The U.S. is ready to play': President Biden presses China's Xi to find 'ways to work together'
|
|
President Joe Biden said he remains hopeful that the U.S. and China can work together during a Monday meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
"The world expects, I believe, China and the United States to play key roles in addressing global challenges from climate change to food insecurity and for us to be able to work together," Biden told Xi. "The United States stands ready to do just that – work with you – if that's what you desire.”
The meeting between the leaders of the world's two largest economies is happening on the sidelines of the G-20 Summit, which is being held this year on the resort island of Bali.
Leaders were expected to discuss simmering tensions between China and Taiwan – a self-governed island that Xi has a strong desire to bring under mainland control – as well as Russia's war in Ukraine, which will soon enter its ninth month.
China has been irked by the United States' close relationship with Taiwan. Beijing responded to an August visit by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to the island by firing missiles into the Taiwan Strait. The nation has also been put in an undeniably difficult position by Russia over Ukraine.

Biden, Xi meet amid superpower tensions
|
|
"We have very little misunderstanding," Biden told reporters in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, where he participated in a gathering of southeast Asian nations before leaving for Indonesia. "We just got to figure out where the red lines are and ... what are the most important things to each of us going into the next two years."
|
|
President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping opened their first in-person meeting Monday since the US president took office nearly two years ago, amid increasing economic and security tensions between the two superpowers as they compete for global influence.
Xi and Biden greeted each other with a handshake at a luxury resort hotel in Indonesia, where they are attending the Group of 20 summit of large economies. As they began their conversation, Biden said he and Xi have a "responsibility" to show that their nations can "manage our differences" and identify areas of mutual cooperation. Xi added that he hoped the pair would "elevate the relationship" and that he was prepared to have a "candid and in-depth exchange of views" with Biden.
Both men entered the highly anticipated meeting with bolstered political standing at home. Democrats triumphantly held onto control of the US Senate, with a chance to boost their ranks by one in a runoff election in Georgia next month, while Xi was awarded a third five-year term in October by the Communist Party's national congress, a break with tradition.

Incoming freshman lawmakers arrive to chaos on Capitol Hill
|
|
Incoming freshman lawmakers arrived in Washington for orientation on Sunday facing a chaotic week ahead, with the fate of the majority in the House still in flux and uncertainty about what the leadership makeup will look like as they brace for life in the new Congress.
While neither party has secured the majority, House Republicans are scheduled to hold their leadership elections on Tuesday despite pushback from rank-and-file members and conservative outside groups.
|
|
Leadership races have become increasingly heated after the GOP fell significantly short of the red wave it projected. House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s (R-CA) bid to become the next speaker is on much shakier ground as the House Freedom Caucus demands rules changes — including easing the process to vacate the chair, a procedure that allows members to oust a sitting speaker — in exchange for support, with some voicing that they likely won’t back the California Republican regardless of the concessions he provides.
|
|
Sources confirmed that former House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) is slated to launch a bid against McCarthy in an effort to weaken the leader’s standing despite not having the support needed to secure the gavel himself.
The three-way race between National Republican Congressional Committee Chairman Tom Emmer (R-MN), Republican Study Committee Chairman Jim Banks (R-IN), and Chief Deputy Whip Drew Ferguson (R-GA) to become the next House Republican whip has also become increasingly competitive due to the razor-thin margin the GOP faces.
The future GOP lawmakers, and a handful who remain candidates and ultimately won’t be sworn in next January, are slated to hear from leadership candidates during a forum on Monday, with a vote to take place on Tuesday. (Washington Examiner) Read more.

