Diesel Price: 100% Surge in Costs and Scarcity Deny Farmers Their ‘Lifeblood’
|
|
Farmers from Iowa to Ukraine are grappling with surging diesel prices and an unsteady supply, forcing them to spend unprecedented sums on fuel in a chaotic market and raising concerns about the autumn harvest.
In the US, where corn and soybean producers are rushing to sow after rains and cold temperatures forced delays, filling a tractor tank daily now costs some farmers $1,000, twice what it was a year ago. And the most intensive part of the farming season is still ahead.
“We’ve never experienced this level of price increase for farm diesel fuel,” said Iowa farmer Chris Edgington, president of the National Corn Growers Association. Cost per gallon has climbed to $4.70 from $2.20 a year ago, he said.
In the US, with grain reserves shrinking and inflation ongoing, diesel is in short supply, especially on the East Coast. Many of America's farmers are nonetheless well positioned for another year of profit as war and global weather challenges have extended the 2021 crop price rally. Wheat recently jumped to an all-time high and corn and soybeans are trading near records. Still, they worry prices will collapse while the cost for diesel and other key farm necessities stays high. - Lord, we pray for the farmers who are crucial to our nation. We ask for miracle upon miracle for the production of food in our country. Let all farmers see Your hand to help them, and give them direction.
- “In the morning sow your seed, and at evening withhold not your hand, for you do not know which will prosper, this or that, or whether both alike will be good.” (Eccl 11: 6)

1. Prime Minister Bennett's chief of staff resigns - Israel National News
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s chief of staff, Tal Gan-Zvi announced Monday plans to resign.

The Prime Minister’s Office confirmed that Gan-Zvi’s resignation was accepted. (Read more)

2. Second Senior Aide to Bennett Quits in Less Than Two Weeks - Algemeiner
Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett’s chief of staff resigned on Monday, less than two weeks after another senior aide bolted in a double blow to a leader who has yet to complete his first year in power and is due to host US President Joe Biden soon.
A statement from the prime minister’s office gave no reason for the departure of Tal Gan Zvi after a decade at Bennett’s side. Shimrit Meir, the premier’s senior adviser, resigned on May 13 citing “considerable sacrifices in (her) personal life.”
Israeli media have reported feuding among Bennett’s inner circle as his political fortunes appear increasingly tenuous.
Bennett cobbled together a cross-partisan coalition to end Benjamin Netanyahu’s record 12-year run as prime minister in June. A walkout by a lawmaker from his own party has since cost Bennett his one-seat majority in parliament.

3. Jerusalem court rules Jewish prayer permissible on Temple Mount - Israel Hayom
Israel reaffirmed on Sunday a long-standing arrangement with Muslim authorities that prevents Jewish prayer on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, pushing back against a lower Israeli court that questioned the legality of police action against violators.
Under the decades-old status quo, Israel allows Jews to visit the Temple Mount only if they refrain from religious rites.
Three Jewish minors, ordered to stay away for 15 days by police after they prostrated themselves and intoned the "Shema Yisrael" prayer during a compound tour, contested the ban at the Jerusalem Magistrates' Court. The court ruled in their favor on Sunday. (Read more)

4. Israel Police Appeal Court Decision on Temple Mount -Jewish Press
Israel Police have filed an appeal in the Jerusalem District Court against a Jerusalem Magistrate’s Court decision approving the recitation by Jews of “Shema Yisrael” and bowing on the Temple Mount.
The ruling was handed down in the case of three Israeli teens who were arrested by police on the Temple Mount for shouting “Shema Yisrael” during a visit to the site, one of the holiest in the Jewish faith and third holiest in Islam.
Despite the court’s decision however, Israel Police detained for questioning a Jew who came to the Temple Mount on Monday morning and, according to witnesses, bowed before God. Two other Jews were likewise stopped altogether when they tried to enter the sacred compound with a prayer shawl (tallit) and tefillin. (Read more)

