JUSTICE THOMAS SPEAKS FOR 70M AMERICANS ON THE ELECTION

February 23, 2021

Yesterday the Supreme Court declined to take up cases challenging the decision of a Pennsylvania state court to extend the ballot-receipt deadline in November’s election. Justice Thomas dissented with Justices Gorsuch and Alito in agreement that the Supreme Court should have taken these cases. Justice Thomas eloquently describes the damage that is being done to confidence in the electoral process and election systems. Here is an excerpt of Justice Thomas’ dissent.

The Constitution gives to each state legislature authority to determine the “Manner” of federal elections. Art. I, §4, cl. 1; Art. II, §1, cl. 2. Yet both before and after the 2020 election, nonlegislative officials in various States took it upon themselves to set the rules instead. As a result, we received an unusually high number of petitions and emergency applications contesting those changes. The petitions here present a clear example. The Pennsylvania Legislature established an unambiguous deadline for receiving mail-in ballots: 8 p.m. on election day. Dissatisfied, the Pennsylvania Supreme Court extended that deadline by three days.

Not only did parties on both sides agree that the issue warranted certiorari, but there also was no question that petitioners faced irreparable harm. (“‘[A]ny time a State is enjoined by a court from effectuating statutes enacted by representatives of its people, it suffers a form of irreparable injury’”). Petitioners further established a fair prospect of certiorari and reversal. For more than a century, this Court has recognized that the Constitution “operat[es] as a limitation upon the State in respect of any attempt to circumscribe the legislative power” to regulate federal elections. Because the Federal Constitution, not state constitutions, gives state legislatures authority to regulate federal elections, petitioners presented a strong argument that the Pennsylvania Supreme Court’s decision violated the Constitution by overriding “the clearly expressed intent of the legislature.”

Despite petitioners’ strong showing that they were entitled to relief, we divided 4–4 and thus failed to act… Four days later, petitioners filed the first of these petitions and moved to expedite consideration so the Court could decide the merits before election day. But by that time, election day was just over a week away. So we denied the motion to expedite even though the question was of “national importance” and there was a “strong likelihood that the State Supreme Court decision violates the Federal Constitution.”

Now that the petitions are before us under the normal briefing schedule, I see no reason to avoid them. Indeed, the day after we denied petitioner’s motion to expedite in No. 20–542, the case became even more worthy of review.

1. Meretz head sparks uproar by saying ICC probe against Israel legitimate - Times of Israel

The chairman of the left-wing Meretz party said Saturday that while he was pained by the International Criminal Court’s opening of a war crimes probe against Israel, “there were grounds for the decision,” sparking immediate uproar from other lawmakers, mostly on the right.

“People tell us, ‘You want Israel to be brought before the Hague.’ I don’t want Israel to be brought before the Hague… But Israel also has responsibility,” Nitzan Horowitz said in a Channel 13 interview.

“I say this with great sadness, there were grounds for the decision. I don’t want Israel to face these situations… but Israel needs to ask itself what it needs to do to prevent that,” he added, urging the government to cooperate with the Hague-based international court — something it has not done thus far.

2. Israeli jets escort American B-52s during flyby, in show of force to Iran - Times of Israel

Israeli F-15 fighter jets escorted two American B-52 bombers through Israeli airspace on Sunday in a new show of force by the United States against Iran — with an Israeli element — amid rising tensions in the region.

Recent weeks have seen multiple attacks on American military bases in Iraq by Iran-linked militias, including one last week that resulted in the death of an American contractor, as well an attack on an Israeli-owned ship in the Gulf of Oman that Israel has blamed on Tehran. Late last month, the US responded to the rocket attacks on its bases with an airstrike on an Iran-linked militia in Syria, killing at least one member.

