Linemen Working Nonstop After Hurricane Helene Take a Momen of Rest at Beloved South Carolina Chapel

Hurricane Helene wreaked havoc on YMCA Camp Greenville in Cleveland, South Carolina, with significant wind damage resulting in fallen trees and flying debris that took down power lines and struck buildings.

Fifteen days after the storm ripped through the Blue Ridge Mountains, power was finally restored to the property thanks to dozens of linemen, from local Sumter Utilities to Gagnon Lines Construction out of Canada.

Many of the men on the crew are retired line workers who sign up to help in emergency power restoration efforts after big storms. They have been working tirelessly across the Southeast since day one of recovery efforts.  Continue reading

“When they restored the power, it restored a whole lot of hope to us here,” Cory Harrison, YMCA Camp Greenville’s Vice President of Overnight Camping tells Southern Living. Read more

- Abba, we celebrate 'Pretty Place Chapel' and the powerful image of linemen standing beside a beautiful wooden cross that survived the hurricane! Bless volunteers who came to work as a team to restore electricity and bring joy to an area in desperate need. We thank You for the miraculous timing of full-restoration, as the team was able to provide power quicker than normal expectations. May this symbolic photo revealing genuine love shown through action remain as a forever reminder of Christ's HOPE, PROMISE and FAITHFULNESS to His people and the citizens of America. In Jesus mighty Name-Amen.

Georgia Early Voting Surpasses 1 Million

More than 1 million people have voted in the battleground state of Georgia in the first four days of early voting, according to Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office.

“We have done it! We crossed the 1,000,000 voter mark at around 11:50am. Amazing turnout! So happy for the counties and the voters! Let’s keep it going,” Gabriel Sterling, the agency’s chief operating officer, said in an Oct. 18 post on social media.
Several days prior, Sterling said that the pace of early voting in Georgia was breaking records and on Thursday stated that “massive” voter turnout put the state on pace to surpass the 1 million early votes cast mark on Friday. Read more

Hezbollah Drone Targets Netanyahu's Caesarea Home: He says "Agents of Iran Tried to Assassinate me"

A drone fired by Hezbollah from Lebanon that exploded in the central seaside town of Caesarea early on Saturday targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s private home, his office said.

The premier and his wife were not present and no injuries were reported.

The short statement from Netanyahu’s office came after the IDF said that “a building had been hit” in the upscale town famous for its swanky villas and Roman ruins and amphitheater.

On Saturday evening Netanyahu said in a statement: “The agents of Iran who tried to assassinate me and my wife today made a bitter mistake.” He said the attack would not deter him from continuing the war, and that anyone who harms Israelis will pay “a heavy price.”

We will continue to eliminate your terrorists, we will return our hostages from Gaza, we will return our residents in the north,” he promised. Read more

We praise You, too, Yeshua. that the mastermind behind the October 7 massacre has been eliminated!  We pray now that thousands and thousands of Hamas terrorists would lay down their arms, surrender and turn themselves in. We pray that those who are holding hostages would RELEASE the hostages and send them home to their families in Israel. May the fear of the God of Israel be in Hamas' hearts. May they shake in their boots and no longer terrorize the Jews!  In Jesus name, amen!

2. Commander of IDF’s 401st Armored Brigade killed in battle in northern Gaza - Times of Israel

The commander of the Israel Defense Force’s 401st Armored Brigade, Col. Ehsan Daqsa, was killed during fighting in the northern Gaza Strip on Sunday, the military announced.

Daqsa, 41, from the Druze town of Daliyat al-Karmel, was one of the most senior officers to have been killed in the fighting in Gaza. In all, six IDF colonels have been killed in the fighting, four of them during the October 7 onslaught.

An IDF probe into the death of Daqsa found that he was outside his tank with other officers when they were hit by an explosive device in Jabaliya, as part of an ongoing offensive there against Hamas. (Read more)

Defense Minister Yoav Gallant called to enter into the next stage of the war during a Sunday situational assessment with the 98th Divison at the northern border, the Defense Ministry reported.

The meeting came as the IDF reported ongoing operational activity in southern Lebanon. During the situational assessment, Gallant and the 98th Division reviewed the progress of the IDF up until now.

4. Israel Intensifies Offensive in Gaza, Lebanon After Hamas leader’s Death - Algemeiner

Many were dead or missing following the airstrike on Beit Lahiya in northern Gaza late on Saturday, the health ministry in the Palestinian territory said. Israel said it was investigating reports of the incident.

