Trump indicted after Manhattan DA probe for hush money payments
|
|
|
Former President Donald Trump has been indicted as part of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office's years-long investigation, possibly for hush money payments. Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg has been investigating Trump for hush money payments made leading up to the 2016 presidential election. These include the $130,000 payment made to adult film actress Stormy Daniels, and the $150,000 payment made to former Playboy model Karen McDougal, Fox News Digital has learned.
Hush money payments made to both McDougal and Daniels were revealed and reported by Fox News in 2018. Those payments had been investigated by the U.S. Attorney's Office in the Southern District of New York and by the Federal Election Commission.
Federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York opted out of charging Trump related to the Stormy Daniels payment in 2019, even as Cohen implicated him as part of his plea deal. The Federal Election Commission also tossed its investigation into the matter in 2021.
"This evening we contacted Mr. Trump’s attorney to coordinate his surrender to the Manhattan D.A.’s Office for arraignment on a Supreme Court indictment, which remains under seal," a spokesperson for the Manhattan District Attorney's Office said in a statement Thursday. "Guidance will be provided when the arraignment date is selected."
Trump reacted to his indictment, slamming Bragg for his "obsession" with trying to "get Trump," while warning the move to charge a former president of the United States will "backfire." (Fox News) Read more here.

Top House, Senate Republicans outraged about Trump indictment: 'A dark day in American history'
|

Top Republican lawmakers reacted with outrage to the unprecedented indictment of former president Donald Trump on Thursday as part of the Manhattan District Attorney's Office's years-long investigation.
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg has been investigating Trump for hush money payments made leading up to the 2016 presidential election.
House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., stated in a tweet Thursday, "Alvin Bragg has irreparably damaged our country in an attempt to interfere in our Presidential election."
"As he routinely frees violent criminals to terrorize the public, he weaponized our sacred system of justice against President Donald Trump. The American people will not tolerate this injustice, and the House of Representatives will hold Alvin Bragg and his unprecedented abuse of power to account," McCarthy said.
"Outrageous," House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jim Jordan, R-Ohio, tweeted on Thursday.
House GOP Conference Chairwoman Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., told Fox News Digital in a statement, "The unprecedented election interference from corrupt Socialist District Attorney Alvin Bragg is a political witch-hunt and a dark day for America. Biden says transgender people 'shape our nation's soul' in official proclamation

President Biden issued an official proclamation declaring that transgender Americans "shape our nation's soul" and established a holiday relating to the group this week.
Biden issued the proclamation Thursday to mark March 31, 2023, as the Transgender Day of Visibility, a day some transgender activists have renamed to "day of vengeance."
"Transgender Americans shape our Nation's soul -- proudly serving in the military, curing deadly diseases, holding elected office, running thriving businesses, fighting for justice, raising families, and much more," Biden wrote in the Thursday morning proclamation.
"Today, too many transgender Americans are still denied…rights and freedoms," the president's statement continued. "A wave of discriminatory state laws is targeting transgender youth, terrifying families and hurting kids who are not hurting anyone. An epidemic of violence against transgender women and girls, in particular women and girls of color, has taken lives far too soon."
Biden's statement went on to tout what he outlined as his administration's efforts in supporting the American transgender community. The president also pointed to his decision to allow transgender people to serve in the military once again, as well as his efforts to include what he described as "gender markers" on U.S. passports.
Several states, including West Virginia and most recently Kentucky, have joined together with nine other states in banning or restricting transgender surgeries and other care for minors — something Biden and his administration have attacked as being discriminatory and cruel.

- Father we choose to respect the dignity of all people; but we will not accept lies and ridiculous statements, such as Biden’s latest, that contradict reality and our Christian beliefs and might cause some to stumble. God and Father, we humbly ask that You remove Biden and restore what the locusts have eaten in our nation and in Biden’s life, as we repent. We praise You that eleven states have legislation banning or restricting transgender surgeries and other care for minors and that nearly two dozen other states are considering bills that would restrict or ban transgender medical treatments. May these bills be quickly passed to protect our children--families—society; and may the rest of our 50 states soon follow.
Blanket our nation even more with Your word and Your salvation. May the truth be told and true justice reign. Thank You, Lord God, that by Your mercy revival is upon us in the midst of evil and chaos; and the harvest will be gathered in.

