WATCH: Trump lays into ‘corrupt’ New York AG Letitia James for being 'stuck' off campaign trail at fraud trial

Trump and his codefendants are accused of overvaluing his assets
|
|
Former President Donald Trump laid into Democrat New York Attorney General Letitia James after leaving a Lower Manhattan Court on Wednesday, the third day of his civil fraud trial concerning the alleged overvaluation of his assets.
After exiting the courtroom, Trump stopped to address members of the media waiting outside and lamented being "stuck" at the trial rather than campaigning for president. He accused James of coordinating with the Justice Department to keep him off the campaign trail.
"I'm here, stuck here, and I can't campaign. I'd rather be right now in Iowa. I'd rather be in New Hampshire or South Carolina or Ohio or a lot of other places. But I'm stuck here because I have a corrupt attorney general that communicates with the DOJ in Washington to keep me nice and busy, because I'm leading Biden in the polls by a lot," Trump said.
"This is election interference. They made up a fake case, these fraudulent people. And the judge already knows what he's going to do. He's a Democrat judge. In all fairness to him he has no choice," Trump said. "I know this city better than anybody who knows this city. Nobody knows it like I do. He's a Democrat judge out of the clubhouses, he's controlled, and it's a shame. What's going on here is a shame. Our whole system is corrupt. This is corrupt, Atlanta is corrupt, and what's coming out of D.C. is corrupt."
He accused James of wanting "the publicity" from targeting him and his finances because she was running for governor of New York amid the investigation in 2021, a bid that she ultimately dropped after just two months to instead run for re-election as attorney general.
Trump also used the opportunity to blast Judge Arthur Engoron, who is overseeing the trial, for valuing his Florida Mar-a-Lago estate at just $18 million, rather than what he claims should be "50 to 100 times more than that." (Fox News) Read more here.

- Father, we are deeply grieved over the attacks against president Trump. If he did anything wrong we ask for repentance. If not, we ask for justice. We pray Your healing and peace to his heart.
- "Judgment will again be founded on righteousness, and all the upright in heart will follow it.
16 Who will rise up for me against the wicked?
Who will take a stand for me against evildoers?
17 Unless the Lord had given me help,
I would soon have dwelt in the silence of death.
18 When I said, “My foot is slipping,”
your unfailing love, Lord, supported me."

Supreme Court Declines to Hear Appeal From Pro-Life Group That Secretly Filmed Abortion Workers
|
|
The Supreme Court on Friday declined to hear an appeal over a florist's refusal to offer service for a wedding of a same-sex couple, allowing a state court's ruling that the shop engaged in unlawful discrimination.
The court ruled 6-3 in declining to take it up. At least four justices need to vote in favor of granting a petition to authorize a review of a case. Justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, and Clarence Thomas voted in favor (pdf) of taking the case.
The Supreme Court didn't provide an explanation for its denial to hear the case, stating, in part: "The petition for a writ of certiorari is denied." (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

McCarthy Out as Speaker—Here Are Some Possibilities of What May Happen Next
|
|
Until a permanent Speaker is voted in by the whole House, an interim one will be in charge based on a list compiled by Mr. McCarthy. Rep. Patrick McHenry (R-N.C.), chairman of the House Financial Services Committee, is the Speaker pro tempore.
Possible names to permanently succeed Mr. McCarthy include House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.), House Majority Whip Tom Emmer (R-Minn.), and House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik (R-N.Y.). All of them expressed support for Mr. McCarthy.
While Mr. Scalise would be the logical successor, he has been battling cancer which would likely cause him to miss a significant amount of time from Congress. However, Mr. McCarthy has indicated that he would run for the gavel again, citing his unwillingness to throw in the towel. In January he won it after 15 balloting rounds.
The House GOP conference is meeting on the evening of Oct. 3. Whether anyone can secure the votes to get the gavel is unclear. (The Epoch Times) Read more here.
- Lord, we ask that whoever succeeds Mr. McCarthy be a righteous person of wisdom and truth.
- "But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy." (James 3:17)

Native Ohioan and longtime politician Jim Jordan is running for one of the top jobs in Congress. On Wednesday, Jordan announced in a letter to fellow lawmakers he intends to run for speaker.
Known as a staunch political ally to former president Donald Trump, Jordan has cultivated national popularity as a conservative firebrand. He has represented Ohio's 4th Congressional District since 2007, and under his leadership, the House Judiciary Committee launched investigations into Hunter Biden, the FBI and prosecutors that brought charges against Trump.
- Lord, we ask that Your Presence fill Mr Jordan as he works to bring America to a safe and free nation without the horrific corruption. Let wisdom from Your heart be his guide at this difficult time.