It marked an intensification of Israel’s offensives against Palestinian terrorist group Hamas in Gaza and Iran-backed Hezbollah in Lebanon, days after the killing of Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar had raised hopes of an opening for ceasefire negotiations to end more than a year of escalating conflict in the Middle East.

With US elections approaching, officials, diplomats and other sources in the region say Israel is seeking through military operations to try to shield its borders and ensure its rivals cannot regroup. (Read more)

1. Secret Service ‘complacent’ before Trump shooting, independent panel recommends overhaul - USA Today

WASHINGTON – The Secret Service has become bureaucratic and complacent and an overhaul is needed, according to an independent review released Thursday of the first assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump. Trump, the Republican presidential nominee, was shot in the ear July 13 during a political rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. A spectator was killed before a Secret Service sniper killed the gunman.

The Secret Service acknowledged failing in its mission to protect the former president, and acting director Ronald Rowe vowed changes. A Senate report also blasted the agency's performance.

President Joe Biden’s administration launched the independent review that criticized the Secret Service and recommended a number of changes.“The Secret Service has become bureaucratic, complacent and static even though risks have multiplied and technology has evolved,” the report said. “Without that reform, the Independent Review Panel believes another Butler can and will happen again.” (Read more)
- Lord, we do pray that the secret Service will have a complete overhaul. They are falling down on their job, and we pray this organization will be reformed. Send leadership to this organization that can get it back to a well performing team to serve and protect.

- "But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one." (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

2. 3 states renew efforts to limit abortion pill access - The Hill

Missouri, Kansas and Idaho have renewed their efforts to restrict access to the abortion drug mifepristone, filing a joint amended lawsuit against the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The lawsuit was filed in a Texas federal court Friday, roughly four months after the Supreme Court decided against undoing changes to the FDA’s regulations on the abortion pill that expanded access — such as allowing it to be mailed without an in-person doctor’s visit.

In the suit, the states’ attorneys general are requesting the drug’s use to be banned after seven weeks of pregnancy instead of 10 and for federal regulators to require three in-person doctor’s office visits before people can access the drug.

The lawsuit is also challenging the FDA’s approval of generic versions of the drug. (Read more here)

Lord, we thank you for this lawsuit against the FDA. We pray that these restrictions will be approved in the use of this abortion pill.

3. New Migrant Caravan Approaching US-Mexico Border - Newsweek

A new migrant caravan of about 1,000 people is reportedly traveling through Mexico en route to the southern United States border.

The group, which left on October 13, is headed from Tapachula, Chiapas, on Mexico's southern border, to Mexico City. Following their arrival, the group is anticipated to disperse and seek various routes to reach the United States.

The migrant caravan, named God Guides Us, includes people from Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, Central America, Haiti, Argentina, Panama, Costa Rica, Afghanistan, and Nepal, according to La Verdad.

Immigration is a key motive for voters in the U.S. election this November, with polls suggesting that former president Donald Trump is trusted more than Vice President Kamala Harris on the issue. (Read more)

- Lord, we pray the American people will vote on this issue, and we know that Donald Trump is the man for the job to secure the border. We just pray favor this November. Have mercy upon us and give us a strong leader.

4. Venezuela Arrests Four Americans for Alleged Anti-Maduro Coup Plot - Breitbart

Venezuelan Interior Minister Diosdado Cabello announced on Thursday the arrest of four American citizens accused by the socialist regime of “hacking” Venezuelan infrastructure and “plotting” to overthrow dictator Nicolás Maduro.

The four detained Americans were identified by Cabello as Gregory David Weber, David Gutenberg Guillaume, Jonathan Pagan González, and Jorge Marcelo Vargas.

Cabello, without presenting evidence to substantiate his accusations, claimed that the detained Americans are part of a broader “mercenary group” allegedly linked to the CIA and Spain’s National Intelligence Centre (CNI). (Read more)

- Lord, we pray that Venezuela will provide the evidence for these arrests. We do pray that these American citizens will be released and brought back to the United States to investigate the evidence.

6. Early Vote Numbers in North Carolina Strong for Republicans - Breitbart

Early voting numbers in North Carolina are strong for Republicans — traditionally speaking — according to the latest data.

“Day 1 of North Carolina early voting saw an 18-POINT SHIFT FOR REPUBLICANS from the first day in 2020,” Eric Daugherty of Florida’s Voice said following the first full day of early voting in the swing state. He added further context as well, noting that the first day of early voting is “supposed to be the Democrats’ day.”

