FDA Chief Says Bird Flu Risk to Humans is Low, But Agency is Preparing
|
|
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is preparing in case the current strain of avian flu circulating in the U.S. jumps to humans on a large scale, the agency’s commissioner told senators Wednesday.
FDA Commissioner Robert Califf told the Senate Appropriations Committee that while the threat to humans is low and milk products are safe, the FDA and other agencies are working to scale up medical countermeasures.
“So we got to have testing. Gotta have antivirals, and we need to have a vaccine ready to go. So we’ve been busy, getting prepared for if the virus does mutate in a way that jumps into humans on a larger level,” Califf said.
Califf said there’s a possibility that the H5N1 influenza virus could jump to humans and infect the lungs.

House Democrats Vote Unanimously to Count Foreign Nationals in Congressional Apportionment
|
|
House Democrats voted unanimously to continue including foreign nationals, illegal aliens among them, when apportioning congressional districts in states.
Late on Wednesday, the House voted along party lines, 206-202, for Rep. Chuck Edwards’ (R-NC) Equal Representation Act, with all Republicans supporting the bill and all Democrats opposing:
The Equal Representation Act would require the decennial census, to be taken in 2030, to include a question whereby respondents certify whether they are an American citizen or a foreign national, such as a green card holder, visa holder, or illegal alien.
The Department of Commerce, following the census, would be required to make public the number of American citizens and foreign nationals throughout the United States. Read more (Just the News)

Cory Mills Draws up Articles of Impeachment Against Joe Biden Over Delayed Israel Aid
|
|
Florida GOP Rep. Cory Mills is drawing up articles of impeachment against President Joe Biden on Thursday, over his delay of weapons and aid to Israel for invading Gaza.
An impeachment precedent was set, conservative lawmakers argue, when former President Donald Trump was impeached for the same offense in 2019, after he decided to withhold aid for Ukraine.
Mills claims that Biden made a "quid pro quo" situation with Israel by maintaining that it would only get a weapons shipment if it did not invade Rafah.
"The House has no choice but to impeach President ‘Quid pro Joe’ Biden," Mills said in a statement shared with Just the News. "Joe Biden is pressuring Israel, our biggest ally in the Middle East, by pausing their funding that has already been approved in the House, if they don't stop all operations with Hamas. It’s a very clear message, ‘this for that.’
"These are the same accusations made against President Trump, which resulted in his impeachment by Democrats," Mills added. "The same must happen for Joe Biden, which is why we’re drawing up articles of impeachment now." (Just the News) Read more

House GOP Introduces Bill Barring Non-Citizens From Voting
|

|
As the crisis along America’s southern border continues, a large cohort of House Republicans are making it clear that non-citizens cannot be allowed to vote in federal elections with the introduction of a bill Wednesday that would require proof of citizenship to register to vote and would expunge non-citizens from existing voter rolls.
Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) led a group of 49 House GOP members in introducing the Safeguard American Voter Eligibility (SAVE) Act, a bill designed to “thwart Democrat[ic] efforts to cement one-party rule by upholding and strengthening current law that permits only U.S. citizens to vote in Federal elections,” according to a press release from Roy’s office. “Radical progressive Democrats … are using open border policies while also attacking election integrity laws to fundamentally remake America,” Roy stated.
In comments endorsing the bill, House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) remarked, “As we approach the 2024 elections, the American people must have absolute certainty in the integrity of our election system. This bill would fortify federal elections by ensuring that only American citizens vote in American elections.”

The national ceremony and the lighting of the memorial candle in memory of the fallen soldiers of Israel and victims of hostile acts is currently taking place at the Western Wall Plaza.
This year's ceremony is being held in the shadow of the Hamas massacre committed seven months ago on the morning of October 7, 2023, in which 1,200 people were murdered, and of the ongoing war with the Hamas terrorist organization, which has claimed the lives of hundreds of IDF soldiers.

3. Day 219: IDF continues operations in Central Gaza and Rafah despite warnings from Egypt - All Israel News
According to Palestinian reports, the IDF again dropped tens of thousands of leaflets in eastern Rafah, warning civilians to evacuate to the expanded humanitarian zone in al-Mawasi.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) estimated that around 300,000 people have already evacuated Rafah since the IDF began to issuing warnings last week.
The IDF also urged Palestinians to temporarily evacuate Jabaliya as it continues to counter Hamas' attempts to reestablish a presence in the city following an operational pause intended to allow time for hostage negotiations. After the call, IDF troops began an operation overnight on Saturday to thwart Hamas' efforts to reassemble its terrorist infrastructure and establish its operatives in the area. 4. British FM warns against arms embargo of Israel - World Israel
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron voiced opposition to an arms embargo on Israel on Sunday, telling the BBC in an interview it would embolden the Hamas terrorist group in Gaza.
“Just to simply announce today that we will change our approach on arms exports, it would make Hamas stronger and it would make a hostage deal less likely,” Cameron told British journalist Laura Kuenssberg.
London, like Washington, is against a full-scale military invasion of the last Hamas stronghold in Rafah city, with both governments citing humanitarian concerns. However, Cameron has split with the Biden administration, which said it would stop providing offensive weapons to Israel should it conduct a wider operation in Gaza’s southernmost city. (Read more)

