Bipartisan Proposal Would Ban Permanent Fencing Around US Capitol

A bipartisan pair of senators on March 25 introduced legislation that would ban permanent fencing around the outer perimeter of the U.S. Capitol complex, following widespread criticism about the fencing erected amid security concerns following the Jan. 6 Capitol breach.

The legislation was announced by Sens. Roy Blunt (R-Mo.) and Chris Van Hollen (D-Md.) at a press conference alongside Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-D.C.), who last month introduced an act in the House that would prohibit the installation of permanent fencing on Capitol grounds.

“The Capitol is the citadel of democracy, and we should not turn it into a fortress,” Van Hollen told reporters. “We should not wall the people’s house off from the people of the United States.”

The pair’s bicameral bill, based on legislation introduced in the House, prohibits funding for permanent fencing around the U.S. Capitol complex.

On March 24, the U.S. Capitol Police (USCP) said that all fencing around the outer perimeter of the U.S. Capitol complex had been removed, saying there’s no credible threat at this time. The USCP said, however, that the fencing closer to the Capitol building, the inner perimeter, will remain in place, as will the National Guardsmen.

“The U.S. Capitol is the most iconic symbol of democracy in the world. How we respond to the January 6th attack will send a clear message to everyone watching,” Blunt said in a statement. “Over the past two months, we have come together in a bipartisan way to look at the security failures that occurred and determine what needs to be done to prevent a similar attack from happening again.”

“There are clearly steps that need to be taken to strengthen security around the Capitol complex, but permanent fencing should not be a part of that response,” the Republican added, noting that the bill has bipartisan backing in both chambers of Congress.

Norton told reporters on March 25 that permanent fencing would send an “un-American and unnecessary message to the nation and the world” by “transforming our democracy from one that is accessible and of the people to one that is exclusive and fearful of its own citizens.” (Read more)

- Lord God, we thank You that some of the fencing has now been removed from the Capitol grounds, but we ask that all unnecessary barriers also be removed. We agree with the language of this bill, and we ask for its swift passage in Congress. In Your name, we pray, amen and amen.

- “Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 18:19)

Focus on Israel

1. Rivlin to announce choice to form government tomorrow - Israel National News

This morning (Monday), President Reuven Rivlin began his round of consultations with representatives of all the factions in the Knesset as part of the procedure for choosing the candidate to receive the mandate for forming a government out of the Knesset’s various parties. President Rivlin has expressed his growing concerns about whether or not any of the candidates have the potential for a functional government at this stage.

Currently, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has 52 recommenders (Likud, Shas, Torah Judaism and Religious Zionism), Lapid 45 (Yesh Atid, Blue and White, Labor, Yisrael Beiteinu and Meretz) and Yemina Naftali Bennett (7).

In a dramatic end to the evening, New Hope chairman Gideon Sa'ar did not recommend any candidate for the formation of a government. MK Yifat Shasha Bitton (New Hope) told Rivlin: "We call on you to summon Lapid and Bennett and help them reach an agreement." Rivlin replied that he could not intervene. The Joint List and UAL likewise refused to recommend any of the candidates. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu Gets Most Support After Lapid, Bennett Fail to Close Deal - Jerusalem Post

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu received more endorsements to form the next government than Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid on Monday, making it likely that he will receive the first mandate from President Reuven Rivlin on Tuesday.

In Rivlin’s consultations with the 13 factions in the new Knesset that will be sworn in on Tuesday, 52 MKs from four factions recommended Netanyahu, while 45 from five factions recommended Lapid. Yamina recommended its leader, Naftali Bennett; New Hope and the two Arab factions didn’t recommend anyone.

The decision by Yamina and New Hope not to recommend Lapid was aimed at obtaining the mandate from Rivlin for Bennett after Netanyahu fails to form a government during the 28 days he would receive from Rivlin.

