3. Two senior Likud officials said urging Netanyahu to call fresh elections - Times of Israel

A pair of senior officials in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's Likud party have urged him to force new elections, according to a television report Saturday, as two opposition party chiefs said they would back legislation barring the premier from again forming a government due to his indictment on graft charges.

"The meaning of a two-year budget is that [Defense Minister Benny] Gantz will be prime minister," Channel 12 news quoted the two Likud officials saying.

The report came as Netanyahu remained at loggerheads with Gantz over the passage of a state budget, which they must approve by August 25 or the government will be dissolved. While the coalition deal between Likud and Gantz's Blue and White stipulates the coalition will pass a budget through 2021, Netanyahu is now calling for one that only covers the rest of the year, citing the uncertainty of the pandemic.

The coalition agreement also requires Netanyahu to hand over the premiership to Gantz if new elections new elections are called before the Blue and White chief takes over as prime minister in November 2021, an exception was made for a failure to pass a budget, leading to speculation the Likud leader was forcing the budget crisis to avoid having to leave office.

4. Gantz refuses to rule out law banning Netanyahu from serving as PM - Jerusalem Post

Alternate Prime Minister and Defense Minister Benny Gantz of Blue and White refused Saturday night to rule out backing legislation that would stop Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu from serving as prime minister.

Gantz's comments come amid severe tensions within the coalition and the possibility that government ministers will not convene Sunday morning for the weekly cabinet meeting due to the crisis between Netanyahu and the Blue and White leader over the state budget.

As the divisions between the Likud and Blue and White have increased in recent weeks, and the allegations that Netanyahu is seeking new elections heightened, so too have calls from Gantz's former allies, now in the opposition, to pass legislation which would prevent an MK from forming a government if they are under indictment.

5. As budget deadline nears, ministers engage in heated debate over coalition's fate - Israel Hayom

A meeting designed to finalize new measures against the coronavirus pandemic ended with mutual recriminations between Blue and White and Likud over the future of the fragile unity government.

The special ministerial forum tasked with dealing with the virus had gathered on Sunday afternoon in order to deliberate on the future restrictions to prevent the spread of the virus, a day before they were to expire, but the ongoing disagreements over the upcoming deadline to pass a state budget soon resurfaced, leading to a shouting match.

Finance Minister Israel Katz, from Likud, turned to Blue and White leader Benny Gantz, asking for his party's support for a special budget for the poor. "Allow the measure, at a sum of 8.5 billion shekels ($2.5 billion) to pass, there is no reason why this should stall," Katz said, adding this must not be beholden to Blue and White's insistence on a two-year budget.

But Gantz retorted that Katz had violated the unity deal but refusing to plan for a two-year budget. "You never wanted to implement the deal," Gantz reportedly shouted.

6. Israel TV: Hezbollah apparently wanted Beirut's ammonium nitrate for Israel war - Times of Israel

Hezbollah apparently planned to use the ammonium nitrate stockpile that caused a massive bast at Beirut's port this week against Israel in a "Third Lebanon War," according to an unsourced assessment publicized on Israel's Channel 13 Friday night.

The report was broadcast hours after Hezbollah's leader, Hassan Nasrallah, gave a speech "categorically" denying that his group had stored any weapons or explosives at Beirut's port, following the massive explosion there Tuesday that has claimed over 157 lives and wounded thousands. "I would like to absolutely, categorically rule out anything belonging to us at the port. No weapons, no missiles, or bombs or rifles or even a bullet or ammonium nitrate," Nasrallah said. "No cache, no nothing. Not now, not ever."

Israel has not formally alleged that Hezbollah was connected to the Tuesday blast.

7. Gaza Terrorists Resume IED Balloon Attacks on Southern Israel - Jewish Press

Gaza terrorists this week again began to escalate balloon bombing and arson attacks on southern Israel, launching increasing numbers of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) attached to colorful clusters of balloons they have sent flying across the border towards southern Israeli communities.

Early Saturday morning, an IED was discovered attached to a cluster of balloons in a field near Kibbutz Nir Oz along the Gaza border. Israeli security personnel and police sappers were summoned to the site to neutralize the explosives while residents were prevented from reaching the area.

There were no injuries, and no property damage was reported.

