US puts brake on UN statement over Middle East tensions
|
|
The United States is delaying United Nations Security Council efforts to issue a public statement on escalating tensions between Israel and the Palestinians because it could be harmful to behind-the-scenes efforts to end the violence, according to diplomats and a source familiar with the US strategy. Speaking on condition of anonymity, the source said Washington is "actively engaged in diplomacy behind the scenes with all parties to achieve a ceasefire" and was concerned that a council statement might be counterproductive at the moment.
The Security Council privately discussed on Monday clashes in East Jerusalem around al-Aqsa mosque. The holy city has been tense during the Muslim fasting month of Ramadan, with the threat of a court ruling evicting Palestinians from homes claimed by Jewish settlers adding to the friction. Before a further upsurge of violence, the 15-member Security Council began discussions on a draft statement that would express concern about the clashes and the potential evictions, call on Israel to cease Jewish settlement activities, demolitions and evictions, and urge general restraint.
Such statements have to be agreed by consensus. But diplomats said the United States, a close ally of Israel, told council counterparts that the body should not issue a statement at the moment. The US mission to the United Nations said: "The United States is engaging constructively to ensure any action by the Security Council is helpful in de-escalating tensions." State Department spokesman Ned Price told reporters that Washington wanted to see steps to help de-escalate the violence, whether the steps came from Israel, the Palestinian Authority or the Security Council.
"The United Nations is working with all relevant parties to de-escalate the situation urgently," UN spokesman Stephane Dujarric said on Tuesday. He said Secretary-General Antonio Guterres is saddened by "the increasingly large numbers of casualties, including children. Israeli security forces must exercise maximum restraint and calibrate their use of force. The indiscriminate launching of rockets and mortars towards Israeli population centers is unacceptable," Dujarric told reporters. (Jerusalem Post) Read more here.

- Father God, we stand by Israel in prayer, We thank You that the IDF HAS exercised great restraint in its use of force to retaliate against the many vicious attacks launched against their land and their people by the Palestinians. We agree with the last statement in this press release: "The indiscriminate launching of rockets and mortars towards Israeli population centers is unacceptable." We urge this body to work effectively to help quell the violence on both sides of this battle, and we pray for the peace and the safety of all who live in Israel. In Your Name, amen and amen.
- "For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them." (Matthew 18:20)

1. Israel will 'intensify and expand' Gaza attacks, says IDF chief - Israel National News
IDF Chief of Staff Aviv Kochavi announced Tuesday afternoon that Israel’s military will expand its air campaign in the Gaza Strip, as rocket fire from the Hamas-ruled enclave into Israel continues.
Following a situational assessment meeting Tuesday morning, Kochavi ordered the IDF to expand and intensify Operation
Guardian of the Walls, the air campaign targeting Hamas and Islamic Jihad terrorists in the Gaza Strip.
Kochavi said the military has been instructed to target every Hamas terrorist or member of any other terror organization in the Strip. (Read more)

2. IDF destroys Gaza high-rise used by Hamas - Israel National News
The Israel Air Force destroyed a 13-story high-rise in Gaza City which was used by Hamas.
Channel 12 News reported that Israel sent text messages to residents of the building and a 'roof-knocking' missile to warn people to evacuate ahead of the air strike.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad have launched over 600 rockets at Israel since yesterday. Two women were killed by a rocket barrage on Ashkelon Tuesday afternoon.

3. Massive barrage targets Tel Aviv area, at least 1 killed - Israel Hayom
As Israel continues its operation against terrorists in the Gaza Strip, Hamas warned on Tuesday that it may expand the range of its attacks by targeting Tel Aviv and shortly afterward fired its first salvo.
The barrage was followed by at least two successive ones and reached as far north as Netanya, although it was not immediately clear if there were casualties. According to first responders, several Israelis were moderately wounded in Holon, just south of Tel Aviv. In Rishon L'Zion, one woman was killed and in the same city a bus was hit but luckily it was empty. In the city of Givatayim, a building sustained a direct hit as well, resulting in several minor injuries. As of Tuesday night, there were also several dozen injured, including a 5-year-old girl who sustained a life-threatening injury due to shrapnel hitting her head. At least two other people were in serious condition.
According to statements issued by the Gaza rulers before the salvos on Tel Aviv, if Israel continues its massive offensive against its operatives and specifically if hits high-rise buildings, it will hit Israel's commercial metropolis and a symbolic target, two days after it tried to hit the capital Jerusalem.
Shortly after Hamas issued that threat, reports from Gaza indicated a high-rise has collapsed, and the Islamic terrorists said they would retaliate by 9 p.m., and this resulted in the major attacks. Amid the attack on central Israel, Tel Aviv's Ben Gurion airport halts departures; arrivals were also disrupted. Meanwhile, a strategic facility connected to an oil pipeline in the Ashkelon area was hit and caught fire. (Read more)

