Shooting Near the White House

'Bringing calm to the turmoil': Trump and Secret Service lauded for response to shooting near White House

President Trump and members of the Secret Service were commended for their calm response to the shooting that took place near the White House during a press briefing.

Several members of the press and other political commentators noted that Trump calmly left the briefing room on Monday while the Secret Service responded to the shooting. They praised his decision to return and continue on with his remarks.

"Credit where it is due. @realDonaldTrump is bringing calm to the turmoil," wrote Las Vegas Review-Journal reporter Debra Saunders.

Several others shared similar remarks praising his response and acknowledging how he dove back into his remarks about the stock market's reaction to his recent executive actions.

Trump was mid-briefing when the incident took place. When he returned to the briefing room, he told reporters that the suspect was shot by law enforcement officials at the White House before reaching the premises. Trump told reporters he was not rattled by the incident.

"You were surprised. I was surprised also. I think it's pretty unusual," Trump said, adding, "I'd like to thank the Secret Service for doing their always quick and very effective work."

1. Likud official: We agreed to make one last attempt to avoid elections - Israel National News

According to a senior official in the Likud party, the decision of the Likud to support a bill to delay the passage of the budget was made in deference to the request of the Derech Eretz party, which proposed it, in order to make one last attempt at a compromise between the Likud and Blue and White and forestall new elections.

Blue and White and Likud have long been involved in a dispute regarding whether to legislate a budget for one or two years, with Likud favoring a one-year budget for 2020 alone, even though only a few months of the year remain, in addition to the fact that the coalition accords provided for a two-year budget.

Interior Minister Aryeh Deri, head of the Shas party, has announced that his party would support the bill when it comes before the Knesset for its preliminary reading this Wednesday.

2. Netanyahu: 'We don't need 24 hours' - Israel National News

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu today opened the Likud faction meeting by rejecting the ultimatum issued by Benny Gantz at the beginning of the Blue and White faction meeting.

"We don't need 24 hours, we don't even need 24 minutes. We have a budget prepared and adapted to the coronavirus crisis, exactly what the citizens of Israel need today," Netanyahu said.

He said, "It pours money into the pockets of the citizens, also into the businesses, it's ready and that's what needs to be transferred and it can be done immediately."

On Blue and White's two day ultimatum, Netanyahu said, "I'm also not impressed by all these Iranian and North Korean laws to trample the will of the voter on behalf of those unable to win at the ballot box. Not 24 hours and not 24 minutes; there's a budget ready and it needs to be done now."

3. Nasrallah threatens to blow up Israel with same chemicals as Beirut blast - Jerusalem Post

Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah threatened in the past to destroy Israel by causing a massive explosion in the port of Haifa using ammonia tanks that he said would be like a "nuclear" explosion. In addition Hezbollah allegedly sought to acquire ammonium nitrate via Syria since 2009 and tried to infiltrate the agriculture ministry in Lebanon to do so, according to leaked diplomatic cables.

The archival footage has been circulating in the wake of the massive explosion in Lebanon that killed more than 100 and injured 4,000 and has left hundreds missing. It illustrates Hezbollah's terrorist strategy of targeting civilians for mass murder, despite the organization's claim that it is "resisting" Israel by defending Lebanon.

A source quoted in a cache of leaked diplomatic cables and other reports noted that Hezbollah's supply of some explosive material had been cut off over the last decade. Hezbollah also allegedly sought to get the ammonium nitrate via Syria, bringing in thousands of tons of it from Homs. Hezbollah sought to dominate the agriculture ministry in Lebanon since 2009 to get a hold of the material.

4. Defense Minister: Iran Continues to Gain Foothold in Syria - Jerusalem Online

Defense Minister Benny Gantz took part in Monday's meeting of the Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee to discuss Israel's regional threats.

"Iran continues to strive for nuclear weapons. It has extensions in many countries around the world and in the region. We mustn't ignore this danger. Continued pressure on Iran and a determined act on our part to continue the embargo that is imposed on it is a goal of utmost importance," Gantz said.

