Biden Admin Sneaks Pro-Abortion Policy Into Pregnant Workers Fairness Act
|
|
How can Washington bureaucrats take a law that could prevent abortions and turn it into an instrument to encourage them? When the pro-abortion Biden administration is writing the regulations, that’s how. At least, that’s a possible outcome regarding the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA).
That law, passed as an amendment to last year’s omnibus spending bill, gave pregnant women common-sense rights in the workplace. Similar to the process outlined in the Americans with Disabilities Act, the PWFA requires most employers to make reasonable accommodations for their workers’ pregnancies, so long as those accommodations do not create an undue burden on the business.
The law will give pregnant workers the right to, for instance, take more frequent bathroom breaks or carry water with them at their job site. The measure seems like a common-sense, pro-family measure, one that both sides of the partisan divide can support as a way to make life a little easier for pregnant workers and, in so doing, perhaps discourage some from considering abortion as an option. That is until the Biden administration got involved.
When the federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) recently released proposed rules implementing the PWFA, it included abortion as one of the “related medical conditions” covered by the act. If the proposal gets finalized and abortion becomes subject to the PWFA, most employers will have to give their workers leave to obtain an abortion or abortion-related services. Federal Court Strikes Down Felony Voting Ban As ‘Cruel And Unusual Punishment’ In Unprecedented Ruling
|

A federal appeals court ruled against Mississippi’s permanent voting ban for certain felons, going against Supreme Court precedent in doing so.
The Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals ruled last month that the Mississippi Constitution’s lifetime voting ban for felons convicted of certain crimes violates the Eighth Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
The Mississippi Constitution revokes an individual’s right to vote permanently if they receive a felony conviction for crimes including arson, bigamy, bribery, embezzlement, forgery, murder, obtaining money or goods under false pretense, perjury, rape, or theft, as well as those crimes the Mississippi attorney general determines fall under those explicit categories, such as armed robbery and timber larceny.. Mossad Director David Barnea said on Sunday that Israel was concerned about Russia selling advanced weaponry to Iran, and revealed that the spy agency and its allies in the international intelligence community foiled 27 Iranian attacks against Jews and Israelis abroad over the past year.
Speaking at an annual conference of the Institute for Counter-Terrorism Policy (ICT) at Reichman University in Herzliya, Barnea said Iran had intentions to provide Russia with short- and long-range missiles in addition to the UAVs that it sold to the Russian military for its invasion of Ukraine.
Amid the ongoing invasion, which began in February 2022, Russia has been using the Iranian-made Shahed-136 drone, after it received delivery of hundreds of units from Tehran, despite Western nations warning Iran against exporting the weapon. (Times of Israel) Read more here.

1. Gantz says he will accept a judicial overhaul compromise that ‘preserves democracy’ - Times of Israel
Leading opposition figure Benny Gantz said Monday that he would be willing to accept a compromise deal on the judicial overhaul if it “preserved democracy,” amid reports that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is planning to announce a “unilateral softening” of the legislation in a bid to head off a confrontation with the High Court.
However, Gantz reiterated his call from last week, when he rejected fresh talks with Netanyahu, for the prime minister to first prove he has the political support from his hardline coalition necessary to compromise.
“I’m not interested in Netanyahu’s motivations,” said Gantz, speaking at a conference at Reichman University. “If there is a solution placed on the table that will preserve democracy, I will be there.” (Read more)

2. ‘Israel will act if Iran enriches uranium above 60%’ - JNS
Israel will have no choice but to act if Iran enriches uranium above 60% purity, National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi warned on Monday in an address at a counterterrorism conference at Reichman University in Herzliya.
“If Iran moves to enrich uranium above 60% and we identify it—and there is no possibility that we won’t, that the world would not recognize it—the result is that Israel would act out of necessity,” said Hanegbi. “There would be no choice.”
Such a development would indicate that “Iran is clearly pursuing a [nuclear] bomb, as a policy, and we cannot risk our fate,” added Hanegbi, without specifying how Jerusalem would respond. (Read more)

