ceremony held at Palmachim Air Base in central Israel. IAF Commander Major-General Amikam Norkin and the wing's new commander, Colonel E., participated in the ceremony to establish the new wing.
The Seventh Wing of the Israel Air Force, to be called the 'Special Forces Wing' will be comprised of special operations Air Force units such as the Shaldag Unit and Unit 669.
The commander of the newly-established Seventh Wing, IAF Colonel E., said the new wing was established in response to the operational need to "confront the core challenges facing the IAF and to offer creative, relevant solutions. It is part of a process whose goal is to strengthen and streamline" the Air Force," he said. Colonel E. is veteran of both Shaldag Unit and Unit 669.
4. Israeli nurses threaten general strike as system heads toward collapse - World Israel News
Israeli nurses are threatening a general strike due to manpower shortages, reported Ynet on Monday.
Last month, the National Nurses Union declared an official labor dispute, triggered by what they call "impossible working conditions" for Israeli nurses during the second wave of coronavirus infections.
Before the coronavirus crisis, Israeli nurses complained about a manpower shortage and heavy workloads, and held a modified strike last July. The understaffing and workload issues have been exacerbated by the large uptick in emergency room and coronavirus ward admissions.
"Whoever thinks patients are receiving proper treatment today is mistaken," Ilana Cohen, Chair of the National Nurses Union, told Ynet. "The nurses are collapsing, the system is crashing. This [the strike] is not an empty threat."
5. Israel's virus cases pass 40,000 as official says full lockdown 'a step away' - Times of Israel
The Health Ministry on Monday evening reported 1,578 coronavirus infections in the previous 24 hours, as the total cases crossed the 40,000 mark and government officials were said to conclude there was no escaping a reimposed lockdown throughout the country.
The number of serious COVID-19 cases continued to surge and reached 183, a leap of 32 in one day. The tally has more than doubled in six days and has prompted growing concern by authorities.
Of the 183 serious patients, 54 were on ventilators - seven more than a day before. Another 97 were in moderate condition, and the rest were displaying mild or no symptoms.
Figures released by the ministry showed that 40,248 cases had been confirmed in the country since the start of the pandemic, including 20,560 active cases.
6. Progressive pro-Israel groups back Senate amendment to ban US aid on annexation; supported by eight liberal Zionist organizations - Times of Israel
WASHINGTON - A coalition of progressive pro-Israel groups in the United States announced its support Thursday for a proposed Senate amendment that would ban Israel from using US military aid to annex parts of the West Bank.
Eight member organizations of the Progressive Israel Network, an umbrella association of 10 liberal Zionist groups, argued that the measure would ensure American assistance is directed toward Israel's security and not a deleterious action that would harm the prospects of peace.
"All those who value human rights and Israeli democracy, support a peaceful resolution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and want to see an end to decades of occupation should agree that it would be unacceptable for US tax dollars to help foot the bill for an act as extreme and destructive as unilateral annexation," they said in a statement. 1. Trump denies Minnesota governor's request for $500M to repair damage from riots - Washington Examiner
President Trump has denied a request from Minnesota's governor for money to rebuild parts of Minneapolis that were destroyed during the riots following the death of George Floyd.
"The Governor is disappointed that the federal government declined his request for financial support," Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz's office said in a statement. "As we navigate one of the most difficult periods in our state's history, we look for support from our federal government to help us through."
Walz, a Democrat, requested that Trump declare Minnesota a "major disaster" zone in a request to the Federal Emergency Management Agency on July 2 after more than 1,500 buildings were damaged by looting and rioting in the wake of Floyd's death, totaling over $500 million in damages.
At least one Republican in the state had lobbied the Trump administration to reject the request, arguing that the state's response to the unrest should be thoroughly reviewed.
"If the federal government is expected to assist in the clean-up of these unfortunate weeks, it has an obligation to every American - prior to the release of funding - to fully understand the events which allowed for this level of destruction to occur and ensure it never happens again," Rep. Tom Emmer wrote to the Trump administration in a letter.
