1. President Trump to tour tornado damage in Tennessee on Friday - USA Today
WASHINGTON - President Donald Trump said he will travel to Tennessee on Friday to review recovery efforts from the "horrible" and "very vicious" tornadoes that killed at least 19 people. "We're working with the leaders in Tennessee," Trump told the National Association of Counties Legislative Conference in a speech Tuesday that included discussion of his efforts to fight the spread of the coronavirus.
Proclaiming that the federal government will help Tennessee recover, Trump described tornadoes as "vicious," and said: "If you're in their path, bad things happen. Really bad things happen."
The tornadoes were part of a powerful storm system stretching from Texas to North Carolina. One tornado slashed through Nashville for miles, leaving destroyed homes and downed powerlines in its wake. At least 48 structures collapsed around Nashville, according to the Nashville Fire Department. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee declared a state of emergency.
"It is heartbreaking," Lee said. "We have had loss of life all across the state. Four different counties, as of this morning, had confirmed fatalities." (Read more)
2. Nashville tornado damage includes destroyed airport, collapsed homes as death toll climbs - Fox News
As daylight broke across the greater Nashville area Tuesday, the devastation from a tornado that tore through parts of the city under the cover of darkness was revealed. At an airport, small jets were tossed. Power lines were down. Dozens of buildings had collapsed.
The death toll jumped to at least 22 people after tornadoes ripped across central Tennessee, and police and fire crews spent hours pulling survivors and bodies from wrecked buildings.
"Last night was a reminder about how fragile life is," Nashville Mayor John Cooper told reporters at a news conference Tuesday morning.
John C. Tune Airport, Nashville International's sister airport in West Nashville, "sustained significant damage due to severe weather," spokeswoman Kym Gerlock said in a statement early Tuesday. 3. Nashville tornado: Over 48 building collapses - Fox News
A powerful storm system produced at least two tornadoes that struck central Tennessee early on Tuesday morning, including one that caused significant damage near downtown Nashville and killed several people.
"Our community has been impacted significantly," the Mt. Juliet Police Department tweeted early Tuesday. Multiple homes were damaged and multiple injuries were reported, the department said. "We continue to search for injured. Stay home if you can."
Metro Nashville police officers and fire crews were responding to about 40 building collapses around the city as neighborhoods were littered with blown-down walls and roofs, snapped power lines and huge broken trees.
"A tornado skipped across the county," Nashville Mayor John Cooper told the Tennessean while visiting an emergency shelter early Tuesday. "You do have people at the hospital and frankly there have been fatalities." (Read more)

1. Netanyahu's bloc likely to stay at 58 seats - Jerusalem Post
An announcement of final yet unofficial results of Monday's election will be made on Thursday evening, the Central Elections Committee announced on Wednesday.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's bloc of right-wing and religious parties will remain at the 58 seats in the current vote count, three away from obtaining a blocking majority in the next Knesset, sources in the Central Elections Committee said Wednesday morning.
An announcement of final yet unofficial results of Monday's election will be made on Thursday evening, the Central Elections Committee announced on Wednesday.
2. Health Ministry denies Israel to quarantine American tourists - Jerusalem Post
The Health Ministry denied claims by one of its consultants that Israel is considering quarantining visitors from the United States.
"It is not currently on the agenda," a spokesperson for the ministry told The Jerusalem Post. His statements came after a consultant with the ministry told Kan radio Tuesday that the country is considering putting all American citizens who travel to Israel under 14-day quarantine.
In the interview, Dr. Tal Brosh, head of the infectious disease unit at Assuta Ashdod and member of a Health Ministry committee that evaluates the coronavirus threat, said that such a quarantine is "under discussion, of course" among officials. He also said: "I would recommend it, but let's complete the discussions first."
3. Netanyahu calls on Israelis to stop handshakes; new EU nations added to quarantine list -- www.watch.org
Netanyahu delivers a statement to the press on the measures Israel is implementing to combat the spread of the new coronavirus, and calls on Israelis to refrain entirely from shaking each other's hands.
He says that the world is in the midst of a pandemic - "this is the truth and it must be said."
He also adds Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and France - but notably not the United States - to the list of countries that Israelis must self-quarantine after returning from.
4. At AIPAC, VP Mike Pence praises Trump's record on Israel, slams Sanders - Jerusalem Post
WASHINGTON - Vice President Mike Pence addressed the crowd at AIPAC Policy Conference on Monday, where he praised US President Donald Trump's record on Israel.
The vice president mentioned US President Donald Trump's decision to move the American Embassy to Jerusalem and the president's recognition of Israeli sovereignty over the Golan Heights as well as the State Department's announcement that the Israeli settlements in the West Bank are not illegal. He also mentioned the decision to close the PLO office in Washington and the passage of the Taylor Force act.
Pence also slammed the Democratic front-runner, Bernie Sanders, for boycotting the conference. "The bipartisan consensus this once supported our most cherished ally and has been so nobly and ably championed by you here at AIPAC, is actually beginning to erode in one of America's two major political parties," the vice president said.
5. With Netanyahu Victorious but Lacking Majority, Difficult Process of Forming a Government Begins - algemeiner.com
Following Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's victory in Monday's Knesset elections, the difficult negotiations to form a governing coalition got underway on Tuesday.
Complicating the picture is that there is still no clear path to a government, as Netanyahu's rightist-religious bloc of parties did not gain enough seats to form a workable coalition on its own. As a result, several possibilities have emerged, including a unity government with the centrist Blue and White party or convincing some of its MKs to defect to Netanyahu's Likud.
Israeli daily Yediot Aharonot reported that some in Blue and White were urging the party's leaders to at least explore the possibility of a unity government.
An anonymous source within the party cited a proposed unity government deal from after the September elections, which Blue and White turned down, telling Yediot that if the party had taken the deal, "Benny Gantz would be taking office as prime minister in two weeks and replacing Netanyahu, instead of giving a concession speech."

