"Standing United Together. . . . Under the Cross of Christ"
TODAY'S TOP STORY
A note from our editor: Yesterday, in his daily report, Gary Bauer focused on the mass shooting at the elementary school this week in Uvalde, Texas.  We quote his first section, below; then list the headings of the remaining portion of this essay. We continue to join in prayer with all of you out there, asking for God's healing touch to rest upon everyone who has been impacted by this tragedy in Texas. Amen.
Texas Elementary Massacre

Today, I want to only address the deadly shooting in Texas.  Everything else pales in comparison.

Once again, the country is mourning the senseless murder of innocent Americans, including 19 of our children.  These scenes of death at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas, are heartbreaking.  It is impossible to imagine the grief of the parents who had to wait for hours to learn the fate of their children.  We all grieve with them.

There is much we don't know yet about the disturbed young man who carried out this brutal massacre. But we can still come to some conclusions about why it happened, and how we can prevent future attacks like it.

Godless America

The Breakdown of The Family

What We Can Do Now

Exploiting Suffering and Tragedy
Conclusion:

When the news broke, the strategists around Biden and in the Democrat Party were ready to pounce.  They were already drafting remarks for Biden to deliver.

Just imagine if the shooter had been a young Caucasian.  Biden's speech would have been another attack on white supremacy.  But when it was learned that the shooter was Hispanic, Biden's staff switched to Plan B – an attack on your right to own a firearm to protect yourself and your family in an ever-increasingly unsafe America.

There is not a minute of the day when the political left is not trying to figure out how to exploit our pain and suffering for their own political gain.
FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Israel to demand Ankara end Hamas activity in Turkey - Israel Hayom

Turkey's Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu kicked off a two-day trip to Israel and the Palestinian territories on Tuesday, the first such visit by a senior Turkish official in more than a decade.

On Wednesday, he was due to hold talks with Foreign Minister and Prime Minister-designate Yair Lapid and Tourism Minister Yoel Razvozov.

In Wednesday's meetings, Israeli officials were set to condition improved ties with Ankara on the Turks putting an end to Hamas activities in Wednesday's meetings. Although officials understand Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's ideological ties to the terrorist group make him unlikely to halt their activities in the country altogether, Jerusalem plans to demand Ankara put an end to Hamas activities in the country that put Israelis' lives at risk. (Read more)

2. Jewish students afraid to go to university’ – in Israel; Knesset debates campus incitement - World Israel News

Jewish students, activists and politicians slammed the recent spate of anti-Israel demonstrations in Israeli universities Monday during a debate in the Knesset’s Education, Culture and Sports Committee.

“We are going through a difficult time here,” Tel Aviv University (TAU) student Orit Eliyahu told the committee. “There are people who live with me in the dormitories and decided to return to living with their parents because they’re afraid.”

“Raising a PLO flag, an enemy flag, has become a routine thing,” she said, “but it’s frightening to raise an Israeli flag. On Yom Hazikaron [Israel’s Memorial day for fallen IDF soldiers and victims of terror], there were Arab students who stuck their heads out the windows and clapped their hands in the middle of the siren commemorating the fallen soldiers. Arab students who sit with us in lectures tell us that they want to murder us.”

3. Iran used IAEA documents to deceive nuclear inspectors: report - World Israel News

Iranian officials were able to gain access confidential UN documents and use them to deceive international nuclear inspectors more than 15 years ago, the Wall St. Journalreported on Wednesday.

According to the Journal, copies of internal International Atomic Energy Agency papers were found among the trove of Iranian nuclear documents stolen by the Israeli Mossad in 2018. The revelations will complicate already fading prospects of US efforts to revive the Iranian nuclear agreement.

The papers, marked as confidential, were shared among senior Iranian officials between 2004-2006, allowing Tehran to assess what the IAEA knew and didn’t know about Iran’s nuclear program, prepare cover stories and falsify information.

“Iran could design answers that admit to what the IAEA already knows, give away information that it will likely discover on its own, and at the same time better hide what the IAEA does not yet know that Iran wants to keep that way,” said David Albright, president of the Institute for Science and International Security and a former UN weapons inspector. (Read more)

4.  Bennett Warns Iran’s Deception of IAEA is Global ‘Wake Up Call’ - Jewish Press

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett warned Wednesday that revelations that Iran has deceived the United Nations International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) about its nuclear activities should come as a “wake up call” to the international community.

