TODAY'S TOP STORY
Women weave a camouflage net in Lviv, Ukraine, on March 16, 2022.

10 Realities of Ukraine

A Commentary written by Victor Davis Hanson

1. Reassuring an enemy what one will not do ensures that the enemy will do just that and more. Unpredictability and occasional enigmatic silence bolster deterrence. But President Joe Biden’s predictable reassurance to Russian President Vladimir Putin that he will show restraint means Putin likely will not.

2. No-fly zones don’t work in a big-power, symmetrical standoff. In a cost-benefit analysis, they are not worth the risk of shooting down the planes of a nuclear power. They usually do little to stop planes outside of such zones from shooting missiles into them. Sending long-range, high-altitude anti-aircraft batteries to Ukraine to deny Russian air superiority is a far better way of regaining air parity.

3. Europe, NATO members, and Germany, in particular, have de facto admitted that their past decades of shutting down nuclear plants, coal mines, and oil and gas fields has left Europe at the mercy of Russia. They are promising to rearm and meet their promised military contributions. By their actions, they’re admitting that their critics, the United States in particular, were right, and they were dangerously wrong in empowering Putin.

- Father God, we appreciate this article, that presents a voice of calm reasoning in the midst of this increasingly hostile and dangerous environment. Help us, O Lord, to know how to pray according to Your will in this matter. Teach us Your ways, O Lord, we pray, amen.

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Middle East Studies Association Votes to Boycott Israel - Algemeiner

The Middle East Studies Association (MESA) announced on Wednesday its endorsement of the Palestinian-led boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) campaign against Israel.

Members of the association, which is dedicated to academic study of the Middle East, moved to adopt a BDS resolutionafter a 50-day voting period that concluded on Tuesday, with 768 votes in favor and 167 against.

Israel is the only country in the Middle East to face such a boycott by MESA, two experts told The Algemeiner.

The association’s president, Eve Troutt Powell, said on Wednesday that members clearly decided “to answer the call for solidarity from Palestinian scholars and students experiencing violations of their right to education and other human rights.” MESA’s board would seek to “ensure that the call for an academic boycott is upheld without undermining our commitment to the free exchange of ideas and scholarship,” she added. (Read more)

2.  Israel announces 10 new towns in the Negev - World Israel News

After the Israeli government approved last week the establishment of the new ultra-Orthodox city of Kasif in the Negev and the community of Nitzana, it is expected to approve 10 more towns in the Negev this coming week, Minister of Interior Ayelet Shaked and Minister of Housing and Construction Ze’ev Elkin announced Wednesday.

Shaked and Elkin will bring to the government’s approval this Sunday a final decision for the establishment of five new towns, the “Mevo’ot Arad” bloc.

“The establishment of the new communities is a key stage in the development of the Negevand they are of national importance in the eastern metropolis of Beersheba and north of the city of Arad,” Shaked and Elkin said in a joint statement. (Read more)

3. US offering $1 million to report on Israeli human rights violations - Jerusalem Post

The US State Department has offered a grant of up to $987,654 for projects that include reporting human rights violations by Israel, raising concern about the potential for abuse by organizations seeking boycotts, sanctions and international law tribunals against Israel.

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announced "an open competition for projects that strengthen accountability and human rights in Israel and the West Bank and Gaza" last month, thought to be the first of its kind from Washington.

The proposals are meant to "collect, archive and maintain human rights documentation to support justice and accountability and civil society-led advocacy efforts, which may include documentation of legal or security sector violations and housing, land and property rights." (Read more)

4. Giant missile-detecting balloon begins operational use over northern Israel - Times of Israel

The military on Tuesday officially received a massive new balloon equipped with an advanced missile and aircraft detection system from the Defense Ministry.

The radar-based system, deployed in the north at an unspecified date, is part of a general effort by the Israeli Air Force to improve the country’s air defenses, particularly in the north, due to the proliferation of Iranian drones and cruise missiles in the region.