1. West Virginia governor signs 'born alive' bill protecting children who survive abortions-Washington Examiner
West Virginia Gov. Jim Justice signed legislation Monday to punish doctors who do not aid a baby born after an attempted abortion.
The Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act easily passed both bodies of West Virginia's Republican-dominated legislature this month. The bill was largely a symbolic gesture since existing laws already prohibit doctors from withholding medical help in such cases of failed abortions.
"I stand for life - in all cases, at all times," Justice said at the Monday signing ceremony. It is "unbelievable, to tell you the truth, that we have to do such a thing."

2. Supreme Court To Hear First Major Abortion Case Since Kavanaugh's Confirmation. Here's What To Know-The Daily Caller
The United States Supreme Court will hear an abortion case for the first time in Justice Brett Kavanaugh's tenure as a Louisiana abortion business challenges a state law that defendants say protects women.
The court will take up June Medical Services v. Russo Wednesday, a case in which an abortion provider challenges a 2014 Louisiana state law that requires abortion providers to have admitting privileges in a hospital within 30 miles of the abortion facility. These admitting privileges would allow a woman to go directly to the hospital if she needs urgent care.
Pro-abortion opponents say that the law, the Unsafe Abortion Protection Act or Act 620, would hinder and potentially eliminate abortion access in Louisiana. Pro-life advocates argue that the Louisiana law protects women from abortion doctors who fail to properly and safely perform abortions. They also argue that abortion providers have no place to be suing the state on behalf of the very women whom the Louisiana law seeks to protect.

3. Chief Justice Roberts rebukes Schumer's 'dangerous' comments about Gorsuch and Kavanaugh-Washington Examiner
Chief Justice John Roberts publicly condemned a top Democrat for threatening comments aimed at two justices as the Supreme Court considers a case on abortion.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Wednesday that the Supreme Court's Neil Gorsuch and Brett Kavanaugh, conservative justices appointed by President Trump, would "pay the price" if they choose to uphold a Louisiana law that mandates abortion doctors be preapproved to check abortion patients into a nearby hospital.
The statement by the New York Democrat prompted a rare public rebuke from Roberts.
"Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous," Robert said. "All members of the court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter."

4. 19 states sue administration over diverting military funding to border wall-Fox News
California and 18 other states are suing the Trump administration over its latest allocation of military funding to build the border wall.
The lawsuit, which was filed in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California, comes in response to the White House's new $3.8 billion allocation to construct the wall along the United States' border with Mexico. The most recent allocation is in addition to previous diversion of Pentagon funds.
"Use of these additional federal funds for the construction of a border wall is contrary to Congress's intent and in violation of the U.S. Constitution," lawyers for the states wrote in a court filing.
The U.S. Supreme Court and some other courts have said the administration can begin diverting billions of dollars in military spending to the wall, and work has been done on some sections. But U.S. District Judge Barbara Rothstein ruled Thursday that a case brought by Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson contains different issues which are not covered by those decisions.

5. Biden wins Maine primary, adding to Super Tuesday victories-The Hill
Former Vice President Joe Biden has won the Maine Democratic presidential primary, scoring another victory over Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) after a stellar showing on Super Tuesday.
The Associated Press called the race for Biden on Wednesday at 1:57 p.m. ET. Sanders was favored in forecasts in Maine heading into Super Tuesday, but Biden claimed victory in the Pine Tree State amid a surge in momentum heading into this week's contests.
The results mean that Biden has won 10 of the 14 states in which voters cast ballots on Super Tuesday, including major victories in Texas and Virginia.