1. US Offers Rewards of Up to $10 Million to Counter Foreign Cyber Meddling in Elections - CNSNews.com

For the first time, the State Department is leveraging a 36-year-old program created to help bring terrorists to justice, to counter efforts by cyber criminals backed by foreign governments to interfere in U.S. elections. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced the move at a briefing at the department, and indicated that Russia was foremost among those suspected to be involved in such activities.

"Speaking of Russia and other malign actors," he said, "the State Department's Rewards for Justice program is offering a reward of up to $10 million for information leading to the identification or location of any person who, acting at the direction or under the control of a foreign government, interferes with U.S. elections by engaging in certain criminal cyber activities."

He did not elaborate, but the department said in a statement the activities being focused on include malicious cyber operations designed to interfere with federal, state, or local elections, and subject to prosecution under a statute that "prohibits unauthorized accessing of computers to obtain information and transmit it to unauthorized recipients."

Citing an executive order issued by President Trump in September 2018 declaring that year's midterm elections a national emergency, the department said, "The ability of persons, as well as foreign powers, to interfere in or undermine public confidence in United States elections, including through the unauthorized accessing of election and campaign infrastructure, constitutes an unusual and extraordinary threat to the national security and foreign policy of the United States. For example, foreign adversaries could employ malicious cyber operations targeting election infrastructure, including voter registration databases and voting machines, to impair an election in the United States," it said. Such adversaries could also conduct malicious cyber operations against U.S. political organizations or campaigns to steal confidential information and then leak that information as part of influence operations to undermine political organizations or candidates."

It's the first time the Rewards for Justice Program has been used to go after cyber criminals suspected of election interference. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we lay hold of the power of this program created to bring terrorists to justice, and to counter efforts by cyber criminals backed by foreign governments to interfere with U.S. elections. Bind and break through the Blood of Jesus Russia's attempts to interfere with this presidential election. Lord God, we ask You to reveal the location of the criminal cyber operations, and to render them useless. Father, protect our computers, databases, election infrastructure, and voting machines from foreign cyber meddling. We bind the spirit of stealing, killing and destroying by the Name of Jesus, amen.

"Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever you shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever you shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven. Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." (Matthew 18:18-19)

2. Trump Lays Out His 6 Promises To Americans For His Second Term
- Daily Caller

President Donald Trump laid out six initiatives he plans to pursue if he wins a second term on November 3.

Trump announced the list during an appearance at the Whirlpool Corporation in Ohio, highlighting the promises he kept from his 2016 campaign while laying out new ones for his next term.

Trump's first promise was to defeat the coronavirus, saying his administration was using all its resources to develop therapies, a vaccine, and medical equipment to limit the spread of the virus. His second promise was he would return the economy to pre-coronavirus levels of success, saying employment would was already on the rise. Third, he promised to use the gains in America's medical manufacturing capacity to turn the U.S. into the world's top producer of medical products such as ventilators and pharmaceuticals.

Fourth, Trump promised to rein in U.S. supply chains in other industries as well, ensuring for national security reasons that American companies don't have to rely on other nations. His fifth promise was to use every tool at his disposal - including tariffs - to bring American manufacturing jobs back to the United States. He took the opportunity to announce new tariffs on Canadian-produced aluminum as well. His final promise was to always put American workers first.

The speech came hours after he signed a "Buy American" executive order aimed at onshoring America's production chains. White House advisor Peter Navarro, who was present at the signing, praised the plan and explained why it took so long to sign after announcing the plan in the spring. "Good things take time, and this is a good thing for America," he said. "I've been a part of roughly 15 executive orders. This is one of the most comprehensive and effective executive orders that I've seen. It's going to get the mission done." (Read more)

- Holy God, this promised plan for America will be the saving grace where it is needed most. This is the most powerful declaration that America will no longer be the target for our enemies to steal, kill and destroy from us - no never again. The conniving lies of our enemies will be found out and eschewed. We declare this in Your name, amen.