“The exposure of Iran’s systematic program to deceive the IAEA – which was based around documents that Iran stole from the IAEA – is a wake-up call to the world,” Bennett said in a statement Wednesday evening.

According to a bombshell report by The Wall Street Journal, Iranian intelligence obtained secret 20-year-old United Nations atomic energy reports and used them to conceal its nuclear weapons development program. (Read more)

5. Scientist: 'Abu Aqleh was shot by a Palestinian terrorist, says evidence' - Israel National News

Shireen Abu Aqleh, a veteran journalist with Al Jazeera, was killed two weeks ago in Jenin while covering an exchange of fire between Israeli special forces and Palestinian terrorists, and the furor around the incident has yet to die down.

Immediately following the fatal shooting, Palestinians accused Israel of having deliberately targeted her, but the Palestinian Authority categorically turned down Israel's request to hold a joint investigation into the death, including making the bullet available for a mutually agreed-upon forensics expert to analyze.

Meanwhile, global media, led by CNN, has already made up its mind on what happened that day and continues to pronounce Israel guilty of actually murdering Abu Aqleh, relying on Palestinian accounts of what happened. According to prominent Israel physician Nachum Shachaf, however, the truth is the opposite of what media sources are claiming. (Read more)

1. Trump releases statements in response to Texas school shooting - DML News

Former President Donald Trump released a pair of statements on his Truth Social account Wednesday morning, in response to the devastating school shooting in Uvalde, Texas on Tuesday. Trump released the following statement, expressing his horror and condolences:

So hard to think or report about anything else after watching the Texas school “massacre” which took place yesterday. Thank you to the great wisdom and bravery of our Law Enforcement Professionals, and condolences to all who are suffering so gravely with the loss of those incredible souls so close to you. No words can express the sorrow and grief of this absolutely horrible event. It is a moment in time which will never be forgotten!

The National Rifle Association had already planned their annual convention for this week in Houston, Texas, and Trump was scheduled to speak at the convention on Friday. In another statement Wednesday morning, Trump announced that he will keep his commitment to speak at the event. (Read more)
- Lord God we thank you for leaders and individuals who have come to the aid of those grieving from this horrific tragedy. We pray that everyone grieving would feel your love, your peace and your joy that surpasses all knowledge and understanding. And we come against all individuals that would try to use this situation and twist it for their own political purposes and division in the name of Jesus, amen.

- "Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing." (1 Thessalonians 5:11)

2. Often vilified by liberals, Border Patrol agents rushed into Texas school to neutralize shooter - Just The News

Border Patrol agents, often vilified by progressive members of the Democratic Party, were among the first to arrive on the scene of the mass shooting at an elementary school in Texas on Tuesday. One Border Patrol agent is reported to have "shot and killed" the 18-year-old gunman.

The active shooter incident has, thus far, left at least 19 children and two adults dead.
Marsha Espinosa, a spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, tweeted: "U.S. Border Patrol Agents responded to a law enforcement request for assistance [for] an active shooter situation inside Robb Elementary School in Uvalde. Upon entering the building, Agents & other law enforcement officers faced gun fire from the subject, who was barricaded inside." (Read more)

- Lord God, we thank you for the brave men and women who run towards danger while everyone is running away so that they can protect and serve their country and its citizens! We come against all ungodly sorrow and trauma from this situation and we declare, Lord, that you are the God of restoration and justice and peace and that you will restore what was lost, in Jesus name, amen.

- "The God of peace will soon crush Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you." (Romans 16:20)

3. Texas association cuts NSBA ties after investigation of parents-as-terrorists letter - Washington Examiner

The Texas Association of School Boards announced Monday it will cut ties with the National School Boards Association, a decision that follows the release of a report detailing how the NSBA sent a letter to the Biden administration comparing parents who protest to domestic terrorists.

In an email to school board members, TASB Executive Director Dan Troxell announced the state association's decision to disassociate itself with the national organization.

