Are We the “Fig Tree” Generation?

Are we the "Fig Tree Generation"?

Recording of Last Night's Call

Eric Teitelemn

House of David Ministries

"Now learn this parable from the fig tree: When its branch has already become tender and puts forth leaves, you know that summer is near. "So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near-at the doors! "Assuredly, I say to you, this generation will by no means pass away till all these things take place." (Matthew 24:32-34)

Eric Teitelman was our teacher tonight. Israel is the fig tree. Are we the final "fig tree" generation that will see the return of the Messiah and the final redemption?

Is the world falling apart? Or is the world falling into place?

He commented on the pattern of 70. The 70 weeks of Daniel, the 70 nations, the 70 jubilees. He talked about God's fullness of time, and that Israel is the Time Clock. It has been just over 70 years since Israel became a nation in 1948. THE FIG TREE HAS BLOSSOMED!

In segment 2, he commented on the "Deal of the Century" Peace Plan. The implementation of the plan has been put on hold for now. He encouraged us to pray against it, because it involves dividing the land of Israel.

1. Netanyahu aide said to admit US in no mood for annexation, so PM won't go ahead - Times of Israel

Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin has acknowledged in private conversations that no attention is currently being given in Washington to Israeli plans to annex up to 30 percent of the West Bank, according to a Tuesday Army Radio report.

As a result, Levin reportedly said, the controversial move will likely have to be placed on the back burner as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will not move forward without coordinating with the Trump administration.

The White House has said repeatedly that it is up to Israel to decide on annexation, but has yet to give a definitive answer as to whether it is prepared to support and recognize the unilateral annexation now of part or all of the 30% of the West Bank allocated to Israel in its peace plan.

2. Sovereignty plan talks frozen, PM won't take steps without US - Israel National News

Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's plan to apply sovereignty over parts of Judea and Samaria has been frozen for the time being, a senior Israeli official said Tuesday morning.

Yariv Levin (Likud), the Knesset Speaker and chief of the Israeli delegation negotiating with the White House on the implementation of the sovereignty plan, said in closed talks that talks with the US on the plan were not progressing at this time, adding that American officials were open to discussion on the subject at this time, Galei Tzahal's Moriah Asraf Wolberg reported Tuesday on 'Good Morning Israel' with Efi Triger.

Levin, a key Netanyahu ally, also said that Prime Minister Netanyahu would not move forward with the sovereignty plan without support from the US.

Sources close to the Knesset Speaker responded to Tuesday's report, saying that Israel never considered pursuing the sovereignty plan without US support, and that Israel is currently waiting for the US to weigh in on the plan.

3. Land of Israel Lobby beats Netanyahu to the punch on sovereignty - Israel Hayom

In what could develop into the next coalition crisis, the Knesset Land of Israel lobby presented a bill to apply Israel sovereignty in Judea and Samaria, creating an awkward situation for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, whose plans to announce the application of Israeli law to the Jordan Valley and settlements in Judea and Samaria on July 1 did not pan out as planned.

The bill was presented Monday by lobby leaders MK Haim Katz (Likud) and Bezalel Smotrich (Yamina) and calls for Israel to announce sovereignty in areas of Jewish settlement in Judea and Samaria, in accordance with wording that has been approved by the Likud Central Committee.

The bill also seeks to create a mechanism that would protect areas that do not fall under Israeli sovereignty and prevent a Palestinian or international takeover of any territory in Area C to which the bill does not apply.

The mechanism would act to prevent illegal Palestinian construction in Area C; agricultural crime; and international infrastructure and activity in Area C that is not approved by the Israeli government. In addition, it will promote the regulation of land ownership, including in the parts of Area C that lie outside the sovereignty map, and protect government-owned land through grazing, farming, or forestation.

Humanitarian needs of residents of Area C who are not Israeli citizens are also addressed in the bill, which lays down rules for construction plans for those residents, to be approved by Israel's Diplomatic Security Cabinet.