4. Border Guard Police Arrive in Lod to Quell Arab-Jewish Civil War - Jewish Press
Israeli Border Guard Police units entered the central Israeli city of Lod shortly after midnight, in the wee hours of Wednesday. The Israeli government imposed a civil state of emergency on the city after unprecedented anti-Jewish riots by Arab Israelis in the city.
A full-scale Arab-Jewish civil war has been taking place in the mixed Arab-Israeli city over the past few days. Arab rioters began burning and attacking Jewish homes late Tuesday night. Arab rioters also attacked Jewish motorists traveling through the streets of the city.
A Jewish man was seriously wounded by stone-throwers as the funeral of an Arab protester who died in the central Israeli city descended into violence. (Read more)

5. Two Israelis dead, over 90 injured after Gaza rockets strike Ashkelon - Jerusalem Post
Two women were killed and more than 90 people were injured on Tuesday after rockets, fired from the Gaza Strip, slammed into a number of homes in Ashkelon and Ashdod. Four of the injured were members of the same family.
One of the women was in her 80s and the other was in her 60s. One of the women was identified as Soumya Santhosh, an Indian national who worked as a caregiver for an elderly woman in Ashkelon. Santhosh was killed in the strike while the elderly woman sustained serious injuries.
The four family members were evacuated to Ashkelon's Barzilai Medical Center. Authorities said that the 40-year-old father was in moderate-to-serious condition suffering from injuries to his head. The mother, 39, was in moderate condition and the children suffered from light injuries. (Read more)

1. China has used 'army' of fake Twitter accounts to amplify message on social media platform, report - Just The News
China's ruling Communist Party has used tens-of-thousands of fake Twitter accounts to push pro-government, anti-Western rhetoric on the social media site, according to findings of a joint analysis released Tuesday.
The analysis was conducted by the Associated Press and the Oxford Internet Institute, a department at Oxford University. It started as early as late-2019 and concluded last year. The analysis found at least 26,879 fake Twitter accounts that "liked" and shared over 200,000 post by Chinese media and diplomats before they were removed by the social media platform.
Liu Xiaoming, the former Chinese ambassador to the United Kingdom, is one of the Chinese Communist Party's best social media manipulators, according to wire service. (Read more)

- Lord, there is so much deception going on in the social media world, as well as the "legacy media". Your word says the truth sets the captives free (John 8:32), it also says for lack of knowledge, the people perish (Hosea 4:6). Therefore, Abba, it seems we need truth and knowledge in order to defeat deception and manipulation. Please release it for us so we may stand free and strong as a nation.

2. McConnell to speak at Senate hearing, sign of GOP opposition to Dems' sweeping voting reform bill - Just The News
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is set to personally argue at a chamber hearing Tuesday on congressional Democrats' sweeping voting-reform legislation, an indication of Republicans' all-out opposition to the measure.
"It's a vast federal takeover of all American elections. It’s a horrible bill," McConnell this past weekend to an NPR-affiliate station in home state Kentucky. "I’m going to do everything I can, and my colleagues are going to do everything we can to prevent it."
McConnell plans to speak the hearing being held by the Senate Rules Committee, according to the Associated Press. (Read more)

- Holy One, we stand in firm opposition to this tyrannical effort to destroy our Constitutional Republic through a federal takeover of our national elections. We rebuke the schemes of those opposed to American freedom, liberty and state's rights. Father, we pray that not only will Mitch McConnell stand firm and strong, but likewise, would you strengthen those Republicans who are unable to stand on their own feet. Moreover would you please defeat and destroy this bill S1 and also S5 too!

