Hollywood Actor Becomes Undercover Cop Who Now Stops Sex Predators in Their Tracks
|
|
Actor Erik Estrada is known for his many decades starring in TV shows and movies, but the “CHiPs” star has also forged a path as a law enforcement official who works undercover to stop child sex predators. Estrada, 75, recently told Fox News about his journey from Hollywood into policing. The latter was a childhood dream he began to recognize in 2008 while working as an actor. He became a reserve cop for the Muncie Police Department in Indiana and later became a deputy sheriff in Virginia. It was in that latter role with the Bedford County Sheriff’s Office that Estrada began working in his department’s Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) task force, Fox News reported.
When the actor realized the horrors unfolding on the internet against kids, he was enraged. “I got so upset when I saw what I saw because my daughter was 7 at the time,” Estrada told Fox News. “It really upset me. And then I got angry. It made me mad.” The actor spent the next eight years using various technologies to catch sex predators. Today, he works with the Frederick County Sheriff’s Office, where he entraps deviants by using fake identities to try and snag them before they can hurt kids. “While they’re talking to you, they think they’re talking to Kimmy, 13-and-a-half years-old,” he told Fox News. “Once you tell them your age, if they don’t sign off — just a matter of time before they make that move and cross that line and give you probable cause to go get them.” (Faith Wire) Read More

Senator Unveils Bill to Increase Size of Supreme Court to 15
|
|
Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) unveiled comprehensive reform legislation on Sept. 26 to add six justices to the U.S. Supreme Court, raising the total from the current nine members to 15.
The measure follows a bipartisan commission established by President Joe Biden found in late 2021 that Congress had authority to expand Supreme Court membership, and took no position on whether it should be done.
Wyden’s bill, called the Judicial Modernization and Transparency Act, would expand the court over a period of 12 years. A president would be allowed to appoint one nominee in each of the first and third years of a term in office.
It would also require a vote of two-thirds of Supreme Court justices to overturn acts of Congress, instead of a simple majority. One provision would subject justices to annual IRS audits of their tax returns and require the returns and audit results to be made public.
“The Supreme Court is in crisis and bold solutions are necessary to restore the public trust,” Wyden said in a statement.
“More transparency, more accountability and more checks on a power hungry Supreme Court are just what the American people are asking for.” Read more

Tropical Storm Helene Lashes the South, Leaves Millions Without Power
|
|
Authorities rescued people trapped by floodwaters and more than 3 million customers were in the dark across much of the southeastern U.S. as Hurricane Helene weakened to a tropical storm over Georgia early Friday after making landfall overnight in northwestern Florida as a Category 4 storm.
Helene came ashore amid warnings from the National Hurricane Center that the enormous system could create a “nightmare” storm surge. There were at least four storm-related deaths.
Video on social media sites showed sheets of rain coming down in Perry, Florida, near where Helene made landfall, and siding being torn off buildings. One local news station showed a home that had flipped over. The community and much of surrounding Taylor County were without power.
In Citrus County, some 120 miles (193 kilometers) south of Perry, first responders were out in boats early Friday to rescue people trapped by the flooding.
“If you are trapped and need help please call for rescuers – DO NOT TRY TO TREAD FLOODWATERS YOURSELF,” the sheriff’s office warned in a Facebook post. The water may contain live wires, sewage, sharp objects and other debris, they posted. Read more

3 Hackers with Ties to Iran Indicted in Plot Against Trump Campaign
|
|
|
Three men connected to Iran have been indicted in relation to a hacking plot against former President Donald Trump's campaign, the Department of Justice announced Friday.
Masoud Jalili, Seyyed Ali Aghamiri and Yasar Balaghi are the three suspects named in the case, according to a federal indictment unsealed Friday afternoon.
The indictment shows the trio are facing a long list of charges, including: Conspiracy to Obtain Information from a Protected Computer; Defraud and Obtain a Thing of Value; Commit Fraud Involving Authentication Features; Commit Aggravated Identity Theft; Commit Access Device Fraud; and Commit Wire Fraud While Falsely Registering Domains.
The three hackers, who are accused of working for Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, were allegedly "engaged in a wide-ranging hacking campaign that used spearphishing and social engineering techniques to target and compromise the accounts of current and former U.S. government officials, members of the media, nongovernmental organizations, and individuals associated with U.S. political campaigns."
Last week, the U.S. revealed the Iranian hackers had obtained information on the Trump campaign and tried to distribute it to people linked to the Biden campaign and media organizations since June. Read more

