Black Lives Matter Movement Nominated for Nobel Peace Prize

The Black Lives Matter movement, which fueled several violent protests across America last year, has been nominated for the 2021 Nobel peace prize. The nomination was made by Petter Eide, a member of Norway’s parliament who considered the effort to be “a very important worldwide movement to fight racial injustice,” and brushed off questions regarding violent protests in the movement’s name.

“Studies have shown that most of the demonstrations organized by Black Lives Matter have been peaceful,” Eide said. “Of course there have been incidents, but most of them have been caused by the activities of either the police or counter-protestors.”

A study by the Armed Conflict Location and Event Data Project, which looked at 7,750 Black Lives Matter demonstrations from four months of last year, found that 93 percent of the protests were mostly peaceful, yet photographs and videos captured by journalists across America depict a different image.

While there have been numerous violent incidents involving the movement’s name, several innocent civilians and members of Congress have suffered from the cruelties of activists from within the movement. (Breitbart)

- Lord, those who advocated violence to get their way will likely obtain this prize. We ask for a complete turnaround for our society, that they would no longer call evil good and good evil.

- “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!” (Isaiah 5:20)

1. Iranian attack on Israeli embassy in Africa foiled - Israel National News

An Iranian attack against an Israeli embassy in eastern Africa was foiled last month, Kan 11 reported Monday evening.

Western intelligence sources familiar with the details of the case say that Iran sent agents to the same country in Africa, whose job it was to gather intelligence on the Israeli embassy, the United States embassy, and the United Arab Emirates - to investigate the possibility of an attack on one of them. Some of those agents were European citizens who also held Iranian citizenship at the same time.

As part of thwarting this operation, some of the agents were arrested - some in the same African country, and some in other countries. According to intelligence sources, this action by Iran was taken as part of an attempt to respond and avenge the assassination of Qassem Soleimani and nuclear scientist Mohsaen Fahrizadeh. (Read more)

2.  Muslim-majority Kosovo Forges Ties With Israel; Will Open Embassy In Jerusalem - Times of Israel

Israel and Kosovo formally established diplomatic ties on Monday, with the Muslim-majority territory also recognizing Jerusalem as the Jewish state’s capital — putting it at odds with the rest of the Islamic world.

In a ceremony held over Zoom in Jerusalem and Pristina, Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and his counterpart from the Republic of Kosovo, Meliza Haradinaj Stublla, signed a joint declaration establishing ties.

Travel restrictions to curb the spread of COVID-19, including the closure of Ben Gurion Airport, made an in-person ceremony impossible. It was the first time Israel established relations with a country virtually. (Read more).

3. Lockdown extended until Friday morning - Israel National News

The government on Sunday night reached a last-minute compromise, according to which the coronavirus lockdown, which was set to expire at midnight, will be extended until Friday morning at 7:00 a.m.

Another meeting will be held on Wednesday in which it will be decided whether to continue the lockdown beyond Friday.

In addition, the government approved the extension of the closure of entry into and exit from Israel, with the exception of unusual cases, in accordance with the existing regulations for an additional seven days until Sunday, February 7, 21 at midnight. (Read more)

4. Israel tests new Iron Dome for ships to defend ‘economic waters’ - World Israel News

The Israel Defense Forces announced it has carried out a series of tests of an upgraded Iron Dome system for use on ships. A video released by the IDF shows the system successfully knocking missile threats out of the sky.

The sea version of the Iron Dome will be operated on the Israeli Navy’s new missile ships, the Saar 6-class corvettes. Israel received the first of six such ships on December 11, 2020. Although integrated onto the Navy’s ships, the missiles will be operated by the Israeli Air Force.

Israel’s Ministry of Defense said the missiles will be “a key part of the ability to protect the economic waters of the State of Israel.”

Defending those “economic waters” became more important on Dec. 31, 2019, when Israel’s offshore leviathan field first began pumping natural gas in what the group operating it called “a historic turning point in the history of the Israeli economy.” (Read more)

5. Israel Transfers COVID-19 Vaccines to PA, Despite Photos, PA Denies It - Jewish Press

Israel transferred 2,000 vaccine doses to the Palestinian Authority (PA) on Monday, the first batch of a total of 5,000 doses. The Israeli government approved the transfer on Friday, in accordance with the recommendations of the Minister of Defense and the IDF’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories (COGAT).

