17 States Join Texas Election Suit Amid Trump Pledge to Intervene in Case - Newsmax
Donald Trump said his campaign would seek to join a bid by Texas to challenge the president’s election defeat at the U.S. Supreme Court. Now, 17 other states have filed in support of the case, which allies call the culmination of Trump's legal challenges and critics dismiss as a publicity stunt.
“This is the big one,” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning. Trump must petition the Supreme Court to be allowed to intervene.
Seventeen other states filed a brief in support of the Texas suit, brought by the state’s scandal-plagued attorney general, Ken Paxton. Texas is seeking to prevent electors from Michigan, Georgia, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania from participating in the Electoral College on Dec. 14.
The Supreme Court on Tuesday evening gave the states until 3 p.m. Thursday to file responses.
Paxton’s case repeats allegations about mail-in voting that have already been roundly rejected in dozens of courts across the nation.
The Texas suit was filed on the same day as the Dec. 8 “safe harbor” date for states to certify their slates of electors to send to the Electoral College. The passing of that deadline means time is short for Trump’s effort to overturn his re-election defeat, in which he’s sought to pressure state legislatures to override voters and appoint alternative electors who would back him instead of Joe Biden.
Trump also said that his campaign hadn’t been part of a separate case, brought by a Pennsylvania congressman, that the Supreme Court rebuffed on Tuesday -- the first time the high court has weighed in on Republican litigation to try to overturn the election outcome.
“This was not my case as has been so incorrectly reported,” Trump wrote in a second tweet on Wednesday.
In a one-sentence order, the court said Tuesday that it would not grant a request from plaintiffs including Rep. Mike Kelly to void Pennsylvania’s election results.

1. 153 UN states call on Israel to 'renounce possession of nuclear weapons’ - Jerusalem Post
The United Nations General Assembly called on Israel to “renounce possession of nuclear weapons” in a 153-6 vote on Monday, with 25 abstentions.
Israel was asked “not to develop, produce, test or otherwise acquire nuclear weapons.”
The UNGA further called on the Jewish state “to renounce possession of nuclear weapons and to place all its un-safeguarded nuclear facilities under full-scope Agency safeguards as an important confidence-building measure among all States of the region and as a step towards enhancing peace and security.”
Israel is presumed to be one of the world’s nine nuclear powers, but it has never admitted to the possession of nuclear weapons.

2. Netanyahu calls for new way of selecting judges in Israel - JNS
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Monday for reforming the way that judges are selected with Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin of the Likud Party proposing a new way to do so.
“It is necessary that most of the public understands that we need fundamental reforms of this system. It cannot continue [as is],” said Netanyahu at a Likud meeting.
“Today, we don’t have the necessary majority, but I think it will soon change,” he added.
The Judicial Appointments Committee selected 61 new judges on Sunday, despite a boycott by three coalition Knesset members.

3. Political turmoil forces major parties to rethink march to early election - Israel Hayom
Likud MK Gideon Sa'ar's launch of a new premiership bid aimed at toppling Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu through a newly formed party has prompted Likud and Blue and White to intensify talks aimed at avoiding an early arch to the polls.
Israel Hayom has learned that the two parties – which have been locking horns in recent weeks over the terms of a unity deal that is designed to ensure a rotating premiership – have stepped up their efforts to find a compromise that would break the budgetary impasse that has loomed large of Israel's political world.
Under the power-sharing deal between the two parties, Blue and White Chairman Benny Gantz is to replace Netanyahu in November 2021, but a loophole in the agreement would prevent this from being implemented if no budget is passed. Under Israeli law, without a state budget for 2020, the Knesset automatically dissolves and early elections are triggered. Gantz has recently said that if it appears the no budget is reached by the Dec. 23 deadline, he would seek to disperse the Knesset on his own terms in order to have the election held as soon as possible. As a result of this crisis, he has backed a motion to end the Knesset's term, which has moved forward in recent days.

