Armed suspect arrested near Justice Kavanaugh home identified

The armed California man arrested near the Maryland home of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh Wednesday morning has been identified as Nicholas John Roske, law enforcement sources tell Fox News.

Roske of Simi Valley, California, was carrying a gun, knife and pepper spray when arrested and had made violent threats against Kavanaugh, sources said. Roske was picked up on a nearby street after calling police on 911 to report himself.

A criminal complaint obtained by Fox News shows that Roske is being charged with attempting to murder a United States Supreme Court Justice. He is scheduled to have a first appearance in federal court in Maryland Wednesday afternoon.

He told officers that he wanted "to give his life purpose" and purchased the gun and other items for the purpose of breaking into Kavanaugh’s home and killing the justice and then himself. Roske admitted in a second interview with the FBI of his intent to kill Kavanaugh and himself, according to an affidavit in support of the criminal complaint.

Roske told detectives that "he was upset about the leak of a recent Supreme Court draft decision regarding the right to an abortion as well as the recent school shooting in Uvalde, Texas," and believed Kavanaugh "would side with Second Amendment decisions that would loosen gun control laws," according to the affidavit. - Lord God, we plead the blood of Jesus over every Supreme Court Justice that you would keep them safe. We pray a hedge of protection over their families and friends from all harm and evil. We declare your truth and your Justice would be done through every Justice in Jesus name!

House votes to raise minimum age to buy semi-automatic rifles to 21
House votes to set minimum age of 21 for buying semi-automatic weapons in response to spate of shootings

House lawmakers on Wednesday vote to set the minimum age to buy semi-automatic weapons at 21 in response to a string of high-profile shootings.

The legislation passed 223-204, mostly along party lines. It has little chance of clearing the Senate as it pursues negotiations focused on improving mental health programs, bolstering school security and enhancing background checks. (Read more)

- Father God, we ask that, when this legislation reaches the Senate floor, cooler heads would prevail. We do want our children to be safe; our streets to be safe; and our schools to be safe, but we cannot give up our right to bear arms. In Your Name, Holy One, amen.

FOCUS ON ISRAEL

1. Iranian general threatens to ‘raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground’ - Times of Israel

Iran on Tuesday threatened to “raze” the cities of Tel Aviv and Haifa.

“For any mistake made by the enemy, we will raze Tel Aviv and Haifa to the ground by the order of the Supreme Leader,” the Islamic Republic’s ground forces commander, Kiumars Heydari, told the semi-official Iranian Tasnim news agency.

The threat came less than a day after a report on Monday said Thai security forces had thwarted several recent Iranian attempts to harm Western and Israeli targets in the Southeast Asian country — a popular tourist destination for Israelis. (Read more)

2. Sa’ar to try again to advance settler law bill, admits coalition may be on last legs - Times of Israel

Justice Minister Gideon Sa’ar appeared to give his faltering coalition a stay of execution Tuesday evening, saying he plans to try a second time to pass key legislation that he had previously positioned as do-or-die for the government.

That law, which is needed to continue extending Israeli legal provisions to settlers living in the West Bank, failed in a dramatic vote late Monday evening after some coalition members refused to back it, a scenario Sa’ar had previously envisioned spelling doom for the coalition after a year in power.

However, in interviews on all three TV networks’ nightly news broadcasts, Sa’ar suggested that there is still a possibility for the coalition to recover, and said he intends to bring the legislation up for another vote next week. (Read more)

3. Residents of Jerusalem neighborhood face nightly attacks - Israel National News

Residents of the Ma'ale HaZeitim neighborhood near the City of David in Jerusalem regularly experience life-threatening harassment and threats from Arab terrorist cells.

Last night, a Molotov Cocktail was thrown at homes in the neighborhood. Another firebomb was thrown at the same houses at the same time the previous night.

A third Molotov set a building ablaze three nights before that. The building serves as a warehouse and is next to a residence where a family was sleeping at the time. (Read more).