"Iran is interested in opening a terror branch in Syria, and we must prevent it. Using a variety of methods, we are operating against Iran's attempts to become established in Syria and in other places in the region," he said.

5. Scientific Breakthrough: Israelis Pinpoint Earth's Magnetic Field at Moment of Holy Temple's Destruction - United with Israel

In an amazing piece of scientific work, researchers in Jerusalem were able to measure what the magnetic field of the planet Earth was exactly 2586 years ago.

It's a combination of the Jewish commemoration of the 9th of the Hebrew month of Av (Tisha B'Av) with the phenomenon known as archaeomagnetic dating - the ability to measure what the direction and magnitude of the earth's magnetic field was in ancient times when magnetic material that was in a fire is cooled - "freezing" the magnetic information in place.

It is indeed a fascinating connection. Albert Einstein defined fluctuations in the earth's magnetic field as one of the five great mysteries of physics. That field surrounds the earth and protects life on the planet from invisible but deadly radiation from outer space. It is also used as a navigation tool by humans, birds and marine mammals.

1. Baltimore gas explosion levels homes; 1 woman killed, 4 injured, 1 trapped - Fox News

Baltimore firefighters searched through the rubble Monday after a gas explosion destroyed three rowhouses, killed a woman and seriously injured several other people.

Firefighters worked through the afternoon to rescue a trapped person as they searched for other possible victims, officials said.

The blast, which also shattered windows in other homes, unfolded shortly before 10 a.m. in a residential neighborhood in the northeast part of the city.

"This was a very intense explosion," Fire Chief Niles Ford told a noon news briefing. "This is a horrendous type situation that we're dealing with at this point."

One destroyed home belonged to an 88-year-old U.S. Army veteran, the Baltimore Sun reported. That veteran, Major Watkins, Jr., said the explosion "sounded like Korea."(Read more)

- Lord, we pray Your comfort for all affected by this disaster.

"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." (Psalm 23:4)

2. Trump says Schumer, Pelosi 'want to meet to make a deal' on coronavirus relief - Fox News

President Trump said Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "want to meet to make a deal" on the fourth coronavirus stimulus package, after negotiations between congressional lawmakers and the White House reached a stalemate over the weekend. "So now Schumer and Pelosi want to meet to make a deal," the president tweeted Monday. "Amazing how it all works, isn't it." "Where have they been for the last 4 weeks when they were 'hardliners', and only wanted BAILOUT MONEY for Democrat run states and cities that are failing badly?" Trump continued, adding, "They know my phone number!" (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that Congress and the President will move forward with wisdom for any new COVID-relief package.

"Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is." (Ephesians 5:15-17)

3. Businesses and states launch own relief funds as congressional talks stall - The Hill

As negotiations between Democrats and Republicans over a new round of coronavirus relief drag on with little hope of a quick resolution in sight, some businesses are stepping in to help out-of-work employees pay the bills. Dozens of businesses that have been sidelined by lockdown orders have created funds to support their employees in recent weeks, after gridlock on Capitol Hill left an added unemployment benefit expire at the end of July.

Self Esteem Brands, a Minneapolis-based fitness company that owns Anytime Fitness and The Bar Method, will offer one-time grants of $500 to employees. An owner of Great Clips franchises in Central Texas is paying employees who have been furloughed. The University of Oregon seeded an employee relief fund with $50,000 last week, more than half of which has already been distributed. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that people would begin to turn to You at this time instead of relying on the government. You are able to change the times and seasons - let a move of Your Holy Spirit become reality.

4. Fed's Kashkari calls for 6-week economic shutdown to control coronavirus spread - Fox News

Neel Kashkari, president of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, called for a nationwide economic shutdown for up to six weeks to get the coronavirus pandemic under control on Friday, warning that the rest of 2020 could be much worse than what America has experienced so far.

"The next six months could make what we have experienced so far seem like just a warm-up to a greater catastrophe. With many schools and colleges starting, stores and businesses reopening, and the beginning of the indoor heating season, new case numbers will grow quickly," Kashkari wrote in a New York Times op-ed with Dr. Michael T. Osterholm, the director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the University of Minnesota.