"As you know, TASB has been monitoring carefully NSBA’s efforts to rebuild trust with its members over the past eight months and awaiting the release of its independent investigation into the Sept. 29th letter," Troxell said. "While we acknowledge that improvements have been made under NSBA’s new leadership, it’s clear that those efforts don’t go far enough at this time to overcome the operational deficiencies and lack of internal controls outlined in the investigation report." (Read more)

- Lord God, we come against this attitude that parents are not the authority of their own children and that children are under the authority of teachers or the education system. We pray protection over parents and all families that are trying to fight for their kids, that you would give them wisdom and strength in all circumstances, in the name of Jesus, amen.

"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (Thessalonians 5:16-18)

4. Sen. John Boozman wins Arkansas Republican primary - Just The News

Sen. John Boozman will run for reelection this Fall after winning the Arkansas Senate Republican primary on Tuesday, according to The Associated Press which called the race shortly after 9 p.m. local time.

With the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, Boozman won more than 57% of the vote against three primary challengers, with 40% of ballots counted.
One of Boozman's challengers, former NFL player Jake Bequette, made headlines earlier this month after he successfully sued the state for misspelling his name on primary ballots.

Fellow Arkansas Republican Sen. Tom Cotton previously voiced his support on Twitter for Boozman and former White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, who is running to replace retiring GOP Gov. Asa Hutchinson. (Read more)

- Lord God we pray over everybody who is winning their elections and their primaries that they would seek you and your will and your heart for their state. We pray that they would be a defender of the rights of the citizens in their state and they would hold true to those values, in Jesus name, amen.

- "For this is the will of God, that by doing good you should put to silence the ignorance of foolish people."  (1 Peter 2:15)

5. Record early voting ends, setting up Georgia’s high-stakes 2022 Election Day - Georgia Recorder

Tuesday’s primary election for Georgia governor, secretary of state, Congress, state lawmakers, and a host of other races is expected to draw large numbers of voters to the polls after a record turnout during early voting.

The secretary of state’s office reported that more than 710,000 people had cast ballots in Georgia as of Friday, the last day of the three-week early voting period, for a 180% increase over the same point in the 2018 primary election and a 149% increase over the same point in the 2020 primary election.

For much of early voting, lines were minimal; however, in the final days, lines started to lengthen in places like Gwinnett County’s Board of Elections Office, where some voters said they waited for an hour or more to cast their vote. The Republican primary turnout greatly outpaced Democrats by a margin of 406,388 to 299,232. (Read more)

- Lord, thank You for the opportunity to have a voice in the way our government runs. Help us to understand the truth of your Word, and what we lack in wisdom, we pray you would give us generously. With the Bible as our guide, we pray for the wisdom to vote for the candidates and policies that best reflect You.

- "All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness." (2 Timothy 3:16)
6. Georgia Primary Election Results - The Georgia Sun

It was a good night for incumbents in the Republican primaries. Brian Kemp won handily without a runoff in a crowded field. Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger is also poised to avoid a runoff, garnering 51% of the vote. Chris Carr shot down his primary challenger for attorney general with 73% of the vote. Commissioner of Insurance John King, also avoids a runoff, with 70% of the vote. The same goes for State School Superintendent Richard Woods, who defeated John Barge handily, with 72% of the vote.

Most notably, incumbents in Republican state office races won despite Donald Trump endorsing their opponents. David Perdue was Trump’s pick for governor, Jody Hice was Trump’s pick for Secretary of State, and Trump backed John Gordon for attorney general.

In races that didn’t involve incumbents, the Trump candidates fared better. Herschel Walker was backed by Trump and won the Senate primary handily. Burt Jones, who was Trump’s pick for Lieutenant Governor is set to win that primary and with 76% of precincts reporting has just enough votes (50.6%) to avoid a runoff. (Read more)

- Father God, as the primary elections continue to be held across the nation in all states, we pray in the Spirit over each one. Amen.

- "Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered." (Romans 8:26)

7. Biden Energy Secretary Denies Claim That Record Fuel Prices Are Intentional Move Towards Green Energy - The Daily Caller

Department of Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm denied record fuel prices were an intentional move to transition towards green energy at a petroleum plant Tuesday in Louisiana.