The refusal of the Religious Zionist Party to join a coalition backed by Ra’am (United Arab List) will make it very difficult for Netanyahu to build a coalition. (Read more)

 3. Netanyahu as President Supported by Knesset Majority - Likud source

A majority of the MKs who will be sworn in to the Knesset on Tuesday would vote for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be Israel’s next president, a senior Likud source close to Netanyahu told The Jerusalem Post on Sunday.
By law, the election for president must be held between April 9 and June 9, before President Reuven Rivlin’s seven-year term expires on July 9. The politician closest to Netanyahu, Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin, will set the date for the vote in the Knesset, which must be held at least three weeks after the date is announced.

“I know for a fact that most of the MKs would vote for him if he decides he wants to be president,” the senior Likud source said. “It’s all in Netanyahu’s hands.”

The source revealed that there is also a majority in the new Knesset to change the law and switch the vote from a secret ballot to an open one, which could significantly increase the chances of Netanyahu’s election. (Read more)

4. Yair Lapid: I Offered Bennett First Term as PM in Israeli Unity Government - Algemeiner

i24 News – Yesh Atid head Yair Lapid revealed Monday night that he had offered Israel’s former Defense Minister Naftali Bennett a prime minister rotation deal in which the right-wing leader would serve first.

“The test for a leader is to take tough decisions in complex situations,” the centrist lawmaker said at the close of a long day of prime minister nominations by the Knesset’s parties.

“We are committed to bringing about the change we promised to the people of Israel. To prevent a government led by a criminal suspect and dependent on racists and extremists,” Lapid stressed.

The Yesh Atid leader, whose party secured 17 Knesset mandates to Bennett’s 7, was referring to incumbent Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu who earlier on Monday appeared in court for his graft trial. (Read more)

5. Gantz vows to assist Jordan, in first Israeli comment after alleged coup attempt - Times of Israel

Defense Minister Benny Gantz on Sunday said Israel was prepared to assist Jordan as necessary following an alleged coup attempt there over the weekend, in the first official comments from Jerusalem about the issue.

Gantz referred to the incident as an “internal Jordanian issue,” stressing Israel’s close security ties to Amman.

“A strong and flourishing Jordan is a security and economic interest for us, and we need to do what we can to help them,” Gantz said.

“But as I said, regarding the internal developments there — that’s an internal issue,” he said. (Read more)

1. Arizona Senate Hires 4 Firms to Audit 2.1 Million Ballots From 2020 Election - The Epoch Times

The Republican-led Arizona state Senate on March 31 announced that four firms have been hired to audit election results and recount the 2.1 million ballots cast in Maricopa County’s 2020 general election to ensure the legitimacy of President Joe Biden’s win.

The announcement from Sen. Karen Fann (R-Ariz.) comes just weeks after Arizona legislators ordered a recount of the ballots from the state’s most populous county. The state Senate released a statement on March 18 saying it will conduct a “broad and detailed” audit, adding that it will test voting machines, scan ballots, look for IT breaches, and perform a hand count.
Recounts are something state law doesn’t allow except in narrow circumstances, but a judge’s ruling (pdf) said the Senate has oversight powers that allow it to do whatever election review it wants.

The independent audit will be conducted by four out-of-state companies; Wake Technology Services, CyFIR, Digital Discovery, and Cyber Ninjas. A report is expected to be released in about 60 days, a statement from the state Senate says. (Read more)

- Lord, we praise You for Arizona’s action in the election case. We ask that the findings be true and accurate, not twisted by the media or ignored by the legislatures or courts.

2. Trump says companies playing to 'woke cancel culture' over Ga. election bill, calls for boycott - Fox

Former President Trump suggested Saturday that Republicans take a page out of what he sees as Democrats' playbook by boycotting the major businesses that have condemned Georgia's new election reform.

"For years the Radical Left Democrats have played dirty by boycotting products when anything from that company is done or stated in any way that offends them. Now they are going big time with WOKE CANCEL CULTURE and our sacred elections," Trump wrote in a statement.

"It is finally time for Republicans and Conservatives to fight back—we have more people than they do—by far! Boycott Major League Baseball, Coca-Cola, Delta Airlines, JPMorgan Chase, ViacomCBS, Citigroup, Cisco, UPS, and Merck. Don’t go back to their products until they relent," he continued.

