Supreme Court blocks a California ban on indoor church services

The U.S. Supreme Court handed California churches a victory Friday, granting injunctive relief to a group that had sued over coronavirus lockdown rules that banned indoor services. The churches will be allowed to hold indoor services as they await a decision on their appeal in the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, which is hearing their case but had denied a motion to suspend the ban during it.

The 6-3 decision came with the Court's liberal justices in dissent.

"The Ninth Circuit’s failure to grant relief was erroneous," the Supreme Court’s order reads. "This outcome is clearly dictated by this Court’s decision in South Bay United Pentecostal Church v. Newsom."

The churches sued Santa Clara County earlier this month after the county continued to ban indoor services despite an earlier Supreme Court ruling that Gov. Gavin Newsom’s complete ban violated the First Amendment, according to the Bay Area's Mercury News.

The county argued that its ban was allowed because it did not single out religious gatherings. But the Supreme Court’s order will prevent the county from enforcing the ban until the 9th Circuit case concludes. (Christian Post) Read more.

1. Gantz says Israel moving to protect citizens from ICC - Jerusalem Post

Defense Minister and Acting Justice Minister Benny Gantz alarmed government officials on Tuesday when he told Reuters Israel estimates that hundreds of its citizens might be subject – in the near future – to war crimes probes by the International Criminal Court.

Gantz, who took over the Justice Ministry when the Knesset dissolved in late December, told Reuters that Israel is hard at work protecting those Israelis.
Including himself among those who could be threatened with arrest, Gantz said: “I was never afraid to go across enemy lines. I will continue to stand wherever I have to.”

In an interview near Israel’s border with Gaza, Gantz called the ruling a “negative development” and added: “We have our own teams working in different (places) to try (and) influence (the ICC.” (Read more)

2. Israeli Military Officials Warn Biden Against Rejoining Iran Nuke Deal - Washington Free Beacon

A group of nearly 2,000 Israeli generals, military officials, and Mossad operatives warned the Biden administration on Monday against rejoining the Iran nuclear deal, saying the effort "represents an existential threat to the Jewish State" and will "ignite a massive nuclear arms race" across Middle East.

The high-ranking military officials, organized as part of an Israeli coalition known as Habithonistim, outlined their concerns in a letter sent Monday to President Joe Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. It was signed by 24 Israeli generals and comes as the administration pursues direct talks with Iran as part of an effort to secure a revamped nuclear agreement in an attempt to stop Iran's march toward a nuclear weapon. The Israeli officials maintain this effort will "push Israel and her Sunni allies into a dangerous corner and potentially ignite a massive nuclear arms race."

"When it comes to the Iranian nuclear threat there is almost total unanimous agreement among Israel's military top brass," retired Brigadier Gen. Amir Avivi, the director of Habithonistim, told the Washington Free Beacon. "This is not about politics, it's about the very survival of the Jewish State." (Read more)

3. Israel in talks with Saudi, UAE, Bahrain for defense alliance against Iran - Jerusalem Post
Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have discussed expanding cooperation in facing common enemies, an Israeli official familiar with the matter said Monday.

The matter is being “informally discussed,” the source said, adding that the countries are US allies. All four believe a nuclear Iran would be a major threat and have been eyeing the Biden administration’s plan to rejoin the 2015 nuclear deal with concern.

“There is much to be gained by expanding cooperation,” the source said. The remarks came following an article by World Jewish Congress president Ron Lauder in Arab News calling for a “NATO of the Middle East.”

Saudi Arabia does not have a free press, and Arab News, an English-language daily newspaper published in Saudi Arabia, is owned by Prince Turki bin Salman Al Saud, a son of King Salman and brother of Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman, and is seen as reflecting the Saudi government’s official views. 4. Gantz: Iran attempting to strengthen its position ahead of nuclear talks - Israel National News

Defense Minister Benny Gantz visited the Gaza Division today (Tuesday) together with Deputy Chief of Staff Major General Eyal Zamir, Commander of the Southern Command General Herzli Halevi, Commander of the Gaza Division Brigadier General Nimrod Aloni and other senior officials.