“You hear time and time again from folks on the right saying the price of gas today is almost intentional to try and get people to move towards electric vehicles, I’d just like to get your response to that,” said an off-camera reporter to Granholm in a video posted to Twitter by The Hill.

“That is absolutely false. The price is on the global market, as you heard me tell you what the price per gallon that people across the world are paying. Oil is traded globally,” Granholm replied. “We do want to see a movement toward electrification of transportation, but we know that people aren’t in a position, many people are not in a position to buy an electric vehicle today.” (Read more)

- Lord God, this claim comes from our current president who stated this just a couple of days ago. We know that you are not the author of confusion and that confusion and chaos is from the enemy. So we pray, Lord, that this administration will speak truth and speak life and no longer seek to deceive the American public from their true agenda, in Jesus name, amen.

Falsehood more than speaking what is right."   (

 8. FBI agent testifies 'fired up' leadership pushed Trump probe despite flimsy evidence - Just The News

In explosive testimony Tuesday in the Michael Sussmann trial, an FBI agent said "fired up" senior FBI leadership insisted on continuing the investigation into now-debunked allegations of a secret Trump back channel to Moscow via a Russian bank despite learning the story was unsubstantiated.

FBI agent Curtis Heide was the co-case agent on the investigation into the allegation that there was a secret communications channel between the Trump Organization and Kremlin-linked Alfa Bank. He testified on Tuesday in the Sussmann trial that the bureau's top brass pushed for the investigation.

Heide was told in an instant message from FBI Agent Joe Pientka, who was the supervisor leading the Crossfire Hurricane investigation regarding Trump-Russia collusion allegations, that senior leadership was "fired up" about the Alfa Bank and  Trump Organization email servers and not opening an investigation was not an option. He received this message two days after Sussmann met with then-FBI General Counsel James Baker to give him the underlying, allegedly pretextual data. (Read more)

- Lord God, this is information that we already knew to be true but we now have the proof right before our very eyes that this was the plan from the beginning to take down the Trump administration. We pray that accountability and responsibility would now be maintained because if we have no justice, then this sets a dangerous precedent that this action can be done to any individual running for office.

- "So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin."    (James 4:17)

9. Fauci's researchers find better antibody response from natural immunity than Moderna vaccine - Just The News

A month before America's top infectious disease bureaucrat conceded that mRNA vaccines offer only short-lived protection against COVID-19, Anthony Fauci's researchers at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID) offered a possible explanation why.

These vaccines target COVID's spike protein, whereas natural immunity recognizes the whole of the virus, including the nucleocapsid protein that envelops the RNA core.

Among those infected during the "blinded phase" of Moderna's 30,000-adult vaccine trial, only 40% of those given the vaccine developed anti-nucleocapsid antibodies. The figure was more than twice as high (93%) for those given the placebo. (Read more)

- Lord God thank you so much for the amazing, intricate and unique way you have made human beings. You have equipped us and our bodies with abilities to fight off all sickness and disease. We ask, Lord, for your wisdom about what we should be doing to boost our immune systems and what we can take so our bodies can heal ourselves naturally the way that you created. In Jesus name amen.

10. 5,000 Beijing Residents Sent to Quarantine Camps Based on 26 Coronavirus Cases in Their District - Brietbart

Health authorities in Beijing transferred 4,979 of the city’s residents to state-run quarantine facilities over the weekend as part of the effort to contain the latest outbreak of the Wuhan coronavirus in the Chinese national capital, the Global Times reported on Sunday.

Chinese Communist Party officials began uprooting the massive group of residents on May 20 from a residential compound in Beijing’s Chaoyang district and continued the effort through at least May 21. Individuals within the group will spend a minimum of seven days sealed inside designated hotel rooms booked by the Chinese state to accommodate the quarantine.