'We can play the game better than them," Trump said. (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You that Donald Trump sees clearly the problem, but we also know that boycotts are only temporary in effectiveness. We ask for a full removal of every portion of the “cancel culture” and stop any corporations that are destroying our society by pandering to it.

- “And he said, ‘What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness. All these evil things come from within, and they defile a person.’” (Mark 7:20-23)

3. Barrasso slams Biden over kids in 'captivity,' says he was told to delete photos of border facilities - Fox

Senate Republican Conference Chair Sen. John Barrasso on Sunday slammed the Biden administration over minors in "captivity" at the border being packed "in like sardines" as Republicans continue to hammer the president over what they say is a border crisis.

Barrasso, R-Wyo., also told "Sunday Morning Futures" host Maria Bartiromo that border officials told GOP senators on their recent visit to the border to delete photos they took of the facilities.

"This is both a humanitarian crisis and a national security crisis," Barrasso said. "You may have seen the numbers today are the highest in history of unaccompanied minors currently in captivity. They are crammed in like sardines. And this is what the Biden administration is trying to hide from the American public." (Read more)

- Lord, the situation at the border is untenable and cannot continue. We pray that You will reveal who is helping these children come here, and bring Your wisdom and solution into play. We cut off the root of this problem in every corner, from every demonic power involved by the Blood of Jesus and authority of His name! We ask for Your mercy to bring these children to You and stop them from coming.

4. Montana Bans Sanctuary Cities For Illegal Immigrants- Daily Wire

Montana Gov. Greg Gianforte (R) signed legislation banning so-called sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants within his state on Wednesday.

The move is largely symbolic since Montana does not have any sanctuary cities, though it is representative of state GOP executives pushing back as President Joe Biden and a Democratic Congress continue to push progressive reforms. Former Montana Gov. Steve Bullock, a Democrat, vetoed similar legislation in 2019.

“We are a nation of laws, and immigration laws will be enforced in Montana,” Gianforte said in a statement, according to the Associated Press.

The bill bars state and local police from refusing to comply with federal law or work with Immigration and Customs Officials to apprehend and deport illegal immigrants. The law also grants authority to Montana’s attorney general to pursue legal action against cities and localities that do not comply. (Read more)

- Lord, we praise You for this bill and ask that You move on other Governors around the country to do the same.

5. Joe Biden’s USCIS Removing Term ‘Alien’ from Manual to Be ‘More Inclusive’- Breitbart

President Joe Biden’s United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) is removing the term “alien” to refer to foreign nationals in the U.S. from the agency’s policy manual.

USCIS officials seemingly confirmed this week that the agency’s policy manual will no longer include the term “alien” to describe foreign nationals in the U.S. and instead will feature “more inclusive language.”

The term “alien” is regularly used in the Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965 to describe foreign nationals living in the U.S. Civil Rights icon former Rep. Barbara Jordan (D-TX) also used the term “alien” to describe foreign nationals when she led a legislative coalition to reduce overall legal immigration levels in the mid-1990s.

The USCIS policy manual currently includes the term “alien” more than 1,700 times. Agency officials confirmed they will replace the term with the term “noncitizen.” (Read more)

- Lord, from the words we speak to the sports or television we watch, everything has become political. We pray for Your Spirit to move across America, bringing repentance and heart change. We ask for a new “Great Awakening” both for Your church and for those who don’t understand that they need You.

- “Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out.” (Acts 3:19)

6. Pelosi: ‘Transgender Servicemembers Will Now Have Access to Essential Medical Treatment Needed to Transition’ – CNS News

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D.-Calif.) put out a statement on Wednesday—the “International Transgender Day of Visibility”—celebrating President Joe Biden’s decision to allow transgenders to serve in the military in the gender they identify as and the Biden Defense Department’s decision to provide transitioning surgery to transgender service members.

“Today, on International Transgender Day of Visibility, the Biden Administration is reaffirming this truth: that our transgender servicemembers are American heroes, and their patriotic service should be honored with dignity and respect,” Pelosi said.