Data is also showing a massive shift in terms of in person early voters in the state who did not vote in the last election. In fact, it appears the Democrat percentage has decreased from 36.9 percent in 2022 to 32 percent in 2024, while Republicans went from 26.5 percent in 2022 to 34 percent in 2024. (Read more)

- Thank you, Lord, for the support in North Carolina as one of the swing states. We pray that the numbers continue to grow as the election nears.

- "keep the charge of the Lord your God: to walk in His ways, to keep His statutes, His commandments, His judgments, and His testimonies, as it is written in the Law of Moses, that you may prosper in all that you do and wherever you turn;"

Tracking Tropical Storm Nadine and Hurricane Oscar
The 2024 Atlantic hurricane season is here, and the latest storm system that escalated quickly is Hurricane Oscar. Oscar marks the 10th hurricane of the season, which was formed on Sunday morning from a storm. It has brought drastic weather conditions to the Turks and Caicos and will bring stormy weather to parts of the Bahamas and eastern Cuba. The National Hurricane Center is issuing continuous warnings for people to stay safe amid the bad weather.

Per NBC-2, Oscar was moving west at 12 mph, but its maximum sustained winds were moving at 85 mph. After passing over Grand Turk in the Turks and Caicos on Saturday evening, Oscar is expected to reach the southeastern Bahamas and eastern Cuba by Monday.

Continuous warnings are being issued as the Hurrican Hunters have allegedly found Oscar to be much more intense than originally thought. However, its comparatively smaller size will hardly allow drastic changes in intensity.

The state of Florida, USA, is expected to experience little to no impact from the hurricane. (Read more)
- Lord God, we thank You that the State of Florida will be spared the wrath of this storm. Help us, O Lord, with all that is happening in the news these days, to not lose track of these dangerous weather patterns, and to intercede accordingly. We praise You, O God, for You are the maker of the heavens and the earth. In Your Name, amen.

- "He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Then the wind died down and it was completely calm." (Mark 4:39)

2. Biden-Harris Policies Ignited Global Chaos: WW3 Fears Rise as 2024 Election Nears - Breitbart

As the 2024 election approaches, the Biden-Harris administration’s foreign policy has left the world in utter chaos and teetering on the brink of World War III — from the disastrous Afghanistan withdrawal to the Israel-Hamas war — all while Russia, China, and Iran, once restrained under Trump’s tough stance, are emboldened, raising concerns that a Harris term would spell irreversible disaster. 4. Youngkin: DOJ Is Suing VA over ‘Common Sense’ Law that Cuts Noncitizens from Voter Rolls - Breitbart

Governor Glenn Youngkin (R-VA) said on this week’s broadcast of “Fox News Sunday” that the Department of Justice was suing his state over a “common sense” law that removes noncitizens from voter rolls.

Youngkin said, “To be clear, this is not a purge. This is based on a law that was signed into effect in 2006 by then-Democrat Gov. Tim Kaine. And it starts with a basic premise that when someone walks into one of our DMVs and self-identifies as a noncitizen, and then they end up on the voter rolls, either purposely or by accident, that we go through a process, individualized – not system, not systematic – an individualized process based on that person’s self-identification as a noncitizen to give them 14 days to affirm they are a citizen and if they don’t, they come off the voter rolls. And by the way, they have one last safeguard, which is they can come and same day register and cast a provisional ballot. So to describe this as something as a purge is wholly inaccurate.” (Read more)

Jerusalem in its glory: Reconstructing the Sukkot pilgrimage to the Second Temple
“One who did not see Jerusalem in its glory,” says the Talmud, “never saw a truly beautiful city.” The glory of Jerusalem was undoubtedly at its height during Sukkot, when thousands of Jews throughout Israel and the Diaspora went to Jerusalem to visit the Temple and bring festive sacrifices during their visit.

Two thousand years after the destruction of the Temple, it is difficult – even for those familiar with the Mishnaic and Talmudic texts that describe the holiday – to truly comprehend what life was like at that time. The vast technological and scientific advancements, the political and social changes that have taken place in the past 2,000 years, the pace of life, modes of travel, and the entire religious experience of visiting the Temple and bringing animal sacrifices are vastly different from our contemporary understanding.

While the model of the Temple at the Israel Museum and the 3D Virtual Tour of the Temple offered at the Western Wall provide us with an idea of what Jerusalem looked like 2,000 years ago, let’s try to abandon the hi-tech look and use our powers of imagination to understand what the process of aliyah la’regel – the ascent to Jerusalem for the holiday –  might have been like.