The Moderna-developed vaccines were delivered on Monday at the Beituniya crossing.

The vaccinations are intended for the PA’s medical staff and health workers. Some of them may be passed on to the Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

Israel transferred 100 vaccines to the PA last month. (Read more)

6. A Historic Day - Israel and Kosovo Establish Diplomatic Relations
- Jerusalem Prayer Breakfast
> > > Kosovo says it will formally establish diplomatic ties with Israel on Feb. 1 - Times of Israel

PRISTINA, Kosovo — Kosovo’s Foreign Minister on Friday said a formal ceremony will be held next week to establish diplomatic ties with Israel, a “historic moment” in the Balkan country’s history.

Meliza Haradinaj-Stublla said she and her Israeli counterpart Gabi Ashkenazi would hold a virtual ceremony on Feb. 1.

“Recognition by Israel is one of the greatest achievements for Kosovo, coming at a key moment for us, thanks to the United States of America, our common and eternal ally,” she said.

The decision on mutual recognition between Muslim-majority Kosovo and Israel was achieved last September at a summit of Kosovo-Serbia leaders at the White House in the presence of then-President Donald Trump.

At the meeting Belgrade also agreed to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, something it hasn’t done so far. (Read more)

1. ‘It’s A Mess’: Team Biden Loses Track Of 20 Million COVID-19 Doses: Report – Daily Wire

For much of the last week, the White House wouldn’t answer questions about the stockpile of COVID-19 vaccine doses. Maybe this is why. It turns out that members of President Joe Biden’s administration have yet to locate 20 million vaccine doses that were distributed to the states last month, according to a new report.

A Politico report on Saturday said “Biden’s team is still trying to locate upwards of 20 million vaccine doses that have been sent to states — a mystery that has hampered plans to speed up the national vaccination effort.
"It’s the Mike Tyson quote: ‘Everybody’s got a plan until they get punched in the mouth,’ said one person with knowledge of the vaccine effort who’s not authorized to discuss the work. ‘They are planning. They are competent. It’s just the weight of everything when you sit down in that chair. It’s heavy,'” the political website reported.

Millions of doses of two vaccines have been distributed, but Politico said once the vaccine shipments are delivered to the states, “responsibility for tracking them has been left up to states’ individual public health systems. The administration then only gets an update once the doses are actually administered and an official record is submitted.” (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that You will find the missing vaccines quickly, and that whoever is in charge of them will have wisdom in the future.

- “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you,” (Matthew 7:7)

2. COVID Lockdowns May Have No Clear Benefit vs Other Voluntary Measures, International Study Shows-
Newsweek

A study evaluating COVID-19 responses around the world found that mandatory lockdown orders early in the pandemic may not provide significantly more benefits to slowing the spread of the disease than other voluntary measures, such as social distancing or travel reduction
.
The peer reviewed study was published in the European Journal of Clinical Investigation on January 5, and analyzed coronavirus case growth in 10 countries in early 2020.

The study compared cases in England, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, Netherlands, Spain and the U.S. – all countries that implemented mandatory lockdown orders and business closures – to South Korea and Sweden, which instituted less severe, voluntary responses. It aimed to analyze the effect that less restrictive or more restrictive measures had on changing individual behavior and curbing the transmission of the virus.

The researchers used a mathematical model to compare countries that did and did not enact more restrictive lockdown orders, and determined that there was "no clear, significant beneficial effect of [more restrictive measures] on case growth in any country." (Read more)

- Lord,  we pray that the lockdowns will stop and Your power be manifest to stop the virus and all its variants.

3. Capitol Police Chief: U.S. Capitol Needs ‘Permanent’ Wall to Protect Congress - Breitbart

The United States Capitol needs a “permanent” security wall around it to protect members of Congress, Acting U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) Chief Yogananda Pittman says.
In a statement on Thursday, Pittman said the security at the Capitol building must include a “permanent fencing” barrier — a similar barrier to the one halted by President Joe Biden’s administration at the U.S.-Mexico border.

“As I noted earlier this week, even before September 11, 2001, security experts argued that more needed to be done to protect the U.S. Capitol,” Pittman said in a statement. “In fact, a 2006 security assessment specifically recommended the installation of a permanent perimeter fence around the Capitol.”