“This important step keeps the promise made by President Biden in his first week of office to reverse the hateful Trump assault waged against the thousands of transgender Americans who serve in our military,” she said. (Read more)

- Lord, we repent on our faces for allowing the government to be complicit in the spreading of this sin throughout our nation. Please let this not happen to our military. We ask with all our hearts for a move of Your Spirit to change the course of the country.

- “If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.” (1 John 1: 8-10)

7. Half a billion Facebook users' information posted on hacking website, cyber experts say – CNN business

The personal information of about half a billion Facebook users, including their phone numbers, have been posted to a website used by hackers, cybersecurity experts say.
There are records for more than 32 million accounts in the United States, 11 million in the United Kingdom, and 6 million in India, according to Alon Gal, the CTO of cyber intelligence firm Hudson Rock.

Details in some cases include full name, location, birthday, email addresses, phone number, and relationship status, he said. Hudson Rock showed CNN Business the phone numbers of two our senior staff which are included in the database. The leak was first reported by the news website Insider.

"This is old data that was previously reported on in 2019. We found and fixed this issue in August 2019," Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone told CNN Saturday.
Facebook did not say if it notified affected users at the time. (Read more)

8. Iowa Governor Signs Law Letting Residents Buy, Carry Guns Without Permits - Epoch Times

Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds signed legislation into law on April 2 lifting some restrictions on the purchase or carrying of a handgun in the state for law-abiding citizens.

The NRA-backed legislation, named “House File 756,” will take effect on July 1 and eliminates the requirement for law-abiding Iowans to obtain a permit to purchase a handgun from private nonlicensed sources. Additionally, people will no longer need a permit in order to carry a weapon.

Individuals will still have to follow federal law and go through an instant background check to buy from licensed sellers each time they purchase a gun.

People who fail to commit to the new law will be charged with a Class D felony, which is punishable by up to five years in prison. It will become a felony if a person sells, rents, or loans a firearm to someone the seller “knows or reasonably should know” isn’t legally allowed to get a gun or is intoxicated.

The new law has been supported by the National Rifle Association (NRA), which applauded the governor for signing the bill allowing law-abiding adults to carry a concealed firearm without first asking the government for a permit. (Read more)

- Father God, we applaud Governor Reynolds for making this move to uphold the Second Amendment rights of the citizens of the State of Iowa. We ask that all of the governors of our 49 other states would do the same. For those who have been obstinate in not upholding our Second Amendment rights, we ask that You would move upon each heart, causing a reversal in their actions. We ask in Your name, amen and amen.

9. US puts J&J in charge of plant that botched COVID vaccine, removes AstraZeneca – Fox Business

The United States has put Johnson and Johnson in charge of a plant that ruined 15 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine and has stopped British drugmaker AstraZeneca Plc from using the facility, a senior health official said on Saturday. J&J said it was "assuming full responsibility" of the Emergent BioSolutions facility in Baltimore, reiterating that it will deliver 100 million doses to the government by the end of May.

The Department of Health & Human Services facilitated the move, the health official said in an email, asking not to be named due to the sensitivity of the matter.

AstraZeneca, whose vaccine has not been approved in the United States, said it will work with President Joe Biden's administration to find an alternative site to produce its vaccine.
White House officials did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The development, first reported by the New York Times, further hampers AstraZeneca's efforts in the United States. The government has criticized the drugmaker for using outdated data in the results of its vaccine trial. It later revised its study. (Read more)

- Lord, we praise You that the company that messed up so many doses of vaccine has been removed. But we also pray that Your angelic host will stand guard over all the vaccines and protect those who choose to take them.

- “God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.” (Psalm 46:1)

10. US to offer Iran new nuclear deal, sanctions relief this week – report – Jerusalem Post

The United States is trying to break the nuclear deadlock with Iran and is planning a new proposal that would include some sanctions relief for the Islamic Republic, according to a report in Politico.