Kashkari echoed comments he made a week ago on CBS's "Face the Nation," when he argued that "if we were to lock down hard for a month or six weeks, we could get the case count down so that our testing and our contact tracing was actually enough to control" the spread of coronavirus.

President Trump has insisted that states resist the urge to roll back reopening. He said earlier this week when asked about Kashkari's comments that the country is "not going back to shutdowns." (Read more)

5. Gretchen Whitmer Interviews for Vice President, Then Mandates Self-Lockdowns for People Exposed to Sore Throats - Breitbart

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer met with Joe Biden in Delaware this week as his search for a running mate comes down to the wire. The AP reported: Whitmer visited Biden Sunday, according to two high-ranking Michigan Democrats who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the matter publicly. The first-term governor of the battleground state has long been on his short list of possible running mates.

Flight records show a chartered plane left Lansing's Capital Region International Airport for Delaware Coastal Airport at 5:33 p.m. and returned at 11:16 p.m.

The development comes as Whitmer has been increasing mandates on Michiganders to blunt the spread of coronavirus, and said in an interview that she was spending "100 percent" of her energy on being governor. (Read more)

- Lord, this Governor has put many extreme restrictions on the people of her state, which demonstrates a spirit of control. We pray that You will stop any of Biden's picks for vice president that would cause irreparable harm to America.

"Fret not yourself because of evildoers, and be not envious of the wicked, for the evil man has no future; the lamp of the wicked will be put out." (Proverbs 24: 19-20)

6. Portland riot declared as fire burns in police union offices - Fox News

A fire inside a police union building led authorities in Portland, Oregon, to declare a riot and force protesters away from the offices as violent demonstrations continue in the city that had hoped for calm after federal agents withdrew more than a week ago.

A group of demonstrators broke into the Portland Police Association building, set the fire and were adding to it when officers made the riot declaration late Saturday, police tweeted. Video shot by a journalist shows smoke and flames arising from inside the building. Several hundred people had gathered outside the offices, which are located about 5 miles (8 kilometers) north of the federal courthouse that had been the target of nightly violence earlier this summer. The Portland Police Association is a labor union that represents members of the Portland Police Bureau. (Read more)

- Father, we take authority over this violence and bind it tightly in the Name of Jesus. We pray that Your righteousness would rise in the midst of it pushing it out of our nation.

7. Twitter, TikTok held talks about potential 'combination': Report - Fox News

Twitter and TikTok have held preliminary talks regarding a "potential combination," according to a report by the Wall Street Journal.

Sources familiar with the matter told the outlet that the deal would involve TikTok's U.S. operations. TikTok and Twitter declined to comment.

Twitter would be the latest bidder for the popular video-sharing mobile app. Currently, Microsoft remains TikTok's highest bidder and announced in a blog post earlier this month that it would continue discussions for a potential purchase of the company.

"Microsoft fully appreciates the importance of addressing the President's concerns," the company said. "It is committed to acquiring TikTok subject to a complete security review and providing proper economic benefits to the United States, including the United States Treasury." (Read more)

- Lord, let no transaction be completed with TikTok that damages American businesses or allows our enemies access to Your people. We call every part of TikTok that works with China to be null and void.

"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you." (Deut. 31:6)

8. 'Americans Should Be Concerned': National Security Adviser O'Brien Issues Warning About China - Daily Wire

National Security Advisor Robert O'Brien warned earlier this summer that Americans needed to be "concerned" about things that the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) was doing because they want "to know everything about you"-and they are willing to commit crimes to get the information they want. O'Brien said that American leaders made the "greatest" foreign policy "miscalculation" since the 1930s in respect to believing that China would become a liberal democracy if they were brought into the global marketplace and given economic opportunities to thrive. O'Brien said that the mistake was made because U.S. officials "did not pay heed to the CCP's ideology." "Instead of listening to what CCP leaders were saying, instead of reading what they wrote in their key documents, we closed our eyes and our ears," O'Brien said. "We believed what we wanted to believe-that the Party members were communist in name only." (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that all of America would heed the danger posed by China, and stop pushing the CCP talking points. We thank You that the voices are speaking out and pray that wisdom will follow.