“In light of recent events, I can unequivocally say that vast improvements to the physical security infrastructure must be made to include permanent fencing, and the availability of ready, back-up forces in close proximity to the Capitol,” Pittman continued.

Fencing with barbed wire at the top has been surrounding the Capitol for weeks now, as Breitbart News noted, to protect Biden during his January 20 inaugural ceremonies. Other barriers have gone up around Washington, DC, to keep the public out of particular areas. (Read more)

4. DOJ Investigating SpaceX’s Hiring Practices After Non-U.S. Citizen Alleges Discrimination- Daily Wire

The federal government has launched a probe into SpaceX after a man who is not a lawful permanent resident of the United States complained when he was passed over for a job with the California rocket maker.

CNBC reports, “The U.S. Department of Justice is investigating SpaceX over whether the company discriminates against non-U.S. citizens in its hiring practices and said Elon Musk’s company is stonewalling a subpoena for information, court documents revealed Thursday.”

According to CNBC, “The DOJ’s Immigrant and Employee Rights Section received a complaint of employment discrimination from a non-U.S. citizen claiming that the company discriminated against him based on his citizenship status.”

SpaceX has been awarded several contracts by the federal government, mostly from NASA and the Department of Defense, including national security missions. (Read more)

5. Poll shows Americans believe Biden is further dividing nation – WND

Joe Biden repeatedly during his campaign and after his election promise to "unify" the nation and work as hard for those who voted against him as those who voted for him.

But that's "more fig leaf than honest invitation," contends New York Post columnist Michael Goodwin.

"We should ignore the unity talk because everything he had done leans far left," the columnist wrote.

"Knitting together a fractured America around a far-left agenda was never going to work. And Biden knows it."

It appears voters know it, too, with a Rasmussen poll showing 80% of Republican voters don't believe Biden can unite Americans. Among "other" voters, that number is 62%. In contrast, 75% of Democrats believe Biden can unify the nation. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for move of Your Spirit, for that is the only unity that can heal America. Let repentance flow across the nation, and hearts be changed to follow You.

- “The people dwelling in darkness have seen a great light, and for those dwelling in the region and shadow of death, on them a light has dawned.” (Matthew 4:16)

6. Bruce Castor: What to know about Trump impeachment defense attorney- Fox

Former President Donald Trump on Sunday announced his new legal team for his upcoming Senate impeachment trial, featuring attorney Bruce Castor.

Castor joined Trump's team after South Carolina attorneys Butch Bowers and Deborah Barbier cut ties with Trump over the weekend.

"I consider it a privilege to represent the 45th President," Castor said in a statement. "The strength of our Constitution is about to be tested like never before in our history. It is strong and resilient. A document written for the ages, and it will triumph over partisanship yet again, and always." (Read more)

- Father we ask that You grant Mr. Castor, Mr. Schoen, and Donald Trump peace and that the direction they take will be Yours and Yours alone. We also ask that You release Your Holy Spirit upon all Senate members regardless of party affiliation.

7. Lincoln Project Denounces Co-Founder As Predator, Liar, And Abuser - Daily Caller

The Lincoln Project has issued a statement denouncing co-founder John Weaver as a “predator, a liar, and an abuser.” . . . “John Weaver led a secret life that was built on a foundation of deception at every level,” the Lincoln Project said in a Sunday statement. “He is a predator, a liar, and an abuser. We extend our deepest sympathies to those who were targeted by his deplorable and predatory behavior.”

Weaver apologized in early January for sending “inappropriate” messages to multiple men, according to Axios. He also announced that he is gay and said that he would not be returning to the Lincoln Project.

“While I am taking full responsibility for the inappropriate messages and conversations, I want to state clearly that the other smears being leveled at me … are categorically false and outrageous,” Weaver said.

Conservative writer Ryan Girdusky, a Lincoln Project critic, had alleged Jan. 9 that multiple young men had sent him screenshots of predatory messages from Weaver. He followed up this announcement with a story in The American Conservative describing Weaver’s alleged “predatory actions” and alleged grooming of young men.

Several weeks later, the New York Times reported Sunday that Weaver sent sexually provocative and unsolicited messages to young men for years. The publication talked to 21 young men who said that the messages suggested that Weaver could help them get jobs in politics. (Read more)

- Lord, these egregious sins among our people are rampant through so many. We once again ask for a move of Your Spirit to bring repentance, that everyone would cry out to You for mercy and forgiveness.