3. Mossad chief: Israel in danger if Russia sends weapons to Iran - Israel Hayom
The Mossad intelligence agency, in cooperation with its international allies, has so far in 2023 foiled 27 plots by Iran to murder Israelis and Jews abroad, the agency's Director David Barnea revealed Sunday.
Speaking at the International Institute for Counter-Terrorism's 22nd World Summit on Counter-Terrorism at Herzliya's Reichman University, Barnea noted a "significant increase in attempts to attack Jews and Israelis worldwide" by what he called "the Terroristic Republic of Iran.”
"The plots being pursued by these [terrorist] teams were orchestrated, masterminded, and directed by Iran," he said, noting that the attempted attacks occurred "all over the world," including "in Europe, Africa, Southeast Asia and South America." (Read more)

4. Israeli Defense Minister Reveals Iranian-Built Terror Airfield in South Lebanon - Algemeiner
Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant on Monday accused Iran of building an airstrip near the Israel-Lebanon border for use in terrorist attacks against the Jewish state.
Speaking at a security conference at Reichman University in Israel, Gallant revealed what he described as images of the airfield showing the flags of Iran and its chief proxy force, the Lebanese terror group Hezbollah. Gallant said the airstrip, which is about 12 miles north of the Israeli border near the Lebanese village of Birket Jabbour, was intended to be used for “terrorist objectives.”
“The land is Lebanese, the control is Iranian, and the target is Israel,” Gallant said. “If it comes to a conflict, we will not hesitate to activate the lethal force of the IDF [Israel Defense Forces]. Hezbollah and Lebanon will pay heavy and painful prices.” (Read more)

1. Morocco earthquake: Rescuers race to find survivors - Reuters
Rescuers raced against time on Monday to find survivors in the rubble more than 48 hours after Morocco's deadliest earthquake in over six decades, with nearly 2,500 killed in a disaster that devastated villages in the High Atlas Mountains.
Search teams from Spain, Britain and Qatar were joining efforts to find survivors of the 6.8 magnitude quake that struck late on Friday night, 72 km (45 miles) southwest of Marrakech.
Many survivors spent a third night outside, their homes destroyed or rendered unsafe. The death toll has climbed to 2,497 with 2,476 people injured, the state news agency reported on Monday.
In Imgdal, a village about 75 km south of Marrakech, women and children huddled early on Wednesday morning under makeshift tents set up along the road and next to damaged buildings. Some gathered around an open fire. Further south, a car stood crushed by boulders that had fallen from the cliff. .(Read more)

2. Biden Admin’s Claim Of Success Over Recent Border Policies Drowned Out By Renewed Illegal Immigration Surge – Daily Caller
The Biden administration’s claim its policies have been working at the southern border have been drowned out by a renewed surge in illegal immigration.
After the end of Title 42, the Trump-era expulsion policy, in May, the Biden administration began increasingly relying on legal pathways they created to mitigate an expected influx of migrants and threats of removal. After a brief dip in illegal migrant encounters at the southern border, the numbers are up and the policies aren’t working, former acting Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan and a current Border Patrol agent working along the southern border told the Daily Caller News Foundation.

3. US Pushes Bidenomics To The World During Weekend Summit For Global Powers – Daily Caller
President Joe Biden’s signature economic policy, dubbed “Bidenomics,” is being pushed onto other countries this weekend as the president heads to the G20 summit in India.
Biden traveled to New Delhi, India, on Thursday, where he is attending the G20 summit — a gathering of 19 major countries and the European Union — to discuss issues related to global cooperation, according to statements made in a briefing Tuesday from Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan. Sullivan emphasized that Biden would be championing his economic policy at the summit, pushing other countries, particularly developing nations, to adopt the same approach.
“Here at home, President Biden has worked to rebuild the American economy, as you’ve all heard him say, from the bottom up and the middle out by making smart investments in the industries of the future while tackling climate change and empowering workers,” Sullivan said at a press briefing. “We think countries around the world, too, can benefit from a similar type of approach and that we can help them as well by mobilizing investment to support them in tackling the challenges that they face.” (Read more)

