Russia Says Jet Scrambled as US Strategic Bombers Fly Over Baltic Sea Toward Border
|
|
A Russian fighter jet was scrambled on Monday to intercept a pair of U.S. strategic bombers flying over the Baltic Sea, Russia’s defense ministry said.
“On March 20, 2023, radars of the Western Military District Air Defense force on duty detected two airborne targets over the Baltic Sea, flying towards the state border of the Russian Federation,” the ministry said, as per Russian state media TASS. “The targets were identified as two U.S. Air Force B-52H strategic bombers.”
A single Su-35 fighter jet took to the air to “prevent violations of the state border” by the American warplanes that allegedly reached a “designated air patrol area,” but returned to its home base after the targets moved away from Russian territory, according to the ministry.
“No violation of the state border of the Russian Federation was permitted,” the ministry said, without specifying near which part of the Russian Baltic border the incident took place. Russia directly borders four NATO members in the region: Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania and Poland via its Kliningrad coastal enclave.
In a statement released Tuesday, the U.S. Air Force in Europe said that the bombers were conducting a mission with NATO allies and partners in Estonian airspace as a part of their “normally scheduled training operations.”
“The flights remained within Estonian airspace the entire flight at an approx. distance of 50NM from Russian air space,” the statement reads. “At no point did B-52’s make contact with Russian aircraft.” (Epoch Times) Read more.

Russia's Medvedev goes on tirade against International Criminal Court, threatens The Hague with missile strike

The former Russian president warned the ICC to 'watch the skies closely'
|
|
Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Chairman of Russia's Security Council, suggested on Monday that the Kremlin could fire a hypersonic missile at the International Criminal Court (ICC) after the organization issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"I’m afraid, gentlemen, everyone is answerable to God and missiles," Medvedev, a staunch Putin loyalist who was also Russia's president from 2008 to 2012, wrote in a message on Telegram, according to Russian state media outlet Tass.
"It’s quite possible to imagine how a hypersonic Oniks fired from a Russian warship in the North Sea strikes the court building in the Hague. It can’t be shot down, I’m afraid."
Medvedev also warned the judges to "watch the skies closely," calling the court "a pathetic international organization." (Fox News) Read more here.

Knesset okays repeal of Disengagement Law for northern West Bank in 31-18 final vote
|

|
The Knesset voted in the early hours of Tuesday morning to roll back legislation that ordered the evacuation of four northern West Bank settlements concurrent with Israel’s pullout from the Gaza Strip in 2005, passing the repeal in second and third (final) Knesset readings 31-18.
The law, which won some support from opposition members including National Unity’s Gideon Sa’ar and Ze’ev Elkin, repeals the clauses of the Disengagement Law that banned Israelis from the area where the settlements of Homesh, Ganim, Kadim and Sa-Nur once stood, paving the way for settlers to return.
The four communities were the only West Bank settlements to be cleared during what is termed the Disengagement from Gaza close to 18 years ago. The new law applies to those areas only. (Times of Israel) Read more.

Hours later, a spokesman for the U.S. Department of State was denouncing the vote during the department’s daily press briefing.
“The United States is extremely troubled that the Israeli Knesset has passed legislation rescinding important parts of the 2005 Disengagement Law, including the prohibition on establishing settlements in the northern West Bank,” Vedant Patel told reporters. (Read more)

Likely tornado hits Los Angeles area

|
Utility crews in the Bay Area were hard at work in dangerous conditions Tuesday, clearing downed trees in Boulder Creek, roughly 40 miles southwest of San Jose. Those in Boulder Creek worked amid downed power lines, heavy downpours and wind gusts over 70 mph. “If you live in the mountains, every 10 years or so [a storm is] going to be hard,” Boulder Creek resident Tyrone Clark told Reuters. “Sometimes, really hard.”
The area also experienced mudslides Tuesday, with Clark noting this is his first encounter with them in his 20 years in the area. “I’ve never seen it, and it’s just a lot of rain,” Clark said. “Sometimes there’s drought and sometimes there’s lots of rain. I think in the [1990s] we had [storms] that were like this, but I think the trees are just bigger now and [are] not handling the weight.” An evacuation order was issued for a short time in a section of Boulder Creek Tuesday, due to a blockage in a local creek rising water levels.
A likely tornado struck east of downtown Los Angeles Wednesday, damaging multiple buildings in Montebello, California. The Verdugo Fire Communications Center classified the likely tornado as a “weather incident” that was reported just a few minutes before 11:30 a.m. PDT. KTLA reported that part of a local roof was ripped off and debris was thrown around the area. No injuries have been reported so far, and the National Weather Service confirmed it will investigate the incident further. Video sent to KTLA showed a funnel cloud in the area, creating an eerie atmosphere for Montebello residents. (Accuweather.com) Read more here.