At the end of the tour, Minister Ganz said, "I am ending a tour of the Gaza Strip. Despite the relative calm, the terrorist organizations are trying to strengthen themselves and we are also preparing for the summer months. The State of Israel is working resolutely against Hamas and Islamic Jihad all the time."

"Gaza also has an opportunity," the defense minister added. "If, instead of developing rockets, Hamas returned the Israeli prisoners and missing persons, we could expand trade and the economy and change the way of life of the residents of the Gaza Strip. Ultimately, the civilians who live there serve as tools in the hands of the terrorist organizations." (Read more)

5. High Court recognizes non-Orthodox converts as Jewish - YNET News
After more than 15 years of petitioning, and just three weeks ahead of the March 23 election, The High Court of Justice ruled on Monday that those who have converted to Judaism through Reform or Conservative conversions in Israel will be recognized as Jewish by the state.

The court also ruled converts will be allowed to become full Israeli citizens under the Law of Return.

In their long-awaited ruling, the nine-justice panel said the court expected lawmakers would pursue legislation on the matter and stalled its decision.

"We have refrained from ruling on the matter for the last five years out of respect for the responder [the state] to pursue legislation to settle the issue," said Justice Dafna Barak Erez. "However, we cannot wait while people's rights are hanging in the balance and no viable legislation is afoot."

Chief Justice Esther Hayut wrote, "The petitioners came to Israel and went through a conversion process as part of a recognized Jewish community and asked to join the Jewish nation." Hayut added, "This is a civil matter and not a religious matter." (Read more)

1. Biden’s Trade Pick Describes Chinese Regime as Both Rival and Partner – The Epoch Times

President Joe Biden’s nominee for U.S. Trade Representative, Katherine Tai, on Feb. 25 pledged to work with allies to hold the Chinese regime accountable for its unfair trade practices.

In remarks at her confirmation hearing in the Senate Finance Committee, Tai described the Chinese regime as “as simultaneously a rival, a trade partner, and an outsized player whose cooperation we’ll also need to address certain global challenges.”

“We must remember how to walk, chew gum, and play chess at the same time,” she added.

Tai, who grew up in Taiwan and is a fluent Mandarin speaker, is the top trade lawyer for the House of Representatives Ways and Means Committee. She also previously served several years as head of China enforcement at the trade representative’s office.

“I know firsthand how critically important it is that we have a strategic and coherent plan for holding China accountable to its promises and effectively competing with its model of state-directed economics,” she said. (Read more)

2. Biden’s Press Sec Jen Psaki Says There's No Plan for Biden to Hold a Press Conference Even Though He's Been in Office a Month - Western Journal

Throughout his campaign, President Joe Biden spent as little time in the public view as possible for a presidential candidate. Over a month into his tenure as president, he is continuing the same strategy.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki was asked Monday if Biden would hold his first solo news conference soon, and she said no plans have been made for the event. Biden’s Press Secretary Jen Psaki says that are still no plans for Biden to hold a press conference after over a month of being in office.

It is rather concerning that the leader of the free world seems to have no interest in formally addressing the American public. It is also a stark contrast to his predecessor. Is President Biden's team shielding him from a news conference? (Read more)

3. Biden State Dept Lead Says She SUPPORTS Chinese Propaganda In US Schools. - The National Pulse

President Biden’s pick for Undersecretary of State for Political Affairs defended Chinese Communist Party-funded Confucius Institutes.

Confucius Institutes, which are hosted at American universities, have been described by Chinese government officials as “an important part of China’s overseas propaganda set-up.”
Notoriously rife with propaganda, intellectual property theft, and espionage per the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and Department of Justice (DOJ), Confucius Institutes count support from Victoria Nuland.

Nuland, an Obama administration State Department alum nominated to join the Biden White House, outlined her support for the effort at a 2012 press conference.

A reporter inquired with Nuland if the Obama administration was concerned about “the Confucius Institute’s expansion in the U.S. as the strongest Chinese soft power?”
“No,” Nuland responded. “This [Confucius Institute] is something that we support. It’s part of the people-to-people understanding.”