Sunday’s flyby through the region by the B-52 heavy bombers was at least the seventh such maneuver in the past six months. It marked the first time that Israeli planes were photographed accompanying the US bomber, however. (Read more)

3.  Turkey wants maritime border with Israel, Erdogan confidante says - Israel Hayom

Ever since Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sissi became the country's president in June 2014, ties between Cairo and Ankara have been on the decline. The Egyptian leader's struggle against the Muslim Brotherhood set his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who identifies with the movement, against him. As a result, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu's Wednesday announcement that "Turkey would sign a maritime border agreement with Egypt" took many by surprise.

This wasn't the first surprising maritime move by Anakara. In December, Israel Hayom reported former admiral Cihat Yayci, a close confidant of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had proposed a bilateral agreement on the countries' shared exclusive economic zones in the Mediterranean Sea. Four months earlier, Ankara sent a clear message to Jerusalem on its desire to start talks on the subject but due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, talks were never held.

According to Yaici's proposal, both countries' maritime borders would join together at Cyprus' expense. Now, Erdogan's confidante has come up with a plan for a border agreement with Egypt that is in line with the maritime border agreement Ankara signed with Libya in 2019 and is also roughly in line with its proposal to Jerusalem. (Read more)

4. 'Israel May Go Into Lockdown Ahead of Elections,' COVID Chief Warns - Israel Hayom

In an interview with Army Radio, Sunday, coronavirus chief Nachman Ash said he believes that "if we clearly see that the opening threatens us, we may have to make a painful decision, even ahead of the elections."

After the government approved the easing of a series of pandemic restrictions, Saturday, Ash warned "in this process [of opening up] there is a lot of hope for a return to [normal] lives, but it also includes quite a few risks. If we don't adhere to the guidelines, there's a high chance of an outbreak in morbidity."

According to Health Ministry data released Sunday, 1,923 of the 45,938 people who tested for coronavirus were found to be carrying the virus, Wednesday, for an infection rate of 4.3%.

After hitting 0.99 last week, the reproduction rate rose once again and now stands at 1.02.

Israel currently has 40,650 active cases of the virus, 724 of which are serious. Of those in serious condition, 210 are on ventilators. (Read more)

5. EXCLUSIVE: Israeli technology can hack, take control and stop drone swarm - Jerusalem Post

. . . impressive as these statistics are, what was more remarkable about the demonstration was that D-Fend’s technology was able to hack multiple drones at the same time.

In fact, as the Post is now reporting for the first time, D-Fend CEO and chairman Zohar Halachmi revealed that the technology has already successfully hacked more than 10 drones that were part of drone swarm attacks at least twice in real-world situations.

In other words, preventing a drone swarm attack – the holy grail of anti-drone technology once thought years away – has already been achieved, and not just during a demonstration.

“We are dealing with swarms right now…we know how to deal with it,” said Halachmi. “Our systems are capable, embedded, tested and proven. Some of our locations have faced this.”ve-d-fend-has-stopped-multiple-drone-swarm-attacks-661241 (Read more)

8. Israel, US Reach Behind-the-Scenes Agreement on Iran - Bridges for Peace

Israel Foreign Minister.jpg

by Itamar Eichner

Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi

Wednesday, 3 March 2021 | Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi said on Tuesday that Israel and the United States have agreed that neither nation will make decisions pertaining to Iran and the Iran nuclear deal without informing the other first.

“If anyone thought the Americans would run to make an agreement with Iran—it did not happen up until now, and I hope it will not happen going forward,” Ashkenazi said in a Zoom call with Israeli representatives to East Asia and the Pacific, stressing that relations with the Biden administration were good and that he has been in close contact with his US counterpart, Anthony Blinken.

“There is a decision by a small forum constituting of the prime minister, the defense minister, foreign minister and the heads of the defense establishment to enter a dialogue with them in a non-oppositional manner, discuss Israeli interests and how to forge a great agreement that will safeguard Israeli and regional interests and prevent a nuclear Iran. Our policy is to exhaust this dialogue in person and to professionally converse with the Americans as allies.”