"If anyone stirs up strife, it is not from me; whoever stirs up strife with you shall fall because of you." (Isaiah 54:15)

9. Azar Lands in Taiwan with Highest-Level U.S. Delegation for Decades - Breitbart

U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar defied noisy protests from Beijing and touched down in Taiwan on Sunday to begin the highest-level visit by an American Cabinet official since formal diplomatic relations between Washington and Taipei ended in 1979. As Breitbart News reported, Secretary Azar will meet with senior Taiwan counterparts, coronavirus responders and experts on behalf of U.S. President Donald Trump. He will also meet President Tsai Ing-wen, an advocate for Taiwan being recognized as a sovereign nation who is loathed by China's leaders for daring to speak with an independent voice on the world stage. Taiwan's strong performance in handling its coronavirus outbreak has drawn global plaudits while highlighting its exclusion from the World Health Organization (W.H.O.) and other U.N. bodies at the behest of the Chinese Communist Party. Azar acknowledged that achievement before his departure, citing it as an example of good governance. "Taiwan has been a model of transparency, cooperation and collaboration in the international community," he said. "Their response to COVID has been incredible." (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You for this visit that could mean the US could build closer ties with Taiwan. We pray that a move of Your Spirit would break out among the people of Taiwan, and bring new hope to the people of the island.

"And hope does not put us to shame, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us." (Romans 5:5)

10. 'Should be alarming to every American': Trump official says overnight looting in Chicago was 'rampage' - Washington Examiner

A senior Department of Homeland Security official said Chicagoans went on a "rampage" Sunday night into early Monday, looting high-end businesses and destroying property downtown following a shooting that involved a police officer.

"It's a rampage," acting Customs and Border Protection Commissioner Mark Morgan said during remarks at a Heritage Foundation webinar Monday afternoon. "This should be alarming to every American citizen, in every city in this country. We cannot have that. We are a country based on the Constitution and the rule of law. If we do not maintain the rule of law and law and order, this is what you're going to see."

The violence in downtown Chicago broke out after a man was injured during a police shooting. Hundreds of people descended on Michigan Avenue and Lake Street, breaking into designer shops and drugstores and stealing merchandise. Coach, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Macy's, and Nordstrom in the city's Magnificent Mile area were among the stores looted. (Read more)

- Father, as above for Portland, we now take authority over this violence and bind it tightly in the Name of Jesus. We pray that Your righteousness would rise in the midst of it pushing it out of our nation.

California Governor Orders Churches and All Indoor Businesses to Close Amid Surge in COVID-19 Cases -- Pastors say NO!

1. Another California Church Defies Gov Newsom's Order to Remain Closed; Backs 'Recall' Effort - Faithwire

Southern California may be the last place someone would expect to find God-fearing, Christian Americans fighting to preserve the constitutional right to religious liberty. But that's exactly what LifeSite correspondent Jim Hale discovered when he traveled to Chino Hills, California last week.

A month ago, Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom issued a dictatorial measure that essentially forced churches in the state to shut down altogether.

But Calvary Chapel Chino Hills refused to obey and kept its doors open.

"Satan doesn't want people to know Christ," Gina Gleason, Calvary Chapel's director of faith and public told LifeSite. "People are coming here, being saved, hearing the Word of God." Gleason believes that "we're just seeing something supernatural here."

The church's associate pastor, Josh Blevins, said they've been getting positive responses from all over the world for their courageous decision. (Read more)

2. Pastor Che Ahn Sues California: Parents, Pastors, and Businesses Beware! - IFA

Dr. Che Ahn, senior leader of Harvest Rock Church in Pasadena, California; founder of the Harvest International Ministry (H.I.M.) with churches in 70 nations and 162 churches in California; and, International Chancellor of Wagner University recently faced fierce opposition from Governor Gavin Newsom to prohibit Christians singing in church services and hosting Bible studies and fellowship gatherings in homes! Knowing this has implications for Christians across America, Che prayed, sought counsel and knew it was time to stand up to the former mayor of leftist-leaning San Francisco.