Israeli Military says Hezbollah Leader Hassan Nasrallah Killed in Beirut Strike
|
|
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the leader of the Hezbollah terrorist organization, Hassan Nasrallah, died in its strike Friday against the group’s headquarters in Lebanon.
"This is not the end of our toolbox. The message is simple, anyone who threatens the citizens of Israel - We will know how to reach them," the IDF's Chief of the General Staff, Ltf. Herzi Halevi said of the elimination of Nasrallah.
The IDF attacked the Iran-backed terror proxy’s headquarters in southern Beirut, revealing that they had targeted Nasrallah. A Hezbollah media relations official initially claimed he was "fine and well," but the Israelis confirmed his death early the next morning.
Hezbollah later confirmed the death of its terror chief. In a statement supplied to Reuters, it said it would continue its battle against Israel "in support of Gaza and Palestine, and in defense of Lebanon and its steadfast and honourable people".
At least two other people were killed and dozens were wounded, Lebanon’s health ministry said. Read more

1. Hassan Nasrallah eliminated: IDF confirms successful strike against Hezbollah chief - Israel Hayom
The IDF confirmed on Saturday that Hassan Nasrallah, the arch-terrorist who has led the Shiite group Hezbollah since 1992, has been eliminated, some 12 hours after Israel announced that it had struck the headquarters of the organization in Beirut."Hassan Nasrallah will no longer be able to terrorize the world," the IDF said on X.
On Friday night,, IDF Spokesperson Brigadier General Daniel Hagari announced that the Israeli Defense Forces recently conducted a strike against the central headquarters of Hezbollah in Lebanon. At the time, it was clear that Israel had potentially decapitated the entire command of Hezbollah.
Hours after the attack, toward 10 p.m. Israel time, Israeli sources said there was a growing belief that the terrorist group's leader, Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah, who has been in charge since 1992, was successfully eliminated, as there is "almost zero chance" that anyone could have survived the bombs that penetrated the underground bunkers. In Saturday's announcement confirming his death, the IDF said that his commander of the Southern Lebanon front, Alik Karki, was also killed. (Read more)

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuwarned Iran not to directly attack the Jewish state, as he addressed the high-level portion of the opening session of the 79th United Nations General Assembly.
“There is no place in Iran where the long arm of Israel cannot reach.”

3. ‘Victory, then we move to peace,’ Danny Danon says after IDF strike on Hezbollah chief - JNS
There is no ambiguity about Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declining a U.S.-French proposal for a ceasefire between the Jewish state and Hezbollah, Danny Danon, the Israeli ambassador to the United Nations, told JNS on Friday afternoon, after an Israeli strike targeted Hezbollah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut.
“When Prime Minister Netanyahu landed yesterday, he said it very directly. We will continue to fight the terrorists of Hezbollah, and we mean what we say. We are fighting terrorists,” Danny Danon told JNS, of Netanyahu’s comments upon touching down in New York City on Thursday.
The Israeli prime minister’s remarks appeared to indicate that he wasn’t interested in a three-week respite from hostilities, even though Washington had suggested that the proposal had Jerusalem backing. Netanyahu clarified his remarks on Friday morning, prior to his speech to the United Nations General Assembly, and said that he “shared the aims” of the ceasefire proposal, without explicitly committing to it. 4. IDF Confirms: Major Israeli strike in Yemen| At least 10 explosions reported - Israel National News
The IDF confirmed on Sunday that during an extensive, intelligence-based aerial operation, dozens of IAF aircraft—including fighter jets, mid-air refueling aircraft, and intelligence aircraft struck military targets belonging to the Houthi terrorist rebels in the Ras Isa and Hudaydah areas of Yemen.
The targets included power plants and a seaport used to import oil, which was "used by the Houthi terrorist regime to transfer Iranian weapons to the region, in addition to military supplies and oil," the IDF stated.
The IDF noted that the strikes were carried out in response to the recent attacks by the Houthis against the State of Israel. (Read more)

