The First Debate
Doug Schoen: First Presidential Debate -- Here's who won on style and substance

The first presidential debate between President Trump and former Vice President Joe Biden has concluded. Following the night, the biggest takeaway is that there were no surprises, and nothing happened that will change any attitudes, cause either candidate to gain or lose any votes, or move any undecided voters one way or the other.
Indeed, while the debate was contentious, and at times became personal, it lacked any real substance that could change attitudes in any meaningful way.
Given the level of back-and-forth between the candidates, the substance of the candidates' answers was often lost and took a back seat to their style of argumentation and command of the room.
Though, in terms of style, in my view, President Trump was the clear winner-Trump was in command of the conversation, in control of the discussion, and if not presidential, certainly more in command.
Biden, on the other hand, became exasperated at times in the face of Trump's stop-at-nothing strategy-as the president spoke over both Biden and the moderator-and Biden even leveled personal attacks on Trump, calling him a "liar," and a "clown."
In terms of actual substance, however, the night was a draw.

Focus on Israel
1.The six-step exit strategy - Jerusalem Post
Unlike during the first coronavirus closure, the government hopes to use the one month or more of restricted movement to implement a slow and strategic exit strategy.
The first formal plan known to be presented to the government was designed by Prof. Eli Waxman and his team of Technion-Israel Institute of Technology scientists. They advised the National Security Council during the first wave.
Waxman provided The Jerusalem Post with a copy of the six-part plan, which does not involve any loosening of restrictions before October 12 and likely even a couple weeks afterward. The plan also involves only opening schools for grades five and up after January 1.
2. Netanyahu: Preemptive strike against Iran still an option - Jerusalem Post
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned that Israel has not ruled out a preemptive strike against Iran, during a memorial service on Tuesday for those who fell in the 1973 Yom Kippur War.
"A preemptive strike is a difficult thing to do," said Netanyahu. "I know that if Iran wants to base itself in the North, we are ready to fight them. This is a direct lesson of the Yom Kippur War. We will do everything in order to protect the State of Israel; we are not ruling out a preliminary strike."
"This is the power on our side," added the prime minister. It is "the power that brought peace with Jordan, Egypt, agreements with the UAE and Bahrain. The power that will bring peace with additional states. The power and perseverance will allow us to handle the coronavirus crisis."
3. Egypt-PA crisis looms as Abbas moves closer to Turkey, Qatar and Hamas - Jerusalem Post
Egypt is upset with the Palestinian Authority leadership for reportedly undercutting Cairo's role as a main player in the Palestinian arena, particularly with regards to ending the Fatah-Hamas rivalry, Palestinian sources said on Monday.
The Egyptians are also said to be disturbed by the recent rapprochement between the PA, Qatar and Turkey.
The PA leadership, on the other hand, is reported to be "disappointed" with the Egyptians for supporting the recent normalization agreements between Israel, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain. The Palestinians have accused the two Gulf states of "stabbing the Palestinian people in the back" and "betraying al-Aqsa Mosque, Jerusalem and the Palestinian issue."
4. 'Here's Beirut's next explosion': Netanyahu blows whistle on secret Hezbollah 'arms depot' - World Israel News
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu exposed the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah for maintaining a "secret arms depot" in a residential neighborhood of Beirut, warning it could cause another tragic explosion in the Lebanese capital.
In an address to the U.N. General Assembly on Tuesday, Netanyahu showed maps purportedly showing the missile depot's location next to a gas station and residential housing. He also showed what he said was a picture of the entrance to the depot.
"Here's where the next explosion will take place, right here," he said.
Addressing the Lebanese people, he said: "You've got to act now, you've got to protest this, because if this thing explodes, it's another tragedy. You should tell them, 'Tear these depots down.'"
5. IDF Warns Israel Will 'Operate Extensively' Against Precision Guided Missile Sites in Lebanon - Jewish Press
Lebanon's citizens are once again being used as human shields, the IDF warned Tuesday night, following the address to the United Nations General Assembly by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in which he revealed the exact locations of secret Hezbollah precision guided missile (PGM) factories and weapons warehouses embedded within civilian neighborhoods in Beirut.
In its own lengthy statement, the IDF provided additional information about the three Hezbollah sites being used to manufacture the precision guided missiles in the heart of Beirut.
"Lately, various explosions occurred in populated areas in Lebanese territory. Among these explosions is the one which occurred last week, in which a weapons warehouse located in Ain Qana (neighborhood) exploded," the IDF said. "These explosions demonstrate how the Hezbollah terror organization is using Lebanese civilians as human shields.