4. EXCLUSIVE: FOIA Turns Up Zilch On The ‘Full Authority’ Garland Claims He Gave Weiss Over Hunter Biden – The Federalist
Emails obtained by the Heritage Foundation following a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, and shared exclusively with The Federalist, reveal a glaring gap in the documentation maintained by the Delaware U.S. attorney’s office: There is nothing memorializing the authority Attorney General Merrick Garland claims he gave U.S. Attorney David Weiss for the Hunter Biden investigation.
For more than a year, Garland represented to Congress that Weiss held ultimate authority over the Hunter Biden investigation — which the eventual appointment of Weiss as special counsel contradicted. But now there is more evidence — or rather a lack of evidence — indicating the claimed authority was always a charade.
The Friday before the long holiday weekend, the DOJ provided the Heritage Foundation with the second batch of documents it was ordered by a federal court to produce in response to Heritage’s FOIA lawsuit. This installment concluded the DOJ’s production of the non-exempt documents in Weiss’s custody which concerned his authority for investigating Hunter Biden. 5. New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham Issues Order Suspending Concealed Carry for Self-Defense - Breitbart
New Mexico Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham (D) issued an order Friday suspending, for 30 days, state residents’ rights to carry guns for self-defense in Albuquerque.
The ban applies to concealed and open carry.
The Associated Press reported that the governor made the move in response to gun violence in the city of Albuquerque.
KOB4 noted the ban on carrying guns begins September 8 and runs for 30 days, after which the governor will make a decision about extending it.
When questioned about her order’s impact on the Second Amendment, the governor stressed her belief that “no constitutional right … is intended to be absolute.” (Read more)

6. ‘Completely Inappropriate’: Oklahoma Elementary School Hires Drag Queen as Principal - Breitbart
A superintendent of an Oklahoma school district is calling for the immediate termination of a recently hired elementary school principal who performs as a drag queen and has faced child pornography charges in the past.
Dr. Shane Murnan, 52 — who performs as Shantel Mandalay at a venue called the Boom, hosting Thirsty Thursday and Sunday Night Karaoke, and who participates in drag queen story hour with children — was named the new principal of John Glenn Elementary, Fox News Digital reported.
Ryan Walters, the school district’s superintendent, said this is a move to indoctrinate children with harmful Marxist ideology and a way to pit children against their parents.
“I hear from parents every day that are concerned with this woke left-wing indoctrination of schools, this gender theory that continues to be thrust upon our kids,” Walters told Fox New Digital. “It’s completely inappropriate.” (Read more)

7. "You’re Not Going To Have Deliveries": Former Trump Official Predicts Higher Costs From Biden’s Electric Truck Push – Daily Caller
A former Trump administration official predicted that President Joe Biden’s push for electric trucks would increase costs for consumers by wrecking small trucking companies.
A trucking industry group warned Friday that new regulations the Biden administration instituted in March would endanger America’s food supply, according to Fox News. “People don’t understand how important trucking is,” Fox Business host Larry Kudlow told “America Reports” co-host Sandra Smith.
“So, if you look at what the trade association is saying, or what some – most are small business trucks, these new greenie regulations and emissions standards perhaps cost as much as $45,000 per truck and they can’t afford it,” Kudlow continued. “And they will go down, and if they go down, then you are not going to have deliveries.”
Congress passed a resolution disapproving of the regulations, which were 80% stricter than current standards, in May, but President Biden vetoed the resolution, saying blocked the resolution because it “would take us backwards in our fight against air pollution.” Economic and energy experts have criticized Biden’s hostility to fossil fuel production, which some claim have caused higher energy prices. 8. Scientist admits he 'left out the full truth' in order to publish climate change wildfire study – Just the News
A scientist from California recently admitted that he "left out the full truth" about extreme wildfire behavior in order to get his study published in a science journal.
Doctor of earth and climate sciences and Johns Hopkins University lecturer Patrick T. Brown, wrote an article in The Free Press in which he admitted that he distorted some of his research in order to please the editors at Nature and Science magazines, which are prestigious online science journals.
"And the editors of these journals have made it abundantly clear, both by what they publish and what they reject, that they want climate papers that support certain pre-approved narratives—even when those narratives come at the expense of broader knowledge for society," Brown wrote in the article.
Last month, Brown published a study that stated climate change heavily impacted "wildfire behavior" such as the ones that often occur in California and the devastating fire that swept through Maui in Hawaii.
He now admits that his study "focused narrowly" on the influence of climate change on extreme wildfire behavior and didn't focus broadly on other "obviously relevant factors" that contributed. (Read more)

9. Amid standoff with Pentagon, Tuberville blasts Biden over China: ‘Walking around with blinders on’ – Just the News
Sen. Tommy Tuberville, R-Ala., the legendary football coach turned politician now locked in an epic battle with the Pentagon over abortion funding, tells Just the News he believes President Joe Biden has weakened the military through social engineering and endangered America by appeasing an increasingly aggressive China.
“Our problem is China. And their goal is to take over as world dominance, and they do everything they possibly can,” Tuberville told the John Solomon Reports podcast on Friday, rattling off Chinese aggression ranging from spy balloons and Confucius Institute infiltration of U.S. schools to recent penetrations by Chinese nationals of U.S. military installations.

