Yellen Sounds Alarm on Default in New Warning to McCarthy on Debt Ceiling Deadlock
|

Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has issued a renewed—and alarmist—warning to House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) and other congressional leaders, reiterating her earlier position that the country could run out of money to pay its debt obligations as early as June 1, but this time around expressing more confidence in her dire prediction.
Yellen has repeatedly warned that the debt ceiling deadlock grinding on in Washington is pushing the country closer to the so-called X-date, when the Treasury Department’s bag of accounting tricks (known as “extraordinary measures”) runs out and the government faces the prospect of a debt default.
In her first letter to McCarthy on May 1 (pdf), Yellen said it was the Treasury Department’s “best estimate” that it would be unable to continue to satisfy all of the government’s debt obligations by early June and potentially as early as June 1. She reiterated that view in a May 15 letter, in which she noted it’s impossible to predict the exact timing of the X-date.
But in a new letter (pdf) to McCarthy and congressional leaders on Monday, Yellen’s rhetoric took a more alarmist tone, saying that incoming data show it’s now “highly likely” that the government will run out of money as early as June 1.
“With an additional week of information now available, I am writing to note that we estimate that it is highly likely that Treasury will no longer be able to satisfy all of the government’s obligations if Congress has not acted to raise or suspend the debt limit by early June, and potentially as early as June 1,” Yellen wrote. COVID Vaccine-Injured Sue Biden Administration Over Censorship
|
|
A woman who suffered severe nerve damage after receiving a COVID-19 vaccination and four others with confirmed or suspected COVID-19 vaccine injuries launched a lawsuit against President Joe Biden and his administration on May 22.
Top government officials violated the plaintiffs’ rights to free speech and peaceful assembly when they pressured Big Tech companies to crack down on people sharing their experience after receiving the COVID-19 vaccines, Brianne Dressen, the woman, and the other plaintiffs say. “Through threats, pressure, inducement, and coercion, Defendants now work in concert with social media companies to censor content the government deems ‘disinformation,’ ‘misinformation,’ and ‘malinformation’—a feat that the government could never lawfully accomplish alone,” the 124-page suit, filed in U.S. court in southern Texas, states.
In addition to Biden, defendants include Rob Flaherty, a top adviser to Biden; White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre; the Department of Homeland Security; the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC); and Surgeon General Vivek Murthy. The CDC declined to comment. The other defendants did not respond to requests for comment, or could not be reached.
Dressen hailed the lawsuit as a major development for those reporting to be suffering from vaccine injuries. “People injured by the COVID vaccines in the United States have not been able to file suit anywhere, under any circumstance,” she told The Epoch Times. “So this is a landmark case for Americans injured by the COVID vaccine.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here. |

Franklin Graham warns of data, bank
cancellations of Christian ministries

ORLANDO, Fla. — Evangelist Franklin Graham warned Christian broadcasters of a “coming storm” of demonic criticism that could cancel their cloud data storage and bank accounts, key elements of business and ministry in the digital age.
In recent years, sudden closures of bank accounts and terminations of other critical services have plagued some conservative organizations, both secular and religious. For example, the National Committee for Religious Freedom, founded by a former Kansas senator and governor, Sam Brownback, had its Chase bank accounts shut down without explanation last year.
Mr. Graham, who heads the international relief charity Samaritan’s Purse, said he’s had to take steps to avoid being “canceled” on short notice, addressing the National Religious Broadcasters convention Monday evening.
A rising tide of “wokeness” could sweep over evangelical ministries that broadcast the Gospel message and call out sinful behaviors, said Mr. Graham, who also leads the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, founded by his late father.
“I believe there’s a coming storm that we’re all going to [have to] be ready for,” he told the audience of about 2,000 attendees. “It’s not going to be good. The world is deteriorating so quickly. It seems like every demon in Hell has been turned loose.” (Washington Times) Read more.

Michele Bachmann reports directly from WHO World Health Assembly in Geneva: ‘No dissent registered by any nation thus far to proposed amendments nor to global pandemic treaty’

Former Minnesota Congresswoman Michele Bachmann is in Geneva this week as part of a small team of prayer warriors interceding for the very serious situation in which the world finds itself. We are on the brink of a major historical event in which power is in the process of shifting from nation-states to international bodies affiliated with the United Nations. It’s that process and how to accomplish it that’s being discussed right now at the 76th annual World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland.
Bachmann will be monitoring the proceedings regarding major amendments to the International Health Regulations (last amended in 2005) as well as an all-new pandemic accord that would shift massive amounts of power from national governments over to the United Nations World Health Organization and its director general.
Today, she provided me with a timetable for the nations of the world to enter into this global pact, surrendering their sovereignty over “public health emergencies” to the WHO.
Bachmann stated in a text message that the WHO’s 194 member nations will take a final vote on whether to hand over their sovereignty to the WHO one year from today at the 77th World Health Assembly in May 2024.
“That vote will be on the package of 300 amendments supplanting (changing) the current International Health Rules,” she said. “The delegates will also vote on the global pandemic health treaty/accord.”
Those two documents will be synthesized and coordinated and will be voted on at the same event in Geneva in May 2024, Bachmann explained.
“There was no dissent registered by any nation thus far at the World Health Assembly 2023 to either the proposed 300 amendments nor to the global pandemic treaty,” she said. “It is a unified voice of support for passage of the amendments and the proposed pandemic treaty.”
She further stated that a U.S. delegate to the Assembly (there are many alternates listed) spoke today, May 23, in favor of passing the package of proposed international health amendments and the global pandemic accords.