“I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will keep My judgments and do them.” (Ezekiel 36:27)

8. Does DC Statehood Require A Constitutional Amendment, Or Can Congress Pass It Via Legislation? It’s Complicated – Daily Caller

With Democrats in control of Congress and the White House, advocates for D.C. statehood again see an opportunity to make it happen.

Delaware Democratic Sen. Tom Carper reintroduced a statehood bill on Wednesday and was joined by 38 of his colleagues, continuing House-led statehood efforts that began after Democrats retook the chamber in 2018. But despite the coming legislative push, the measure still faces considerable opposition from Republicans on political and constitutional grounds

Most Democrats have come out in favor of making D.C. a state, arguing that its over 700,000 tax-paying residents deserve to have representation in Congress. But statehood is a non-starter for Republicans, who have argued that doing so would practically guarantee two Democratic senators, a Democratic representative and, separately, that it would violate the constitution.

Political battles aside, D.C. statehood is a complicated constitutional issue. Throughout U.S. history, states were admitted to the union according to the Admissions Clause under Article IV of the Constitution. But the clause is not applicable since D.C. is not a U.S. territory, making the issue of D.C. statehood more complex. (Read more)

- Lord, as Congress takes up this divisive idea, we pray that it cannot pass or be signed into law. This is a partisan issue that would create havoc in all further elections.

- “When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears and delivers them out of all their troubles.” (Psalm 34:17)

9. Edmonton woman forced into isolation because of wrong COVID test - Western Standard

An incorrect COVID-19 test in Dallas led to an Edmonton woman being detained at the Calgary airport and being sent to a federal isolation facility. Pastor Chris Mathis wrote an emotional Facebook post Thursday night detailing what his wife, Nikki, had gone through when her flight from Dallas had arrived.

Federal law states anyone returning to Canada must have had a negative COVID-19 test before they board their aircraft. Nikki said she went for a test in Dallas but the doctor administered the wrong one. Despite that she was able to board her flight – it was only discovered the test was invalid when she landed.

Nikki, who was returning from a business trip to Dallas, had planned on driving to Edmonton where she would complete her 14-day quarantine. She told Global she got a COVID-19 test at a U.S. health clinic, where the doctor offered her two test options. “I said, ‘I need to have a test that shows I’m negative for COVID and can get on an airplane,” she told Global.

When she landed it was determined by Public Health Agency of Canada and Canada Border Services Agency officials she had received an antigen test, not the required molecular COVID-19 test, said Global. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for this Christian family, that You will release this lady quickly. To be forced into isolation at a government facility simply because of a “wrong” Covid test is against all common sense and decency. We ask for a move of Your Spirit through Canada, and especially upon PM Justin Trudeau and their Parliament.

- “Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while I pass by safely.” (Psalm 141:10)

10. Religious Books Seized and Burned in Communist China, Believers Given Jail Terms – The Epoch Times

Years ago, the horrors of the holocaust paved the way for the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; however, our basic right to freedom of religion or belief is still being trampled in societies ruled by totalitarian regimes.

In communist China, practicing a certain faith, printing, or even reading religious books could result in prison terms and abuse. Spiritual believers in China—be it Christians, Buddhists, Uyghur Muslims, or Falun Gong practitioners—are faced not only with brutal suppression or forced-labor terms but also have their religious books burned or trashed at the hands of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP)

The coercive policies are aimed at forcing these religious followers to renounce their faith and follow the communist ideologies based on atheism and Marxism. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray for our brethren in China, both in the regular church and the underground church. We ask for great faith to be released upon them, and strength for the battles ahead. We also pray the same things for America’s church as things become more difficult in the days ahead.

- “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.” (Matthew 5:10)

The world gone mad–at least the US

February 1, 2021

Some of the headlines in just the past few days indicate that the world has gone mad since Joe Biden* took office. So many executive orders, so many policy changes, so many calls for unity followed by demands against conservatives and Christians. It is almost like a hurricane of crazy. Those addicted to the next one-up on conspiracy theory fantasy can give up their delusions because the facts of what is going on right now politically are at least as outrageous as QAnon hope pornography. People, there is a crisis before our very eyes. One that is not made up and needs a tremendous amount of prayer and standing in the gap. Just think about what has happened in the past few days.