4. Promising Hebrew U / Mt. Sinai Research May Downgrade Covid-19 Threat to Common Cold Levels - Jewish Press

Could a simple drug, that has been on the market for decades, be used to treat COVID-19? A research team led by Hebrew University of Jerusalem (HU)'s Professor Yaakov Nahmias says that early research looks promising; their findings appear in this week's Cell Press' Sneak Peak.

Over the last three-months, Nahmias and Dr. Benjamin tenOever at New York's Mount Sinai Medical Center have focused on the ways in which the SARS-CoV-2 (aka, the coronavirus that's causing our current pandemic) changes patients' lungs in order to reproduce itself. Their major finding? This virus prevents the routine burning of carbohydrates. As a result, large amounts of fat accumulate inside lung cells, a condition the virus needs in order to reproduce. This new understanding of SARS CoV-2 may help explain why patients with high blood sugar and cholesterol levels are often at a particularly high risk to develop COVID-19.

Viruses are parasites that lack the ability to replicate on their own, so they take control of our cells to help accomplish that task. "By understanding how the SARS-CoV-2 controls our metabolism, we can wrestle back control from the virus and deprive it from the very resources it needs to survive," Nahmias explained.

With this information in hand, Nahmias and tenOever began to screen FDA-approved medications that interfere with the virus' ability to reproduce. In lab studies, the cholesterol-lowering drug Fenofibrate (Tricor) showed extremely promising results. By allowing lung cells to burn more fat, fenofibrate breaks the virus' grip on these cells, and prevents SARS CoV-2's ability to reproduce. In fact, within only five days of treatment, the virus almost completely disappeared.

5. Israeli Cabinet Approves $7 Billion 'Safety Net' Economic Rescue Program - Algemeiner

JNS.org - Israel's Cabinet on Monday approved the remaining elements of the "Safety Net 2020-2021" rescue plan for the country's struggling economy.

The Cabinet approved a draft law for several aspects of the plan that will require changes to legislation, as well to expand the 2020-2021 budgetary framework by NIS 24 billion ($7 billion) to pay for the plan's implementation. The draft legislation will be immediately submitted to the Knesset for approval, according to a joint statement by the Prime Minister's Office and the Finance Ministry.

The plan, which was first presented by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Israel Katz on Thursday and part of which was approved on Sunday, includes the extension of full unemployment benefits until June 2021 or until unemployment falls below 10 percent, and the payment stipends of up to NIS 4,000 per month ($1,163) to those aged 67 and over until December 2020.

Under the plan, the self-employed and business owners are also eligible for an immediate assistance stipend for May-June, 2020. This stipend, which was approved for immediate implementation on Sunday, has already been paid to over 300,000 self-employed individuals and business owners "and is expected to enter bank accounts in the coming days," according to the statement. The total amount disbursed thus far is NIS 1.8 billion ($532 million), the statement said.

6. Netanyahu, Katz's 'safety net' not what it seems - Jerusalem Post

The 2020-2021 Safety Net program of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Israel Katz that was approved on Monday is meant to offer benefits to roughly one million Israelis who are struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic.

However, it seems earlier reports that indicated a first grant of up to NIS 7,500 were misleading due to the Israel Tax Authority basing the amount of aid on reported income from 2018.

Only 128,000 people received NIS 7,500. Some 136,000 Israelis received a sum ranging from NIS 3,000 to that figure, and some 116,000 persons received NIS 3,000 or less.

Netanyahu and Katz delivered on their promise to wire funds "at the press of a button," but some people said they were low. The Safety Net plan tied paying benefits until the end-date of June 2021 or until the country's unemployment rate drops to 10% from what it currently is. There are two conflicting reports on what that figure might be.

1. 120+ Members of Congress' Send Letters of Support to CAIR - Clarion Project

According to Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), "120+" members of Congress sent the Muslim Brotherhood-linked organization letters "welcoming" their 25th anniversary gala scheduled for November 9 at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Washington, D.C.