Biden administration officials plan to put forth a new proposal to restart nuclear talks between Washington and Tehran as soon as this week, two people familiar with the situation told Politico.

According to the report, the American proposal would ask Iran to stop some of its nuclear activities, such as work on advanced centrifuges and the enrichment of uranium to 20 percent purity, in exchange for some relief from US economic sanctions, said one of Politico's two sources.

However, the details of this potential deal are still being worked out by the US and it’s not at all certain that Iran will accept the terms. Indeed, Tehran rejected a US proposal earlier this year, saying it was "unacceptable", countering with their own idea, which the Biden team declared a non-starter.

The Biden administration has been seeking to engage in talks with Iran about having both sides returning to compliance with the deal, under which American-imposed and other economic sanctions will be removed in return for curbs on Iran's nuclear program to make it harder to develop a nuclear weapon - an ambition Tehran denies. (Read more)

Lord, we ask that any deceit used by Iran for plans to harm other nations be quickly revealed and stopped. We ask that the sanctions remain and that the truth of their subterfuge be revealed.

“No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment You shall condemn.” (Isaiah 54:17)

11. Supreme Court Rules Google Did Not Violate Copyright Law When It Used Oracle Code for Androids - Epoch Times

Google did not infringe Oracle’s copyright when it used that company’s programming code in the Android cellphone operating system, the Supreme Court ruled this morning overturning a lower court ruling that favored Oracle.

Oracle had been seeking an estimated $9 billion in damages in the decade-old litigation between the tech companies that could have changed the rules of the road for the software industry.

Justice Stephen Breyer wrote the 6-2 decision for the high court in Google LLC v. Oracle America Inc., court file 18-956. The case came to the court on appeal from the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.

Justice Clarence Thomas filed a dissenting opinion that Justice Samuel Alito joined. Justice Amy Coney Barrett did not participate in the case. She was not yet a member of the court when the case was heard telephonically Oct. 7, 2020. (Read more)

- "Heavenly Father, in Jesus' Name, we ask You to expose the power of major companies such as Google as they copy the work of other companies. Here, the Supreme Court, with dissents from Justices Thomas and Alito, ruled that Google's copying of a portion of Oracle's software to "reimplement a user interface, taking only what was needed to allow users to put their accrued talents to work in a new and transformative program, constituted a fair use of that material as a matter of copyright law." We pray this decision will open minds in our leaders to a fresh examination of copyright law and the role these major companies play in our nation."

- "And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” (Matthew 21:22)

12. Supreme Court Dismisses Lawsuit Over Trump Blocking Critics on Twitter – The Epoch Times

The Supreme Court moved on April 5 to dismiss a lawsuit from former President Donald Trump that asked the justices to allow him to block critics on Twitter.

The nation’s highest court agreed with the Department of Justice (DOJ), which told it in January that the case would become moot when Joe Biden was sworn in as president.
“That transition will moot this case, as then-President Biden will have no ability to control the use of Donald J. Trump’s personal Twitter account. Because this case warrants review but will become moot pending such review, the Court should follow its established practice of granting certiorari and vacating the judgment,” the DOJ said in a filing.

Under Trump, the DOJ had asked the Supreme Court to overturn a ruling from the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals, which, in 2019, ruled that Trump violated the First Amendment when he prevented some users from viewing or commenting on his Twitter posts. (Read more)

- Lord, we are thankful that this case was dismissed. We ask that any further social media that Donald Trump employs would be safe for him to use without censorship or problems with hostile people. Let him be free in every area of his life.

- “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” (John 8:36)

Passover, Easter, Resurrection Day, Your Heart

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, Monday, April 5, 2021

Every year there are a rash of television programs depicting various aspects of the crucifixion, burial, and resurrection of Christ the Messiah. There are also many debates as to whether Easter is a pagan holiday designed to bring together the Roman Empire during the 2nd Century. Then there are those who say that irrespective of the Roman politics or what other religions celebrate, during Easter the world celebrates Christ’s act of salvation on the cross, a reminder to all of the gift of salvation unto everlasting life. Many people have many different ways of commemorating this powerful event—Passover, Easter, Resurrection Day, First Fruits, among them. Point is, where is your heart?