The detection system, dubbed “Elevated Sensor,” or “Sky Dew” in Israel, is deployed at high altitudes in order to detect incoming long-range missiles, cruise missiles, and drones, officials said. (Read more)

5. UN must hold Israel guilty of crimes of apartheid, investigator says - Jewish Press

The United Nations must hold Israel responsible for the crime of apartheid against Palestinians, legal expert Michael Lynk told the Human Rights Council in Geneva in a written report due to be debated on Friday.

"The Special Rapporteur recommends that the international community accepts and adopts the findings … that apartheid is being practiced by Israel in the occupied Palestinian territory and beyond," Lynk wrote as part of a series of recommendations he placed at the end of his report.

He submitted the document in the aftermath of three reports that accused Israel of the crime of apartheid, authored by Yesh Din, B'Tselem, Human Rights Watch, and Amnesty International. (Read more)

1. Senate Confirmation Hearing Underway for Supreme Court Pick Ketanji Brown Jackson - CBN

President Biden's nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court, federal appeals court Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, is getting her confirmation hearing before the U.S. Senate this week. If confirmed, she will be the first Black woman to serve on the high court.

Kelly Shackelford, president, CEO, and chief counsel for First Liberty Institute, warned the president has selected "a judicial activist" for the Supreme Court.  Two years ago, Biden pledged in a South Carolina debate to nominate a Black woman to the high court if presented with a vacancy. Biden said, "I'm looking forward to making sure there's a Black woman on the Supreme Court to make sure we in fact get everyone represented."

"In nominating Ketanji Brown Jackson, President Biden is selecting a judicial activist for the Supreme Court," Shackelford said. "Her record from the beginning of her career shows hostility to religious liberty, free speech, and other constitutional rights. The American people do not want a liberal extremist on the Supreme Court. If confirmed, Judge Jackson's judicial activism will place the constitutional rights of all Americans in jeopardy." (Read more)

- We pray, Lord God, that our judges—at all judicial levels—would be equipped for the job, fearing You, trustworthy, and hating bribes. We pray that American Christians would take the opportunity of Ketanji Brown Jackson’s confirmation hearings to think deeply and biblically about our responsibility to promote the election and appointment of judges who base their decisions on God’s standard of justice and truth.

- “But select capable men from all the people—men who fear God, trustworthy men who hate dishonest gain—and appoint them as officials over thousands, hundreds, fifties and tens. Have them serve as judges for the people at all times…”        (Exodus 18:21-26)

2. Durbin cuts off Cruz as tempers flare: 'You have to follow the rules' - The Hill

Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin (D-Ill.) cut off Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) in the midst of a series of questions about Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s handling of child pornography cases, a subject that Cruz and fellow White House hopeful, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.), have focused on extensively.

Durbin at one point even advised Jackson that she didn’t need to answer Cruz’s questions because the Republican senator kept on interrupting her when she provided answers that didn’t directly address the details of the cases he was talking about.

Cruz then started poring over the details of the case, such as the defendant having hundreds of images of children and reading Jackson’s comments from the transcript.
The senator then moved onto another case, United States v. Cooper, though he confused it with United States v. Chazen before correcting himself.

“Why did you sentence someone who had child pornography of toddlers being sexually abused to 28 months, 64 percent below what the prosecutors asked for?” Cruz demanded.  Jackson implied that Cruz was looking at a small fraction of her record. (Read more)

- Lord God, If someone is going to be confirmed to the highest court in the land we all as Americans should know that they are committed to protecting the most vulnerable of us all, which is our children. We just ask Lord that you would give each Senator who is confirming this woman wisdom and strength to make the right decisions. And if she is in fact confirmed we just pray over her Lord that she would make better choices going forward and protecting America’s children. In Jesus name amen.

