Focus on Israel
1. Palestinians cut ties with Israel, U.S. after rejecting peace plan - Reuters
CAIRO (Reuters) - The Palestinian Authority has cut all ties with the United States and Israel, including those relating to security, after rejecting a Middle East peace plan presented by U.S. President Donald Trump, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said on Saturday.
Abbas was in Cairo to address the Arab League, which backed the Palestinians in their opposition to Trump's plan.
The blueprint, endorsed by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calls for the creation of a demilitarised Palestinian state that excludes Jewish settlements built in occupied territory and is under near-total Israeli security control.
"We've informed the Israeli side . . . that there will be no relations at all with them and the United States including security ties," Abbas told the one-day emergency meeting, called to discuss Trump's plan.
Israeli officials had no immediate comment on his remarks.
2. Turkey's President Erdogan Lashes Out at Gulf States for 'Betraying' Palestinians - The Algemeiner
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Friday criticized Saudi Arabia and other Gulf Arab nations for not speaking out against the US Middle East plan which he said endorsed the Israeli annexation of Palestinian lands.
Erdogan, who has positioned himself as a global champion for Muslim causes, said Arab nations' stance toward Palestinians was pitiable and countries that failed to speak out would be responsible for "grave results."
Turkey dismissed the plan as an attempt to steal Palestinian lands and kill off prospects of establishing a Palestinian state alongside Israel.
3. Israelis and Palestinians consider how annexation of Jordan Valley could affect them - JNS.org
With campaigns under way before the third round of Israeli elections within a year on March 2, Likud officials, and the Blue and White Party, have repeatedly made statements over the past few weeks in favor of annexing the Jordan Valley.
And that has elicited vocal reactions among the public both for and against the idea.
The Trump administration's peace plan, revealed at the White House on Jan. 28 with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in attendance, gave American approval for annexation, paving the way for the next Israeli government to actualize its campaign promises.

4. IDF attacks underground Hamas war room - Israel National News
IDF fighter jets and helicopters attacked several Hamas terrorist targets in the northern Gaza Strip overnight Saturday.
Among the targets attacked were underground infrastructures used by Hamas' military wing, including a structure which serves as a military war room.
Attacking these targets impairs the capacity of the terrorist organization. The attack was carried out in response to the rocket fire and incendiary balloon attacks from the Gaza Strip toward Israeli territory during Shabbat.
"The IDF views any terrorist activity toward Israeli territory as very serious and is in high readiness for a variety of scenarios. The IDF will continue to act as necessary against attempts to harm Israeli civilians," said the IDF Spokesperson's Unit.
"The Hamas terrorist organization is responsible for everything that happens inside and outside of the Gaza Strip, and it will bear the consequences for the terrorist actions against Israeli citizens," the IDF stressed.
5. Caroline Glick: The Oslo blood libel is over - JNS.org
When Israel embarked on the Oslo peace process it accepted Oslo's foundational assumption that Israel is to blame for the Palestinian war against it. From the first Oslo agreement, signed on the White House lawn on Sept. 13, 1993, through all its derivative deals, Israel was required to carry out "confidence-building measures," to prove its good faith and peaceful intentions to Arafat and his deputies.
Time after time, Israel was required to release terrorists from prison as a precondition for negotiations with the PLO. The goal of those negotiations in turn was to force Israel to release more terrorists from prison, and give more land, more money, more international legitimacy and still more terrorists to the PLO.
Last Tuesday, this state of affairs ended. . .

As I was walking to the prayer meeting this morning, I cried out to God to show us how to pray. I sensed Him saying to me, "Stay the course! Pray based on My lines and not on the headlines." May He give us the wisdom and perseverance to do this.