1. California Gov. Newsom signs law requiring transgender prison inmates to be housed based on gender identity - Fox News
A new law signed by California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Saturday requires the state to house transgender inmates in prisons based on their gender identity. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation houses men and women in separate facilities, and transgender inmates often are housed based on their biological sex. Advocates have argued that this is dangerous, particularly for transgender women housed in male facilities.
The law says officers must ask inmates privately during the intake process if they identify as transgender, nonbinary or intersex. Those inmates can then request placement in a facility that houses either men or women. The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation cannot deny requests solely because of inmates' anatomy, sexual orientation or "a factor present" among other inmates at the facility, the law says.
Requests can be denied, however, because of a "management or security concerns." If a request is denied, the state must give the inmate a "meaningful opportunity" to object. If inmates raise concerns about their health or safety, the law says the state must reassess. The law also requires officers to address transgender inmates based on the pronouns of their choice. And it requires officers to search inmates based on the search policy of their gender identity. (Read more)

2. Fauci backpedals on COVID immunity theory he previously touted - Just The News
In a testy exchange with Kentucky Republican Sen. Rand Paul at a Senate hearing last week, Dr. Anthony Fauci distanced himself from his earlier support of an encouraging COVID-19 immunity theory. Fauci, who has headed the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) since 1984 and has played a pivotal role in the federal response to the coronavirus, was appearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee.
At the hearing Wednesday, Fauci at one point got into an argument with Paul, who argued in part that New York City had developed a degree of herd immunity sufficient to prevent another explosion of COVID-19 cases there.
Some scientists have claimed that possibly a majority of the population has "some degree" of immunity to COVID-19 due to T cells developed from earlier, milder coronaviruses.
Testifying on July 31 before a House coronavirus response committee, Fauci stressed the importance of pursuing that research. It is not clear what motivated Fauci's more pessimistic tone on Wednesday. Neither the NIAID nor contacts in Fauci's office returned requests for comment on the matter. (Read more)

3. Biden campaign's Texas Political Director Implicated in Ballot Harvesting Scheme - American Greatness
A Biden Campaign operative in Texas is attempting to rig the 2020 election with the help of others in a massive ballot harvesting scheme, according to two private investigators who testified under oath that they have "video evidence, documentation and witnesses" to prove it. With the help of mass mail-in ballots, the illegal ballot harvesting operation could harvest 700,000 ballots, one Harris County Democrat operative allegedly bragged.
The investigators-a former FBI agent and former police officer-claim that Biden's Texas Political Director Dallas Jones and his cohorts have been "hoarding mail-in and absentee ballots" and ordering operatives to them fill out for people in Harris County illegally, "including dead people, homeless people, and nursing home residents in the 2020 presidential election," Patrick Howley of the National File reported.
Mark A. Aguirre and Charles F. Marler provided sworn affidavits as part of a class-action lawsuit in the Texas Supreme Court, Steven Hotze, M.D. et al., against Harris County and the state of Texas. According to the National File, the ongoing private investigation is working with law enforcement. (Read more)

