1. Waving signs and wearing nooses, business owners protest lockdown - YNET
Dozens of street shop and business owners from the clothing industry demonstrated in Tel Aviv on Tuesday in protest of the financial ramifications of Israel's coronavirus lockdown.
Demonstrators gathered in south Tel Aviv ahead of a Cabinet meeting that was expected to convene in the afternoon, with some protesters tying nooses around their necks and others lifting signs blasting the political class and its bungled handling of the pandemic.
"We've reached the end of our businesses, we're running out of air. We can’t breathe anymore," one protester who runs a clothing store told Ynet.
"High street shops are the safest, why are they closing us?"
"This government is backward and its decisions are bizarre and ridden with political interests. We, the middle class, are collapsing; we haven't been working for 10 months and we haven't worked between lockdowns," a protester said.

2. New ‘the Israelis’ party picks IDF general who organized Gaza pullout, eviction of 8,000 Jews - World Israel News
Former deputy chief of staff Gen. (res.) Dan Harel announced Tuesday that he is joining the leadership of The Israelis, the new center-Left party of Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai.
“I decided that I can’t stand aside in the face of what is happening in the Israel that I love,” he said. “I found a home where I can serve the State of Israel in accordance with my values…. The current situation cannot be allowed to continue.”
Harel will be most remembered with disdain by the right-wing in Israel for leading the IDF’s mission to expel some 8,000 Jews from the Gaza Strip in 2005, when he served as the head of the Southern Command. Beholden to the country’s political leadership, he carried out his orders, but said repeatedly afterwards that removing the army and Jewish citizens in a one-sided withdrawal had been a mistake.
Five years later, he told a Channel 2 interviewer that he had warned his superiors that leaving the Strip would only bring about more terrorism.

3. Gantz wants Israel to buy 3rd squadron of F-35 stealth fighters - Israel Hayom
Defense Minister Benny Gantz said on Monday that he wants the country to buy a third squadron of stealth F-35 warplanes from the United States, and that he hoped a deal could be clinched before US President Donald Trump steps down on Jan. 20.
Israel has been in talks with Washington on how to preserve its military advantage after the Trump administration approved a possible F-35 sale to the United Arab Emirates last year. The plane was previously available only to Israel in the region.
"Without doubt, we need to expand the F-35 array. Right now we have two squadrons. I reckon we will expand that. That is what I requested of the Americans," Gantz told Ynet TV.
"I would buy another F-35 squadron and then examine what to do with the balance – continuing to expand the F-35 [procurement], going for F-15s?"

4. Netanyahu's request to postpone next week's hearing denied - Jerusalem Post
The Jerusalem District Court on Wednesday night rejected Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s request for postponing his January 13 hearing.
The court said that although the prosecution had amended the indictment, because Netanyahu’s lawyers had a full year to study the original indictment and with the changes not being hugely substantive, there was no reason not to proceed.
At the same time, the court took Attorney-General Avichai Mandelblit to task for failing to turn over original protocols and internal documents in which he approved the investigation into Netanyahu in 2016.
The court ordered him to immediately produce these documents for the defense, while permitting him to censor irrelevant material in those documents.

5. As terror groups increase drone usage, Israeli firm counters with pioneering jamming technology - JNS
When Ido Bar Oz, the chief marking officer of the MCTECH RF Technologies Israeli anti-drone company, recently visited a prison in a European country, he saw a remarkable sight, but not one that surprised him.
A drone flew through the air, delivering smuggled goods over the prison’s barriers to the inmates.
“These are daily incidents, extremely common in countries like Germany, Holland and the United Kingdom,” he said. “It happens in Israel, too.”
During his visit, he noted that “the drones were delivering smuggled goods like Amazon, drugs, weapons and cell phones. The authorities in the prison could only try to catch the goods. They don’t have the jurisdiction to arrest people outside of the prison, so they call the police and wait.”

1. Georgia runoff elections: Dems gain Senate advantage as Ossoff defeats Perdue, Fox News projects - Fox News
Democrat Jon Ossoff defeated Republican former Sen. David Perdue in a bitterly contentious Senate race in Georgia, a win that along with Rev. Raphael Warnock's defeat of GOP Sen. Kelly Loeffler secures the Democrats' control in the upper chamber of Congress, Fox News projected Wednesday.
Ossoff, a 33-year-old media executive, won a runoff election against Perdue, the one-term senator and former Fortune 500 CEO, who at 71 is more than twice Ossoff's age. The November Election Day result failed to give either candidate a majority, forcing Tuesday's rematch.
Ossoff claimed victory Wednesday morning, before the Fox News Decision Desk projected him to be the winner. Warnock was declared the winner over Loeffler early Wednesday morning by Fox News, The Associated Press and other news outlets. Loeffler has not yet conceded.
"It is with humility that I thank the people of Georgia for electing me to serve in the Senate," Ossoff said in brief remarks delivered virtually.

2. WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange denied bail - Fox News
Judge Vanessa Baraitser made the announcement just two days after denying a request from the United States to send Assange across the Atlantic, arguing that he is likely to commit suicide if extradited to face espionage charges. The U.S. is appealing that decision.
"I am satisfied that there are substantial grounds for believing that if Mr. Assange is released today he would fail to surrender to court to face the appeal proceedings," Baraitser said Wednesday, according to Reuters.
One of Assange’s lawyers, Barry Pollack, called the judge’s latest decision "extremely disappointing" as "even though the request for Mr. Assange's extradition to the United States has been denied, he will continue to be held in a maximum-security prison in London, under lockdown during a pandemic."

3. Pennsylvania Senate requests delay of certifying electoral votes, citing 'questionable activities' - Washington Examiner
The Pennsylvania Senate requested a delay in certifying the state's electoral votes on Wednesday, suggesting there were inconsistencies in the election process, President Trump said Tuesday night.
In a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, lawmakers cited "unlawful violations" in the electoral process, accusing Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Wolf, Secretary of State Kathy Boockvar, and the "rogue" state Supreme Court from taking the balance of power away from the state Legislature.
Lawmakers said it's wise to wait until the U.S. Supreme Court case Donald J. Trump for President v. Boockvar can be heard, although a district court dismissed it in October.

4. Detroit asks federal judge to disbar Sidney Powell and entire ‘Kraken’ legal team - Washington Examiner
According to a court filing first shared by New York Times reporter Alan Feuer on Tuesday, Detroit's lawyers recommend Sidney Powell, Lin Wood, and the rest of Team Kraken for disbarment after the legal syndicate filed four lawsuits against the city that were eventually rejected. Detroit argues that this litigiousness is tantamount to malpractice, saying the attorneys need "to answer for that misconduct."
The legal petition comes as the Trump campaign is engaging in one final last-ditch effort in its bid to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential contest. After months of lawsuits in several swing states, Congress will vote on Wednesday on whether to certify the Electoral College's vote in favor of President-elect Joe Biden. Several members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate have indicated their intent to object to the certification vote. President Trump has even tweeted a suggestion that Vice President Mike Pence take drastic action.

5. TRUMP TWEETS: Supporters in D.C., Pence, Georgia election, Electoral votes and more - DML News
President Trump has made multiple statements on Twitter Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning.
“They just happened to find 50,000 ballots late last night. The USA is embarrassed by fools. Our Election Process is worse than that of third world countries!” Trump wrote in another tweet.
President Trump is encouraging Mike Pence to reject the electoral college votes.
“If Vice President @Mike_Pence comes through for us, we will win the Presidency. Many States want to decertify the mistake they made in certifying incorrect & even fraudulent numbers in a process NOT approved by their State Legislatures (which it must be). Mike can send it back!” he tweeted.
In another tweet, Trump added, “States want to correct their votes, which they now know were based on irregularities and fraud, plus corrupt process never received legislative approval. All Mike Pence has to do is send them back to the States, AND WE WIN. Do it Mike, this is a time for extreme courage!”
“The States want to redo their votes. They found out they voted on a FRAUD. Legislatures never approved. Let them do it. BE STRONG!” he added.
And lastly, “Even Mexico uses Voter I.D.,” Trump tweeted Wednesday morning.

6. Pelosi announces new 'Squad' assignments to House committees - Fox News
"Squad" members Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York and Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan will now be on the House Oversight and Reform Committee. The newly elected Rep. Cori Bush of Missouri will join them on that committee, and freshman Rep. Jamaal Bowman of New York will be on the House Science, Space and Technology Committee.
Additionally, the first two openly gay members of Congress, the newly-elected Reps. Ritchie Torres and Mondaire Jones, both of New York, received assignments as well. Torres was named to the House Homeland Security Committee and Jones to the House Education and Labor Committee.
The assignments reflect a leftward shift among Democrats in Congress. Bowman, Bush, Ocasio-Cortez, and Tlaib all received endorsements from the Democratic Socialists of America.