6. Lindsey Graham has started interviewing witnesses in FISA abuse investigation-Washington Examiner
Senate Judiciary Chairman Lindsey Graham has started deposing witnesses in his committee's investigation into abuse of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act during the 2016 election.
The South Carolina Republican told reporters on Tuesday that he had begun conducting closed-door depositions but did not elaborate on the state of the investigation, according to the Hill. Graham requested closed-door interviews with 17 Department of Justice and FBI officials last month.
In a Feb. 12 interview with CBS News, Graham said that depositions would begin sometime in late February or early March and said that the proceedings could last for weeks.

7. Mike Pence shook hands with classmates of a Florida schoolboy who is now in quarantine-The Daily Mail
Vice President Mike Pence shook hands with the classmates of a Florida school boy who may have been exposed to coronavirus through his mother's work at a hospital.
Pence was in Sarasota for a campaign event last week when he met students from the Sarasota Military Academy. They met on the tarmac of an airport and he did not visit the school.
He had been and gone by the time it was announced that the boy - who was not one of the students he met - had been quarantined along with his mother as a precaution. Pence told reporters at the White House on Tuesday he wasn't concerned.
'No,' he said at a briefing on the coronavirus when asked about the handshake.
'We use a lot of common sense,' he said, adding that 'I shake a lot of hands.'

8. Lawmakers clinch deal for $8.3 billion to combat coronavirus-The Hill
Congressional negotiators clinched a deal on Wednesday to provide more than $8 billion in funding to combat the coronavirus outbreak.
The agreement is expected to quickly clear Congress, potentially as soon as this week, amid growing concerns about a widespread outbreak within the United States. The House is expected to vote on the bill Wednesday.
The bill, negotiated by Senate Appropriations Committee Chairman Richard Shelby (R-Ala.) and House Appropriations Committee Chairwoman Nita Lowey (D-N.Y.), provides $7.76 billion to combat the coronavirus - three times the $2.5 billion initially requested by the White House.
It also authorizes another $500 million in waivers for Medicare telehealth restrictions, bringing the total figure greenlighted under the bill up to $8.3 billion. President Trump is expected to sign the legislation once it passes Congress and "get the funding out the door without delay."

9. US launches airstrikes on Taliban fighters who killed 20 Afghan soldiers in overnight attacks-The Daily Mail
The US launched an airstrike today against Taliban fighters in retaliation for the killing of at least 20 Afghan soldiers and policemen in a string of attacks.
It was the first strike by American forces since a troop withdrawal agreement was signed between the two sides on Saturday as part of a historic peace deal. Taliban militants killed Afghan soldiers and police officers on Tuesday night, just hours after US President Donald Trump said he had a 'very good' chat with their political chief.
The militants have ramped up violence against Afghan security forces in recent days, ending a partial truce put in place during the run-up to a landmark US-Taliban withdrawal deal signed in Doha on Saturday. Insurgents launched attacks on at least three army posts in Kunduz and attacked police in central Uruzgan province on Tuesday night.
In response the Pentagon launched a strike in Afghanistan's southern Helmand province, a US forces spokesman said today.

Super Socialist Tuesday
Rank and file Democrats appear to have rejected Senator Bernie Sanders' (D-VT) Democratic Socialism in contrast to Joe Biden's odd positions and brain freezes during the Democratic Party's Super Tuesday primaries. Biden, now being called "comeback kid" by the media, garnered some 453 delegates to Sanders' 382. For those who watch these things, don't get too comfortable with the results that would appear to scorn the new socialist direction of the Democratic Party. On issues like immigration, gun control, healthcare, national defense, abortion, the whole alphabet sex and gender identification, and foreign policy (Israel), there is little to no difference between Sanders and Biden. They are socialists.
Sanders, is just the only one among them honest enough to admit it. And that is why the Democratic leadership is so freaked out against him-he is exposing the true nature of the 21st Century Democratic Party. This party has embraced socialism and is serving as an antithesis to anything remotely conservative politically or socially. When people say that "all politicians are alike" they are speaking in very general terms. The more the Democratic Party embraces socialism, the bigger the chasm between what America has been and what the socialists want to make it. Overall, you have a choice here-go socialist or not. It may not be much of a choice, but if people vote for Democrats, they are likely voting for a socialist-oriented candidate.
To me, socialism means failure. It fails everywhere. It is a polite word for communism. Socialism leads to tyranny. But even more so, it leads to the destruction of the middle class, the economy, the ability of a nation to thrive. Socialism pulls people down, rather than providing a platform for opportunity. Think about it: socialism taxes everyone, redistributes the wealth, expands the government, and enriches those in power-all in the name of helping the poor, substantiating the rights of the "underserved," and giving power to the people. It's all a great and debilitating lie. There are no absolutes in politics, but it is a safe bet to equate socialism with the Democratic Party and its candidates. Look at the platforms.
People will say Christians shouldn't be concerned with politics. In reality, we are to be salt and light, and as Romans 12:21 says, "Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good." This is political and spiritual. If we were doing our jobs well, rather than the prosperity, self-indulgent, extra-biblical, emotional doctrines that are popular to increase attendance (and the offering plate), there would be no move toward socialism in this country. Our children would understand right from wrong. There would be discernment. The principles of loving our neighbors and doing onto others as we would want done onto ourselves would be coming from the heart, rather than turned into programs and mandated by the government. But these things are not foundational to modern church "missions," hence we have events like Super Socialist Tuesday.