5. State Department raises ‘serious concerns’ about arms transfers to Israel - JNS.org
The U.S. State Department issued a report to Congress about U.S. arms transfers to Israel on Friday that is deeply critical of the Jewish state but stops short of concluding that it is violating international law.
All seven of the countries detailed in the 46-page report are deemed by the U.S. government to have provided “credible and reliable” assurances that they are complying with international law and that Washington can therefore continue to provide them with arms.
The report was sent in response to U.S. President Joe Biden’s National Security Memorandum 20 (NSM-20), which requires the U.S. State and Defense Departments to report annually on whether countries that receive U.S.-provided weapons are using them “in a manner not consistent with international law, including international humanitarian law” or whether the country has impeded American humanitarian aid. 1. Report: Biden’s DHS Will Start Issuing ID Cards to Migrants Crossing Border This Summer- Breitbart
President Joe Biden’s Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is reportedly starting a pilot program to provide migrants, released into the United States and placed into deportation proceedings, with identification (ID) cards.
Fox News Digital’s Adam Shaw reported that DHS officials have confirmed the agency will begin implementing the Secure Docket Card program this summer, offering photo IDs to about 10,000 migrants who cross the United States-Mexico border and are subsequently released into the U.S. interior.
“[Immigration and Customs Enforcement] confirmed to Fox News Digital this week the pilot program is expected to commence this summer with the distribution of approximately 10,000 cards,” Shaw reported. “While the agency stressed that plans are ‘pre-decisional’ and still subject to change, it is expected the cards will be issued in three or four locations in the U.S.”
A spokesperson with DHS told Shaw the “specifics” of the photo IDs “are under development” but stressed that they “will not be an official form of federal identification.”

2. Biden Admin Sues Iowa Over Immigration Law Allowing State To Arrest And Deport Illegal Immigrants- Daily Wire
The Biden administration filed a lawsuit against Iowa on Thursday over a law that allows state authorities to arrest and deport immigrants in Iowa who have previously been deported or denied entry into the country.
The suit, filed by the Justice Department in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Iowa, says that the law violates the Constitution and asks that Iowa be blocked from enforcing the law. Governor Kim Reynolds (R) signed the measure into law last month, saying it was necessary because the Biden administration had failed to secure the border.
“Iowa cannot disregard the U.S. Constitution and settled Supreme Court precedent,” said Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Brian M. Boynton. “We have brought this action to ensure that Iowa adheres to the framework adopted by Congress and the Constitution for regulation of immigration.”

3.Trump Civil Fraud Judge’s Talks With Attorney Under Investigation By Ethics Commission: REPORT- Daily Caller
The New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct is investigating an alleged interaction between a New York real estate lawyer and the judge who issued a $454 million judgement against former President Donald Trump, according to NBC New York.
Real estate lawyer Adam Leitman Bailey said he had a conversation with Judge Arthur Engoron a few weeks before the judge’s decision was due, NBC New York reported. Democratic Attorney General Letitia James of New York sued Trump in September 2022, alleging he overstated the value of real estate holdings in order to obtain loans.
“I actually had the ability to speak to him three weeks ago,” Bailey said in the Feb. 16 interview, according to NBC New York. “I saw him in the corner [at the courthouse] and I told my client, ‘I need to go.’ And I walked over and we started talking … I wanted him to know what I think and why…I really want him to get it right.”
“No ex parte conversation concerning this matter occurred between Justice Engoron and Mr. Bailey or any other person. The decision Justice Engoron issued February 16 was his alone, was deeply considered, and was wholly uninfluenced by this individual,” a spokesman for Engoron told NBC New York. Read more

Independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. believes abortion — even the murder of a full-term baby — should be a decision made by the mother.
The presidential hopeful does not believe anyone should be able to step in and stop the murder of a full-term baby, making the remark during an interview with podcaster Sage Steele.
Kennedy said he believes that the government should not be involved in determining if and when a woman can have an abortion.