1. SEC in-house judges violate right to jury trial, appeals court rules | Reuters
The Securities and Exchange Commission's in-house judges violate the U.S. Constitution by denying fraud defendants their right to a jury trial and acting without necessary guidance from Congress, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Wednesday.
The court ruled 2-1 in favor of hedge fund manager George Jarkesy Jr and investment advisor Patriot28 LLC, overturning an SEC administrative law judge's determination that they committed securities fraud.
A spokesperson for the SEC and counsel for the petitioners did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Wednesday.
The Dodd-Frank Act, which Congress passed after the 2008 financial crisis, expanded the SEC's ability to seek penalties in its administrative proceedings.
In the ruling Wednesday, the majority said that because seeking penalties is akin to debt collection, which is a private right, the defendants were entitled to a jury trial.
- Lord, we thank You for stopping government overreach in this situation. We pray that anyone harmed by these unconstitutional judges would have their rights restored.
-"You who have made me see many troubles and calamities will revive me again; from the depths of the earth you will bring me up again. You will increase my greatness and comfort me again.” (Psalm 71: 2o-21)

2. Biden lands in South Korea as White House says any North Korean tests will 'increase our fortitude' | Daily Mail Online
President Joe Biden kicked off his trip to Asia by meeting South Korea's new President Yoon Seok-youl in the lobby of a Samsung micro-chip facility Friday evening and taking a factory tour.
'This is an auspicious start to my visit, because it's emblematic of the future cooperation and innovation our nations can and must build together,' Biden said, delivering remarks alongside Yoon after touring two parts of the enormous Pyeongtaek facility.
Biden and Yoon, along with Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, toured a floor of the facility and received a technical briefing on how semiconductor wafers are made.
Biden was told which components were American, with a representative from the California-based company KLA on hand to tell the president about his company's part of the process.
'Don't forget to vote Peter. You may live here, but don't forget to vote,' Biden told the worker after he gave his presentation during the tour.
Biden thanked President Yoon, although he stumbled over his name after getting it right the first time after a long flight.
'And President Moon – Yoon – you thank you everything you've done,' Biden said. Yoon's predecessor is President Moon Jae-in.
Biden also misstated the name of the facility in Taylor, Texas, where Samsung plans to spend billions. He called it Tyler, Texas.
- Lord, this man is not fit to be President. We continue to fall on our knees and pray for a move of repentance and Your mercy to cover our struggling nation.
- “Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16)

3. Hillary Clinton approved dissemination of Trump-Russian bank allegations to media, campaign manager testifies | Fox News
Former Clinton campaign manager Robby Mook testified Friday that then-Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton approved the dissemination of materials alleging a covert communications channel between the Trump Organization and Russia’s Alfa Bank to the media, despite campaign officials not being "totally confident" in the legitimacy of the data.
Former FBI General Counsel James Baker testified Thursday that the bureau investigated the data alleging a Trump connection to the Kremlin-linked bank, and found that "there was nothing there."
- Lord, we ask for justice in this case. As President Trump was excoriated for over 4 years and his troubles continue even today, we ask once again for You to visit him, repair his heart, and free him from the shackles of evil.
- “I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten, the hopper, the destroyer, and the cutter, my great army, which I sent among you. “You shall eat in plenty and be satisfied, and praise the name of the Lord your God, who has dealt wondrously with you. And my people shall never again be put to shame.” (Joel 2: 25-26)

4 .U.N. Joins World Economic Forum Call to End Oil, Gas, and Coal Use (breitbart.com)
U.N. chief Antonio Guterres on Wednesday called for an end to oil, gas, and coal use in favor of renewable sources as part of a self-described global climate Marshall Plan.
The veteran Portuguese Socialist spoke ahead of the upcoming World Economic Forum (WEF) annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland, which has already issued its own call for net-zero carbon emissions to be driven by a wider embrace of solar and wind power sources without delay.
To avoid catastrophic climate change, humanity must “end fossil fuel pollution and accelerate the renewable energy transition, before we incinerate our only home,” Guterres said in his pre-recorded remarks timed to coincide with the release of a major U.N. state-of-climate report, AFP reports.
Renewable technologies should be treated as freely available “global public goods”, unconstrained by intellectual property, he added.
The U.N. Secretary-General also called for an end to approximately half-a-trillion dollars in fossil fuel subsidies, roughly two-thirds of which go to consumers and the rest directly to industry as part of the drive to change consumer habits.
- Lord, we bind this agenda tightly to Your will and purpose. We rebuke the words of the elites and ask You to bring about a mighty move of repentance…bringing with it Your power and strength.
- “While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and winter and summer, and day and night shall not cease.” (Genesis 8:22)