1. '400 seconds' to Tel Aviv: Iranian media publishes Hebrew hypersonic missile threat - Jerusalem Post
Iran’s Sobh-e-Sadegh newspaper published a threat in Hebrew on its front page on Monday, warning that a new Iranian hypersonic missile could reach Israel in 400 seconds.
“400 seconds: General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Aerospace Force, said that Iran has obtained technology for hypersonic missiles,” wrote the newspaper, which is affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
An article written by Hamza Pariyab, described as a defense expert, said the new missile was a “game changer,” as it can avoid most modern-day missile-defense systems.
The missile could be used to take out a country’s defense systems and open the way for a mass launch of drones and missiles, he wrote. (Read more)

2. Netanyahu said to offer Deri defense minister, wants to give Smotrich treasury - Times of Israel
Likud leader Benjamin Netanyahu is reportedly trying to convince Shas leader Aryeh Deri to take the defense portfolio in order to avoid giving it to far-right Religious Zionism chairman Bezalel Smotrich who has been keen on assuming the senior post.
Coalition negotiations are stuck over Smotrich’s demand to become defense minister, Channel 12 reported Monday, which said Netanyahu prefers to let him head the Finance Ministry.
Netanyahu met with Deri for several hours on Monday, during which he proposed appointing him defense minister, the network said, without citing a source. (Read more)

3. Smotrich increases pressure on Netanyahu to make him defense minister - Times of Israel
Religious Zionism party leader Bezalel Smotrich intensified his pressure on Likud party chief Benjamin Netanyahu to give him the post of defense minister in the likely upcoming government, meeting a series of retired military generals and getting a rabbinical stamp of approval for his demand.
As coalition negotiations were heating up following the triumph of Netanyahu’s right-wing religious bloc of parties in this month’s elections, sources from Smotrich’s Religious Zionism have said the far-right party is demanding the defense, education and religious affairs portfolios.
Netanyahu is said to be reluctant to hand Smotrich the Defense Ministry, aiming to keep it for a member of his own party, in which case multiple reports have named Likud MK Yoav Gallant — a former IDF major general — as the top contender. (Read more)

4. MBS & King Abdullah keep Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine alive - Israel National News
Non-participation by Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister – Mohammad Bin Salman (MBS) – and Jordan’s King Abdullah at the 31st Summit of the Arab League held in Algiers on 1 and 2 November – even via Zoom - was highly significant – signalling that the Saudi-based plan to merge Jordan, Gaza and part of the 'West Bank' into one territorial entity to be called the Hashemite Kingdom of Palestine (HKoP solution) still remains a viable solution to replace the failed 20 years-old two-state solution proposed by the 2002 Arab Peace Initiative (API) - endorsed yet again in Algiers.
Saudi Arabia, the EU, and the Arab League had previously held a closed ministerial meeting on 21 September to activate the API - given the absence of any prospect for a political resolution to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
This September meeting followed publication of the HKoP solution in Al Arabiya News on 8 June – amazingly attracting no mention at the UN and scant attention in the international media and more importantly within Israel and Israel’s media. (Read more)

5. Israel green-lights gas field off Gaza, but concerned Hamas will use revenue for terror - World Israel News
It was 22 years ago that PLO chairman and arch-terrorist Yasser Arafat appeared on Palestinian television to announce the discovery of natural gas off the coast of Gaza.
Arafat described the discovery as “a gift from God” to the Palestinian people, smiling from the bridge of a fishing boat. “This will provide a solid foundation for our economy, for establishing an independent state with holy Jerusalem as its capital,” he said.
But instead of working to create a Palestinian state, Arafat launched the Second Intifada, and the gas field was closed.
Now, the Gaza Marine gas field, 20 nautical miles (23 statute miles) offshore, might once again be ready for exploitation, after the interim Israeli government led by Prime Minister Yair Lapid, a day before Israel’s Nov. 1 election, approved a deal between Egyptian, Israeli and Palestinian officials. 1.Catholic archdiocese defends policy to not admit children who reject their biological sex | Fox News
The Catholic Archdiocese of Denver in Colorado is being forced to defend its policies against admitting students who reject their biological sex.
The archdiocese came under fire after a Nov. 7 article in The Denver Post outlined the school system's policy advising against enrollment of self-identified transgender students.
The policy is outlined in a 2019 document offering guidance to administrators on navigating Church teaching on hot-button issues.
Other policy guidelines include not promoting or funding groups that encourage "an LGBTQ identity (rather than embracing their primary identity as a child of God.)"
- Lord, we thank You that this Archdiocese has been standing firm against the pressure to deny biological sexes. We pray that they will not falter in that stance.
- “Sanctify them in the truth; Your word is truth.” (John 17:17)