3. Pentagon's new anti-extremism chief supports radical leftist views, critics charge - Just The News
The Pentagon's point man for quashing extremism in the ranks has drawn scrutiny from critics who charge that the newly appointed official himself has expressed extremist views on American social issues.
The official, Bishop Garrison, recently became a senior advisor to Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin, heading up the Pentagon's "diversity and inclusion" efforts. Garrison last month also was placed in charge of Austin's freshly formed Countering Extremism Working Group [CEWG].
The effort as described in an April 9 memo skews heavily toward bureaucratic staples such as a steering committee, subcommittees, weekly meetings, studies, and monthly progress reviews. The group will report up a chain of command, through the Defense Department's Workforce Management Group to the Deputy Workforce Council. But, while the project on paper seems mired in the typical trappings of officialdom, observers have raised questions about what the group will do under Garrison. (Read more)

- Righteous One, this person has been given a tremendous amount of power to radicalize the military from the Pentagon forward. We ask You to stop this destruction of all that is good and right and just within our military ranks. 4. Pandemic unemployment benefits system is facilitating skyrocketing fraud, experts say - Just The News
Unemployment fraud continues to rise during the coronavirus pandemic, according to several state-level officials and experts on identity theft.
The experts said that the weekly federal unemployment aid that began in March of last year is a magnet for fraudsters domestic and foreign. President Biden's $1.9 trillion American Rescue Plan continues a $300 weekly added federal payment on top of state benefits through September.
The decision Congress made to allow independent contractors to collect jobless benefits for the first time "created a once in a lifetime opportunity for every scammer, fraudster and thief in the world, and they've jumped at the chance to take advantage of that opportunity," said Douglas Swetnam, section chief of the data privacy & identity theft unit in the Indiana attorney general's office. 5. Pumps run dry on day five of Colonial Pipeline cyber attack - Daily Mail
Gas stations from Florida to Virginia have closed their pumps and a state of emergency has been declared by the governor of North Carolina after Colonial Pipeline was forced to shut off the nation's biggest fuel pipeline when it was hacked.
The FBI has confirmed that DarkSide, a Russian hacking outfit made up of ransomware veterans, was responsible for the attack on Colonial Pipeline, which runs from Texas to New Jersey and transports 45 percent of the East Coast's fuel supply.
The 5,500 pipeline shut down five days ago and services are only gradually being restored now. Colonial, which is based in Atlanta, Georgia, has not yet said whether it has already paid or is negotiating a ransom with the hackers.
Colonial said it was working to 'substantially' resume operations by the end of this week but reports of gas shortages are already emerging up and down the East Coast as motorists were spotted lining up in Florida, North Carolina, Georgia and Virginia. (Read more)

Would you please lead and guide the Colonial Pipeline heads, as well as those in the government who are supposed to be mitigating this type of cyber-attack. 6. Concerns mount over Biden's new cybersecurity executive order following Colonial Pipeline hack - Washington Examiner
Senior government officials are privately sounding the alarm over a new cybersecurity executive order President Joe Biden is poised to sign.
Biden vowed in April to take steps toward securing U.S. cyber-infrastructure and preventing future security breaches like the 2020 SolarWinds hack. The New York Times reported Sunday night, however, that some officials and lawmakers involved in the drafting of the order have expressed concerns about its ability to prevent breaches like the ransomware attack that shuttered the Colonial Pipeline over the weekend.
According to a draft reviewed by the newspaper, the order standardizes basic cybersecurity practices, such as two-factor authentication, at all federal agencies and contracted software vendors. The order also imposes a zero-tolerance policy for vendors and would block those who do not comply from receiving federal contracts.(Read more)

- Lord, bring revelation and exposure to the perpetrators of this hack. May it cause Joe Biden to strengthen our nation's cyber-infrastructure as well as put teeth into real-time consequences for breaches and attacks. We pray for righteous men and women in the cyber-security industry who can anticipate threats and protect our nation, in Jesus name.

7. Biden lags behind Trump and Obama, with vacant ambassador posts around globe - Washington Examiner
President Joe Biden could strain relations with some longtime U.S. allies unless he begins nominating ambassadors at a more rapid clip.
The former Senate Foreign Relations Committee chairman campaigned, in part, on a desire to improve the country's standing on the world stage following four years of former President Donald Trump's "America first" foreign policy. Biden and other Democrats claimed the 45th president was too harsh on traditional allies and showed disinterest in filling America's traditional seat at the head of the Western table.
But Biden's ambassador nomination process has been hampered by internal State Department politics, experts say, leaving the president without important diplomats in capitals around the globe as he prepares for his first trip abroad, a European jaunt in June. (Read more)
- Father, we put our nation into Your righteous hands. Would you please attend to the global affairs where we have responsibility and need to be in a proper relationship. We commit Joe Biden and the situation of this administration to You and ask You to have Your way with them.

