1. Massive blast in Beirut kills at least 10, Israeli official denies involvement - Israel Hayom
A huge explosion near the centre of Beirut killed at least 10 people, injured hundreds and sent shockwaves across the Lebanese capital on Tuesday, shattering windows and causing apartment balconies to collapse.
The most powerful explosion to hit Beirut in years shook the ground, leaving some residents thinking an earthquake had struck. Dazed and weeping, some of them wounded, people walked through streets checking to see if relatives were hurt.
The blast occurred in the city's port area. Lebanon's interior minister said initial information indicated highly explosive material, seized years ago, that had been stored there had blown up. Lebanon-based broadcaster Mayadeen cited the country's customs director saying tonnes of nitrate exploded.
Footage of the explosion shared by residents on social media initially showed a column of smoke rising from the port district followed by an enormous blast that sent a ball of white smoke and fireball into the sky. Those filming the incident from high buildings in other areas of the city were thrown backwards by the shock. (Read more)
2. 'Like Hiroshima or Nagasaki': Pictures, videos show devastation across Beirut - Times of Israel
A giant mushroom cloud rose above Beirut on Tuesday following massive explosions at its port, which devastated buildings across Lebanon's capital and injured dozens. Miles from the scene of the blasts, balconies were knocked down, ceilings collapsed and windows were shattered.
Witnesses saw many people injured by flying glass and debris. Dazed injured residents, their faces and bodies caked with blood, meandered through the smoldering wreckage, aided by passersby and medics. The number of wounded was not immediately clear.
Videos of the explosion quickly proliferated across social media and pictures showed the breadth of the carnage across the city. (Read more)
3. Up to 300,000 left homeless by deadly blast in Beirut, governor says - Times of Israel
The huge blast in Beirut has left 300,000 people homeless and caused damage across half of the city estimated to cost more than $3 billion, its governor tells AFP.
"I think there are between 250,000 and 300,000 people who are now without homes," says Marwan Aboud, adding that the estimated cost of the damage from yesterday's explosion was between $3 billion and $5 billion dollars. (Read more)
4. Israel Extends Humanitarian Aid Offer to Lebanon After Devastating Beirut Blast - Algemeiner
Israel quickly offered humanitarian relief to Lebanon on Tuesday, following the devastating blast in Beirut in which dozens of people were killed and thousands more injured.
The Israeli Foreign Ministry tweeted, "At the direction of FM @Gabi_Ashkenazi and Defense Min. Gantz, Israel via security and international channels has offered humanitarian medical assistance to the government of Lebanon."
Israeli President Reuven Rivlin declared on Twitter: "We share the pain of the Lebanese people and sincerely reach out to offer our aid at this difficult time."
The Israel Defense Forces tweeted, "This is the time to transcend conflict."
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu told his national security adviser, Meir Ben-Shabbat, to find out how the Jewish state could be of help to its neighbor to the north. (Read more)
5. Beirut blasts likely accidental - but Hezbollah activities at the port under scrutiny - Fox News
A series of massive explosions rocked Beirut's port on Tuesday - a mushroom cloud rising above the widespread destruction that claimed the lives of at least 60 people and wounded hundreds more in the Lebanon capital.
While the cause of the blast has not yet been determined, preliminary assessments - according to intelligence officials in the region and the United States - as of Tuesday afternoon pointed to the disaster as accidental.
Even so, some have not ruled out more sinister origins pertaining to what was going on at the critical port, and what was being stored there. (Read more)
6. 'Bomb of some kind': Trump says deadly Beirut explosion 'looks like a terrible attack' - Washington Examiner
President Trump referred to the Beirut explosion that killed dozens as "an attack" and said generals he consulted with seem to believe "it was a bomb of some kind."
The president made the surprising comments during his scheduled Tuesday White House press conference. Officials in Lebanon have not called the blast an attack but have said that the port where it occurred may have housed some 2,700 tons of seized ammonium nitrate.
At the start of the news conference, Trump first referred to the explosion as an attack while offering his condolences and U.S. assistance to the Lebanese people while they recover from the blast, which left thousands injured and at least 73 dead, a number that is expected to rise. A reporter at the briefing later asked the president to elaborate on what he meant by "attack."
"It would seem like [an attack], based on the explosion. I've met with some of our great generals, and they just seem to feel that it was. This was not some kind of a manufacturing explosion type of event," Trump said. "This was a - seems to be, according to them - they would know better than I would - but they seem to think it was an attack, it was a bomb of some kind." (Read more)
- Father God, we all watched in horror yesterday as news of this blast hit the airwaves. Today we pray for a miracle of Your healing virtue to rest upon all the thousands who were injured in this blast, and for comfort for those who have now lost loved ones, too.
We thank You for the response of the Israelis, stating that "This is the time to transcend conflict," and offering aide to the Lebanese government. And finally, Father God, whether this was caused by an attack or by a massive chemical explosion in a warehouse, we ask that hidden things be revealed so that the cause of this disaster would be identified. In Your Name we pray, amen.

