'Conspiracy': Melania Trump jumps into fray over assassination attempt cover-up
|

|
Multitudes have questioned how the assassination attempt by the now-dead Thomas Matthew Crooks against President Trump at a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, could have happened.
Congress continues to review it, and commentators have insisted the public does not yet know all the facts.
Among the unanswered is how Crooks was able to get onto the roof of a building within the sight line of Trump with a rifle on July 13. He had been spotted by rally goers, yet he was not stopped. Other questions remain today circling around the Secret Service, which in blunt terms failed that day.
The near-catastrophe already has cost the Secret Service chief her job.
But now Melania Trump, whose participation in her husband's 2024 campaigning so far has been limited, is insisting on answers.
A report at the Daily Mail says Melania has released a video raising questions about the role of law enforcement in the events that day.
She calls the attack on her husband a "horrible, distressing experience."
"Now, the silence around it is heavy," she said. "I can't help but wonder why didn't law enforcement officials arrest the shooter before the speech.
"There is definitely more to this story. And we need to uncover the truth."

Bills to Blacklist Chinese Biotech, Counter CCP Influence Among Spate of China Measures

WASHINGTON—On their first day back from summer recess, House lawmakers passed a flurry of China-related legislation. Two noteworthy bills require the backlisting of Chinese biotech firms and funding for the State Department to coordinate efforts to counter the Chinese regime’s malign influence.
Amid other priorities, most notably the pressure to pass spending bills, the House voted in a bipartisan manner to add a “China Week” to the calendar. The widespread support is indicative of the congressional consensus that the Chinese communist regime poses the most significant national security risk to the values of the United States.
The 15 bills, most of which were fast-tracked with a 40-minute debate and a voice vote, focus on addressing the threat posed by the Chinese Communist Party to the United States in two areas: technology and influence.
Six bills aim to prohibit communist China from breaching U.S. security via insecure devices or predatory data collection, including Chinese drones, port cranes, and biotech companies collecting the genetic data of Americans.
Another four bills aim to support the U.S. global technological leadership by fending off Chinese espionage and strengthening export controls.

Francine path updates: Where will forecasted hurricane make landfall?
|
|
Tropical Storm Francine, which formed Monday, has taken a slow path across the Gulf. It's now gathering speed and taking direct aim on the Louisiana Gulf Coast, with landfall expected there sometime on Wednesday.
"Francine is anticipated to be just offshore of the coasts of northeastern Mexico and southern Texas through this afternoon, and then move across the northwestern Gulf of Mexico, making landfall in Louisiana on Wednesday," the National Hurricane Center said in a midday Tuesday forecast. Towns closest to the location of expected landfall include Morgan City and Houma, Louisiana.
New Orleans should brace for major flooding rain, winds of up to 73 mph, the possibility of tornadoes and 3-5 feet of storm surge, the local weather service office said Tuesday. The city, infamously ravaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005, was just to the east of Francine's worst impacts, according to Tuesday forecasts.
After landfall, the storm's center is expected to move into Mississippi "on Wednesday night or Thursday."
As the system approaches the central Gulf Coast and eventually pushes inland across Louisiana, an increased threat of life-threatening storm surge, hurricane-force winds and considerable flash flooding is anticipated, the hurricane center warned.
As Francine neared, authorities called for a mandatory evacuation of residents in three coastal communities and schools were closed. Officials along the coast from near Galveston, Texas and in various locations as far east as New Orleans were distributing sandbags.USA Today) Read more here.

1. ICC prosecutor seeks warrants against Israeli leaders, Sinwar ‘with utmost urgency’ - Times of Israel
International Criminal Court (ICC) Prosecutor Karim Khan has called on Pre-Trial Chamber I of the court to issue the arrest warrants he requested in May against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, as well as Hamas leaders Yahya Sinwar and Mohammed Deif and “with utmost urgency.”
Writing in a submission filed on Monday, Khan said the warrants were needed due to the “ongoing criminality” he alleged in his initial request, and to what he said was the “worsening situation in Palestine.”
Netanyahu slammed the call, saying it was a “moral disgrace of the first order.”

2. Israeli negotiator offers ‘safe passage’ to Sinwar and his family in exchange for hostages – report - World Israel News
Gal Hirsch, Israel’s chief negotiator for hostages and missing persons, is reportedly offering safe passage to Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar in exchange for the remaining 101 hostages.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Hirsch said, “I’m ready to provide safe passage to Sinwar, his family, whoever wants to join him. We want the hostages back. We want demilitarization, de-radicalization of course — a new system that will manage Gaza,” he stated.
According to the report, the proposal has been under consideration for several days.
“In parallel, I must work on plans B, C, and D because I must bring the hostages back home. The clock is ticking; the hostages do not have time,” Hirsch added. (Read more)