8. Kushner: 'Deal of the Century' map can be changed by Palestinians - Jerusalem Post
Palestinians can weigh in on the "Deal of the Century" map, US envoy Jared Kushner told the Egyptian MBC Masr network in an interview, where he also spoke of the Trump administration's plans to recognize Israeli settlements in the West Bank. "If the Palestinians don't like where the line is drawn, they should come and tell us where they want to draw it," Kushner told Egyptian anchor Amr Adib. "If the leaders of the Palestinians want to do what is best for their people, I think they will read the plan. They will go through it. They will say, 'there is some areas where we want to see further compromise. Let's sit with Israel. Let's talk about moving the line here, moving the line there. We need this. We can't hit this criteria," Kushner said.
9. Russia doubts viability of Trump peace plan, EU stresses commitment to 2 states - Times of Israel
A Kremlin spokesperson voiced criticism Sunday of the Trump administration's proposal for Israeli-Palestinian peace, saying it was not in compliance with United Nations Security Council resolutions.
"There is a whole number of respective resolutions of the UN Security Council," Dmitry Peskov told Russian media. "It's obvious that certain points of this plan are not in full compliance with the UNSC resolutions.
"We see the Palestinians' reaction, we see the reaction of the whole number of Arab states, which show solidarity with the Palestinians in opposing this plan," Peskov said. "This certainly raises doubts over its viability."

1. Al-Qaeda claims December shooting attack at US naval base - Jerusalem Post
An audio recording purporting to be from the Islamist militant group Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) claimed responsibility on Sunday for a fatal shooting in December at a US naval base in Pensacola, Florida, but provided no evidence.
"We congratulate our Muslim nation and embrace the operation of the martyr hero, the daring knight Muhammad bin Saeed Al-Shamrani," said the audio, released by Al Qaeda's Yemen branch.Three people were killed in the shooting. (Read more)
- Thank You, Lord, that since that tragedy, the Department of Defense has deported all other Saudis who were in this training program; and none will be allowed back in. We pray today for the safekeeping of all of our men and women in uniform, across the world, who are protecting our homeland and our interests overseas. In Jesus' name, amen.
- "For whatever is hidden is meant to be disclosed, and whatever is concealed is meant to be brought out into the open." (Mark 4:22)
2. Coronavirus declared public health emergency in US - Fox News
Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced that the coronavirus has been declared a public health emergency in the U.S. Beginning at 5 p.m. on Feb. 2, U.S. citizens returning from Wuhan will be subject to quarantine. Azar said that President Trump is also temporarily suspending entry into the U.S. for foreign nationals who pose a risk of transmitting the virus. The Department of Homeland Security also announced that starting on Sunday, flights coming to the U.S. from China will be funneled through seven airports that are equipped to screen passengers for symptoms of the virus.
While officials continued to insist that the risk of the virus to the American public remains low, Azar said the measures being taken are to help "focus efforts as we are dealing with unknowns." The announcement comes just hours after the CDC announced that the 195 passengers who arrived in California on a flight from China on Wednesday were being kept under a 14-day quarantine as they are continually monitored for symptoms. - Almighty God, these are the last days before the return of Jesus and prophetic messages have been spoken regarding the likes of the Coronavirus. 3. Pentagon to prepare coronavirus quarantine housing for 1,000 people - Washington Examiner
Defense Secretary Mark Esper has instructed the Pentagon to ready military housing for 1,000 people as it prepares to quarantine those who may have the new coronavirus.
"Earlier today, we have learned that Defense Secretary Mark Esper approved a request from the Department of Health and Human Services to provide DOD housing support for up to 1,000 people who may need to be quarantined as they travel back to the United States and may have been in places where they could've been exposed to the coronavirus," said CNN Pentagon correspondent Barbara Starr.
The news comes after Massachusetts confirmed the eighth U.S. case of the coronavirus, which has killed more than 250 and infected more than 1,000 people in China. "It's a stark, sudden reminder of just how much this public health situation is really expanding its impact," added Starr. (Read more)
- Father God, we pray there will be no more coronavirus cases in America. Protect our country from this catastrophic happening. We ask that there be no new cases found. In the Name of Jesus.