Israel’s top diplomat also spoke about Iranian threats on Israeli foreign missions after a suspected Iranian attack near the Israeli embassy in New Delhi, India, and said that the state was doing its best to ensure the well-being of its representatives abroad.

- Pray that the Lord will grant great wisdom to Israel’s leaders as they continue to forge relationships throughout the region. Beseech the Lord that discussions with the US will bear much fruit, ensuring that Israel’s interests are protected and Iran is kept from achieving its nuclear goals.

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye.” (Psalm 32:8)

The Daily Brief

1. Blinken: US stands with Israel, ICC lacks jurisdiction to investigate - Jerusalem Post

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken expressed the US's opposition to the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court's (ICC) decision to open a full war crimes probe against Israel and the Hamas terrorist group in the Gaza Strip on Wednesday night.

"The United States firmly opposes and is deeply disappointed by this decision. The ICC has no jurisdiction over this matter," Blinken said in a statement issued early Thursday morning. "Israel is not a party to the ICC and has not consented to the Court’s jurisdiction, and we have serious concerns about the ICC’s attempts to exercise its jurisdiction over Israeli personnel."

Blinken also stressed that the Palestinians don't qualify as a sovereign state and therefore cannot participate in the ICC. (Read more)

- Father God, we pray You fight for Israel and send warring angels to push back the ICC or any entity who would attempt jurisdiction over Israel. God's Name is in Israel and is soundly protected by intruders. In Jesus' Name.

- "They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the Lord, as the waters cover the sea." (Isaiah 11:9)

2.  Netanyahu speaks to Harris, tells her he won’t allow Iran to obtain nukes - Times of Israel

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Thursday spoke to US Vice President Kamala Harris, with the conversation focusing on the pandemic, the Iranian nuclear program, and the International Criminal Court’s decision to open an investigation into Israel over alleged war crimes, his office said.

The call, the first between them since the inauguration, came a day after the ICC announced it would investigate Israel and Palestinian terror groups over alleged war crimes and as the Biden administration seeks to reenter the Iran nuclear deal. Netanyahu’s office said Harris “expressed the total opposition of the American administration to the decision by the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court in The Hague.” The US State Department has condemned the ICC’s decision and argued the court lacks the jurisdiction to launch a probe.

“The prime minister said we would continue to strengthen our intelligence and security cooperation and said during their conversation that as prime minister of Israel, he is totally committed to preventing Iran from developing nuclear weapons that are meant for our destruction,” his office said. The readout from Harris’s office said the two agreed to continue cooperating on the Iran nuclear issue “and the regime’s dangerous regional behavior.”

US President Joe Biden has said he intends to re-enter the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) with Iran, setting him and Netanyahu on a potential collision course. Netanyahu strongly opposed the deal when it was made, and hailed former president Donald Trump’s decision to quit it in 2018.  (Read more)

- Righteous Father, we pray all enemies of Israel will be bound under the Blood of Jesus and constrained from haveing any authority or power over them.  Close off the road to leniency with Iran. Hold them bound to the 2015 JCPOA. We pray in Jesus' Name.

"Behold God is my salvation: I will trust, and not be afraid: for the Lord Jehovah is my strength and my song; He also is become my salvation."  (Isaiah 12:2)

3. Iranian Militia Group Claims to Have Active Cells in Washington DC: Report - The Epoch Times

A Telegram channel affiliated with Iran-backed militia groups in Iraq posted in English claiming to have a resistance cell with the capacity to target American troops inside the United States, according to a report. “The axis of resistance today is stronger than before. Resistance cells are rooted even in America and its capital,” read the alleged social media post, according to the Middle East Media Research Institute, which posted a screenshot of the message.

The post, which included a casket containing American soldiers, was made by the Kawtheryoon Electronic Team, a Telegram network that is said to be used by Iranian militia groups and supporters. The Telegram channel post also claimed that terror factions associated with Iran are growing ever stronger and gaining more support, while it called on U.S. forces to withdraw from not only Iraq, but the Middle East entirely.