4. Hezbollah Operates Intel Positions Along Israel’s Northern Border Under Guise of ‘Green Without Borders’ - Jewish Press

The IDF revealed Wednesday that Iran’s Lebanese proxy, the Hezbollah terrorist organization, has established a new frontal reconnaissance site to collect intelligence on the Lebanese border under the guise of activists with the “Green Without Borders” association.

“Hezbollah is once again grossly violating UN resolutions despite the Lebanese army’s presence in the region. This is further proof of the lie behind the activities of the Green Without Borders association,” IDF Arabic spokesperson Lt. Col. Avichai Adraee wrote in a tweet Wednesday afternoon.

“Green Without Borders” is a Lebanese association claiming to be involved in environmental protection with an emphasis on forest protection along the Lebanese border with Israel – but in practice the organization operates positions on the border in violation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701, Adraee noted. 5. US State Department accuses UN of singling Israel out in its COI - Jerusalem Post

WASHINGTON – The US State Department responded on Tuesday to an initial report by the United Nations’ highly contentious Commission of Inquiry, which charged that Israel is largely to blame for the conflict with the Palestinians, saying, “The COI in its current form is a continuation of a longstanding pattern of unfairly singling out Israel.”

State Department Spokesperson Ned Price said, “As we have stated repeatedly, we firmly oppose the open-ended and vaguely defined nature of the UN Human Rights Council’s Commission of Inquiry on the situation in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, which represents a one-sided, biased approach that does nothing to advance the prospects for peace.

“The report of the commission, released today, does nothing to alleviate our concerns,” he added. “While the United States believes the HRC plays a crucial role in promoting respect for human rights and fundamental freedoms globally, this COI and report do not advance this goal.”

1. Justice Dept. names 9 to aid in review of Uvalde shooting - AP News

The Justice Department has named a team of nine people, including an FBI official and former police chiefs, to aid in a review of the law enforcement response to the Uvalde, Texas, elementary school shooting that left 19 children and two teachers dead.

Attorney General Merrick Garland announced the team during a meeting in his office in Washington on Wednesday. The critical incident review is being led by the Justice Department’s Office of Community Oriented Policing Services.

The review will include an examination of police policies, training and communication, along with the deployment of officers and tactics, the Justice Department said. It will also examine who was in command of the incident and how police prepared for potential active-shooter incidents. (Read more)

2. Attorney General Garland Speaks on Attempted Assassination of Justice Kavanaugh After Biden Says Nothing to Reporters (VIDEO) - Gateway Pundit

Merrick Garland said this kind of behavior will not be tolerated.

“This kind of behavior is obviously behavior that we will not tolerate. Threats of violence and actual violence against the justices of court strike at the heart of our democracy and we will do everything we can to prevent them and to hold people who do them accountable,” Garland said. “Last month, I accelerated the protection of all the justices’ residences 24/7.” (Read more and view video by going here.)

- Lord God, even though Biden has said nothing about this danger to the life of a Supreme Court Justice, we praise You that the Attorney General HAS spoken out. We pray that he will stick to his words, and that the full force of the weight of the law will fall upon Nicholas John Roske in Your time. Amen.

3. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen Warns Inflation Will Remain ‘High’ - Breitbart

“I do expect inflation to remain high, although I very much hope that it will be coming down now,” Yellen told the Senate Finance Committee. “I think that bringing inflation down should be our number one priority.”

Yellen also told lawmakers that she and Federal Reserve Chair Jerome Powell “could have used a better word” than “transitory” in reference to the nature of rising costs that have been plaguing Americans for months.

In the same hearing, Yellen addressed President Joe Biden’s efforts to bring down the surging price of gas across the country, saying the administration “has done everything that they can” to reduce such prices. (Read more)

4. The Supreme Court may take territories off the map of the US - MSNBC

May the United States rule foreign territories without granting their inhabitants constitutional rights? Yes, according to landmark Supreme Court decisions in the “Insular Cases” more than a century ago. Without those decisions, our overseas territorial empire could not have existed.