As one of my dearest friends for over 45 years, Che sat down recently with me to share the lessons learned during this journey. During four 15-minute "Here's the Deal" podcasts on the Charisma Podcast Network Che explains in detail what led up to this defining moment as well as its' implications for Christians across America. (Read more)

3. Pastor John MacArthur Defies Covid Orders: 'Welcome to the Grace Community Church Peaceful Protest' - Faithwire/BCN

"Good morning, everyone. I'm so happy to welcome to the Grace Community Church peaceful protest," said 81-year-old megachurch Pastor John MacArthur. Congregants laughed, cheered, and applauded in response.

MacArthur made headlines a couple weeks ago, when he decided his congregation would flout orders from Gov. Gavin Newsom (D), who has banned singing and indoor church services.

During a July appearance on "Tucker Carlson Tonight," the Grace Community Church preacher told the host government "can't intrude in worship," pointing to the First Amendment, which states Congress "shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" (Read more)

- Father, thank You for these courageous pastors in the State of California who are standing up to this tyrannical edit, issued by Governor Gavin Newsom. We know that many other churches in that state have taken the same stand. We ask that Your hand of protection and grace would fall upon all in that state who are now fighting for religious freedom in America; and that You would protect each one from all forms of backlash. We ask this in Your mighty Name, amen.

- "Jesus warned, "Then many will fall away . . . because iniquity will abound, the love of many will grow cold." (Matt. 24:10;12)

5. Judge issues order shutting down Ventura County church's crowded, unmasked indoor services - LA Times

A Ventura County Superior Court judge Friday granted a temporary restraining order against Godspeak Calvary Chapel and pastor Rob McCoy, forbidding the church's indoor services and demanding adherence to statewide and local health orders aimed at slowing the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Since May 31, the Newbury Park church has held large, indoor services without masks or social distancing every Sunday. Ventura County health authorities sued Godspeak and McCoy on Wednesday.

McCoy said the services included "singing, hugging, no masks."

"The Constitution is not a suicide pact. The exercise of individual liberties has to be consistent with public health, otherwise the one would cancel out the other," Judge Matthew Guasco said, according to the Thousand Oaks Acorn
(Read more)

- Father, please give Your people wisdom at this difficult time. There are lawsuits being prepared, but thus far, they have not gone in favor of the church. We know that You have a way in which Your church can gather and worship. We rebuke this spirit of Antichrist in the Mighty Name of Jesus.

"I tell you, if these were silent, the very stones would cry out." (Luke 19:40)

FINAL THOUGHT:

"First they came for the Communists and I did not speak out because I was not a Communist. Then they came for the Socialists and I did not speak out because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the trade unionists and I did not speak out because I was not a trade unionist. Then they came for the Jews and I did not speak out because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me-and there was no one left to speak for me." -Martin Niemoller, German Lutheran Pastor arrested and confined to Dachau camp but released in 1945 by the Allies.

“War” over Religious Freedom in CHINA

Chinese pastors: praise Xi Jinping, slander USA from pulpit, or risk closure

China's state-approved churches that were forced to close due to COVID-19 are only permitted to reopen if they praise the Chinese Communist Party in sermons and extol President Xi Jinping, according to a new report.

Religious liberty magazine Bitter Winter reports that the Religious Affairs Bureau of Zhengzhou, the capital of the province of Henan, released in mid-June a list of 42 prerequisites for churches that sought to reopen. Among the requirements, churches were ordered to "intensify patriotic education" and "study China's religious policies," Bitter Winter reported.

Additionally, churches were ordered to promote the "four requirements," a nationwide campaign launched in 2018 to promote the "sinicization" of religion. The campaign involves requiring religious communities to ritually raise the national flag; promoting the Chinese Constitution and laws, core socialist values, and "China's excellent traditional culture."

"Instead of a normal sermon, the preacher talked about the patriotism of medical workers during the epidemic, and their sacrifice to the state," a member of a Three-Self church told Bitter Winter. "These things are important, but political things were discussed for half of the time. Many believers complained afterward."

Churches that refused to comply with the CCP's demands were not permitted to reopen. In Henan, one church was not allowed to reopen because officials didn't approve the pastor's sermons.