Nuland is also a Senior Counselor at Albright Stonebridge Group, a consulting firm that works extensively with China and employs Chinese Communist Party officials. (Read more)

4. BREAKING: Governor Andrew Cuomo Releases Statement Apologizing For Behavior Following Sexual Harassment Allegations – Daily Wire

New York Democratic Governor Andrew Cuomo released a statement on Sunday afternoon apologizing for his behavior that has led to at least two women coming forward and claiming that he sexually harassed them while they worked in his administration.

“Questions have been raised about some of my past interactions with people in the office,” the statement began. “I never intended to offend anyone or cause any harm. I spend most of my life at work, and colleagues are often also personal friends. At work sometimes I think I am being playful and make jokes that I think are funny. I do, on occasion, tease people in what I think is a good natured way. I do it in public and in private. You have seen me do it at briefings hundreds of times. I have teased people about their personal lives, their relationships, about getting married or not getting married.”

“I mean no offense and only attempt to add some levity and banter to what is a very serious business,” Cuomo continued. “I now understand that my interactions may have been insensitive or too personal and that some of my comments, given my position, made others feel in ways I never intended. I acknowledge some of the things I have said have been misinterpreted as an unwanted flirtation. To the extent anyone felt that way, I am truly sorry about that.”

“To be clear I never inappropriately touched anybody and I never propositioned anybody and I never intended to make anyone feel uncomfortable, but these are allegations that New Yorkers deserve answers to,” the statement concluded. “That’s why I have asked for an outside, independent review that looks at these allegations. Separately, my office has heard anecdotally that some people have reached out to Ms. Bennett to express displeasure about her coming forward. My message to anyone doing that is you have misjudged what matters to me and my administration and you should stop now – period.”

5. Trump’s Tax Returns Obtained by Manhattan District Attorney: Spokesman – The Epoch Times

Manhattan’s District Attorney Cy Vance has obtained former President Donald Trump’s long-sought tax returns, coming days after the Supreme Court ruled that it would not block them from being released to his office.

A spokesman for Vance’s office, Danny Frost, on Thursday confirmed the development to several news outlets. A subpoena was enforced against Mazars USA, Trump’s accounting firm.

The Supreme Court wrote a one-sentence order saying it would not block the subpoena without explanation.

Before Monday, the Supreme Court previously refused to stop lower court rulings and sided with Vance. In July, Chief Justice John Roberts wrote an opinion for a 7-2 ruling that rejected Trump’s argument that he was immune to state-level investigations while he was in office. (Read more)

6. Justice of the Peace, 3 Others Arrested on 150 Counts of Voter Fraud in Texas - Western Journalism

Alleged voter fraud is being exposed in southern Texas. Four people were arrested on Feb. 11 after being indicted by a Bandera County Grand Jury for multiple counts of voter fraud-related crimes, according to WOAI-TV.

Among those arrested was Medina County Justice of the Peace Tomas Ramirez, who is facing one count each of organized election fraud and unlawfully assisting voter voting ballot by mail (i.e illegally helping voters who cast their ballots by mail) and 17 counts of unlawful possession of a ballot or ballot envelope.

Mary Balderrama, Leonor Rivas Garza and Eva Ann Martinez were arrested alongside Ramirez. WOAI reported their charges.
Balderrama faces one count each of organized election fraud and fraudulent mail ballot application, nine counts of illegal voting, eight counts of election fraud, and two counts each of unlawful possession of ballot or ballot envelope, unlawfully assisting voter voting by mail and tampering with government record. - Dear Father, we are glad that some reports of voter fraud are being taken seriously. We pray that more and more cases will be investigated and prosecuted where warranted so that our election process will be clean in Your eyes and fair to all voters. Lord, please continue Your process of exposure of sin in even the smallest of election contests so that evil is put on notice.

7. Texas becomes biggest US state to lift COVID-19 mask mandate - AP News

Texas is lifting its mask mandate, Gov. Greg Abbott said Tuesday, making it the largest state to end an order intended to prevent the spread of the coronavirus that has killed more than 42,000 Texans.

The Republican governor has faced sharp criticism from his party over the mandate, which was imposed eight months ago, as well as other COVID-19 restrictions on businesses that Texas will also scuttle starting next week. The mask order was only ever lightly enforced, even during the worst outbreaks of the pandemic.