Suddenly that decision is under fierce attack from within the Court itself. The fate of America’s five populated colonies — Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, American Samoa, and the Northern Mariana Islands — may hang in the balance.

In April the Supreme Court decided what seemed to be an abstruse case about federal benefits owed to Puerto Ricans. But Justice Neil Gorsuch’s opinion began with a startling passage. He asserted that the United States has no business deciding anything for Puerto Rico because our ownership of that island — and by extension other US colonies — is unconstitutional.

“A century ago in the Insular Cases, this Court held that the federal government could rule Puerto Rico and other territories largely without regard to the Constitution,” Gorsuch wrote. “It is past time to acknowledge the gravity of this error and admit what we know to be true: the Insular Cases have no foundation in the Constitution and rest instead on racial stereotypes. They deserve no place in our law. . . . And I hope the day comes soon when the Court squarely overrules them.”

. . . The five US possessions that would be affected by a reversal of the Insular Cases are home to 3.5 million people. They inhabit a weird space in the world’s political geography. That may soon change. The court is expected to rule on the Samoans’ case later this year. Many islanders will be watching. (Read more)

- Lord God, we ask that You grant Your wisdom to the nine Justices who now sit on the Supreme Court, that they may rule wisely regarding the constitutionality of The Insular Case. Amen.

5. Former Obama official: Biden’s ‘reckless’ gaffes ‘unnecessarily undermined our standing’ in the world - Fox News

Former Director of Global Engagement for the Obama White House Brett Bruen declared Tuesday that Joe Biden's "reckless riffs" and foreign policy gaffes "have unnecessarily undermined our standing and irresponsibly handed propaganda points to our adversaries."

In an article published in USA Today, titled "Biden’s careless comments are hurting his presidency and diplomacy. He needs a reset," Bruen took the president and his national security team to task. "I used to cringe when Vice President Joe Biden took to the podium. Despite all the preparation that went into an event and his remarks, as a staffer on the National Security Council, you never quite knew what he might say," he wrote.

"At times, his offhanded comments could spice up what otherwise would be a pretty boring policy address. Yet, there were other times, too many times, when it could veer into dangerous terrain," he continued. "The reckless riffs have continued during his presidency, especially when discussing diplomacy," he wrote.

Bruen criticized Biden for remarking last summer on the "inevitability" that Kabul would "fall to the Taliban," seeming to "give Russian President Vladimir Putin a tacit green light to take at least some Ukrainian territory," asserting in Poland that Putin "should be removed from power," despite years of U.S. policy to the contrary," and stating "his clear commitment of American forces to the defense of Taiwan, a major departure from our long-standing policy."

"How does such careless careening into crisis territory keep happening?" he asked. "Biden bears the lion share of blame for his ill-considered improvisation." (Read more)

 - Father God, it is only by an act of Your unmerited grace that this man has not yet gotten us involved in a major war, somewhere in the world. Save us, O Lord, from this "President," as we repent before You. In Your name we offer this prayer, amen and amen.

- " . . . deliver us from evil . . ." (Matthew 6:13)
6. Power grid at risk from Russian cyberattacks and energy blackouts: Texas Republican - Washington Examiner

Rep. August Pfluger called on the Biden administration to take steps to better protect the U.S. power grid from cyberattacks and from reserve capacity shortages , warning in a letter shared exclusively with the Washington Examiner that these vulnerabilities risk setting off a nationwide reliability crisis.

In a letter sent late Tuesday to Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm , the Texas Republican said the Department of Energy “lacks a clear plan to protect our critical infrastructure systems from nefarious actors, like Russia, and ensure peak power demand can be sufficiently met.”