- "And the Lord will take away from you ll sickness, and will put none of the evil diseases of China, which you know, upon you; but will lay them upon all them that hate God." (Deuteronomy 7:15)
4. Trump's China deal, USMCA relieve Iowa farmers rocked by trade war - Fox News
Iowa's farmers were among the biggest causalities of the U.S.-China trade war, but President Trump's historic trade agreement has them confident of a comeback.
The phase one deal comes on top of trade pacts his administration has negotiated with Canada, Mexico and Japan. Those four countries are the biggest buyers of U.S. agriculture, purchasing more than $62 billion of products in 2018.
"You're going to have to get bigger tractors and a hell of a lot more land," Trump said at a rally in Des Moines, Iowa, on Thursday, just days before the state's caucuses to choose a Democratic candidate for president.
. . . Trump responded to the trade war's toll with two aid packages, totaling $28 billion, to help cushion the blow to U.S. farmers, whom he publicly praised. "What President Trump has done had to be done," Roy Bardole, president of the Iowa Soybean Association, told FOX Business. "It was necessary. I understand that. But we paid the price financially for two years, and it's time we get that trade back." (Read more)
- Lord God, we are asking for a miracle for Iowa's farmers through Trump's trade agreement. Bless his negotiation with Canada, Mexico and Japan with his two aid packages. We pray in the Name of Jesus.
- "Then shall he give the rain of your seed, that you shall sow the ground withal; and bread of the increase of the earth, and it shall be fat and plenteous: in that day shall your cattle feed in large pastures." (Isaiah 30:23)
5. Trump's Mar-a-Lago security breach: Officials shoot Connecticut woman's SUV after she crashes through checkpoints - CNBC News
Law enforcement officers fired multiple shots at a vehicle that crashed through two security checkpoints Friday at President Donald Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, police said. Two women were taken into custody shortly after the incident at the Palm Beach resort, which Trump is scheduled to visit later Friday, the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Department said. The incident does not appear related to terrorism, and no one was injured, officials said.
Police said they arrested a 30-year-old Connecticut resident, Hannah Roemhild, who allegedly was driving the SUV alone, without a passenger, when it crashed through the barriers at speeds in excess of 70 mph, driving on the wrong side of the road. Charges against her are pending. (Read more)
- Father God, we thank You for protecting President Trump's home from this woman's security breach. Cover all of his properties and homes by the angels who protect him. In the Name of Jesus we pray.
- "The angel of the Lord encamps round about them that fear and respect Him, and delivers them." (Psalm 41:2)
6. Dow plummets 600 points in worst day since August as coronavirus fears grow - CNBC
Stocks fell sharply on Friday, wiping out the Dow Jones Industrial Average's gain for January, as investors grew increasingly worried about the potential economic impact of China's fast-spreading coronavirus.
The Dow dropped 603.41 points, or 2.1%, to 28,256.03 in the 30-stock average's worst day since August. The S&P 500 had its worst day since October, falling 1.8% to 3,225.52. The Nasdaq Composite dropped 1.6% to 9,150.94.
On Friday, the U.S. declared the coronavirus a public health emergency within the country. Delta, American and United suspended all flights between China and the U.S.
The virus, which was first discovered in the Chinese city of Wuhan, has now spread to at least 18 other countries and has dampened sentiment over global economic growth. China's National Health Commission confirmed on Friday that there have been 9,692 confirmed cases of the coronavirus, with 213 deaths.
"There's fear going into the weekend," said Ilya Feygin, senior strategist at WallachBeth Capital. "The theme coming into this year was the Fed and Trump are going to bail us out of any problems, but the virus is something neither one can do anything about. That's a reason to become more fearful." (Read more)
- Father God, we lift up our voices in prayer to Almighty God asking that the souls of these who have coronavirus be saved. Jesus, we pray for the stock market to recover its global economic growth. Father, we come against major worldwide fear that has struck these 18 countries and maybe more. God, protect all nations in the world from this coronavirus and keep it isolated within China. In the mighty Name of Jesus we pray.