3. Gallant signals Lebanon IDF ground operation as Gaza action wraps up - Jerusalem Post
Defense Minister Yoav Gallant oversaw the conclusion of the 9th Brigade's exercises in northern Israel on Tuesday, which involved simulating ground combat in Lebanese territory, and stated that the IDF would operate in Lebanon.
"I’m impressed by the determination and professionalism I’ve witnessed over nearly a year, both in the North and the South," Gallant remarked.
"The center of gravity is shifting to the north. While we are wrapping up our missions in the South, an important task remains in the North: to restore security and allow residents to return to their homes." (Read more)

4. Israel rejects Hamas claim of mass casualties in Khan Yunis strike - JNS
The Israel Defense Forces on Tuesday rejected Hamas’s claims that dozens of civilians were killed and wounded in an overnight airstrike on a Hamas command-and-control center in the humanitarian area near Khan Yunis in southern Gaza.
Three senior Hamas operatives were among the terrorists killed in the strike, carried out by Israeli Air Force fighter jets acting under the direction of the Israel Security Agency and the IDF.
The military named them as Samer Ismail Khadr Abu Daqqa, head of Hamas’ aerial unit in Gaza; Osama Tabesh, head of the observation and targets department in Hamas’s military intelligence; and Ayman Mabhouh, another senior Hamas terrorist. (Read more)

Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant asserted on Monday that the Hamas terror group is no longer capable of maintaining an organized fighting force in the Gaza Strip after more than 11 months of war.
“Hamas as a military formation no longer exists. Hamas is engaged in guerrilla warfare and we are still fighting Hamas terrorists and pursuing Hamas leadership,” he told foreign journalists at his office at Israel Defense Forces headquarters in Tel Aviv, according to AFP‘s account. The remarks were released for publication on Tuesday.
He made the comments in the context of promoting a potential ceasefire agreement that would see the 101 remaining hostages, both alive and dead, released in exchange for many more Palestinian terrorists in Israeli prisons. (Read more)

1. Elections expert reveals his prediction of Trump’s percentage chances with electoral college - DML News
Polling expert Nate Silver’s model now gives Donald Trump a 63.8% chance of winning the Electoral College, following a NYT-Siena College poll showing Trump leading Vice President Kamala Harris by 1 point.
While Harris has led in several national and swing state polls, Silver noted this poll signals a shift in momentum toward Trump. The poll also found more voters view Harris as “too liberal” than those who see Trump as “too conservative.”
Silver’s model shows Harris with a 36% chance of winning the Electoral College, despite leading Trump by 2.5 points in national polls. On Wednesday, Nate Silver reported that Trump’s Electoral College chances rose from 52.4% to 58.2% since late August, while Harris’ dropped from 47.3% to 41.6%. 3. Algerian president declares victory; his opponents are pointing to fraud - DML News
Algerian election officials declared President Abulmadjid Tebboune the winner of the election with 95 percent of the vote. Opposition leaders condemned the election as a “farce,” accusing Tebboune of ballot stuffing to avoid a runoff. Tebboune himself joined the criticism, highlighting discrepancies between official results and local vote tallies and turnout figures.
The Algerian National Independent Election Authority (ANIE) reported that President Abulmadjid Tebboune won re-election with 94.7 percent of the vote, while Islamist Abedlali Hassani Cherif received 3.2 percent and socialist Youcef Aouchiche got 2.2 percent. Although heavily favored to win, the 78-year-old Tebboune was dissatisfied with the turnout of less than 40 percent in his previous victory and sought a higher turnout to strengthen his mandate.
Elected after the 2019 pro-democracy protests ousted Abdelaziz Bouteflika, Tebboune faced criticism for replacing one autocrat with another. 4. Harris embraces Supreme Court term limits that could retire Thomas by 2025 - Washington Examiner
The Harris-Walz campaign at last posted policy positions on its website Monday, proposing a plan that would possibly result in the forced retirement of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas by next year, along with two more Republican-appointed justices before the next decade.
Released a day before Vice President Kamala Harrisheads to the debate stage against former President Donald Trump, the policy outline includes so-called commonsense Supreme Court reforms such as “imposing term limits.” It’s unclear how long Harris believes a justice should remain on the high court before he or she would be automatically forced into retirement, and her campaign dedicated more attention and detail on its website toward attacking Trump for the three justices he nominated during his single term in office.

5. USSS assistant director asked to retire over Butler assassination attempt on Trump - Fox News
A high-ranking leader within the United States Secret Service (USSS) has been asked to retire, Fox News Digital has learned. Michael Plati, the office of protective operations assistant director, has been asked to retire from his position, and he is ending his tenure with the service in the coming days.
The decision is reportedly linked with the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania — a security failure that has sent shock waves through all levels of the agency.
The USSS is preparing to brief Congress in the coming days about lessons learned from the July 13 attempt on Trump's life.