Senate Votes to End COVID National Emergency, Sending Bill to Biden's Desk

The Senate passed a resolution, 68-23, on March 29 to end the COVID-19 national emergency sooner than scheduled.
The measure, which was introduced by Rep. Paul Gosar (R-Ariz.) and passed the House on Feb. 1, now heads to President Joe Biden, who is expected to sign it, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) told Democrats, according to media reports.
The White House planned to end both the COVID national emergency—which then-President Donald Trump enacted on March 13, 2020—on May 11. However, this bill will terminate the national emergency a month earlier than scheduled.
The administration is also set to end the COVID public health emergency—which Trump’s Department of Health and Human Services enacted on Jan. 31, 2020—on May 11. A separate measure to end that, called the Pandemic is Over Act, passed the House on Jan. 31. The Senate has yet to take it up. (Epoch Times) Read more

1. Tens of thousands of judicial reform supporters protest in Tel Aviv - World Israel News
Some 30,000 right-wing protesters in support of the government’s proposal for judicial reform took to the streets of Tel Aviv on Thursday evening, waving Israel and Likud flags.
Protesters in the so-called “March for Freedom” called on the government not to surrender to the left during negotiations on the judicial reform.
Chants of “the people demand judicial reform,” “Bibi king of Israel,” “democracy at the ballots” and “the High Court is screwing us all,” were heard among protesters, who also carried signs reading, “I’m a second-class citizen.”
Despite earlier promises from the march’s organizers that the protest would not involve attempts to block highways, hundreds of protesters made it onto the Ayalon highway. However, Israeli media said that they had police permission. (Read more)

2. FM assures US officials legal reform 'will be reached through compromise'- Israel Hayom
Foreign Minister Eli Cohen has begun talks with senior US officials with regard to Israel's highly contested judicial reform and assured them that the legislation will be reached "through dialogue and negotiations."
Cohen spoke with Sen. Lindsey Graham, one of Israel's biggest supporters in Congress on Wednesday, and is expected to talk with Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Thursday.
In his talk with Graham, Cohen reportedly stressed the need for "broad national consensus. We are facing a great challenge of restoring public trust in Israeli democracy."
He also noted that "Israel should work together with the US to clarify the issues over which the two countries disagree. We need to work together to strengthen our ties that are based on shared values and interests. It is vital on Israel's part to expand the Abraham Accords." The foreign minister stressed that Israel remained "a strong democracy and the demonstrations are the very proof of that." (Read more)

A senior coalition lawmaker wants Benny Gantz’s National Unity party to join the coalition in order to “balance” it, a report said Thursday.
Moshe Gafni, No. 2 in the United Torah Judaism party and the leader of its Degel HaTorah faction, met Gantz recently as part of efforts to reach an agreement on acceptable judicial reforms, the Kan public broadcaster reported, citing unnamed officials familiar with the content of the meeting.
Dialogue was launched this week between the coalition and opposition parties after Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called a timeout on the government’s highly divisive push to radically remake the justice system, politicizing the court and, the attorney general has warned, giving the government almost unrestrained power.
During the meeting, the report said, Gafni conveyed the message that he would like to see Gantz and his centrist party join the coalition to balance it — a likely reference to the far-right Otzma Yehudit and Religious Zionism coalition parties. (Read more)

Alleged Israeli airstrikes targeted the Damascus area for the second time in 24 hours on Thursday night, according to Syrian state media.
Syrian air defenses were activated in response.
On Wednesday night, alleged Israeli airstrikes targeted the Damascus area as well, with Syrian state media reporting two Syrian soldiers were injured in the strikes.
The opposition Capital Voice news site reported that the strikes on Wednesday night targeted an air defense base and a moving target on a highway south of Damascus believed to be the convoy of a "foreign figure" on its way to the Kafr Souseh neighborhood. Iranian and Hezbollah forces are known to operate in that neighborhood. (Read more)