The group also appeared to threaten Israel, referring to it as the “Zionist enemy,” saying “I will summarize for you in words only the horror of the south, which is stronger than before, and we have thousands of men like Imad Mughniyeh.” Mughniyeh is believed to have been the Iran-aligned Hezbollah chief of staff in Lebanon.

“Do not think that you and the Americans, by killing Qassem Soleimani and Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis, will survive the torment of the resistance,” the post added, referring to the Iranian commander and the Iraqi militia commander who were killed in an airstrike last year. “We lie in wait for you evil (sic) and the next thing is worse.”  (Read more)

- Father, seek out these evil active Iranian militia group cells in Washington, DC and destroy them by the Blood of Jesus. Diminish their power so they constantly slip backward and downward. Deplete the strength of their demonic intelligence. Destroy the Kawtheryoon Electronic Team by Your power. Evil loses. God wins. In Jesus Name.

- "For God shall bring every work into judgment, with every secret thing, whether it be good, or whether it be evil." (Ecclesiastes 12:14)

4. Nikki Haley lambasts Biden for rejoining UNHRC, renewing funding to UNRWA - Israel National News

Former US Ambassador to the UN, Nikki Haley, on Friday blasted US President Joe Biden for rejoining the UN Human Rights Council and restoring funding to UNRWA, the UN agency for “Palestinian refugees”. The US, which was previously UNRWA's largest contributor, cut a full $300 million in funding to the agency in 2018, when Donald Trump was President and Haley was UN Ambassador. Trump also withdrew from the UNHRC in 2018, citing its longstanding anti-Israel bias. However, the Biden Administration returned to the organization last month, even though it acknowledged its “disproportionate focus” on Israel.

Writing in an article entitled “Joe Biden Is Going Backward at the United Nations” which appeared in the Algemeiner website, Haley wrote, “If China, Russia, and Cuba started an organization that celebrated their tyranny in the name of human rights, would the United States want to join? If an organization that claimed to help refugees actually hurt them, while spreading anti-Semitism, would the United States want to fund it?”

She added, “The obvious answer to both questions is no. But if you put the words ‘United Nations’ in front of these two groups, suddenly people — including President Joe Biden — think they deserve US support.” Haley said Biden’s decisions “are bad and dangerous decisions. They insult the American taxpayer, injure American interests, and harm one of America’s closest allies — Israel.”

Of the UNHRC (UN Human Rights Council), she wrote it “doesn’t deserve the name” and noted that its members include “communist dictatorships, socialist regimes, and run-of-the-mill tyrannies”. “The dictators who run these countries use the Human Rights Council to protect themselves from criticism. They point to their membership as proof of their innocence and respectability. And instead of going after real human rights abusers, the Council targets one country above all others: free and democratic Israel,” added Haley.

On UNRWA, she said, “The relief agency’s mission is to support Palestinian refugees, but it doesn’t do that.” She added that the organization vastly inflates the number of “Palestinian refugees” and pointed out its textbooks which include “pro-terrorist propaganda." (Read more)

- Almighty God, we plead for Your intervention regarding Biden's ruinous policy decisions at the United Nations. Father God, we repent that our nation is now working to empower tyrants around the world through the work of the UNWRA. We also repent that we are supporting the UNHRC, as it works to empower the enemies of Israel. We pray for mercy, O God.  Save us to hold fast to all decisions made by the previous administration. In Jesus' Name we pray, amen.

"Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven." (Matthew 18:19)

5. Attempt to poison water supply deemed wakeup call to digital defenses - WND

A recent story from Florida should direct policymakers’ attention to a glaring strategic problem in American defense. In the city of Oldsmar, a small community in the Tampa metro area, an unknown hacker gained access to the chemical controls of the municipal water treatment system. Fortunately, an operator at the facility observed the breach in real time, watching as the intruder set the level of sodium hydroxide, commonly known as lye, to 100 times its normal level. The operator was able to immediately undo the change, so no one was harmed.