5. Israeli Navy intercepts drone over Red Sea - World Israel News
The Israeli Navy intercepted a drone fired toward Israel from the direction of the Red Sea, the Israel Defense Forces said on Sunday morning.
Sirens sounded in the Red Sea resort city of Eilat and surrounding areas.
The drone, presumably launched by Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen, was shot down by an Israeli Navy Saar 4.5 missile corvette “outside the country’s borders.”
Following the assassination of Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah in an Israeli airstrike on Friday, Abdul Malik al-Houthi, leader of the Yemeni terror group vowed to take revenge.

1. Trump Meets With Zelensky After Leaders Trade Digs Over Plan To End War – Daily Wire
Former President Donald Trump sat down with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at Trump Tower in New York City on Friday, just one day after President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris met with the European leader and announced an additional $8 billion in military assistance for Ukraine.
The meeting also comes days after Zelensky called Trump’s running mate, Sen. JD Vance (R-OH), “too radical” and expressed doubt that Trump has a plan for ending the war between Russia and Ukraine. The conflict is now in its 31st month as Russian and Ukrainian soldiers continue to fight over Ukraine’s southern and eastern territory.
Trump has promised to end the bloodbath in Ukraine if he becomes president. Before meeting with Zelensky, Trump told reporters, “We’re going to work very much with both parties to try and get this settled,” The Hill reported. Read more

2. NYC Democrat Mayor Eric Adams Charged With Bribery, Fraud, Acting As Foreign Agent – Daily Wire
New York City Democrat Mayor Eric Adams was indicted on multiple federal corruption charges in an indictment that was unsealed on Thursday.
Adams, whose residence was raided on Thursday morning, was indicted on one count of Conspiracy to Commit Wire Fraud, Federal Program Bribery, and to Receive Campaign Contributions By Foreign Nationals; one count of Wire Fraud; one count of Bribery, and two counts of Solicitation of a Contribution by a Foreign National.
The indictment says that Adams began soliciting and accepting improper benefits as a public official dating back to 2014, including luxury international travel from wealthy foreign businesspeople and at least one Turkish government official seeking to gain influence over him.
Adams “not only accepted, but sought illegal campaign contributions to his 2021 mayoral campaign, as well as other things of value, from foreign nationals,” the indictment said. Read more

3. Newport News Shipbuilding suspects intentionally faulty welds on multimillion-dollar Naval vessels- MSN/Fox
Newport News Shipbuilding informed the Department of Justice that there may be intentionally faulty welds on non-critical components located on in-service submarines and aircraft carriers, according to a report by USNI News Thursday.
The faulty work was discovered by internal quality assurance systems and early indications show that some of the welding errors were intentional, according to a statement to USNI News.
The Navy is now investigating the allegations and are attempting to measure how much has been affected by the faulty work.
"The Navy is aware of the issue and a thorough evaluation is underway to determine the scope. The safety of our Sailors and our ships is of paramount importance. We are working closely with industry partners to address this situation and will provide additional information when available," reads the statement. Read more

4. Walz administration goes fully racist with segregated 'retreat' for librarians - WND
Minnesota State Library Services, part of Democratic Gov. Tim Walz's administration, plans to use public funds to pay for a retreat intended exclusively for "BIPOC" librarians, according to documents obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller News Foundation.
The Walz administration describes the event, which will take place in October, as "a day of professional development and network-building designed specifically for BIPOC library workers of Minnesota," according to a registration page. Minnesota will use public funds to cover hotel lodging, meals and other fees for those attending the program, state documents show.
A sign-up form for the event allows those seeking to attend the program to select from an assortment of races and sexualities to describe themselves but "heterosexual" and "white" are notably missing from the options available.
Nicole Cooke, a professor of library and information science at the University of South Carolina, is booked as a keynote speaker for the event, according to an agenda obtained by the DCNF.
Cooke has argued that it is "tantamount to malpractice" to allow students to enter the workforce without first being educated on diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice. In 2017, she received a grant to study "racial microaggressions in libraries," according to a press release. Read more

