Tennessee Governor Signs Laws Protecting Minors from Drag Shows, Gender Transition Procedures
|
|
Tennessee Governor Bill Lee (R) on Thursday signed two bills designed to protect children under the age of 18 from harmful applications of transgender ideology. Tennessee Senate Bill 1 forbids gender transition procedures on minors, while Tennessee Senate Bill 3 forbids drag performances with minors present.
SB 1 forbids “a healthcare professional, establishment, or facility” from “surgically removing, modifying, altering, or entering into tissues, cavities, or organs” of a minor or “prescribing, administering, or dispensing any drug or device” to a minor “for the purpose of: (1) Enabling a minor to identify with, or live as, a purported identity inconsistent with the minor’s sex; or (2) Treating purported discomfort or distress from a discordance between the minor’s sex and asserted identity.” It may be enforced by private action, licensing boards, and the state’s attorney general and reporter. It contains an exception for gender transition procedures initiated before the bill’s effective date of July 1.
The act replaces a much briefer ban on gender transition procedures for minors passed through the Tennessee legislature in 2021. In October 2022, conservative activists exposed Vanderbilt University for performing gender transition procedures on minors.
... Also sponsored by the Senate majority leaders, SB 3 passed the Senate 26-6 on February 9. The House then substituted it for an identical bill, labeled HB 9, amended it, and passed it 74-19 on February 23. The Senate confirmed the House’s amendments 26-6 on March 2.
Later on March 2, Governor Lee signed both bills into law.
By enacting SB 3, Tennessee becomes the first state in the nation to prohibit drag shows where minors are present. (The Washington Stand) Read more here.

DHS has a program gathering domestic intelligence — and virtually no one knows about it
|

For years, the Department of Homeland Security has run a virtually unknown program gathering domestic intelligence, one of many revelations in a wide-ranging tranche of internal documents reviewed by POLITICO.
Those documents also reveal that a significant number of employees in DHS’s intelligence office have raised concerns that the work they are doing could be illegal.
Under the domestic-intelligence program, officials are allowed to seek interviews with just about anyone in the United States. That includes people held in immigrant detention centers, local jails, and federal prison. DHS’s intelligence professionals have to say they’re conducting intelligence interviews, and they have to tell the people they seek to interview that their participation is voluntary. But the fact that they’re allowed to go directly to incarcerated people — circumventing their lawyers — raises important civil liberties concerns, according to legal experts.

1. Alleged Israeli airstrikes shut down Aleppo airport - JNS.org
(March 7, 2023 / JNS) Alleged Israeli airstrikes shut down the airport in the northern Syrian city of Aleppo early on Tuesday morning, according to Syrian state media.
“At 2:07 a.m. on Tuesday, the Israeli enemy carried out an aerial act of aggression from the direction of the Mediterranean, west of Lattakia, targeting Aleppo International Airport, which led to material damage at the airport as it went out of service,” SANAreported.
There were no immediate reports of casualties.
The Israel Defense Forces did not comment on the report, in accordance with Jerusalem’s long-standing policy regarding specific foreign operations. However, the military has acknowledged in the past conducting hundreds of strikes on Iran-backed forces attempting to establish a foothold in Syria. (Read more)

2. Police ordered on high alert in Jerusalem after deadly Jenin raid - Times of Israel
Police were put on increased alert in Jerusalem and surrounding areas Tuesday, amid fears that Palestinians may attempt to exact revenge for a raid by Israeli troops in the West Bank city of Jenin that left six dead hours earlier.
The heightened level of readiness was put in place as the holiday of Purim began in the capital, the largest of several cities that celebrate the Jewish festival a day after the rest of the country.
“Police Commissioner Kobi Shabtai has ordered increased vigilance and a visible police presence in Jerusalem,” a police statement said. (Read more)

3. Ben-Gvir: Next political assassination is being planned - World Israel News
National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir said Monday that there is credible danger of an imminent political assassination due to the Left’s upheaval over the government’s plans for judicial reform.
Speaking on Israel Radio’s “This Morning” program, the minister said he has received credible intelligence information that some protestors are planning the unthinkable.
“There are anarchists on the left who crossed the red lines long ago and are planning to assassinate me or the prime minister,” he said.
He hastened to add that it was only a small minority, saying, “God forbid, it’s forbidden to generalize and most of them are good and moral people, but there are people among them who are planning the next murder.” (Read more)

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu on Tuesday evening spoke with the Head of IDF Central Command, the Head of the Judea and Samaria Division, the commander of the Israel National Counter-Terrorism Unit, the commander of the Border Police, Israel Security Agency (ISA or Shin Bet) operational unit commanders and his Military Secretary.
During the meeting, Netanyahu was updated on additional details of the operation in Jenin in which four terrorists were eliminated, including the terrorist who murdered Hallel and Yagel Yaniv in Huwara a week and a half ago.
"This was an exceptional intelligence and operational achievement. This is already the fourth action that you have carried out recently in the heart of the terrorist bases located in refugee camps," the Prime Minister said.