We can debate the hypocrisy and commercialization, the political intentions, the historic facts. We can criticize various religious practices and their intent. But where does it land in your heart? The celebration of Christ’s death and resurrection is heart related. The gift of salvation, of everlasting life, is a treasure and it is manifest in the actions of our heart. For as Christ said in Matthew 6:21, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.”  Please allow me to relay an Easter story of my heart, as told by Pastor William Agbeti in Ghana, West Africa, where prayers and resources demonstrate how actions here on earth lay up heavenly treasures.

Agbeti writes: “This year’s 2021 Easter celebrations, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic, may forever be etched in the memories of a select group of needy children and their families as the most memorable! Some 38 parents, drawn from an underserved area in rural Ghana, together with 80 of their children, gathered at a local church to each receive a week’s supply of foodstuffs from our ministry. These parents and children experienced something that had never before occurred in their lives. The beneficiaries were organized with the help of our volunteers, in cooperation with a local church. Even at the last minute of presentation, many unlisted children and their parents poured in, and we had to reduce foodstuffs in each package, in order to take care of them.

“Dressed in their best for the Easter festivity, the parents and the children graced the occasion with neat and flowery attires. Five, ten or fifteen years from now, as these children look back on their lives, they will no doubt see the love of God even when they were yet children. To us in the ministry, every day is Christmas or Easter, as we share, care for and serve the needy with love. As testimonies pour in from beneficiaries for the love shown them, we are reminded of those who make it possible–God, through human instrumentalities, those who show by their actions the treasures of their hearts.”

On occasions like Easter, God’s children in Africa are not debating what Easter should be called or the politics or the hypocrisy. Even though many have very little, they come out of their homes. They dress their best before God. They celebrate their love for and the blessings of Christ. And in this case, their absolute joy for the salvation of the cross was made even greater knowing they could go back home and have meals for the rest of the week. This world is a very difficult and perilous place. It is becoming even more so. What I want to convey, and maybe I’m not quite able to give it proper justice, is that we need each other and a little kindness and love goes a long way, especially as we journey ahead in these increasingly difficult times. Blessings to you.

Murder on The Hill

Capitol Hill came under attack Friday. A car rammed a security barrier, striking two Capitol Hill police officers in the process. The driver then jumped out of the car, armed with a knife, and lunged at the officers. The attacker was shot and killed.

Capitol Hill Police Officer
William Evans, an 18-year veteran of the department, was killed in the attack. Our hearts and prayers go out to his family, including his two young children. Evans was doing an important job on Capitol Hill, and he deserves to be remembered and honored for his service.

Friday's attack provided further evidence of how every news event is being filtered through a left-wing narrative in order to mold public opinion. The primary facts about the killer were often left out of most media reports.

The media reported that he quoted the Book of Revelation and that the attack occurred on Good Friday. Was the driver a radical right Christian? Nothing could be further from the truth.

The media initially said that authorities could not find any link between the attacker and extremist groups. That was a lie. The attacker was a black Muslim, and
a follower of Louis Farrakhan, whose stock and trade is hateful extremism aimed at America, Jews and whites.

Barack Obama and the Congressional Black Caucus know just how extreme Louis Farrakhan is. That's why they went to great lengths
to hide pictures for 13 years of a secret event they held with Farrakhan so the public would not associate Obama with the anti-Semitic Nation of Islam leader.

Just to be clear about this, the man who murdered Officer William Evans was a black supremacist. That is the
philosophy of Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam.

Not only was that phrase not used in any media reporting that I saw, but something even more telling happened. In a country where the media and the political left are obsessed with race, the killer quickly became a man with no race. I did not hear one reporter describe the attacker as a black man. (Gary Bauer; End-of-Day Report)

Toxic wastewater reservoir on verge of collapse in Florida could cause "catastrophic event"

Hundreds of residents in Manatee County, Florida, were ordered to evacuate their homes over Easter weekend as officials feared that a wastewater pond could collapse "at any time." On Saturday, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis declared a state of emergency for the area.