Former President Donald Trump announced his support for a Florida ballot measure to legalize marijuana for adults over 21. In a social media post, Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, said he would back state efforts to decriminalize and regulate marijuana and promote research into its medical uses if elected.
“As I have previously stated, I believe it is time to end needless arrests and incarcerations of adults for small amounts of marijuana for personal use,” Trump said. “We must also implement smart regulations, while providing access for adults, to safe, tested product. As a Floridian, I will be voting YES on Amendment 3 this November.”
Trump pledged to work with Congress on “common sense” marijuana laws, including safe banking for legal vendors. Marijuana legalization is widely supported in the U.S., with a 2024 Pew Research survey showing 57% favoring legal use for both medical and recreational purposes and only 11% opposing legalization entirely. There is a rising stench of antisemitism in America and around the world. It is not just propagated by those terrorist sympathizers that we see demonstrating in the streets of major cities. It is also spread among those who would call themselves “Christians” because they believe the “Church” replaced Israel and the Jews as God’s chosen people. There couldn’t be anything more misguided and against scripture. Yet this sentiment is a growing wildfire reaching to the height of the heavens. My friend, Aaron Fruh, President of Israel Team Advocates, whose mission is to change the growing anti-Israel narrative on college campuses, explained the rising antisemitism in Christianity, in The Times of Israel.
He writes: “The Evangelical anti-Zionist and Antisemitic organization Christ at the Checkpoint (CATC) held its biannual conference in Bethlehem of Judea this past May at Bethlehem Bible College. In 2017, the NGO Monitor reported that “Christ at the Checkpoint seeks to advance the Palestinian nationalist agenda within Evangelical Christian churches while simultaneously reviving theological antisemitic themes such as replacement theology…Other anti-Jewish themes promoted at CATC include the de-Judaizing of Jesus and the promotion of a racial theory of Jewish origins.” This year’s CATC conference pivoted—leapt would be a better description—from its traditional theological foundation of Supersessionism (the false narrative that the church has replaced Israel and Palestinian Christians are the rightful owners of Jewish land). Rioters Cause Mayhem, Loot Stores in DC

Some of the wealthiest parts of our nation’s capital were hit by rioters. A number of citizens were injured and businesses damaged early Tuesday morning.
City Center, Logan Circle and Georgetown were among the targets of the rampaging mob of thugs. A number of fires were set as well.
The rioters hit several high-end stores – including Gucci.
It’s the same kind of violence that has plagued other large cities.
One major issue is there’s consequence for committing crimes. Police make the arrests, but George Soros district attorneys are quick to put the criminals back on the streets.
Yet another reason why crime is one of the top concerns among voters.
It’s unacceptable that criminals have more rights than victims and the violence is only going to get worse – unless a change is made at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. (Todd

On September 11, 2001—a clear, sunny, late summer day—al Qaeda terrorists aboard three hijacked passenger planes carried out coordinated suicide attacks against the World Trade Center in New York City and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., killing everyone on board the planes and nearly 3,000 people on the ground. A fourth plane crashed into a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania, killing all on board, after passengers and crew attempted to wrest control from the hijackers.
Please take a moment to honor those who lost their lives on this tragic day. For the first responders and heroes, we will never forget your efforts to save those who were impacted by this horrific event. May God bring our nation to a time of remembrance and honor on this historic day.

RINGS, the Roman Infrared Nearby Galaxy Survey, will specifically uncover the dynamic universe by searching galaxies for fossils of their formation history. RINGS will also lead scientists to clues about the true nature of dark matter, the mysterious substance that makes up the majority of the mass in our universe.
Roman will launch in 2027, prepared to revolutionize how scientists understand our universe and give them access to the vision of the universe as it truly is: changing.

The universe is a dynamic, ever-changing place where galaxies are dancing, merging together, and shifting appearance. Unfortunately, because these changes take millions or billions of years, telescopes can only provide snapshots, squeezed into a human lifetime.

LOWER MANHATTAN (WABC) -- The sound of the falling water muffles the clang of the city that surrounds it. A stand of swamp white oak trees, each one numbered and doted on, shelter this sacred space, and 23 years on, families still leave flowers on the sturdy plates where the names of the dead are seared in bronze and lighted from below. When the tourists leave and the sun sets, the water in the pools of the 9/11 Memorial slows and draws to a trickle, and a busy army of workers takes over. Overnight, the bronze plates, worn by the constant tussle of visitors, are refurbished by artisans with a torch in one hand and a touch-up brush in the other. Thirty feet below, others pull out miles of hose to clean the pools of debris and leaves that fall in. They work there in reverent silence, keeping this national storehouse of grief and hope immaculate. "It's not just a bronze plate, it's how they move forward," said Tony Locasto, chief engineer.
Locasto heads up the team in charge of maintaining the National 9/11 Memorial. An engineer by trade, he knows all about the physical plant that makes the memorial operate. But he knows, too, how important it is to keep this unique space, the footprints of the World Trade Center, where nearly 3,000 people lost their lives pristine. "The family members come to the memorial because it's where they remember their loved ones, they can reminisce," he said. The cool, pleasant night Eyewitness News visited Locasto and his crew, and no one complained about the weather. But, the workers are there every night, in whatever weather they find. "Fifteen degrees. Snow squalls," he said. All in the name of maintaining this special space, where heartache and hope together bind a nation.