About the Hymn:
Miss Charlotte Elliott was visiting some friends in the West End of London, and there met the eminent minister, César Malan. While seated at supper, the minister said he hoped that she was a Christian. She took offense at this, and replied that she would rather not discuss that question. Dr. Malan said that he was sorry if had offended her, that he always liked to speak a word for his Master, and that he hoped that the young lady would some day become a worker for Christ.
When they met again at the home of a mutual friend, three weeks later, Miss Elliott told the minister that ever since he had spoken to her she had been trying to find her Saviour, and that she now wished him to tell her how to come to Christ. "Just come to him as you are," Dr. Malan said. This she did, and went away rejoicing. Shortly afterward she wrote this hymn.
Evangelist Billy Graham said he was saved in 1934 in a revival meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina, led by Mordecai Ham, after hearing Just As I Am. This became an altar call song in the Billy Graham Crusades in the latter half of the 20th Century. Graham also used it in the title of his 1997 book, Just As I Am: The Autobiography of Billy Graham.

COMET ATLAS IS PLUNGING TOWARD THE SUN
Comet ATLAS (C/2019 Y4) is coming ... and the sun is waiting. In late May, the dirty snowball will dip inside the orbit of Mercury, passing only 0.25 AU from the sun. No one knows what will happen when the comet's icy core is exposed to solar heat at point blank range.
"ATLAS is a bit of a wildcard, and there's a spectrum of possibilities as it nears the sun," says Karl Battams of the Naval Research Lab in Washington DC. "At one extreme, it could simply crumble away in the coming weeks, and at the other extreme it could brighten up tremendously. It has an unusually small perihelion distance inside of Mercury's orbit, which bodes well for getting those frozen gases fizzing furiously."
At the moment Comet ATLAS is beyond the orbit of Mars. Even at that great distance, it is already brightening, shooting up 100-fold since the beginning of February. Currently, it looks like a fuzzy star of 11th magnitude in the Big Dipper--an easy target for backyard telescopes.
By the end of May, the comet could be as bright as a 1st magnitude star. Astronomers will be struggling to see it, however, through the glare of the approaching sun.
"All is not lost!" says Battams. "We have a number of space telescopes designed to view objects very close to the sun. For instance, the Heliospheric Imager on NASA's STEREO spacecraft will get a great view of ATLAS from mid-May through early June. The camera is very sensitive, so we might be able to observe ATLAS's tail interacting with the solar wind and outflows."
"There's also the WISPR camera on NASA's Parker Solar Probe," he continues. "We will potentially be able view ATLAS from WISPR, concurrently with the STEREO observations, but it would require a non-standard pointing configuration for us, so the operation teams are currently assessing our options."
Can't wait for May? Amateur astronomers with mid-sized backyard telescopes can observe Comet ATLAS now. Monitoring is encouraged. Outbursts are possible in the weeks ahead as new veins of volatile material are exposed by intensifying sunlight.

'The Lord Is Gracious': Christian School Smashed by Nashville Tornado Finds 'a Blessing' Despite the Rubble
(Tennessee) - [CBN News] A Christian school in Nashville was severely damaged by the tornado that tore through Tennessee early Tuesday morning.
On a Facebook post, Donelson Christian Academy (DCA) wrote, "Due to significant damage to the Academy from the tornado, DCA will be closed. During a live video, DCA Principal Bret Schierling explained how severe the damage was throughout the campus.
'A Blessing': No Students Hurt
"The biggest part of the damage is to the elementary wing. The roof is off on quite a bit of this-a lot of little kids items-which makes us thankful this didn't happen during the school day," Schierling said. "It's good that it happened at one-o'clock in the morning rather than one-o'clock in the afternoon. We can find a blessing in that even."

Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God."