- "Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth."  (Psalm 46:10)

3. Trump and Pence Endorse Absentee Ballots, But Warn Universal Mail-In Ballots Are a 'Disaster'- CNSNews.com

In separate appearances on Monday, August 3, President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence made it clear they support absentee voting, but not universal mail-in voting, where states "take millions of ballots and send them all over the place," in Trump's words

. . . . Trump pointed to the New York congressional primary, held in June, where incumbent Democrat Rep. Carolyn Maloney still has not been declared the winner because of contested mail-in ballots. "Well, there's never been a push like this for mail-in ballots, and if you look at the New York congressional race, which is a disaster, Carolyn--it has been a total disaster. They have--they are six weeks into it now. They have no clue what is going on, and I mean, I think I can say right here and now, I think you have to rerun that race because it's a mess. "Nobody knows what's happening with the ballots and the lost ballots and the fraudulent ballots, I guess."

Trump said if a relatively small primary election in New York still isn't decided, "how are you going to do that for an entire nation?" He accused Democrats of "using COVID" as an excuse to expand universal mail-in voting.

Generally speaking, a voter must request an absentee ballot, while universal mail-in ballots are automatically sent to all registered voters.

Trump said his administration plans to sue the Nevada governor, after the governor came up with "this massive plan out of nowhere to take millions of ballots and send them all over the place." Trump also said the postal service isn't prepared to handle and postmark so many mail-in ballots. "Again absentee is great, it works. Like in Florida, they will do absentee, it really works. But universal mail-in ballots is going to be a great embarrassment to our country," Trump warned.(Read more)

- - Father in heaven, we pray that You will save America from this curse that is coming from the enemies of President Trump. Lord God, we ask You to destroy the plans of the wicked by the Blood of Jesus. Block Universal Mail-In Ballots as they are being created at the printing presses. Release victory for President Trump to continue in office as our president for the next four years. In the Name of Jesus we pray, amen.

"For I the Lord love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them." (Isaiah 61:8)

4. Commission on Presidential Debates rejects Trump campaign call for earlier debate - The Hill

The Commission on Presidential Debates is rejecting the Trump campaign's request to modify the presidential debate schedule so the first debate occurs before states begin early voting.

. . . The commission's three co-chairs said it would stick to its schedule of three, 90-minute debates beginning Sept. 29, after the Trump campaign pushed for a debate to be added or the date for the last debate to be moved up to the beginning of September. The commission rebuffed the campaign's argument that the current debate schedule would deprive voters of seeing the candidates debate one another before the first ballots are cast.

"You state that such a debate is necessary because some states begin sending out mail-in ballots before the first scheduled debate. There is a difference between ballots having been issued by a state and those ballots having been cast by voters, who are under no compulsion to return their ballots before the debates," wrote co-chairs Frank Fahrenkopf, Dorothy Ridings and Kenneth Wollack in the letter to Giuliani Thursday.

"In 2016, when the debate schedule was similar, only .0069% of the electorate had voted at the time of the first debate. While more people will likely vote by mail in 2020, the debate schedule has been and will be highly publicized. Any voter who wishes to watch one or more debates before voting will be well aware of that opportunity," the letter continued. (Read more)

- Father in heaven, we pray You will oversee the Trump campaign's request to modify the schedule of the presidential debates. Lord God, we pray Your power will hold back all the forces of evil that would attempt to arrange the wrong schedule for the Trump campaign. In the Name of Jesus we pray, amen.

"Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them."
(Romans 1:32)

5. Trump signs executive actions after Congress stalls on coronavirus relief- Washington Examiner

President Trump signed multiple executive measures after Congress failed to pass another coronavirus relief bill.

The president signed an executive order on Saturday to send financial relief to unemployed people in the United States, and he also signed memos on evictions, student loans, and payroll taxes.

Trump, speaking from his golf resort in Bedminster, New Jersey, declared that each unemployed person will be given $400 monthly. However, that's $200 less than what the previous benefits provided, which expired in July. Democrats sought to provide the same amount to those who qualify for it.

"The third action I'm taking today will also provide additional support for Americans who are unemployed, due to the China virus. Under the CARES Act I proudly signed, I expanded unemployment benefits into law," he said.

Through the executive action, he also seeks to suspend payments on some student loans, protect renters from evictions, and allow employers to defer payroll taxes through the end of the year for employees who make less than $100,000.