Another congressman, Rep. Jeff Duncan of South Carolina, praised the Trump administration's decision to reject Minnesota's request, placing blame on the local officials who told the police to stand down during the rioting. "Great news! @realDonaldTrump has DENIED Minnesota's disaster request to repair half a billion dollars in damage from the riots," Duncan tweeted. "Governors and Mayors who ordered police to stand down and watch their cities burn shouldn't get a penny in taxpayer aid!" (Read more)
- Father, we pray that this action by the Federal Government would be a wake up call to those who constantly allow lawlessness to destroy their cities and states. Let truth take root in their minds and hearts.
- "One who is wise is cautious and turns away from evil, but a fool is reckless and careless." (Proverbs 14:16)
2. Trump threatens to remove tax-exempt status of universities if they engage in 'radical left indoctrination' - Washington Examiner
President Trump said he will direct the Treasury Department to look into the tax-exempt status of universities and school systems if they are pushing "radical Left" ideas on their students.
"Too many Universities and School Systems are about Radical Left Indoctrination, not Education," Trump tweeted on Friday. "Therefore, I am telling the Treasury Department to re-examine their Tax-Exempt Status and/or Funding, which will be taken away if this Propaganda or Act Against Public Policy continues. Our children must be Educated, not Indoctrinated!"
Universities in particular have become epicenters of protest activity that has largely been aimed against the Trump administration and its allies. Efforts to "cancel" or interrupt controversial speakers have become the norm as well as adding public pressure on leadership to comply with demands that meet students' standards of inclusivity and personal needs.
Conservatives have long claimed that academia has been pushed to the left, and that trend has accelerated following the highly polarizing election of 2016. Trump and his conservative allies have accused universities of suppressing free speech toward students, staff, and visitors who don't comply with left-wing ideology. (Read more)
- Lord, we ask that all universities and colleges that do not allow free speech or punish students for being Conservative or Christian not be allowed to collect Federal dollars. We thank You for this move by the Trump administration.
- "Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered." (Proverbs 28:26)
3. Trump says he'll sign order with 'road to citizenship' for DACA recipients - The Hill
President Trump said Friday he intends to sign an executive order on immigration within the next month that he said will include a "road to citizenship" for recipients of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program. In an interview with Telemundo anchor José Díaz-Balart, Trump blamed Democrats from walking away from a deal on DACA and said the Supreme Court's decision last month blocking his administration's plan to end the Obama-era program gave him "tremendous power."
"The deal was done. DACA is going to be just fine. We're putting it in. It's going to be just fine. And I am going to be, over the next few weeks, signing an immigration bill that a lot of people don't know about. You have breaking news, but I'm signing a big immigration bill," Trump told Díaz-Balart. "Is that an executive order?" the anchor asked. "I'm going to do a big executive order. I have the power to do it as president and I'm going to make DACA a part of it," Trump responded. "But, we put it in, and we'll probably going to then be taking it out. We're working out the legal complexities right now, but I'm going to be signing a very major immigration bill as an executive order, which Supreme Court now, because of the DACA decision, has given me the power to do that."
Asked whether the executive order would provide temporary relief for DACA recipients, Trump said its scope would be much wider. (Read more)
- Father, we pray that wisdom would be granted to the President for anything he might sign that has to do with immigration or DACA. If he makes a "road to citizenship" that doesn't mean automatic citizenship, it means that they will have an opportunity.
- "And that servant who knew his master's will but did not get ready or act according to his will, will receive a severe beating." (Luke 12:47)
4. Anthony Fauci says he hasn't briefed Trump on COVID-19 for two months - Washington Examiner
The country's leading infectious diseases expert and key member of the White House coronavirus task force says he has not briefed the president on the coronavirus pandemic in more than two months.
In an interview with the Financial Times, Dr. Anthony Fauci explained that his reputation for not "sugar-coating things" was probably responsible for his disappearance from TV interviews.
In March and April, Fauci's appearances at the regular White House briefings turned him into a media sensation as he delivered no-nonsense updates on the spread of the disease, even as President Trump was predicting the worst was over.