4. Election bill to be voted on next week, sets March 16 date - World Israel News
The Knesset committee approved Wednesday the bill to dissolve the Knesset and set March 16 as the date for Israel’s fourth elections in the past two years.
“We will hold short, cost-effective and transparent elections,” said committee chairman Eitan Ginzburg of the Blue and White party. “We intend to bring the bill to the Knesset for first reading this coming Monday.”
The bill will have to pass three readings in the Knesset before it becomes law, with the final reading as early as next Wednesday.
The central issue behind the call for elections is the refusal by Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to approve the 2021 national budget, which drove his coalition partner Blue and White leader and Defense Minister Benny Gantz to support a vote in the Knesset last week for new elections.

Shops and businesses would also be closed during these hours.
The Prime Minister, together with the National Security Council, sought to promote a permanent night closure during the days of Hanukkah, which was supposed to last about three weeks.

1.Missouri, 16 other states file brief supporting Texas suit to delay presidential elector appointment - Fox News
Missouri led a group of 17 states that Wednesday afternoon filed a brief with the Supreme Court supporting the Texas lawsuit aimed at delaying the appointment of presidential electors from Georgia, Pennsylvania, Michigan and Wisconsin.
The brief mirrors the argument of the Texas suit in saying that the states acted unconstitutionally when either their judiciaries or executive branches changed their elections laws. The Texas suit, and the states that support it, say that only state legislatures may set laws regarding how states appoint their presidential electors.
"The integrity of our elections is of critical importance to maintaining our republic, both today and in future elections,” Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt said in a statement. “The stakes of protecting our Constitution, defending our liberty and ensuring that all votes are counted fairly couldn’t be higher. With this brief, we are joining the fight."

2. Seven States Will Join Texas in SCOTUS Lawsuit Against Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania - The Gateway pundit
Col. Allen West joined Steve Bannon Tuesday evening on The War Room. Allen West, the Republican Party Texas state leader, went on to discuss today’s Texas lawsuit against Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania at the Supreme Court.
West told Steve Bannon that Louisiana joined the lawsuit on Tuesday afternoon.
Louisiana AG Jeff Landry announced earlier this afternoon that Louisiana is joining in on the Texas lawsuit filed yesterday against the states of Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania over irregularities and lawlessness in the conduct of the 2020 election.
Allen West told Steve Bannon, “I think you’re going to see ten states sign on to this petition and lawsuit. I know as you said Louisiana just came on board.”

3. Troubling Foreign Ties Behind Voting Machines Used in US - Epoch Times
Behind a significant portion of voting machines used in the United States lies a complex web of questionable foreign ties, a hidden ownership structure, and transparency concerns with the software itself, as well as a connection between three key voting systems companies: Smartmatic, Sequoia Voting Systems, and Dominion Voting Systems.
Information from lawsuits, public records, and witness interviews helps to untangle this web.
The Epoch Times spoke with an intelligence source knowledgeable on Venezuela and its criminal activities, a former CIA official who is an expert in Latin American politics and counterterrorism, and a former director of Venezuela’s National Electoral Council who was fired for exposing election fraud in the country. Two of the sources requested anonymity so they could speak freely on the matter.
At the center of all of this is Dominion’s voting technology, which is currently used in 28 U.S. states and Puerto Rico, according to the firm’s official website. More than 40 percent of American voters cast their ballots through the Dominion system in general elections, including 65 of Michigan’s 83 counties, all 159 counties in Georgia, and 2.2 million voters in Maricopa, Arizona’s largest county, among others.

4. Supreme Court rejects Republicans push to overturn Biden win in Pennsylvania - CNBC
The Supreme Court on Tuesday turned back an effort by Republicans to reverse President-elect Joe Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania. The top court rejected a petition from Trump ally U.S. Rep. Mike Kelly, a Pennsylvania Republican, who argued that virtually all of the state’s mail-in ballots were unlawful.
The move closes off one of President Donald Trump’s last remaining paths to overturning the results of the 2020 election in court, even as some far-fetched legal cases remain in the works.
The decision was announced in an order with no noted dissents, as is typical for cases that are handled on an emergency basis. The entirety of the court’s order read, “The application for injunctive relief presented to Justice [Samuel] Alito and by him referred to the Court is denied.”