But what if that instant detection hadn’t happened? As of this writing, nothing is known about the source of the attack. And it wasn’t “just 'Oh, we're putting a little bit of chlorine or a little bit of fluoride, or a little bit of something,'” said Pinellas County Sheriff Bob Gualtieri.

“We're basically talking about lye that you are taking from 100 parts per million to 11,100 Florida Sen. Marco Rubio says he’s calling in the FBI for assistance in investigating the incident, which he believes “should be treated as a matter of national security.” Rubio is not wrong, but the federal government’s cybersecurity efforts are a strategic wreck. Protecting basic utilities from this sort of remote attack should be central to U.S. cybersecurity plans. Instead, our government spends nearly all its cybersecurity resources on offense. Rather than keeping key American infrastructure safe, Washington is off playing the digital highwayman." (Read more)

- Father, we thank God that this evil deed was detected and stopped. We pray for Your presence to fill America's airwaves and be our constant protection. Speak "repent" over all of us. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "The Lord lives; and blessed be my rock; and let the God of my salvation be exalted." (Psalm 18:46)

6. 2 months later, FBI director won't reveal cause of Capitol Police officer's death - WND

Capitol Police Officer Brian Sicknick died only a few hours after the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6.  For weeks, legacy media outlets proclaimed he was struck in the head with a fire extinguisher in the hands of supporters of President Trump. But evidence shows he wasn't. So how did he die?

It still remains a secret, according to FBI chief Christopher Wray. He told a congressional hearing this week: "There is an ongoing investigation into his death. I have to be careful at this stage, because it’s ongoing, not to get out in front of it."

Is there a cover-up taking place in connection with the Capitol Police officer's death?

Wray also declined to say whether investigators were looking into a homicide. "So does that mean since the investigation is going on, you have not determined the exact cause of the death?" Iowa Republican Sen. Chuck Grassley asked Wray. "That means we can’t yet disclose cause of death at this stage," Wray said.

Grassley pressed on, asking if a cause of death had been determined. "I didn’t say that," said Wray. "We’re not at a point where we could disclose or confirm the cause of death." (Read more)

- Lord God in Heaven, we take note that here in Washington, D.C., our local news has reported that Officer Sicknick's mother has stated he died due to a stroke. Lord God, only You know the facts in this case. We simply appeal to You to expose all hidden things in this case, so that this chapter in his life can be closed. Amen.

"For nothing is hidden, except to be revealed; nor has anything been secret, but that it would come to light." (Mark 4:22)

7. Pentagon Adds Training to Its Anti-Conservative Arsenal - FRC

There are a lot of threats in the world, but there is only one this president appears to care about combating -- conservatives. In yet another sign that America is doomed to a term of unprecedented extremism, the Biden administration just released its training materials for its "one-day military stand down" to weed out dangerous views. But what constitutes as dangerous? Good question, leaders say -- and not one they have an answer to.

If there's one thing the January 6th riots have given the Left, it's an excuse to flush out conservatives from just about every possible angle. The latest comes from the Defense Department, where new Secretary Lloyd Austin is putting the finish touches on a training session aimed at "rooting out" radicals in the ranks. But as time goes by, Politico points out, there's a "growing sense of anxiety within the Pentagon that this push could feed the perception that it is policing political thought, favoring one political party over another or muzzling free speech." And a quick scan through the official talking points shows they have plenty of cause for concern.

"As you heard in the secretary's video remarks," the document begins, "extremist ideologies, particularly those that undermine the oath we each took to support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic, have no place within the Department of Defense. Actively espousing ideologies that encourage discrimination, hate, and harassment against others will not be tolerated within our [unit]."