1. Netanyahu warns Hezbollah amid high tensions along northern border - Times of Israel
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday warned the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah and others, after Israeli forces said they thwarted an infiltration attempt from Syria by suspected militants.
The Israel Defense Forces announced late Monday that it had struck targets in Syria after the militants tried to plant explosives in the Golan Heights. The four suspects were believed to have been killed by an Israeli missile strike while carrying out the attempted attack in the pre-dawn hours of Monday.
Netanyahu, who toured a military base in the central city of Ramle on Tuesday, said Israel would not hesitate to take further action.
2. Israel strikes Syria in response to attempted terrorist attack - Jerusalem Post
The IDF carried out airstrikes against targets belonging to the Syrian military in southern Syria on Monday night, in response to an attempted terrorist attack that was thwarted along the Syrian border the night before.
IDF aircraft, including fighter jets and helicopters, carried out the strikes, according to the IDF.
The targets hit in the strikes included lookout points, intelligence gathering mechanisms, anti-aircraft weapons and means of control and command at Syrian military bases.
"The IDF sees the Syrian regime as responsible for all operations carried out in its territory and will continue to act with determination against all attacks on the sovereignty of the State of Israel," the IDF said.
3. 100-plus Israeli tech companies work to develop solutions against corona - JNS
(August 4, 2020 / JNS) The economic fallout from the coronavirus pandemic is being experienced worldwide, and Israel is no exception. Many Israeli startup and tech companies are facing great challenges in their ability to raise funds and access international markets, and will likely continue to face those challenges in the coming year. Yet some companies in Israel are also relying on the innovation and speed that characterizes its private sector in trying to create new opportunities, a senior Israeli investor and business academic has told JNS.
Edouard Cukierman, a founding and managing partner at Catalyst Investments-a leading private-equity multi-fund firm in Israel-is also chairman of Cukierman & Co. Investment House, one of Israel's largest boutique advisory firms. With more than two decades of experience in the venture-capital and private-equity industries, he has a unique vantage point in assessing the challenges posed by the current crisis to the Israeli startup and technology sector.
Cukierman, who served as a reserve officer in the Israel Defense Forces' Crisis and Hostage Negotiation Team and in the IDF Spokesperson's Unit, recently held a large online conference to expose the Israeli market to international investors.
4. Israeli Ambassador Warned UNSC About Hezbollah Control Over Beirut Port - Jewish Press
While Lebanon's Red Cross organization is working together with search and rescue teams to pull survivors out from under the rubble and find anyone else who has survived so they can be taken for medical care as quickly as possible, Lebanese investigators are probing the cause of two massive explosions that leveled buildings surrounding the Port of Beirut early Tuesday evening and damaged others up to 10 kilometers away.
Lebanese Health Minister Hamad Hassan told media Tuesday night that at least 67 people died and thousands more were injured, with those numbers still expected to rise.
The initial cause of the explosions - including one that resulted in a huge mushroom-shaped cloud of smoke - was reportedly linked to "chemicals and fireworks" that were being stored in warehouses at Gate 12 in the area of the port.
No matter what, it's still not clear what caused the explosions, even with "fireworks and chemicals" because those items do not detonate themselves on their own. As soon as the first blast went up, the Al-Arabiya television station reported that Hezbollah troops were deployed throughout the port. An Arabic television station associated with Hezbollah reported that the terror group said the cause of the blast was not an Israeli strike on a Hezbollah weapons warehouse. Both are odd. But when one considers a bit of news from one year ago, it all falls into place.
5. Hezbollah's Global Activities Revealed in New Interactive Map - The Algemeiner
A prominent US think tank has published a new interactive map revealing the extent of the global activities of the Iran-backed, Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah.
The Lebanese Hezbollah Select Worldwide Activity Interactive Map - created by the Washington Institute for Near East Policy under the supervision of senior fellow Matthew Levitt, who has written extensively about Hezbollah - allows users to see the various locations where Hezbollah is operating and track the connections between them.
In addition, by clicking on specific locations, users can access lists of specific incidents, such as terror attacks and arrests, as well as details on each occurrence.
The map is based on publicly-available primary sources. Levitt stated that it took him "years to accumulate this data."
"The Golden Rule of Hezbollah's Islamic jihad organization, its terrorist wing, is the less you know, the better," Levitt said. "We're going to try to poke a hole in that mantra, by trying to make public as much information as we can."