2.Kari Lake slams Dem opponent for not recusing herself as election chief despite run: 'Major ethical problem' | Fox News
Republican Arizona gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake took issue with her Democratic opponent not recusing herself as Arizona’s chief election officer amid days of election officials counting ballots.
"We called for her to recuse herself July of last year of 2021, right after we got into the race, recognizing that there's a major ethical problem there. Obviously, just the optics of it looks bad. And she didn't do that," Kari Lake said on Fox News’ "Sunday Morning Futures with Maria Bartiromo."
"Even though many people been calling for her to recuse herself, it creates problems to say the least," Lake continued.
Lake is up against Democrat Katie Hobbs, Arizona's secretary of state, who currently has roughly 34,000 more votes than Lake at more than 88% of the votes counted. The state has been counting ballots since Tuesday evening and still has not determined the winner of the gubernatorial election.
- Lord, the appearance of evil is often as deadly as the evil itself. We ask that this Democrat see the truth – may she see the truth and be convicted so that she will repent.
- “Repent therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out.” (Acts 3:19)

3.Biden Admin To Extend COVID-19 Public Health Emergency Into April 2023 | The Daily Caller
The United States Department of Health and Human Services did not inform states or healthcare providers of any intent to lift the COVID public health emergency by its Friday deadline, extending the emergency into at least January.
In October, HHS extended the COVID public health emergency to January 11. HHS Secretary Xavier Becerra has promised to give 60 days notice before lifting the declaration to allow preparation for a return to normal operations.
A declaration of a public health emergency affects American’s access to health insurance. Up to 15 million people will be unenrolled from Medicaid and Children’s Health Insurance Programs if the declaration is lifted. A public health emergency also makes it easier to access vaccines against COVID-19.
- Lord, the emergency declaration also placed many people on the Medicare rolls that were not actual beneficiaries, and cost billions of taxpayer dollars. We ask for a revamping of priorities for the Biden Administration.
- “In their case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelievers, to keep them from seeing the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.” (2 Corinthians 4:4)

4.Federal Judge Strikes Down A Key Part Of President Biden’s Transgender Agenda | The Daily Caller
A federal judge has reversed a Biden Administration rule that directed the Department of Health and Human Services to increase access to sex change surgeries and hormone therapies, including to children, in a Friday ruling.
Biden’s HHS said in May 2021 that it would interpret a section of the Affordable Care Act, which bars doctors from discriminating on the basis of sex, as covering sexual orientation and gender identity. Two doctors represented by the America First Legal Foundation brought a class action lawsuit against the Biden administration after the HHS took the action, arguing that the rule would interfere with their ability to properly practice medicine.
The judge argued that the Biden administration’s interpretation of Title IX to include “gender identity,” was faulty and could not be changed until Congress passed a law to that effect, or the Supreme Court ruled otherwise.
- Lord, we thank You for this ruling that may protect doctors from doing things against their beliefs, and Title IX, which may protect women’s sports. We pray that Congress will not be able pass any legislation to destroy either doctors or women in sports.
“But the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.” (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