5. Zelenskyy's global food crisis prediction may be 10 weeks away, UN official says: 'Seismic' | Fox News
A food supply expert warns that the world faces a global crisis in just 10 weeks, echoing a warning from Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.
"Russia has blocked almost all ports and all, so to speak, maritime opportunities to export food – our grain, barley, sunflower and more. A lot of things," Zelenskyy said Saturday. "There will be a crisis in the world. The second crisis after the energy one, which was provoked by Russia."
"Now it will create a food crisis if we do not unblock the routes for Ukraine, do not help the countries of Africa, Europe, Asia, which need these food products," he added.
- Lord, we pray for all those who will be affected by the food shortages. We pray that Zelensky’s words will not come to pass as fully as he says. Help everyone look to You as Jehovah Jireh, our Provider.
- “And my God will supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:9)

6. White House coronavirus advisor supports continued use of masks indoors | Fox News
The White House COVID-19 response coordinator Dr. Ashish Jha supports the continued use of masks while indoors as cases continue to rise again.
"I agree with Mayor Adams that when you're in indoor space, you should be wearing a mask," Jha said during an appearance on "This Week." "I feel that very strongly that in crowded indoor spaces, in places with high transmission, people should be doing that."
The United States survived a severe winter spike that recorded the highest level of infection with a seven-day rolling average of around 800,000 cases. The level dropped to a much more manageable case count over the past few months, but May has seen another rise, with the seven-day average peaking over 100,000 for the first time since February.
- Lord, we rebuke this idea to throw the nation back under the control of the government. We say NO to it and pray that Your love and mercy will prevail over it.
- “For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.” (2 Timothy 1:7)

7. Florida suspends abortion clinic after hospitalizations | Fox News
An abortion clinic that serves women from all over the U.S. South had its license suspended this weekend under an emergency order from Florida health officials after two women who had undergone procedures at the clinic were hospitalized this year.
The state Agency for Health Care Administration ordered the suspension of the license for American Family Planning of Pensacola, effective starting Saturday.
In cases cited by the agency, the clinic failed to monitor the patients at all times, didn't provide medical records when patients were transferred for greater care and didn't contact the patients within 24 hours after they left the clinic to assess their recovery, said the order which was issued on Friday.
It said the problems were operational deficiencies "endangering the health, safety and welfare" of the clinic's patients, and the clinic failed to submit timely reports about the incidents to the state agency.
- Lord, we thank You that this agency has lost their license. The left is always screaming that abortion is “healthcare” but it is not true and this situation reveals it. We pray for a move of Your Spirit upon all who have participated in the abortion industry, and healing for these women.
- “And the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” (James 5:15)

8. Gavin Newsom: 'I'm Hopeful' Kamala Harris Will Be 'the Next President' (breitbart.com)
California Gov. Gavin Newsom (D) said Thursday that he is “hopeful” Vice President Kamala Harris will be “the next president of the United States.”
Newsom’s comments came during an interview with the San Francisco Chronicle editorial board. The board asked Newsom, who is running for a second term this mid-term election cycle, “if he would promise to voters that he wouldn’t run for president before the end of that term,” which would expire in 2027.
“Yeah, I mean, I have sub-zero interest. It’s not even on my radar,” he said, adding that Harris, who has drawn criticism regarding her performance as vice president, should succeed President Joe Biden, the Chronicle noted.
“I’m hopeful that she’s the next president of the United States,” he said.
Newsom’s support of Harris comes at a time when Harris’s approval rating has plummeted below that of Biden’s, a recent Trafalgar poll showed.
- Lord, the political words that are bandied about in the election cycle give some of us shivers. We bind these words tightly, and declare that they will fall to the ground. We ask that You intervene in all political races this cycle and bring forth righteousness in all candidates.
- “For the eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and his ears are open to their prayer. But the face of the Lord is against those who do evil.” (1 Peter 3:12)