But now, he says he has not seen the president at the White House since June 2 and that he has not briefed Trump in at least two months, although he is "sure" his messages are passed along.
"I have a reputation, as you probably have figured out, of speaking the truth at all times and not sugar-coating things," he said. "And that may be one of the reasons why I haven't been on television very much lately." (Read more)
- Lord, we are suspicious of Dr Fauci simply because he has flip-flopped so often on the issues of coronavirus. He believes himself an expert- Lord please show him that You are the great physician, and You know what is really going on with the virus.
- "There is no remembrance of people of old, and even those who are yet to come will not be remembered by those who follow them." (Eccl 1:11)
5. American Academy of Pediatrics breaks with White House over school reopenings - Fox News
The American Academy of Pediatrics on Friday flipped its position on reopening schools in the fall, distancing itself from the Trump administration, which cited the organization's initial stance in order to bolster its push to reopen all K-12 brick and mortar schools.
"Returning to school is important for the healthy development and well-being of children, but we must pursue re-opening in a way that is safe for all students, teachers and staff," the AAP said in a statement. "Science should drive decision-making on safely reopening schools."
The AAP added that public health agencies "must make recommendations based on evidence, not politics" and said "schools in areas with high levels of COVID-19 community spread should not be compelled to reopen against the judgment of local experts. "We should leave it to health experts to tell us when the time is best to open up school buildings, and listen to educators and administrators to shape how we do it," the AAP said.
President Trump issued a call this week for all of America's schools to reopen full time and suggested Democrats want to keep them closed ahead of the November election to hurt his re-election chances. He also threatened to cut off federal funding to schools -- a power he does not have. (Read more)
- Father, we do know that children who have been away from school for too long can experience anxieties and depression far greater than adults. We pray for the children of our nation, that You would make it possible for them to socialize with their friends, and learn from adults who will teach them Your love and truth.
- "Teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age." (Matthew 28:20)
6. House chairman asks CDC boss to testify on reopening schools amid coronavirus - Fox News
Education and Labor Committee Chairman Bobby Scott, D-Va. asked the director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to testify on school safety in response to President Trump's push to reopen classrooms across the U.S.
"This is an opportunity for Subcommittee Members to engage directly with you concerning the CDC's guidance to schools on how to safely reopen as the country continues to grapple with the COVID-19 pandemic," Scott wrote in a letter Thursday.
The CDC has released coronavirus pandemic guidelines that direct schools on how to safely bring children back into the classroom which include proper sanitization of desks, social distancing, facial coverings and adequate ventilation. The closure of playgrounds and cafeterias have also been recommended.
The guidelines, which have been posted since May, angered Trump, who has pushed for schools to be reopened in order to boost the economy by getting parents back to work. "I disagree with @CDCgov on their very tough & expensive guidelines for opening schools," Trump tweeted Wednesday. "While they want them open, they are asking schools to do very impractical things. I will be meeting with them!!!" CDC Director Robert Redfield said the organization would not be changing their policies despite Trump's demands. (Read more)
- Lord, we pray that You will move to mitigate any problems with reopening the schools this fall. We once again bind and rebuke the Covid virus and command it to dissipate in the Mighty Name of Jesus.
- "For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places." (Eph. 6:12)
7. Trump says U.S.-China relationship is 'severely damaged,' phase 2 trade deal not a priority - CNBC
President Donald Trump said Friday that he isn't thinking about a possible next stage of the U.S. trade deal with China, adding that the relationship between the two nations has been "severely damaged" by the coronavirus pandemic.
"They could have stopped the plague. They could have stopped it. They didn't stop it," Trump said on Air Force One en route to Florida, according to reporters present on the plane.
Asked if that friction meant "phase two" of the U.S.-China trade deal would no longer happen, Trump said he wasn't even thinking about it and that he had many other things on his mind.
The status of the trade agreement between the two economic superpowers, the first phase of which was signed and went into effect earlier this year, has come under question amid the Covid-19 crisis. (Read more)
- Father, we pray for Your will to be done with this trade plan. Let America not be taken advantage of as it has for so long. Let a fair trade policy be drafted and actively pursued, but also we pray for President Trump's heart to be full and his mind protected against too much irrelevant data.