5.US Looks To South Korea To Fill Ammunition Backlog After Sending Nearly A Billion Rounds To Ukraine | The Daily Caller
The U.S. has for the first time struck a deal with South Korea to purchase thousands of rounds of 155mm ammunition, offsetting diminished domestic stocks after the U.S. has supplied Ukraine with nearly one billion rounds of the powerful munitions, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Routing the deal through the U.S. will allow South Korea to maintain the appearance of avoiding complicity in Ukraine’s attacks on Russian forces while providing the nearly 100,000 rounds to Ukraine, according to the WSJ, which cited U.S. officials familiar with the matter. A senior official confirmed that the shells are destined for Ukraine if the deal is finalized, as U.S. stockpiles have cratered over recent months, Reuters reported.
The level of 155mm combat rounds, fired by the howitzer weapons system, in U.S. stockpiles had become “uncomfortably low,” a Pentagon official told the WSJ in August. The ammunition deficit has cratered even further as of November, the outlet reported.
- Lord, we pray that You will increase our stores of ammunition and necessary weapons in case of major war, and prevent the Biden administration from taking away from it.
- “For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.” (Mark 7: 21-22)

6.400 Private Jets Land in Egypt for COP27 UN Climate Conference (breitbart.com)
With tens of thousands of elites descending upon the Red Sea resort town of Sharm El Sheikh for the UN COP27 climate conference, some 400 private jets have been witnessed landing in the Egyptian city.
The COP27 climate change summit, which was too hypocritical for even Greta Thunberg to attend, has been beset with accusations of elitism and double standards.
This was further confirmed on Friday, when the Agence France-Presse (AFP) news agency reported that over 400 private jets have landed in the Egyptian coastal city over the past few days while the conference is being held.
- Lord, the hypocrisy of all the so-called elites is staggering. We ask that their agenda fall to the wayside, and let nothing they plan come to fruition.
- “You hypocrites! Well did Isaiah prophesy of you, when he said: “‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me; in vain do they worship me, teaching as doctrines the commandments of men.’” (Matthew 15: 7-9)

7.Biden Launches Multimillion-Dollar ‘Climate Gender Equity Fund’ (breitbart.com)
President Joe Biden announced the launch of his multimillion-dollar “Climate Gender Equity Fund” to address purported inequalities women face in climate finance at the United Nations COP 27 climate conference in Egypt on Friday.
The Climate Gender Equity Fund will “leverage private sector contributions to help provide women climate leaders with technical skills, networks, and capital to develop and scale climate solutions,” according to a White House statement.
The program will have initial seed funding of $6 million, with the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) matching e-commerce giant Amazon’s $3 million investment.
- Lord, we pray that You will judge these narratives and ideas that seem wrong-headed. We pray that Your truth will prevail over these expenditures, and turn the people back to You!
- “For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” (Ecclesiates 12:14)

8.Days After Election, Joe Biden Extends 'Temporary' Amnesty to 305K Foreign Nationals in U.S. (breitbart.com)
President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is extending temporary amnesty status to hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals from a variety of countries living in the United States who would otherwise be eligible for deportation.
Just a few days after Tuesday’s midterm elections, Biden’s DHS filed an automatic extension in the federal register that will allow more than 305,000 foreign nationals from El Salvador, Honduras, Haiti, Nepal, Nicaragua, and Sudan to remain in the U.S. and hold American jobs.
The bulk, about 194,000, are nationals from El Salvador.
- Lord, this action reveals the deception of the Biden administration. We pray that You will rescue our nation from the plans of the enemy, and save Your people from harm.
- “The salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; he is their stronghold in the time of trouble.” (Psalm 37:39)

9.Stacey Abrams Compares Her Loss to the Sufferings of the Early Church (breitbart.com)
Twice failed Democrat gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams apparently believes her defeat in Georgia is as monumental as the sufferings of the early church, making the comparison during her concession speech Tuesday night.
“I am too reminded of what scripture tells us,” the pro-abortion Democrat said, quoting from 2 Corinthians.
“We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed. We are perplexed, but not in despair. Persecuted but not forsaken. Cast down, but not destroyed,” she said, essentially comparing her election loss to the sufferings of the early church.
“I know the results are what we hoped for tonight, and I understand that you are hurting and you were disappointed I am too. We may not have made it to the finish line, but we ran that race, and we know this path. And we know that running is what matters. That standing is what matters. That defending is what matters,” she added.
Abrams conveniently left out the first portion of 2 Corinthians 4, which talks about the light of the gospel and how it cannot be shaken or tampered with.
- Lord, we pray that You will bring truth to those who attempt to use Your Word for their own ends.
- “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15)