5. Israeli Archeologists Discover 6,000-Year-Old Fishing Hook in Ashkelon - Algemeiner
i24 News – One of the oldest copper fishhooks in the world was discovered during excavations in Ashkelon, southern Israel, the Israel Antiquity Authority (IAA) announced on Wednesday.
The 6,000-year-old discovery was made in 2018 when the IAA carried out excavations prior to the construction of the Agamim neighborhood in Ashkelon. However, the find is only being presented to the public now; it will be exhibited for the first time at the 48th Archeological Congress on April 3, the IAA press release said.
“This unique find is 6.5 cm (2.5 inches) long and 4 cm (1.5 inches) wide, its large dimensions making it suitable for hunting 2–3 m (0.7-1.2 inches) long sharks or large tuna fish. More ancient fishhooks found previously were made of bone and were much smaller than this one,” said Dr. Yael Abadi-Reiss, co-director of the excavation and Dr. Daniel Varga, both from the Israel Antiquity Authority. 2. McCarthy Sees “Dire Ramifications” for US If Biden Won’t Negotiate on Debt Ceiling – The Epoch Times
Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) warned in a March 28 letter that there could be “dire ramifications” for “the entire nation” if President Joe Biden refuses to negotiate with Republicans on the debt ceiling.
Biden has taken a hard line on the debt ceiling since Republicans took the House, suggesting that he will not allow Republicans to use the issue to force compromises. Republicans, on the other hand, hope to use the issue to force Biden to give concessions and reduce federal spending.
Two months ago, at the start of the 118th Congress, Biden nevertheless indicated a willingness to meet with McCarthy to discuss the dispute. This public willingness to talk, McCarthy said, has not translated to negotiations between the two leaders.

3. Children Groomed for Trans Lifestyle by Gender Ideology in Schools: Experts – The Epoch Times
Maryland parents are on the warpath against gender ideology, which they believe is steering their children onto the wrong track.
And so the mothers and fathers of Frederick County have petitioned the County Superintendent of Schools to notify a parent when his or her child signals a desire to change gender.
On March 23, a public forum in Eldersburg, Maryland, heard from a panel of experts that public schools are grooming vulnerable students to transition away from their sex at birth.
The gathering was sponsored by Moms for Liberty and co-sponsored by the Heritage Foundation and the Leadership Institute.
The word “grooming” might refer to two types, according to Dr. Jay Richards, director of the DeVos Center for Life, Religion and Family at the Heritage Foundation, who spoke to the gathering. “One is grooming a child for sex,” he said, “but there is also ideological grooming that gets a child in a total new thought world. 4. White House Urged Meta to Censor WhatsApp Messages To Combat Vaccine Hesitancy – The Epoch Times
President Joe Biden’s administration pressured Meta to restrict messages on WhatsApp, according to newly disclosed emails.
Rob Flaherty, an assistant to the president, messaged Meta executives in March 2021 to ask about how the company was working to reduce “harm,” one of the emails shows.
“On Whatsapp, which I may seem like I’m playing gotcha, but I guess I’m confused about how you’re measuring reduction of harm,” he wrote in one email. “If you can’t see the message, I’m genuinely curious—how do you know what kinds of messages you’ve cut down on? Assuming you’ve got a good mousetrap here, that’s the kind of info we’re looking for … what interventions you’ve taken, and what you’d found to work and not work?”
“I guess I have the same question here as I do on Facebook on Instagram. Do you guys think you have this under control? You’re obviously going to say yes to that, so I guess the real question is, as ever: how are you measuring success? Reduction in forwarding? Measured impact across Facebook properties?” Flaherty added in another email.

5. After Calling for a Renewed Moratorium on Gain-of-Function Research, Former CDC Director warns that “a Great Pandemic is Coming” – Pandemic.news
Former CDC Director, Dr. Robert Redfield, recently appeared on an episode of Hill.TV’s Rising to warn that a “great pandemic is coming.” He said the new pandemic will be a consequence of international bioterrorism and gain-of-function research, that continues, despite being implicated as the cause of covid-19.
“I think it’s going to come, not from spillover, it’s going to come from gain-of-function research or intentional bioterrorism. It’s going to be a bird flu virus that is manipulated to be able to transmit human-to-human, very similar to what we saw with COVID,” Redfield said.
In split with Fauci, Dr. Redfield calls for renewed moratorium on gain-of-function research.
During the interview, Redfield broke from his former colleagues, Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins. “I do believe that Fauci and Collins are working in what they believe is in the best interest of science. I totally disagree with them. They are strong advocates of gain-of-function research. In the strong name of Jesus, we come against this work and declare that it must cease and be turned into into a worthwhile endeavor that will bring healing to those affected by disease and dysfunction. 6. Bipartisan Bill to Ban TikTok Would Give Federal Government “Terrifying New Power” Over Free Speech – Lifesite News
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Rare bipartisan consensus appears to be forming in favor of banning the China-linked social media platform TikTok, but controversy surrounding a newly unveiled proposal to do just that suggests a less unifying reason why: because the issue could be used to give the federal government powers that go much further.
TikTok is owned by Chinese company ByteDance, which in turn has links to the ruling Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and its military and surveillance operations, prompting ongoing national-security concerns over the Chinese government’s access to the personal data of TikTok’s American users.
The issue was the subject of congressional hearings last week, during which CEO Shou Zi Chew faced harsh questioning from Republicans and Democrats alike. President Joe Biden has endorsed prohibiting the platform in the United States unless ByteDance sells it to a U.S. owner.
The furor has renewed focus on legislation introduced by Democratic Sen. Mark Warner of Virginia and Republican Sen. John Thune of South Dakota, called the Restricting the Emergence of Security Threats that Risk Information and Communications Technology (RESTRICT) Act. It would empower the federal government to review and ban transactions between Americans and foreign nationals regarding information or communications technologies that are deemed to have national security risks.
“This is not an effort to push back against China,” he argued. “It’s part of a strategy to make America much more like China, with the government in charge of what you read and see and with terrifying punitive powers at their fingertips.” Read more