- “The end of the matter; all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil.” (Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

3. Voters blame Biden for inflation, new polling shows - Just The News

Americans are feeling the pain of inflation, and many blame President Joe Biden for rising prices, new polling shows. Soaring gas prices have brought that issue home for most Americans with the average price per gallon rising more than a dollar in the past year. An Emerson College March national poll found that the vast majority of Americans are feeling the pain of higher prices.

“Eighty-three percent (83%) of voters say they are experiencing some hardship due to increased prices on everyday items, with 40% reporting significant hardship, and another 43% reporting some hardship,” the poll said. “Seventeen percent (17%) report experiencing no hardship. When asked about who they blame for an increase in gas prices, a plurality (39%) blame the Biden Administration, 21% blame the sanctions on Russia, and 18% blame gas and oil companies.” (Read more)

- Lord God we just pray for everybody struggling right now due to the bad choices and policy changes of this current administration. We ask Lord that you would send your ministering angels to comfort every heart that is struggling right now in the name of Jesus. We thank you Lord that you are our source first and foremost and we thank you Lord that in times of famine you will prosper your people and we will come out on top ready and able to help others and lift each other up in the mighty name of Jesus amen.

- "They will not be ashamed in the time of evil,
And in the days of famine they will have abundance." (
Psalm 37:19)

4. GOP sets stage to probe spiking of Hunter Biden laptop story; warnings to preserve evidence sent - Just The News

A top Republican on Tuesday revealed that GOP lawmakers are sending letters to Twitter, Facebook, the New York Times, and dozens of former U.S. intelligence officials asking that they preserve evidence of their efforts in 2020 to suppress or discredit credible news reports about Hunter Biden's laptop and business dealings.

Issa, who is expected to be chair of the House Oversight and Reform Committee in the event the GOP retakes the majority in November, will likely be spearheading any probe into possible collusion to quash the Hunter Biden story.

"What I can't live with," said Issa, "is the fact that when the New York Post, one of the oldest print newspapers in the country, founded in 1801, comes out with credible evidence, which they can show how they got it, what their sources were — there were no hidden sources on this — they not only got shut down by ... Facebook and Twitter, but they got shut down by the New York Times, by public broadcasting, by virtually everyone. (Read more)

- Lord God, we remember this story being downplayed by the media and politicians to try and preserve Joe Biden’s image to increase his chances of becoming president. We pray Lord God that all evidence that is gathered about the Bidens and all representatives that have committed crimes and abused their power will be brought to Justice in the name of Jesus Christ.

- "There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers." (Proverbs 6:16-19)

5. CDC lowers COVID-19 death count by tens of thousands - Just The News

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recently lowered the total COVID-19 death count by more than 72,000. According to the agency, the government's algorithm over-counted COVID-related deaths by 72,277 across 26 states, specifically including 24% of pediatric deaths (416).

On March 15, the data on the CDC's website was altered due to what, in a footnote, was explained as a "coding logic error."
The agency's updated overall death count due to the coronavirus stands at approximately 969,000. The change was close to 7.5%, which represents a significant difference with the total number hovering so close to one million deaths.

Walensky discussed the "Data Modernization Initiative," a plan to make the CDC's data more accurate. The efforts come following months of demands from lawmakers and members of the media for more truthful COVID reporting from the government health agency. (Read more)

- Lord God we pray for restoration in this area. The American people have been lied to and deceived about this virus for the last two years. We have suffered losses and hardships like we’ve never seen before. We thank you Lord that payback is coming and that the enemy will have to repay everything he stole in the mighty name of Jesus. Amen.

- " . . . but if he is caught, he will pay sevenfold; he will give all the goods of his house.” (Proverbs 6:31)

6. Trump withdraws endorsement of GOP rep who is running for US Senate - DML News

Former President Donald Trump announced Wednesday morning that he has pulled his endorsement for Republican congressman Mo Brooks, of Alabama, who is running for U.S. Senate in the GOP primary this year.
Brooks is running for the seat currently held by Republican Sen. Richard Shelby, who is retiring.