1. BREAKING!! Netanyahu: Israel Won’t Pass Anti-Christian Law - Israel Today
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahuon Wednesday sought to calm Israel’s Christian supporters by reassuring them that neither his government nor any other Israeli government was going to pass a law prohibiting the preaching of the Gospel in the Jewish state.
Some Christian and conservative American media was in an uproar this week after MK Moshe Gafni (United Torah Judaism) proposed a bill that would greatly expand an existing law that prohibits proselytizing to minors or offering monetary incentive to convert to another religion (the obvious target of the law being Christians and Messianic Jews who regularly share their faith).
Gafni’s proposal would, among other things, ban Hebrew-language online videos that preach about Jesus, since they could be accessed by minors without a parent’s consent. Many local Messianic and Christian ministries have taken to sharing the Gospel online in recent years. (Read more)

As his right-wing coalition partners celebrated a successful repeal of the 2005 disengagement law that saw Israelis forcibly evacuated from communities in northern Samaria, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clarified that settlers would not be permitted to return to their former homes.
“The decision by the Knesset to nullify parts of the Disengagement has brought an end to the law which discriminates against Jews living in parts of northern Samaria, a part of our historic homeland,” Netanyahu said in a media statement on Wednesday.
But, Netanyahu noted, the change to the law does not mean that settlers will be allowed to reside in those evacuated communities or reestablish them.
“With that, the government has no intention of establishing new communities in these areas,” the premier clarified. (Read more)

A far-right minister in Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government said that a law repealing legislation that ordered the evacuation of four West Bank settlements was a step on the way to re-occupying and resettling the Gaza Strip, a move that she acknowledged would cause “many casualties.”

4. Jordan Holds Vote to Expel Israeli Ambassador Flaunting Image of ‘Greater Jordan’ - Algemeiner
The Jordanian Parliament on Wednesday voted to expel Israel’s ambassador to Jordan while displaying an image showing all of Israel under Jordanian control after Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich gave a controversial speech in France at a podium depicting Jordan as part of Israel.
Jordanian media also posted images of MP Ismail Al-Mashaqbeh placing an Israeli flag on the ground and walking on it a sign of disrespect.
Jordan’s Petra news agency reported that the Jordanian MPs said that the speech displayed “an Israeli arrogance and disrespect of international treaties and conventions” and a “deep hatred towards the Palestinian people and a clear insistence on ignoring the Palestinians’ presence.” (Read more)

5. Former Generals and Admirals Urge US to Arm Israel to Prevent Nuclear Iran - Algemeiner
44 retired officers from the US Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines published an open letter on Tuesday urging the United States to provide advanced weapons to Israel to deter and prevent a nuclear Iran.
The letter, organized by the Jewish Institute for National Security of America (JINSA) and published in the political publication The Hill, calls for the delivery to Israel of C-46A aerial refueling tankers, F-15I and F-35 multirole fighters, and precision-guided bombs.
“As retired American military leaders who devoted our lives to the defense of our nation, we prefer a diplomatic solution that would genuinely end the threat posed by Iran’s escalating nuclear program. But no such deal is imminent, nor realistic,” the letter said. “The United States cannot pursue a deal while the Tehran regime brutalizes its own people and provides Russia with arms to target civilians in Ukraine.” (Read more)

1. Wyoming Passes First-of-its-Kind Law Criminalizing Sale, Prescription of Abortion Pills - Christian Post
“Wyoming has passed legislation criminalizing the sale and prescription of abortion pills after Republican Gov. Mark Gordon signed a bill on Friday dubbed the ‘first of its kind.’ The legislation, SF 0109, was sponsored by Republican Sen. Tim Salazar and will take effect on July 1. The bill makes it a felony to prescribe, sell or use ‘any drug for the purpose of procuring or performing an abortion.’ Violators face up to six months in prison and a $9,000 fine.” (Read more)

We pray for the efforts of other states who are trying to pass pro-life laws and navigate lawsuits that they will have success. 2. Missouri AG says probe uncovered 'shadowy' network of clinics helping minors change gender - Just The News
Missouri GOP Attorney General Andrew Bailey said Wednesday an investigation by his office has uncovered a network of clinics that are helping minors transition from one gender to another.
"There's a shadowy, clandestine network of these clinics across the state of Missouri that are encouraging kids to come in," Bailey said on the John Solomon Reports podcast. "They're encouraging them to believe they have mental health problems and then are jumping the gun to administer puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones and recommending – ultimately –surgery that's damaging and irreversible."
Last month, Bailey's office started an investigation into the Pediatric Transgender Center at St. Louis Children’s Hospital after a whistleblower made allegations of child transitioning going too far. (Read more)