- "For the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is prefect toward Him." (2 Chronicles 16:9)
7. US, at least 17 countries to launch first-ever International Religious Freedom Alliance - Christian Post
Government officials from the United States and several countries will convene in Washington, D.C., next week on the eve of the National Prayer Breakfast for the inaugural meeting of the new International Religious Freedom Alliance. U.S. Ambassador-at-Large for International Religious Freedom Sam Brownback told reporters on Wednesday that the alliance is essentially like an "activist club" of countries that are serious about pushing religious freedom globally.
The alliance comes at a time when most of the world's population lives in countries where religious freedom is limited in some way. "I have not seen this type of organization or push on a human right that I am aware of before," Brownback explained this week. "This is the first effort really to get a group of nations that will be the activist on a particular human right to try to champion and pursue that cause more aggressively." He stressed that there is strong support for religious freedom around the world even though there is much "encroachment" on it. "We will be looking at things we can work collectively on and [how] we can push for religious freedom efforts around the world," he said. "We are excited about the countries and their enthusiasm."
According to Brownback, at least 17 countries so far have committed to the alliance. But he hopes that the number of countries represented at the Wednesday event will be in the "upper 20s." (Editor's note: as of this writing, that number is now 24 nations!) Read more.
- Father God, we offer You a great chorus of praise for the growth we now see at the global level of governments that now support religious freedom. We ask that Your hand of blessing would rest upon this gathering this week, and that over time and by the wooing of Your Holy Spirit, many would come to recognize You as the only true God, in Your name, amen.
- "Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved." (Acts 4:12)
8. Newt Gingrich: From Iowa to Milwaukee: How Monday's Caucus Could Shape the Democratic Convention - Newsweek
I first got engaged in the Iowa caucus when I was supporting Jack Kemp for president in the 1987-88 campaign. I personally ran in the Iowa caucus in 2012 as part of my presidential campaign. Callista and I crisscrossed the state for months (helped by the fact that she had gone to Luther College in Decorah, Iowa). We both know how volatile and rapidly changing the Iowa caucus can be.
Because Iowa has a caucus rather than a primary, the ability to get committed supporters to go out on a particular evening and spend several hours talking and voting is key. It really favors those with strong, devoted advocates. It also favors those who catch a wave at the last minute and surge by attracting all the undecided voters, who are not comfortable with other candidates. I don't know who will win the Democratic Iowa caucus Monday night. As an historian, I will analyze the results after the fact.
. . . If Sanders wins decisively, the convention will have a collection of the most radical speakers ever to appear at a major party convention-and the most radical platform ever adopted by a major party. If Bloomberg can find enough establishment allies to stop Sanders, the billionaire will have virtually guaranteed a civil war within the party. . . . (Read more)
- Almighty God, we pray that You will remove the volatile nature in the Iowa caucus and bring an upside-down change toward President Trump and the Republican Party majority. In the Name of Jesus we pray.
- "For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places." (Ephesians 6:12)
9. South Dakota House Passes Landmark Bill Banning Transgender Treatment on Children - Christian Headlines
South Dakota's House of Representatives passed a landmark bill Wednesday, criminalizing transgender treatments on children under 16, putting it on track to become the first state in the nation to outlaw sex-change for children.
The bill, H.B. 1057, passed the Republican-controlled House 46-23 and now moves to the Senate, which also is controlled by Republicans. The state's governor, Kristi Noem, is Republican, although she has expressed concern about the bill. The bill bans castration, vasectomies and mastectomies on children under 16 and also prohibits puberty-blocking drugs and "supraphysiologic" doses of testosterone and estrogen. Supraphysiologic is a medical term meaning greater than normally present in the body.