Trump yanked his endorsement for Brooks over comments Brooks made at a rally in Alabama, when he told people to stop talking about the 2020 election. Trump didn’t say who he will be endorsing for the seat instead of Brooks. At least two other candidates are running: Katie Britt, a former aide to Sen. Richard Shelby, and Mike Durant, an Army veteran and former Black Hawk pilot.

Below is Trump’s full statement just released Wednesday morning:

Mo Brooks of Alabama made a horrible mistake recently when he went “woke” and stated, referring to the 2020 Presidential Election Scam, “Put that behind you, put that behind you,” despite the fact that the Election was rife with fraud and irregularities. If we forget, the Radical Left Democrats will continue to Cheat and Steal Elections. (Read more)

- Lord God, we pray for wisdom and strength for President Trump to make the right choices when endorsing individuals for political office. We declare that every seat will be filled with God fearing men and women who will not desert their vows to the Constituents they serve. In Jesus mighty name.

- "Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand." (Proverbs 19:21)

7. Oklahoma House passes near-total abortion ban - Just The News

The Oklahoma House on Tuesday voted 78-19 to pass a bill that would ban all medically unnecessary abortions in the state. Similar to Texas' law preventing abortions after six weeks, the Oklahoma bill use private civil lawsuits as its enforcement mechanism. Any person who is not a government official may bring a civil case against anyone performing or aiding an abortion, and even anyone intending to assist in an abortion.

A court may award plaintiffs at least $10,000 for each abortion the defendant performed or in which they assisted.
The bill, which still needs to pass the Oklahoma Senate and secure the governor's signature, would take effect immediately upon receiving the latter.

The bill's only exception allows abortions "performed to save the life of the mother," according to the legislation. (Read more)

- Lord God we give you praise for this victory! We thank you Lord for righteous judges and lawmakers that have chosen to fear God instead of man. We think you for all the leaders that have stepped up to preserve life and show that every human life has value no matter how old or how young, born or unborn. We continue to pray that other lawmakers would make the same righteous choices in Jesus name amen.

- "For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ." (Galatians 1:10)

8. Kansas Weighs Protecting Rights of Children, Families in Education - Daily Signal

Special-interest groups don’t want parents to know when a student in Kansas public schools “identifies as” a gender not aligned with his or her biological sex. And school officials are prepared to keep this information from families, even when it involves children who are minors.
Now, Kansas lawmakers are considering a proposal to create a parents’ bill of rights, similar to a proposal recently approved by Florida lawmakers.

These parental bills of rights put parents back at the center of intimate questions regarding a child’s mental and physical health. The proposals also empower parents to make decisions as they protect their children from radical, explicit sexual teaching content—along with racially discriminatory material—being used in state public schools.

Those proposals are essential for parents today. In December, the American Civil Liberties Union of Kansas sent an ominous letter to Kansas’ Olathe School District. The ACLU claimed that district and school officials cannot ask for parental consent before educators use a pronoun that children as young as middle schoolers—children aged 11 or 12, even—choose for themselves. (Read more)

- Lord, You have given parents the tremendous honor, blessing and responsibility to raise children. Let us not grow weary in this role and let us not abdicate that role to others. The battle for our children’s lives is waged on our knees. When we don’t pray, it’s like sitting on the sidelines watching our children in a war zone getting shot at from every angle. When we do pray, we’re in the battle alongside them. Help us to be fully in the battle, praying Your Word over our children unceasingly.

- Deuteronomy 6:6-7 says, “These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.

9. Transgender swimmer Lia Thomas wins women’s 500-yard NCAA title - New York Post

Lia Thomas, the transgender swimmer at the University of Pennsylvania, won the NCAA championships in the 500-yard race on Thursday. Thomas defeated Virginia freshman Emma Weyant by 1.75 seconds with a time of 4:33.24.

Thomas swam for three years at Penn as a male before transitioning, sat out a year while undergoing testosterone suppression treatment and returned to compete as a woman.