5. Israel to Inaugurate Permanent Embassy in Turkmenistan - Algemeiner
JNS.org – In a regional show of strength, Israel will open a permanent embassy in Turkmenistan, the former Soviet republic and central Asian nation that is on Iran’s doorstep, Foreign Minister Eli Cohen announced Sunday.
The inauguration comes as another Muslim neighbor of Iran—Azerbaijan—is opening its first ever embassy in the Jewish state. Both diplomatic moves signal Israel is a present and growing influence in the region.
Israel’s top diplomat is slated to travel to Turkmenistan soon to inaugurate the official mission in the capital city of Ashgabat, located about 15 miles away from the border with the Islamic Republic.

1. House GOP Offers 'Parents' Bill of Rights' Amid 'Toxic Movement Infiltrating Our Schools' - CBN News
During the pandemic, many parents across the country were outraged after being called terrorists simply because they wanted to know what their children were learning in the classroom. Thursday, Republican congressional leaders introduced the Parents' Bill of Rights Act, which promises to give parents more control over their children's education.
"One thing we know in this country is that education is the great equalizer and we want the parents to be empowered," House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) told a group of lawmakers and parents gathered on Capitol Hill.
McCarthy says the Parents' Bill of Rights Act sits on 5 main pillars:
- The right to know what's being taught in schools and the reading material
- The right to be heard
- The right to see the school budget and spending
- The right to protect their child's privacy, and
- The right to be updated on any violent activity at school

2. Hunter Plotted to Betray Key Family Business Partner Expected to Cooperate in GOP House Probe - Brietbart
Hunter Biden plotted in 2019 to betray the family’s top financial lieutenant Eric Schwerin amid their crumbling relationship, built upon an off-the-books business arrangement, text messages obtained by Breitbart News from Hunter’s laptop reveal.
Hunter’s damaged relationship with Schwerin is notable because Schwerin is expected to “soon” provide revealing documents about the Biden family business to Republican House investigators, according to the House Oversight Committee. It is unknown what information he may provide in the wake of his deteriorated relationship with Hunter.
Schwerin is a powerful figure in the Biden family business. He shared bank accounts with Hunter and President Joe Biden and was president of Rosemont Seneca Partners, a fund created by Hunter and several associates that created business deals in Russia, Ukraine, China, and Romania. 3. Advocates Sound Alarm About Satanist After-School Clubs Sprouting Across The Country - The Daily Caller
The Satanic Temple (TST) made headlines in 2022 for fighting for the right to create after-school clubs for students and has recently been launching new groups across the country, raising concerns for religious advocates about the potential impact Satanism may have on students’ perception of faith.
A TST “After-School Satan Club” was approved in December 2022 at a Virginia elementary school, provoking many parents, who were disturbed by the push to indoctrinate children into Satanism, to protest the club, according to RealClearEducation. TST has announced the formation of multiple new clubs in New York, Pennsylvania and Colorado in just the past month and religious advocates have taken note of the trend, telling the Daily Caller News Foundation that the normalization of Satanism could be detrimental to students later in life.
“A satanic club is the antithesis of religion,” Penny Nance, CEO and president of Concerned Women for America, the nation’s largest women’s public policy organization, told the DCNF. “Groups like this have free speech rights but Satanism is not a religion. The fact that there are more of these clubs popping up means kids are searching for something to believe in.” (Read more)

We pray for this conversation to enter the public arena, because it is no longer permissible for schools to hide behind the so-called separation clause, since every religion except Christianity can be found in schools today.

4. Iowa Aims to Expunge Same-Sex Marriage - The Washington Stand
The political battle to defend natural marriage is far from over in the nation’s heartland, as Iowa legislators have introduced two bills that would expunge same-sex marriage from state law and declare a national law redefining marriage “null and void.” The bills come as yet another local Republican Party chapter condemned Senator Joni Ernst (R-Iowa), one of 12 Republican senators who voted for the so-called Respect for Marriage Act.
On Tuesday, eight Iowa state representatives introduced House Joint Resolution 8, which would amend the state constitution to read: “In accordance with the laws of nature and nature’s God, the state of Iowa recognizes the definition of marriage to be the solemnized union between one human biological male and one human biological female.” The measure must pass both this session and next session, then go to a statewide referendum of the voters no earlier than 2025. 5. Public Schools Banning Military Recruiters - Todd Starnes
Army recruiters struggling to meet enlistment goals say one of their biggest hurdles is getting into high schools, where they can meet students one on one. But they received a recent boost from a recruiting advocate whom school leaders couldn’t turn away: the secretary of the Army.
During three days of back-to-back meetings across Chicago last month, Army Secretary Christine Wormuth spoke with students, school leaders, college heads, recruiters and an array of young people involved in ROTC or junior ROTC programs. Again and again, she asked, what can the Army do to better reach young people and sell itself as a good career choice.
In blunt sessions, recruiting leaders told her they need more and better access to high school students. But they also said the atmosphere can at times be unfriendly — or worse — with school leaders, many of whom are skeptical that the Army offers a good career option for their students. “I’m going to use the word hostile,” one recruiter told her. “There’s no other word to use.”

