Prayer and Repentance in Our Nation’s Capital
'The Return' and Prayer March Bathe Nation's Capital in Prayer & Repentance
Why did America need The Return and a day of prayer and repentance on the National Mall, but also live-streamed throughout the land Saturday?
America is a nation that started in covenant with God 400 years ago this year to glorify Him and spread His gospel to the whole world. But the country's spiraled down to legislate immorality, call evil good and good evil, throw God and His commandments out of the schools, and kill its own unborn children.
As "The Return" organizer Jonathan Cahn put it, "We drove God out of our hearts, out of our government, out of our ways, out of laws, out of the education of our children, out of the public squares. Out of our businesses, out of our media, out of our culture, out of our lives. And as we drove Him out, we opened up a vacuum into which came a flood of other gods." (CBN) Read more here.
Franklin Graham’s Prayer March: A Huge Crowd
Tens of Thousands Cry Out to God at Prayer March 2020
Since 2016, Franklin Graham has led numerous calls for prayer across America through the Decision America Tour. First, in each state capital, then across dozens more cities, most recently in Florida this past January.
"Father, our country is in trouble, and we need your help," he said Saturday. "I think we're at a crucial point in this country. We're that close to losing our nation."
Vice President Mike Pence made a surprise appearance at the Prayer March, urging all gathered to persevere in their prayers for America.
. . . Slowly, hundreds of conversations came to a hush as one song prevailed over all. Together, thousands began singing "Amazing Grace," voices filling the overcast skies and spilling onto the National Mall.
. . . "Everyone has come for the same purpose, and that is to pray," Franklin Graham said. "Let's pray every step we take, and let's claim every step for God and rededicate this city for Him."
Together, people prayed for our nation's leaders, military and law enforcement, racial reconciliation, religious freedom and salvation for all.
As the sea of people moved from one location to the next, many prayed aloud. Some circled up in prayer at a street corner or sat quietly on a bench along the route, heads bowed in prayer.
One man sang "His Name Is Wonderful" in a deep voice as others around him joined in.
Various accents, multiple languages.
"This is just a small picture of what Heaven will look like," Will Graham said, walking among the masses through the National Mall. "Everyone of all different backgrounds coming to the Lord together in prayer."

About CHPP
About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