Medical professionals who violate it would be subject to a misdemeanor and could face one year in jail. "This bill is about protecting children," said Rep. Fred Deutsch, a bill supporter. (Read more)
- Father God, we thank You for the mercy shown to children by passing this landmark bill banning transgender treatment on children. We pray You will forever protect this mutilation of innocent children's bodies. As You have created them male or female, so let that be honored in all 50 states in America. We decree it done for the glory of God. In the Name of Jesus we pray.
- "God shall cover them with His feathers , and under His wings shall you trust: His truth shall be your shield and buckler." (Psalm 91:4)
10. Brexit Official as Britain Leaves European Union for Uncertain Future - Newsmax
The United Kingdom finally cast off from the European Union on Friday for an uncertain Brexit future, turning its back after 47 years on the post-World War II project that sought to build the ruined nations of Europe into a global power.
In its biggest geopolitical shift since losing its global empire, the United Kingdom slipped away at 11 p.m. GMT Friday in a step cast by Prime Minister Boris Johnson as the dawn of new era.
Thousands of Brexit supporters gathered outside the British parliament, waving flags, singing and reveling in a mix of nostalgia, patriotism and defiance.
"This is a fantastic day," said Tony Williams, 53, from south-east London. "We are free, from 11 o'clock, we have done it ... We have done it."
Brexit, once considered the unlikely dream of a motley crew of "eurosceptics" on the fringes of British politics, also weakens the EU, conceived as a way to bind together Europe's major powers in peace after centuries of conflict. (Read more)
- Father God, we pray that Britain will be guided by the mighty hand of the Lord to be revived and raised up to a new status in their freedom from the EU. Asking that they as a nation will turn their hearts toward the living God so they can be blessed. We pray in the Name of Jesus.
- "The Lord shall fight for you, and you shall hold your peace." (Exodus 14:14)

Classic Hymns
WE HAVE AN ANCHOR
WE HAVE AN ANCHOR "An anchor for the soul, firm and secure." (Hebrews 6:19)
Lyrics
Will your anchor hold in the storms of life,
When the clouds unfold their wings of strife?
When the strong tides lift and the cables strain,
Will your anchor drift, or firm remain?
Refrain
We have an anchor that keeps the soul
Steadfast and sure while the billows roll,
Fastened to the Rock which cannot move,
Grounded firm and deep in the Savior's love.
Will your anchor hold in the Straits of Fear-
When the breakers have told that the reef is near;
Though the tempest rave and the wild winds blow,
Not an angry wave shall our bark o'erflow.
Refrain
Will your anchor hold in the Floods of Death-
When the waters cold chill our latest breath,
On the rising tide it can never fail,
While our hopes abide within the Veil.
Refrain
Will your eyes behold through the gath'ring night
The city of gold, our harbor bright,
We shall anchor fast by the heav'nly shore,
With the storms all past forevermore. Refrain

Wintry feel returns to Iowa in time for the caucus on Monday
"A cold front is expected to slice southward across the state during Sunday night and Monday, causing major temperature fluctuations as millions of voters head out for the Iowa Caucuses," said AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski.
Forecast temperatures across Iowa are expected to start off in the 20s across the state in the morning, rising only into the 30s for most by the afternoon.
In addition to the chilly conditions, gusty winds of 15-25 mph are expected across the region Monday.
The winds are likely to be more of an annoyance and not likely strong enough to have a major influence on ground travel or cause other problems like power outages. However, it will make it feel even cooler than the actual reading on the thermometer.
Voter turnout and election results have been linked to weather conditions in past research conducted by AccuWeather. In a 2016 analysis of overall weather trends and voting data, utilizing L2 as a resource, AccuWeather found that uncomfortable conditions, such as frigid or hot and muggy weather can deter swing voters. Additionally, women were found to be more sensitive to cold conditions than men, and younger voters, aged 18 to 24, have higher turnout rates when the weather is sunny and warm.
