Biden and McCarthy reach a final deal to avoid US default and now must sell it to Congress

With days to spare before a potential first-ever government default, President Joe Biden and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy reached final agreement Sunday on a deal to raise the nation’s debt ceiling and worked to ensure enough support in Congress to pass the measure in the coming week.

The Democratic president and Republican speaker spoke with each other Sunday evening as negotiators rushed to draft and post the bill text so lawmakers can review compromises that neither the hard-right or left flank is likely to support. Instead, the leaders are working to gather backing from the political middle as Congress hurries toward votes before a June 5 deadline to avert a damaging federal default.

“Good news,” Biden declared Sunday evening at the White House. (AP News) Read more here.

- Father God, we offer You a chorus of praise at the news of this breakthrough over the past weekend. We continue to lay the remaining steps -- the passage of this bill in both the House and in the Senate -- upon Your altar, thanking You that You are in control of the affairs of men. In Your Name, amen and amen.

Durham to Testify Before House Judiciary Committee on ‘Seriously Flawed’ Russia Probe

Special counsel John Durham will testify before the House Judiciary Committee on his report excoriating the FBI’s “seriously flawed” investigation of whether former President Donald Trump colluded with Russia to interfere in the 2016 presidential election, The Epoch Times has confirmed.

The hearing, scheduled for June 21, will follow Durham’s closed-door briefing with the House Intelligence Committee on June 20.

In response to Durham’s criticism, the FBI issued a brief statement acknowledging that “missteps” were made in the bureau’s rush to investigate Trump.

“The conduct in 2016 and 2017 that Special Counsel Durham examined was the reason that current FBI leadership already implemented dozens of corrective actions, which have now been in place for some time,” the FBI wrote. “Had those reforms been in place in 2016, the missteps identified in the report could have been prevented.

Despite the FBI’s assurances of reform, Republicans have been disinclined to take the bureau’s word for it.

Commenting on the report on Fox Business’ “Varney and Co.,” Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) said he found it “heartbreaking” to see the Justice Department and FBI “so politicized and weaponized.”

“We have FBI whistleblowers coming forward, one after the other, describing how today, under Joe Biden, they are treating the FBI as the political enforcement arm of the DNC.” (The Epoch Times)  Read more here.

- Holy King, we pray for justice to be blind and balanced, so that the two-tiered justice system we have been watching over the last several years will be brought under Your holy authority.  We bind and rebuke the actions of corruption and deception at every level of government, in Jesus name.  We call forth redemption for those who have been unjustly prosecuted by the FBI / DOJ and other agencies.  We pray for divine protection over everyone involved in pushing forward truth, and Holy One, we declare that these wicked schemes will not continue being used against our nation.  We pray for Your divine presence to grow and flourish in our government, in Jesus name.

EU Issues Warning After Elon Musk Pulls Twitter Out of Anti-‘Disinformation’ Agreement

Senior European Union officials were furious over the weekend after Twitter owner Elon Musk pulled the social media platform out of the bloc’s “Code of Practice,” which critics say is tantamount to a censorship regime.

The EU’s internal market commissioner, Thierry Breton, wrote that Twitter left the bloc’s Code of Practice, after reports claimed the platform would do so. Breton warned that Twitter would face some legal liabilities.

“Twitter leaves EU voluntary Code of Practice against disinformation. But obligations remain. You can run, but you can’t hide,” Breton wrote. “Beyond voluntary commitments, fighting disinformation will be legal obligation under #DSA as of August 25. Our teams will be ready for enforcement.”

An EU official also told Euractiv that the bloc is “waiting for this,” and “it was purely a matter of time” before reports surfaced that Musk would withdraw.

The rules known as the Digital Services Act (DSA) require companies to do risk management, conduct external and independent auditing, share data with authorities and researchers, and adopt a code of conduct by August.