4. Minneapolis Police 'Looking Into' Explosive 'Voter Fraud' Allegations Following Project Veritas Video Involving Ilhan Omar Campaign - The Daily Wire
The Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) announced on Monday afternoon that it is "looking into" explosive "allegations of voter fraud" following a video that was released yesterday by Project Veritas that involves a campaign worker for Democrat Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN).
An investigation from Project Veritas purports to show that "Omar is engaging in illegal ballot harvesting and a cash-for-ballots scheme in her district in Minneapolis," Newsweek reported. "The group, which has targeted mainly liberal groups with 'sting' operations, posted a video late on Sunday showing what it claims is evidence of an illegal effort to harvest absentee ballots."
The video shows Liban Mohamed, brother of Minneapolis city council member Jamal Osman, saying in a Snapchat video: "Just today we got 300 for Jamal Osman. I have 300 ballots in my car right now. Numbers don't lie. You can see my car is full. All these here are absentee ballots. Look, all these are for Jamal Osman."
Newsweek added:
An anonymous person, identified as a former Minneapolis political worker, told Project Veritas that Omar's campaign deputy district director Ali Isse Gainey was coordinating ballot harvesting from elderly people in Charles Horn Towers, a housing complex in the city, before the Minnesota primary on August 8. 5. Joe Biden Exploited S-Corporation Loophole to Avoid Payroll Tax - Brietbart
The establishment media is all aflutter Monday after a New York Times story over the weekend about incumbent GOP President Donald Trump's tax records, but it turns out Democrat candidate former Vice President Joe Biden used a series of tax code loopholes to avoid paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes over the years.
Back in August, the Wall Street Journal's Chris Jacobs exposed how the Biden family structured what is called an "S-Corp" to avoid paying hundreds of thousands of dollars in taxes. In it, the Journal details how the Bidens set up an S-Corporation to avoid paying more than half a million dollars in taxes they would have otherwise owed.
"According to their tax returns, in 2017 and 2018 the Bidens and his wife Jill avoided payroll taxes on nearly $13.3 million in income from book royalties and speaking fees. They did so by classifying the income as S-corporation profits rather than taxable wages."
Jacobs continued in his expose by noting the corporation the Bidens established to avoid paying the payroll taxes on millions of dollars in income amounts to more than half a million dollars in taxes that Joe and Jill Biden did not pay. (Read more)

We see Vice President Biden talking as if he is standing up for Social Security when he is actively seeking to pay less into the system for others. 6. Brad Parscale 'is under investigation for stealing up to $40M from Trump's campaign - The Daily Mail
Donald Trump's demoted campaign boss Brad Parscale is under investigation for 'stealing' between $25-$40 million from Trump's 2020 presidential campaign, well-placed sources exclusively told DailyMail.com. The 44-year-old is also being investigated for 'pocketing' nearly another $10 million from the Republican National Committee, the insiders added.
The revelation comes as Parscale was involuntarily committed to a hospital by Fort Lauderdale police on Sunday following a concerning episode at his $2.4 million Florida home. DailyMail.com revealed on Monday that his wife Candice Parscale was seen screaming and fleeing the home in just her bikini, telling a passerby: 'I think my husband just killed himself'.
As many as 20 police cars and boats swarmed the waterfront property after the distraught wife told cops she heard a revolver being cocked and a 'loud boom' after Parscale began 'ranting and raving'. Candice told police that Parscale had been 'stressed out for the past two weeks and has made suicidal comments throughout the week to shoot himself', according to an officer's report.
Steve Guest, the RNC Rapid Response Director, said in a statement to DailyMail.com: 'This report is categorically false. There is no audit or investigation of Brad at the RNC.' (Read more)

7. Joe Biden releases 2019 tax returns ahead of presidential debate - CNBC
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden and running mate Kamala Harris released their 2019 tax returns on Tuesday, just hours before the first presidential debate between Biden and President Donald Trump.
The returns show that Biden and his wife, Jill, reported $944,737 in taxable income last year and paid $299,346, or a 31% tax rate, in federal income taxes.
Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff reported $3,018,127 in taxable income, the majority of it via Emhoff's partnership at the global law firm DLA Piper. They paid federal income taxes of $1,185,628, or an effective tax rate of 39%.
The release was a strategic move, coming less than 48 hours after The New York Times published a bombshell investigation based on more than a decade's worth of Trump's tax returns, showing that he paid just $750 in individual federal income taxes in 2016 and 2017.(Read more)