“The task is very tough. A total of 4,979 residents needed to be transferred. 210 staff from seven teams have [been] stationed in the community to communicate with them from door to door. We would like to thank the residents of the community for their understanding and support. So far, more than 4,300 people have arrived at hotels and the work is going smoothly,” Chaoyang district Communist Party official Wang Wu told Chinese media on May 21. (Read more)

Lord God, our hearts break for those that live in countries that have no rights whatsoever. We ask Lord God that you send your ministering angels to all of your people in Beijing giving them comfort and peace. We thank you Lord that your spirit is ministering to everyone there and that your people can tangibly feel your love and you’re making yourself known to them in a real, tangible way in the mighty name of Jesus amen.

For deliverance by man is in vain."

11. Christian school caught teaching Biblical truth - WORLD

A moment of truth is coming for every Christian school, every evangelical institution. The hour is coming when we will know where every Christian college stands, what every Christian school teaches, and whether these institutions will take a stand for Biblical truth or collapse into the monoblob of progressive ideologies.

Controversy exploded in local news headlines after a Christian Academy middle school teacher in an elective Christian worldview class made an assignment to students. They were asked to write an essay that would take the form of a letter to a young person their own age and gender who might be struggling with homosexuality. Students were told to assume they are writing to a good friend they have known for some years who attends their church: “The aim of your letter should be to lovingly and compassionately speak truth to the person you’re talking to in a way that does not approve of any sin. Try to persuade them of the goodness of God’s design for them.”

The teacher’s instructions reminded the students to affirm “that God’s design for them is good,” “that homosexuality will not bring them satisfaction,” and that “you love them even though you don’t approve of their lifestyle.”

As a Christian theologian and educator, my first reflection when shown the assignment was that the teacher had shown remarkable thoughtfulness in constructing the project. Students were pointed to the goodness of God’s design, told not to affirm any sin, and affirmed in their love and concern for their friend. Frankly, this assignment should be given to all Christian adults. (Read more)

- Lord, if schools all over the country have kids write essays about gender identity and LGBTIQQ related topics, then surely these children can write about how to speak to those with LGBTIQQ beliefs. We understand, Lord, that these are not times to be an apathetic or lukewarm Christian. We understand that, as Christians, we have many opponents in our world today. Help us to realize and keep it in the forefront of our thinking that we are in a war, not against flesh and blood, but against the evil powers of the spiritual realm.

- “…stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.”                      (1 Corin. 15:58)

12. Public School Enrollment in U.S. Plunges 1.2 Million: Parents Are 'Fed Up,' Mohler Says - Christian Headlines

New data showing that more than 1.2 million students in the U.S. left public schools during the pandemic can be partially attributed to parents objecting to what schools are teaching their children, says theologian and seminary president Albert Mohler.

The data by researchers at the website ReturntoLearnTracker.net was cited this month by the New York Times and shows that 1,268,000 students have left public schools since the start of the pandemic in 2020, with enrollment falling 2.5 percent in the fall of that year and never rebounding.

"Let's understand one of the reasons why is that increasingly parents – if they understand what's being taught in so many public school systems – are saying, 'That's not going to be taught to my kids,'" Mohler said on his podcast, The Briefing. "I'm certainly not denying there are other issues, including parents just fed up with remote learning or any number of other issues, but the fact is you are looking at a seismic change in the entire educational landscape when it comes to the education of children in the United States. And I think Christians understand all these headlines remind us there's a lot more at stake here than many would recognize."

- Father God, we rejoice at this news! We ask a special blessing for all the parents who are rescuing their children from the clutches of the indoctrination being perpetrated upon our youth from the New World Order. We ask that many more would join this exodus, that we might be a free people again. Praise the Lord!

- "Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!" (Psalm 150:6)

Stupidocrisy: Monkeys In The Middle

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, May 25, 2022

Joe Biden in Japan Monday said that America is “going through an incredible transition” to “be less reliant on fossil fuels.” And herein is why, according to the US Department of Agriculture, a family of four on a thrifty food plan will pay $917 for groceries in May, up about 65% from a year ago. It’s also why gasoline prices have jumped over 53% from $2.46 a gallon when Biden first took office to $4.56 a gallon on Monday. A “transition,” as he calls it away from fossil fuels. This isn’t a transition, it is a blunt force political hammer that smashes the budgets of families around the world and causes hunger, malnutrition and starvation. This is inhumane stupidity. A “transition” would be enacting a plan over a reasonable time.