Listed demands from a BLM affiliate in Louisville include racial quotas for staff and ownership of business suppliers, donations to organizations run by non-whites, and adjustment to dress codes. The posters used the acronym "BIPOC" ("black or indigenous persons of color") as a euphemism for non-white persons:
-23% of Staff is BIPOC in Front of House
-23% of inventory is from BIPOC retailer(s)
-Regular donations to BIPOC organization
Dress code policy does not discriminate against BIPOC patrons of employees.
Additional demands issued via the letter included the option to give 1.5 percent of revenues to a local "black nonprofit or organization" in lieu of purchasing a minimum of 23 percent of the business's inventory from "black retailers," mandated "diversity and inclusion training" for all employees, and displaying of left-wing messaging to support "reparations."
The posters include a stated commitment to be publicly visible as a public service announcement pending future "inspections" of restaurants and other businesses. (Read more)

2. Trump giving $35 million to aid human trafficking survivors - AP News
The Trump administration is awarding more than $35 million in Justice Department grants to organizations that provide safe housing for survivors of human trafficking.
The grants are being announced Tuesday at a White House event attended by Attorney General William Barr, presidential adviser Ivanka Trump, other administration officials, survivors of human trafficking and organizations that serve them.
The $35 million in Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Human Trafficking is being provided by the Office for Victims of Crime within the Justice Department's Office of Justice Programs to provide housing and services to human trafficking survivors. (Read more)

3. Trump Threatens Legal Action Over Nevada's Decision To Send Mail-In Ballots To All Voters - Fox News
President Trump on Monday morning threatened legal action over a bill passed by the Nevada legislature to send mail-in ballots to all voters ahead of the Nov. 3 presidential election.
The legislature on Sunday pushed through the bill despite objections from Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske, the only statewide Republican elected official, on a party-line vote. It would give Democratic Gov. Steve Sisolak the power to command the secretary of state to adjust election procedures during a state of emergency.
The bill also expands who can turn in ballots, a provision many Republicans in the state said could open the door for ballot harvesting.
"In an illegal late night coup, Nevada's clubhouse Governor made it impossible for Republicans to win the state," Trump said in a tweet Monday. "Post Office could never handle the Traffic of Mail-In Votes without preparation. Using Covid to steal the state. See you in Court!"(Read more)

4. Trump calls for re-run of 'total disaster' NY congressional race amid mail-in ballot problems - Fox News
President Trump on Monday urged New York to re-run its June 23 primary election in the 12th Congressional District, which still hasn't produced a winner as thousands of mail-in ballots have been tossed or remain uncounted.
Trump's comments marked a further escalation of his rhetoric against universal, nationwide mail-in balloting, which the president has warned could bring about "greatest election disaster in history."
"I think you probably have to take the Carolyn Maloney race and run it over again," Trump said, during a relatively subdued White House press conference Monday.
Thousands of mail-in ballots have been invalidated in the contest, and both Republicans and election experts have said the situation could be a harbinger of a disastrous nationwide mail-in vote in November. This is a small race, and it's all messed up," Trump said. "It's a mess. Nobody knows what's happening. ... It's a total disaster." (Read more)