5. Cybersecurity Firm Fire Eye Says Was Hacked by nation State - Newsmax
Prominent U.S. cybersecurity firm FireEye said Tuesday that foreign government hackers with “world-class capabilities” broke into its network and stole offensive tools it uses to probe the defenses of its thousands of customers, who include federal, state and local governments and major global corporations.
The hackers “primarily sought information related to certain government customers,” FireEye CEO Kevin Mandia said in a statement, without naming them. He said there was no indication the hackers got customer information from the company's consulting or incident-response businesses or threat intelligence data it collects.
“I’ve concluded we are witnessing an attack by a nation with top-tier offensive capabilities," Mandia said, deeming it "different from the tens of thousands of incidents we have responded to throughout the years."
Neither he nor a FireEye spokeswoman said who might be responsible or when the company detected the hack.

6. FDA confirms Pfizer vaccine safe, effective, report expected to lead to approval in coming days - Just The News
The Food and Drug Administration concluded Tuesday that the coronavirus vaccine candidate from Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech "met the prescribed success criteria." The FDA report is expected to result in the agency granting emergency use approval for the vaccine in the coming days, and the companies could begin distributing the two-shot vaccination as soon as this weekend. The analyses released by the FDA purportedly shows the vaccine's ability to reduce the risk of an individual contracting the novel coronavirus "at least seven days after Dose 2," and its capacity to reduce the severity of the virus "any time after dose 1."
The agency said the most common side effects that came with taking the vaccine included fatigue, headache, muscle pain, chills, join pain, fever, and injection site reaction. Significant side effects were uncommon and especially uncommon in adults older than 55.

7. Number of North Koreans exposed to Bible increasing annually despite persecution: report - Christian Post
The percentage of North Korean citizens who are exposed to the Bible is steadily increasing every year despite extreme persecution, according to a new report that investigates and analyzes the conditions of religious freedom in the Hermit Kingdom.
The annual White Paper on Religious Freedom in North Korea from The Database Center for North Korean Human Rights found that the number of North Koreans who responded that “they have an experience of seeing the Bible” increased by 4% each year since 2000.
Before 2000, only 16 people claimed to have seen a Bible. After 2000, up to 559 North Korean defectors said they had “seen a Bible,” even though religious literature is banned in the isolated country.
Despite limited data, NKDB began its survey on religious persecution in 2007. For this year’s survey, the group collected information from 1,234 people and 1,411 cases of religious persecution.

8. Trump administration shuts down Chinese cultural exchange programs, calls them 'soft power propaganda tools' - Fox News
The Trump administration on Friday announced that it has ended five cultural exchange programs with China that it claims are “propaganda tools.”
The State Department said the nixed programs are the Policymakers Educational China Trip Program, the U.S.-China Friendship Program, the U.S.-China Leadership Exchange Program, the U.S.-China Transpacific Exchange Program and the Hong Kong Educational and Cultural Program.
“While other programs funded under the auspices of the [Mutual Educational and Cultural Exchange Act] are mutually beneficial, the five programs in question are fully funded and operated by the PRC government as soft power propaganda tools,” the statement said. “They provide carefully curated access to Chinese Communist Party officials, not to the Chinese people, who do not enjoy freedoms of speech and assembly.”
Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said the U.S. welcomes cultural programs that are “reciprocal and fair,” but “one-way programs such as these are not mutually beneficial.”

9. House passes defense bill with veto-proof majority despite Trump’s objections - ABC News
The House passed a sprawling defense spending bill Tuesday in an overwhelmingly bipartisan vote despite numerous veto threats from President Donald Trump.
The final tally was 335-78-1. The bill received well over the two-thirds majority needed to override a potential Trump veto. The bill now heads to the Senate.
Trump warned Republicans on Tuesday to vote against the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) over his issues with an amendment that would strip Confederate names from military bases and because it lacks a repeal of Section 230, which deals with social media liability protections that he claims hurts Republicans.