"If I'm victorious Nov. 3, I plan to forgive these taxes and make permanent cuts to the payroll tax and to make them more permanent," Trump said. (Read more)

- Father God, how thankful we are that Your guidance of President Trump's executive orders are stabilizing the economy. We thank You for the Executive Orders releasing a Payroll Tax Cut, Eviction Protections, Unemployment Extensions, and Student Loss Repayment Options. These are all supporting exactly what is needed to support all of our citizens in this time of distress. We pray in the Name of Jesus, amen.

"It is I who says of Cyrus, 'He is My shepherd!
And he will perform all My desire.'
And he declares of Jerusalem, 'She will be built,'
And of the temple, 'Your foundation will be laid.'"

6. Tennessee Valley Authority bends to Trump and says it won't lay off US workers - Washington Examiner

The Tennessee Valley Authority is abandoning plans to lay off dozens of U.S. technology workers after President Trump, in a broadside against the power company earlier this week, fired two of its board members. "We were wrong in not fully understanding the impact on our employees, especially during the pandemic," said Jeff Lyash, TVA's CEO, in a statement Thursday. Lyash and interim board Chairman John Ryder met with Mark Meadows, White House chief of staff, and Pat Cipollone, White House counsel, according to a news release. "TVA fully understands and supports the Administration's commitment to preserving and growing American jobs," Lyash added.

Trump cracked down on the TVA on Monday, removing the company's board Chairman James Thomspon and board member Richard Howarth. He announced that decision during a meeting in which he signed a new executive order requiring federal agencies to prioritize U.S. workers in federal contracts. That executive order specifically criticized TVA for saying it would outsource 20% of its technology jobs, which the order said could cause more than 200 U.S. workers to lose their jobs.

Ryder, in a statement, said he and Lyash told the White House that the company's restructuring process was "faulty." TVA, the country's largest public power company, serving seven states, is also reviewing its contract work to ensure that it tracks with Trump's executive order. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we pray that You will stand with the 200 U.S. workers to remain on their jobs and not lose them. We thank You for this shift in the policy at the TVA, and ask that You would cause them to honor their word. Lord, guide the TVA to improve their restructuring process, and to hire only Americans workers. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

"For You, Lord, have made us glad though Your work; we will triumph in the works of your hands. O Lord, how great are your works! and Your thoughts are very deep."(Psalm 92:4-5)

7. Trump administration sending federal police into St. Louis and Memphis - Washington Examiner

The Trump administration will expand its deployment of federal police to two Midwestern cities to work with local and state law enforcement departments following upticks in violent crime.

The Justice Department announced Thursday afternoon the expansion of Operation Legend to Memphis, Tennessee, and St. Louis, Missouri. The operation was first launched on July 8 in Kansas City, Missouri, and represents a federal effort to work with law enforcement in cities and counties that have seen higher rates of serious crimes committed in the past several months.

"Today, we have extended Operation Legend to Memphis and St. Louis, two cities experiencing increases in violent crime that no resident of those cities should have to accept as part of everyday life," said Attorney General William Barr in a statement. "For decades, the Department of Justice has achieved significant success when utilizing our anti-violent crime task forces and federal law enforcement agents to enforce federal law and assist American cities that are experiencing upticks in violent crime."

Homicides in Memphis have jumped 49% while gun crimes are up 23% compared to the same period last year. In St. Louis, homicides are up 33%. (Read more)

- Father in heaven, we look to You to guide President Trump in deploying federal police into St. Louis and Memphis in the expansion of Operation Legend. God, we ask that You will bind by Your power all the forces of evil that have increased the number of homicides and gun crimes this year. Change the evil hearts of men and women from bad to good so that lives will be saved and protected. We pray in the Name of Jesus.

- "In the day of our trouble, we will call upon God: for You will answer our prayers." (Psalm 86:7)

8. New York attorney general moves to dissolve National Rifle Association - Washington Examiner

The state of New York is taking major legal action to dissolve the National Rifle Association.

On Thursday, New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit, People of the State of New York v. The National Rifle Association, against the gun rights organization, charging it with a string of "fraud and abuse" violations. The 169-paged lawsuit details a list of financial misconduct, including alleged instances of using NRA funds for vacations, private jets, and high-priced meals. "The NRA's influence has been so powerful that the organization went unchecked for decades while top executives funneled millions into their own pockets," James said in a statement. "The NRA is fraught with fraud and abuse, which is why, today, we seek to dissolve the NRA, because no organization is above the law."