She will also compete in the 200-yard and 100-yard NCAA championships later this week. Since Thanksgiving, Thomas has been swimming at a rate that suggested she would likely win national titles. She won the Ivy League title in the 500-yard, setting a record at Harvard’s Blodgett Pool in the process in February. (Read more)

- Father God, we know that Satan delights in deceiving people, leading them away from worshiping their Creator and into slavery to sin. It grieves us, as those who once were also separated from You but now are united with You in Christ. We pray that Lia Thomas and Rachel Levine would be born again and truly come to know who they were made to be—in body and soul. Help us to speak the truth in love and preserve the freedom to do so.

- “To open their eyes, so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins and a place among those who are sanctified by faith in me.’”  (Acts 26:18)

10.  Deadly Tornado Barrels Through New Orleans Metro Area - Brietbart

At least one person was killed when a tornado wreaked havoc on the greater New Orleans metro area Tuesday, causing substantial damage just east of the city in Arabi.

The twister “touched down this evening in the Lower Ninth Ward and New Orleans East communities” just before 8:00 p.m., New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell (D) said in a tweet Tuesday. It walloped Arabi in Saint Bernard Parish, which neighbors New Orleans Lower Ninth Ward, NOLA reported.

The national weather service said the tornado caused “at least EF3 damage,” meaning it was “severe” and brought strong winds between 136-165 MPH. Saint Bernard Parish President Guy McInnis said at least one person was killed in Arabi, but he did not delve into further details, according to NOLA. McInnis also said the natural disaster left some individuals trapped in their homes’ bathrooms. (Read more)

- Lord God we just pray over each and every person that was affected by this disaster and we left them up to you that you would surround them right now with your love, your joy, your peace that surpasses all knowledge and understanding. We asked that you send your ministering angels to minister to each one that has been affected bringing them comfort now in the mighty name of Jesus.

- “Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way.” (2 Thessalonians 3:16)

Stupidocrisy: Vice Signaling

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, March 23, 2022

There is a big “thing” among the “woke” left crowd called “virtue signaling.” Virtue signaling, as defined by the Cambridge Dictionary is “the popular modern habit of indicating that one has virtue merely by expressing disgust or favor for certain political ideas or cultural happenings.” Examples may be when House Speaker Nancy Pelosi tells everyone to mask up to prevent COVID, but doesn’t wear a mask herself, essentially saying she is supporting a socially popular directive to make everybody think she is virtuous, but in reality, she doesn’t care. In other words, virtue signaling is a modern way of saying “hypocrite.” Joe Biden, in his speech to the Business Roundtable, used Russia as an example to expose his own playbook.

Biden, speaking to this prestigious gathering of America’s top CEOs, talked about how Russia’s Vladimir Putin uses red flag events to signal what he himself is going to do. Biden said, “He’s run a lot of false-flag operations. Whenever he starts talking about something he thinks NATO, Ukraine, or the United States is about to do, it means he’s getting ready to do it. Not a joke…And so, his back is against the wall. And he’s–now he’s talking about new false flags he’s setting up, including he’s asserting that, we, in America, have biological as well as chemical weapons in Europe–simply not true.  I guarantee you. They’re also suggesting that Ukraine has biological and chemical weapons in Ukraine. That’s a clear sign he is considering using both of those.” Read More

Honoring Madeleine Albright
Madeleine Albright, 1st female secretary of state, dead at 84

Madeleine Albright, the first woman to serve as U.S. secretary of state, died Wednesday from cancer at age 84, according to her family.

Albright was nominated for secretary of state by President Bill Clinton and served in the role from 1997 to 2001. She was the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations from 1993 to 1997.

In a State Department briefing Wednesday, spokesperson Ned Price said Biden and Secretary of State Antony Blinken had been notified of her death.

"Madeleine Albright was a brilliant diplomat, a visionary leader, a courageous trailblazer, a dedicated mentor, and a great and good person who loved the United States deeply and devoted her life to serving it," Blinken said in a statement. "She was also a wonderful friend to many, including me. I’ll miss her very much."