The announcement by CAIR of this support by members of Congress follows accusations by former employees of CAIR's discriminatory and sexist practices and alleges a culture of abuse with the organization.

Lori Haidri, a former employee of the Council of American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), made the accusations in a Facebook post:

"The CAIR Sexism Documentation Project currently has 35 members, mostly women, who share their experiences of facing discrimination, and other abuses, by the nation's largest Muslim civil rights organization.

"Chapters are very capable of standing up for justice, but they look the other way and do nothing when their national leaders are the perpetrators of injustice." (Read more)

- Father, would you deal with those members of Congress who stand in support of this Islamist organization? We ask you to protect the voices and lives of those who would speak out in truth against this agency and its legislative supporters. Let the tares be winnowed, in Jesus name.

"But those who are outside God judges. Therefore, put away from yourselves the evil person." (1 Corinthians 5:13)

2. Scores of Muslim Candidates Win in Races Across the Nation - CAIR

CAIR-Philadelphia celebrates the outstanding Muslim American achievement in the November 5, 2019 elections in both Pennsylvania and across the nation. We congratulate those elected to serve their communities on their historic achievement.

In July 2019, CAIR, Jetpac and MPower Change released an updated version of their report, "The Rise of American Muslim Changemakers," documenting the 323 American Muslims who at that time ran for public office since the election of Donald Trump in 2016 and the subsequent rise in anti-Muslim bigotry. CAIR and Jetpac note that as of this posting, the number of American Muslims who have run for office since 2016 is 365. (Read more)

(Note: this article was published in 2019, but this trend is still happening now.)

- Father, we call for an end to the muslim rise to power in our nation's governments. We will not be governed by islam, in Jesus name. Grant us the wisdom and strategies to see these people saved or removed from office.

"But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With men it is impossible, but not with God, for with God all things are possible.'" (Mark 10:27)

3. Ghislaine Maxwell Pleads Not Guilty in Jeffrey Epstein-Related Sex Abuse Case - Hollywood Reporter

Jeffrey Epstein's former girlfriend will remain behind bars until trial after she was denied bail Tuesday on charges she recruited girls for the financier to sexually abuse more than two decades ago. Two Epstein accusers implored the judge to keep British socialite Ghislaine Maxwell detained after she pleaded not guilty to the charges during a video court hearing in Manhattan.

Maxwell, 58, has been held without bail since her July 2 arrest at her million-dollar New Hampshire estate, where prosecutors say she refused to open the door for FBI agents, who busted through to find that she had retreated to an interior room.

She was charged with recruiting at least three girls, one as young as 14, for Epstein to abuse between 1994 and 1997. An indictment alleged that she helped groom the victims to endure sexual abuse and was sometimes there when Epstein abused them. It also alleged that she lied during a 2016 deposition in a civil case stemming from Epstein's abuse of girls and women. (Read more)

- Thank You Jesus!!! for exposing this woman's whereabouts and Thank You Jesus!!! for the judge doing the right thing to keep her in prison until her trial. Let justice roll for the people who've been abused by this woman.

4. Professor charged over scheme to use $4M in US grant money to conduct research for China - Fox News

An Ohio State University professor with ties to China is charged with using more than $4 million in U.S. grant money to develop rheumatology and immunology expertise for the Chinese government, according to an indictment unsealed Thursday.

Song Guo Zheng, 57, was arrested on May 22 at an airport in Anchorage, Alaska while preparing to board a charter flight to China, the U.S. Department of Justice said in a press release.

At the time of his arrest, Zheng was carrying three large bags, filed electronic devices, expired Chinese passports for his family, deeds for a property in China, among other items, the DOJ said. (Read more)

5. Biden campaign adopts carbon-free power by 2035 in $2T environment plan - The Hill

Former Vice President Joe Biden will aim to make electricity generation carbon free by 2035 as part of a $2 trillion climate and infrastructure plan should he win the White House in November.