The 19 companies that are subject to the rules include Alphabet’s Google Maps, Google Play, Google Search, Google Shopping, YouTube, Meta’s Facebook and Instagram, Amazon’s Marketplace, Apple’s App Store, and Twitter. The others are Microsoft’s two units LinkedIn and Bing, booking.com, Pinterest, Snap Inc’s Snapchat, TikTok, Wikipedia, Zalando, and Alibaba’s AliExpress. (Epoch Times) Read more here.

- Father God, we thank You that Elon Musk has pulled Twitter out of the EU's Digital Information Act. The EU is acting like the disinformation police and it seems as though Musk will not yield to this tyranny.

Lord God, this is a genuine escalation in the war between truth and lies. We thank You that we, God's people, carry the Spirit of Truth. We ask for Your grace to rest upon all of us who know You as our personal Savior and Lord to be able to continue to walk in Your truth in these perilous times. In Your Name, Holy One, we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

And He has said to me, "My grace is sufficient for you, for power is perfected in weakness." (2 Corinthians 12:9)
FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Near the Western Wall, Jewish radicals shout at Christian Evangelicals to ‘go home’ - Times of Israel

Christian worshipers who prayed at an archeological park bordering the Western Wall on Sunday, were met by hundreds of Jewish protesters, including Jerusalem’s deputy mayor, shouting at them to leave.

The protesters were responding to an Evangelical Christian call for prayer at the Davidson Center, which is situated south of the Western Wall Plaza and features access to a segment of the Jewish holy site.

The incident underlines the strains on the relations of religious Israeli nationalists with Christian Evangelicals, who politically and financially support Israel as well as the strategic goals of religious nationalists, but diverge radically from them on theology.  (Read more)

2. Fire opened towards soldiers near Kiryat Arba, IDF ambulance damaged - Israel National News

A shooting was carried out on Monday evening toward IDF soldiers who were operating in route defense activity on Highway 60, adjacent to the community of Kiryat Arba.

The IDF Spokesperson’s Unit said that IDF soldiers responded with live fire toward the source of the shooting.

No injuries were reported, but damage was caused to an IDF ambulance.

IDF soldiers are searching the area for suspects.

Early Monday morning, Israeli security forces entered the city of Jenin, arresting six wanted terror suspects following a string of attacks across Samaria on Sunday. (Read more)

3. Anti-Overhaul Protests Held Across Israel for 21st Week - Algemeiner

i24 News – Israelis opposed to the planned judicial overhaul by the government of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu took to the streets for the twenty first week on Saturday.

Protesters marched from several locations in central Israel toward the main protest site, Tel Aviv’s Kaplan Street. Speakers at the event will include former defense minister Moshe Ya’alon.

The weekly protest follows Israeli lawmakers passing an annual budget Wednesday with contentious allocations for ultra-Orthodox Jews, in a concession to religious parties in the governing coalition.

The 2023-2024 budget was ultimately passed early Wednesday with the support of all 64 coalition lawmakers in the 120-seat parliament.

4. Declassified Yom Kippur War archives highlight painful intel lapses - Israel Hayom

Israel on Sunday declassified a sizable cache of documents and images from the 1973 Yom Kippur War, a conflict whose 50th anniversary falls later this year. Some of the revelations offer insight into intelligence failings that made the conflict one of the most painful episodes in the state's history.

The comprehensive new site, created by the Defense Ministry, features some 15,000 photos, 6,000 documents, 215 films, 170 maps and 40 tape recordings.

The attack on the Israeli-held Golan Heights and Sinai peninsula by the Syrian and Egyptian militaries on October 6, 1973, famously came as a nasty surprise to Israel's top intelligence and military brass. The entire state apparatus was seized with a nearly fatal complacency that ended the glittering political careers of Prime Minister Golda Meir and Defense Minister Moshe Dayan. Israel neutralized the two invading forces after nearly three weeks, at great cost. (Read more)

5. Well Financed Anarchists Plan to Ruin Israel Day Parade in NYC - Jewish Press

An email sent on Sunday by a group calling itself “NYC for Democracy” is planning to interrupt next Sunday’s Israel Day Parade in Manhattan.