- "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect." (Romans 12:2)
8. Plasma therapy successes stoke high hopes - Washington Examiner
Convalescent plasma therapy has given doctors hope that an effective treatment for the coronavirus is already here, even if the evidence of its successes is anecdotal. "Whether it is effective as a treatment, I can give you anecdotal experience," said Dr. Sohail Rao, executive vice president of the DHR Health system in Texas. "It is a very safe procedure, and it is also very effective because we have seen patients who we were able to get them off the ventilator fairly quickly."
Convalescent plasma therapy is an experimental treatment in which doctors take blood from a patient who has recovered from COVID-19 and whose body has antibodies that it created to fight the virus. Doctors then take the liquid part of the blood, called plasma, and transfuse it into the patient's blood.
The therapy is not new. Physicians have been using convalescent plasma transfusion to treat infectious diseases for more than 100 years. It has not yet been clinically proven to treat the coronavirus, but the therapy has proven to be safe.
A June report published in the medical journal JAMA showed that side effects of receiving a plasma transfusion are minimal and the most common is a mild allergic reaction. Research shows that it might be most effective when given to patients early in the course of the disease. (Read more)
- Lord, we praise You that yet another medical therapy is believed to help with the virus. We are thankful to You for this avenue of grace to help people recover.
- "He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." (1 Peter 2:24)
9. 'Violent' Minnesota tornado packed 170 mph winds, NWS says - Fox News
A tornado that ripped across farmland in western Minnesota on Wednesday, killing one person and injuring three others, was one of the most powerful this year, according to forecasters.
The National Weather Service on Friday said the twister was an EF-4, packing winds up to 170 mph and causing major damage. The twister touched down around 5:08 p.m. CDT about 6.5 miles west of Ashby in Grand County before traveling 9 miles into Otter Tail County near the town of Dalton.
After initially touching down as a weak tornado, the NWS said it quickly intensified into a destructive force. A machine shop was swept from its foundation and destroyed, killing one man and injuring another person. "At one homestead, a well built two-story house was completely swept from its foundation and decimated in a widespread and distant debris field," the NWS said in its report.
A couple taking shelter at the home was injured when a vehicle and other debris were thrown into the exposed basement. (Read more)
- Lord, we pray for those who were affected by this horrific tornado. We pray for restoration of what was lost. We ask for peace and comfort for all who have been through this massive storm.
- "Restore to me the joy of your salvation, and uphold me with a willing spirit."

10. India's deadly mountain-top showdown with China could lead to more military activity at sea - Business Insider
Clashes in June between India and China high in the western Himalayas saw the first deadly encounter between their forces there in four decades. Both sides appear to be disengaging, and India's northern border, parts of which are in dispute with Pakistan and China, will remain a point of focus for its military.
But India's southern maritime approaches, where increasing Chinese naval activity was already a concern, may gain even more attention from New Delhi in the wake of those clashes.
"On the military side, I think we have to stay on guard. The situation is very fragile, even tenuous," former Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao, also former Indian ambassador to China and the US, said at an Asia Society Policy Institute event this week.
"Diplomatically, [India has to] keep our channels open with China, but at the same time, obviously, seek possibilities of closer convergence with friends and partners in the Indo-Pacific."
China is "clearly seeking to improve strategic advantage for itself through naval outreach and construction of ports and facilities," in that region, Rao added. "We know that, and all these [facilities] have clear military potential. So we need to leverage our assets, in the Indian Ocean region particularly, better." (Read more)
- Father, we pray Your mighty protection over all who encounter the Chinese military in these days of tension. We ask that common sense and wisdom from You be in motion for all.