10.Documentary says use of 'homosexual' in the Bible is a mistake | Entertainment News (christianpost.com)
A new documentary claims that a “mistranslation” of the Bible is to blame for Christians believing that homosexuality is a sin.
The film, 1946: The Mistranslation That Shifted Culture, directed by self-identified “lesbian Christian” Sharon “Rocky” Roggio, attempts to chronicle how the word “homosexual” came to be used in the pages in Scripture and purports to offer “recently unearthed evidence that challenges deeply-held beliefs about LGBTQ+ people and their place in God’s kingdom.”
According to Roggio, the word homosexual did not appear in any version of the Bible until 1946, when translators for the Revised Standard Version (RSV) used it in their translation of 1 Corinthians 6:9.
The filmmaker argues that translators chose to use the word homosexual for the Greek words malakoi and arsenokoitai, which, according to the film’s website, “translate loosely” to “effeminacy” and “pervert” or “sexual pervert.”
- Lord, when sin becomes “normal” in a society, serious problems arise, especially when people attempt to use the Word of God to justify their actions. We must have a wave of repentance across America. We ask for the flood of Your Holy Spirit to bring conviction of sin, righteousness, and judgment.
- “And when He comes, He will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment.” (John 16:8)

Reform or tyranny
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, November 14, 2022
Politically, he must be the greatest president ever. Here is a guy who has run the country amuck with an energy crisis, inflation crisis, foreign policy crisis, crime crisis, border security crisis-you name it and it’s going wrong. Three-quarters of Americans exiting the polls said they were angry about the direction of the country. Yet, the Joe Biden-led Democratic Party defied history by losing the fewest mid-term elections in recent memory. Former Democrat boss, Barack Obama faired far worse in his mid-terms. In fact, most every president in modern history lost more seats than Biden’s party, even when the country was headed in the right direction.
House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) told ABC’s “This Week,” “President Biden has been a great president for our country. He has accomplished so much.” Yes, he has. He has continued the trend of his party toward ruining everything the Constitution means, the way of life of our nation, the moral fabric of our country, the safety of our children from sexual predators, the labeling as terrorists of parents trying to protect their children, a commitment to kill babies in the womb, open borders, wealth redistribution. This country is becoming exactly what Pelosi, Biden and their party want—a remake of America, continuing the Obama mantra. Isn’t it interesting how all this happened among predictions of a turnaround from the status quo? Yet, here we are a week after the election and it looks like there is little change. Read More

Managers Proceed Toward Nov. 16 Launch, to Meet Monday
|
|
The Artemis I mission management team met Sunday evening to review the status of preparations for launch and gave a “go” to proceed toward a Nov. 16 launch attempt. The team will meet again Monday afternoon to review additional analysis associated with caulk on Orion’s launch abort system that came loose during Hurricane Nicole. The two-hour window for launch opens at 1:04 a.m. EST Wednesday. The countdown clock will begin at 1:54 a.m. Monday.
Within the next day, engineers will conduct detailed analysis of several feet of delaminated caulk where the ogive on Orion’s launch abort system meets the crew module adapter. The analysis will assess risk should it come loose during launch.
Overnight, in parallel with launch preparations, technicians also will remove and replace a component of an electrical connector on the hydrogen tail service mast umbilical ground-side plate. Engineers continue to see some inconsistent data provided through the connector, despite replacing the cable to the connector earlier in the week. Engineers have redundant sources for the information provided through the connector and it is not an impediment to launch.
NASA will provide a prelaunch status update Monday afternoon after the mission management team reconvenes. Read More