The Duty And Obligation Of Standing

Deuteronomy 29 finds Moses addressing the children of Israel recounting how the Lord God brought them out of Egypt and the many miracles that kept them alive in the desert for 40 years. Verses 9-12 say, “Today you are standing, all of you, before the Lord your God—your heads, your tribes, your leaders and your officers…The purpose is that you should enter into the covenant of the Lord…that he can establish you today for himself as a people, and so that for you he will be God.” The Israelites were soon to enter the promised land and they were standing before God in reaffirmation of the covenant that they would be God’s people and he would be their God. There is a lot about “standing” in the Bible.
We are encouraged in Ephesians 6:13 to “having done all, stand.” There are over 100 verses exhorting us to “stand firm.” As believers, we must know that “standing” is important, just by the mere multiple mentions of it in scripture. Galatians 5:1 exhorts us to “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” I am reminded of a sermon by Rev. Jacob Duche’ delivered to George Washington’s troops on July 7, 1774 titled “The Duty of Standing Fast In Our Spiritual and Temporal Liberties.” It was essentially required reading for Washington’s troops when they were encamped at Valley Forge. Son of 9/11 victim says departure from tradition is evidence of 'unfortunate reality' about the country
President Biden is taking heat from some families of 9/11 victims for departing from tradition and becoming the first U.S. president in 22 years to neither spend the day at an attack site nor the White House.
"It's no surprise to me that he's not coming to Ground Zero or any of the 9/11 sites," Retired Air Force Lt. Col. Donald Arias, who lost his brother Adam during the attacks, told "Fox & Friends First" Monday.
"And quite frankly, I prefer he stay away anyway. We will be spared one of his stories of how he can relate, like he did with the people of Lahaina, how he can relate because of a kitchen fire. We can do without that."
Biden, who is returning to Washington, D.C., following a trip overseas to India and Vietnam, is set to speak later today at a ceremony at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson in Anchorage, Alaska, while Vice President Kamala Harris is among the elected officials attending events at the National September 11 Memorial in New York City. It appears that going to Alaska instead of the other 9-11 memorial sites is a political move. We pray that You will comfort the families of 9-11 victims and grant them grace to endure such a snub. We ask that You grant the USA repentance and mercy to undo all of the wrongs that this Administration has perpetrated.

NASA’s Swift Learns a New Trick, Spots
a Snacking Black Hole

Using NASA’s Neil Gehrels Swift Observatory, which launched in 2004, scientists have discovered a black hole in a distant galaxy repeatedly nibbling on a Sun-like star. The object heralds a new era of Swift science made possible by a novel method for analyzing data from the satellite’s X-ray Telescope (XRT).
“Swift’s hardware, software, and the skills of its international team have enabled it to adapt to new areas of astrophysics over its lifetime,” said Phil Evans, an astrophysicist at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom and longtime Swift team member. “Neil Gehrels, the mission’s namesake, oversaw and encouraged many of those transitions. Now, with this new ability, it’s doing even more cool science.”
Evans led a study about the unlucky star and its hungry black hole, collectively called Swift J023017.0+283603 (or Swift J0230 for short), which was published on Sept. 7 in Nature Astronomy.
When a star strays too close to a monster black hole, gravitational forces create intense tides that break the star apart into a stream of gas. The leading edge swings around the black hole, and the trailing edge escapes the system. These destructive episodes are called tidal disruption events. Astronomers see them as flares of multiwavelength light created when the debris collides with a disk of material already orbiting the black hole. Read More

'Sound of Freedom' Box Office Defies
Expectations Outside U.S.

Sound of Freedom has smashed box office expectations outside of its biggest market, the U.S., which comes as no surprise to its director.
"We were told we only have a 1 percent chance to be successful, but it was our audience that came out and defended [the movie]... and it's thanks to the audience that we survived the attacks [from the critics]," Alejandro Monteverde, who also wrote the screenplay, told Newsweek.
The film about child sex trafficking became the surprise hit of the summer in the U.S., making $182.58 million, despite only having a budget of $15 million. Sound of Freedom also out performed mega-franchises, Mission: Impossible—Dead Reckoning Part One and Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny to become the 10th highest grossing movie of 2023 so far.