9. New York judge finalizes congressional map, opening door for Democratic chaos in primary race - Washington Times
A New York judge finalized the state’s congressional and state Senate district maps late Friday night, changing very little from Monday’s proposed map that set off consternation among Democrats.
Acting State Supreme Court Justice Patrick McAllister appointed Carnegie Mellon University fellow Jonathan Cervas to redraw the new district lines after a batch of DemocratIC-drawn maps were previously rejected.
Justice McAllister in the five-page order disputed criticisms of Mr. Cervas and the court related to the new maps, declaring the new boundaries “almost perfectly neutral” with 15 safe Democratic seats, three safe Republican seats and eight competitive seats.
New York Republicans applauded the finalized maps saying in a statement Saturday morning that it was a “good day for Democracy.”
“Democrats’ scheme to rig the election is finally dead beyond revival. We took on this fight on behalf of the 20 million citizens of this state who deserve free and fair elections,” NYGOP Chairman Nick Langworthy said in a statement. “It should not be forgotten by voters that Governor Hochul, DCCC Chair Congressman Maloney, and Senator Gianaris were the chief architects of this outrageous and illegal attempt to strip New Yorkers of their rights and cheat, all at an enormous cost to taxpayers.”
- Lord, once again a redistricting map is creating chaos. We pray that You will protect the righteous and remove the unrighteous from consideration. We ask for a move of Your Spirit over this election, that repentance would be manifest over all.
“Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, but sin overthrows the wicked.” (Proverbs 13:6)

Biden Administration's Philosophy Against Free Speech
The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, May 23, 2022
Americans have experienced first-hand how the Biden Administration works with the news media, corporations, and Hollywood to curtail free speech. The censorship surrounding COVID dissent is a real-time example. Other examples include labeling dissenters as insurrectionists, racists, bigots, homophobes, xenophobes, fascists, etc. The Biden Administration encourages even radical dissent when it aligns with Democratic Party ideology as seen by the outrageous encouragement to harass Supreme Court justices over abortion. The Biden Administration war on free speech, however, goes far deeper as a political philosophy as demonstrated by a recent State Department announcement.
On Monday, May 16 the State Department announced, “the United States is taking a series of measures to increase support for the Cuban people in line with our national security interests. The Cuban people are confronting an unprecedented humanitarian crisis–and our policy will continue to focus on empowering the Cuban people to help them create a future free from repression and economic suffering.” Without really saying what that “humanitarian crisis” is, State announced it would increase visa processing, expand authorized travel to Cuba, expand internet and microfinance services to Cuban businesses, and remove cash limits to allow more money to “flow more freely to the Cuban people while not enriching those who perpetrate human rights abuses.” In other words, Biden is enriching the communist state in the name of humanitarianism. US military will defend Taiwan 'if it comes to that,' Biden says
|
|
|
President Biden stated that the U.S. will send the military to defend Taiwan if the People's Republic of China were to invade the island nation.
"Very quickly, you didn't want to get involved in the Ukraine conflict militarily for obvious reasons. Are you willing to get involved militarily to defend Taiwan if it comes to that?" a reporter asked the president during a news conference in Japan.
"Yes," Biden replied.
"You are?" the reporter pressed.
"That's the commitment we made," the president said.
A White House spokesperson told Fox News that the administration's policy "has not changed."
"As the president said, our policy has not changed," the spokesperson said. "He reiterated our One China Policy and our commitment to peace and stability across the Taiwan Strait. He also reiterated our commitment under the Taiwan Relations Act to provide Taiwan with the military means to defend itself." (Fox News) Read more here.