Celebrate Israel Parade in support of Israel runs north along Fifth Avenue, from 57th to 74th Street., on Sunday, June 4, from 11 AM to 4 PM. According to the organizers, this is the world’s largest expression of solidarity with the Jewish state.

So, how can the anti-judicial reform anarchists mess with it? Here’s the email:

“Ten ministers and MK Simcha Rothman are coming to town to spread lies and cover up the damage this horrible government is doing to US-Israel relations and Diaspora Jewry. This is our opportunity to give everything we have to repel the expedition of lies and hatred that comes here. (Read more)

1. Senate Democrats introduce bill to give federal government massive power over online platforms - LifeSite News

Democrat U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet of Colorado and Peter Welch of Vermont has introduced legislation to give the federal government “comprehensive oversight” power over digital platforms, in what critics are calling a blatant threat to freedom of speech online.

Bennet’s Digital Platform Commission Act would create a new five-person body of commissioners nominated by the president and confirmed by the Senate, backed by an 18-member Code Council of “experts” in various subjects including “disinformation.” The commission would have broad rulemaking, investigative, and penalizing power, ostensibly in the name of promoting public safety, access to government services, business competition and consumer protection, protection of digital infrastructure, prevention of “deceptive, unfair, unjust, unreasonable, or abusive practices,” algorithm fairness and transparency, and ensuring a “robust and competitive marketplace of ideas with a diversity of views at the local, State, and national levels.”

That last assurance is called into doubt, however, by Section 2 of the bill, which blames the current lack of federal regulation for “abetting the collapse of trusted local journalism,” “enabling addiction and other harms to mental health,” “disseminating disinformation and hate speech,” and “in some cases, radicalizing individuals to violence” — echoing common left-wing rhetoric about the expression of views and information that dissent from various left-wing orthodoxies.
The legislation is unlikely to make it past the Republican-controlled House of Representatives, but highlights how action on ostensibly-apolitical tech issues such as consumer protection can be exploited as Trojan horses for speech regulation. (Read more)

- Lord, we thank You that the Republicans now control the House of Representatives, so that this bill will have little chance of passage. But Lord, we do see the writing on the wall, and that more and more, the enemies of our freedom of speech are working to try to curtail our Constitutional rights. Help us to remain ever vigilant, in prayer and in action, to remain as watchmen on the wall over these serious matters. In Your Name, amen and amen.

- (Re: the bill not passing) "In everything, give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (I Thessalonians 5:18)

2. Supreme Court Sides With 94-Year-Old Woman Whose Home Equity Was Seized by County - Epoch Times

The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that a Minnesota county wronged a grandmother when it forced the sale of her condominium over an unpaid tax debt and kept the sale proceeds that far exceeded the tax she owed.

Critics call such a practice “home equity theft.”

The case came after Pacific Legal Foundation (PLF) released a report late last year saying that 12 states and the District of Columbia allow local governments and private investors to seize dramatically more than what is owed from homeowners who fall behind on property tax payments.

Chief Justice John Roberts wrote the court’s opinion (pdf) in Tyler v. Hennepin County, Minnesota, court file 22-166, which was issued on May 25.

“The taxpayer must render unto Caesar what is Caesar’s, but no more,” Roberts wrote for the court. (Read more)

- Lord God, we shout another HALLELUJAH at the news of this decision by our Supreme Court justices! We ask that justice would continue to be rendered on behalf of all Americans, great and small, that we would surely enjoy "equal justice under the law." In Your Name, amen and amen.

"In everything, give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (I Thessalonians 5:18)

3. Black Lives Matter close to insolvency as execs take home six to seven figure paychecks - Rebel News

Black Lives Matter's (BLM) national establishment faces the specter of bankruptcy, as its finances nosedived to an $8.5 million deficit last year, concurrently awarding multiple employees with salaries in the seven-figure range.