9. Healthy 17-year-old boy gets blood clots in brain after COVID vaccine - WND
A mother in Utah is warning parents about the possible dangers of COVID-19 vaccines after her 17-year-old, basketball-playing son got a shot and developed three blood clots in and near his brain.
The mother is Cherie Romney of Draper, Utah. "The hardest thing was I let him get that shot. And he was healthy and well before," she told the station. "But you question it, you can’t help but question it when it all goes wrong."
The report said that playing basketball could have aggravated the swelling caused by the vaccine. Everest Romney, 17, felt his neck swell the day after his COVID-19 Pfizer vaccine shot and he then experienced severe headaches, the report said. (Read more)

10. Israel retaliates following Hamas rocket attacks - Just The News
Hamas on Monday targeted Israel with rocket attacks, including some targeting the nation's capital city of Jerusalem, prompting a retaliatory response from the Jewish State in the Gaza Strip.
"The terrorist organizations in Gaza have crossed a red line and attacked us with missiles in the outskirts of Jerusalem," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said, according to the Associated Press. "Whoever attacks us will pay a heavy price,” Netanyahu declared, saying that the fighting could "continue for some time."
The outlet reported that by late Monday the Israeli military had executed airstrikes across the Gaza Strip which the military said had struck a Hamas tunnel, rocket launchers and multiple militants. (Read more)

Tik Toc The Prophetic Clock
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, May 11, 2021
God’s prophetic time piece, Israel, is a mess. Reeling from COVID, failure to form a government, and violence from terrorist-inspired “Palestinians,” Israel’s turmoil could be a sign that the prophecy clock is accelerated. Each year around this time, the “Palestinians” start attacking Israel, and then when Israel defends itself with superior force, the “Palestinians” cry that Israel is racist, that it is attacking the poor, underserved “Palestinian” community. The news media rarely mentions the billions of dollars that pours into the Palestinian Authority every year from various countries, and how that money funds terrorism against Israel. President Trump shut down America’s contribution. Joe Biden is reversing that policy.
Biden is opening up the American cash faucet once again for the Palestinians. Breitbart reports that the Biden Administration gave “the Palestinians commitments of hundreds of millions of US taxpayer dollars–likely in violation of the Taylor Force Act, which prevents US funding of the Palestinian Authority until it stops paying terrorists and their families. Biden did not seek any concessions from the Palestinians in return for that funding–no new negotiations with Israel, no end to inciting hatred. Now the Biden administration is rewarding the Palestinians for the violence by calling on Israel to stop the clashes–as if Israel wanted any of this to happen.” Read More

THIS IS WHAT THEY TRIED TO WARN US ABOUT RIGHT BEFORE THEY DIED
By Mario Murillo Ministries

Every Christian in America is at a fork in the road. They will either cave in fear and denial or rise into a reformation of the Holy Spirit. Anxiety and dread are rampant as the chaos of the election deepens. Many believe we are under judgment and yearn for guidance. 5 famous preachers foresaw this moment in vivid detail and God gave them these instructions for us. “Believe God’s prophets and so shall you prosper.” (2 Chronicles 20:20)
SUMMARY Oral Roberts was warning us about people who go to church only for themselves, and of preachers who care nothing about reaching the world for Christ. How can we deny that this is true? We have reached the point where so many Christians are unteachable and Pastors are oblivious to the Great Commission.
David Wilkerson was trying to teach us that as God’s remnant in a storm of deception, violence, and persecution, we can be safe. We can even thrive. Steve Hill placed a great deal of emphasis on the massive amount of false teaching that would rob the church of her preparation, blind her to the right choices she should make, and leave her vulnerable so that she is destroyed along with the world. But he also provided the hope that repentance and true submission to God would provide a shelter from the storm.
Kenneth Hagin was warning us that America had a final call. I believe we are at that call right now. He saw buildings burning and cities inundated by the judgment of God. However, he also offered great hope that the people of God would do even greater things than the apostles did in the Book of Acts.
Smith Wigglesworth emphasized the need for purifying, holiness, and separation in the church. He urged us to wake up, ask for the mighty power of God, and then nothing would be impossible to us. Now, listen with all of your heart, with all of your might, and with zero distractions. This storm will damage every compromised carnal Christian. Jesus told us that the foolish man who built his house on the sand was someone who had heard the words of Christ but would not do them. And the house fell, and great was its fall. That is the key right now. All of these warnings are for Christians.
So what do we do to prepare for this storm? What steps do we take to obey the words of warning that come to us first from the Bible, and then from God’s prophets? Distilling the common threads that run through these five men’s prophecies, I found these steps:
1. Stop following preachers that are weakening you, using you, and deny that there is a storm coming. Get out of the churches that look like nightclubs.
2. Press into God. The common thread that runs through the messages of these five prophets is a call to intimacy with God.
Those who choose to press into God will embody a faith that cannot be shaken by any threat or headline.
3. Enter the era of ‘extravagant asking.’ Wigglesworth’s reference to ‘extravagant asking’ is a key to the final revival in the history of the world. He quoted Jesus, Who said “Hitherto, you have asked nothing, ask what you will and My Father will give it to you, that your joy may be full.” All five of these prophets hold out a hope for America. They are trying to sober us up so that we can ask God to spare our nation. We do not have to have fires, riots, and God’s judgment upon America, even though they are well deserved.
4. Finally: Truly God’s word is this, “I set before you life and death.” You can walk away from this message and continue the denial that pervades the church, but I promise you, this storm is coming. You can choose life−not just any life−but the greatest life that God has offered any generation!