The plan, unveiled Tuesday, comes as an addition to the Democratic candidate's existing climate plan, which calls for a $1.7 million federal investment as the left wing of the party has sought to push him farther on environmental issues.

Biden's new proposal also includes investing in 500,000 electric vehicle charging stations, creating a new climate research agency and halving the carbon footprint of buildings by 2035, including by upgrading 4 million buildings. (Read more)

6. Judge lifts restraining order on Mary Trump on eve of book release - Axios

A New York judge on Monday lifted the temporary restraining order that had prevented Mary Trump from publicly discussing a tell-all book set to be released July 14 about her uncle, President Trump.

Mary Trump, a trained psychologist, portrays the president as a dangerous sociopath and alleges in her book that Donald Trump's sister Maryanne had concerns about her brother's fitness for office, among other things.

- The president's younger brother Robert Trump filed a lawsuit against their niece, the daughter of their deceased elder brother Fred Trump Jr., to prevent the tell-all book from being published.

- However, the restraining order did not apply to publisher Simon & Schuster, which planned to go ahead with publication regardless of the lawsuit. The judge's decision will now allow Mary Trump to do interviews promoting the book. (Read more)

- Dear Lord, we pray that this tell-all book will be taken for what it is--a look at President Trump through the eyes of jealousy and envy--written by a bitter family member. We pray the public will received it as such and we pray for the healing of the Lord to come to this niece of the President.

- "Deliver me from my enemies, O my God; defend me from those who rise up against me." (Psalms 59:1)

7. Trump administration drops plan to bar international students from US - Boston Globe

Facing fierce opposition, the US Department of Homeland Security Tuesday announced that it has withdrawn visa guidelines that barred international students from the US if all of their classes were to be conducted online this fall.

The surprise announcement came during a federal district court hearing Tuesday in a lawsuit filed by Harvard University and MIT seeking a temporary injunction of the guidelines.

The decision means that the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement's decision in March to allow international students to continue their studies remotely without impacting their visa status due to the coronavirus remains in place. It is unclear what this means, however, to students whose visas are expiring and to new students who are applying for visas and whose classes may be entirely online. (Read more)

- Father, as we see You shaking the whole world, including the education establishments, we pray for mercy where it is deserved. We thank You that this will bless those who should be in our country and who have good intentions in line with Your plans for their lives. We also pray that this ruling will sift out those who have evil intentions for our country and should not stay here. May those who stay here come to see that all our blessings flow from You alone.

"The words 'once more' indicate the removing of what can be shaken-that is, created things-so that what cannot be shaken may remain." (Hebrews 12:27)

8. US closes 5 military bases in Afghanistan as part of Taliban peace deal - Fox News

The U.S. closed five military bases in Afghanistan as part of an agreement signed with the Taliban more than four months ago, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News.

The deal promised to withdraw all U.S. forces from the bases in the first 135 days, a milestone met on Tuesday, President Trump's special representative to the talks, Zalmay Khalilzad, said.

"The U.S. has worked hard to carry out the 1st phase of its commitments under the Agreement, including to reduce forces & depart five bases. NATO troops have come down in proportional numbers," Khalilzad said on Twitter. (Read more)

- Father God, we took the risk in 2001 and entered what was known as the "unwinnable war"; now we need an exit plan 19 years later and ask for Your wisdom. We thank you for the brave men and women who served there and pray their labor not be in vain. We ask for Your kingdom to come and Your will to be done, as we attempt this withdrawal of troops. Send angels to protect those still stationed there, and may the prayers and seeds planted in Afghanistan over the years by Your people bring forth much good fruit in the years ahead.

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord. (Psalm 33:12)

9. Hillary Clinton: We Have to Be Ready if Trump Doesn't 'Go Quietly' - The Daily Beast

Trevor Noah returned from a two-week July 4 break with a very big guest: Hillary Clinton. The Daily Show host began his remote interview by asking the former Secretary of State what she's been up to during quarantine.