"None of the 11 places of worship in our area was approved for reopening," a deacon in the church told Bitter Winter. "We were busy preparing to meet the requirements for reopening, but the government made things difficult for us in every respect."

- Father God, we bring the great nation of CHINA before Your Throne of Grace. Only You, Holy One, can know the deep needs of every citizen -- Communist and free - in this vast land. Father, we thank You that at the Cross, You poured out Your very lifeblood for these souls. We claim their salvation now, in Your name, amen!

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

I LOVE TO TELL THE STORY

"Let me tell you what He has done for me." (Psalm 66:16)

Lyrics

I love to tell the story of unseen things above,
Of Jesus and His glory, of Jesus and His love.
I love to tell the story, because I know 'tis true;
It satisfies my longings as nothing else can do.

Refrain

I love to tell the story, 'twill be my theme in glory,
To tell the old, old story of Jesus and His love.

I love to tell the story; more wonderful it seems
Than all the golden fancies of all our golden dreams.
I love to tell the story, it did so much for me;
And that is just the reason I tell it now to thee.

Refrain

I love to tell the story; 'tis pleasant to repeat
What seems, each time I tell it, more wonderfully sweet.
I love to tell the story, for some have never heard
The message of salvation from God's own holy Word.

Refrain

I love to tell the story, for those who know it best
Seem hungering and thirsting to hear it like the rest.
And when, in scenes of glory, I sing the new, new song,
'Twill be the old, old story that I have loved so long.

Refrain

Signs and Wonders

Signs and Wonders

1. Busy hurricane season is about to get a whole lot busier, NOAA says

The Atlantic hurricane season roared off to a stormy and record-breaking start this year, with nine named storms forming by July 30. And it's shaping up to be one of the more active seasons on record, according to experts with the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

Today (Aug. 6), NOAA researchers delivered an update to their hurricane season outlook, initially presented on May 21. The new outlook predicts an 85% chance of above normal activity, compared to the May prediction of a 60% chance.

NOAA models showed that the 2020 Atlantic hurricane season could bring up to 25 named storms - the highest number ever predicted by NOAA - with winds of at least 39 mph (63 km/h). Of those, nine to 11 storms could be hurricanes with winds of at least 74 mph (119 km/h) and as many as six storms could be major hurricanes with winds of 111 mph (179 km/h) or higher, according to NOAA's lead hurricane season forecaster Gerry Bell. 2. Derecho leaves trail of destruction in Iowa before racing toward Chicago

An intense line of storms known as a derecho developed over the central United States late Monday morning, causing significant damage and widespread power outages as it blitzed eastward.

Thunderstorms ignited in southeastern South Dakota and eastern Nebraska on Monday morning, but gained strength and evolved into a derecho across central Iowa by midday. The worst of the storms focused on a zone from around Des Moines through Davenport, Iowa.

The damage will continue to mount as the derecho blasts eastward, with Chicago on alert. At its current pace, the storms will arrive in Chicago before 4 p.m. CT.

A particularly dangerous situation severe weather watch is in effect until 7 p.m. for northern Illinois and southern parts of Wisconsin, and it states that significant wind gusts up to 100 mph are likely, similar to what was observed across central Iowa.

Please note: this alert was posted on Monday afternoon. Chicago was bracing for this same storm to hit, carrying winds of up to 100 mph.

4. (Our favorite!) Bride Who Survived Beirut Blast: 'I Thank God for Protecting Us' - Breitbart

A 29-year-old woman being filmed in her bridal gown in a courtyard in Beirut, Lebanon, on Tuesday was thrown to the ground when a massive explosion took place at the city's port, killing at least 135 people and injuring thousands.

The video of Israa Seblani went viral on social media, and in an interview following her escape she thanked God for protecting her and her loved ones.

"There is a lot of damage, many people were killed and wounded. But also if I want to look at us, myself, my husband, the photographer - how we escaped unharmed, I thank God for protecting us," Seblani said in a Reuters article. "This alone makes me feel optimistic and to keep the joy of the occasion that I came here to celebrate." (Read more)

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