5. China expert sounds alarm over 'war signals': 'Xi Jinping is about to do something truly horrendous' – Fox Business
Chinese President Xi Jinping may be on the verge of doing something "horrendous" after sending two "war signals" within 10 days of each other, says one expert.
Gordon Chang, senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute and author of ‘Plan Red: China’s Project to Destroy America,’ joined FOX Business' "Mornings with Maria" on Thursday to discuss the U.S. adversary’s rising aggression.
His comments come after the Ministry of Defense of the People's Republic of China announced that its military had launched an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) on Wednesday morning.
The missile, which carried a dummy warhead and was not targeting any particular nation, fell into the ocean without incident. The People's Liberation Army's Rocket Force claims that the launch was part of its routine military training calendar.
"That’s a war signal. That’s a second war signal that we’ve gotten from China in the last 10 days, which means that Xi Jinping is about to do something truly horrendous," Chang warned. Read more

6. More Americans Identify as Republican than Democrat as November Draws Nearer- The Washington Stand
For the first time in recorded history, more Americans are identifying with the Republican Party in the third quarter of a presidential election year than the Democratic Party — and are aligning with the GOP on key issues heading into November. Gallup released an in-depth analysis this week revealing that 48% of adults in the U.S. either identify as Republican or lean towards the Republican Party, compared to only 45% who identify as Democrat or lean towards the Democratic Party.
“Party affiliation and voting are strongly predictive of individuals’ vote choices, with the vast majority of identifiers and leaners voting for the candidate of their preferred party,” Gallup noted. The analytics giant continued, “At the aggregate level, there are typically more Democrats and Democratic leaners than Republicans and Republican leaners in the U.S. adult population.” In observing prior elections, Gallup pointed out that Democrats have typically won the White House when they have had “larger-than-normal advantages in party affiliation.”
For example, 52% of Americans identified with the Democratic Party in 1992, as opposed to 40% who allied themselves with the Republican Party, and Bill Clinton, then the Democratic Governor of Arkansas, won the presidency. The margin was a little lower in 1996, when 50% of Americans identified with the Democratic Party and 41% with the GOP, but Clinton won reelection. The margin was significantly narrower in 2000 (48% Democrat, 43% Republican) when Texas Governor George W. Bush, a Republican, beat incumbent Vice President Al Gore, a Democrat. In 2004, the nation was evenly split (47% identifying with the Democratic Party, 47% with the Republican Party), yielding another Bush win. Read more

Fast-moving water surged above front-door steps, inundating buildings and small businesses as Asheville appeared nearly flattened by Helene.
ASHEVILLE, N.C. — A historic village in western North Carolina is underwater after experiencing devastating flooding damage from Helene.
Tree branches, logs and a dumpster floated across Asheville’s Biltmore Village, renowned for being built and owned by a single individual.
Resident Tammy Borgesen was among the dozens of people standing outside a downtown hotel, one of the few places with Wi-Fi access, hoping to connect with loved ones.
“We’ve been trying to get an email or a text out to just let everybody know we’re OK,” said Borgesen, who had water but no power at her home.
She said she plans to wait out the storm and “hope for the best.”
“We’re in a weird limbo,” Borgesen said.
Water levels reached several feet, with some areas nearing the tops of street signs. Fast-moving water surged above front-door steps, inundating buildings and small businesses as Asheville appeared nearly flattened by Helene.
“We knew the flooding was coming but we didn’t know it was going to be this catastrophic,” one woman at the scene told NBC News. “All of the loss and destruction is just heartbreaking.” Read More