The Washington Free Beacon revealed the precarious financial state of BLM's Global Network Foundation (BLM GNF), a more formal structure for the civil rights movement that officially emerged in November 2020.

Despite intense scrutiny, BLM GNF persisted in hiring kin of its founder, Patrisse Cullors, and various board members. Paul Cullors, primarily known for his graffiti artistry with no experience in security, held a paid position as 'head of security,' garnering a $126,000 salary on top of his consulting fees. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask that these people be held accountable for their corrupt practices. We pray for the failure of the movement of BLM, which does not promote peace but only hatred and violence. In Your Name we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

" Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." (Galatians 6:7)

4. Target makes changes to 'Pride' collection after $9 billion loss in stock value amid backlash - Christian Post

Target’s stock value has taken a hit amid controversy over a collection the company unveiled ahead of so-called Pride month that has ties to a British designer whose brand promotes Satanic imagery.

Fox Business reported that the retail chain lost $9.3 billion in market value and the corporation's shares have dropped by more than 12.6% since the consumer backlash began last week.

“For more than a decade, Target has offered an assortment of products aimed at celebrating Pride Month. Since introducing this year's collection, we've experienced threats impacting our team members' sense of safety and well-being while at work,” Target wrote in a Wednesday statement

“Given these volatile circumstances, we are making adjustments to our plans, including removing items that have been at the center of the most significant confrontational behavior,” the statement continued. “Our focus now is on moving forward with our continuing commitment to the LGBTQIA+ community and standing with them as we celebrate Pride Month and throughout the year.” (Read more)

- Lord God, although Target has not completely removed this merchandise from their shelves, nevertheless, we can see the impact we righteous are now making in the marketplace, and we thank You for this victory.

May Your people continue to "vote with their wallets," where possible, so that the woke agenda in the marketplace will be weakened and eventually disappear. We ask that the leaders and staff at Target would get this message. Amen.

- "If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you." (John 15:7)

5. About 1 Million Viewers Stopped Watching Fox News After Tucker Carlson’s Exit: Report - Epoch Times

An analysis of primetime ratings shows that Fox News has seen an approximate decline of 1 million total viewers on average for its primetime lineup after the departure of Tucker Carlson in late April.

In the four weeks before Carlson left the network, Fox News’ primetime hours averaged some 2.6 million total viewers. But in the four weeks after his departure, those hours are down to just 1.6 million viewers, a decline in 39 percent, according to an analysis from Mediaite.

The 8 p.m. hour that Carlson used to have also declined significantly, according to ratings. Carlson had averaged some 3.2 million viewers in the weeks before he left, but the replacement show —”Fox News Tonight”—is down to 1.49 million viewers on average. Despite the drop in the primetime viewership since Carlson’s departure, data shows that Fox News is still the No. 1 cable news channel in terms of overall ratings. (Read more)

- Lord God, Tucker Carlson is a man who speaks and reports the truth. We thank You for this news, showing that the American people cannot be duped, after all, in agreeing with the nonstop series of lies that the media is now spewing out across our land. We ask that other broadcast networks would take note of these statistics, and then weigh whether they, too, are releasing truth over the airwaves, or not. May they then adjust their programming accordingly, we ask in Your Name, amen and amen.

- “Again I say to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven. " (Matthew 18:19)
6. No risk, no reward: Doctors paid massive bonuses to push experimental jabs on children - LifeSite News

STORY AT-A-GLANCE

  • Primary care providers across the U.S. were bribed with incentive programs to coerce patients into getting the toxic COVID shot. Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield paid doctors $50 for each Medicaid patient aged 6 months and older, who got the experimental jab.
  • Doctors have been financially incentivized to vaccinate children for a long time. In 2016, Blue Cross Blue Shield paid pediatricians a $400 bonus for each patient that completed 10 vaccinations before their second birthday, provided 63 percent of their patients were fully vaccinated.
  • “Client and family incentives” also exist. In 2015, the Community Preventive Services Task Force recommended boosting vaccination rates by giving small, inexpensive incentive rewards to patients
  • Bribery is also par for the course when it comes to vaccine mandates. Pfizer paid undisclosed sums to front groups that advocated for COVID jab mandates, thereby hiding their conflict of interest
  • While the COVID-19 pandemic furthered many globalist goals, it inadvertently tanked childhood vaccination rates. To get childhood vaccination rates back on track, a global alliance has launched “The Big Catch-Up” initiative. It’s touted as the largest childhood immunization effort ever. (Read more)