1. Israel looking to limit scope of Palestinian component of Saudi normalization deal - Times of Israel
A pair of US President Joe Biden’s top advisers paid another visit to Riyadh last week to advance negotiations toward a normalization agreement between Israel and Saudi Arabia, as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu worked to limit the scope of the Palestinian component of the deal.
White House Middle East czar Brett McGurk and energy adviser Amos Hochstein met with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, also known as MBS, and other Saudi officials, the Axios news site reported Wednesday. The White House confirmed the trip but insisted that it was part of McGurk’s and Hochstein’s routine travel and that they discussed a host of issues in addition to a potential normalization deal.
However, it was McGurk’s second visit to Riyadh in September — a month that saw Biden and Netanyahu discuss the potential deal on the UN General Assembly sidelines and MBS tell Fox News that the high-stakes agreement was getting closer every day. (Read more)

4. IDF blocks Huwara to traffic due to stone-throwing - Israel National News
The IDF took the unusual step this afternoon (Wednesday) of blocking the Arab town of Huwara in Samaria to traffic due to incidents of stone-throwing by Arabs against Jews in the area.
The road was reopened this evening after several hours.
An IDF spokesperson stated that "following several incidents of stone-throwing at Israeli vehicles traveling on the Huwara route in the last few hours, it was decided to close the route for approximately three hours to Palestinian vehicles. This was to allow the security forces to enter the area, for the sake of maintaining the security of the residents and preventing friction." (Read more)

5. Iran’s ‘Terrorist Regime’ Won’t Prevent Israel From Expanding Arab Normalization, Netanyahu Warns - Algemeiner
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday issued a stern warning to Iran and its Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, asserting that the Iranian regime won’t stop Israel from making peace agreements with Saudi Arabia and other Arab countries.
“While Khamenei’s terrorist regime exports ruin and destruction, Israel is advancing progress and peace,” Netanyahu said in a statement. “Just as Iran did not prevent us from achieving the Abraham Accords, neither will it prevent us from further expanding the circle of peace for the benefit of the citizens of Israel, the peoples of the region, and all humanity.”
The Abraham Accords were a series of historic peace agreements between Israel and Arab states brokered with the help of the former Trump administration in the US.
Netanyahu’s statement was a rejoinder to Iran after Khamenei called Israel a “cancer” and lambasted countries for trying to normalize relations with the Jewish state. (Read more)

1. Mandatory minimums, payday lending, and voting rights in first session of Supreme Court term - SCOTUSBlog
The Supreme Court will kick off its 2023-24 term on the traditional first Monday in October. The court’s October argument session will feature six arguments over five days, on topics ranging from federal sentencing laws to voting rights. And although the court did not make an official announcement, its website indicates that it plans to continue to provide live audio of oral arguments this term, allowing anyone interested in a case to listen from home.
The justices begin the new term with a dive into the weeds of statutory interpretation in Pulsifer v. United States, a case involving federal sentencing laws that – at least according to the defendant – turns on whether the word “and” in the federal law at issue means “and” or instead “or.”
Three-and-a-half years after the court heard oral argument in a challenge to the leadership structure of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, the justices will hear oral argument in a challenge to the agency’s funding mechanism. Perhaps the highest-profile case of the October argument session, Consumer Financial Protection Bureau v. Community Financial Services Association is also the first of several cases this term involving the division of authority between the three branches of government, as well as the power of administrative agencies. 2. Pastor Appreciation Month: How to Encourage and Advise Your Pastor - My Faith Votes
If Christians desire to radically transform their communities, it is essential that they be connected to a vibrant, thriving church. And a church community will only thrive when there is a healthy relationship between the congregation and its pastor. This means that a congregation must be mindful to encourage, challenge, and advise its pastor with grace and humility.
In a society that openly and proudly rejects Christianity, discouragement is an ever-present reality for pastors. By simply expressing your appreciation for their hard work and spiritual guidance, you can have a profound impact on them.
October is Pastor Appreciation Month. Take a few moments to write him a card, thanking him for faithfully leading your church, and include a gift card so he can take his family out for dinner. Small acts of kindness will have a huge impact. (Read more)

We pray Lord, that you would speak to each pastors heart, that each pastor would reject their own agenda, and choose to faithfully commit himself to you, and to your word. In Jesus' name, amen.