If the United States “does not develop a long-term, serious energy policy for the 21st century,” he wrote, "then America will soon face a reliability crisis that inflicts needless pain on American families, businesses, and workers." (Read more)

- Lord God, we do ask that this administration would listen very carefully to the warnings released by this member of Congress from the State of Texas. Help us, O Lord, we pray, amen.

7. Iran says it switched off 2 of UN watchdog’s surveillance cameras at nuclear site - Times of Israel

Iran turned off two surveillance cameras of the United Nations’ nuclear watchdog that monitored one of its atomic sites, Iranian state television reported Wednesday. The television report described the two International Atomic Energy Agency cameras as monitoring “OLEM enrichment levels and flowmeters.”

That appeared to refer to the IAEA’s Online Enrichment Monitors, which watch the enrichment of uranium gas through piping at enrichment facilities. The report did not identify the site, but Iran currently is enriching at both its Fordo and Natanz underground nuclear sites.

“The Islamic Republic of Iran has so far had extensive cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency,” the TV report said. “Unfortunately, the agency, without considering this cooperation… not only did not appreciate this cooperation, but also considered it as a duty of Iran.” (Read more)

- Father God, as Your intercessors and watchmen on the wall, we commit to continue to keep a very close eye on all the actions that Iran is doing in this hour. We thank You, O Lord, that You can and will intervene to disable their nuclear weapons, when the time is right to do so. Amen.

“Ah, Sovereign LORD, you have made the heavens and the earth by your great power and outstretched arm. Nothing is too hard for you." (Jer. 332:17)

8.  Israel makes dramatic upgrades to military plans to attack Iran
- Jerusalem Post

In face of Iran’s continued development of a nuclear capability, the Israeli Air Force has developed a new capability to be able to fly its F-35 stealth fighter jets from Israel to the Islamic Republic without requiring mid-air refueling.

The development is a boost to IAF capabilities and comes as the Israeli military has upped its preparations for a future strike against Iran’s nuclear capabilities.

In addition, the IAF recently integrated a new one-ton bomb into the arsenal of weapons used by the F-35s (known in the IAF as the “Adir”) that can be carried inside the plane’s internal weapons compartment without jeopardizing its stealth radar signature. (Read more)

9. Vile, Satanic Attack': Gunmen Kill at Least 50 Worshippers and Children at Church on Pentecost Sunday in Nigeria - CBN News

At least 50 people, many of them children, are feared dead after gunmen shot at worshippers and detonated explosives at a church in southwestern Nigeria on Pentecost Sunday.

Legislator Ogunmolasuyi Oluwole said the attackers descended upon St. Francis Catholic Church in Ondo state just as people started to gather for worship.Bishop Jude Arogundade of the Ondo Diocese said gunmen invaded the church while other gunmen outside also killed churchgoers who were fleeing in terror.

A priest was also reportedly abducted. Adelegbe Timileyin, who represents the Owo area, said at least 50 were killed during that attack, however, that number is likely to rise. Ondo Governor Rotimi Akeredolu tweeted that the assailants "will be hunted down and they will pay for their crimes." (Read more)

- Sovereign Lord, You sent Your Holy Spirit on Pentecost to enable the church to speak Your Word with all boldness, no matter the opposition. Even when they were persecuted and killed, Your gospel went forth. Through Your Holy Spirit, we ask that you do the same for our brothers and sisters in Nigeria. Comfort them, provide for them, rescue them. Remind them that they are not forgotten by the worldwide church. Stir the hearts of Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of the area where the attack occurred, and Muhammadu Buhari, the president of Nigeria. Move them to curb the lawlessness and brutal murders of their citizens. Strengthen and deliver the Christians who are still in captivity, and through their witness, lead even their persecutors to Christ.

- “(pray) for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” (1 Timothy 2:1-4)

10. Idaho Satanic Temple promotes 'family friendly' drag dance party with 'unbaptisms' - Just The News

The Satanic Temple Idaho is promoting a "family friendly" pride celebration featuring a "drag dance party" with  "unbaptisms" performed by the temple. "We will have merchandise and performing unbaptisms for those interested! Just know, Satan loves you for you! Hail Satan!" Astra tweeted.