8. Biden campaign creates 'Trump tax calculator' after NYT report - The Hill
Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden's campaign on Tuesday released a "Trump Tax Calculator" in response to reports that President Trump paid $750 in income tax in 2016 and 2017.
"Do you pay more or less in federal income taxes than our 'billionaire' President? Use this calculator to find out," the site reads. The tool invites users to enter the amount they paid in 2017 and produces the number minus $750.
"Mad? Us too. Join our campaign to elect Joe Biden and make 'billionaires' like Donald Trump pay their fair share," the site adds.
Trump has since attacked the Times' reporting and defended his financial practices but has not refuted any of the findings, claiming the audit prevents him from releasing his full tax returns. Individuals under audit are free to release their tax returns under the law. (Read more)
- Father, it appears that this "revelation" from the NYT is either manufactured or illegally obtained and released, likely, by someone who has access to the Trumps' tax documents at the accounting firm used by the Trumps or by someone who illegally aquired the tax records from within the IRS. We pray that the authorities would quickly determine who is responsible for the leak of these records. May the voting public note the foul tactics of Biden's campaign and realize that any numbers reported may be false and are totally out of context. May justice be done and truth be told, quickly please, in Jesus name!

9. Trump gets third 2020 Nobel Peace Prize nomination - Fox News
President Trump received his third 2020 Nobel Peace Prize nomination in September, this time from a group of Australian law professors.
"What he has done with the Trump Doctrine is that he has decided he would no longer have America involved in endless wars, wars which achieve nothing but the killing of thousands of young Americans and enormous debts imposed on America," Australian legal scholar David Flint told Sky News Australia on Sunday. "He's reducing America's tendency to get involved in any and every war."
Flint praised the president's role in brokering a peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates (UAE.) (Read more)

10. Pelosi Letter Warns Democrats Of A Possible 'Stolen' Presidential Election - Says Congress Could Decide Outcome - Daily Caller
Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi sent a letter to her Democratic colleagues on Sunday warning them that the 2020 Presidential election could be "stolen" from them, adding that it is possible Congress determines the outcome of the election.
In a Sunday letter to House Democrats, Pelosi mentioned they must win enough seats in the House in order to ensure the presidential election can be handled by them if there are any issues. Fox News reported that the 12th Amendment says congressional delegations decide the next president if neither receives the 270 Electoral College vote majority in order to win the election.
In the letter, Pelosi mentions the delegations, saying if Democrats do not win big in November, the election could be compromised, according to Fox News. "We must achieve that majority of delegations or keep the Republicans from doing so," Pelosi said in the letter. "Because we cannot leave anything to chance, House Majority PAC is doing everything it can to win more delegations for Democrats. It's sad we have to have to plan this way, but it's what we must do to ensure the election is not stolen." (Read more)

Un-presidential debate
What was that? It looked more like a couple of toddlers having a fit over something, and the parents lost total control. Last night's Presidential debate was anything but presidential. Chris Wallace of Fox News tried to host the event. He was an utter failure, losing control of the format, siding politics against President Trump with his "commentary" type questions, and not holding any sense of decorum befitting a presidential event. President Trump, while making his points, was a man appearing to fire off the pent up frustration of being lied about and attacked over the past four years. Joe Biden acted childish, and looked as if he didn't really know what was going on-confusing topics and not completing sentences.
In short, the debate was a fast frame microcosm of the past four years. Biden did what the Democratic Party has done all along-accuse Trump relentlessly of what the Democrats have been doing. He was smug, arrogant and talked over the President throughout the debate. Declaring, "I am the Democratic Party," Biden called the president a "clown," a "racist," a "fool," a "liar," and asked "will you just shut up, man?" Biden touted the benefits of the Green New Deal, and then said he didn't support it, that he had the "Biden" deal. Saying "here's the deal" repeatedly, Biden contradicted himself a lot. At one time, he started talking about his son Beau when it was his son Hunter's business dealings that were being discussed.
President Trump came in hot. From the onset, he refused to allow Biden's falsehoods and went about "correcting" him real time. And there was a lot to correct. Biden lied about his son Hunter using the Biden vice presidency to enrich the Biden's. He also made false claims about crime, the economy, and the Supreme Court nominee. Biden actually said that Antifa was not an organization, but rather an idea-tell that to the homeowners and businessmen who lost everything when that "idea" burned them out in Portland, Seattle, New York and other places. No, there was a lot to correct or Wallace would have just let it stand. It seems, though, Trump often came across angry. He is definitely a fighter.
The one thing that came out of the debate that was glaring: Chris Wallace, as a representative of the news media, showed that the media is part of the problem America faces. The content of his questions, the way they were asked each candidate, show implicit bias. At times, Wallace even got into a debate with Trump on issues, not just whether Trump should allow Biden to continue to lie. My takeaway on the debate was that it was hard to watch, it was indicative of the state of our nation, it didn't change my mind, and I'm not sure I will watch any of the rest of them. It was hard to sleep after listening to that morass. 1 Corinthians 13:1 comes to mind: "Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal." That said, enough said.