3. Residents of Hispanic Chicago Neighborhood Protest Opening of Migrant Shelter - Brietbart
Hispanic residents of Chicago’s Pilsen neighborhood gathered at a town hall meeting Tuesday to protest the opening of a new shelter for illegal immigrants.
During the October 3 meeting, residents blasted city officials for raising property taxes while offering free housing, healthcare, and meals to illegals and even fast-tracking work permits for border crossers, as Hispanics who have been in America for years have had to struggle on their own, the Chicago Tribune reported.
The meeting was called after city officials quietly opened a new shelter in an empty warehouse near Cermak Road and Halsted Street. The shelter was opened without notice and without any debate or local input. Residents expressed that they feel shortchanged, as the taxes they have paid into the city’s coffers are going to newcomers, whom many at the meeting felt are uninterested in finding jobs because the city gives them everything for free. We pray for our leaders that they would have an increase of wisdom and discernment to know that this is not right, that they were elected to serve their citizens and what’s best for them.

4. Biden Cancels BILLIONS in Student Loan Debt - DML News
President Biden canceled an additional $9 billion in student debt on Wednesday as repayments started up again this month after a three-year pause.
The move affects 125,000 people who qualify under existing programs, including for public-service workers such as teachers and firefighters and for people on permanent disability, according to a White House statement.
The report notes that earlier this summer, the Supreme Court struck down Biden’s larger student debt forgiveness deal, which “would have wiped out more than $400 billion in student debt for about 43 million borrowers.”
“I promised you that my Administration would continue to use every tool at our disposal to ease the burden of student debt so more Americans can be free to achieve their dreams. Today, we’re sharing an update on that progress,” Biden declared in a social media post.

5. Eric Adams Joins Chinese Officials in NYC for CCP Flag Raising on Anniversary of Mao’s Communist Rule - Brietbart
New York City Mayor Eric Adams attended Chinese government-linked festivities that included raising the red flag of China in Manhattan on Sunday, marking China’s “National Day,” the anniversary of mass murderer Mao Zedong imposing communism on the people of China.
According to the Chinese consulate in the city, Adams, New York State Assemblywoman Grace Lee, and New York City Council member Christopher Marte joined a “China Day Celebration Parade Festival” in Chinatown.
Adams’ participation in the events on October 1, the anniversary of the founding of the “People’s Republic of China,” is notable given mounting reports of Adams maintaining close ties with, including reportedly receiving financial donations from, individuals believed to be affiliated with China’s United Front Work Department (UFWD). “United Front Work” is a catchall term the Communist Party uses for foreign interference operations masquerading as cultural outreach, charity, or educational programs.

Scalise has been floated as one of the most obvious contenders to replace McCarthy, especially as he has served as the No. 2 Republican for the last 10 months. The majority leader is considered to be one of the top choices for the position, with several members calling Scalise to pledge their support, a source familiar told the Washington Examiner.

7. 75,000 health care workers walk off job in major strike across multiple states - DML News
More than 75,000 nurses, pharmacists and other employees of the Kaiser Permanente health system walked off the job Wednesday in the largest U.S. healthcare strike in recent history. The workers struck after contracts expired and their unions couldn’t reach an agreement with Kaiser on how much a new deal would increase wages and staffing.
To minimize the impact on patients, Kaiser said it would bring on temporary workers to fill some vacancies, but would, if needed, postpone some appointments and expand its network to retail pharmacies and, for some people, non-Kaiser hospitals.
The strike is scheduled to last as long as three days, the report explains.
Based out of Oakland, California, Kaiser operates 40 hospitals and over 620 medical offices across multiple states, including, California, Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Georgia, Hawaii, Maryland and Virginia. (Read more)

8. Pope Francis says 'irresponsible' Western lifestyle must change to save Earth from global warming - NBC News
Pope Francis made his strongest statements yet about climate change Wednesday, rebuking fossil fuel companies and urging countries to make an immediate transition to renewable energy.
In a new document titled “Laudate Deum,” or “Praise God,” the pope criticizes oil and gas companies for greenwashing new fossil fuel projects and calls for more ambitious efforts in the West to tackle the climate crisis. In the landmark apostolic exhortation, a form of papal writing, Francis says that “avoiding an increase of a tenth of a degree in the global temperature would already suffice to alleviate some suffering for many people.”
In “Laudate Deum,” Francis says that “the necessary transition towards clean energy sources such as wind and solar energy, and the abandonment of fossil fuels, is not progressing at the necessary speed.”
Francis takes aim at policy decisions in the West that are hindering aggressive action on climate change. In calling for nations to do more, he writes that “a broad change in the irresponsible lifestyle connected with the Western model would have a significant long-term impact.” (Read more)