The congregation head appears to have deleted the account after Libs of TikTok took note of the tweet. The Satanic Temple Idaho's Facebook post about the pride event, including the "unbaptisms," has not been taken down. (Read more)

- Dear Father God, We pray that you would open up the eyes of those who are blind and reveal to them by Your Spirit how much satan dislikes them and how much Jesus loves them for who He created them to be! We bind every demonic spirit of witchcraft, rebellion, Jezebel, chaos & confusion, and deception in the name of Jesus Christ! We pray that every demonic spirit of anti-Christ confusing these people must bow their knee and confess with their tongue that Jesus Christ is Lord! Lord, send an army of ministering angels to wage war in the spirit and confuse the enemies camp! Amen.

- “For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee will bow, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father” (Phil. 2:9-11)

11. Two-thirds of American Christians don't know any methods for telling others about Jesus, poll finds - The Christian Post

Most American Christians want to share their faith but only a minority of them have encouraged others to embrace Jesus Christ in the last six months, according to new data released by Lifeway Research that suggests more than six in 10 believers don't know any methods for telling others about their faith in Christ.

Released last week, the Lifeway Research survey titled “Evangelism Explosion Study of American Christians’ Openness to Talking about Faith” is based on survey responses from 1,011 American Christians who were interviewed between April 12–23.

With an error margin of plus or minus 3.1%, "quotas and slight weights were used to balance gender, age, region, ethnicity, education and religion to reflect the population more accurately."
The survey found that 54% of participants said they are either "willing" or "eager" when asked what they think about "telling others about Jesus Christ." (Read more)

- Oh Lord, we understand a crucial aspect of sharing the gospel is prayer. After all, while we are responsible for our part, God is responsible for the result. Let us all take this opportunity to pray for a friend or family member who is not saved. And that their hearts would be enlightened to the hope to which they have been called. And let us remember how Jesus said,

- “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Matthew 9:37-38)

The Great Reset Part 2 COVID

The Daily Jot, Bill Wilson, June 8, 2022

Yesterday’s Daily Jot closed with a clue as to how the Great Reset’s Stakeholder Capitalism, works. The narrative is to convince people that corporations, government and civic organizations can partner to make a fair, equitable and sustainable economy where everyone benefits. The clue was that corporations become so entwined in your life that they partner with the government to bypass voters and the US Constitution, trampling your rights to free speech and religious expression. At the same time, they make exorbitant profits without concern for any so-called “stakeholder,” except their own pocketbooks. Today we will examine how The Great Reset used COVID to demonstrate “stakeholder capitalism.”

On October 15, 2019, two months before the COVID outbreak was reported in China, WEF announced Event 201, a partnership with Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation to simulate a response to a worldwide COVID pandemic. The simulation included worldwide lockdowns, biometric surveillance technologies, collapse of businesses, censoring “misinformation,” mass unemployment, and civil unrest. Among notable participants were representatives from Marriott International, the UN, World Bank, Chinese Center for Disease Control, Advisor to CIA and NSA, Lufthansa Airlines, US CDC, Johnson and Johnson, UPS, and NBCUniversal Media. Johns Hopkins stated: “For the scenario, we modeled a fictional coronavirus pandemic, but we explicitly stated that it was not a prediction.” Note that the Chinese CDC and the US CDC were involved in this simulation two months before the COVID outbreak was made public. Bannon subpoenas Pelosi and House January 6 committee members to fight contempt charges
Steve Bannon, set to go to trial next month for defying a congressional subpoena, has subpoenaed House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and members of the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection as he builds his defense.

Bannon, a conservative firebrand who previously served as former President Donald Trump's chief strategist and senior counselor, was charged with two counts of contempt of Congress in November 2021 after refusing to testify and produce documents. He has pleaded not guilty.