1. US conditions Israel-Saudi talks on halt to judicial reform - JNS
The White House is demanding that Israel shelve its judicial reform plans in exchange for American support for a normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia, according to Israeli media reports.
Washington, along with Riyadh, is also conditioning advancement of the talks on restarting long-dormant negotiations with the Palestinians, according to Channel 12.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Wednesday told Israeli media that the raft of bills designed to overhaul the country’s legal system would return to the Knesset after the passage of the state budget, and President Isaac Herzog continues to host negotiations between the coalition and opposition on a political compromise. 2. Israel says 'no place can't be reached' after report on Iranian nuclear-related activity - Israel Hayom
National security advisor Tzachi Hanegbi on Tuesday said a new nuclear facility being built by Iran would not be immune from attack, despite assessments by experts it will be beyond the reach of last-ditch U.S. bunker-busting bombs.
Tzachi Hanegbi made the comments in response to an Associated Press report that said the new facility appears to be as deep as 100 meters (328 feet) below ground.
Hanegbi, speaking at a security conference near Tel Aviv, said he was not surprised by the report, noting that Iran has other underground facilities. While he acknowledged the location would complicate any potential military strike on the facility, he said there are still solutions to the challenge.
"What is possible to say about this matter is that there is no place that can't be reached," he said. He declined to say whether Israel had the ability to do this on its own. (Read more)

Knesset lawmakers okayed state budgets for 2023 and 2024 in the early hours of Wednesday morning, ending months of coalition bickering over funding priorities that had threatened to upend Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government.
After slogging through a seemingly unending roster of objections leveled by the opposition in hopes of delaying proceedings, MKs finally voted to approve the final parts of the two-year budget just after 6 a.m. Wednesday, capping a boisterous all-nighter in the plenum.
Lawmakers voted 64-55 along coalition lines in the final two readings for the 2023 budget, the 2024 budget, and a bill setting funding policy. (Read more)

Opposition leaders on Wednesday morning assailed the state budget passed by the government after a marathon Knesset session, accusing the ruling coalition of failing to tackle the cost of living, while funneling funds to causes that were detrimental to national interests.
“While you were sleeping, [the coalition] passed the worst, most destructive budget in the history of the country,” Opposition Leader Yair Lapid charged. “It brings no fresh tidings, no attempt to fight the cost of living – just endless extortion. 5. MK protests to BBC, says guidelines for journalists encourage Palestinian terrorism - World Israel News
MK Ohad Tal recently blasted the BBC for what he said are skewed journalistic guidelines when it comes to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which result in incitement to terrorism, and he demanded change.
“As a member of the Israeli parliament, it has come to my attention that proscribed terrorist groups are routinely alleging that their slaying of Israeli civilians is justified in view of “crimes” (sic) committed by Israel,” the Religious Zionist Party legislator wrote to BBC Director-General Tim Davie, attaching a long list of articles to back up his claim.
“These terrorist groups say their terrorism is a “natural response” to these “crimes.” Tal said.
At the same time, “the BBC routinely and repeatedly disseminates that ‘settlements… are illegal under international law,’ he wrote, with another lengthy list backing his charge.

1. Minnesota Legislature Passes Bill Allowing Infanticide, Revoking Care for Babies Who Survive Abortion - Life News
Today the Minnesota legislature approved an Omnibus health bill that repeals a bipartisan measure protecting newborns and a bipartisan program supporting pregnant women who want to carry their babies to term. It also rescinds a number of longstanding laws surrounding abortion.
Gov. Tim Walz is expected to sign the wide-ranging bill, which the House and Senate passed along narrow party lines, into law.
“First Gov. Walz and DFL majorities enacted abortion-up-to-birth, a policy at odds with the vast majority of the world,” said MCCL Co-Executive Director Cathy Blaeser. “Now, somehow, they have gone even further. They have revoked a law that requires lifesaving care for newborns. And they have wiped out the Positive Alternatives program that supports pregnant women in difficult circumstances. he latest national test scores in history and civics show a large and scary drop in student knowledge of what it means to be a good citizen. That’s concerning enough, but when coupled with a survey of teens also released this month, it’s clear we’ve missed something huge when it comes to kids’ understanding of — and lack of respect for — their role in civic life.
Indeed, the Reboot Foundation survey found 59% of young adults with TikTok accounts said that if forced to choose between their social media or voting rights, they would give up the latter.