Stupidocrisy: Big Alarm, No Fire
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, October 4, 2023
US Representative Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) allegedly set off a fire alarm in the Cannon House Office Building to prevent a vote on the funding bill that would keep the government operating. There are several things wrong with this. First, the Democrats have been blaming Republicans for blocking efforts to prevent a government shut-down, but they are the ones who wanted to delay a vote to avoid the shut-down. In desperation, Bowman pulls a fire alarm to delay the vote. When he’s caught, he claims that in his rush to vote, he didn’t realize that he would trigger a fire alarm if he pulled the fire alarm, then he tells reporters that he thought the alarm would open the door. But it gets even more stupid.
Breitbart reporter Matthew Boyle did some checking around and multiple sources said that Bowman “ripped down two signs warning a second floor door in the Cannon House Office Building was for emergency use only before pulling the fire alarm and running out through a different door on a different floor.” Boyle reports, “In the photos of the double doors with glass windows, there are clearly two giant red signs on the door—they both say “EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY—PUSH UNTIL ALARM SOUNDS (3 SECONDS) DOOR WILL UNLOCK IN 30 SECONDS.” There is also another sign on a stand in front of the door that makes it clear this is an “EMERGENCY EXIT ONLY.”” Bowman tried to get out the door. When it didn’t open, he pulled the fire alarm. When the fire alarm went off, he turned and ran down the hall and out another door. Read More

2,300-year-old tomb found in Israel may contain
remains of Greek courtesan
|
|
Archaeologists in Israel have discovered what they believe to be the remains of an Ancient Greek courtesan.
The cremated remains of a young woman were found in a burial cave alongside a perfectly preserved bronze box mirror on a rocky slope close to Kibbutz Ramat Rachel, not far from Jerusalem.
The tomb is believed to date back to some time between the late 4th century and early 3rd century BCE, according to a joint study carried out by Tel Aviv University and the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA).
Guy Stiebel, from the department of archeology and the Ancient Near East at Tel Aviv University, told CNN in a phone interview that the find is “very significant.”
“It’s almost like bringing back to life a woman who passed away 2,300 years ago,” he said of the research, which he compared to a “jigsaw puzzle or riddle.”
He and his team believe this could be the first discovery of the remains of a hetaira, as courtesans were known in Ancient Greece.
“If we are correct with our interpretation, it appears that this burial points to the very unique circumstances of what we call a hetaira, a Greek lady who accompanied one of the Hellenistic government officials, or more likely a high general,” he said.
In the Middle East and eastern Mediterranean, the Hellenistic age refers to the period between the death of Alexander the Great in 323 BCE and the conquest of Egypt by Rome in 30 BCE. Stiebel told CNN that he and his team believe the woman would have been among the first Greeks to arrive in the region. Read More

'God Doing Something Unusual':
Revival, Salvations, Baptisms Ongoing in Tiny Kentucky Town
|
|
The small town of Slaughters, Kentucky, (pop. 186) is experiencing what has been described as "God doing something unusual" among the area's young people after a few days of unrest occurred at the local high school just a few weeks ago. Several fights reportedly broke out at the Webster County High School over a 5-day period in September. Officials said the unrest was instigated by students through social media, according to The Journal-Enterprise. The incident left even veteran school officials exasperated. "In my 19 years, I don't think I have ever seen any quite like what we saw last week," Webster County Schools Superintendent Aaron Harrell told the outlet. The unrest at the local high school began right before the Mt. Gilead General Baptist Church had scheduled its annual Disciple Now event for the rural area's young people. According to Tyler Feller, the church's part-time teaching pastor and the congregation rallied together and started an online intercession schedule. They began praying for a meaningful breakthrough during the upcoming youth event focused on teaching the foundations of faith.
In a series of emails with CBN News, Feller shared that the church has since seen a youth revival that began on Sept. 15. The scheduled event has morphed into what is now known as the Unashamed Kentucky Youth Revival. "Our gatherings are around 250 people on off nights. On church nights, Sunday and Wednesday, we've had around 300. This is a lot for the size of the town," Feller explained. "We had 27 more salvations tonight and 17 baptisms. That brings our total to 87 saved and 53 baptized. Huge crowd," the teaching pastor reported on Friday. There have also been reports of high school students worshipping together before school, and writing Bible verses on Post-It notes, leaving them to encourage their fellow students. Photos have also been posted to social media of teenagers at various locations in the small town holding up signs to passing vehicles that read, "Jesus Loves You," "Jesus Christ is Lord," and "Jesus Died for You."