Biden also has been working under the radar to turn over America’s sovereignty to the World Health Organization. Biden wants to allow WHO to establish world governing authority under the guise of a health emergency. This unprecedented expansion of powers is an addition to international regulations agreed to in 2005 in response to the SARS epidemic of 2003 where the 194 WHO member countries agreed to submit their sovereignty to WHO when it comes to handling pandemics such as COVID. This places WHO in the position of a world dictator using self-defined health “emergencies” to decree travel, religious worship, privacy and body autonomy (read: forced vaccinations and social credit system). Bennett: Biden notified me last month of decision to keep Iran Guards on terror list

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett revealed Tuesday that US President Joe Biden updated him last month on his final decision to keep Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps on the State Department’s Foreign Terrorist Organizations list.

Biden notified Bennett of the decision during the last phone call the two held in April, the premier said in a statement from his office.

An official familiar with the matter confirmed Bennett’s account to The Times of Israel, saying Biden had asked the prime minister not to publicize his decision, as Washington still hopes to reach an agreement with Iran on a joint return to compliance with the multilateral nuclear accord known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action. (Times of Israel) Read more here.

Russia, China fly nuclear-capable bombers in joint military drill during Biden trip to Japan

A joint military exercise in which Russia and China flew nuclear-capable bombers Tuesday during President Biden’s trip to eastern Asia demonstrates how both sides remain close "even as Russia brutalizes Ukraine," a senior administration official tells Fox News.

The drills, which the official described as the most significant cooperation between the two countries since Russia invaded Ukraine three months ago, come as Biden is in Tokyo for the Quad leaders summit with the leaders of Japan, India and Australia.

"The exercise shows that China is continuing its military cooperation with Russia in the Indo-Pacific even as Russia brutalizes Ukraine," the official said. "It also shows that Russia will stand with China in the East and South China Seas, not with other Indo-Pacific states." (Fox News) Read more here.

China Follows Biden Remarks by Announcing Taiwan Military Drills

China followed President Joe Biden’s vow to defend Taiwan militarily by announcing it held military exercises close to the democratically ruled island, underscoring its anger over the US stance.

The air and sea “combat readiness patrol” was “a solemn warning about the recent collusion between the US and Taiwan,” Colonel Shi Yi said in a statement on Wednesday from the Eastern Theater Command of the People’s Liberation Army. The command, which is headquartered in the eastern city of Nanjing, didn’t say when exactly the exercises were conducted.

“On the Taiwan issue, the US side says one thing and does another, giving repeated encouragement to ‘Taiwan independence’ forces. This is hypocritical and futile, and will only lead the situation to a dangerous situation, and it will also face serious consequences,” Shi added. (Bloomerg) Read more here.

Trump issues a dire warning

I am someone who thinks that the threat of nuclear war is unlikely in our day and age…

Mutually assured destruction is my pet theory regarding the likelihood of nuclear war in the 21st century, and I use this same rationality to argue against gun control.

I still hold this belief, but I also agree that Joe Biden is inching the world closer to nuclear war, and while I still believe that nuclear war is unlikely, he does constitute a threat to national as well as global security.

Biden is reckless with his words, with the White House having to backtrack his high profile foreign policy comments twice this year…

A nuclear war with Russia or China benefits no one. It doesn’t benefit us, it doesn’t benefit them, and President Trump has taken to the internet to voice his concerns with a clearly unwell, incompetent, and dangerous ‘President’. (WeLoveTrump) Read more here.

Immense crater hole created in Tonga volcano

Researchers have just finished mapping the mouth of the underwater Tongan volcano that, on 15 January, produced Earth's biggest atmospheric explosion in over a century.

The caldera of Hunga-Tonga Hunga-Ha'apai is now 4km (2.5 miles) wide and drops to a base 850m below sea level.

Before the catastrophic eruption, the base was at a depth of about 150m.

It drives home the scale of the volume of material ejected by the volcano - at least 6.5 cubic km of ash and rock.

"If all of Tongatapu, the main island of Tonga, was scraped to sea level, it would fill only two-thirds of the caldera," Prof Shane Cronin from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, said.