5. Rasmussen Poll: Trump Approval Rating Hits 51 percent - NewsMax
More than half of likely voters think President Donald Trump is doing a good job, according to a new poll.
A Rasmussen poll released Monday shows that Trump's approval rating is 7 points higher than former President Barack Obama's approval rating on the same day in 2012.
Poll results show:
51% of likely voters say Trump is doing a good job.
47% of likely voters say they disapprove of the president's job performance.
40% of likely voters say they strongly approve of the job Trump is doing.
41% of likely voters say they strongly disapprove of Trump's performance.
Trump's support is up 1% from Friday and 5% from Wednesday, according to poll results. (Read more)

6. Revolutionary Communist Party Endorses Democrat Joe Biden For President - The Daily Wire
The founder and leader of the Revolutionary Communist Party USA announced on Monday that they were backing presumptive Democrat presidential nominee Joe Biden for president.
Bob Avakian made the endorsement of Biden an email to supporters, saying, "Biden is not 'better' than Trump, in any meaningful way - except that he is not Trump and is not part of the move to consolidate and enforce fascist rule, with everything that means," The Washington Times reported.
The endorsement from the Revolutionary Communist Party is not the first far-left fringe endorsement that Biden has received.
The Trump campaign responded to the the Revolutionary Communist Party's endorsement of Biden by saying in a statement:
"Avakian's endorsement further demonstrates that Joe Biden is an empty vessel for the radical left. Indeed, Biden is seriously considering communist Rep. Karen Bass to be his running mate. Bass praised Fidel Castro, traveled to Cuba many times as part of a radical communist revolutionary group that trained in terrorist tactics, and eulogized a Communist Party USA member as her "mentor" in 2017. This is who Biden may put a heartbeat away from the presidency." (Read more)

7. NY attorney expands inquiry into Trump 'criminal conduct' - BBC News
A New York prosecutor seeking US President Donald Trump's tax returns says he is investigating reported "protracted criminal conduct at the Trump Organization". Monday's court filing suggests the inquiry is broader than alleged hush money payments made to two women who say they had affairs with Mr Trump.
The Supreme Court ruled last month that lawyers could examine the tax returns.
Mr Trump has repeatedly dismissed the probe, calling it a "witch hunt".

8. Arlington To Fine Groups Of Three Or More On Sidewalks - Sara Carter
Officials in Arlington County, Virginia unanimously voted to enforce social distancing on sidewalks to minimize the spread of the COVID-19 virus, according to a press release.
"While most Arlingtonians are adhering to requirements to wear masks and maintain social distancing, unfortunately, some are not," Arlington County Board Chair Libby Garvey said.
They are putting themselves and our community at risk of serious illness or death during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Board hopes that this step will make it clear to our entire community that this pandemic is far from under control and that we are serious about maintaining social distance to slow its spread and save lives. We hope that through outreach and education, we will get voluntary compliance and will not have to issue a single ticket."
According to Fox 5 DC, groups with more than three people, and those who fail to maintain a 6-foot distance from others could face a traffic fine of up to $100. (Read more)

9. Sweden Refused To Shut Down - They Were Right, We Were Wrong - Western Journalism
The Nordic country defeated COVID-19 without seeming to break a sweat - fever-induced or otherwise. They effectively showed that Fauci & Co. were completely wrong about a shutdown being necessary to save civilization as we know it.
While that accomplishment should be lauded and their efforts duplicated around the world, the media has instead chosen to blast the Nordic state and paint a dismal picture that simply doesn't exist.
They didn't mandate masks. They didn't turn into NKVD-aspiring Karens, eager to publicly shame or quietly narc on neighbors, friends and family who dared bare an uncovered nostril.
Sweden defied the (dare we say) scientific consensus and has performed exceedingly well compared to the U.S.
As of Saturday, Sweden had registered 0.65 deaths per million per day, based on a seven-day rolling average.
Trading Economics projects a second-quarter GDP change of -4.2 percent (and a third-quarter growth of 2.4 percent). Depending on your preferred method of calculation, we could casually say that's 7.8 times better than what the U.S. saw last quarter. (Read more)

- US equities gained on Monday as investors focused on deliberations on a new stimulus bill and looked past escalating China tensions.

