Title Arrest of Former Top Aide to NY Governor Illustrates Deepening Level of China's Infiltration, Says Expert
|
|
On Tuesday, a former top aide of New York Governor Kathy Hochul (D) along with her husband were arrested for working as government agents for China in exchange for millions of dollars in bribe money. Experts say the arrest is the latest example of the Chinese Communist Party’s (CCP) extensive effort to infiltrate the upper echelons of the U.S. government.
Linda Sun, who served as deputy chief of staff for Hochul before being fired for misconduct last year, was charged with working to “further the interests of the Chinese government and the CCP,” which involved her husband Christopher Hu engaging in money laundering from millions of dollars in bribes from the Chinese government.
Sun was able to hide her espionage efforts from Democratic administrations in New York for years, having first been hired in 2012 by former Governor Andrew Cuomo’s office. The indictment details how Sun extensively collaborated with the Chinese consulate general in New York, as well as the United Front Work Department, the CCP’s political-influence bureau. Read more

Biden-Harris Economy Funnels Over a Million Foreign Workers into US Jobs in One Year as Americans Fall out of Workforce

President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have funneled over a million foreign workers into United States jobs while native-born Americans continue to fall out of the workforce.
The latest Bureau of Labor Statistics report for August reveals the extent to which Biden and Harris’s mass migration agenda has significantly impacted the nation’s labor market — tilting it in favor of newly arrived migrants released into the United States interior from the southern border.
Over the last year, the report states, about 1.24 million foreign workers have secured jobs, while during the same period, 1.32 million fewer native-born Americans now hold U.S. jobs. Read more

Feds Raid Homes of Top Eric Adams Deputies, Seize Police Commissioner's Phones
|

Federal authorities have raided the homes of some of the highest-ranking members of Mayor Eric Adams’ administration, including two deputy mayors and the schools chancellor, and seized the electronic devices of New York City’s police commissioner, sources familiar with the situation told THE CITY.
This extraordinary effort in the last two days to obtain evidence from some of the highest-ranking members of Adams’ team — all of whom have longtime and close ties to the mayor — follows other federal raids and seizures that have swept up the mayor and other top aides in what appears to be a broadening investigation of City Hall.
On Wednesday agents showed up around 5 a.m. at the Hamilton Heights townhouse of Wright, who also happens to be the fiancé of Chancellor Banks. The chancellor was seen by THE CITY entering and leaving the townhouse twice on Thursday. Asked about the raid, David Banks declined to comment, saying, “Today is the first day of school, and I am thrilled,” he said, jumping into a SUV to head to a scheduled appearance at a school in Queens.
At the same time agents raided Wright’s townhouse, they simultaneously descended upon Deputy Mayor Philip Banks III’s brick and clapboard single family in Hollis, the sources said. A neighbor of Phil Banks’ home told THE CITY they woke up to a disturbance Wednesday morning and about 15 agents were on the street. Read more

1. Barrage of over 50 rockets fired towards the north, IDF strikes Hezbollah targets - Israel National News
Sirens were sounded in Kiryat Shmona and other communities in northern Israel overnight Saturday. The IDF said that at least 50 rockets were fired from Lebanon towards the area.
“Following the sirens that sounded at 00:57 and between 2:34 to 2:39 in the area of Kiryat Shmona, approximately 20 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon. The IDF Aerial Defense Array successfully intercepted most of the projectiles. Fallen projectiles were identified in the area. No injuries were reported,” the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said in a statement.
“Following the sirens that sounded at 5:35 in the upper Galilee, approximately 30 projectiles were identified crossing from Lebanon. The IDF Aerial Defense Array successfully intercepted several projectiles and the rest fell in open areas. No injuries were reported,” it stated. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu vows to secure Jordanian border to prevent arms smuggling from Iran - World Israel News
Following a terror attack on the Israel-Jordan border on Sunday that claimed the lives of three people, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declared that he was including funds in the 2025 budget to secure the Jordanian border.
At a Security Council meeting on Sunday, Netanyahu said sealing the border was essential to prevent arms smuggling from Iran into Judea and Samaria.
“Iran is also operating on the eastern front to smuggle arms to terrorists in (Judea and Samaria),” Netanyahu said at the cabinet meeting.
“We resolve to strengthen our capabilities in this area and take various other steps — including constructing a barrier to prevent weapons smuggling. This will be addressed immediately in the 2025 budget,” he continued. (Read more)