Greg Laurie's Harvest Revival Sees 8,600 Declarations for Christ
|
|
Angel Stadium in Anaheim, California, played host to thousands of heavenly occurrences the weekend of Nov. 5-6. The Lord showed up in amazing fashion at Pastor Greg Laurie's SoCal Harvest event. With almost 50,000 people in attendance, over 8,600 gave their lives to Jesus Christ and made Him their Savior and Lord. The Christian Post reported that over 160,000 people tuned in online, and the event also was broadcast across approximately 600 social media pages and radio stations. The event featured a phenomenal lineup of musicians to usher in the Lord's presence.
Laurie preached a message that pointed the cause of change in his life right back toward God's amazing love and power: "God changed the course of my life, and He can do that for you," Laurie says. The message Laurie wanted to get across to the hundreds of thousands who were listening was clear: Jesus Christ is the only hope that this world has. "My hope tonight is not in politicians or world leaders. It's not in technology, money or possessions. It's not even in religion," Lauries says. "What we are all looking for is not something you hold in your hand. It's something that happens in your heart in a relationship with God through Jesus Christ."
This year's theme for the event was "Jesus Revolution," based on the movement in the 1960s and 70s that influenced Laurie himself and is the basis of an upcoming film by the same name. "I am honored to have such a talented, venerated cast and crew tell this story that is so near to my heart and changed my life and our country for eternity," he said. "The Jesus Movement was the last great American spiritual awakening. Some historians have said it was the greatest revival of all time. Now, I'm praying for another in our time." SENATE WILL VOTE TOMORROW ON
THE "RESECT FOR MARRIAGE" ACT -
WHICH MEANS RESPECT FOR LGBTQ MARRIAGE ACT
|
|
|
Earlier last evening, Senator Schumer filed cloture on the motion to proceed to H.R. 8404, the Respect for Marriage Act. A vote in the Senate is expected on Wednesday. Today, a bipartisan group of members released a summary and updated text, which is substantially similar to the amendment that was released in September. The amended text lacks sufficient protections for religious liberty.
As you likely know, this bill would amend federal law to require that full faith and credit be given to any marriage recognized by the state in which it was performed, including same-sex marriages. It provides for enforcement by the Attorney General and a private right of action.
In July, the House passed H.R. 8404 by a vote of 267-157. Congress previously defined marriage in the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) in 1996. Part of DOMA was struck down in 2013 in United States v. Windsor, and the rest in Obergefell v. Hodges, which held that the Fourteenth Amendment requires a state to license a marriage between two people of the same sex and to recognize a marriage between two people of the same sex when their marriage was lawfully licensed and performed out-of-state.
|
|
- Father God, we are grieved that this legislation will now come to a vote on the Senate floor tomorrow. Forgive us, Holy One, for we have lost our way. We stand united against the passage of this bill, and we ask You to forgive all who support it, for they know not what they do. In Your Name we offer this prayer, amen and amen.
- "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do." (Luke 23:34)

Higher Ground
To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE
Words: Johnson Oatman
Music: Charles Gabriel
Scripture: Let us go up to the mountain of the Lord. Micah 4:2
Lyrics:
I’m pressing on the upward way,
New heights I’m gaining every day;
Still praying as I’m onward bound,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
Refrain
Lord, lift me up and let me stand,
By faith, on Heaven’s table land,
A higher plane than I have found;
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
My heart has no desire to stay
Where doubts arise and fears dismay;
Though some may dwell where those abound,
My prayer, my aim, is higher ground.
Refrain
I want to live above the world,
Though Satan’s darts at me are hurled;
For faith has caught the joyful sound,
The song of saints on higher ground.
Refrain
I want to scale the utmost height
And catch a gleam of glory bright;
But still I’ll pray till Heav’n I’ve found,
Lord, plant my feet on higher ground.
Refrain