Archaeologists Find Ancient Underground City Where 70,000 Christians Could Have Fled to Escape Persecution
JERUSALEM, Israel – Archaeologists have uncovered a large, 2,000-year-old underground city in Turkey that could have been a refuge for early Christians escaping Roman persecution, Live Sciences reports. Excavators found the ancient complex inside a limestone cave in the Midyat district of Turkey’s Mardin province. The underground city contains storage chambers for food and water, homes, and houses of worship, including a church and what appears to be the remains of an ancient synagogue with a Star of David painted on the wall.

Archaeologists believe the city – officially named “Matiate” – was built sometime in the second or third centuries AD after discovering Roman-era artifacts like coins and lamps inside."It was first built as a hiding place or escape area," Gani Tarkan, director of Mardin Museum and head of excavations told Turkey’s state-run Anadolu Agency. "Christianity was not an official religion in the second century [and] families and groups who accepted Christianity generally took shelter in underground cities to escape the persecution of Rome," Tarkan said. "Possibly, the underground city of Midyat was one of the living spaces built for this purpose."

Many early Christians were Jews who believed in Jesus as the Messiah. Both religions faced intense persecution at the hands of the pagan Romans. After the Romans, early Christians were also persecuted by the Persians. Ancient geographers wrote that many Christians inhabited the southern region of what is now Turkey, likely to escape persecution. Lozan Bayar, an archaeologist with Mardin's Office for Protection and Supervision, believes the recently discovered underground city could have been a place where ancient Christians fled to safety. Death in the Classroom

by
In a classroom of children, the attack on innocence in Uvalde, Texas is not just overwhelmingly painful; it has shaken our nation to the core.. .

For the past ten years, I have been teaching about school safety and security, writing articles about how to make schools safer, running webinars on the topic, and speaking on various radio programs, all in an effort to get the attention of our school boards, administrators, parents, and government officials so they will take the steps they need to take to make our schools safer, but I still get the same comment from so many….. “It will never happen here.”

That phrase is what I describe as the most dangerous statement that anyone can make. And so, I’m clear, let me answer the “it will never happen here” concept… “You are wrong; it can happen at your school; it can happen anywhere. Get ready as the next attack is only weeks, days, or minutes away!”

Every parent or guardian should call their school district and ask if they have done the following six items:

  1. Have they ordered a professional Threat, Vulnerability, and Risk Assessment (TVRA)?
  2. Have the staff been trained to recognize potentially dangerous students and have an intervention plan? This is known as developing a student-based threat assessment team.
  3. Get the staff trained to de-escalate situations before they erupt into violence.
  4. Develop a district-wide plan to identify students who don’t feel connected to their school or peers. This is one of the signs we find in the active shooters in schools.
  5. What technology is in place to keep the school safe?
  6. What kind of drills do they run? Are they drills of value or just checking off the boxes?

The facts about what happened at the Robb Elementary School are still being learned, but it seems the killer had severe mental issues, he made threats, and he apparently walked in the unlocked front door of the school.

A review of the district website showed they took the time to consider safety, they had security officers, the technology, and plans, but all of that effort was for nothing if they didn’t at least lock the doors.

This is no time to criticize the victims as we don’t know the facts, it is a time to pray for them, but we must understand all of the facts here so we can learn from this tragedy and try to protect our kids from the next attack that will surely come.

I’ve given some suggestions here; I urge everyone to heed them and take action. (America Out Loud) Read more here.

Wand’rer, come, there’s room for thee,
At the cross of Jesus;
Come and taste salvation free
At the cross of Jesus.

Refrain
Blessèd cross! precious cross!
There my hopes are twining;
There I see a Father’s love
Through a Savior shining.

Come and bring thy burden now
To the cross of Jesus;
Lay thy burning, throbbing brow
At the cross of Jesus.

Refrain
O what comfort thou wilt find
At the cross of Jesus;
Love thy broken heart will bind
At the cross of Jesus.

Refrain

See the crimson waters flow
At the cross of Jesus;
Come and tell thy every woe
At the cross of Jesus.

Refrain