6. Two of the four Americans kidnapped in Mexico are dead, two alive - Fox News
Two of the four American citizens kidnapped in Mexico are dead while the other two remain alive, Reuters reported Tuesday, citing the governor of Tamaulipas.
Tamaulipas Gov. Américo Villarreal said Tuesday that one of the surviving Americans was wounded and the other was not, while two of the four U.S. citizens who traveled to Mexico were found dead.
The FBI is still working to return the missing Americans, who were abducted after being caught in the crossfire of rival cartels shortly after crossing the U.S. border with Mexico.

This city Matamoros has a bloody history, so we pray for it to be redeemed by the shed blood of Jesus, rather than covered with the blood of innocent or even guilty people, in Jesus name. 7. White House weighs mass poultry vaccination amid bird flu outbreak - The Hill
The Biden administration is considering the use of vaccines in poultry as one option to address a bird flu epidemic that has killed millions of chickens and contributed to high egg prices.
“There are a range of options the United States regularly considers when there is any outbreak that could affect the security and safety of the United States’ food supply,” a White House National Security Council spokesperson said in a statement on Monday. “Right now, we are focused on promoting and enhancing high-impact biosafety practices and procedures.”
Those safety procedures include efforts to prevent transmission of the bird flu through enhanced disinfection among workers.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) is monitoring the threat of the avian flu’s risk to humans, which is considered to be low. The U.S. Department of Agriculture has been responding whenever the flu is detected among bird populations, and the agency has begun testing potential poultry vaccines. No such vaccine is authorized yet. (Read more)

Can I Have A Light?

Looking at the headlines in the daily news, on television and radio, it takes no effort to see that the world we live in is a very dark place, getting darker by the minute. The COVID oppressions, government spying on citizens, the lies peddled every day as truth, the denial of truth as lies, the promotion of sexual deviance in schools and on television are all examples of how far American society has fallen. It’s as if America, once a powerful example of the light of Christ, has become part of a fabric of darkness ushering along the antichrist spirit as spoken by the prophet Daniel where words are spoken against God, the saints are being worn out, and the laws are changing to magnify darkness rather than justice.
George Washington said in his 1796 Farewell Speech, “Of all the dispositions and habits which lead to political prosperity, religion and morality are indispensable supports.” In those words, and in the words of many others, to keep a Constitutional Republic there must be vigilance on the part of the people–the moral people of God. It would appear that many Christians are apathetic and believe in relative truth, reasoning their way out of their responsibilities to God and country by deferring to the immoral and unrighteous as stewards of the nation’s soul. Prayer or Guns in America's Schools?

Throughout the 17th and 18th centuries, the American Founders positioned Scripture as the bedrock of society, overlaying the nation’s foundation with the fundamental principles from Old Testament wisdom literature and the Good News of eternal life found in Jesus Christ.
The grand evangelistic mission by America’s Founders materialized on May 13, 1607, as approximately 144 settlers and sailors arrived on America’s shores aboard the English ships the Godspeed, the Susan Constant, and the Discovery. As they disembarked they erected a cross, took communion, and pledged “to reach the People within these shores with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and raise up Godly generations after us.”
Some thirteen years later, on November 11, 1620, the Mayflower anchored at what is now Provincetown Harbor, Cape Cod. Before going ashore, the passengers established a set of rules for self-governance, pledging their mission “for the glory of God and advancement of the Christian faith.” [Mayflower Compact]
Puritan passion for Biblical education began then to underpin the nation’s culture with 106 of 108 of the first colleges established in America as distinctly Christian. Christian character and values sat the standard for the “fundamental principles of civil and religious liberty and just systems of civil government,” as historian Benjamin Morris noted in his magnum opus from 1864, The Christian Life and Character of the Civil Institutions of the United States.
For 250 years, the greatest export of America was Jesus Christ, not democratic capitalism. For the glory of a nation lies in its righteousness, as Proverbs 14:34 declares, rather than in its GDP or military prowess. The nation’s rights, as per the Founders, come from God, not from the government, and the purpose of government is to protect the liberties guaranteed by the U.S. Constitution.1