3. San Francisco selects D’Arcy Drollinger as first drag laureate in US - The New York Post
The nation’s first-ever drag laureate was named Thursday in San Francisco.
Well-known drag performer and nightclub owner D’Arcy Drollinger was selected to the ambassador-esque position by Mayor London Breed, who called her a “a bright star” in the Golden City.
The role lasts for 18 months – a span where Drollinger said she plans to make the city “sparkle.”
“My goals are to make San Francisco sparkle. I think drag performers bring a lot of sparkle and humor and glamor and silliness to the world. I think that is part of why drag is so successful,” said Drollinger, a man who uses feminine pronouns when in drag.
She said she intends to be in drag “pretty much 24/7 for the next 18 months.” She begins her new role weeks before Pride Month gets underway. (Read more)

4. Ron DeSantis presidential campaign team unveiled — including ex-Trump staffer Dustin Carmack - New York Post
Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis has assembled his final campaign team ahead of today’s presidential run announcement, enlisting a mix of battle-tested strategists and committed political allies.
The White House push will be helmed by seasoned campaign maestro Generra Peck, who guided DeSantis to a 20-point clubbing of Democratic gubernatorial challenger Charlie Crist in November. Known as a savvy political tactician, Peck is close to both DeSantis and his wife, Casey DeSantis, and was lauded by name at the Floridian’s January inauguration.
DeSantis will tap his former congressional chief of staff Dustin Carmack as his policy director. He was previously chief of staff for the director of national intelligence during the Trump administration. 5. Target Removes Pride Items from Satanist Designer After Backlash - Brietbart
Target has removed “pride” themed items associated with the satanist designer Abprallen due to the backlash it has since received over the partnership.
Target’s pride collection has remained the subject of criticism following its rollout, as it offers an array of items for children and babies as well as transgender swimsuits for adults with “tuck-friendly” and “light-binding” effects. But in the midst of the pride-themed onesies, socks, shoes, and swimsuits were at least two items by the U.K.-based designer Abprallen.
The individual behind the brand identifies as a transgender gay man — a biological woman attracted to males — and satanist, even paying homage to the satanic figure Baphomet and asserting that “Satan respects pronouns.” While that design was not offered at Target stores, the woke company offered two designs from the designer — a top reading “Cure Transphobia Not Trans People” and a tote bag reading “Too Queer for Here.” Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) was among those who criticized Target’s decision to push this agenda. (Read more)

6. Biden Admin Tells Adults How to Discuss Sex with Teens Behind Parents’ Backs - Washington stand
As part of its month-long focus on adolescent health, the Biden administration is promoting a document that tells Planned Parenthood and other taxpayer-funded family planning offices how to talk to minors about sex without their parents overhearing, and how to secretly deliver birth control to adolescents without parental knowledge or consent.
Federally-funded guidelines instruct adults to pause before discussing sex with minors and to ask, “Are you alone in the room?” These instructions specify tactics to follow “if you’re really having a hard time getting a parent” to leave the room during the sex talk. They suggest children as young as 13 discuss sex with groups like Planned Parenthood in a parked car or communicate in writing, so their parents cannot hear the adults’ side of the conversation. And they encourage offices to have vans roam neighborhoods giving minors federally funded contraceptives; to mail birth control to adolescents in “plain, unmarked packaging;” and/or to have teenagers receive contraceptives at public meet-up places.

7. Montana first to ban people dressed in drag from reading to children in schools, libraries - AP News
Montana has become the first state to specifically ban people dressed in drag from reading books to children at public schools and libraries, part of a host of legislation aimed at the rights the LGBTQ+ community in Montana and other states.
Bills in Florida and Tennessee also appear to try to ban drag reading events, but both require the performances to be sexual in nature, which could be up for interpretation. Both bills also face legal challenges.
Montana’s law is unique because — while it defines such an event as one hosted by a drag king or drag queen who reads children’s books to minor children — it does not require a sexual element to be banned.
That makes Montana’s law the first to specifically ban drag reading events, said Sasha Buchert, an attorney with Lambda Legal, a national organization that seeks to protect the civil rights of the LGBTQ+ community and those diagnosed with HIV and AIDS. (Read more)