- "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere." (James 3:17)

Monday, July 13, 2020 Cancel culture and speaking boldly
In this day and age of social media, people can say whatever they want, about whatever they want, claiming whatever they want, and need no basis of fact for it. At the same time, if people disagree with what is said, they can troll those they disagree with by name calling, labeling or boycotting. Doing this on social media is called canceling. It's the cancel culture. Free speech is OK so long as you don't say anything against what certain people believe. A real live example of cancel culture may be the tearing down of historic statues to "deconstruct" American history. Protesters are also targeting Christian symbols for destruction because they believe the monuments represent "white supremacy." Where does it end?
In his July 4 speech at Mt Rushmore, President Trump addressed the cancel culture movement, saying, "Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our Founders, deface our most sacred memorials, and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities. Many of these people have no idea why they are doing this, but some know exactly what they are doing . . . One of their political weapons is "Cancel Culture" - driving people from their jobs, shaming dissenters, and demanding total submission from anyone who disagrees. This is the very definition of totalitarianism, and it is completely alien to our culture and our values, and it has absolutely no place in the United States of America.
He continued, "In our schools, our newsrooms, even our corporate boardrooms, there is a new far-left fascism that demands absolute allegiance. If you do not speak its language, perform its rituals, recite its mantras, and follow its commandments, then you will be censored, banished, blacklisted, persecuted, and punished. It's not going to happen to us. Make no mistake: this left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American Revolution. In so doing, they would destroy the very civilization that rescued billions from poverty, disease, violence, and hunger, and that lifted humanity to new heights of achievement, discovery, and progress."
This political intolerance and ideological bigotry is designed to end America as we know it. Marxism always results in totalitarianism. We, as Christians, are in a battle over the soul of society. Cancel culture and the current rebellion against freedom of speech and religion are examples of where all this is headed. The standard of Christ is being shaken in this nation like never before. We cannot be absent in this debate. We need to speak truth in love and stand for what is right. As Paul wrote in Ephesians 6:19-20, "And for me, that utterance may be given unto me, that I may open my mouth boldly, to make known the mystery of the gospel, For which I am an ambassador in chains: that in this I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak." Let's not wait until we are in chains, for then it may be too late.

China's All-Out Assault on America: How the Communist Regime Plans to Dominate the World
America is fighting a raging pandemic, high unemployment, and explosive social unrest, all at the same time. But none of these is the greatest threat to our economic future. So what is? A superpower bully that wants to rule the world.
FBI Director Christopher Wray said Tuesday that Chinese theft of America intellectual property is so vast it is one of the greatest transfers of wealth in world history.
In a surprisingly frank speech, Wray described an all-out assault on almost every sector of the American economy.
"We've now reached the point where the FBI is opening a new China-related counter-intelligence case about every 10 hours," Wray told an audience at the Hudson Institute in Washington.
"China is engaged in a whole-of-state effort to become the world's only superpower, by any means necessary," Wray said.
Steven Mosher, author of the book, Bully of Asia: Why China's Dream is the New Threat to World Order, says, "China has now taken off the mask. It is now open about its ambitions and the world is rising up against it."
Mosher says China's aggressiveness "has accomplished in six months what it would have taken America 10 years to accomplish and that is to forge an anti-Chinese alliance out of the different nations of the Asia Pacific rim. The Philippines is backing away from China. Taiwan is beefing up it's military even more because they see that after what's happened to Hong Kong, they're next."
But regardless of its threats, Mosher says China does not want a shooting war with the United States.
"What it wants to do is it wants to use this gray area between war and peace to continue its cyberattacks, to continue its espionage in the United States and other countries, but it certainly would use force in the future if it thought it had achieved a position of dominance," he said.

BREAKING! iranian Christian's Jail Sentence for 'Insulting Islamic Sacred Beliefs' Overturned on Appeal - ChristianNews.net
Sixty-five-year-old Iranian Christian convert Ismaeil Maghrebinejad has had his three-year jail sentence for "insulting Islamic sacred beliefs" overturned on appeal.
Ismaeil was informed of the verdict yesterday by his lawyer, Farshid Roofoogaran.
In the verdict, dated 5 July, the judge at the 17th Branch of the appeal court in Shiraz, Jamshid Kashkouli, accepted Mr Roofoogaran's defence that Ismaeil had not been the originator of a social media joke insulting Islamic clerics - he had only responded with a smiley face emoji - and that anyway the clerics themselves are not considered "sacred" in Islam.