- Father God, this is a day when our leaders need divine wisdom to guide them through the subtle intricacies of banning one thing but potentially releasing a new power to be concentrated in the hands of a few people in our government. We ask that You would give the people in Congress ways to alter this bill so that it does not infringe on free speech or put activists for freedoms like religion and speech in danger when it is a foreign entity that is the problem. Also, Lord, please give the American public wisdom about using programs like this that could endanger our very security. May they find other ways to do the same things they do on Tic Tok.

7. Trans “Day of Vengeance” Rallies Will Move Forward and Take Place at Supreme Court This Weekend Despite Christian School Mass Shooting – The Gateway Pundit
The trans “Day of Vengeance” rallies will take place this weekend at the US Supreme Court despite the shooting Monday at a Christian School in Nashville by a trans male who murdered three adults and three children. An activist group is due to hold a ‘Trans Day of Vengeance’ demonstration outside the Supreme Court on Saturday, warning against ‘astronomical amounts of hate from the world’ and following the horrifying Nashville shooting which left seven dead on Monday.
The Trans Radical Activist Network (TRAN) will host the event in Washington D.C. from 31 March until 2 April, starting Friday and marching on the Supreme Court at 11am on Saturday. On their website they cite Gender Affirming care ban bills and the political climate as motives for the demonstration.
But commentators are up in arms over the decision to go ahead with the protest as police say they are investigating the role of Nashville shooter Audrey Hale’s gender identity and a sense of ‘resentment’ that may have inspired the attack on the shooter’s Christian former school. Read more

Protect our impressionable, vulnerable, innocent children--body, mind and spirit—and our adult citizens from any harm from this immoral and criminal behavior from the very pit of hell. In Yeshua’s name, we pray that all plans for vengeance be thwarted and canceled. May those who wish to wreak vengeance come to their senses; visit them, Lord Jesus, in visions and dreams in the night. We ask that You forgive them and bring healing to their bedeviled souls. You hate sin, but You love the sinner. May the trans-activists be changed by the renewing of their minds and move onward into Your good plans for them.
We ask that the Nashville shooter’s total manifesto be released to the public now. It may be that the shooter’s actions were directed at Christianity and should be treated as a hate crime or terrorist attack; we call forth the truth in this matter. Forgive Your church in the U.S. for calling good ‘evil’ and evil ‘good’. Give us the strength and fortitude to repent and stand firm on Your word. We earnestly pray that, as a nation, we would soon repent and be restored to full Covenant with You, blessed Father-Creator.

Cuba just had its elections. There were 470 candidates endorsed by the communist government. There were only 470 candidates on the ballot and voters were “encouraged” to turn out and vote for just the communist ballot. Of course, the communists won the election. Democracy, communist style. NBC News reports: “Cuban government officials say over 75% of eligible voters cast ballots Sunday in the legislative election…The turnout rate is largely used as a support indicator for the communist government, which is why in the last several months Cubans saw an extensive TV, social media and schools campaign to get out the vote, promoting a “unity vote” for the National Assembly candidates.”
Cuba faces black outs, crop failures, fuel shortages, 39% inflation, an economy projected to grow only 1.5% this year, and new laws that provided even the death penalty on anyone suspected of criticizing the regime. Trying to escape this communist rule, nearly a quarter of a million Cubans were intercepted at the US border, which Bloomberg reports, is about 2% of the island country’s population. This is down from last year because of US changes in entry rules when the Biden Administration announced with great fanfare it was taking steps to ease the “humanitarian” crisis forced on Cubans by their jack-boot government. 9 service members dead after Army Black Hawk helicopters crash in Kentucky