But things turned more serious when Noah asked Clinton how she's feeling about the 2020 race. "It seems like America is on an ominous path to a November date when there is going to be a lot of questions in and around the election," the host said.

Clinton argued that Republicans will try to "prevent as many people who think they won't vote for them from voting," specifically young people, African Americans and Hispanics. But beyond that, Noah wanted to know if Clinton thinks Trump will try to undermine the legitimacy of the entire election if he loses. "Well, I think it is a fair point to raise as to whether or not, if he loses, he's going to go quietly or not," she said. "And we have to be ready for that. But there have been so many academic studies and other analyses, which point out that it's just an inaccurate, fraudulent claim." (Read more)

- Father God, please save Hillary from herself as well as from the devil; Hillary did not "go quietly." Lord we continue to hear her vitriolic speech, lies and bitter root judgments and note her continuing alliance with the globalists and their agenda. We ask that You take away her heart of stone, uncover what is still in the dark, and counter the corruption with justice. Please sweep away her influence, and draw her to Your love and salvation.

See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many. (Hebrews 12:15)

10. California Gov. Newsom orders statewide closures, including indoor restaurant operations - USA Today

California Gov. Gavin Newsom announced Monday a list of business sectors that will be required to close as the number of coronavirus cases continue to increase substantially across the state.

All counties are required to close indoor operations of restaurants, wineries, tasting rooms, movie theaters, family entertainment centers, zoos, museums, card rooms and all bars.

The 30 counties that are on the state's targeted engagement list are ordered to close additional businesses. The targeted counties, which account for 80% of the state's population, are also required to close indoor operations of fitness centers, places of worship, offices for noncritical sectors, personal hair services, and indoor malls. (Read more)

- Father, we see chaos and confusion in many states and places as we seem to be going " 'round the mountain" again. We ask for GODLY wisdom for our local, state, and federal officials, and may this knowledge and wisdom be implemented accordingly and taken to heart by the citizens. Most of all, Abba, You love us so much and know we, as a nation, are lost without You. May the people of the U.S. fall on their faces before You in humility and a lasting change of heart.

Return, [United States], to the Lord your God. Your sins have been your downfall! (Hosea 14:1)

The Daily Jot

Tuesday, July 14, 2020

Speaking boldly amid cancel culture

In response to Monday's Daily Jot, many readers agreed that Christians and conservatives must reassert themselves in the national dialogue, but many are asking where and how. One Jot reader asked, "Besides writing our government and voting, what more can we do?" These are good questions. They are not easily answered because the "Church" over the past few decades focused itself inward with a mixture of a support group and country club mentality where in most cases relationship building outside of the four walls (or mega buildings) is not done, nor hardly encouraged. The "Church" has left America to itself and has become a self-improvement machine emphasizing emotional, self-indulgence and extra-biblical doctrines.

Now when it has become obvious that the American society is no longer following a respect for the Lord and the tenets of the Bible, the church infrastructure and focus must change in order to affect change. For too long, this "club" atmosphere at church has ignored the relational aspects of influence. It has also taught a "bud-lite" version of what it takes to be a Christian. Now, I know that many reading this will get all defensive about their churches and their pastors, but this is also part of the issue. We are more likely to defend, rather than question the approach because pastors and leadership have taught that you are not to question the pastor or the leadership.

What is it that Peter and the other apostles answered the high priest and said in Acts 4:29, "We ought to obey God rather than men"? Too much following of men these days and not enough following God as led by the Holy Spirit-just saying. Christians need to get outside the church, beyond the buildings and the parking lots and start making relationships with people that aren't part of the club. We have to lead by the example of Christ, who did not jam religion down people's throats, or try to force a brand of doctrinal morality upon people. He talked to them. He listened to them. He asked questions. He cared about how they felt, their condition in life, their physical and spiritual well-being. This is how one builds relationships and, in turn, influence.