In a statement to the Washington Examiner, NRA President Carolyn Meadows described the lawsuit as an assault on the Second Amendment. "This was a baseless, premeditated attack on our organization and the Second Amendment freedoms it fights to defend. You could have set your watch by it: The investigation was going to reach its crescendo as we move into the 2020 election cycle. It's a transparent attempt to score political points and attack the leading voice in opposition to the leftist agenda," Meadows said. "This has been a power grab by a political opportunist - a desperate move that is part of a rank political vendetta. Our members won't be intimidated or bullied in their defense of political and constitutional freedom."

"As evidenced by the lawsuit filed by the NRA today against the NYAG, we not only will not shrink from this fight - we will confront it and prevail," Meadows continued. (Read more)

- Holy God, we pray the enemies of the National Rifle Association will be stripped of their attacks and be defeated by Your power. We place the Word of God against all 169 pages filed in this lawsuit. Weaken its effect, Father. Strengthen the NRA to stand strong against these enemy forces. We thank You for the NRA, O Lord, as they have worked tirelessly over time to protect our Second Amendment rights. Rise up, oh Lord, and fight this war for the NRA. We ask in the Name of Jesus, amen.

- "I will send my fear before you, and will destroy all the people to whom you shall come, and I will make all your enemies turn their backs unto you." (Exodus 23:27)

9. Exclusive: Taiwan in talks to make first purchase of sophisticated U.S. drones - Reuters

The United States is negotiating the sale of at least four of its large sophisticated aerial drones to Taiwan for the first time, according to six U.S. sources familiar with the negotiations, in a deal that is likely to ratchet up tensions with China.

The SeaGuardian surveillance drones have a range of 6,000 nautical miles (11,100 km), far greater than the 160-mile range of Taiwan's current fleet of drones.

While the sale of the unmanned aerial vehicles has been tacitly authorized by the State Department, two of the people said, it is not known whether the U.S. officials have approved exporting the drones with weapons attached, one of them said.

The deal has to be approved by members of Congress who may receive formal notification as soon as next month, two of the people said. Congress could choose to block a final agreement. Republican and Democratic U.S. senators introduced legislation on Thursday that would block the export, transfer or trade of many advanced drones to countries that are not close U.S. allies. Sales would be allowed to NATO members, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Japan and Israel. (Read more)

- Father God, we thank You for this opportunity to be a blessing to Taiwan, a valuable ally in this region. We ask that Your hand of protection would continue to rest upon the people of Taiwan, in Your name, amen.

"In everything, give thanks." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

10. Pentagon chief expresses concern to Chinese counterpart about Beijing's activity in South China Sea - Reuters

U.S. Defense Secretary Mark Esper expressed concerns about Beijing's "destabilizing" activity near Taiwan and the South China Sea in a call with Chinese Defense Minister Wei Fenghe, the Pentagon said on Thursday, the first time the two are believed to have spoken since March. The call came as U.S.-China ties have rapidly deteriorated this year over a range of issues, including Beijing's handling of the coronavirus, telecommunications equipment maker Huawei [HWT.UL], China's territorial claims in the South China Sea and its clamp-down on Hong Kong.

"Secretary Esper also communicated the importance that the PRC (People's Republic of China) abide by international laws, rules and norms and meet its international commitments," Pentagon spokesman Jonathan Hoffman told reporters, adding that the call lasted for an hour and a half. A separate Pentagon statement said both sides agreed on "developing the systems necessary for crisis communications and risk reduction."

Esper has said previously that he hopes to visit China by the end of the year to improve "crisis-communications" channels and address other areas of mutual interest. The United States has long opposed China's expansive territorial claims in the South China Sea and has sent warships regularly through the strategic waterway. "Wei . . . urged the U.S. side to stop erroneous words and deeds, improve the management and control of maritime risks, avoid taking dangerous moves that may escalate the situation, and safeguard regional peace and stability," China's official Xinhua news agency said.

China on Thursday threatened to take countermeasures over a trip to Taiwan by U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar, as the Chinese-claimed island country geared up for its highest-level U.S. official visit in four decades. In June, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo met China's top diplomat, Yang Jiechi, in Hawaii but a senior U.S. official said that China was not forthcoming in those talks. (Read more)

- Almighty God, we pray You stop Beijing's activities in the South China Sea. Dislodge their territorial claims in this region, and strip them of their power. We pray in the Name of Jesus, amen.