The repealed rules include doing away with limits on the number of diners or customers allowed indoors, said Abbott, who made the announcement at a restaurant in Lubbock. He said the new rules would take effect March 10, although leaders in Houston and other big Texas cities were already reacting with alarm. (Read more)

8. Elizabeth Warren Introduces Wealth Tax to Bolster Biden’s ‘Build Back Better’ Agenda - Brietbart

Warren’s most recent proposal would impose a two percent tax on the net value of all taxable assets over $50 million after debts are subtracted. The tax is increased to three percent for net assets above $1 billion.

Warren announced on Twitter Monday:
Billionaire wealth is 40% higher now than when the COVID crisis began – but our tax system is still tilted toward the ultra-rich. Today @RepJayapal, @CongBoyle and I are introducing our #WealthTax bill to make the wealthiest Americans pay their fair share.

9. NORTH KOREA HACKERS WANT PFIZER COVID-19 VACCINE FOR BOOTLEG SALES – SOFREP

North Korean hackers attempted to breach the servers of the U.S.-based vaccine manufacturer Pfizer, and its German partner BioNTech, in hopes of gathering scientific data that could be used to manufacture bootleg copies of a COVID-19 vaccine to sell on international black markets, according to intelligence officials in Europe.

North Korea’s intent was likely to raise funds in foreign currency. The hermit dictatorship’s domestic currency is mostly worthless outside its borders.

Two European security officials briefed on cyber-operations told Insider the attempted intrusion was likely an official North Korean operation to gather scientific data on Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine, one of just three vaccines so far approved for emergency use by the World Health Organization. Both officials said the attempt was connected to November’s announcement of multiple hacking intrusions via Microsoft network infrastructure.

“It clearly was an information-gathering attempt rather than a malware– or ransom-style attack. I will not get into technical details but we have developed plenty of experience with each type of attack,” said a European official, who would not be named because of the extreme sensitivity of the situation.

“North Korea will have physical access to Pfizer vaccines long after they’ve seen Chinese or Russian versions. But they want to decide which will be the easiest to bootleg and transport for the black market,” said the official, pointing out that both Russia and China have promised millions of doses to North Korea for free, despite the country’s claim it has never had a case of COVID. 10. Twitter Will Enforce a ‘Strike System’ Against Coronavirus Vaccine ‘Misinformation’ - Brietbart

Repeated violations of the policies could lead to Twitter locking or permanently suspending accounts. The new labels are similar to Facebook’s anti-misinformation banners which were launched as part of Facebook’s attempts to curb what it considers coronavirus misinformation last December.

Twitter made the announcement in a blog post on Monday, titled, “Updates to our work on COVID-19 vaccine misinformation.”

“We are also introducing a strike system that determines when further enforcement action is necessary. We believe the strike system will help to educate the public on our policies and further reduce the spread of potentially harmful and misleading information on Twitter, particularly for repeated moderate and high-severity violations of our rules,” Twitter wrote. Herd immunity needed

There is a far more deadly virus than COVID that threatens the very way of life of every American. It is infecting the country in many forms. Censorship, hostility toward Christianity, government spending, invasion of your privacy, controlling your movement—it’s lethal to freedom. It’s called socialism. This socialism coinfection is spreading faster than COVID 19 itself, and it is a threat your every liberty, including your freedom to worship. There are two bills making their way through Congress that represent this virus—the $1.9 trillion COVID relief bill that mortgages your future to redistribute wealth and to buy power, and the Equality Act that will attempt to abolish Constitutionally guaranteed religious freedom.

The Communist Manifesto states: “…Communism abolishes eternal truths, it abolishes all religion, and all morality, instead of constituting them on a new basis.” This is the basis for all socialism and progressivism as well. It is godless and evil. The Bible tells us 2 Timothy 3:13, “Evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving and being deceived.” Ephesians 5:6 tells us “Let no man deceive you with vain words.” There is great deception in the vain words of socialists and communists. They ply the nature of humans with powerful words like “rights” and “equality” when, in reality, they wish to kill, steal and destroy. Is this not what is happening in our country today?