Price said Albright was a mentor to Blinken, his deputy Wendy Sherman and many others.

"The impact that Secretary Albright ... had on this building is felt every single day in just about every single corridor," Price said.

"She was as trailblazer as the first female secretary of state, and quite literally opened doors for a large element of our work force," Price added. (CBS) Read more here.

- Lord God, today we take time to honor the life and the legacy of Madeleine Albright. Amen.

- "Blessed are those that mourn, for they shall be comforted." (Matthew 5:4)
Kremlin Says Russia Prepared to Use Nukes in Cases of ‘Existential Threat’

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Tuesday that Moscow is not ruling out a nuclear strike under circumstances outlined in its military doctrine, including if Russia faces an “existential threat.” Peskov was responding to a question by CNN’s Christiane Amanpour during an interview in which he was asked to confirm that Russian President Vladimir Putin would “never use a nuclear weapon.”

The spokesperson declined to rule out a nuclear strike, while making reference to Russian military doctrine that allows the use of nuclear weapons under certain circumstances, even in conventional arms conflicts.

“We have a concept of domestic security, and it’s public. You can read all the reasons for nuclear arms to be used,” Peskov said. “So if it is an existential threat for our country, then it can be used in accordance with our concept.”

Peskov was presumably referring to a presidential directive on nuclear deterrence, which was published in June 2020 and specifies a number of situations under which Russia could use nuclear weapons. (The Epoch Times) Read more here

- Father God, we bind every thought by anyone in authority in any nation that would cause them to even consider using nuclear weapons in our time. We ask that Your holy angels would stand guard over the minds of those in authority so that all mankind can be protected from the use of these horrific weapons. We ask this prayer in Your name, amen and amen.

- “Assuredly, I say to you, whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 18:18)
Supreme Court Won’t Say Whether Justice Clarence Thomas Remains Hospitalized

Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas on March 23 missed his third consecutive day of oral arguments after being hospitalized earlier in the month as the court refuses to provide an update on his condition.

Thomas, 73, “is unable to be present today,” Chief Justice John Roberts told the court, before continuing to repeat a line word-for-word about the justice participating in the decisions on all the cases the court has been hearing.

Thomas began missing oral arguments on Monday, a day after a court spokeswoman revealed he had been hospitalized with an infection on Friday. The spokeswoman told The Epoch Times that the infection is not related to COVID-19 but declined to share more details on the justice’s condition.

In a statement that day, the court said Thomas was “resting comfortably” and “his symptoms are abating.” It also said he was expected to be discharged from the hospital “in a day or two.” It said he was being treated with intravenous antibiotics.

The court didn’t respond to an email on Wednesday. Reached by phone, a spokeswoman refused to say whether the justice is still in the hospital. She pointed back to the March 20 press release, adding, “That’s the only information we have available at this time.” (The Epoch Times) Read more here.

- Father God, this article is a reminder for all of us to continue to pray for the recovery and health of Justice Clarence Thomas. Lord God, we need to hear his voice on this Court, now and always. Thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer for the swift recovery of Justice Clarence Thomas, in Your name, amen.

- "By His stripes, we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5)

Tornado wreaks havoc in New Orleans, leaves at least 1 dead
A massive tornado struck parts of New Orleans late Tuesday, including the Lower 9th Ward, which had been heavily damaged by Hurricane Katrina nearly two decades ago.

A large tornado tore through the New Orleans metropolitan area late Tuesday evening, ripping roofs off homes, flipping cars, killing at least one person and injuring multiple others as severe weather continued to push through the South.

Roofs were torn from homes in the suburb of Arabi and New Orleans' Lower 9th Ward as the powerful tornado slammed the city. There were reports of people trapped inside bathrooms in their homes after taking cover, according to St. Bernard Parish President Guy McInnis.

McInnis said that at least one person was killed by the tornado in Arabi, according to NOLA.com. He gave no details on how the person died and said multiple others were injured.