4. ALERT! Fed raises interest rates by a quarter point amid high inflation and now bank collapses - Just the News
The Federal Reserve announced Wednesday it will again raise interest rates – this time by a quarter of a point as it is juggling whether another rate hike will help cool the U.S. economy while still keeping the U.S. banking system secure.
"The Committee seeks to achieve maximum employment and inflation at the rate of 2 percent over the longer run. In support of these goals, the Committee decided to raise the target range for the federal funds rate to 4-3/4 to 5 percent," the Fed said when announcing the rate hike.
The rate was 4-1/2 to 4-3/4 percent, but Wednesday's increase is slightly less than the 0.5% that was projected in December. "Inflation remains well above our longer-run goal of 2%," Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell said at the conclusion of the bank's two-day monetary policy meeting. (Read more)

5. Democrat-Run City Bans New Gas Stations to Fight Climate Change - Brietbart
Louisville, Colorado, has decided to ban any new gas stations from moving into their city. Currently, Louisville has a population of 21,000 people and only six gas stations.
“We have an obligation to take every step possible to address the changes to our climate that are ravaging our planet and directly impacting the health, well-being, and livelihoods of the constituents we represent in Louisville,” councilwoman Maxine Most told Fox News.
Additionally, any new “gas stations and service stations will also be required to have at least two charging stations for electric vehicles and be 1,000 feet from existing stations unless they are part of a large retail center, according to the ordinance.” (Read more)

6. White House Withholds Requested Info About Biden’s Classified Doc Scandal Cover-Up - Brietbart
The White House has refused to disclose requested information to the House Oversight Committee about who covered up President Biden’s classified document scandal from the American people for 68 days before it was leaked to CBS News.
In a letter obtained Tuesday by Breitbart News, the White House refused to provide the requested information to the committee’s investigation of the scandal, claiming it did not force the National Archives (NARA) to withhold a public statement on the scandal.
“We made clear at the time that the White House did not ask NARA to withhold a statement,” Richard Sauber, special counsel to the president, replied March 17 to House Oversight Committee James Comer’s (R-KY) March 7 letter to White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zients. (Read more)

7. Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders Signs Law Prohibiting Transgender Restrooms in Schools - Brietbart
Republican Arkansas Gov. Sarah Huckabee Sanders signed legislation on Tuesday that will prohibit transgenders in public schools from using the bathrooms that correspond with their gender identity.
“The bill signed by the Republican governor makes Arkansas the fourth state to place such restrictions at public schools, and it comes as bills in Idaho and Iowa also await their governor’s signature,” according to the Associted Press. “And it might be followed by an even stricter Arkansas bill criminalizing transgender adults using public restrooms that match their gender identity.” (Read more)

8. FDA approves lab-grown ‘GOOD Meat’ chicken product - New York Post
The US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) issued a “no questions” response to GOOD Meat, marking the company’s lab-grown chicken product safe to eat.
“We have no questions at this time regarding GOOD Meat’s conclusion that foods comprised of or containing cultured chicken cell material [are] as safe as comparable foods produced by other methods,” the FDA said in a March 20 letter to the company.
The FDA’s letter “clears a crucial step in bringing GOOD Meat to restaurants and retail in the US,” GOOD Meat said in a statement Tuesday, adding that it “is now working with the US Department of Agriculture on necessary approvals.”
GOOD Meat, the cultivated meat division of food technology company Eat Just, Inc., is dedicated to, “making sustainable, safe meat from animal cells instead of slaughtered animals.”
The FDA’s move comes just months after UPSIDE Foods received the FDA’s first regulatory green light to sell cultivated meat, poultry or seafood in November 2022.

Stupidocrisy: World Court Arrest Warrants

On Friday, March 17, a very serious and somber Piotr Hofmanski, president of the International Criminal Court (ICC) publicly announced that the ICC has issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin for “alleged war crimes of deportation of children from Ukrainian occupied territories into the Russian Federation.” The ICC states in a release that “The crimes were allegedly committed in Ukrainian occupied territory at least from 24 February 2022. There are reasonable grounds to believe that Mr. Putin bears individual criminal responsibility for the aforementioned crimes.” Of course, Russia and Putin are shaking in their jack-boots upon hearing such news from the toothless ICC tiger.
Putin’s spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, said, “We do not recognize this court; we do not recognize its jurisdiction.” Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova echoed Peskov, saying, “The decisions of the International Criminal Court have no meaning for our country, including from a legal point of view. Russia isn’t a party to the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court and is under no obligation arising from it.” Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev was a little more colorful: “No need to explain WHERE this paper should be used.” Nations concerned with sovereignty feel much the same way about the UN’s attempt at a world court. Franklin Graham Calls For Prayer