OUR GOD, OUR HELP IN AGES PAST
"Lord, You have been our dwelling place throughout all generations." (Psalm 90:1)
Lyrics
Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Our shelter from the stormy blast, And our eternal home.
Under the shadow of Thy throne Thy saints have dwelt secure; Sufficient is Thine arm alone, And our defense is sure.
Before the hills in order stood, Or earth received her frame, From everlasting Thou art God, To endless years the same.
Thy Word commands our flesh to dust, "Return, ye sons of men:" All nations rose from earth at first, And turn to earth again.
A thousand ages in Thy sight Are like an evening gone; Short as the watch that ends the night Before the rising sun.
The busy tribes of flesh and blood, With all their lives and cares, Are carried downwards by the flood, And lost in following years.
Time, like an ever rolling stream, Bears all its sons away; They fly, forgotten, as a dream Dies at the opening day.
Like flowery fields the nations stand Pleased with the morning light; The flowers beneath the mower's hand Lie withering ere 'tis night.
Our God, our help in ages past, Our hope for years to come, Be Thou our guard while troubles last, And our eternal home.

Nearly half of continental US in throes of brutal heat wave
Temperature rose to 128 Degrees F in Death Valley, California
Residents from the California valleys to the Mississippi River are bracing for temperatures near- to well-above 100 degrees Fahrenheit expected to last into mid-July.
Brutal heat has been baking the southwestern U.S. since early last week. Phoenix, Arizona, has experienced high temperatures of 110 degrees or more since July 4, and cities like Las Vegas and Bakersfield, California, soared above 100 degrees for several days.
Excessive heat warnings were put into place until Monday evening, from Southern California to southeast Arizona. Heat advisories on Saturday extended even farther east, from southern New Mexico to the Florida Gulf Coast.
A northward bend in the jet stream will continue to help keep the heat locked over the Southwest and also allow it to nudge eastward into the south-central U.S. through the middle of the week.
The mercury in Phoenix, Arizona, climbed to 116 degrees on Sunday and broke the record of 115 last set in 2009. As if record-breaking daytime high temperatures weren't enough, abnormally warm low temperatures are not offering any relief. The mercury has not fallen below 90 degrees since July 7 in Phoenix.
With a low temperature above 90 degrees in the city on Monday morning, Phoenix has tied the second longest streak for low temperatures above 90 degrees of all time for the city with 6 days. The all-time longest streak is 7 days, set from August 7-13 in 2012.
Even Palm Springs, California, got in on the record-breaking action on Sunday. Palm Springs soared to a sweltering 121 degrees on Sunday and broke the previous record of 120, last set 35 years ago.
None of those locations came close to Death Valley National Park in California, however. The mercury topped out at 128 F on Sunday shortly after 5 p.m. local time, and in fact, it never dropped below 100 as the low for the day was 100 F. (Accuweather.com)

'It Brought Spirit Back into Her': MD Firefighters Help Reunite Mother, Daughter through Nursing Home Window
CBN News] Sometimes you have to turn to the people right around you for a little support and a pick-me-up.
One Maryland woman did just that when she noticed a fire truck parked nearby.
Shirl Carmine's mother, Shirley Taylor, lives in Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, and COVID-19 has kept them from seeing each other face to face for months now.
"Me and my mother are extremely close. We've always been," Carmine told ABC News. "Normally, I would go at least twice a week to do her hair, and other times I would go and just sit and we'd watch TV or we'd play cards."
So when Carmine saw the fire truck, she thought of a plan and asked the firefighters for a little help. They agreed and dispatched their ladder truck to meet them at the nursing home.
"He said what day do you want to do it, or we could do it now. I said, 'we can do it now!' I wasn't letting the chance go by," Carmine explained.
She was overjoyed that the first responders were so accommodating. Within the hour, Carmine was onboard the ladder truck, which hoisted her up to her mother's second-floor window at the nursing home.

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