3. Jordanian terrorist kills three Israelis at Allenby crossing - JNS
Three security guards at the Allenby Bridge crossing in the Jordan Valley were killed in a terrorist shooting on Sunday morning.
The gunman, who according to the IDF was a Jordanian citizen, was killed, and Israeli forces were conducting scans of the area to ensure there were no more terrorists in the area.
Magen David Adom emergency service spokesperson Zaki Heller said that “after resuscitation operations, MDA medics and paramedics in cooperation with the IDF medical force pronounced the deaths of three men about 50 years old with gunshot wounds to their bodies.” (Read more)

1. Walz administration settles left-wing group’s trans inmate lawsuit, costing Minnesota taxpayers nearly $500K- Fox
Nearly $500,000 in taxpayer money was paid by Gov. Tim Walz's administration in what effectively was a "sue and settlement" scheme by a left-wing interest group representing a transgender prison inmate, a new watchdog report concludes.
According to public records reviewed by the taxpayer watchdog group OpenTheBooks.com and first shared with the New York Post, Walz's office allocated nearly $200,000 to Gender Justice, a progressive legal nonprofit focused on "gender equity," one year after the organization filed a sex discrimination complaint against the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC).
The complaint alleged the DOC discriminated against a biological male inmate known as Christina Lusk for not placing her in a women's prison and rejecting requests for sex-change surgeries.
Prior to an arrest in December 2018 after being charged with possession of meth and sentenced to a five-year term, Lusk underwent hormone therapy and sought "bottom surgery" to remove her male genitalia.
As of Jan. 31, Lusk was released from state custody and placed under supervision. The settlement reached in this case involved a total of $495,000 distributed among three parties. Lusk received $245,903.72, Gender Justice was allocated $198,000 and Robins Kaplan LLP received $51,096.28 for legal fees. Read more

Former Housing and Urban Development Secretary Dr. Ben Carson announced that he was “honored to serve as the national faith chairman” for former President Donald Trump and his campaign.
In a post on X, Carson praised Trump for having been a “staunch supporter of the faith community” and added that he would “be again” after he is elected president in November. Carson’s statement came in response to Trump announcing that Carson would serve as the National Faith Chairman for the Trump campaign and reach out to evangelicals “to promote the protection of religious freedom.”

3. Report: Mandatory ‘Climate Change’ Curriculum Begins in California Schools – Breitbart
California public schools are set to begin a mandatory curriculum about climate change, reportedly designed to indoctrinate children in the state, as a law signed by Gov. Gavin Newsom last year, AB 285, takes effect.
The Federalist reported on AB 285:
Science classes for students in California will feature new additions to the curriculum this year designed to indoctrinate students on climate change through the apocalyptic lens of far-left activists.
Last fall, California lawmakers passed Assembly Bill 285 to mandate all science classes for grades 1 through 12 “include an emphasis on the causes and effects of climate change and methods to mitigate and adapt to climate change.”
The bombardment of doomsday climate commentary has meanwhile contributed to widespread environmental anxiety among children. In December 2021, The Lancet published a study from a team of nine researchers, including psychologists, environmental scientists, and psychiatrists, who surveyed 10,000 people aged 16 to 25 across 10 countries about their “climate anxiety” and their governments’ responses to environmental issues. Seventy-five percent reported feeling the “future is frightening,” and 83 percent said humanity “failed to take care of the planet.” The study also reported that nearly half said their “feelings about climate change negatively affected their daily life and functioning.”