What can we do? We have to show the love of Christ to others. In order to do that, we have to get outside the club and be intentional about our mission. The life of Christ was not about improving himself or the wild, crazy stuff that we humans do to make us feel better and to show how spiritual we are, but as he said in John 10:10, "The thief comes not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." The thief is out there and he is wreaking havoc. We have the answer in Christ. We speak with both our voices and our actions. It's about relationships, heart to heart interaction, and leading by example. The changes we seek won't happen overnight.

Partial Victory at SCOTUS

Partial Victory at Supreme Court - Critical Next Steps

Allan E. Parker, President

The Justice Foundation

Dear Sara,

Despite the almost overwhelming sense of loss when we did not get a complete victory in the Louisiana abortion case, a few days later the Supreme Court did give us a partial victory in two Indiana abortion cases.

In the first case, Operation Outcry Women Injured By Abortion and Melinda Thybault, on behalf of the then 161,000 Signers of The Moral Outcry Petition had filed a brief in the Indiana Sonogram case. It was our third Moral Outcry Brief at the Supreme Court. Persistence pays off! The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals (the Court below) had struck down an Indiana Sonogram law which required abortionists to show the woman a sonogram before birth, she then had to wait 18 hours to have an abortion.

The Justice Foundation, on behalf of our clients above, filed a brief in this case back in 2019 asking the Supreme Court to reverse the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals Court and uphold the Indiana Sonogram law. While the Court did not go that far, it did grant certiorari in the Indiana Sonogram case which only happens in very few cases. That alone is a victory. The Court then vacated the judgment striking down the law, and remanded (or sent back) the case to the 7th Circuit Court of Appeals for it to decide whether the Indiana Sonogram law was unconstitutional in light of the decision in June Medical (the Louisiana Abortion case).

Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospitalized

Ruth Bader Ginsburg admitted to hospital for 'treatment of a possible infection,' Supreme Court says

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was admitted to a hospital in Baltimore on Tuesday "for treatment of a possible infection," the court said in a statement.

"She underwent an endoscopic procedure at Johns Hopkins this afternoon to clean out a bile duct stent that was placed last August," the statement said. "The justice is resting comfortably and will stay in the hospital for a few days to receive intravenous antibiotic treatment."

The statement said Ginsburg was initially evaluated at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, D.C. on Monday night after experiencing fever and chills.

It's the latest hospitalization for Ginsburg, 87, who has faced a slew of health conditions in the past.

During a White House press conference, a reporter told the president about the hospitalization.

"I wish her the best," President Trump said. (Source: Fox News)

- Father God, we, too, "wish her the best." We ask that, if it be Your will, she will recover from this illness, and especially that her heart would be softened to know and receive her Messiah. We ask in Your Name, amen.

AIPAC: Action Needed

ACT NOW:

Oppose Senate Action that Undermines Israel's Security

Urge Senators to Oppose the Van Hollen Amendment Restricting Security Assistance to Israel

BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Sen. Chris Van Hollen (D-MD)-along with twelve other senators-recently introduced an amendment to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) that:

- Undermines Israel's security: It prohibits Israel from using U.S.-made equipment to defend itself in a variety of foreseeable scenarios and dangerously restricts where Israel can place lifesaving missile defense systems like Iron Dome.

- Politicizes U.S. security assistance to Israel: It contradicts President Obama's 2016 Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Israel, which pledges increased security assistance to Israel without political restrictions.

- Hurts the chances for peace: It emboldens Israel's enemies and causes ordinary Israelis to question the wisdom of taking further risks for peace by raising doubt on America's steadfast support for the Jewish state.

Urge your senators to oppose the Van Hollen amendment.