10. Judge dismisses Michael Flynn case following Trump pardon - Washington
The federal judge agreed to dismiss as moot the case against retired Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn on Tuesday, roughly two weeks after President Trump pardoned the former national security adviser.
Judge Emmet Sullivan, who has handled the case against Flynn since December 2017, issued a 43-page opinion along with his order to dismiss the case, seemingly putting an end to a legal drama that began during the 2016 election amid the FBI's Crossfire Hurricane investigation and continued into special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation and beyond. The judge had been resisting quickly granting the Justice Department’s initial motion to dismiss the case since May.

The Texas Election Challenge
The State of Texas has filed a lawsuit directly with the Supreme Court alleging that Wisconsin, Michigan, Georgia and Pennsylvania violated the Election Clause of the US Constitution and disenfranchised Texas voters by unconstitutionally abrogating election statues for mail-in ballots. Texas cites Article II, Section I, Clause II of the Constitution that states: “Each state shall appoint, in such manner as the Legislature thereof may direct,” making “it clear that only legislators of the states are permitted to determine the rules for appointing presidential electors.” And Texas also cites Article III that the Supreme Court’s judicial power extends to “controversies between two or more states.” Joining in support are AK, AL, MO and LA.
In layman’s terms, the Texas lawsuit intends to establish that Texas citizens were denied equal protection under the law because Secretary of States in Michigan, Pennsylvania and Georgia, and the Elections Commission in Wisconsin unilaterally changed election laws without legislative approval. This causes Texas voters (and all of America) to have to accept the results of the election when the elections in those four states are illegal. As a remedy, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is requesting SCOTUS to prohibit Electoral College votes cast by those states and for them to appoint new electors. SCOTUS has given the states until Thursday at 3:00 PM EST to actively respond, meaning it is taking up the case.
Jordan Sekulow, lawyer for President Trump, Tuesday told Newsmax TV, “This is the case we’ve been talking about to reach SCOTUS. This is the outcome-determinative case, 62 electoral college votes, enough to change the outcome of the election.” Newsmax reported; “The Supreme Court, in a case of “original jurisdiction,” Sekulow said, will weigh the lawsuit’s proposed remedy of the four state legislatures seating new electors, because the “electors clause” was violated, along with “due process” and “equal protection.”” Notably, a search of the news about this case at the time of this writing yielded only Breitbart, Epoch Times, and Newsmax were covering the story. Mainstream media is still reporting that SCOTUS turned down a challenge to the Pennsylvania election. Each of the states in question have publicly dismissed the suit as nonsense.
Paxton said in a statement, “For presidential elections, each state must appoint its electors to the electoral college in a manner that complies with the Constitution. The Electors Clause requirement that only state legislatures may set the rules governing the appointment of electors and elections and cannot be delegated to local officials. The majority of the rushed decisions, made by local officials, were not approved by the state legislatures, thereby circumventing the Constitution.” Proverbs 21:15 says, “It is a joy for the just to do justice, But destruction will come to the workers of iniquity.” Let us pray that SCOTUS puts the law above politics and acts justly to do justice.

Who, O Lord, Shall Dwell with thee?

Lyrics
Who, O Lord, shall dwell with Thee
In the temple of Thy grace?
Who Thy constant guest shall be
In Thy high and holy place?
He who walks in righteousness,
All his actions just and clear;
He whose words the truth express,
Spoken from a heart sincere.
He to whom does not belong
Tongue of malice or deceit;
Who will not his neighbor wrong,
Nor a slanderous tale repeat.
Who the wicked man will spurn,
Honor those that fear the Lord;
Nor will from his promise turn
Though but loss be his reward.
Who no usury will claim,
Nor with bribes pollute his hand;
He who thus his life shall frame
Shall unmoved forever stand.