. . . As military attorney Roger Maxwell warned on "Washington Watch," "The line is just not clear at all." Unfortunately, the motives are -- to drive conservative and Christian members of the military either underground or out of the service altogether. (Read more)

- Righteous Father, this is a loud call for true Americans to fall on our knees and repent of our sins. Speak to us, Lord. We pray for You to save us from destruction from the Pentagon and the forces of evil. Raise up godly leaders. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "Behold, I will do a new thing; now it shall spring forth; shall you not know it? I will even make a way in the wilderness, and rivers in the desert." (Isaiah 43:19)

 8. Biden team 'has zero confidence' that 'absentee president' can handle press conference, Concha suggests

- Fox News

Joe Biden is showing himself to be an "absentee president" by not holding a solo press conference or scheduling an address to Congress despite having been in office for more than six weeks, Joe Concha told "America Reports" Thursday.

"I look at what President Biden said on January 14th where he said, as president-elect, he would address Congress 'next month', as in February," said Concha, a Fox News contributor and The Hill media columnist. "And when White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked about that, [she] said no promise was made that would happen, even though the president’s own words said they would."

. . . Concha went on to suggest that Biden's team "has zero confidence that this president can handle questions outside of handpicked reporters, which we have seen four or five questions and the questions are generally friendly unless the guy's name is [Fox News White House correspondent] Peter Doocy, and then from there we don’t hear from him in any capacity when he speaking at events." (Read more)

- Father in heaven, we pray for a man of God who is sound-minded to lead America and replace Joe Biden.  We pray for Your intervention to right the wrongs and place the man in office with spiritual nobility.  In Jesus' Name we pray.

"Wisdom strengthens the wise more than ten mighty men which are in the city."  (Ecclesiastes 7:19)

9. Supreme Court Dismisses 'Sanctuary City' Cases at Request of Biden's DOJ - The Epoch Times

The Supreme Court has dismissed three pending requests to hear challenges to the Trump administration’s order to withhold millions of dollars in law enforcement funds from so-called sanctuary jurisdictions—states and cities that refuse to cooperate with Department of Homeland Security efforts to deport people residing in the United States illegally. “After a request from the Biden administration yesterday, the Supreme Court just dismissed three pending cert petitions (requests to hear a case) about the Trump administration’s effort to withhold money from so-called sanctuary cities,” the SCOTUSblog Twitter account noted.

In 2017, President Donald Trump signed an executive order that called on U.S. agencies to withhold federal funds from sanctuary jurisdictions, many of which are governed by Democrats. Part of Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration, the order made federal money to state and local governments conditional upon their giving U.S. immigration officials access to their jails and advance notice when illegal immigrants were being released from custody. Lower courts were divided on whether the policy was lawful.

After taking office, Biden rescinded Trump’s 2017 executive order, in another course reversal by the new administration on various Trump policies that had been challenged in court and were heading to the Supreme Court for consideration. The three cases involve New York City, San Francisco, and various states including California and New York, with lawyers representing the various jurisdictions in the three cases saying they agreed with Biden’s DOJ that the cases should be tossed.

In a statement, New York Attorney General Letitia James expressed satisfaction with the move. “We’re pleased that despite the Trump administration’s attempts to exact revenge on cities and states through vindictive policies and continued litigation that we were able to work with the Biden administration to dismiss this case in the Supreme Court,” James said. “We look forward to continuing to work with the administration to ensure state and localities never have to choose between protecting their autonomy and protecting the public’s safety.” (Read more)

- Almighty God, we pray You will go to the root of this insanity by the Biden administration and bind under the Blood of Jesus all this evil they are bringing upon our nation.  Bring them down.  In the Name of Jesus we pray.

- "Therefore shall their plagues come in one day, death, and mourning, and famine; and they shall be utterly burned with fire: for strong is the Lord God who judges them." (Revelation 18:8)

10. Alabama Senate approves plan to criminalize trans amputations on kids - WND

The Alabama state Senate voted Tuesday to criminalize performing gender transition surgeries or hormone therapy on minors who identify as transgender.