Update: Beirut

Probe examining if foreign 'rocket or bomb' caused Beirut blast - president

Lebanese President Michel Aoun said Friday that the probe into this week's devastating blast in Beirut was investigating the option of foreign involvement, despite many commentators saying the possibility was unlikely.

"The cause has not been determined yet. There is a possibility of external interference through a rocket or bomb or other act," local media quoted Aoun as saying, according to the Reuters news agency.

He added that the investigation was being conducted on three levels, according to the report. "First, how the explosive material entered and was stored . . . second whether the explosion was a result of negligence or an accident . . . and third the possibility that there was external interference."

There has been no evidence presented to suggest foreign interference behind the blast, which occurred when ammonium nitrate stored at the port ignited under unclear circumstances. Both Hezbollah and Israeli officials quickly ruled out the notion of any Israeli involvement; Israel has sent condolences and offers of assistance.

What ignited the 2,750 tonnes of fertilizer is still unclear - officials have said work had recently begun on repairs to the warehouse, while fireworks were stored nearby.

Lebanese authorities have announced an inquiry into Tuesday's explosion and a military prosecutor on Thursday said 16 people had been detained. They included the port's general manager, Hassan Koraytem, a judicial source told AFP.

The central bank also ordered an asset freeze for seven port and customs officials, an official and a banking source told AFP. (Times of Israel) Read more

- Father God, we continue to bring this tragedy before Your Throne of Grace, asking only that those who are responsible for this disaster be identified and brought to justice. We continue, too, to bring the precious citizens of the nation of Lebanon before You, asking that Your hand of comfort and healing rest upon each one. In Your name, amen.

"For there is nothing that is hidden that won't be disclosed, and there is no secret that won't be brought out into the light!" (Mark 4:22 TPT)

> > > BREAKING! Lebanese government resigns en masse - minister

Lebanon's health minister says the government has resigned over last week's devastating blast at the Beirut port.

The minister, Hamad Hassan, spoke with reporters at the end of a cabinet meeting on Monday.

He says: "The whole government resigned."

Hassan also added that Prime Minister Hassan Diab will head to the presidential palace to "hand over the resignation in the name of all the ministers."

Breaking your back with the rod of obstruction

There is mounting evidence that powerful democrats, the media and the deep state continue to work in obstructing relaunching the economy, keeping communities safe, and any movement to end the COVID 19 pandemic in America. Over the weekend, for example, President Trump issued Executive Orders to defer payroll tax obligations, provide wage assistance to those who have lost their jobs, postpone evictions of renters and provide financial assistance for rent, and extended student loan repayment relief. Much of the money is from unused funds allocated for other areas of relief. These measures were taken because Democrats are playing stall-ball with the election at your expense.

The president explained in one of his Executive Orders: "Because many of the relief programs created by the Congress have expired or will shortly expire, my Administration and the Republican leadership in the United States Senate have proposed multiple options to continue to provide needed relief to Americans. But Democratic Members of Congress have twice blocked temporary extensions of supplemental unemployment benefits. Political games that harm American lives are unacceptable, especially during a global pandemic, and therefore I am taking action to provide financial security to Americans." Now the Democratic Leadership is expressing outrage over the president's actions.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) Sunday told CNN's "State of the Union," "The fact is, is that whether they're legal or not takes time to figure out. I associate my remarks with what the senator who says, they're unconstitutional slop. Right now, we want to address the needs of the American people. As my constitutional advisers tell me, they're absurdly unconstitutional. But right now our focus -and that's a parallel thing-right now the focus, the priority, has to be on, again, meeting the needs of the American people sufficiently allocating resources to send children to school, not threatening schools that if they don't have actual attendance, they won't get the federal dollars." No Pelosi, it's about putting food on the table.