6. Fmr Secret Service Agent Says Agency Whistleblowers Are ‘Raising The Alarms’ After Alleged Petition Circulates- Daily Caller
Former Secret Service Agent Tim Miller stated Thursday on Fox News that agency whistleblowers are “raising alarms” after an alleged petition has circulated flagging concerns within the organization.
Miller appeared on “Jesse Watters Primetime” to discuss the recent claims from Bloomberg News senior White House reporter Jessica Jacobs, who tweeted Thursday morning the alleged petition circulating within the U.S. Secret Service agency has “a number of recent Secret Service incidents indicative of inadequate training” and “potential insider threats.” Fox host asked Miller about his thoughts regarding the issue, to which Miller raised concerns of a potential issue.
“So Jesse, the defund the police boat has taken on water,” Miller said. “I think if you look, first it was the IRS then it’s the FBI. Now you have internal Secret Service agents that are raising the alarm and if you think about it, it’s pretty simple. They are concerned that our mission as the Secret Service agent is compromised.”
“That should cause everybody to go, ‘Well wait a minute, this is the premier protection agency in the world,'” he added. “I’ve been a Marine, I’ve been a police officer and when I went through that training it was challenging. 7. House Homeland chairman calls Biden's new asylum rule 'unserious' and 'politically motivated'- Just The News
A top House Republican say(s) the new Biden administration rule to speed up the asylum-claims process for some migrants is "unserious" and "politically motivated."
The rule is meant to affect migrants with criminal records or those who would otherwise be eventually deemed ineligible for asylum in the United States, according to the Associated Press.
The rule is a potential prelude to broader actions from President Joe Biden later this year that would impose a bigger crackdown at the border, the wire service also report.
"This rule appears to be an unserious, politically motivated attempt to address a significant problem the Biden administration itself created," says GOP Congressman Mark Green, the chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee.

8. Biden admin's National Guard 'power grab' slammed by former general as governors put up rare united front- Fox
A proposal that would reassign Air National Guard troops to the Space Force without the consent of governors is an "existential threat" to the part-time force that would erode operational efficiency and eliminate a longstanding precedent, critics say.
Legislative Proposal 480 was submitted to the Senate Armed Services Committee by the Department of Defense in an effort to bolster the Space Force, the U.S. military's youngest branch created during the Trump administration. The move would override a longtime tradition that requires the Department of Defense to acquire gubernatorial approval before transferring Guard members to another military branch.
"This is really a wholesale harvesting of the units, the people, the structure, the equipment and the facilities in transferring them out of the National Guard from the governors and just placing them in the active component Space Force," retired Maj. Gen. Francis M. McGinn, president of the National Guard Association, told Fox News Digital.
Under LP480, Air National Guard troops who perform space missions could be brought over to the Space Force and designated as part-timers without approval from the governor of the state where the unit is based. Read more

UNGA Votes 143-9 to Upgrade Palestinian Statehood Status
|

|
The United Nations General Assembly voted 143-9 to upgrade the status of Palestine as a non-member observer state, granting it all but voting rights with regard to all activities related to its plenum.
Argentina, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Israel, Micronesia, Nauru, Papua New Guinea, Palau, and the United States opposed the resolution.
Among those countries that supported the text were 13 European Union members, Belgium, Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, France, Greece, Ireland, Luxembourg, Portugal, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, and Spain.
Australia and New Zealand also supported the resolution, while Canada, Great Britain, and Ukraine abstained.There are already 143 countries that recognize Palestine as a state.
The UNGA vote, which is mostly symbolic, is viewed as an international referendum in support of unilateral Palestinian statehood. (Jerusalem Post) Read more here.

Northern Lights Sweep U.S.—California To Florida—In ‘Potentially Historic Event’
|
|
|
Stargazers in the northern U.S. and Canada were treated to a rare showing of the northern lights late Friday night and before dawn early Saturday morning, the result of a “severe” geomagnetic storm that triggered what the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration called an “unusual and potentially historic event.”
A geomagnetic storm—the result of an eruption of plasma from the sun’s atmosphere—brought the northern lights into northern California, the northern Plains, Great Lakes and the East Coast as far south as the Carolinas and Florida late Friday night.
The lights, known as the Aurora Borealis, technically occur throughout the year, though they are not always visible and best seen between September and April, making Friday’s lights an anomaly.
NOAA’s Space Weather Prediction Center estimated a high likelihood of viewing the lights along the Canadian border, with a lower likelihood across the northern U.S., and predicted the lights will remain visible Saturday night.
The northern lights were not the only astronomical phenomenon to come out of the intense solar storm this week. A Florida beach is once again the site of an amazing move of God where thousands were baptized in Jesus' Name earlier this week.
The Church of Eleven22 baptized more than 1,600 people on the shores of Hanna Park Beach in Jacksonville, FL Sunday.