Under the Vulnerable Child Compassion and Protection Act, doctors would be prohibited from treating Alabama minors with hormone therapy, surgery, or puberty blockers “intended to alter the minor child’s gender or delay puberty.” The bill would also require schools to let parents know if their child has the “perception that his or her gender is inconsistent with his or her sex” and establish criminal penalties for violations.

SB10 has passed the Alabama State Senate. The companion bill, HB1, has not yet passed the House.

The Alabama state Senate passed the legislation Tuesday 23-4, CBS News reported, sending the bill to the Alabama state House of Representatives. The Alabama house has already approved a companion bill, the publication reported, and the two combined bills would make it a felony for doctors to perform trans surgeries or hormone treatment on minors.

Medical professionals who violate the legislation, if passed and signed into law, could face up to 10 years in prison or pay a $15,000 fine, CBS reported. “Children aren’t mature enough to make these decisions on surgeries and drugs,” Republican Alabama state Sen. Shay Shelnutt, who sponsored the bill, told The Associated Press. “The whole point is to protect kids.” (Read more)

- Father God, we praise You, Lord, that the Alabama Senate approved this plan. We now pray the companion bill, HB1, will be approved by the House. Protect the children from becoming victims. In Jesus' Name we pray.

- "But when Jesus saw it, He was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer the little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not; for of such is the kingdom of God." (Mark 10:14)

Pence: Election Integrity Imperative

After an election marked by significant voting irregularities and numerous instances of officials setting aside state election law, I share the concerns of millions of Americans about the integrity of the 2020 election. . . .

That’s why when I was serving as presiding officer at the joint session of Congress certifying the Electoral College results, I pledged to ensure that all objections properly raised under the Electoral Count Act would be given a full hearing before Congress and the American people.

The tragic events of Jan. 6—the most significant being the loss of life and violence at our nation’s Capitol—also deprived the American people of a substantive discussion in Congress about election integrity in America.

Under the Constitution, elections are governed at the state level. And each state is required to appoint presidential electors “in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct.”

Many of the most troubling voting irregularities took place in states that set aside laws enacted by state legislatures in favor of sweeping changes ordered by governors, secretaries of state, and courts. . . .

Congress will vote this week on HR 1, the so-called For the People Act, a massive 800-page election overhaul bill that would increase opportunities for election fraud, trample the First Amendment, further erode confidence in our elections, and forever dilute the votes of legally qualified eligible voters. . . .

HR 1 would eliminate those safeguards and prevent states from implementing new, needed reforms. Polling shows that large numbers of Democrats did not trust the outcome of the 2016 election and that large numbers of Republicans still do not trust the outcome of the 2020 election. . . .

HR 1 mandates the most questionable and abuse-prone election rules nationwide, while banning commonsense measures to detect, deter, and prosecute election fraud.

. . . After a year in which our nation has endured a global pandemic, economic hardship, and a contentious election, now is not the time to further inflame passion and division. It is time for our nation’s leaders to help America heal.

To restore public confidence in our elections, our leaders should uphold the Constitution, reject congressional Democrats’ plan to nationalize our elections, and get about the serious work of state-based reform that will protect the integrity of the vote for every American.

The American people expect us to ensure that every eligible citizen is able to vote and also make sure that their vote is not stolen or diluted through errors, mistakes, or outright fraud.

Every citizen deserves the freedom to support, oppose, criticize, or promote the candidates and causes they believe in. And most importantly, the American people must have the utmost confidence that every voice matters, and every vote counts—or democracy cannot survive. . .

And most importantly, the American people must have the utmost confidence that every voice matters, and every vote counts—or democracy cannot survive. . . .