US Ambassador Nides moves into new residence in Jerusalem

Envoy enters home on capital’s Emek Refaim Street, after old official residence in Herzliya was sold by Trump administration in 2020
|
|
US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides has moved into a new home in Jerusalem and his embassy has filed a request to the Foreign Ministry to recognize the building as the envoy’s official residence, a US official confirmed to The Times of Israel on Sunday.
The building is located on Emek Refaim Street, in Jerusalem’s upscale German Colony neighborhood.
Nides had been mostly staying at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel in the capital since arriving in Israel last November.
The old US ambassador’s residence was a seaside compound in the Tel Aviv suburb of Herzliya, but it was sold by the Trump administration to the late casino mogul Sheldon Adelson in 2020, after the former president moved the US embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2018.
Israeli Tax Authority documents showed that Adelson paid NIS 230 million ($67 million, according to the conversion rate at the time) for the thousand-square-meter (10,760-square-foot) residence, the largest residential real estate deal in the country’s history.
The sale was seen as having been designed to prevent future administrations from rolling back the embassy move.

Top Russia UN diplomat quits over Ukraine war, slams Putin

|
Boris Bondarev criticizes Russian military, Kremlin elite
A Russian diplomat reportedly has resigned from his post in opposition to the "aggressive war unleashed by [President Vladimir] Putin against Ukraine" and the "warmongering, lies and hatred" coming from the country’s foreign ministry.
Boris Bondarev’s resignation letter was published by U.N. Watch, which describes itself as a "non-profit organization dedicated to holding the United Nations accountable to its founding principles."
"My name is Boris Bondarev, in the MFA of Russia since 2002, since 2019 until now — Counsellor of the Russian Mission to the UN Office at Geneva," he reportedly wrote. "For twenty years of my diplomatic career I have seen different turns of our foreign policy, but never have I been so ashamed of my country as on February 24 of this year."
Bondarev said on that date, the war unleashed by Putin "and in fact against the entire Western world, is not only a crime against the Ukrainian people, but also, perhaps, the most serious crime against the people of Russia, with a bold letter Z crossing out all hopes and prospects for a prosperous free society in our country."
"Those who conceived this war want only one thing — to remain in power forever, live in pompous tasteless palaces, sail on yachts comparable in tonnage and cost to the entire Russian Navy, enjoying unlimited power and complete impunity," he said. "To achieve that they are willing to sacrifice as many lives as it takes. Thousands of Russians and Ukrainians have already died just for this." (Fox News) Read more here.

official in Putin's administration, he is now a man alone. We ask that the world would take heed to his words, and that You would provide divine protection fo both he and his household, from this day now and forever. In Your name, amen.

Ukraine’s Zelensky urges maximum sanctions on Russia in Davos address
|
|
|
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called for “maximum” sanctions on Russia during a virtual speech on the first day of the World Economic Forum gathering of corporate executives, government officials and other elites in Davos, Switzerland.
Zelensky said sanctions needed to go further to stop Russian aggression, including an oil embargo, blocking all of its banks and cutting off trade with Russia completely. He said that it would be a precedent that would work for decades to come.
“This is what sanctions should be: They should be maximum, so that Russia and every other potential aggressor that wants to wage a brutal war against its neighbor would clearly know the immediate consequences of their actions,” Zelensky said through a translator. (Los Angeles Times) Read more here.

Poisonous, invasive black skeletonizer moth
discovered in California vineyard
|
|
As larva, their long tufts of poisonous black spines sting and irritate the skin, covering farmers’ hands in angry red welts. And if there’s enough of them, they’ll completely defoliate vines, induce grape rot, and leave nothing behind except a “necrotic,” skeletonized leaf just as their name implies. And now, they’re here in California’s Napa County vineyards.
CBS Bay Area reported that insect trapper Jesse Guidi discovered the eerie, metallic blue-black western grapeleaf skeletonizer moth while hunting for another pest, the glassy-winged sharpshooter. According to the University of Florida’s Entomology and Nematology department, the non-native Harrisina metallica is originally from Arizona and New Mexico and typically found in Florida and the Eastern half of the United States. But now Napa County officials and growers are concerned the pests are setting up shop in their local vineyards.
"We do not want this pest to become established in Napa County,” Tracy Cleveland, Napa County Agricultural Commissioner told CBS. That’s because Farm Progress says it’s a “serious, destructive pest” that’s so voracious, it can destroy an entire vineyard.