In Shasta County, Sheriff Eric Magrini said that three people died after the Zogg Fire exploded in size, jumping from a few hundred acres Sunday afternoon to 15,000 less than 24 hours later.
Magrini did not provide additional details about the victims, saying that their next of kin still need to be notified. But he pleaded with residents to heed evacuation orders.
"This is fast-moving," he said. "When you hear that order, evacuate immediately."
According to the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection, or Cal Fire, the blaze, which ignited southwest of the city of Redding, had no containment on Monday afternoon.
Five hundred structures were threatened by the blaze, a CalFire spokesman said earlier. He added that reports of damaged and destroyed buildings have not been confirmed by the department.
North of the San Francisco Bay Area, in Napa and Sonoma counties, the Glass Fire rapidly scorched more than 36,000 acres and is zero percent contained, according to Cal Fire Division Chief Ben Nichols. It started early Sunday in Napa Valley and roared west overnight, merging with two other fires as it burned through vineyards and buildings.
At least 8,500 structures are threatened by it, according to NBC Bay Area. No injuries or deaths have been confirmed, Nichols said, though he added that he'd heard reports of burned residents. (NBC News) Read more and view photos here.

A 'Window' for the Gospel as Sudan's New Gov't Moves Away From Islam and Toward Democracy
Two million people have died and millions remain homeless in Sudan following three decades of Civil War and efforts to resist Islamic Sharia law. Now that has ended, bringing new hope for the Sudanese people. For thirty years, CBN News has reported extensively in order to raise awareness of their plight. And our stories have inspired American Christians to provide much-needed help. The people of South Sudan gained independence from the Islamic north in 2011, but the struggle continued for others - like the people of the Nuba Mountains. Christians in the north suffered imprisonment and Islamists destroyed churches. A military coup brought change in 2019 with the removal of dictator Omar al-Bashir, resulting in a pledge to transition the country to democracy and free elections.
Hardwired Global President Tina Ramirez said, "Enough is enough is what the people have been saying for a number of years, and finally they have had their way. I think the real challenge though is going to be if it sticks." In late August, several rebel and political groups signed a peace agreement, ending the Civil War and moving Sudan closer to democracy and freedom. The transitional government abolished the death penalty for "apostates" - a term used for people who leave Islam.
Also, the government moved to separate the state from religion which meant Islam would no longer be the basis of law in Sudan. Todd Nettleton, chief of media relations for Voice of the Martyrs, says Sudanese Christians feel they now have a window of opportunity for ministry. "Their attitude is, 'We don't know how long this window is going to stay open, so right now it's open. Let's go 100 miles an hour and minister and work on behalf of the kingdom of Christ.' So, they see this as a real opportune moment for gospel work in Sudan," Nettleton said. But, Ramirez is concerned about the prospects for lasting change and says winning the war may be easier than winning the peace. "Even though Bashir is not there, the military rulers that held him in power for more than three decades are still there and are the ones negotiating this peace," she said. "And so, the real proof will be in the next few years if it enters into the real permanent constitution after this transitional government." (CBN) Read more