Bannon's legal team subpoenaed 16 lawmakers and congressional staffers to testify at the July trial and produce documents, according to one of Bannon's attorneys and copies of the subpoenas provided to CNN. (Read more)

Report: Soros Prosecutors Run Half of America’s Largest Jurisdictions
George Soros spent more than $40 million in the past decade to elect scores of liberal prosecutors in half of America's largest jurisdictions, many of which are now roiled by crime.

The Democratic megadonor has backed 75 so-called justice reform prosecutors through direct contributions, PACs, and other third-party entities, the Law Enforcement Legal Defense Fund revealed in a June report. Though many had little prosecutorial experience when elected, they represent 72 million Americans in some of the nation's most populous municipalities.

Ten Soros prosecutors, including Philadelphia district attorney Larry Krasner (D.) and Los Angeles district attorney George Gascon (D.), received $13 million in just the last four years, going on to win races where they had vastly outraised their competition—sometimes by as much as 90 percent. In each race, Soros was the single greatest donor to the campaign. (Washington Free Beacon) Read more here.

- Lord God, this plan has been very successful at advancing a dark and evil agenda. But we declare that your plans are bigger and higher and will come to fruition in the mighty name of Jesus! We cancel all plans of the enemy in these jurisdictions and we send confusion in the enemy's camp in Jesus name. We pray Lord that you are fulfilling these jurisdictions with righteous men and women. Amen.

Massive Oil Refinery On Track To Shut Down Amid Fuel Supply Shortages, Record Prices
A key Texas petroleum refinery that produces more than 200,000 barrels of fuel per day is facing a premature shutdown that could increase pressure on domestic fuel supplies.

The Houston, Texas, facility — which is operated by LyondellBasell Industries, spans 700 acres and was built in 1918 — is scheduled to permanently close by the end of 2023, but could shut down earlier if a “major equipment failure” spreads to major units, two people familiar with the issues told Reuters. The refinery processes 268,000 barrels per day (bpd) of oil and produces 92,600 bpd of diesel fuel, 89,000 bpd of gasoline and 44,500 bpd of jet fuel.

LyondellBasell announced in April that it would shut the refinery by 2024 due to the heavy financial burden of upgrading its more than 100-year-old infrastructure, Barron’s reported at the time. (Read more)

Chinese Surveillance Giant Arms Iran With Advanced Spy Tech

A Chinese surveillance company is providing Iran with advanced spy technology that helps the hardline regime in Tehran crack down on pro-democracy protesters who in recent weeks have taken to the streets.

Tiandy, a China-based manufacturer that specializes in surveillance technology, "is supplying Iran's Revolutionary Guard [Corps], police, and military while touting itself as an Iran-friendly alternative to other [People's Republic of China] manufacturers who do not have direct operations in Iran," according to a recent investigation by IPVM, a security group that tracks the industry. Iran and China in 2021 committed to a 25-year economic agreement worth $400 billion.

The security group's findings about the Iran-China surveillance pipeline—which likely violates U.S. sanctions—are taking on renewed significance amid nationwide protests in Iran that have threatened the hardline regime's grip on power. Efforts to quell the protests, including the use of tear gas and beatings, have failed, and Iran is capitalizing on China's mass surveillance marketplace to boost its security sector, which consists of secret police and IRGC forces. Iranian and Chinese officials touted their relationship during meetings last week centered on enhanced "cooperation in the fields of security and police cooperation," according to Iran's state-controlled media. We pray your healing and your peace over them that there would be nothing missing, nothing broken in their lives that they are provided for in every way in the mighty name of Jesus amen.

Towns covered in ash after volcanic eruption in the Philippines

The Philippines' Mount Bulusan erupted for 17 minutes Sunday, sending a plume of ash up at least one kilometer, which is about 0.6 miles, into the atmosphere and covering several towns in volcanic dust, according to reporting from AFP.