Stand up and be courageous
Ephesians 6:13 exhorts, "Wherefore take unto you the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand." 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strongholds." Many are writing with one question on their mind: "You say 'Enough is Enough', and that we need to take action, but what specifically can we do?" Many feel helpless to stand in the breech against the forces of evil that label you from the contents of their dark hearts. You need to first have a relationship with God through Christ. That is the start. It is more than just believing. It is knowing, personal, understanding. It's deep.
We are all works in progress. No matter how close we think we are with the Lord, we can get closer. We need to be able to listen and learn from the Lord, in order to be guided by the Holy Spirit to do his will. Standing during this time may well be different for me than it is for you. The Lord has gifted me with the ability to write and communicate. He may have given you the gift of hospitality or effective prayer. Now this is not saying that we all only have one gift. We may have many. I love to write, and I also love to help my wife with her loving gift of hospitality. She can write too, but she can really care for people. This is just an example. When we have folks to our home, we often talk about the condition of the world-from a Christ-centered viewpoint. In other words, we don't have to just exercise one gift, but as many as the Lord gives us.
Part of standing up is having your house in order. Do you have a relationship with the Lord? Are you taking time to be with the Lord in your daily walk? Do you study his Word? Is your house in order? Is there peace or chaos? Are you able to keep the peace? Being able to withstand the evil of the day requires spiritual, physical and mental strength and conditioning. Like an athlete preparing for competition, the mind, body, spirit and soul must be aligned to excel-this is even before taking the field of competition. In other words, how are you to influence others effectively if you are not adequately prepared? Yes, the athlete must work with his teammates in order to win victory, but that work is not effective unless the athlete is ready to go.
Understanding the heart of the Lord is important. He didn't jam his deity down people's throats. He didn't force people. He spoke truth in love. You can speak truth without escalating a bad situation. But you need to know the Lord's way. Knowing when a kind word will turn away wrath, and when to hit the mark with a swift arrow of truth. This doesn't mean picking verses out of the Bible and making them fit your argument, or calling others sinners. It means creating relationships based on the principles of Christ. Our country didn't arrive in this sour state overnight, and we are not going to be able to change it overnight, if at all. We are, however, asked to overcome evil with good. The Holy Spirit will direct your standing if you are willing to hear and obey. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Put on your armor of light. Stand up! Be courageous!

Atlantic to continue to crank out tropical threats beyond Isaias
Isaias has some company over the middle of the Atlantic Ocean with the potential for additional development following the recent rise and fall of Tropical Depression 10.
Hurricane Isaias is currently garnering the most attention as the storm approaches the Carolina coast, with the threat of flooding and damaging winds. But, the Atlantic hurricane season is just getting started with the heart of the season more than a month away.
On Friday afternoon at 5 p.m. EDT, Tropical Depression 10 took shape about 200 miles off the west coast of Africa. However, the newly formed system had a brief life-span and succumbed to wind shear and dry air as the first weekend of August progressed.
There is one other area that has a significant chance of developing this week and perhaps to become the next tropical depression and storm of the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season.
"We are closely watching an area between Bermuda and the Bahamas," according to AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Rob Miller.
A tropical disturbance, known as a tropical wave, will send some moisture northward into this region and a weak area of low pressure can form, followed by the potential for development of a tropical depression or storm by the middle of this week," Miller added.
This tropical feature may then be absorbed by the same non-tropical system that is likely to pull Isaias across eastern North America. It could wander close to Bermuda during the second half of this week.

A two-part concert series titled "The Truth I'm Standing On" that is hosted by Matthew West [brings] the Museum of the Bible to our homes. In partnership with the Museum of the Bible and Trinity Broadcasting Network, it aims to promote healing during this hard time.
The first part of the concert series that featured well-known Christian music artists was streamed online on July 31. West shared about Biblical history and several artifacts housed in the museum throughout the event. The second airing will premiere on August 7th.
"Really what's most incredible about it is what the building stands for. It's literally the theme of this show, 'The Truth I'm Standing On,'" Matthew said in an interview. "The truth of God's Word throughout history that has stood the test of time. In times like these many people are searching because their foundation beneath their feet has crumbled.