Then, in the late 18th century, devotees of the French Revolution and its anti-God ideology began infiltrating America’s halls of higher education with their secular creed of Liberté, Égalité, Fraternité [liberty, equality, fraternity], undermining the Biblical foundation laid down by the American Founders to secure sustainable freedom.
American Christendom, inopportunely, relinquished its fundamental role in the public square early in the 20th century, thereby enabling the State to take on godlike proportions ... as prayer, the Bible, and the Ten Commandments were banned from public education and government buildings in the mid-20th century. . .
To make it through, 1) senior pastors should re-establish prayer in America’s churches, and 2) American Christendom should become conversant in the acquisition and use of the larger denominations of political currency. Pastors and pews ought to engage the culture and play the long game in obedience to Jesus’ ekklesia Kingdom assignment in Matthew 16:18.

"The military is using its influence to get a larger and larger share of the resources of the Chinese regime," Gatestone Institute Senior Fellow Gordon Chang told host Maria Bartiromo on "Mornings with Maria" Monday.
"The fact is that China is a surveillance state. It's like a 1984 state, totally dictatorial," former Senator Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., also chimed in. "And unfortunately, that's made it more difficult for us to deal with the Chinese."

'Atmospheric River' Threatens California
With Flash Floods, More Snow

California is expected to receive more snow later this week, likely bringing more flooding to the state that has grappled with above-average rainfall throughout this winter.
AccuWeather senior meteorologist Alan Reppert told Newsweek on Monday afternoon that the "atmospheric river" will likely strike California's northern and central regions on Friday. The storm could bring up to 8 inches of rain to the Sierra Nevada mountain range, bringing the risk of floods to much of the northern part of the state, according to AccuWeather.
California, known for its dry conditions, has experienced continuous storms recently, bringing a high amount of precipitation that has caused substantial flooding and damage to the state's infrastructure, while also alleviating a years-long drought. Read More

Democratic New York City Mayor Eric Adams doubled down on his Christian faith Sunday in an interview with CNN days after saying he does not believe in separation of church and state. During an interfaith breakfast Tuesday, Adam’s chief adviser, Ingrid Lewis-Martin, introduced the mayor saying his administration “does not believe” it must “separate church from state. Adams affirmed this in his speech: “Don’t tell me about no separation of church and state. State is the body, church is the heart. You take the heart out of the body, the body dies. I can’t separate my beliefs because I’m an elected official. When I walk, I walk with God. When I talk, I talk with God. When I put policies in place, I put them in with a God-like approach to them – that’s who I am.”
CNN’s Dana Bash played a portion of Adams’ speech before questioning him on it. “You also said that you implement policies, with a ‘god-like approach’ and said ‘when we took prayer out of schools, guns came into schools.’ You know that those comments alarmed some people,” Bash said. “Even some religious leaders who were in the room, a rabbi who was there called it dangerous.” “Well listen, let’s be clear on something,” Adams said. “The last words I said after I was sworn in is ‘so help me God.’ On our dollar bill have ‘In God We Trust.’ Every president touched a religious book when they were sworn in, except for three. Faith is who I am. And anyone who takes those words as stated that I’m going to try to compel people to follow my religion, no. I’m a child of God. I believe that wholly. I’m going to follow the law. TRUMP: 1/6 Committee Should Be Tried for ‘TREASON’

Former President Trump said the “crooked J 6 Unselect Committee…should be prosecuted for their lies and, quite frankly, treason!”
Trump promoted Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s coverage of the Jan. 6, 2021 footage that had not previously been seen by the public.
“Tucker Carlson a MUST WATCH tonight. Releasing more VIDEO which was ‘HIDDEN BY THE CROOKED J 6 UNSELECT COMMITTEE.’ They should be prosecuted for their lies and, quite frankly, TREASON!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
Trump also called for the release of all those arrested for their conduct at the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
“Let the January 6 prisoners go,” Trump wrote. “They were convicted, or are awaiting trial, based on a giant lie, a radical left con job. Thank you to Tucker Carlson and Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy for what you both have done. New video footage is irrefutable.”

Carlson released the first portion of angles of footage that had never been seen before from the Jan. 6, 2021, events at the Capitol he had received exclusively from McCarthy, The Hill reported.
Carlson said, “Deadly insurrection. Everything about that phrase is a lie. Very little about Jan. 6 was organized or violent. Surveillance video from inside the Capitol shows mostly peaceful chaos.”
Carlson emphasized that members of the Jan. 6 select House committee lied about what they saw on the security footage.