4. Alan Dershowitz leaves Democratic Party, cites DNC: 'I was disgusted'- Fox
Prominent attorney Alan Dershowitz announced his departure from the Democratic Party, citing several "anti-Jewish" lawmakers that make up the ranks of the party and the recent Democratic National Convention in which Vice President Kamala Harris became the party's presidential nominee.
Speaking with radio host Zev Brenner on "Talkline with Zev Brenner," Dershowitz cited the DNC, which he said gave legitimacy to anti-Israel speakers, and anti-Israel protesters outside the gathering.
"It was the most anti-Jewish, anti-Israel, anti-Zionist convention I've experienced," he said. "I was disgusted at the Democratic National Convention. Absolutely disgusted." Read more

5. Harris Campaign, Liberal Media Outlets Push False Claim About JD Vance Calling School Shootings ‘Fact Of Life’ - Daily Caller
Vice President Kamala Harris’ campaign and some liberal media outlets pushed a false claim on Thursday night indicating that Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance referred to school shootings as a “fact of life.”
Harris’ campaign released a statement falsely accusing Vance of saying school shootings are simply a “fact of life” during a Thursday night rally. While at the podium, Vance called on schools to ramp up security since it is a “fact of life” that school buildings are an easy target for shooters.
“What’s really going to solve this problem, and look, I don’t like this, I don’t like to admit this,” Vance said. “I don’t like that this is a fact of life. But if you are a psycho, and you want to make headlines, you realize that our schools are soft targets. And you pull your security at our schools so that a person who walks through the front door … we got to bolster security so that if a psycho wants to walk through the front door and kill a bunch of children, they’re not able to.”
The Harris’ campaign’s official X account, Kamala HQ, accused Vance of “attacking common sense gun safety reform” and ignoring the tragedy of school shootings.

6. Pakistani National Arrested In Canada For Allegedly Plotting Terror Attack In NYC – Daily Wire
An Islamic man from Pakistan was arrested in Canada this week for allegedly planning a terrorist attack against Jews in New York City.
The U.S. Department of Justice said late on Friday that Muhammad Shahzeb Khan, 20, was charged with attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, a designated foreign terrorist organization (FTO).
Khan “attempted to travel from Canada to New York City, where he intended to use automatic and semi-automatic weapons to carry out a mass shooting in support of ISIS at a Jewish center in Brooklyn, New York,” prosecutors said.
He began posting on social media and on an encrypted messaging platform late last year that he supported ISIS and began distributing their propaganda, the DOJ said.
He allegedly told undercover law enforcement sources that he was working with a U.S.-based ISIS terrorist to carry out the attack and that he was trying to create an “offline cell” of ISIS terrorists who could launch a coordinated attack killing Jews at synagogues. Read more

Biden Navy Secretary Warned Sailors Against Partisan Activity Before Being Cited For Endorsing Biden

Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro warned Navy personnel against engaging in political activity just a day before he was found to have violated federal law by voicing his support for President Joe Biden over other potential candidates, The Daily Wire has learned.
Del Toro’s support of Biden was found to have “crossed a legal line” in violation of the Hatch Act, a federal law that bars federal employees from engaging in political activities while participating in work duties, during a taxpayer-funded trip to the United Kingdom in January, the Office of the Special Counsel said this week.
Just one day before it was revealed that Del Toro violated the law, he sent out an unclassified document to Navy personnel, personally warning them against engaging in political activity. The guidance sent out to Navy sailors, obtained by The Daily Wire, is titled “Guidance on Political Activities of DON Personnel,” and includes a warning to personnel from Del Toro himself.
“Now that the 2024 election season is upon us, it is more important than ever for us to remember that the DON is an apolitical body and our members cannot participate in activities that could appear to imply sponsorship, approval, or endorsement of a political candidate, campaign, or cause,” a quote from Del Toro reads. “Public trust and confidence depend on this.”