- Father God, when we read news of this nature, we weep for what has become of our nation. Lord God, we ask that You would intervene to STOP this practice among
our pediatricians. We ask that laws now be passed to protect our children from this
abuse, in Your name, amen and amen.

- Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do. (Luke 23:34)

7. Chinese state-sponsored hackers infiltrated U.S. naval infrastructure, secretary of the Navy says - CNBC

The U.S. Navy has been hit by the Chinese state-sponsored hack that Microsoft disclosed Wednesday, Secretary of the Navy Carlos Del Toro told CNBC’s Morgan Brennan on Thursday.

Del Toro said the U.S. Navy “has been impacted” by the cyberattacks, adding that it was “no surprise that China has been behaving in this manner, not just for the last couple years, but for decades.”

He declined to provide further detail on the incursion but suggested that the Navy had been contending with cyberattacks like this for years.

Microsoft issued a warning Wednesday as did intelligence agencies including the National Security Agency, the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency, and the cybersecurity agencies of four other nations. The warnings alerted corporate and public enterprises that a sophisticated Chinese state-backed hacking group had successfully exploited a vulnerability in a popular cybersecurity suite. (Read more)

- Lord God Almighty, we ask that You would loose Your warring angels to protect every branch of our military: Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and Space Force. We thank You that this incident has now come to light, and we ask that measures be taken swiftly so that these hackers cannot break into our systems again. Amen.

- "He will give His angels orders concerning you,
To protect you in all your ways.
" (Psalm 91:10)

8. President Isaac Herzog congratulates Turkey's Erdogan on election victory - Jerusalem Post

Israel's President Isaac Herzog sent his congratulations to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his latest presidential win.

In a statement released via Twitter, President Herzog expressed well wishes to the re-elected Turkish leader. He expressed an interest in continuing to develop the evolving relationship between the two Middle Eastern nations.

"Congratulations to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey on his election victory," he wrote. "I am convinced we will continue to work together to strengthen and expand the good ties between Turkey and Israel." (Read more)

- Abba, we pray for Tayyip Erodgan. We lift him up and we ask for a change in his mind and his thinking toward Israel. Even as you changed the mind and heart of Nebuchaddnezar, may you do this also with Mr. Erdogan. May you work through dreams and visions and may He see who you are, the God and the soon coming KING of Israel and may he bow before you.

And at the end of the time I, Nebuchadnezzar, lifted my eyes to heaven, and my understanding returned to me; and I blessed the Most High and praised and honored Him who lives forever: For His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
And His kingdom is from generation to generation.

The Daily Jot

A Lesson For Today In The Story Of Ruth

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, May 29, 2023

Many are facing challenging times. Headlines and daily newscasts are a continuous reminder of the turmoil of everyday life. It is easy to get weary in a world where your belief system is contested every minute. It’s easy to get angry, upset, anxious, even depressed over living in this day and age. Yet, as followers of Christ, we are supposed to treat others as we would be treated. As in Proverbs 25:21-22, “If your enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For you shall heap coals of fire upon his head, and the Lord shall reward you.” What the scriptures are talking about here is kindness. There is a principle regarding kindness, an act sorely missing in today’s society.