Biden told the people of Pennsylvania and Michigan that he would end the fossil fuel industry. He underscored it in his debates and subsequently reiterated it in speeches in Pennsylvania. Yet the people of those two states, which will be hurt immensely by Biden’s pipeline and drilling ban, allowed their electoral votes to be certified. Trouble is, the rest of the nation, particularly Texas, will lose thousands of jobs. Jobs that the leftists say young people don’t need to have in the first place—that they will someday take clean green jobs instead. “Someday” is interpreted as in the distant future. These workers will either be absorbed by other jobs or will become wards of the state—which is probably the long-term strategy.

There are mounting calls by Democratic Party leadership and leftist media influencers to declare the Republican Party as a domestic terrorist organization. Democratic Party-supporting MeidasTouch PAC co-founder Ben Meiselas on the PAC’s podcast Friday branded Republican Party members as “traitors” unworthy of being called conservatives while describing the GOP as “no different” from the ISIS terror group. The video was introduced with a twitter message referring to the Republican Party as the “GOP terrorist party.” Breitbart reports that the video has gained nearly half a million views on Twitter alone, with the hashtag “#GOPDomesticTerrorists” trending on the app as a result.

Secretary of State Antony Blinken has ordered that the LGBTQ alphabet of sexual genders flag be flown at US embassies around the world. Biden’s executive order requires that transgendered people would not be denied access to school sports, meaning biological men can compete in women’s sports. Four years were spent trying to clean up government and in one week look what has happened. Christ says in Luke 11:25-26 of the house where the unclean spirit that was cast out, “And when he comes, he finds it swept and garnished. Then he goes and takes to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there.” Now Biden is building a wall around the nation’s capitol. Is it to keep the crazies out or to protect the crazies inside?

Top snowfall totals could reach 44 inches from monster storm

A monster nor'easter was crawling up the Eastern Seaboard of the United States on Monday, pounding the region with heavy snow and high winds, snarling travel, canceling flights and disrupting coronavirus vaccination efforts in numerous cities. AccuWeather forecasters had been monitoring for a major storm to develop since early last week, and had advised people across the eastern U.S. to "buckle up" for a long-duration event. An AccuWeather Local StormMax™ of up to 44 inches of snow is possible, along with a slew of different hazards.

Winter storm warnings and winter weather advisories were in effect across the Northeast as snow and ice began breaking out across the region Sunday, beginning farther south and gradually marching across the Northeast.

A band of heavy snow that set up over New York City unloaded 8 inches of snow in just 6 hours in Central Park, making Monday the snowiest day in the Big Apple since 2016 -- and plenty of more snow was on the way.

By daybreak Monday, a few inches to a foot of snow had fallen across a broad swath stretching from the southern Appalachians to eastern Pennsylvania and central New Jersey. Higher amounts were observed in the mountains of North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland.

On Sunday night, New Jersey and New York City issued state of emergencies and New York City put travel restrictions in place to keep nonessential personnel off the roads. (Read more and view many more details by going here.)

New ‘Students for Life’ Poll Finds Younger Generation Could be Most Pro-Life Ever

The younger generation may become one of the most pro-life ever according to the organization Students for Life of America.

A new poll by the group found that Millennials and Gen-Z’s or Zoomers aren’t as pro-abortion as often painted by the media and abortion supporters.

During an appearance on the Thursday edition of CBN’s Newswatch program, Students for Life of America President Kristan Hawkins said the majority of those polled said abortion should not be permitted when a child’s heartbeat has been detected about three weeks after conception.

Classic Hymns

The Old Rugged Cross

The cross of our Lord Jesus Christ. (Galatians 6:14)

To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE

Words: George Bennard
Music:  George Bennard

On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
The emblem of suffering and shame;
And I love that old cross where the dearest and best
For a world of lost sinners was slain.

Refrain
So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
Till my trophies at last I lay down;
I will cling to the old rugged cross,
And exchange it some day for a crown.

O that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
Has a wondrous attraction for me;
For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above
To bear it to dark Calvary.

Refrain

In that old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
A wondrous beauty I see,
For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
To pardon and sanctify me.

Refrain

To the old rugged cross I will ever be true;
Its shame and reproach gladly bear;
Then He’ll call me some day to my home far away,
Where His glory forever I’ll share.

Refrain