Just after 7 p.m. CDT, the ominous dark clouds and funnel were spotted in the area, prompting people in a city generally without basements to look for shelter elsewhere. Photos of the aftermath showed debris scattered, vehicles overturned and wires torn down in an area that had been badly damaged by Hurricane Katrina nearly two decades earlier and Hurricane Ida just last year. 'Jesus Fed Them and Then He Ministered to Them': Multiple Churches Help Drivers with Gas Giveaways
Americans nationwide have felt the strain of fueling up their vehicles as gas prices have surged over the past few months. That's why multiple churches across the region have partnered with gas stations to help alleviate the burden with either discounted or free fuel.

West Point Baptist Church of Hattiesburg, MS teamed up with three local gas stations on Saturday by taking one dollar off each gallon of gas, WDAM News reports. "Pastor (Marcus) Cathy was aware of the rising gas prices as well as inflation, and he wanted to make a difference, make an impact. And one of the ways we sought to do that was to roll back the gas prices," said West Point church member Jamieson Magee. "We partnered with three local gas stations to see how we could do that and to bring some needed relief at the pumps." Despite some drivers having to wait a while to get the gas, everyone was grateful for the kind gesture. "People just feel like they're getting a breath of fresh air," said local resident Frederick Chestnut. "We just thank God for the community and we thank God for this organization that gives back to the community."

In Chicago, New Life Covenant Church Southeast partnered with a Shell Gas Station which agreed to give out gas free-of-charge for one hour on Saturday. Senior Pastor John Hannah told CBS News that it was an answered prayer to be able to help those in need. "I basically stood in front of my church and said, 'Guys, we want to bless 200 cars,' asked a certain amount of people if they'd give us $25, and they gave it. We raised it right there on the spot," Hannah explained.

One church in Alabama also held a gas giveaway Saturday and provided $25 worth of free fuel per car. WSFA News reports that volunteers with Fresh Anointing House of Worship came out to MAPCO station in Montgomery to assist as many drivers as they could. "The word actually got out and that's what we wanted, was to be able to be a blessing to the people and to the community," said church pastor Jeremiah Andrews. "So, to see the lines, we were very happy with the turnout that we have today." Andrews added, "We just want to love you and give what we can back to the community." (CBN) Read More
- Father God, we rejoice at reading this testimony of those who, in our time, are moving in the anointing of Your "loaves and fishes." We call forth at least thousands of other churches across our nation who, too, will catch this vision and take action, as needed. Thank You, O Lord, we pray, amen!

- "He took the five loaves and the two fish, and looking up to heaven, He blessed and broke and gave the loaves to the disciples; and the disciples gave to the multitudes. So they all ate and were filled, and they took up twelve baskets full of the fragments that remained." (Matthew 14:19,20)

Joyful Joyful We Adore Thee

Words: Adapted by Edward Hodges
Music: Taken from Beethoven's 9th Symphony, Hymn to Joy

Scripture: Though now ye see Him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory. 1 Peter 1:8

Lyrics:
Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee,
God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flowers before Thee,
Praising Thee, their sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness;
Drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness,
Fill us with the light of day!

All Thy works with joy surround Thee,
Earth and heaven reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee,
Center of unbroken praise:
Field and forest, vale and mountain,
Blooming meadow, flashing sea,
Chanting bird and flowing fountain
Call us to rejoice in Thee.

Thou art giving and forgiving,
Ever blessing, ever blest,
Well-spring of the joy of living,
Ocean-depth of happy rest!
Thou our Father, Christ our brother,
All who live in love are Thine:
Teach us how to love each other,
Lift us to the joy divine.

Mortals, join the mighty chorus,
Which the morning stars began;
Father-love is reigning o’er us,
Brother-love binds man to man.
Ever singing march we onward,
Victors in the midst of strife,
Joyful music leads us sunward
In the triumph song of life.