Recall the story of Ruth during a time of famine. After moving from Judah to Moab seeking food, her mother-in-law Naomi’s husband died. Then Naomi’s two sons died. Ruth was married to one of the sons. Orpha was married to the other. Naomi, left with nothing, decided to return to her homeland of Judah, of the God of her fathers. She knew at least in Judah her people would care for her. She encouraged Orpha and Ruth, both Gentiles, to remain in Moab. Orpha departed. Ruth, however, refused and chose to remain with Naomi, saying, “for where you go, I will go; and where you stay, I will stay; your people shall be my people and your God my God.” This demonstrated Ruth’s devotion to not only Naomi, but importantly her choice to follow the one true God. And Now . . . Lion of Judah: ROAR!!!!
"The Lord shall go forth like a mighty man;
He shall stir up His zeal like a man of war.
He shall cry out, yes, shout aloud;
He shall prevail against His enemies."

NASA Pursues Lunar Terrain Vehicle Services
for Artemis Missions

NASA is seeking industry proposals for a next-generation LTV (Lunar Terrain Vehicle) that will allow astronauts to go farther and conduct more science than ever before as they explore the south polar region of the Moon during Artemis missions.

Artemis astronauts will drive to explore and sample more of the lunar surface using the LTV than they could on foot. NASA will contract LTV as a service from industry rather than owning the rover. Contracting services from industry partners allows NASA to leverage commercial innovation and provide the best value to U.S. taxpayers while achieving its human spaceflight scientific and exploration goals.

“We want to leverage industry’s knowledge and innovation, combined with NASA’s history of successfully operating rovers, to make the best possible surface rover for our astronaut crews and scientific researchers,” said Lara Kearney, manager of NASA’s Extravehicular Activity and Human Surface Mobility program at the agency’s Johnson Space Center in Houston. Planned Parenthood Laying off 20% of Workforce

Pro-Life Leader Offers Them 'Life-Affirming' Options
Planned Parenthood is laying off its national office staff and restructuring its organization, nearly one year after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. The abortion giant announced that it would be cutting up to 20% of its national workforce citing "difficult economic conditions", saying "reproductive freedom is in jeopardy". A statement from the Planned Parenthood Federation of America Union DC, Planned Parenthood Federation of America New York, and Planned Parenthood Federation of America San Francisco confirmed that dozens of employees would no longer have jobs.

Last year, the U.S. Supreme Court overturned its 1973 landmark Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion nationwide for nearly 50 years. The ruling came in the case of Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization. The High Court's ruling put the decision-making power back in the states' hands. Since then, numerous states have passed laws limiting abortion. In a press statement released this week, Planned Parenthood says it is now trying to "restructure to meet rising challenges" in this post-Roe environment. (CBN) Read More
- Abba, we celebrate this great news that You are doing a new thing across our Nation! May hearts of repentance lead every discharged worker to Jesus so they may recognize the blessings in new beginnings. We ask that You would provide for employees losing jobs by opening up opportunities for God-honoring work, according to Your will. In Jesus name, we declare that money being funneled to abortion centers will dry up, closing doors for Planned Parenthood centers in every state! Amen

- "Remember not the former things, nor consider the things of old. Behold, I am doing a new thing; now it springs forth, do you not perceive it? I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert" (Isaiah 43: 18-19)

Words and Music: Charles Tindley

Scripture: Cast your cares upon the Lord and He will sustain you. Psalm 55:22

Lyrics:
If the world from you withhold
Of its silver and its gold,
And you have to get along with meager fare,
Just remember, in His Word,
How He feeds the little bird;
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

Refrain
Leave it there, leave it there,
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.
If you trust and never doubt,
He will surely bring you out.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

If your body suffers pain
And your health you can’t regain,
And your soul is almost sinking in despair,
Jesus knows the pain you feel,
He can save and He can heal;
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

Refrain

When your enemies assail
And your heart begins to fail,
Don’t forget that God in Heaven answers prayer;
He will make a way for you
And will lead you safely through.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

Refrain

When your youthful days are gone
And old age is stealing on,
And your body bends beneath the weight of care;
He will never leave you then,
He’ll go with you to the end.
Take your burden to the Lord and leave it there.

Refrain