How the Fire of God Smote a Small City in Oklahoma
|
|
A fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit has begun in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, ignited by the fire of God skipping like a ram from the recent outpouring in Coffeyville, Kansas. Chaplain Jim Linzey and I had shared with several pastors in Bartlesville how the Holy Spirit began moving in Coffeyville. Pastor Wayman White of Liberty Temple of Bartlesville was moved by the Holy Spirit at our meeting, and he concurred that pastors and congregations there needed to unite and worship together. Consequently, the fire of God landed upon us, and revival broke out among us. The flames of revival broke out in Bartlesville on Sunday evening, May 15. People from various churches had come together at Victory Church, pastored by David Stoupe. A dynamic worship leader on keyboard and vocals, while leading in praise and worship a woman in her 60s was lit aflame by the Holy Spirit. She fluttered across the sanctuary, dancing in the Spirit like a whirlwind. The flame skipped across the sanctuary and lit everyone else on fire by the Spirit. People began shouting as they sang, lifting holy hands unto a holy God and speaking and singing in tongues.
We invited Rev. Steve Griffin, pastor of New Beginnings Family Church of Bartlesville, to speak. He was red-hot with the flames of Holy Spirit fire all over him as he screamed for the presence of God to come down upon everyone in a greater, deeper dimension. "Receive the Holy Ghost fire!" Rev. Griffin shouted over and over. People were slain in the Spirit. Rev. Jim Linzey, a retired Army chaplain, laid hands on one young man who was addicted to methamphetamine. The young man began shaking and quaking uncontrollably with his hands in the air. Pastor Griffin's wife sang a special song, and the presence of the Holy Spirit became so gentle, resting peacefully upon the congregation. Then everyone grew quiet in the Spirit. Suddenly, outbursts in the Spirit erupted in the midst of the stillness while Sister Griffin still sang. I've never seen anything like this in my life. Several people got saved at the altar.
Rev. Graham exclaimed to us that there had been 150 people at church on Sunday night, and it appeared that the crowd grew even bigger Monday night. Evangelist Allan Walker blessed the revival with his presence. Several months ago, God had used Evangelist Walker to teach on the baptism of the Holy Spirit at the church where I pastor — Emmanuel Chapel of South Coffeyville, Oklahoma — where Chaplain Linzey had come forward and led everyone in praying in the Spirit. The move of the fire of God is so real that Tuesday, May 17, about a dozen pastors from Nowata, Oklahoma, who had already heard about the revival in Bartlesville met me at Emmanuel Chapel desiring for a move of the Holy Spirit in their town. We fellowshipped and broke bread most of the day, praying and speaking in tongues, pleading for the Spirit of God to move amongst them. Now pastors in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, are beginning to come together with me to pray down Holy Ghost fires of revival in their town. The wildfire has broken loose! (Charisma News)

Onward Christian Soldiers
To listen to this classic hymn, CLICK HERE
Words: Sabine Baring-Gould
Music: Arthur Sullivan
Scripture: Do not be discouraged because of this vast army. For the battle is not yours, but God’s. 2 Chronicles 20:15
Lyrics:
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the cross of Jesus
Going on before.
Christ, the royal Master,
Leads against the foe;
Forward into battle
See His banners go!
Refrain
Onward, Christian soldiers,
Marching as to war,
With the Cross of Jesus
Going on before.
At the sign of triumph,
Satan’s host doth flee;
On then, Christian soldiers,
On to victory!
Hell’s foundations quiver
At the shout of praise;
Brothers, lift your voices,
Loud your anthems raise.
Refrain
Like a mighty army
Moves the Church of God;
Brothers, we are treading
Where the saints have trod.
We are not divided,
All one body we,
One in hope, in doctrine,
One in charity.
Refrain