The eruption was phreatic, meaning that the explosion was triggered by magma heating up water in the volcano's crater. These eruptions tend to shoot out steam and ash rather than liquid lava.

The ashfall that followed the eruption covered the normally vibrant municipality of Juban. Juban is about a 12-hour drive to the southeast of the Philippine capital of Manila.

Two villages in Juban experienced "zero visibility" due to the heavy ashfall, with first responders being deployed to the area to try and clean the ash and help those in need.

“The evacuation is ongoing there, but our priority is senior citizens and those with asthma,” Dennis Despabiladeras, an official with Juban’s Disaster Management and Risk Reduction office told AFP. Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported to authorities following the volcano’s eruption.

Just a couple of weeks before the coronavirus pandemic shut down the US, Kari Jobe held a songwriting session with her husband, Cody Carnes, and Elevation Worship’s Steven Furtick and Chris Brown. Together, they set to music one of the Bible’s best-known benedictions, Numbers 6:24–26: The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine on you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.

When they introduced “The Blessing” at an Elevation Church campus near Charlotte, North Carolina, on March 1, Jobe told worshipers that the lyrics represent “the heart of the Father over us as his kids” and invited them to receive the song as “a blessing over you and your family and your children.” They had no idea how many Christians would want to hear and sing out those words as the pandemic spread in the months to come. In just five months, “The Blessing” has become a chart-topping hit and viral sensation covered by more than 100 virtual choirs around the globe.

“Because this song is based on Scripture, the message is timeless, and we wanted to release it as quick as we could knowing the effect it could have on people ’s hearts and spirits immediately, as it did ours,” Jobe told The Christian Beat. “God knew it would be something we could hold onto during a season of our lives that ’s full of uncertainties and unknowns.” Their compilation launched a global trend. Within 24 hours of its premiere, “The Pittsburgh Blessing” caught the attention of Tim and Rachel Hughes, lead pastors at Gas Street Church in Birmingham, England.

The Hugheses reached out to the churches and ministries in their networks to assemble a virtual choir that would represent the United Kingdom. The UK Blessing premiered on May 3. “It’s been a beautiful thing seeing it come together,” Tim Hughes told Premier Christianity. Over 100 virtual choirs have since created versions of the song, declaring God’s blessings over cities, countries, and whole continents. (Christianity Today) Read More and Watch Video

Words: Henry Lyte
Music: William Monk

Scripture: They urged Him strongly, Stay with us, for it is nearly evening; the day is almost over. Luke 24:29

Lyrics:
Abide with me!
Fast falls the eventide;
The darkness thickens.
Lord with me abide.
When other helpers fail,
And comforts flee,
Help of the helpless,
O abide with me!

Swift to its close
Ebbs out life’s little day;
Earth’s joys grow dim,
Its glories pass away;
Change and decay
In all around I see;
O Thou who changest not,
Abide with me!

Not a brief glance
I beg, a passing word;
But as Thou dwell’st
With Thy disciples, Lord,
Familiar, condescending,
Patient, free.
Come, not to sojourn,
But abide with me.

Come not in terrors,
As the King of kings,
But kind and good,
With healing in Thy wings,
Tears for all woes,
A heart for every plea,
Come, friend of sinners,
And abide with me.

Thou on my head
In early youth didst smile;
And though rebellious
And perverse meanwhile,
Thou hast not left me,
Oft as I left Thee,
On to the close,
O Lord, abide with me!

I need Thy presence
Every passing hour.
What but Thy grace
Can foil the tempter’s power?
Who like Thyself
My guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine,
O abide with me!

I fear no foe
With Thee at hand to bless:
Ills have no weight,
And tears no bitterness.
Where is death’s sting?
Where, grave, thy victory?
I triumph still,
If Thou abide with me.

Hold Thou Thy cross
Before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom,
And point me to the skies;
Heav’n’s morning breaks,
And earth’s vain shadows flee:
In life, in death,
O Lord, abide with me!