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

BRINGING IN THE SHEAVES

"He who goes out weeping, carrying seed to sow, will return with songs of joy, carrying sheaves with him." (Psalm 126:6)

Lyrics

Sowing in the morning, sowing seeds of kindness,
Sowing in the noontide and the dewy eve;
Waiting for the harvest, and the time of reaping,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Refrain

Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves,
Bringing in the sheaves, bringing in the sheaves,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves,

Sowing in the sunshine, sowing in the shadows,
Fearing neither clouds nor winter's chilling breeze;
By and by the harvest, and the labor ended,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Refrain

Going forth with weeping, sowing for the Master,
Though the loss sustained our spirit often grieves;
When our weeping's over, He will bid us welcome,
We shall come rejoicing, bringing in the sheaves.

Sunken medieval Italian village may resurface for 1st time since 1994

The fictional city of Atlantis has long stirred a fascination with underwater ruins and the search for submerged cities. Possibly within the next year, Europe will see one of its submerged cities resurface.

Every few decades or so, the submerged 12th-century Italian village Fabbriche di Careggine in the Lucca province of Tuscany breaches the surface of Lake Vagli. The town could resurface once more in 2021, more than 25 years after it last saw the light of day.

The High Middle Aged village was built in 1270 and stood on dry land up until 1946 when its inhabitants were relocated to the nearby town Vagli di Sotto and Fabbriche di Careggine was submerged to build a hydroelectric dam. The Atlantean town has fully surfaced at least four times since then -- in 1958, 1974, 1983 and 1994 -- when the reservoir, managed by the energy company ENEL, was drained for maintenance work on the dam.

The community structures of the town -- including stone homes, a bridge, the San Teodoro church and a cemetery -- were still mostly preserved, even underwater. CNN reports that Lorenza Giorgi, the daughter of a former mayor of the municipality Ilio Domenico Giorgi, wrote on Facebook that the lake could be drained next year.

"Reliable sources say that next year, in 2021, the lake of Vagli will be emptied," she wrote.

Fabbriche di Careggine is not the only city to be claimed by a body of water. Many more natural examples come from the ocean swallowing cities whole, akin to tales of the city of Atlantis.

Cleopatra's Palace sat on Antirhodos, once an island in the eastern harbor of Alexandria, Egypt. It is thought to have succumbed to a tsunami following an undersea earthquake near Crete on July 21, 365 A.D. Current geologists estimate the earthquake had been a magnitude 8 or higher. 'It Brought Spirit Back into Her': MD Firefighters Help Reunite Mother, Daughter through Nursing Home Window

One Maryland woman did just that when she noticed a fire truck parked nearby. Shirl Carmine's mother, Shirley Taylor, lives in Alice B. Tawes Nursing Home in Crisfield, and COVID-19 has kept them from seeing each other face to face for months now. "Me and my mother are extremely close. We've always been," Carmine told ABC News. "Normally, I would go at least twice a week to do her hair, and other times I would go and just sit and we'd watch TV or we'd play cards." So when Carmine saw the fire truck, she thought of a plan and asked the firefighters for a little help. They agreed and dispatched their ladder truck to meet them at the nursing home. "He said what day do you want to do it, or we could do it now. I said, 'we can do it now!' I wasn't letting the chance go by," Carmine explained.

She was overjoyed that the first responders were so accommodating. Within the hour, Carmine was onboard the ladder truck, which hoisted her up to her mother's second-floor window at the nursing home. The mother and daughter were able to have a face to face reunion. "I just told her I loved her so much and I miss her, and I can't wait to have coffee with her and I want to see her," Carmine said. Carmine's daughter, Jess wrote in a Facebook post, "None of this would have been possible if it was not for some of the members of the Fire department. To see the smile on these ladies' faces and see life come back to my Grandma's eyes, it is absolutely beautiful!"

Even though it was a quick visit, Carmine felt that the brief encounter brought her mother hope and encouragement. "I think it brought so much spirit back into her, like life into her . . . she had so much life in her eyes, it was amazing," she added.

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