OOPS: Biden Admits His $369 Billion Inflation Reduction Act Wasn’t About Inflation

Speaking in Wisconsin on Thursday, President Joe Biden bragged about his spending for his climate change agenda while inadvertently admitting that his gigantically-priced “Inflation Reduction Act” was not really about reducing inflation.
“I’m proud to announce that my investments, that through my investments, the most significant climate change law ever,” Biden boasted, then revealed that the Inflation Reduction Act title was simply a fig leaf for the real intent of the bill, continuing, ‘” And by the way, it is a $369 billion bill. It’s called the [Inflation Reduction Act]. We should have named it what it was.”
The bill was passed by Congress and signed into law by Biden in August 2022. In July 2023, Biden bragged on Facebook, “The Inflation Reduction Act included $369 billion, the biggest investment in the world in climate change, and we got it done without a single Republican vote.” (Daily Wire) Read more here.

Congressman Warns of Election Aftermath

Texas GOP Congressman Tony Gonzales recently gave his peers in the House of Representatives a stern wake-up call about the aftermath of the presidential election regardless of which party wins. He urged the House to step up and start leading.
Although this warning was issued to leaders in the nation, I felt that much of what he was speaking about was also a wake-up call to the church. Here is what Rep. Gonzales said and how it gives direction in prayer for our nation and one another.

China Halts Foreign Adoption of Children amid Demographic Crisis

The Chinese government on Friday announced that it will no longer allow foreign families to adopt Chinese children, ending a program that has found homes overseas for more than 160,000 children since 1992. While Beijing refused to clearly explain its decision, most observers suspected it was a response to declining birth rates in China.
The cutoff of foreign adoptions was so abrupt that families with pending cases had no idea if their adoptions would go forward. When the U.S. State Department sought clarification, Chinese officials said they “will not continue to process cases at any stage.”
“We understand there are hundreds of families still pending completion of their adoption, and we sympathize with their situation,” the State Department said.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry mumbled something about bringing foreign adoptions into line with “the spirit of relevant international conventions.”
This might have been a vague reference to Denmark and the Netherlands saying earlier this year that they will no longer allow overseas adoptions. Both of those decisions were prompted by bureaucratic irregularities and allegations of fraudulent paperwork, after a sharp decline in foreign adoptions during the Wuhan coronavirus pandemic. Evacuations ordered as wildfire burns in foothills of national forest east of LA
|
|
SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — Evacuations were expanded Saturday as a wildfire with leaping flames scorched the foothills of a national forest east of Los Angeles, amid a days-long heat wave that pushed temperatures into the triple digits across the region.
The so-called Line Fire was burning uncontrolled along the edge of the San Bernardino National Forest, about 65 miles (105 kilometers) east of LA. As of Saturday afternoon, the blaze charred about 11 square miles (28 sq. km.) of grass and chaparral, leaving a thick cloud of dark smoke blanketing the area.
The fire began Thursday evening, and the cause is under investigation.
About 500 firefighters were battling the blaze, supported by water-dropping helicopters that hovered over homes and hillsides, along with aircraft. Read More

And because of His grace and His love, I’m still here.” As CBN News previously reported, Schmidt, a 26-year-old dad of two, a military combat veteran, and the outreach director at Victory Chapel First Phoenix in Arizona, was taken to the hospital Nov. 15, 2023, on suspicion of having been assaulted. But a CT scan revealed he had been shot in the head. Schmidt’s condition quickly deteriorated, as his family prayed for a miracle and implored others to do the same.
Schmidt’s wife, Zulya, told CBN News late last year about the events surrounding the shocking ordeal, noting the shooting unfolded while Hans was street preaching as he has frequently done. “He’s been doing that for over a year, and, usually, he street preaches for 30 minutes before every evening service for our church,” she said. “That day, he just ended street preaching early, and I thought that was odd.” Schmidt said Hans loaded the sound system into the car after being shot and drove to the church. She suddenly noticed he was bleeding and assumed someone had potentially thrown a bottle at him while he was speaking or injured him in another similar way.