An example is the exchange between Congressmen Greg Steube (R-FL) and Jerry Nadler (D-NY) on the floor of the House of Representatives February 25. In debating the Democrat’s Equality Act, Steube quoted the Bible and warned that “the gender confusion that exists in our culture today is a clear rejection of God’s good design,” saying “whenever a nation’s laws no longer reflect the standards of God, that nation is in rebellion against him and will inevitably bear the consequences.” To which Nadler interrupted and emphatically stated, “Mr. Steube, what any religious tradition describes as God’s will is no concern of this Congress.” Indeed, this statement reflecting the Democratic Party platform and most of its adherents is indicative of their assault on the US Constitution as they embrace the Communist Manifesto.

Americans have elected a majority of officeholders at the national level who are infected with the deadly virus of socialism. These officeholders, however, are molded in the image of those who voted for them. This Congress is passing laws to take your money and give it to those who didn’t work for it. This Congress is passing laws that specifically outlaws religious exemptions. This Congress is passing laws that label you a bigot if you believe in the God-ordained union of man and woman. Your Constitutional rights are being killed by the carriers of the deadly virus of socialism. Christ said in Mark 12:17, “Render to Caesar the things that are Caesar’s, and to God the things that are God’s.” To some, God is government. It is their religion. It is an all-consuming virus and the only antidote is the one true God. Herd immunity needed.

Supreme Court Rejects Sydney Powell’s Case Without Comment

The Supreme Court rejected two mandamus petitions that Sidney Powell and other “Kraken”-aligned lawyers filed in late December. Those cases were stylized as In re Tyler Bowyer, et al. and In Re William Feehan. The cases took issue with the election results in Arizona and Wisconsin, where Trump lost to Joe Biden.

The matter-of-factness and brevity stands in stark contrast to the urgency and “public importance” that the lawyers communicated in the since-dismissed petitions.

“A submission directly to this Court seeking an extraordinary writ of mandamus is unusual, but it has its foundation. While such relief is rare, this Court will grant it ‘where a question of public importance is involved, or where the question is of such a nature that it is peculiarly appropriate that such action by this Court should be taken,’” each of the mandamus petitions said.

According to the Maritime Executive, the MV Arvin, a 46-year-old Turkish freighter en route from the country of Georgia to Bulgaria, sought shelter from a powerful storm at the Bartin, Turkey, anchorage on Jan. 15.

As bad weather continued on Jan. 17, heavy waves snapped the Arvin’s hull in half, causing the ship to sink.

Of the 12 crew members — two Russian nationals and 10 Ukrainians — half were recovered alive by the Turkish Coast Guard, while, tragically, the other half were either recovered deceased or are still missing.

Mother Nature is a cruel provider, and the men and women who make great sacrifices on a daily basis deserve honor and praise.

Florida Toddler Saves Father's Life by Accidentally Dialing 911

Police in Florida believe a toddler who accidentally dialed 911 saved his father’s life on Tuesday.

Hernando County Sheriff’s deputy Nathan Kent was dispatched to an apartment complex in Spring Hill, Florida, just before 11 a.m. after a 911 call came in, WTOG-TV reported. “[Dispatchers] could hear a kid playing on the phone, so we thought it was another accidental 911 hang-up,” Kent said. “The 911 hang-up calls are very common for us. We get quite a few of them due to people having disabled cellphones and their kids play with them.”

When Kent got to the apartment complex, he was surprised to find a toddler wandering around the parking lot with no clothes on and without supervision. “Having a kid myself, I was more concerned, ‘Hey, why is there an unsupervised kid,’ and then that’s when I started looking around and I saw the apartment complex door open with a bunch of kid toys,” the deputy said.

The child walked with the deputy to the apartment, where the door was open. Kent announced his presence but did not receive a response, according to a news release.

“Upon entering the apartment Deputy Kent located an unconscious adult male on the floor not breathing and without a pulse,” the sheriff’s office said. “When the man was unresponsive to a sternum rub, Deputy Kent began performing chest compressions. Following several rounds of chest compressions, the man gasped for air and began breathing.”

Paramedics arrived on the scene and continued the man’s medical care. Hospital staff members told the the man he was having “a medical episode” but was expected make a full recovery, the release said.

The child’s family was contacted and took custody of the child.