Stupidocrisy: It Didn't Make Bud Wiser

You may remember the old joke: Question—Does drinking beer make you smart? Answer—Well, it made Bud wiser. Budweiser has become the butt of a not-so-funny joke and apparently the company is not any wiser for the experience. In arguably one of the worst promotional decisions in modern advertising, Bud Light featured Dylan Mulvaney, a man identifying as a woman, in a brief advertising campaign that essentially tanked the company. Now the CEO of Bud Light’s parent company is blaming the loss of about $8 billion in the company’s market cap on “misinformation.” Anheuser-Bush CEO Michel Doukeris just bought another round on the house as this failed ad campaign keeps chugging market cap.
On May 8, Doukeris told the Financial Times that “misinformation and confusion” circulated online of a Bud Light can with Mulvaney’s picture on it, and that it was “never intended to make it for general production and sale for the public.” Then he said that while people believed it was an ad campaign, “It was not: it was one post. It was not an advertisement.” Uh-huh. The Epoch Times reported, “However, in a video posted on TikTok in early April, Mulvaney could be seen drinking a Bud Light beer with the hashtag #budlightpartner, suggesting that there was in fact a partnership. The CEO also said that there were viral videos of billboards with images of the Bud Light can allegedly inserted “electronically” and “10 million people [were] watching it and commenting … that had nothing to do with Bud Light, it was just like pure social media creation.”” Read More

Speaker Kevin McCarthy was grilled by reporters this morning on the status of the debt limit negotiations with the Biden White House. Every day we’re told that the talks are “productive,” yet a deal remains elusive and time is running out.
Let me remind you that the main reason we’re in this mess is because Joe Biden spent months refusing to negotiate at all. So much for his overhyped promise to “bring everyone together.” That’s exactly what he was refusing to do!
In the meantime, House Republicans passed a bill last month that raises the debt limit but also responsibly limits 2024 spending to 2022 levels ($6.3 trillion) and caps future spending at 1%. Contrary to the left’s spin, there are no “draconian cuts” – merely limits on the future increases.
And keep in mind that 2022 spending levels were dramatically inflated by emergency pandemic spending. It’s not like Republicans are trying to turn back the clock to 2019 when we spent “only” $4.5 trillion!
But the leftist reporters demanded to know why McCarthy was refusing to compromise with President Biden. As usual, they have it exactly backwards. And I’m pleased to report that Speaker McCarthy aggressively pushed back, saying:
“If AOC and Bernie Sanders run the Democrat Party, it’s not my fault. . . It’s not my fault that Democrats cannot give up on their spending. . . It’s not a revenue problem. It’s a spending problem. . .
“Sixty percent of Americans believe that the debt ceiling should only be raised after you’ve found savings. So, we’re representing the American public and that’s what we’ll continue to do.”

Powerful Typhoon Mawar slams Guam with
heavy rain and damaging winds
|

CNN — The eye of Typhoon Mawar has passed just north of Guam, but the eyewall – the strongest part of the storm – is bringing powerful winds and heavy rain to the US territory.
The strongest storm to impact Guam in decades, Mawar is pelting the entire 30-mile-wide island with hurricane-force winds.
The Guam International Airport recorded sustained winds of 71 mph with a gust of 105 mph Wednesday evening. An extreme wind warning was in effect for the northern part of Guam until 10:45 p.m. (8:45 a.m. ET) for winds that could create tornado-like damage.
The northern third of Guam, including the village of Yigo, is being battered by the strongest winds and heaviest rainfall as the storm moves northwest.
“Mawar is now moving away from Guam,” the National Weather Service in Guam said. The center of the storm was located 15 miles north-northeast of Guam and was moving northwest at a sluggish 8 mph, the latest tropical cyclone advisory said. Read More

How Christians & Jews Coming Together Could Bring Salvation to the Ends of the Earth

JERUSALEM, Israel – One goal of the millions of Christians taking part in the May 7-28 Isaiah 62 Global Fast and Prayer is seeing God fulfill prophecies that Israel will be a light and bring salvation to the world. An Israeli Jewish man and Canadian Christian woman have joined forces to try to make sure that destiny happens. Some people ask if a true believer in God can have a real and profitable relationship with someone of another faith. Gil added, "It was very obvious that God was very much in Ruth's heart. That initially baffled Gil, who would think, concerning Ruth,"'I've just had this interesting conversation about prayer with a woman who wasn't even Jewish. "I mean, how could she know anything about prayer...faith...belief...God's presence...and she's not even Jewish? How could she know?'"
It became a mission of this duo to shake Christians up by getting them into Israel so they could be close to Jewish lovers of God...like Gil. But as Gil says of the Jewish and Christian faiths, "The more we are in this journey, the more we discover that we have so much in common...so much. And we share so much. Why should we focus on the differences when we can focus on the things that can bring us together?" There certainly are large areas of common ground between Christians and Jews. For instance, both call upon Our Father God. Gil told CBN News, "And I genuinely believe we are waiting for Mashiach (Hebrew for 'Messiah') to come. That's definitely common ground that we can both stand on together." Gil concluded, "And I just wish we could bring everybody together and say 'Please get along. It will make our Father very happy.'"