Pelosi is taking a lot of words to say that she and the Democratic Party leadership are doing everything they can to obstruct Trump's efforts to help American citizens during a crisis. She and the Democratic Party are hoping that by locking down the economy and abandoning efforts to assist those in need, that Americans will vote Trump out of office. That's all this is. Pelosi says her focus is meeting the needs of the American people, but they are refusing to pass legislation that does that. When Trump bypasses them, they cry foul. As Christ said in Matthew 24:4, "Take heed that no man deceive you." The Bible often warns against deception. The deception here is Democratic Party leadership wants Trump out of office and they are willing to break your back to get it done, while saying that Trump is wrong to help you.

Earthquake in North Carolina

North Carolina's strongest earthquake in 94 years shakes area along Virginia border

A 5.1-magnitude earthquake hit about 2 miles from the town of Sparta, North Carolina, early Sunday, along the state's border with Virginia, according to the preliminary report from the US Geological Survey.

It's the strongest quake to shake the state since 1926, according to the North Carolina Geological Survey.

The quake, whose epicenter is in Alleghany County, was felt as far away as Washington D.C. and Atlanta, according to reports to the USGS.

It struck about 8:07 a.m. ET.

Alleghany County Sheriff Bryan Maines was getting ready for church when "stuff started falling off of the wall," he said. The house appeared to shift, and it felt like it might fall down, he told CNN.

"Started getting some sheet rock damage. My chimney was starting to crack," he said. "Several houses with structure damage. We have folks out right now. There are houses that have shifted 1 or 2 inches off their foundation. There are folks who have had to leave their homes because it's not safe inside. It's a pretty big event."

There were no immediate reports of injuries, but there is damage in the town of about 1,800 people, Sparta Mayor Wes Brinegar said, adding that the foundation of his home cracked and items fell from shelves inside his home.

"It felt like a big locomotive going by and a big wave coming underneath the bed," the mayor said. "I've lived here my whole life and have never felt anything like that."

The USGS says earthquakes become destructive at a magnitude of 4.0 to 5.0, depending on variables. A 5.3-magnitude is considered a moderate quake, the USGS says. (CNN) Read more and view photos here.

A Classic Hymn

Classic Hymns

The Solid Rock (My Hope is Built)

"The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock."(Matthew 7:25-26)

Lyrics

My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus' blood and righteousness.
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly trust in Jesus' name.

Refrain

On Christ the solid rock I stand,
All other ground is sinking sand;
All other ground is sinking sand.

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.

Refrain

His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood.
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.

Refrain

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found.
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne.

Refrain

Tuesday night to feature the 'most popular meteor shower' of 2020

The wait is over.

For stargazers in North America, one of the most highly anticipated and reliable meteor showers will peak next week. The Perseid meteor shower will peak on Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning, a reliable meteor shower that puts on a show year in and year out.

"The Perseids are the most popular meteor shower as they peak on warm August nights as seen from the northern hemisphere," the American Meteor Society (AMS) explained on its website.

This year, spectators across the Northern Hemisphere can expect to see between 50 and 75 meteors an hour under dark skies, which averages about one meteor every minute. Areas south of the equator will still be able to see some of the Perseids, but the hourly rates will be lower.

"The Geminid meteor shower in December produces about the same number of meteors. Both showers produce about four times more than any other shower during the year typically does," AccuWeather Astronomy Blogger Dave Samuhel said.

One big difference between the Perseids and the Geminids is the weather. August typically features more comfortable stargazing weather for the Perseids compared to December's cold and often cloudy conditions around the peak of the Geminids. Where and when to look

HERO NURSE SAVES THREE NEWBORN BABIES DURING BEIRUT EXPLOSION

"Al Roum Hospital was hardest hit, with 12 patients, 2 visitors and 4 nurses killed in the blast. This nurse was knocked unconscious, but still managed to rescue 3 newborn babies from the rubble, assist other wounded hospital staff and patients, and take calls..." -Alisi Kalouniviti-Facebook post

(Lebanon) - [GODTV.com] A captured image of a nurse saving three newborn babies during the Beirut explosion is being shared across the internet. People have hailed her as an inspiration for being calm and quick to think about rescuing the babies, putting her life on the line.

Photojournalist Bilal Jawich told CNN Arabic that he was on the outskirts of Beirut when the explosion happened. "I followed the smoke until I reached the port of Beirut," he said. His "professional intuition" brought him to Al Roum Hospital located in the Ashrafia area. The blast left the hospital severely damaged and non-operational.

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