County officials said the pond, located at the former Piney Point phosphate processing plant, had a "significant leak," according to CBS affiliate WTSP-TV. The Manatee County Public Safety Department told people near the plant to evacuate due to an "imminent uncontrolled release of wastewater."

"A portion of the containment wall at the leak site shifted laterally," said Manatee Director of Public Safety Jake Saur, "signifying that structural collapse could occur at any time."

Manatee County Public Safety Department initially sent out emergency evacuation notices on Friday for those who were within half a mile of Piney Point, and by 11 a.m. Saturday, evacuation orders were extended to people within one mile north of the reservoir's stacks of phosphogypsum — a fertilizer waste product — and those within half a mile to the south of the site. Surrounding stretches of highway were also closed to traffic. (CBS News) Read more.

The Good News Corner

Franklin Graham wins court battle after crusade ads yanked off buses in England

Evangelist Franklin Graham on Thursday won a two-year court battle with a town in England that yanked his crusade ads off buses because of his “anti-LGBTQ” remarks.

Blackpool, a resort town along the Irish Sea, and a transit company “discriminated” against Graham “on the ground of religion,” Judge Claire Evans ruled, according to a copy of her 35-page decision.

In a statement to The Charlotte Observer, Graham said he thanked God for the ruling “because it is a win for every Christian in the UK.”

Graham has a right to freedom of expression, Evans wrote, “and the role of the court is not to enquire into the validity of differing religious views, or to give preference to some over others.

“All religions and beliefs are characteristics protected by law,” according to the judge. “The domestic courts and the European Court of Human Rights have consistently affirmed that a pluralistic tolerant society allows for the expression of many different and sometimes diametrically opposed beliefs.” (Charlotte Observer) Read more here.

- Father God, we rejoice at today's Good News report out of England. Thank You,
Lord, that Franklin Graham has been vindicated in this matter, and we ask for Your
continued Hand of blessing to rest upon his ministry in these trying times. In Your
Name, amen and amen.

- "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!" (Psalm 150:6)

Today’s Prophetic Word

Wanted: Misfits, rebels and true warriors.
By Mario Murillo

I am looking for those who aren't waiting for permission to save a nation from destruction.

Today, I write about violence. Today, I write to the violent. There is no point in talking to those who are afraid of their own shadow, or those who can’t wait for a return to the same old harmless lukewarm religion as before, when America reopens. This blog is not for those who practice ‘cuddly-Christianity.’

Matthew 11:12, “And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force.”

The Left says, “Be a good little Christian, we got this.”  They warn pastors, “Just because the pandemic is winding down, that doesn’t mean we won’t stop telling you when you can meet and what you can preach.  They say, “Get used to less privacy, less rights, and less money.” They used that cursed phrase, “new normal.”

So are you going to bend or stand? If you answer, “Stand,” then read on.

I am on the hunt for misfits! I am looking for those rare hearts who defy the lie. Those who confess with conviction that every dream—every vision—every strategy that God gave us is unchanged by the virus.

What are you doing during this shutdown, warrior? My guess is, instead of downgrading your dream, you downloaded defiance.  You didn’t relax, you reloaded. You aren’t whimpering and whining, but forging and shining.  You aren’t mooing with the cattle, you are yearning for battle.  (Read more)

Words and Music: African American spiritual

ScriptureThe voice of Thy thunder was in the heaven: the lightnings lightened the world. Psalm 77:18

Steal away, steal away, steal away to Jesus!
Steal away, steal away home,
I ain’t got long to stay here.

My Lord, He calls me,
He calls me by the thunder;
The trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain’t got long to stay here.

Refrain

Green trees are bending,
Poor sinners stand a-trembling;
The trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain’t got long to stay here.

Refrain

My Lord, He calls me,
He calls me by the lightning;
The trumpet sounds within my soul,
I ain’t got long to stay here.

Refrain

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners

Our Mission Statement

Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].

Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much"  (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God."  [Romans 13:1]