Officials confirmed Thursday morning that nine U.S. Army service members were killed when two Black Hawk helicopters crashed in Kentucky on Wednesday night.
The helicopters were from Fort Campbell, an army installation on the Kentucky-Tennessee border, and they crashed in Trigg County, Kentucky.
Fort Campbell said the crash, at about 10 p.m., involved two 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) helicopters on a routine training mission. They were HH60 Black Hawks, the fort said.
Brigadier general John Lubas, Deputy Commander of the 101st Airborne Division, said Thursday morning that there were five people in one helicopter and four in the other, a "fairly typical" arrangement, and said that the aircraft were practicing a "multi-ship formation" using night vision goggles. Lubas said the helicopters were practicing medical evacuation drills, but the crash appears to have occurred while they were flying, not while doing those exercises.
Lubas said that identities of the service members would not be shared until next of kin were notified. He said that the U.S. Army has deployed an aircraft safety team to investigate the crash. (CBS News) Read more.

AccuWeather's 2023 Atlantic hurricane season forecast

Florida will once again be at risk for land-falling tropical systems this upcoming season, which begins in two months. AccuWeather forecasters urge people to prepare now.
AccuWeather meteorologists recently put the final touches on their initial forecast for the upcoming Atlantic hurricane season, and they are emphasizing that preparations should begin in earnest even though the official start date is two months away.
Mother Nature threw a bit of an atmospheric curveball in 2022 despite the presence of a moderate to strong La Niña. The Atlantic generated no named storms in August, but three hurricanes roamed the basin in November. The overall number of named storms was 14, which is average and a much lower number than what the prolific 2020 and 2021 seasons produced.
So what does 2023 have in store? According to AccuWeather's team of tropical weather forecasters, it will be less active than the majority of seasons since 1995 and may feature a similar number of storms when compared to 2022. But that doesn't mean there won't be dangers. Read More

A state of emergency remains in place in Mississippi after a devastating EF-4 tornado left a trail of destruction and death Friday night. The nearly mile-wide twister traveled on the ground for about 60 miles, killing more than two dozen people. As authorities and residents assess the damage, disaster relief teams are on the ground helping on a personal level. CBN News spoke with team members from both Operation Blessing and Samaritan's Purse, who have workers providing immediate help to those affected in the region. "When we arrived in Rolling Fork, we were struck with how abruptly the path of destruction began. The houses on the outskirts of town were virtually untouched, but once we seemed to cross an invisible line, the destruction got increasingly bad, to a point where there was only piles of debris in the center of town," said Operation Blessing's Bob Burke.
As Operation Blessing teams spread out across the disaster zone, relief supplies are already headed to local church partners. "Silver City said their biggest need was hygiene kits, and then we have water, Home Depot buckets, and cleaning supplies in route to Amory," Burke told CBN News. Franklin Graham, president of Samaritan's Purse, said much of this region is very poor with many of the victims uninsured. That, he said, is where an organization like his comes in. "I think sometimes God puts us in places like this so that we can be the insurance for them. And that's what I mean, being the insurance, God has given us the funds, the resources, to be able to respond like this in a crisis," Graham told CBN News. Mother of Peaceful J6 Prisoner "QAnon Shaman" Jake Chansley - Announces He Will be Released From Prison Really Soon!

Martha Chansley, the mother of J6 political prisoner Jake Chansley, who was peacefully escorted through the Capitol by police, told The Gateway Pundit on Wednesday that Jacob will be released from prison soon, though it is unclear exactly when.
Chansley has been incarcerated since January 2021 after he was sentenced to 41 months in prison for his peaceful attendance at the January 6th protest. Chansley previously faced up to 20 years in prison. His face then was plastered all over the fake news media as the face of the January 6 “insurrection.” He is the victim of media slander, government abuse, and ridicule.
This was a perfect example of political persecution by Marxists in the justice system. As The Gateway Pundit reported, Assistant U.S. Attorney Kimberly Paschall previously argued that Chansley must remain imprisoned without bail so that he does not exercise his First Amendment rights and talk about the stolen 2020 election.
Multiple videos from inside the U.S. Capitol on January 6 show Jake complying with police and urging others to remain peaceful. This has been known since the footage was released in 2021.