An “Up Periscope” Moment
Reflections on Big Tech Censorship

By Atara, 3.8.21

Can you imagine if you woke up one day, and you could not get onto the internet? Not at all? No matter what you tried, no matter what internet “on-ramp” you used, no internet. You can’t pay your bills online, you can’t do online banking, you can’t get to PayPal, you can’t search for information.

That is what happened to me.

A word of explanation is in order. When the Iron Curtain of Big Tech censorship fell on the weekend of Jan 8-10, it didn’t fall just on President Trump and his staff. It fell on MANY patriots, conservatives and Christians. And, it fell on me. I was blocked from the internet. And I had three different ways of getting onto the internet. Someone was VERY SERIOUS about silencing my voice and preventing me from getting online.

So, I prayed and sought the LORD. I asked Him, “What would you have me do?”

Signs & Wonders

ASTEROID 99942 APOPHIS

The next time you see this speck of light, you'll really see it. On April 13, 2029, asteroid 99942 Apophis will fly so close to Earth, it will be visible to the naked eye. Consider this a preview:

This morning, March 7th, Alberto Quijano Vodniza of Pasto, Colombia, video-recorded the asteroid zipping through the stars of Hydra. "I used a 14-inch Celestron telescope to capture these images, which show the asteroid's motion in about 10 minutes," he explains.

Apophis is currently making a "pre-flyby" of Earth. It is now 0.11 AU (16 million km) away--the closest it will be before the big event in 2029. Around the world, amateur astronomers have been photographing the 370-meter space rock, while NASA radars have been pinging it, gathering data on its shape and composition to improve predictions of what might happen 8 years hence.

What might happen is pretty interesting.

Apophis will come so close to Earth in 2029 that Earth's gravity might actually stretch the asteroid, deforming it and causing small avalanches. Radar observations during the hours of closest approach will be able to image the asteroid's surface with few-meter resolution, potentially revealing the changes. Shining like a 3rd magnitude star, Apophis will be plainly visible to the naked eye and an easy albeit fast-moving target for small telescopes.

At closest approach in April 2029 Apophis will dive through our planet's belt of geosynchronous satellites. That's close, but Apophis will not hit Earth. Back in 2004 when Apophis was first discovered, astronomers thought there might be a collision in 2029. Improved observations of Apophis's orbit have since ruled out a strike. We're safe. So relax and, when the time comes, enjoy the show. (Accuweather.com)

NY Public Library Stands Up to Cancel Culture: Won't Pull Seuss Titles Because It 'Does Not Censor Books'

Dr. Seuss Enterprises announced earlier this week it would stop publishing the six embattled books as "part of our commitment and our broader plan to ensure Dr. Seuss Enterprises' catalog represents and supports all communities and families," the company said in a statement to the Associated Press.

The New York Public Library announced Thursday it will not be removing the six sidelined Dr. Seuss books but will instead keep the titles in circulation until the existing copies are too worn out to distribute.

"As with all public libraries, the New York Public Library does not censor books," said spokeswoman Angela Montefinise, according to the New York Post.

Montefinise said the library, which serves Manhattan, the Bronx, and Staten Island, will keep the "cancelled" books—"And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street," "If I Ran the Zoo," "McElligot's Pool," "On Beyond Zebra!," "The Cat's Quizzer," and "Scrambled Eggs Super!"—on its shelves. Classic Hymns

In the Sweet By and By

"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." (John 14:2)

To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE

Lyrics:
There’s a land that is fairer than day
And by faith we can see it afar
For the Father waits over the way
To prepare us a dwelling place there

Refrain
In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore
In the sweet by and by
We shall meet on that beautiful shore

We shall sing on that beautiful shore
The melodious songs of the blessed
And our spirits shall sorrow no more
Not a sigh for the blessing of rest

Refrain

To our bountiful Father above
We will offer our tribute of praise
For the glorious gift of His love
And the blessings that hallow our days

Refrain

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much"  (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God."  [Romans 13:1]