Reverend Franklin Graham recognizes the precarious times we are in. I’m sure he will face some blowback, but he is calling on Americans to pray for Donald Trump and our nation as we travel down a road we may never recover from. Here is Graham’s message to America:
“We need to pray for our country and where it is headed. The left in Washington and across the country just can’t get their fill of attacking Donald Trump. They are so paranoid of him. The onslaught against him is continual.
“There’s no question, the media and the left manipulated the last election, and they are scared to death of Donald Trump’s possible return. So, night after night, the media runs negative stories about former President Trump. Now they're talking about the possibility of arresting him in the hopes that this would prevent him from running for president again—this would be a huge mistake.
“The charges against him are definitely politically motivated. I would like to ask Christians across this country to pray specifically for former President Donald Trump, that God’s hand would be upon him, protect him, and direct him in every step he takes—and that God’s will be done. We need to work together to strengthen this nation—not divide and destroy it.”

Ramadan, the holiest month in Islam, begins today, March 22. Muslims believe that it was during the month of Ramadan when Muhammad first began to receive his revelations. Best Current News has produced a prayer series for Christians corresponding to the Islamic month of Ramadan for over ten years.
Because Islam is called one of the three “Abrahamic faiths” along with Judaism and Christianity, many Christians do not realize that the Abraham of the Bible is radically different from the Abraham in the Muslim faith. Statistics from the Pew Research Center reveal that 65% of Christians believe that many religions can lead to eternal life – breaking down the report further, 77% of Catholics, 82% of Mainline Protestants, and 47% of Evangelicals believe that at least one other religion (not denomination) can lead to eternal life. Interestingly, 56% of Muslims believe many religions can lead to eternal life.
. . . We are certainly not the first or largest Christian group that produces a prayer guide for Ramadan; however, our approach is unique. In addition to encouraging our readers to pray for Muslims, we often ask that our readers pray for themselves and their fellow Christians during this time.
Depending on which church you attend, there is a good chance that many of those sitting around you no longer believe Jesus’ words in John 14:6, “…I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”
So, as we begin this Ramadan season, we ask that you pray for Muslims and also your fellow Christians.
- Pray their hearts will be softened and they come to an understanding of, and most importantly, an encounter with “THE TRUTH,” Jesus Christ the Son of God.
- That as the eyes of the Church are open to Truth, they will be bold and uncompromising in their witness to our Muslim neighbors.

Scientists were first who dared to forecast 'an act of God'
|
|
|
Up until March 25, 1948, such a force of nature was considered "not forecastable" by the government. But on that day, one historic weather forecast issued by two members of the Air Force changed everything.
On March 20, 1948, a destructive tornado rampaged through the Tinker Air Force Base, located southeast of Oklahoma City. At the time, the damage produced by the twister was the worst in state history, and it led to several fatalities. Photos of the base in the aftermath of the twister showed damaged planes, including some that had been hurled across the airfield like toys.
While thunderstorms had been predicted by the meteorologists working that day, a threat of tornadoes had not been in the forecast. That’s because the tornado watches and warnings issued by the National Weather Service today didn’t exist across the United States’ weather enterprise. According to a recollection of the disaster compiled by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), a panel commissioned to investigate the March 20 disaster referred to it as “an act of God” and noted, “it was not forecastable given the present state of the art."
Weather forecasters in the late 1940s didn’t have the supercomputers, satellite data or the advanced radar capabilities that are now used frequently when high-impact weather situations unfold. Forecasters at the time relied mainly on hand-drawn weather maps, data from weather balloons and a radar system that was originally intended for use on B-29 bombers, according to the Air Force. Mississippi Passes Bill to Protect Children from Digital Pornography
|

Mississippi is one step closer to prohibiting access to digital pornography through public libraries and the Internet in general after the state House of Representatives passed legislation on March 8. Mississippi representatives amended a state Senate bill that allowed for civil action against entities that “distribute material harmful to minors without performing a reasonable age verification to verify the age of individuals attempting to access the material.” The amended version “include[s] bans on ‘obscene’ and ‘sexually oriented’ digital materials in libraries. It does not include physical books,” the Mississippi Free Press reported.
The legislation also includes important anti-grooming provisions that restrict public school employees for exposing minors to sexual content. “The bill prohibits public-school libraries for K-12 students and public libraries that serve adults and children alike from contracting with vendors for ‘digital or online resources’ that violate the State’s pre-existing legal definition of ‘sexually oriented materials,'” the Free Press reported in its analysis. We also pray for discernment for ALL state representatives across America to have keen wisdom on how to shelter our children from evil agendas at public libraries and public schools.