On Monday, May 10th, the sun swallowed a comet. SOHO coronagraphs spotted the dirty snowball making a headlong plunge into our star. One comet went in; none came out:
The comet was a member of the Kreutz family. Kreutz sungrazers are fragments from the breakup of a single giant comet many centuries ago. They get their name from 19th century German astronomer Heinrich Kreutz, who studied them. Every day, several Kreutz fragments pass by the sun and disintegrate. Most, measuring less than a few meters across, are too small to see, but occasionally a bigger fragment like this one (~10 to 30 meters wide) attracts attention.
The dusty remains of this comet have mostly disintegrated into individual atoms, and are now being blown back into the Solar System by the solar wind. R.I.P., sungrazer. (Spaceweather.com) Read more.

Transformation trends: from terrorists to Bible translators
|
|
Middle East/North Africa (MNN) — Ramadan, the Islamic holy month of prayer and fasting, began in mid-April and ends on May 12. God often moves powerfully during Ramadan to reach Muslims for Christ. That’s one reason why church leaders across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) are working hard to get Scripture in their language. “The Church is exploding in this region of the world; people are coming to Christ,” unfoldingWord CEO David Reeves says,
“Many key leaders were former terrorists. You’ve got leaders that come to Jesus, love Jesus now, [and] they’re doing Bible translation.”
With tools and resources from unfoldingWord, these believers can do church-centric Bible translation. A new unfoldingWord project equips church networks in 19 MENA countries, from the farthest corner of North Africa to the Middle East.
“These church networks are trying to translate the Bible in their language. They’re going to struggle if all they have available to them are English resources,” Reeves explains.
“We put the tools [and] resources in Modern Standard Arabic.” (Read More)

Jesus Loves the Little Children
To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE
Words: C. Herbert Woolston
Music: George Root
Scripture: Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these. Matthew 19:14
Jesus calls the children dear,
Come to Me and never fear,
For I love the little children of the world;
I will take you by the hand,
Lead you to the better land,
For I love the little children of the world.
Refrain:
Jesus loves the little children,
All the children of the world.
Red and yellow, black and white,
All are precious in His sight,
Jesus loves the little children of the world.
Jesus is the Shepherd true,
And He’ll always stand by you,
For He loves the little children of the world;
He’s a Savior great and strong,
And He’ll shield you from the wrong,
For He loves the little children of the world.
Refrain
I am coming, Lord, to Thee,
And Your soldier I will be,
For You love the little children of the world;
And Your cross I’ll always bear,
And for You I’ll do and dare,
For You love the little children of the world.

About Capitol Hill Prayer Partners
|
|
|
Our Mission Statement
Capitol Hill Prayer Partners (CHPP) is a ministry which is positioned on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., helping members of the Body of Christ to "pray for those in authority over us" in our federal government. Our primary purpose is to offer intercession on site for the members of Congress and their staffs each day that the Senate and the House of Representatives are in session; and our chief prayer focus is that "God's will be done in earth, as it is in heaven." [Matthew 6:10].
Because Jesus Christ has shed His blood for all, we, too, pray for ALL, in a nonpartisan manner. Also, because the scriptures indicate that "the effectual, fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much" (James 4:17), we are confident that fervent prayer, offered in the halls of the highest chambers of government in our land, can avail much for America. Capitol Hill Prayer Partners welcomes those who feel called to join us, engaging in this strategic work of intercession for our nation: "For there is no power but of God; the powers that be are ordained of God." [Romans 13:1]