7. Judge Merrick Garland, once a Supreme Court nominee, tapped to be next attorney general - LA Times
Merrick Garland, a federal appeals court judge and a former Supreme Court nominee, is President-elect Joe Biden’s nominee to be the next attorney general, according to people familiar with the selection process.
Biden is expected to announce Garland’s appointment on Thursday, along with appointments for other senior posts in the Department of Justice, including former Homeland Security advisor Lisa Monaco as deputy attorney general and former Justice Department civil rights chief Vanita Gupta as associate attorney general.
Garland would face confirmation by a U.S. Senate that denied him even a hearing when President Obama nominated him to fill the seat of Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in February 2016.

8. Senate Majority Leader McConnell rejects claims of massive election fraud - Just The News
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) delivered a forceful statement on the Senate floor Wednesday in opposition to President Trump's claims that he lost the November presidential election due to voter fraud.
McConnell, who has been in the Senate for 36 years, told his colleagues that he does not believe a level of voter fraud during the election existed that was "anywhere neat the massive scale that would have tipped this entire election."
"I will vote to respect the people's decision and defend out system of government as we know it ... The voters, the courts, and the states have all spoken. If we overrule them, it would damage our republic forever," said the Senator in as impassioned a tone as he ever strikes on the floor.

9. Xi Orders China’s Military to Focus on ‘Preparing for War’ as Party Approaches 100th Anniversary – The Epoch Times
Chinese leader Xi Jinping has commanded the regime’s military to focus on “preparing for war,” as Beijing looks to make a splash in 2021—the year marking the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP).
In the first order of the year, Xi instructed the forces to ratchet up military training. As chairman of the regime’s Central Military Commission (CMC), Xi is head of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA), the CCP’s armed forces.
He ordered the PLA to “focus on preparing for war, deepen the transformation of military training, build a new type of military training system, and comprehensively improve the level of combat training and ability to win,” according to Chinese state media Xinhua.
The order follows the CCP’s escalation of military confrontations in several areas last year, including on the India-China border, the Taiwan Strait, and the South China Sea.

Pompeo: The ‘True Face’ of the CCP Has Been Exposed – The Epoch Times
In an interview with The Epoch Times’ “American Thought Leaders” program, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo elucidated on the Trump administration’s efforts to reconnect modern America to its founding origins based on God-given rights and described the present administration’s foreign policy of keeping America safe from the worldwide threat of communism.

Many say that the Constitutional Republic of the US is over if Republicans do not hold the presidency and Senate. It looks as though by those standards, it is over. But let us not forget that the Constitution remains intact. Its precepts enforceable. Let us also remember that God is our witness; that Christ is our salvation; that the Holy Spirit is our comforter and guide. The Republic should not define you. In fact, you should define the Republic. And that, my brothers and sisters, is the reason we are faced today with historic consequences of a revolutionary complacency. We are looking for solutions, but there are no solutions in politics, only compromise. And compromise is so systemic that it is as an evil upon our land.
Over the past 19 years, I have grown to know many of Daily Jot subscribers very well. You are the active ones. You are, as Christ said in Matthew 5:13-14, “.the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.” You have written letters. You have made phone calls. You have attended prayer meetings and prayer conference calls. You pray unceasingly. You speak truth wherever and whenever the opportunity. Still, with all this, the Republic is crumbling. And we look for many reasons—the legality of abortion, the killing of the unborn; the acceptance of same sex marriage; the censorship of God in the public square; the abomination of the dishonest scale—which is found in politics, elections, government, the church, entertainment, and business dealings.
But these are not things that you practice. In fact, much of this you and I do not have any control over. We are at our wits end because all of our prayer and acts seem to come to little. Well, it is time to become more strategic. I have written for a long time that the condition of our nation reflects the condition of the “church.” So long as the “church” in general is focused on extra-biblical, emotional and self-indulgent feel good religion, this nation and the world for that matter, will continue on its path into darkness. No doubt, the prophecies of the end time foretell this darkness as Christ said in Matthew 24:38, “For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until that day Noah entered into the ark.”
We cannot be defined by two seats in the Senate and the Presidency. You see, as is written in 1 Peter 2:9, “But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people: that you should show forth the praises of him who has called you out of darkness into his marvelous light.” We are the nation. There is a 70% majority of Christians in this nation. Trouble is, most do not even understand what it is to be a Christian because they haven’t heard the Word of God. When it comes down to the future of our nation being held by two Senate seats and the Presidency, we are holding onto the Republic by a thin-threaded rope. We need more than that. Be encouraged that you are the light in this present darkness and let that light shine. Hold accountability, especially with the “church.” Overcome evil with good. Christ showed us how.
